An effective teacher loves teaching, cares for their students, thinks creatively, communicates well, is proactive, strives to improve, uses various teaching methods, challenges students, understands and clearly explains content. Education should promote freedom, intellect, and understanding rather than compliance. Multicultural education addresses the challenges of a diverse population. While technology prepares students for the future and connects them globally, it is also important for students to learn through discussions and develop social skills without relying on technology.

 loves to teach
 demonstrates a caring attitude
 is willing to think outside the box
 is a good communicator
 is proactive rather than reactive

3.  Education must promote freedom and
intellectual growth
 Education must also allow knowledge, reasoning
and understanding (i.e. intellect) to grow
 Education is NOT a means to train society to be
complacent and compliant in order to operate an
industrial or technological revolution
 Multicultural education is an educational
movement and strategy aimed at addressing the
diverse challenges experienced by the rapidly
changing U.S. demographics

4. Arguments in favor of technology in the classroom:
 Exposing children to technology at an early age prepares them for college
and the workforce where knowledge of technology is essential for success.
 Technology fosters connections between people and information, no
matter where they are in the world, giving students access to resources
around the globe.
 Because children frequently absorb information through technology in
their day-to-day lives, they may be more motivated and interested in
lessons when technology is used as a teaching tool.
Arguments against technology in the classroom:
 Online instructional videos and programs don't compare to classroom
discussions where students have the opportunity to ask questions and hear
the opinions of their peers and teachers.
 It's imperative that students learn how to socialize without technology. It's
often through engagement with teachers that children learn valuable life
lessons such as respect, manners and self-esteem.
 Teachers are one of the most important factors in a student's development
and ability to succeed

5. How to handle this difficult situation:
 Tell parents know that your goal is to help every child
succeed
 Open your conversation with parents by acknowledging the
child’s strengths before you focus on areas of concern
 Good records that document dates, times, notes and
decisions about students can be invaluable if problems
arise
 Keep track of communication you’ve had with parents
throughout the school year. Make a set of parent
communication folders by labeling file folders with the
names of your students
 Be proactive! Contact parents as soon as you see academic
problems or negative behavior patterns develop
 Don’t be afraid to end a meeting with parents who become
confrontational If you feel threatened, ask your principal,
vice principal or school counselor attend the next
conference

6.  The new method of administration which has
the goal of meeting student needs and
creating better learning. If we put students
first then it's not so much of a power
struggle.
 Teachers need honest feedback - which
doesn't always mean praise. This feedback
helps teachers to grow into leaders
themselves.
 The goal of any good school administrator
should be to produce more teacher leaders.
