Information literacy skills are becoming increasingly important as more people rely on the internet for research. Information literacy involves being able to identify an information need and locate, evaluate, and effectively use the information. While two-thirds of teens use the internet as their main research source, only 27% of the sites they use are reliable. Developing information literacy aims to help students become lifelong learners and independent thinkers by teaching them to effectively and efficiently use information and technology.
