Safety Alert Fatigue Management
All workers must be aware and be accountable when it comes to managing their fatigue whilst at work.
Failure to do so could have an impact on your employment with Infraworks and may also lead to restrictions
placed on your Safeworking qualifications by the network operator.
This directive comes as a result of 2 instances where workers have accepted shifts with full knowledge that
Infraworks Fatigue rules will be breached.
This act or failure to act is not only a serious breach of Network Rules but exposes yourself and those
around you to significant risk.
The breaches mentioned above both involved inadequate rest breaks between shifts.
It is important to know what to do when presented with these situations.
For emergency call outs or shift extensions that impact your fatigue, you must consult with Infraworks Safe
Work Manager, WHSE Manager or Operations Manager to gain approval.
If an allocation has been assigned to you that impacts on your fatigue you must contact Infraworks
Allocations to organise alternative arrangements.
Simply accepting these shifts with the knowledge that you will be breaching fatigue is not acceptable.
The following Infraworks Fatigue parameters must be complied with per PO113 Infraworks Fatigue
Management procedure.
Maximum shift length 12 hours *
Rest period between shifts 12 hours
Maximum number of shifts 12 in 14 days/day shifts
Maximum number of consecutive day shifts 12
Maximum number of consecutive night shifts 4 x 12 hours, 5 x 10 hours, 6 x 8 hours
Maximum number of consecutive 12-hour shifts 4
Maximum number of consecutive “on call” shifts 7 in 14 days
Any breach of these rules must be immediately escalated to either the Safe Working Manager, WHSE Manager or
Operations Manager
* in an emergency situation shifts may be extended beyond 12 hours subject to a risk assessment and management
approval
WHS Manager shall monitor fatigue via the FAID System, electronic timesheets shall produce daily reports
to determine any breaches of fatigue that may occur.
Workers are encouraged to contact Infraworks if they are feeling the effects of fatigue and/or complete the
Fatigue Self-Assessment Tool on your App.
