Digital images are everywhere. What can we do with those bunch of images, videos, online webcams? By analyzing and understanding the contents of those images, we can make all imaging devices, surveillance devices smarter.
Most of the existing image recognitions systems are based on physical parameters of the images whereas image processing methodologies relies on extraction of color, shape and edge features. Thus Transfer Learning is an efficient approach of solving classification problem with little amount of data. There are many deep learning algorithms but most tested one is AlexNet. It is well known Convolution Neural Network AlexNet CNN for recognition of images using deep learning. So for recognition and detection of the image we have proposed Deep Learning approach in this project which can analyse thousands of images which may take a lot for a human to do. Pretrained convolutional neural network i.e. AlexNet is trained by using the features such as textures, colors and shape. The model is trained on more than 1000 images and can classify images into categories which we have defined. The trained model is tested on various standard and own recorded datasets consist of rotational, translated and shifted images. Thus when a image is passed to the system it will apply AlexNet and return the results with a image category in which the image lies with high accuracy. Thus our project tends to reduce time and cost of image recognition systems using deep learning. Dr. Sachin K. Korde | Manoj J. Munda | Yogesh B. Chintamani | Yasir L. Pirjade | Akshay V. In this paper we analyse the problem of general purpose image upscaling that preserves edge features and
natural appearance and we present the results of subjective and objective evaluation of images interpolated
using different algorithms. In particular, we consider the well-known NEDI (New Edge Directed Interpolation,
Li and Orchard, 2001) method, showing that by modifying it in order to reduce numerical instability and
making the region used to estimate the low resolution covariance adaptive, it is possible to obtain relevant
improvements in the interpolation quality. The implementation of the new algorithm (iNEDI, improved New
Edge Directed Interpolation), even if computationally heavy (as the Li and Orchard’s method), obtained, in
both subjective and objective tests, quality scores that are notably higher than those obtained with NEDI and
other methods presented in the literature.
Prediction of Student's Performance with Deep Neural NetworksCSCJournals
The performance of education has a big part in people's life. The prediction of student's performance in advance is very important issue for education. School administrators and students' parents impact on students' performance. Hence, academic researchers have developed different types of models to improve student performance. The main goal to reveal of this study is to search the best model of neural network models for the prediction of the performance of the high school students. For this purpose, five different types of neural network models have been developed and compared to their results. The data set obtained from Taldykorgan Kazakh Turkish High School (in Kazakhstan) students was used. Test results show that proposed two types of neural network model are predicted students' real performance efficiently and provided better accuracy when the test of today’s and future’s samples have similar characteristics.

An assistive model of obstacle detection based on deep learning: YOLOv3 for v...IJECEIAES
The World Health Organization (WHO) reported in 2019 that at least 2.2 billion people were visual-impairment or blindness. The main problem of living for visually impaired people have been facing difficulties in moving even indoor or outdoor situations. Therefore, their lives are not safe and harmful. In this paper, we proposed an assistive application model based on deep learning: YOLOv3 with a Darknet-53 base network for visually impaired people on a smartphone. The Pascal VOC2007 and Pascal VOC2012 were used for the training set and used Pascal VOC2007 test set for validation. The assistive model was installed on a smartphone with an eSpeak synthesizer which generates the audio output to the user. The experimental result showed a high speed and also high detection accuracy. The proposed application with the help of technology will be an effective way to assist visually impaired people to interact with the surrounding environment in their daily life.

Along with the spreading of online education, the importance of active support of students involved in
online learning processes has grown. The application of artificial intelligence in education allows
instructors to analyze data extracted from university servers, identify patterns of student behavior and
develop interventions for struggling students. This study used student data stored in a Moodle server and
predicted student success in course, based on four learning activities - communication via emails,
collaborative content creation with wiki, content interaction measured by files viewed and self-evaluation
through online quizzes. Next, a model based on the Multi-Layer Perceptron Neural Network was trained to
predict student performance on a blended learning course environment. The model predicted the
performance of students with correct classification rate, CCR, of 98.3%.

VIDEO SEGMENTATION FOR MOVING OBJECT DETECTION USING LOCAL CHANGE & ENTROPY B...csandit
Motion detection and object segmentation are an important research area of image-video
processing and computer vision. The technique and mathematical modeling used to detect and
segment region of interest (ROI) objects comprise the algorithmic modules of various high-level
techniques in video analysis, object extraction, classification, and recognition. The detection of
moving object is significant in many tasks, such as video surveillance & moving object tracking.
The design of a video surveillance system is directed on involuntary identification of events of
interest, especially on tracking and on classification of moving objects. An entropy based realtime
adaptive non-parametric window thresholding algorithm for change detection is
anticipated in this research. Based on the approximation of the value of scatter of sections of
change in a difference image, a threshold of every image block is calculated discriminatively
using entropy structure, and then the global threshold is attained by averaging all thresholds for
image blocks of the frame. The block threshold is calculated contrarily for regions of change
and background. Investigational results show the proposed thresholding algorithm
accomplishes well for change detection with high efficiency.

In recent time, along with the advances and new inventions in science and technology, fraud people and identity thieves are
also becoming smarter by finding new ways to fool the authorization and authentication process. So, there is a strong need of efficient
face recognition process or computer systems capable of recognizing faces of authenticated persons. One way to make face recognition
efficient is by extracting features of faces. This paper is to compare the relative efficiency of Lip Extraction and Eye extraction feature
for face recognition in biometric devices. Importance of this paper is to bring to the light which Feature Extraction method provides
better results under various conditions. For recognition experiments, I used face images of persons from different sets of YALE

Mining and Clustering the Feature Similarities of Images on Smart PhoneIIRindia
With the fame of visual sensor on smart phone devices, (i.e. camera) it becomes a habit for many people to capture photos everyday and everywhere. This led to the rapid developing of more personal images and becomes a nuisance to the users in storing and organizing them, which had not been used before. Luckily, cloud storage provided a comprehensive solution at the right moment, and it facilitates the synchronization and sharing of images acquired. However, organizing this bulk number of personal images is still a tedious and difficult task. Common needs in photo organization may involve tagging, destroying replicated or same images, and collecting photos into albums. In our proposed system, we target to provide a features similarity images, face detection and recognition, avoid redundancy on smart mobile application which makes use of existing sensors and related technologies to help users to manage replicate or same images more effectively. By sharpening the power of cloud computing for SSIM algorithm, our system significantly reduce the time spent on managing photos in a neat and simple way which reduce user stress and increase user experience.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

DeWa : A Multiaspect Approach for
Multiple Face Detection in Complex
Scene Digital Image. A new approach
is developed based on philosophy and
knowledge of computational vision
process.
1 Segmentation: two methods are used
for segmentation, Piecewise Linier
Decision and Gaussian Mixture
Models, implemented in four color
models, RGB, RGB normalized, HSI
and YCbCr.
2 Noise Removal: noises are removed
and image is enhanced by
Morphological filters and Connected
Component Labelling.
3 Object Detection: each detected
objects are analyzed and measured to
conform the facial geometric criteria
4 The faces then are extracted for the
next implementation.
