4. Projects:
Mu-Rhythm Template Matching Classifier for One-Dimensional Cursor Control
Purpose: This project is a part of the project “Assistive Devices for ALS and
Quadriplegic Patients” which is funded by the Department of Science and
Technology, New Delhi. The aim of this project is to build a wheelchair that works
in accordance with the user’s thought that is communicated to the wheelchair
through his brain signals.
Guide: Dr. Bipin Indurkhya, Dr. I A Pasha
Eye-Tracker for Quadriplegic People
Purpose: This project is a part of the project “Assistive Devices for ALS and
Quadriplegic Patients” which is funded by the Department of Science and
Technology, New Delhi. The aim of this project is to build a wheelchair that
moves with the user’s accord that the system understands through gaze
interaction and the user’s eye movement
Guide: Dr. I A Pasha
Pictorial Metaphors in India Comics
Purpose: This experiment concentrates on investigating the role of the various
kinds of pictorial runes in comics. Current work in being done on the comic series
“Tintin and the Picaros”
Guide: Dr. Bipin Indurkhya
Perceptual Similarity in Imagery while comprehending Textual Metaphors
Purpose: The main aim of this experiment was to check if perceptual features of
instantiated concepts from past experiences or memory play an important role in
anchoring the meaning while processing textual metaphors. And also, to see if
perceptual similarity between instantiated source and target concepts help in
creating conceptual associations
Guide: Dr. Bipin Indurkhya
Visual vs. Textual Metaphors
Purpose: The major area of focus of this experiment is to examine the role of
perceptual features in both visual and textual metaphors hypothesizing that
perceptual features play a greater role than conceptual features in interpreting
both visual and textual metaphors
Guide: Dr. Bipin Indurkhya
5. Music and Emotion
Purpose: This experiment was done to prove the hypothesis “A person tends to
swing to the mood of a particular song when he listens to it”. This involved using
the eye-tracker
Guide: Dr. Bipin Indurkhya
Online Slam Book
Purpose: To implement all the principles of Usability and come up with a user
friendly online slam book
Guide: Dr. Bipin Indurkhya
Efficient Crawling through URL ordering
Purpose: Since a crawler cannot visit the entire Web in a reasonable amount of
time, this project examines the order in which a crawler should visit the URLs it
has seen, in order to obtain the more important pages first
Guide: Dr.P.K.Reddy
RNA Structure Database Query
Purpose: This project involved making a portal from where one could give the
properties of interest and the system would give the right structure of the RNA
Guide: Dr. Abhijeet Mitra
