This document discusses information literacy skills for English language learners. It introduces the Big 6 skills model for teaching information literacy, which includes task definition, information seeking strategies, location and access, use of information, synthesis, and evaluation. Examples are provided of specialized search engines for different subject areas as well as projects and activities students can do to practice these skills, such as contributing to Simple Wikipedia. Throughout, the focus is on helping students develop strong research abilities to succeed in their academic studies.
