Today wireless services are the most preferred services of the world. The rapid increase in
the service is due to the advancement of technology consecutively. As a subscriber becomes more
aware of the mobile phone technology, he/she will seek for an appropriate package all together, and
including all the advanced features of a cellular phone can have. Hence, the search for new
technology is always the main intention of the prime cell phone giants to out innovate their
competitors. In addition, the main purpose of the fifth generation wireless networks (5G Wireless
networks) is planned to design the best wireless world that is free from limitations and hindrance of
the previous generations. 5G technologies will change the way most high bandwidth users access
their Mobile Radio Communication (MRC). So, this paper represents, great evolution of 1G (First
Generation) to 4G yield 5G, introduction to 5G technologies, why there is a need for 5G, advantages
of 5G networks technology, exceptional applications, Quality of Service (QoS), 5G network
architecture.
5G is the fifth generation wireless technology for digital cellular networks that began wide deployment in 2019. As with previous standards, the covered areas are divided into regions called "cells", serviced by individual antennas.
The 5th generation wireless technology, abbreviated as 5G, are the proposed next telecommunications standards beyond the current 4G Advanced standards. The Next Generation Mobile Networks Alliance defines the following requirements:
The data rates of tens of megabits per second for tens of thousands of users
Data rates of 100 megabits per second for metropolitan areas

Experiences from the use of CovTracer: A contact tracing tool deployed in Cyp...Andreas Kamilaris
How can an app help the fight against COVID-19?
Combating the spread of the COVID-19 epidemic requires the rapid identification of people who have come into recent contact with confirmed cases of the SARS-Cov-2 virus. This allows for timely interventions such as evacuation and disinfection of spaces and for assistance in locating people who have been close to a carrier or have been exposed to the virus, so that they too can be appropriately tested or treated.
CovTracer is a mobile app for location tracking. It has been used at a country-scale experiment in Cyprus with more than 10,000 users. The app aims to contribute to the reduction of the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) in our country. The app was developed by a team of researchers and experts at RISE. Andreas Kamilaris is an MRG leader at RISE and the key topics of this presentations are:
- Need for ICT and mobile apps
- CovTracer features
- Aspects of privacy in contact tracing
- Initial results
- Future plans
Ontario Smart Grid Opportunities in the Electrical Utility Sector - MaRS Mark...MaRS Discovery District
To become smart grid leaders, Ontario needs to effect a transformation in a risk-averse environment. To do so, the province needs not only to advance its electricity infrastructure but also embrace a long-term and global vision.
This breakfast panel brings together diverse energy-sector stakeholders, including utilities, key industry players, government authorities, regulatory bodies and innovators.
Does an opportunity exist for Ontario utilities that implement intelligent operations to leverage that expertise into other markets? Can synergy between innovation and the electricity sector be created to support these practices? How much are we open to change?

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Editor's Notes
The sustainability of health services in Australia requires a whole of system approach to the spectrum of service delivery. With Government health expenditure now in excess of $100 billion, health now accounts for over 9% of Australia’s annual GDP. New cost-effective services must be developed to meet the simultaneous needs of the health system, the hospital, and the doctor – all of whom need to be involved in the management of the health of the patient.
The three pronged thrust for CSIRO research in broadband is Enabling services for Broadband (making them more efficient and effective) Ensuring everyone (99.99999%) get access to high speed, symmetric, reliable communications Changing the way people engage with technology (Centrelink example of dealing with illiterate people is useful here)
Re-use existing broadcasting infrastructure and spectrum Beam form signals over the long distances to individual households based on new synchronisation and co-operative networking methods optimise signals over distance Apply a combination of CSIRO patented technologies Require a change to Government’s spectrum allocation
