I collected advertisements from different magazine and interest sources. I used three magazines to
review and collect advertisements from. The magazines are called Watch, Discover Beauty Within,
and Seventeen. Watch magazine is a lifestyle magazine entertainment, fashion and beauty
magazine. This magazine gives audience a look into the world of celebrities and style through the
celebrity s perspective. The magazinecontains interviews and photo shoots of celebrities. Discover
Beauty Within is a beauty magazine launched by Walgreens that provides tips, tricks and coupons
exclusively to shoppers at Walgreens. Seventeen magazine is a fashion magazine that consist of
fashion, beauty, dating, and health tips. The magazines varied from teens, adult magazine and
beauty. I used six internet sources for additional advertisements online. I used four different blogs,
Victoria Secret, and CBS network. The selection of magazines and internet sources targeted women
of different ages and topics. A significant amount of the sources for women seem to have the same
subject matter, such as beauty, fashion, relationship advice, and celebrities.

Another trend evident in the Civil war was the reason for fighting the war. Both the Confederate
and Union army soldiers had their own unique reasons for fighting the war. The Confederate
soldiers had a strong martial will to fight and defend the ways of the South (Farmer, 2005). This
attitude was strong in the beginning and as the war endured, many had become less enthusiastic
about the war effort but remained loyal to the cause and war (Faust, 1990). Some of the
Confederate soldiers would actually return home prompted by the women back home who had
become disillusioned with the war effort (Spiegel, 1863) and stopped proving support to the
war effort. The Confederacy did not lose the war due to lack of effort, it was merely due to the

The main assumption of the biological approach is behaviour and experiences can be explained by
biological changes in the body. This approach focusses on the investigation of the brain, nervous
system and other biological factors such as hormones; whereas the main assumption of the
cognitive approach is that information received from our senses is processed by the brainand that
this processing influences how we behave or at least justifies how we behave the way we do.
Cognitive processes are examples of hypothetical constructs researchers cannot directly observe
processes such as thinking but we can infer what a person is thinking based on how they act
(behavioural patterns). Some key researchers in the biological approach are Maguire et. Al (2000)

Hemisphere disconnection and unity in consciousness. Some key researchers in the cognitive

settings. This is done so that the researchers can take advantage of the naturally occurring variables

variables, and can therefore easily establish cause and effect.

economist David Ricardo, in his On the principles of political economy and taxation. The
underlying idea of the comparative advantage theory is that the countries possess different

In chapter one of our book it is talking about the sociological perspective. Sociology is defined as
the systematic study of human society. It is explained that sociological perspective is seeing the
common in the specific. Sociologists look for common patterns in the behavior of certain
people. I found it very interesting in chapter one where it states that higher class white men are
more likely to commit suicide than any other population and that between genders; men are more
likely to commit suicide. This is interesting because I would have thought the roles were
reversed. I would have thought that women are more likely to commit suicide because women
