This document provides an overview of an industrial training on construction conducted at Simplex Infrastructures Ltd. It acknowledges those involved in organizing the training. Simplex Infrastructures Ltd is introduced as a leading construction company in India and abroad since 1924. The trainees were involved in a housing project called Elita Garden Vista being constructed by Simplex. The training covered various aspects of construction planning, material management, formwork, surveying, quality control, plant and machinery used, and site execution process. The trainees concluded it was a valuable learning experience beyond their academic curriculum.

 STRUCTURE: R.C.C Structure with shear wall concept.
 SPECIFICATIONS:
 Foundation concrete : Design mix concrete M-25
 Wall : Ground floor & other floors of R.C.C. cement concrete
M-50 grade & Brick masonry in cement mortar.
 Structure : The complete structure is of R.C.C. shear wall
frame structure in M-50 grade concrete.

5. SAFETY
WHAT ?
• Difficult to define due to its inter -relatedness
with several factors.
• Anything devoid of accident is SAFE.
• “ A thing is provisionally categorized as safe
if its risks are deemed known and,the light
of that knowledge, judged to be acceptable”
• Safety is inversely proportional to accident
rate. High Rate lower the safety And vice-
versa.
• Safety comes from common sense . To build a
safe working environment an engineer have to
be SMART. Where SMART stands for-
• S = Seriousness
• M = Meritorious
• A = Aim
• R = Responsibility
• T = Time bound
WHY?
• Below chart showing the parameters, which
are related to the safety of an organization. As
safety is related to many variable parameters,
so safety is an important and primary criteria
at the construction sites. From some previous
year record hundreds of fatal injuries to
workers in construction sites took place due to
lack of safety awareness. Construction safety
is required to reduce tangible and intangible
losses.

6. MATERIAL MANAGEMENT
 Material Management is the function
responsible for the coordination of planning,
sourcing, purchasing, moving, storing and
controlling materials in an optimum manner so
as to a pre-decided service to the customer at a
minimum cost.
 Whenever construction work begins, a lot of
resources are needed. Initially a list of raw
materials and machineries are prepared. For
procurement of raw materials quotations
&sample are being taken from three or four
parties and they talk about the external party
takes some time and gives a rate chart
including VAT, tax etc. The party which
provides the minimum is chosen but they
should be an authenticated one. In this way the
store works along with the purchase dept.
Machineries are being planned arranged and
provided to the construction site by the cos-
corporate office. Sometimes hiring is being
made to fulfill the requirement.
Store is responsible for the receiving, storing and
issuing of raw materials, machineries and all kinds
of equipment to be used at the construction site.
Providing the necessary facilities and services to
support successful completion of project is
sometimes overlooked or put low on the priority
list when bidding or setting up a project. Basically
the store department is in the control of receiving
or issuing, quantity, proper store, quality and
maintaining records and accounting of items.

7. PLANNING
 A construction project must be completed
according to design and specification for the
quality and serviceability purpose. But a
perfectly completed project may become
wastage, if it is not completed within
scheduled time or contract duration. As the
time directly proportioned to the money, a
great car should be taken on the execution
time scheduling. A good planning of work can
increase the profitability. This planning of
work is prepared by the planning department
team under the guidance of Project manager.
The work of this department starts at the very
beginning of the commencement of a project
after getting the structural and architectural

8. SYSTEM FORMWORK
• Shuttering is formwork for the concrete
casting of the structural elements. Shuttering
can be vertical or horizontal as per
requirement. Shuttering can be done by wood
or steel formwork depending upon the
availability of material and cost. For RCC
shuttering more care should be taken for
formwork. It is a temporary arrangement and
it requires to hold the concrete up to certain
period for gaining adequate strength of the
concrete.
• CODE : IS : 456 – 2000 (Indian Standard)
shall be referred to prepare shuttering concrete
casting.

9. SURVEY & LEVELLING
• Survey is the primary work for a building
project. There are various types of survey in
general. Among them first land survey has to be
accomplish after selecting the project site. This
land survey may includes measurement of land
area, level of the project site land etc. According
to the report of the survey team designer can
proceed to design the buildings or structures. As
total structural design of a structure depends on
the survey report, so Survey an most important
job for construction.

11. QUALITY CONTROL
 Quality is the most important agenda for production of any type of product. In construction site
quality of the material, work and maintenance should be kept properly. There is a separate
department to maintain quality of the constructional production. this department is named as
Quality Control Department. This department is responsible for all the materials being delivered on
the site.
 Any material which is supplied to site is first check by an authorized person from quality
department. It is also responsibility of this department to check whether the construction work is
going on properly according to specified manner or not.

12. TESTS FOR CONCRETE
SLUMP TEST
• AIM: To determine the workability of fresh
concrete.

13. SITE EXECUTION
This project “Elita Garden Vista” is mainly divided into two phases. In which phase I is completed and phase
II work is going on. Under phase II, Block 6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13 construction is to be conducted.

15. CONCLUSION
• Vocational training is a part of our MAKAUT –WB curriculum. But after
getting this 30 days vocational training at “Elita garden vista” under
Simplex Infrastructures Limited, it was not just a vocational training for
University syllabus to us. This training gives a lot of technical knowledge,
which will help us to build our carrier. This session introduced us with a
work friendly, safe environment, and gives us lot of opportunities to build
technical knowledge on modern construction techniques.
• Apart from technical knowledge we are grateful enough to the engineers
who shared their work experience with us. There are a lot of things which
cannot be learnt from any books or institution but an exposure to such a
construction site can only provide. Such construction site related essential
terms and knowledge of work will help us throughout our work life.
• In conclusion We would like to thanks again Simplex Infrastructures
Limited for giving us this opportunity and we look forward to working with
