This document outlines an individual film pitch that begins with a young man engaged in a drug deal being chased by police through central London. He hides at a fellow gang member's flat before finally being caught by police. The target audience for this crime genre film would be 16-25 year olds. Key aspects that would make the film distinct include its setting in busy central London, costumes to make the police character believable, and background non-diegetic sounds to enhance the location. Production companies like 20th Century Fox would be suitable partners given their experience with thriller/crime films.
2. Opening sequence
• In the opening of the film would be a teenager/young adult gets
caught doing a drug deal when the police recognise his face from a
wanted poster.
• When the boy tries to run away from the police there is a chase threw
central London.
• To create enigma the boy would hide in his fellow gang members flat
where he gives him want the police are chasing him for.
• After he leaves the flat the police finally catch him yet cannot find
what they are after.
3. Film inspiration
• I took inspiration from a previous students film opening.
• As the genre would be a crime it would be full of interesting and
tense moments.
4. Target audience
• The target audience for this film would be 16-25 year olds.
• This is a good target audience to have as this is the main age group
that watch new films.
5. Distinct
• Setting- a possible setting for this film would be in the middle of
London when it is very busy and crowded.
• Characters – There would be 2 main characters in the film. The first
would be the boy/young adult who commits the crime and the other
would be a policeman.
• Text analysis – The titles would be simple yet affective in possible
plain white or black writing. If there is a policeman or secret
investigator they will need costumes to make it look believable. As
the location for the film would be in the middle of London we could
add non diegetic sounds in the background.
6. Representation
• Characters – As one of the main characters would be a teenager/young adult they would
represent a classic person from a London gang. This would be represented in what they
wear, how they walk and how they speak etc.
• Location – The location of the film would be made very clear that it was in London by
showing any of the following:
- Red buses
- London eye
- Big ben
- Black taxis
- River thames
- Busy streets full of working men and women
7. Institution
• The type of production companies which would help with the
production of this film would be 20th century fox as they have
previously produced thriller/crime films such as Taken and Gone girl.
