Norway Health Tech is a non-profit organization established in 2009 that represents over 200 members across the healthcare value chain in Norway. It aims to address all areas of human health through collaboration between healthcare industry, providers, researchers, and government. Key challenges in healthcare like aging populations and chronic diseases are driving needs for new healthcare products and solutions. Norway has strong assets in this area like research institutions, healthcare systems, and a concentration of activity in the Oslo region that can support innovation.

The Nordic Center for Sustainable Healthcare (NCSH) aims to raise awareness of and boost innovation in sustainable healthcare in the Nordics. It addresses issues like energy efficiency, hazardous substances, transportation, climate impact, and supply chain management in healthcare. The NCSH works with Nordic hospitals and collaborates internationally. The Nordics are seen as world leaders in sustainable healthcare due to culture, policies, legislation, innovative companies, and systemic solutions supporting practices like district heating and clean energy. However, medtech and life science companies still need to improve sustainability and no country can act alone, requiring ideas and solutions from others.

Her career has involved roles in urgent care, brain injury rehabilitation, occupational health, and as a nurse educator at Unitec Institute of Technology. Medicon Village is a life science cluster located in Lund, Sweden that was launched in January 2012. It is situated on the former AstraZeneca research site and includes 30,000 square meters of laboratories and 50,000 square meters of offices and conference space. Over 600 members from universities, research institutes, and life science companies work in areas like cancer, respiratory/inflammation, and other disease areas across the value chain from basic research to mature companies. The cluster aims to embrace the entire individual from prevention to diagnosis, treatment, and care.

Jo Døhl gave a presentation on Oslo Medtech and opportunities for collaboration between the oil and gas industry and health technology sector in Norway. Oslo Medtech brings together 190 member companies across the health technology value chain. There are large global markets and a need to develop solutions for issues like an aging population. Technology developed for oil and gas, such as sensors, robotics and data analysis could be applied to health. Oslo Medtech facilitates collaboration and international growth opportunities for member companies.

New Zealand has a publicly funded healthcare system with universal coverage. It has a national electronic health record system including a unique patient identifier used for over 20 years. Most primary care practices use comprehensive electronic medical record systems integrated with labs and prescribing. Hospitals use integrated clinical workstations and patient administration systems. The national health IT plan aims to achieve high quality integrated care through shared care programs and national clinical systems like ePrescribing. Standards are developed through HISO and openEHR is used to define content and enable data sharing and secondary use through a shared health information platform.
