Independence Day
1. Independence Day
Independence Day marks Latvia's declaration of independence on November 18,
1918. So, on that day we celebrate the birthday of our country.
Every year singing festival is held in our school. We gather together in front of
the school, each pupil carries a little burning candle. And we sing our favourite songs.
Each class sings its song. It is very important to be aware of the fact that a song can
unite us and we all are Latvia’s children. At the end pupils and teachers form a star of
dark red candles.
For junior pupils the similar event is held in the school assembly hall, but it is also
very festive and at the same time touching.
