This document discusses the potential impacts and opportunities of Technology 4.0. It describes 6 major technologies - industrial internet of things, additive manufacturing, data processing, artificial intelligence, virtual/augmented reality, and collaborative robotics. It argues that Technology 4.0 will transform production, reproduction, bioeconomy, wealth creation, and human self-understanding. Specifically, it may shift humans from toolmakers to "God makers" and require rethinking concepts like property, identity, and quality of life. While changes may be accelerated and challenging, the document also argues that embracing Technology 4.0 could enhance learning, homogenize cultures to improve logistics, and create a more just allocation of resources.

Future of Collaboration - ISPIM - Budapest - 15 June 2015Future Agenda
As part of the global future agenda programme we ran an event in partnership with ISPIM in Budapest in June 2015. This focused on the future of collaboration and drew together different issues raised about collaboration from several strands of the future agenda events to date. The aim of the event wss to critique, enhance, add and build a clearer view of how collaboration will change over the next decade and what will be some of the key impacts and implications. This documents includes both the key ouputs and the starting point for this discussion.
We all know that the world is changing quicker than ever before, and that businesses are always looking for new ways to create advantages for themselves. Cerys will explore the market dynamics that are combining to create a volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous operating environment for businesses and the new types of organisational risk that these are creating. Then, looking at some of the most innovative businesses in the world, highlight some of the new business models, organisational structures and ways of working that are coming together to help transform companies for the 21st century.
Future of the sharing economy An emerging view 30 March 2017Future Agenda
Humans have always shared. More recently, enabled by technology, new forms of sharing and access have begun to transform industries as well as the way we live our lives, creating financial return and social reward for participants. From AirBnB (爱彼迎 ) to Uber and Didi Chuxing, the sharing economy has rapidly moved from niche to mainstream in a number of categories, most notably accommodation and transportation.
But where next? Building on insights from the wider Future Agenda programme with recent research and interviews with a number of industry leaders and experts, we’re delighted to share an emerging view of the Future of the Sharing Economy.
Over the next few weeks we are asking for feedback and opinion from around the world. We’d really welcome your perspective, comments, challenge and additional insights to co-create an enriched informed future view for all. We will then update and share.

The new fundamentals-Seizing opportunities with AI in the cognitive economyLynn Reyes
We are in a new era of exponential learning and the world is transitioning to a cognitive economy. All—organizations, industries, governments, individuals—are learning, interacting in dynamic ecosystems and augmenting intelligence at increasing scales. Disruptive forces are reshaping societies and economies; and the impact of technology is especially profound. Data, emerging technologies and cyber-turbulence will continue to fuel disruption into the future. Leaders will also need to become agile visionary doers. Government will play a critical role in establishing the foundation of a knowledge-based, learning society. New fundamentals are needed.

Climate Impact of Software Testing at Nordic Testing DaysKari Kakkonen
My slides at Nordic Testing Days 6.6.2024
Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

GDG Cloud Southlake #33: Boule & Rebala: Effective AppSec in SDLC using Deplo...James Anderson
Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
