Logbook For Industrial Supervision and Training- A Look at Paper and Digital ...Olufemi Jeremiah Olubodun
Logbook has been in use for many years and mostly for keeping records and these records could be personal or official. Anyone keeping record defines the criteria and the format it will take. For training institutions format of a logbook is well laid out for students to just fill in blank spaces. This has a lot of limitations. However, logbook is usually paper based and few digital logbooks available placed a number of restrictions on the user such that they are not very useful for industrial training. This paper looks at logbook in diverse ways and it was a product of a research conducted at the College of Medicine of the University of Lagos, Lagos Nigeria. This will expose the reader to a number of salient details often ignored about logbook

Fundamentals of Web Development For Non-DevelopersLemi Orhan Ergin
This is the 2nd material of my technical training about "Fundamentals of Web Development" to non-developers, especially to business people and business analysts. This presentation covers some advanced topics that I did not cover in my previous "Fundamentals of Web" training. Even though most of the information I mention verbally in the training, the slides could help the ones who are not very familiar with web and web applications.
This is my technical report on my 6 months Industrial Training on Web Design (i.e HTML, CSS, JAVASCRIPT, PHP, DATABASE) using the format as stated in the SIWES Hand Book.

Web Development on Web Project PresentationMilind Gokhale
Web development on web was part of a project in the final year of Engineering to demonstrate the implementation and application of SaaS using Microsoft Silverlight.
The application facilitated creation of web pages without having a need to install any HTML editor based software.
about this presentation:
1) this presentation was a quickie for non-tech employees, who wanted a basic understanding of html/css, as it related to a white-label SAAS product;
2) the back-end/front-end definitions relate to the specific application (it's inaccurate if node.js is in the picture)

A Portable server is the combination of popular web server software, namely Apache, MySQL, PHP and
PhpMyAdmin. With a portable server, users can develop and display a developed website anywhere at any
time as all web server configurations have been installed on the storage drive. Portable servers are ideal for
displaying the offline version of the website anywhere when developing a website. Using a mobile server as
well, users do not need hosting that requires complicated configuration and can be used to run tests before
putting the website online. This study aims to obtain preliminary findings on building portable web server
development kits for the teaching and learning process.

This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.
2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.

19. 6. Preparation For the Next Webometric Ranking
The term webometric is a coinage from two modern English language
words, “web” and “metric.”
The Webometric ranking of the World’s universities done by
Cybermetrics Lab is based on metrics such as web size, rich files,
Google Scholar and link (visibility).
Webometric is based on two indicators:
a. Volume of published materials of institutions/individual on the web,
b. The visibility and impact of the web pages measured by the sitation
(site citations) or links they receive.
20. Other Skills
Interpersonal Skills in relating with colleagues, Staff as
well as clients
Analytical Skills for problem Identification, analysis
and providing solutions.
Managerial Skills
Communication Skills
21. Recomendations
The recommendation will be directed to the three stakeholders
of the program; the students, institution and ITF.
A. ITF
ITF should make monthly allowance available for students at
time due so as to put an end to financial difficulties that may
arise during the course of the program.
22. B. STUDENT
The idea of the program as “just” SIWES should be
corrected as it is a major step towards developing any
career.
Prospective students should seek internship in
establishment with goals similar to their Aim.
Students should prepare themselves technically for the
challenge of the IT world.
Students should show positive disposition to all tasks
that they may be assigned during the industrial
training
Students should start surveying potential companies
early so that the difficulties of finding placement will
be combed.
23. C. INSTITUTION
The University should try to collaborate with some industries
in order to get easy placement for students.
I. The following are suggested to improve Fountain
University Wireless network
There should be a dedicated bandwidth for student wireless
net work
A stable power supply should be ensured for the NOC to
prevent the network from going down
Ensure internet connectivity in the University by Using
Mikrotic Grooves and Omni directional Antennas for
distribution of network to Various Access point in the
university
The university should ensure a proper Monitoring and
maintenance of the University wireless network
24. ii. The following are suggested to improve
Fountain University Website visibility
Establish aWeb Unit to manage the school website
Ensure the university website is updated regularly
The University Website should have a mobile phone
version because about 60% of Internet users in Nigeria
now access the internet through mobile devices
The use of RSS feeds so that other websites can subscribe
to site updates from fountain website
Create a sub domain for all colleges, and units in the
university
Language translation options should be enabled for
internationalization of the University e.g. Arabic,
French, Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa, Dutch etc.
25. Use online polls to gather more information on
what the people want from the site
Advertise the university website with adsword
Register the website on applications such as
Google Map, Google Scholar
Online journal systems should be deployed for the
hosting of journals within the university web
domain.
The website videos, seasonal banners and social
media links should be included on the website.
A wireless network uses radio waves, just like cell phones, televisions and radios do. In fact, communication across a wireless network is a lot like two-way radio communication. Here's what happens:
A computer's wireless adapter translates data into a radio signal and transmits it using an antenna.
A wireless router receives the signal and decodes it. The router sends the information to the Internet using a physical, wired Ethernet connection.
The process also works in reverse, with the router receiving information from the Internet, translating it into a radio signal and sending it to the computer's wireless adapter.
