This document discusses the role of tech-savvy school leadership in establishing a positive school culture that supports 21st century learning. It provides perspectives from principals on creating an innovative culture where both successes and failures are accepted. Effective technology integration requires infrastructure support, teacher training, and technology plans that are flexible enough to change with technology. Challenges for school leaders include inadequate funding, resistance to change, and lack of professional development for teachers. However, an ineffective leader is cited as the biggest challenge. The impact of tech-savvy leadership includes increased student engagement, preparation for the global society, and personalized learning. It also helps create a collaborative culture where risk-taking and learning from failures are accepted.

Best Practices in Digital Learning, Anytime & Real TimeRenee Hobbs
How can digital learning be implemented in ways that deepen engagement and accelerate learning? The coronavirus crisis has created an opportunity to deepen digital literacy and learning competencies for teachers and students alike. In this session, we'll model and reflect upon three best practices of digital learning that go far beyond the Zoom or Google Classroom. Learn more about how trust and respect develop in online communities and discover the power of create-to-learn pedagogies that deepen engagement and accelerate learning. Learn strategies that help you to incorporate "anytime" and "real time" learning for students, teachers, and staff. Even when the coronavirus crisis is over, the best practices of digital learning are relevant to what happens in the classroom as we cultivate habits of mind that advance lifelong learning.
School safety is defined as schools and school-related activities where students are safe from violence, bullying, harassment, and substance use. Safe schools promotes the protection of students from violence, exposure to weapons and threats, theft, bullying, and the sale or use of illegal substances on school grounds.

Google Classroom - Set Up and Tips for TeachersJohn Sowash
For the first time, Google has designed a product for a specific industry. Fortunately for educators, that product is for them! Google Classroom is a brand new tool designed to help ease the burden of sharing and receiving assignments from students.
The excitement surrounding classroom has reached a fever pitch; teachers are ecstatic and can't wait to get their hands on classroom. The excitement may be contributing to inflated expectations, however. Classroom is not a complete classroom solution; it must be used alongside perennial favorites such as Edmodo, Hapara Teacher Dashboard, Moodle, etc.
Don't have access, but eager to see what classroom has to offer? Check out this sneak peak of Google Classroom including instructions on how to setup and manage your first class!
THE FUTURE OF EDUCATION
We are observing “a revolution in education.” We know that improving technology play a distinctive role in the evolution, and traditional foundations will face challenges in the future.
In my presentation, I discuss some initial findings on the future of the 21st-century education.
As a passionate teacher, I am interested how do I best educate my students?
It is not about what I teach, but about how I teach them.
According to the recent literature, on the subject, today’s education is behind new requirements and technologies.
There is a vibrant debate about preparing teachers to use new techniques as well as how up-to-date educators might become more “future-oriented” and familiar with new skills.
I am interested in discussing these thoughts with others.
Certainly, we should take into account the wide-ranging nature of education, which is especially significant, in developing countries.
I do not try to search for a universal remedy of worldwide education. It would be unrealistic.
It is certain that the future education will become more technologically driven, and will function in an environment where success depends on the use of new technology, development and improvements.
It is important to underline that from my perspective; new technology is not going to substitute students in a classroom.
More than that, it will neither replace the social life, nor the transformational experience of progress learners whereby they will go through as part of their study.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

83. Facebook Debate:
“I am really concerned that our kids will be drawn into those critical
attributes in FaceBook that are not related to the classroom topics.
Our kids lack that personal self-discipline.”
“Our responsibility is to teach our students proper etiquette and
prepare them for their careers. Social media isn't going anywhere.
We need to teach not limit.”
“Facebook is one of the ways our students communicate. There is so
much to be taught and supported- how to write appropriately, how
what you write is there forever, and how to manage emotions, at an
already emotional time, when consuming posts.
When we "lock it out" because colleagues don't want to police it or
develop lessons on appropriate use, it doesn't help us help our

84. Leaders who Blog:

“My blog shares ways to integrate technology as well as my
leadership thoughts and ideas. I share my blog with our teachers
and administrators. Often teachers will ask me questions about a
tool or a way to do something with digital resources, and if I've
written about it already or compiled resources I simply link them to
my blog post or wiki resource page. Having a blog and wiki saves me
time in the long run and helps me organize what I have already
researched and wrote about.”
85. Impact on School Culture
“Expanded the classroom walls of learning. Students see technology
access as more than just gossiping on Facebook or Twitter; they are
beginning to see the more practical uses of social media for
learning.”
“It has helped us create a student centred school that allows
students to have choice and influence in their learning. It has helped
us create real and powerful learning experiences and connected our
kids with people all over the world.”
Almost every teacher has an iPad and we have made it apart of
every staff meeting. We are steadily moving towards using some
form of technology in every classroom and building a school
structure to promote tech in the classroom.
86. Impact on School Culture
We have gone from desktop, stand alones to iPads and 1:1 in just 1.5
years. Attendance is up 15%. Discipline incidents are down.
Graduation rate has increased. Parental involvement has increased.
Student pride and engagement is up. Instruction and academic
engagement is up.
The biggest impact has been with teaching students to be cognizant
of their digital footprint. This group of students has always known
technology; few have other means to communicate. Using
Facebook, Instagram and Twitter inappropriately have had negative
consequences on some students (bullying, difficulty securing
employment, questions from college admissions).
Integrating a viable online blog in ELA courses has helped students
self correct, monitor others' writings, and learn quickly from past
mistakes.
87. Positive School Culture Allows Leaders to:
1. Be available to their faculty to assist in improving instructional
strategies through spending more time in classrooms
2. Serve as a mentor and encourage the development of
leadership traits in others
3.Collaborate with other school leaders to improve their own
professional growth and development
4. Communicate openly and honestly with all stakeholders and

student, parent, community, teacher, other leaders if they have the
right skill set and tools. Leaders can block or allow innovation for
themselves and others. Budget cuts are everywhere. Tech support is
down putting more responsibility on building principals. Even more so
when sole building administrator. Tech savvy amplifies school based
efforts in many forms -
instructional, managerial, PD, secretarial, outreach, personal learning
networks, and on and on. Tech savvy helps leaders suck the best
resources from daily, local and national conferences via backchannel.
Tech savvy is a mindset our kids already have. We must do our best to
see through their lens each day. IMO (in my opinion) Tech savvy leaders
tend to trust students and teacher more. We need more trust in
schools.”
