God uses the furnace of affliction to refine and strengthen his people. The presentation discusses how God brought famine, insult, restriction, and excellence upon Joseph to refine him. Though difficult, the furnace of affliction produces glory that far exceeds any temporary suffering. Believers are called to resist the devil through faith, knowing that God will use their afflictions to make them perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle them.

In Beshalach, Pharaoh pursues the children of Isra’el into the wilderness. The Sea of Suf splits, the children of Isra’el cross the sea while the Mitsrite army is drowned. Moshe and the children of Isra’el sing a special song thanking Elohim for this miracle. The children of Isra’el complain about a lack of food and drink. Elohim sends man and quail for them to eat, and miraculously produces water from a rock. ‘Amalek attacks Isra’el and is soundly defeated.

THIS HAS TO DO WITH THE PATIENCE OF THE SAINTS. BECAUSE OF THE MARK OF THE BEAST, THE CRISIS HE [BEAST] WILL BRING UPON GOD'S PEOPLE, ETC, GOD'S PEOPLE MUST HAVE PATIENCE TO ENDURE.
Jesus Christ is described as the ‘morning star’ in 2 Peter 1:19 (phosphoros) and in Revelation 2:28 (aster proinos), and He identifies Himself as ‘the bright morning star’ (ho aster ho lampros ho proninos) in Revelation 22:16” (413).
He goes on to point out that this “star” symbolism reflects the Old Testament and inter-testament emphasis on the “celestial” nature of the coming Messiah (cf. Num. 24:17; Mal. 4:2).
William Barclay suggested several ideas. He thought the expression could signify the coming resurrection of the righteous. Just as the “morning star” breaks forth from the darkness of night, so the Lord’s people will break out of the darkness of the grave (1957, 67).
Later, however, he came to a different conclusion. He was “quite certain” that the “correct interpretation” is this. The “morning star” is Christ himself.

Homily: The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity Sunday 2024.docxJames Knipper
Countless volumes have been written trying to explain the mystery of three persons in one true God, leaving us to resort to metaphors such as the three-leaf clover to try to comprehend the Divinity. Many of us grew up with the quintessential pyramidal Trinity structure of God at the top and Son and Spirit in opposite corners. But what if we looked at this ‘mystery’ from a different perspective? What if we shifted our language of God as a being towards the concept of God as love? What if we focused more on the relationship within the Trinity versus the persons of the Trinity? What if stopped looking at God as a noun…and instead considered God as a verb? Check it out…

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

From Slave to Prisoner
Joseph was imprisoned despite

Imprisonment is painful to the

“Whose feet they hurt with

In the case of Joseph,
imprisonment was a trial of his
faith.
19)…The word of the Lord tried
him.
God had promised his family

and to him, in his dreams,
exaltation and honor.
6. Would God make good His word
and raise him to honor?
Or was that dream just some bad

During the years of his
imprisonment faith was tested
and patience was granted.
