When the teacher called on you, were you ready? When we are called upon in the Kingdom of God, we should be ready. We should always be ready to meet God on His terms; We should always be ready to give an answer for the hope that lies within us; and we should always be ready for the Lord's return.

"Why are your cheeks emaciated, your expression desolate!
2. Gilgamesh spoke to Urshanabi, saying:
"Urshanabi, should not my cheeks be emaciated, my expression
desolate!
3. My friend who chased wild asses in the mountain, the panther
of the wilderness…
4. My friend, whom I love deeply, who went through every hard-
ship with me,
5. Enkidu, my friend, whom I love deeply, who went through
every hardship with me, has died.
6. Six days and seven nights I mourned over him
and would not allow him to be buried until a maggot fell out of his nose.
7. I was terrified by his appearance(!),
8. I began to fear death, and so roam the wilderness.
9. The issue of my friend oppresses me,
so I have been roaming long trails through the wilderness.
10. The issue of Enkidu, my friend, oppresses me,
so I have been roaming long roads through the wilderness.
11. How can I stay silent, how can I be still!
12. My friend whom I love has turned to clay;
13. Enkidu, my friend whom I love, has turned to clay!
14. Am I not like him! Will I lie down, never to get up again!"
15. Utanapishtim spoke to Gilgamesh, saying:
"Gilgamesh, you came here exhausted and worn out.
What can I give you so you can return to your land?
I will disclose to you a thing that is hidden, Gilgamesh,
a... I will tell you.
16. There is a plant... like a boxthorn,
whose thorns will prick your hand like a rose.
17. If your hands reach that plant you will become a young
man again.”
18. ….He took the plant, though it pricked his hand,
and cut the heavy stones from his feet,
letting the waves(?) throw him onto its shores.
19. Gilgamesh spoke to Urshanabi, the ferryman, saying:
"Urshanabi, this plant is a plant against decay
by which a man can attain his survival.
I will bring it to Uruk-Haven,
and have an old man eat the plant to test it.
20. The plant's name is 'The Old Man Becomes a Young Man.'"
2
21. Then I will eat it and return to the condition of my youth."
At twenty leagues they broke for some food,
at thirty leagues they stopped for the night.
22. Seeing a spring and how cool its waters were,
Gilgamesh went down and was bathing in the water.
23. A snake smelled the fragrance of the plant,
silently came up and carried off the plant.
While going back it sloughed off its casing.'
24. At that point Gilgamesh sat down, weeping,
his tears streaming over the side of his nose.

15 That which is has been long ago, and that which is to be has been long ago. God
seeks again that which is passed away.
16 Moreover I saw under the sun, in the place of justice, that wickedness was there; and
in the place of righteousness, that wickedne.

Homily: The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity Sunday 2024.docxJames Knipper
Countless volumes have been written trying to explain the mystery of three persons in one true God, leaving us to resort to metaphors such as the three-leaf clover to try to comprehend the Divinity. Many of us grew up with the quintessential pyramidal Trinity structure of God at the top and Son and Spirit in opposite corners. But what if we looked at this ‘mystery’ from a different perspective? What if we shifted our language of God as a being towards the concept of God as love? What if we focused more on the relationship within the Trinity versus the persons of the Trinity? What if stopped looking at God as a noun…and instead considered God as a verb? Check it out…

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

INSTRUCTION FROM ELIEZER’S CAMEL TRAIN
1. 1
Instruction From Eliezer’s
Camel Train
Intro:
Abraham sends his servantto get a bride for his
son. Here is how it happened…
Gen 24:10
10) And the servant took ten camels of the camels of his
master, and departed; for all the goods of his master were
in his hand: and he arose, and went to Mesopotamia, unto
the city of Nahor.
Text:
Gen 24:11
11) And he made his camels to kneel down without the
city by a well of water at the time of the evening, even the
time that women go out to draw water.
I. The Constraintof the Clock
2. 2
Gen 24:11 …at the time of the evening, even the time
that women go...
The clock is the most apparent constraint of
human fate.
Time and tide wait for no man.
From before a baby’s first breath, all things are
measured by the clock.
How far along are you?
How far apart are the contractions?
How fast can we get to the hospital?
Job 7:1
1) Is there not an appointed time to man upon earth? are
not his days also like the days of an hireling?
As soon as the child can talk “Hickory Dickory
Dock “introduces him to the clock; and from
then on, it’s a race to keep up.
3. 3
John 7:6
6) Then Jesus said unto them, My time is not yet come:
but your time is alway ready.
Time purpose, give his life a ransom for
many.
Man’s clock doesn’t ring out ‘Tick-Tock’,it has
one refrain that demands responsibility;“Ready
Now” is the insistent song of the second hand of
the clock.
Be sure in your hurry to accomplish a missionfor
God that you don’t forget each tick of the clock
has a purpose to be fulfilled.
Moses on a mission to lead Israel out of Egypt
almost lost his life because he failed to lead his
own family correctly.
4. 4
Exod 4:19-20, 24
19) And the LORD said unto Moses in Midian, Go,
return into Egypt: for all the men are dead which sought
thy life.
20) And Moses took his wife and his sons, and set them
upon an ass, and he returned to the land of Egypt: and
Moses took the rod of God in his hand.
Exod 4:24
24) And it came to pass by the way in the inn, that the
LORD met him, and sought to kill him.
They say, ‘A man may work from dusk to
dawn; but a woman’s work is never done”.
Not so for Eliezer, the chime of the evening bell
simply states there is more to be done.
Constraint of the Clock
II. The Submissionof Thought
Gen 24:11 And he made his camels to kneel down…
5. 5
He didn’t ask their permission or guage their
pace verses performance.
The camels don’t direct the masters moves.
Sometimes…
Ps 23:2
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth
me beside the still waters.
And sometimes he
Ps 23:5
5) Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of
mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup
runnethover.
…he made his camels to kneel down…
Camels kneel when they are loaded and
unloaded.
6. 6
We must kneel at the end of the day to unload
the burdens of the day, to be rested and ready
for the burdens that will come in the morning.
Your responsibility is to…
Gal 6:2
2) Bear ye one another'sburdens, and so fulfil the
law of Christ.
Your expectationshould be, The Master knows
what load I can carry.
Gal 6:5
5) For every man shall bear his own burden.
The constraint of the clock should drive you to
Submission of thought.
However, Prayer shouldbe closely accompanied
by Scripture.
7. 7
III. The Reservoirof Regeneration
Gen 24:11 And he made his camels to kneel down
without the city by a well of water…
A well of sarin-gas or agent orange would mean
your destruction,not regeneration or refreshing.
(Without the city) Only the Word of God is a well
of refreshing regeneration.
Ps 119:50
This is my comfort in my affliction: for thy word hath
quickened me.
Isa 12:3
Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of
salvation.
8. 8
Isa 55:1
Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he
that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come,
buy wine and milk without money and without price.
Rev 21:6
And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alphaand Omega,
the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is
athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.
Conclusion-
2Cor6:2
(For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and
in the day of salvationhaveI succoured thee: behold,
now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of
salvation.)
Heb 3:13
But exhort one anotherdaily, while it is called To day;
lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of
sin.
“Living Time.”
9. 9
Time is fast, time is slow,
It never stops,
Even when we do so.
Time for bed, time for school,
To waste time is to be a fool.
Some spend time, some save it.
Some love it, some hate it,
But Time does not wait, nor will it abate.
One day your stride will shorten,
Your breath grow thin,
But time marches on,
Till an account must be given.
How did you spend your living?
Redeem the time for the days are evil.
