Herod imprisoned Peter to please the Jews, but the church prayed fervently for his release. An angel freed Peter from prison despite being chained between two guards. Peter realized God had rescued him in response to the church's prayers. The account demonstrates that advancing the gospel will face opposition but united, fervent prayer can overcome obstacles as God remains in control.
Amidst God's most severe judgments, the world will see his grace as well—in the future just like the present. "Philadelphia" means city of "Brotherly Love." What could be more brotherly than telling prospective brothers about God's great love? Jesus commended this church for maintaining their missions focus, despite being mistreated. He also promised them deliverance from God's anger at the entire world (3:10), also known as the Pre-Tribulational Rapture.
Although we don’t read much about Caleb in the book of Joshua, he will remind you of the joy of serving the Lord. Caleb. Caleb received his inheritance because he was confident in God, committed to God and courageous for God. Paul demonstrates that we can have our inheritance through confidence, commitment and being courageous.
