In Summer

I guess my happiest memory was when I was 9 or 8. I had no friends in my class and was
generally a loner, no one talked to me because I was so ‘posh’ and obese – of course in
reality I was scared to death of everything. I spent my days reading and dreaming,
fortunately having an older friend at the school who was also all about Harry Potter. One
day there was a masquerade at the school for all the classes. All children gathered in
the assembly room but we both sneaked out, he also took two of his best friends. Our
school was very narrow and high, so we had a steep staircase going through all the five
floors. We established that he was Harry, I was Hermione and his friends were Ron and
Neville. Then we had an amazing time running alone in the empty school, casting spells, I
could hide in the Moaning Myrtle’s bathroom, then there was a basilisk and the ghosts, a
troll, the staircase was moving, the paintings talked… I was in my dream world just for this
few hours and I’ve been trying to catch this feeling ever since, which happens now and
then. But that was the beginning.
