Inspirations/
Influences
Location influences (Idea 1)
• We discussed as a group what ideas we had for our music video and found
a few current music videos that could influence us for our own, in terms
on location, costume, and makeup. We all loved Rihanna's music video; 'We
found love' and how it shows a variety of locations.
• One location that stood out to us the most was the shot of a fruit machine
which looks like it's in a pub/bar, we found this interesting because even
though you can see the location behind is low key lighting, the flashes and
bright lights from the fruit machine lights up the place. An arcade was one
of our ideas as we are likely to find a fruit machine there. Our chosen song
is about nightlife and we thought filming in a dark location g; arcade
,where there are loads of bright lights would create a similar atmosphere to
clubbing and partying. We would also have to film party footage to make
message of the song clear to the audience.
Costume
• We wanted our costumes to be different but fashionable at the same time
because we know from previous re-search that pop song artists always look
stylish. Jessie J, Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj's new song ‘Bang Bang' was
an great example of how we want to present ourselves in our own video
and seeing what they were wearing for their video gave us re-assurance
that our costume ideas could work.
• Jessie J in particular who starts out singing in the song is wearing an all
black outfit which includes a black bralette showing a lot of skin, black
skinny jeans and black high heels. I feel like I could wear something very
similar, as the style of her outfit is very popular at the moment and being a
group of girls who are all into fashion will have no problems in finding
something very similar. We feel like with an all black outfit you cant go
wrong as everything will match.
Outfit Inspiration
Costume (Footwear)
• We feel a lot of artists wear very high heels in music videos. The reason for this is
because it makes them look taller and appears women's legs look longer which
portrays a sexier image. wearing high heels is also a good way to dress up an outfit
which is exactly the look were going for in order to create a party look as though
we're a group of girls ready to go out for the night. there was a certain video called
‘Bang Bang' where Nicki Minaj is wearing very high strappy black heels. This
influenced us as it made her look very dressed up and also girly, which is how we
want to look as well.
Footage
• The same video by Jessie J, Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj influenced what
kind of footage we wanted to get, for example one shot from the music
video we can see a lot of women getting ready together in a room. One of
them is actually sitting at a dressing table where she is applying makeup
and it the shows a shot of Ariana Grande applying mascara. This
influenced us because we want to show the stages of a group of girls
getting ready to go out together and show how girls act when they're all
together.
Location inspiration (Idea 2)
• Lastly our second inspiration for location ideas the music video 'Hideaway'
by Keiza is set in the streets of New York. She walks around the streets
dancing and singing along the way. We thought this would be a good idea
to do except we would have to walk around in London. We liked the way
people watched her as she was dancing because it look very spontaneous
and not staged. This is what we hope to aim for when we start shooting our
own music video.
