Human Trafficking in the United States
Products from all over the world are being distributed and sold from other countries to people in the
United States. Imports and exports to and from the U.S include products as wide ranged as food,
clothes, and even people. Human trafficking is a worldwide problem, including the United States.
Currently, there are approximately 20.9 million people enslaved throughout the world with 2.5 million
located in the United States. About 14,500 17,500 of foreign nationals are trafficked into the United
States every year (Human trafficking statistics). These statistics show that slavery is still alive and
flourishing throughout the entire world. When humans are exchanged, exploited, and forced into
prostitution, and involuntary labor, it is called human trafficking. Human trafficking is a very serious
problem which has been going on for centuries; I believe spreading awareness is imperative to solving
this ongoing problem. There has been many government attempts to try to alleviate this problem in the
past with the Emancipation Proclamation, the Thirteenth Amendment, Out of the 20.9 million people
that are enslaved in the world, more than 70 percent are female and half are children (Human
trafficking statistics). Approximately 80% of trafficking involves sexual exploitation and many
victims are runaway girls who were sexually abused as children (Human trafficking statistics).
Although the government has tried numerous things to stop human trafficking, it is still happening.

Television as an Agent of Socialization
Television as an Agent of Socialization
I chose the first episode of the very popular television program The Event. I viewed the first episode
on Netflix, October 20, 2011. This program originally aired on NBC, September 10, 2010, and is titled
I Haven t Told You Everything . This program has a total of twenty two series to date and is classified
as an action adventure drama. After viewing a picture of the main characters with the synopsis of this
program, I noticed immediately that this was a male dominated show. The picture shows seven people
standing together and merely two of the seven are female. The premise of the story is about a man
searching for his missing fiancé. The story line was a prime example of the gender male ... Show more

They have their status titles which come along with expectations, but they are all conflicted with
another issue that is still a mystery during this episode.
This show represents men as the influential leaders in our society. The creators of this series opted to
categorize all the professions with male dominated characters emphasizing the glass ceiling effect.
Consequently, the undertone of this series reflected woman as the weaker less important of the two
sexes. The women in this series for example were waitresses, flight attendants, and news broadcasters.
Even when the producers had a woman portrayed in the same profession they gave the speaking role
to the man. For example there is a man and a woman working at an information desk on a ship, the
main character automatically goes to the man while the woman is shown in the background. Even the
role of the staff of seven setting the tables for the president only consisted of one woman; in this scene
it would have been plausible to have more than one woman, since this is categorized as a woman
gender career.
The Event did not disappoint with my hypothesis that this was a heavily male dominated program.
The content of this show illustrates the social hierarchy and roles that men play in society.
Subsequently, the major life events change the direction and course of the actors and force them into
new roles, norms and values with their characters.
I think that TV s powers of

by an APRN fall within the APRN s scope of practice under their state law. Commercial third party
payers do not consistently provide reimbursement for the APRN; however, their rates and policies

evaluation and management (E M) codes for Medicare reimbursement. CPT codes are a systematic
listing and coding of procedures or services performed by the APRN. The American Medical
Association (AMA) establishes, maintains, and copyrights the CPT codes. The five digit number
allocated to each code indicates a particular service or procedure. CPT codes provide a consistent

Comprehensive is a general multi system examination or complete examination of a single organ
system and other symptomatic or related body area or organ system. The type and extent of the
examination is determined by clinical judgment, patient s history, and nature of the problem. The
classification of E M services endorse four types of clinical medical decision making: straightforward,
low complexity, moderate complexity, and high complexity. Clinical decisions refer to the complexity
of establishing a diagnosis or choosing a management option. The complexity is determined by the
volume of possible diagnoses or management options, and the volume or complexity of medical
records, diagnostic tests, or other information that must be obtained, reviewed, and analyzed. The risk
of complications, morbidity or mortality, and comorbidities associated with the patient s problem, the
diagnostic procedure or management options also determines the classification of medical decision
making (Department of Health and Human Services, Centers for Medicare Medicaid Services, 2014b).
The International Classification of Diseases (ICD) is the standard diagnostic tool for epidemiology,
health management and clinical purposes. ICD includes the evaluation of the overall health conditions
of populations and is used to surveil the incidence and prevalence of diseases and other health issues.
ICD is used by the APRN to classify diseases

The Dark Knight Unraveled
When someone says superhero, it is automatically assumed that one is talking about someone who
saves others using extraordinary powers or someone who is there to protect and make others feel safe.
For decades, superheroes have been around fighting crime and saving civilians from the villains that
reign. These superheroes create a light and give the viewer some kind of hope. Although a superhero
is seen as someone who is god like, there is one hero who defies this stereotype. His name: Batman.
Batman has been around for nearly seventy five years and has evolved into a a very controversial
character. Some people may see Batman as a dark figure who is not a hero, but a nuisance, while
others may see him as something greater than a superhero. In Christopher Nolan s, The Dark Knight,
released in 2008, Batman is a character who is seen in a different way than previous iterations. Instead
of just a crime fighting hero, Batman is presented as something greater as well as something some
may overlook. In Nolan s 2008 film, Batman portrays a character that not only relates to society on a
person level, but also parallels the Bush administration post 9/11. Imagine watching the ones you love,
murdered right before your eyes. At a young age, Batman had to watch his parents get shot and killed
by a ruthless mugger. Batman had this tragic childhood which is something many young people today
can relate to. Professor of Psychology at Henderson State University, Dr. Travis Langly,

Action Research in Od
ACTION RESEARCH ORG. MIRRORING IN OD
Action research is a reflective process of progressive problem solving led by individuals working with
others in teams or as part of a community of practice to improve the way they address issues and solve
problems. Action research can also be undertaken by larger organizations or institutions, assisted or
guided by professional researchers, with the aim of improving their strategies, practices, and
knowledge of the environments within which they practice. Kurt lewin described action research as a
comparative research on the conditions and effects of various forms of social action and research

Data are again gathered from the client system so that progress can be determined and necessary
adjustments in learning activities can be made. Minor adjustments of this nature can be made in
learning activities via Feedback Loop B (see Figure)
[pic]
.Major adjustments and reevaluations would return the OD project to the first, or planning, stage for
basic changes in the program. The action research model shown in Figure 1 closely follows Lewin s
repetitive cycle of planning, action, and measuring results. It also illustrates other aspects of Lewin s
general model of change. As indicated in the diagram, the planning stage is a period of unfreezing, or
problem awareness. The action stage is a period of changing, that is, trying out new forms of behavior
in an effort to understand and cope with the system s problems. (There is inevitable overlap between
the stages, since the boundaries are not clear cut and cannot be in a continuous process). The results
stage is a period of refreezing, in which new behaviors are tried out on the job and, if successful and
reinforcing, become a part of the system s repertoire of problem solving behavior.Action research is
problem centered, client centered, and action oriented. It involves the client system in a diagnostic,
active learning, problem finding, and problem solving process. Data are not simply returned in the
form of a written report but

Release of Heavy Metals in the Environment
Release of heavy metals in the environment is one of the major pollution problems. Day by day
concentration of these metals is increasing in water supplies due to various industrial processing.
Different industries such as steel manufacturing, fertilizer and pesticide industry, leather tanning,
electroplating, metallurgy, mining and smelting of metalliferous, surface finishing industry, energy and
fuel production industries, electrolysis, electro osmosis, photography, electric appliance
manufacturing, metal surface treating industries are mainly responsible for releasing heavy metals into
the environment , effluents of these industries are mainly loaded with heavy metals ions.
These heavy metals are very toxic for all living organisms even at very low concentration. Most
common examples of heavy metals are Zinc, Cadmium, Chromium, Arsenic, Lead and Copper.
Heavy metals are classified in three categories on the basis of nature of metal and its value and these
metals have higher specific weight usually more than 5.0 g/cm3 (Bishop, 2002; Volesky, 1990; Wang
Chen, 2006).
1. Toxic heavy metals including Cr, Pb, Zn, Hg, Cu, Ni, Cd, As, Co, Sn, etc.,
2. Precious metals such as Pd, Pt, Ag, Au, Ru etc.
3. Radionuclides such as U, Th, Ra, Am, etc.
Extensive research has been done in previous years for the detoxification of heavy metal ions.
There are mainly three methods available for the removal of heavy metals physical, chemical and
biological.

How Did Orpheus Feel Like After Eurydice
I feel like the written myth was better than the movie adaption of it. The movie made some sense more
dramatic than they needed to be and other sense that I thought were pretty important in the myth was
not in the movie at all. None the less I did not think the movie was all that bad when are you are
comparing it to the written myth. Reading the myth before watching the movie might be the best
thing, it helps explain some information that helps explain some things in the movie. One aspect of the
written myth that I really enjoyed is how they explained Orpheus and how his mother gave him the
gift of music, in the movie it is easy to tell that Orpheus really enjoyed music. It was enjoyable to read
the background information that explained ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After reading the myth I feel like the director added the Death to show that Eurydice and Orpheus
relationship was failed from the beginning. They never had a chance to be together they were doomed
from the start. Apart from Death they also had to deal with Orpheus crazy fiancé (Or ex fiancé but
Orpheus never ended things with her) who did not want them together. Mira was the total opposite of
Eurydice. Eurydice had a feeling of innocence with her where Mira just seemed to flaunt everything
she had. I feel like Mira also could represent the Viper that killed Eurydice in the myth. After she
found out that Eurydice pretended to be her cousin to be by Orpheus during the carnival she went
crazy and chased after Eurydice. I feel like the main image that showed Mira as the Viper is when she
grabbed the giant staple like thing they could represent fangs of a viper. I do not think the director put
this scene in the movie for no reason. One aspect of the movie that I liked would be the two little boys.
They helped the movie flow and the story seemed to be mostly told from their points of view. I did
really like how the end of the movie they seemed to end on more of a happy note compared to the
myth. I like how they represented a new Orpheus as one of the little boys since when he played
Orpheus guitar and sun started the rise. They ended the movie but still left

How Lewis Structures Are Constructed
Lewis Structure shows how atoms in a covalent bond share electrons. Dots are used to show lone pairs
of electrons, and lines symbolize bonds. This essay will explain how Lewis Structures are constructed.
The first step is counting how many valence electrons there are. Determine the number of electrons
that are in the outer shells of each atom. For example, H2O has 6 valence electrons in oxygen and 1 in
hydrogen. Therefore, there are 8 total since there are two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom. Non
valence electrons are not expressed.
Next, write the symbols for each atom and connect them with single bonds. The order of the atoms in
the formula usually shows connectivity. HCN is written H C N in its Lewis Structure. If there are only
two types of atoms, the central atom is usually written first and has lower electronegativity.
After writing symbols and connecting elements with single bonds, complete the octets of surrounding
atoms with lone pairs. The octet rule states most atoms bond so that every atom has eight electrons in
its outer shell to gain stability of the Noble gases. CF4, for example, has all single bonds and ... Show

Nitric oxide is an example of this with eleven electrons in its outer shells, and nitrogen ends up with
only 6 valence electrons. Another molecule that violates the rule is one that does not need eight
valence electrons. For example, in H2O, the hydrogen atoms only need two electrons around them
instead of eight. One other example of a violation is when molecules have extra electrons. SF4 is an
example as sulfur has a lone pair and four covalent bonds, which gives it 10 valence electrons. This is
only possible with atoms that are in the third row of the periodic table or lower with unfilled d
orbitals. Therefore, exceptions can only occur in molecules that have odd numbers of electrons or with
atoms that have only the first energy level or empty

The Pond Is Healthy Or Unclean Essay
Introduction ~ Throughout the course of about a week, the 9th grade class at CEEC took samples of the
pond at UNCC for an experiment to determine whether or not if the pond is in a safe or in a harmful
environment and if the pond is healthy or unclean. University of North Carolina Charlotte and its
health is an important factor to the survival of the animals around it. North Carolina is a southern US
state with landscape ranging from the atlantic ocean to the appalachian mountains. Charlotte is the
state largest city it is home to the NFL s Carolina Panthers and the Nascar Hall of Fame UNCC s
campus has a early college program named the Charlotte Engineering Early College, with a pond
located to the left of CEEC.This pond is the home to many animals such as fish, ducks, tadpoles,
canadian geese, turtles, and cattail, and is a source of water for the university. In order to be able to
use this water, the pond health must be healthy. However, what makes a pond really healthy?
Pond health is determined by its pH levels, its levels of biodiversity, its dissolved oxygen levels, its
temperature, its range of tolerance, its air temperature, and its amount of nitrogen. In order for a pond
to be healthy it must have the correct amount of each on of these things.
One significant factor to pond health is pH. pH stands for hydrogen of power, which is the
measurement of the hydrogen ion in the experiment you have to complete. pH is normally scaled of

Essay on Objectification of Women in The House of Mirth
Objectification of Women in The House of Mirth
Edith Wharton s The House of Mirth is an affront to the false social values of fashionable New York
society. The heroine is Lily Bart, a woman who is destroyed by the very society that produces her. Lily
is well born but poor. The story traces the decline of Lily as she moves through a series of living
residences, from houses to hotel lodgings. Lily lives in a New York society where appearances are all.
Women have a decorative function in such an environment, and even her name, Lily, suggests she is a
flower of femininity, i.e. an object of decoration as well as of desirability to the male element. We see
this is very true once Lily s bloom fades, as it were, a time when she ... Show more content on

The irony of the situation is that most women who are accepted by society and are able to maintain the
role of being something worthy to look at are able to do so only because of a husband who supplies
them with the necessary funds to achieve it. In other words, in a male dominated society wherein
women largely need the financial support of men to be accepted, they have become commodities. Lily
recognizes this predicament when she ponders her marriage to Percy Gryce, a position where she
would be to him what his Americana hitherto had been: the one possession in which he took sufficient
pride to spend money on (Wharton 65).
Yet, this very society that demand its women be superficial creatures that merit worth only by
appearance is also one which immediately rejects a woman who seems intent on marrying a man with
wealth the one course open to women who wish to be accepted in society. This may be where one of
Lily s character qualities prevents her from being able to join such a society. She is no good at hiding
her desire to marry a man of wealth. In fact, she even tells Selden, her true love, that she is very
expensive and must have a great deal of money (Wharton 31). These kinds of admissions make Lily

The Effect Of Ink Color ( Cool, Warm And Black ) On The...
What is the effect of ink color (cool, warm and black) on the memory of students? Humans, especially
students, are always look for new ways to improve their memory. Memorization is an important
strategy used by students in schools all around the world. When people with Alzheimer s start to lose
their memory they often go to extreme measures to preserve it. If there is a way that something as
simple as color can make important information more retainable then we should use it to our
advantage. If the effect of taking notes in pencil, warm colored ink, and cool colored ink is tested then,
it is predicted that warm color will increase memory and number of correct answers from the
worksheet in the most students. To test the hypothesis 5 students will complete a worksheet that they
will complete using their assigned ink color. Following that they will complete a test based off of the
worksheet and when they finish the results will be evaluated and compare it to the previous data. To
determine raw data the total the number of questions answered correctly from each color group will be
divided using the formula x/y, y being the number of total number of questions and x being the
number answered correctly. The data collected during experimentation supported the hypothesis. The
average number of questions answered correctly when the effect of color on memory was tested for
the following groups was pencil with one, black with one, cool with one and warm with one.

Figurative Language In The Scarlet Ibis
It was in the clove of seasons, summer was dead but autumn had not yet been born, that the ibis lit in
the bleeding tree (James Hurst, The Scarlet Ibis ). This line of figurative language from Hurst s short
story shows the setting and how summer is gone, but autumn has not started yet. In literature, authors
use figurative language to emphasize setting or to add to characterization. In The Scarlet Ibis , Doodle
is a six year old disabled boy who is unable to walk. Brother , the narrator, works hard to get Doodle
to be able to things that normal kids do, but the pride he has for himself does not want to deal with the
embarrassment of having a disabled brother. In The Scarlet Ibis author James Hurst uses figurative
language to establish the theme of how pride can blind oneself from the things that really matter.
The metaphors used in the short story reveal to the reader the insecurity the brother has within
himself. The brother works hard with Doodle to try to get him to walk, and once they succeed he feels
great confidence in himself. Doodle struggles to move great distances, so getting him to walk further
develops the brother pride. After he succeeds in getting Doodle to walk, he learns something new
about his relationship with Doodle as well as learning that pride is a wonderful, terrible thing, a seed
that bears two vines, life and death (5). The pride Brother has for himself causes him to push Doodle
to work harder to achieve the goal of walking. He tells himself he is doing this for Doodle, that he
wants Doodle to feel good about himself. However, the brother wants to feel good about himself by
developing a non disabled brother. While Doodle does start to walk, the reader sees how the brother
disregards Doodles feelings in the process. Like seeds, which are the start of any vegetable, plant or
flower, pride is the start of a life, or a vine, that can lead to one of two outcomes, one that leads to a
more self confident life, and another that causes pain and suffering in others. Through the use of

Relationship Between A Mother Daughter Relationships And...
In Affection and Acrimony : Exploring Mother Daughter Relationships in Gilmore Girls
Almost every woman in North America has some form of a relationship with their daughter and/or
mother in their lifetime. However, these relation can vary in amiability and affection. Whether due to
similarities or differences in personality or circumstances in life, mothers and daughters can be close
confidants or fierce foes. These familial relationships have been studied in part by Marianne Hirsch
and Sharon M. Varallo in their essays on the familial gaze and the genre of family photographs,
respectively. In this essay, I will be using the work previously done by Hirsch and Varallo to analyze
two different mother daughter relationships presented in the television show Gilmore Girls. The two
relationships differ vastly in their outward appearance, however both relationships show underlying
characteristics of both friendship and animosity. Overall, these two mother daughter relationships
demonstrate that the love between a mother and a daughter can be expressed in various ways.
Gilmore Girls follows the lives of three women in the Gilmore family. Rory, the youngest, is a
teenager at the beginning of the show. She is an only child and was raised by her single mother,
Lorelai, in the small town of Stars Hollow, Connecticut. Lorelai is in her thirties throughout the show.
She became pregnant with Rory when she was sixteen, and left her wealthy parents home to raise
Rory alone. Emily, the

Emily In Emily Faulkner s A Rose For Emily
A Rose for Emily illustrate love, disappointment of life, grief, death, and rejection that Emily has
received throughout her life; as a young woman in her time. Emily is not able to be herself in an era
where women had an important role in society. She was expected to be the one person that the town
wanted. She was expected to be proper, outstanding, and punctual. She wanted to be herself and not
have someone always looking over her shoulder. So throughout the story the town people whisper
about her in the hopes it wouldn t get back to her. The narrators of this story are from the perspective
of how they see her. Emily is different in a time when difference is not ratified or accepted. When
Emily finally passed away all of the town went to her funeral, which was held in her home. The last
type of star home for the period of time. It was a big, squarish frame house that had once been white,
decorated with cupolas and spires and scrolled balconies in the heavily lightsome style of the
seventies. (Faulkner 861). No one had been in her house, besides the old man servant that would take
care of her, for 10 years. After Emily s Father died she received notifications of her past due balances
to pay her taxes. She never left the house and when the mayor and aldermen, or the younger
generation, came over to see her in her home she was surprised to see them because she lived in
isolation for 10 years after her father died. When mayor and alderman got there they had

Even though there are various benefits of organic farming there are certain issues still related to the
same such as:
The productivity of such farms is very low so it is not that feasible keeping in mind the frequent
requirement of the herbs and spices of a hotel.
The cost of setting up such farms by the hotel would be high and the hotel would be resistant to
employ such a strategy when it can fetch the things from the outer sources and if possible that too at a
low cost.
The idea to have organic farms inside the premises of the hotel might seem difficult keeping in mind
the limited area available to the hotels.

Increasing the tree cover would definitely add to greener environment
It would contribute to bringing down the temperature of the nearby areas where the hotels are located

Exploratory Paper
Before beginning the quantitative research report, we had to had complete an exploratory research
report. This was necessary as it allowed us to see trends in relation to healthy eating. The exploratory
research mainly consisted of qualitative questions as we wanted to see if there was any relationship
between a cupcake and a chicken and spinach sandwich. After analyzing the results of the survey, we
were able to get a better insight of the perceptions and preferences that consumers have when it comes
to eating and purchasing healthy food.
Some of the more interesting things that we gained from reviewing the survey results was that
consumers would rather eat a chicken and spinach sandwich over a cupcake. The main reasons for this
was that a chicken and spinach sandwich would not only count as a proper meal but it s also a
healthier option than the cupcake. Another interesting thing that we found was that consumers feel as
though it is more expensive to eat healthy than it is to eat unhealthy. In the end, the most interesting
thing that we found from the survey was that consumers were divided on the fact that organic food
was a healthier option as compared to non organic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Due to the fact that consumers had mixed opinions on the healthiness of organic food, we decided that
creating a quantitative research survey would serve as a good opportunity to find more information on
this topic. Our hypothesis was that organic food is perceived as a healthier option when comparing it
non organic food, indicating that consumers are willing to pay more organic products. Ultimately, our
research question and hypothesis relates to healthy eating as it illustrates how some consumers feel
eating organic food is heathier, while some consumers feel that eating organic food isn t any healthier

Rolling On The River Analysis
From the creativity inputted, to the fine craftsmanship of this bronze sculpture, is the reason I chose
this particular artwork. This artwork is titled Rolling on the River by all american Joel Perlman. The
piece was dedicated in 2010. It is located between between Forbes Hall and Haskell Hall in the Lewis
and Clark Community College campus. Art has always been a crucial part of my life, being as it is
expression. The first time I came to Lewis and Clark, all I noticed was the splendiferous flowers and
the enchanting artwork. This alleviated a lot for my attendance at this school, just for the sole factor of
the campus s magnificence. My thesis is that anyway you decide to look at the sculpture, it seems to
be different at every angle. One could tell a lot of time and creativity was inputted into this. This
sculpture is made of pure bronze, with a sleek tint of coating. It sits on a stone platform, to what seems
to be limestone. There are six possibly seven rings that make up this piece of art. The rings have
multiple and various shaped welded on. It gives a sense of uncertainty as you focus more in depth
about it. Also feelings of a rebellious nature are provoked as it follows no given design, being
completely and utterly original. As syncopation, being an strongly accented beat in an unordinary ...

For example, I feel as if Joel Perlman wanted something to be completely innovational. Also, I feel his
set goal he strived to achieve was to make this artwork have definite flow, such as Freedom. Freedom
is to have no restraint, and this specific art has no boundaries in uniquity. As the construction of the art
was made, he made a point to give it a certain flow thus being titled, Rolling on the River. The bronze
establishes the depth of his concept. As shapes were welded onto each ring, there being no effort to
regularize this composition, truly makes every angle a new perspective to be

Comparing Frankenstein s Cinderella And Princess Culture
Little girls love everything about princesses: the beautiful doll replicas, the romantic love storybooks
and movies, and the glittering play clothes that come with authentic looking accessories and
adornments. But some believe that letting little girls fantasize and indulge in their princess obsessions
may bring more than pink sparkles into their lives. When Peggy Orenstein s three year old daughter
entered the princess phase , Orenstein became increasingly frustrated and concerned. As a feminist,
she worried about the negative and damaging effects the princess obsession would have on her
daughter s self esteem. In her article, Cinderella and Princess Culture , Orenstein openly makes the
case that loving princesses may not be so harmless. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But Orenstein, among other parents, believes these Disney products are affecting young girls
negatively, and suggests that this potentially damaging social issue is not being responsibly managed
as the Princess franchise grows. In a survey reported by Girls Inc., an overwhelming amount of school
age girls who grew up in the presence of the very feminine Disney princesses felt pressured be perfect
(Orenstein 329). And why would they not feel that way? Disney is a master at developing alluring
visuals and entrancing soundtracks, and then strategically targeting them to audiences through the use
of powerful marketing campaigns. Disney Princesses have almost perfect fairytale bodies, beautifully
colored clothing, and storyline lifestyles that young girls have come to envy. But that is not the case
for princesses such as Pocahontas and Mulan. These princesses, who are arguably the most realistic
looking and normal of the bunch, are rarely seen in Princess merchandise. Orenstein s theory is that
Disney exploits only certain princesses through strong merchandising and marketing because certain
princesses have outfits and accessories that are more glamorous and lucrative than

Evaluate the Claim That Migration Creates Global Connections.
Eleanor White C5206232 TMA 06 Option 1
Evaluate the claim that migration creates global connections.
In this assignment, the strengths and weaknesses of the claim that migration creates global
connections, will be discussed. This will be done by discovering what counts as migration and how it
is valued, how global connections can be both positive and negative, about the concepts of diaspora
and translocalism and how important they are when considering both migration and global
connections. To enable the discussion of the subject matter, it must first be understood what is meant
by the terms migration and global connections , migration is used to describe the circulation of people

If they choose to leave the country, or send money back to family in their country of origin, this means
that the money will leave its original economy and be positioned within another, affecting the original
economy negatively and the new one positively. There are many other types of global connection, as
stated before, someone can leave their country of origin to travel elsewhere, making new connections
with people on the way, this does not mean that all connections from their home are lost, they are
maintained alongside the new connections as they are made. Business connections are global
connections that can be viewed as both positive and negative, an example of this can be seen in
Raghuram and Hardill s study(1998, cited by Raghuram, 2009,p181) on female entrepreneurs, they
interviewed a business woman, who owned a small chain of stores specialising in modern clothing
based on more traditional Asian styles. The stores are predominantly based in the Western society,
with styles influenced by Asian culture, cloth sourced from China and the finished product being made
in India and then shipped to the Western stores, this is a great deal of global connections for one
garment, although by some standards, it is small. Most of the clothing sold by this particular
entrepreneur are aimed at young British Asian women, showing a global disconnection, as young

The Night At The Corner Of A Street
In Chicago, Illinois, an expansive hotel stands gloriously at the corner of a street. Civilians crowd
around it, looking for a place to stay as they visit the incredibly popular World s Fair. They are greeted
by an attractive young man, who beckons a select few inside and offers them rooms to stay for the
night. These unknowing guests make their way up to their supposed rooms, and are befuddled at first
by the strange structure of the hallways. Paying no mind to this abnormality, they enter their rooms
and rest for the night, yet they do not wake up the next morning. Other guests find themselves locked
in a brick room with nothing in it, and slowly starve to death while visions of their families and lives
fade before their eyes. Some are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His victims were killed and tortured in various gruesome ways, and their corpses were used in
grotesque experiments and subsequently sold to black markets and universities. Holmes, like so many
other serial killers, had a troubled childhood. Dr. Holmes was born to Levi Horton Mudgett and
Theodate Page Price, under the original name of Herman Webster Mudgett, in Gilmanton, New
Hampshire in 1861. His family was affluent, and he was considered very privileged for his time. He
was also a very bright child who quickly surpassed his classmates academically. Despite his
studiousness, Holmes lived a troubled life. His father was an abusive alcoholic, despite being a strict
Methodist. If home life was not bad enough, Holmes suffered severe bullying in school, due to the
other students jealousy of his intelligence. Mudgett possessed an abnormal amount of morbid
curiosities involving the human body, which led him to attend medical school at a young age. Soon
after, he traveled around the United States, and settled in Chicago, Illinois. The transition to Chicago
marked the start of a new life for Mudgett, who introduced himself as the now infamous H.H. Holmes
. Holmes did not begin his life anew to better himself, but rather to perform acts of murder and
treachery. Due to his intelligence and cunning mannerisms, Holmes was aware that he must be careful,
and carry about his plans with caution. He received a job at Elizabeth S. Holton s Drugstore, and

The Queen Who Understood Her People
Alexandrina Victoria was destined to be Queen of England from the moment of her conception.
Commonly referred to as the queen who understood the people, Victoria spent her entire childhood
preparing to take the throne of England. In fact, the future Empress of India didn t have much of a
childhood. She was allowed very little freedom in her early life, which caused her to ban her mother
from court upon her coronation (Turner). Victoria evidently liked to be in control of things and
certainly used this to make her mark on history. As the longest reigning monarch at the time, Victoria
had 60 years to influence England (All Empires). Queen Victoria impacted history and the 19th
Century in many ways, through culture, politics and morality. Queen Victoria is perhaps most famous
for popularizing the white wedding dress (Woodham Smith). At the time, women were married in
dresses of almost any color. However, when pictures of the queen in a beautiful white dress circulated,
women began to imitate her example, just as they imitated her hairstyle on the postage (Queen
Victoria Penny Black Single). After it became evident that Victoria and her new husband Albert were
truly in love the white wedding dress became a romantic symbol of true love. Indeed, Victoria was so
in love with her husband that she became quite useless for many years after his death. Her approach to
marriage was so different from most royals that it caused people to take notice. Instead of having

Greek Mental Illness History
The history of psychopathology goes back hundreds of centuries in the past. The history of
psychopathology goes along with social and medical history. Throughout history we can see that
mental health has evolved in the way we conceive it. Also, through history, we understand why the
mentally ill have been tortured, or protected, and this will depend on the perspective of the human
being at that particular time. Mentally ill people in prehistoric times were seen as if evil spirits possess
them, so the exorcism and spells applications were the ways to treat their condition. Today mental
illness is treated scientifically and as human disease and not as in ancient times that was awarded to
supernatural powers. Primitive Cultures 10,000 BC In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

  • 2. Human Trafficking in the United States Products from all over the world are being distributed and sold from other countries to people in the United States. Imports and exports to and from the U.S include products as wide ranged as food, clothes, and even people. Human trafficking is a worldwide problem, including the United States. Currently, there are approximately 20.9 million people enslaved throughout the world with 2.5 million located in the United States. About 14,500 17,500 of foreign nationals are trafficked into the United States every year (Human trafficking statistics). These statistics show that slavery is still alive and flourishing throughout the entire world. When humans are exchanged, exploited, and forced into prostitution, and involuntary labor, it is called human trafficking. Human trafficking is a very serious problem which has been going on for centuries; I believe spreading awareness is imperative to solving this ongoing problem. There has been many government attempts to try to alleviate this problem in the past with the Emancipation Proclamation, the Thirteenth Amendment, Out of the 20.9 million people that are enslaved in the world, more than 70 percent are female and half are children (Human trafficking statistics). Approximately 80% of trafficking involves sexual exploitation and many victims are runaway girls who were sexually abused as children (Human trafficking statistics). Although the government has tried numerous things to stop human trafficking, it is still happening. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Television as an Agent of Socialization Television as an Agent of Socialization I chose the first episode of the very popular television program The Event. I viewed the first episode on Netflix, October 20, 2011. This program originally aired on NBC, September 10, 2010, and is titled I Haven t Told You Everything . This program has a total of twenty two series to date and is classified as an action adventure drama. After viewing a picture of the main characters with the synopsis of this program, I noticed immediately that this was a male dominated show. The picture shows seven people standing together and merely two of the seven are female. The premise of the story is about a man searching for his missing fiancé. The story line was a prime example of the gender male ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They have their status titles which come along with expectations, but they are all conflicted with another issue that is still a mystery during this episode. This show represents men as the influential leaders in our society. The creators of this series opted to categorize all the professions with male dominated characters emphasizing the glass ceiling effect. Consequently, the undertone of this series reflected woman as the weaker less important of the two sexes. The women in this series for example were waitresses, flight attendants, and news broadcasters. Even when the producers had a woman portrayed in the same profession they gave the speaking role to the man. For example there is a man and a woman working at an information desk on a ship, the main character automatically goes to the man while the woman is shown in the background. Even the role of the staff of seven setting the tables for the president only consisted of one woman; in this scene it would have been plausible to have more than one woman, since this is categorized as a woman gender career. The Event did not disappoint with my hypothesis that this was a heavily male dominated program. The content of this show illustrates the social hierarchy and roles that men play in society. Subsequently, the major life events change the direction and course of the actors and force them into new roles, norms and values with their characters. I think that TV s powers of ... Commercial third party payers do not consistently provide reimbursement for the APRN; however, their rates and policies differ (Buppert, 2005). The APRN submits either current procedural terminology (CPT) codes or evaluation and management (E M) codes for Medicare reimbursement. CPT codes are a systematic listing and coding of procedures or services performed by the APRN. The American Medical Association (AMA) establishes, maintains, and copyrights the CPT codes. The five digit number allocated to each code indicates a particular service or procedure. CPT codes provide a consistent description of the services rendered that is shared between medical ... Comprehensive is a general multi system examination or complete examination of a single organ system and other symptomatic or related body area or organ system. The type and extent of the examination is determined by clinical judgment, patient s history, and nature of the problem. The classification of E M services endorse four types of clinical medical decision making: straightforward, low complexity, moderate complexity, and high complexity. Clinical decisions refer to the complexity of establishing a diagnosis or choosing a management option. The complexity is determined by the volume of possible diagnoses or management options, and the volume or complexity of medical records, diagnostic tests, or other information that must be obtained, reviewed, and analyzed. The risk of complications, morbidity or mortality, and comorbidities associated with the patient s problem, the diagnostic procedure or management options also determines the classification of medical decision making (Department of Health and Human Services, Centers for Medicare Medicaid Services, 2014b). The International Classification of Diseases (ICD) is the standard diagnostic tool for epidemiology, health management and clinical purposes. ICD includes the evaluation of the overall health conditions of populations and is used to surveil the incidence and prevalence of diseases and other health issues. • 6. The Dark Knight Unraveled When someone says superhero, it is automatically assumed that one is talking about someone who saves others using extraordinary powers or someone who is there to protect and make others feel safe. For decades, superheroes have been around fighting crime and saving civilians from the villains that reign. These superheroes create a light and give the viewer some kind of hope. Although a superhero is seen as someone who is god like, there is one hero who defies this stereotype. His name: Batman. Batman has been around for nearly seventy five years and has evolved into a a very controversial character. Some people may see Batman as a dark figure who is not a hero, but a nuisance, while others may see him as something greater than a superhero. In Christopher Nolan s, The Dark Knight, released in 2008, Batman is a character who is seen in a different way than previous iterations. Instead of just a crime fighting hero, Batman is presented as something greater as well as something some may overlook. In Nolan s 2008 film, Batman portrays a character that not only relates to society on a person level, but also parallels the Bush administration post 9/11. Imagine watching the ones you love, murdered right before your eyes. At a young age, Batman had to watch his parents get shot and killed by a ruthless mugger. Batman had this tragic childhood which is something many young people today can relate to. Professor of Psychology at Henderson State University, Dr. Travis Langly, ... MIRRORING IN OD Action research is a reflective process of progressive problem solving led by individuals working with others in teams or as part of a community of practice to improve the way they address issues and solve problems. Action research can also be undertaken by larger organizations or institutions, assisted or guided by professional researchers, with the aim of improving their strategies, practices, and knowledge of the environments within which they practice. Minor adjustments of this nature can be made in learning activities via Feedback Loop B (see Figure) [pic] .Major adjustments and reevaluations would return the OD project to the first, or planning, stage for basic changes in the program. The action research model shown in Figure 1 closely follows Lewin s repetitive cycle of planning, action, and measuring results. It also illustrates other aspects of Lewin s general model of change. As indicated in the diagram, the planning stage is a period of unfreezing, or problem awareness. The action stage is a period of changing, that is, trying out new forms of behavior in an effort to understand and cope with the system s problems. (There is inevitable overlap between the stages, since the boundaries are not clear cut and cannot be in a continuous process). The results stage is a period of refreezing, in which new behaviors are tried out on the job and, if successful and reinforcing, become a part of the system s repertoire of problem solving behavior.Action research is problem centered, client centered, and action oriented. It involves the client system in a diagnostic, active learning, problem finding, and problem solving process. Data are not simply returned in the form of a written report but ... Day by day concentration of these metals is increasing in water supplies due to various industrial processing. Different industries such as steel manufacturing, fertilizer and pesticide industry, leather tanning, electroplating, metallurgy, mining and smelting of metalliferous, surface finishing industry, energy and fuel production industries, electrolysis, electro osmosis, photography, electric appliance manufacturing, metal surface treating industries are mainly responsible for releasing heavy metals into the environment , effluents of these industries are mainly loaded with heavy metals ions. These heavy metals are very toxic for all living organisms even at very low concentration. Most common examples of heavy metals are Zinc, Cadmium, Chromium, Arsenic, Lead and Copper. Heavy metals are classified in three categories on the basis of nature of metal and its value and these metals have higher specific weight usually more than 5.0 g/cm3 (Bishop, 2002; Volesky, 1990; Wang Chen, 2006). 1. Toxic heavy metals including Cr, Pb, Zn, Hg, Cu, Ni, Cd, As, Co, Sn, etc., 2. Precious metals such as Pd, Pt, Ag, Au, Ru etc. 3. The movie made some sense more dramatic than they needed to be and other sense that I thought were pretty important in the myth was not in the movie at all. None the less I did not think the movie was all that bad when are you are comparing it to the written myth. Reading the myth before watching the movie might be the best thing, it helps explain some information that helps explain some things in the movie. After reading the myth I feel like the director added the Death to show that Eurydice and Orpheus relationship was failed from the beginning. They never had a chance to be together they were doomed from the start. Apart from Death they also had to deal with Orpheus crazy fiancé (Or ex fiancé but Orpheus never ended things with her) who did not want them together. Mira was the total opposite of Eurydice. Eurydice had a feeling of innocence with her where Mira just seemed to flaunt everything she had. I feel like Mira also could represent the Viper that killed Eurydice in the myth. After she found out that Eurydice pretended to be her cousin to be by Orpheus during the carnival she went crazy and chased after Eurydice. I feel like the main image that showed Mira as the Viper is when she grabbed the giant staple like thing they could represent fangs of a viper. I do not think the director put this scene in the movie for no reason. One aspect of the movie that I liked would be the two little boys. They helped the movie flow and the story seemed to be mostly told from their points of view. I did really like how the end of the movie they seemed to end on more of a happy note compared to the myth. • 11. How Lewis Structures Are Constructed Lewis Structure shows how atoms in a covalent bond share electrons. Dots are used to show lone pairs of electrons, and lines symbolize bonds. This essay will explain how Lewis Structures are constructed. The first step is counting how many valence electrons there are. Determine the number of electrons that are in the outer shells of each atom. For example, H2O has 6 valence electrons in oxygen and 1 in hydrogen. Therefore, there are 8 total since there are two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom. Non valence electrons are not expressed. Next, write the symbols for each atom and connect them with single bonds. The order of the atoms in the formula usually shows connectivity. HCN is written H C N in its Lewis Structure. If there are only two types of atoms, the central atom is usually written first and has lower electronegativity. After writing symbols and connecting elements with single bonds, complete the octets of surrounding atoms with lone pairs. The octet rule states most atoms bond so that every atom has eight electrons in its outer shell to gain stability of the Noble gases. CF4, for example, has all single bonds and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Nitric oxide is an example of this with eleven electrons in its outer shells, and nitrogen ends up with only 6 valence electrons. Another molecule that violates the rule is one that does not need eight valence electrons. For example, in H2O, the hydrogen atoms only need two electrons around them instead of eight. One other example of a violation is when molecules have extra electrons. SF4 is an example as sulfur has a lone pair and four covalent bonds, which gives it 10 valence electrons. This is only possible with atoms that are in the third row of the periodic table or lower with unfilled d orbitals. Therefore, exceptions can only occur in molecules that have odd numbers of electrons or with atoms that have only the first energy level or empty ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Pond Is Healthy Or Unclean Essay Introduction ~ Throughout the course of about a week, the 9th grade class at CEEC took samples of the pond at UNCC for an experiment to determine whether or not if the pond is in a safe or in a harmful environment and if the pond is healthy or unclean. University of North Carolina Charlotte and its health is an important factor to the survival of the animals around it. North Carolina is a southern US state with landscape ranging from the atlantic ocean to the appalachian mountains. Charlotte is the state largest city it is home to the NFL s Carolina Panthers and the Nascar Hall of Fame UNCC s campus has a early college program named the Charlotte Engineering Early College, with a pond located to the left of CEEC.This pond is the home to many animals such as fish, ducks, tadpoles, canadian geese, turtles, and cattail, and is a source of water for the university. In order to be able to use this water, the pond health must be healthy. However, what makes a pond really healthy? Pond health is determined by its pH levels, its levels of biodiversity, its dissolved oxygen levels, its temperature, its range of tolerance, its air temperature, and its amount of nitrogen. In order for a pond to be healthy it must have the correct amount of each on of these things. One significant factor to pond health is pH. pH stands for hydrogen of power, which is the measurement of the hydrogen ion in the experiment you have to complete. pH is normally scaled of based off of whether it is basic ... Essay on Objectification of Women in The House of Mirth Objectification of Women in The House of Mirth Edith Wharton s The House of Mirth is an affront to the false social values of fashionable New York society. The heroine is Lily Bart, a woman who is destroyed by the very society that produces her. Lily is well born but poor. The story traces the decline of Lily as she moves through a series of living residences, from houses to hotel lodgings. Lily lives in a New York society where appearances are all. Women have a decorative function in such an environment, and even her name, Lily, suggests she is a flower of femininity, i.e. an object of decoration as well as of desirability to the male element. We see this is very true once Lily s bloom fades, as it were, a time when she ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The irony of the situation is that most women who are accepted by society and are able to maintain the role of being something worthy to look at are able to do so only because of a husband who supplies them with the necessary funds to achieve it. In other words, in a male dominated society wherein women largely need the financial support of men to be accepted, they have become commodities. Lily recognizes this predicament when she ponders her marriage to Percy Gryce, a position where she would be to him what his Americana hitherto had been: the one possession in which he took sufficient pride to spend money on (Wharton 65). Yet, this very society that demand its women be superficial creatures that merit worth only by appearance is also one which immediately rejects a woman who seems intent on marrying a man with wealth the one course open to women who wish to be accepted in society. This may be where one of Lily s character qualities prevents her from being able to join such a society. She is no good at hiding her desire to marry a man of wealth. In fact, she even tells Selden, her true love, that she is very expensive and must have a great deal of money (Wharton 31). These kinds of admissions make Lily appear to be the one thing this superficial society cannot bear a scheming adventuress out to snag a rich ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Humans, especially students, are always look for new ways to improve their memory. Memorization is an important strategy used by students in schools all around the world. When people with Alzheimer s start to lose their memory they often go to extreme measures to preserve it. If there is a way that something as simple as color can make important information more retainable then we should use it to our advantage. If the effect of taking notes in pencil, warm colored ink, and cool colored ink is tested then, it is predicted that warm color will increase memory and number of correct answers from the worksheet in the most students. To test the hypothesis 5 students will complete a worksheet that they will complete using their assigned ink color. Following that they will complete a test based off of the worksheet and when they finish the results will be evaluated and compare it to the previous data. To determine raw data the total the number of questions answered correctly from each color group will be divided using the formula x/y, y being the number of total number of questions and x being the number answered correctly. The data collected during experimentation supported the hypothesis. The average number of questions answered correctly when the effect of color on memory was tested for the following groups was pencil with one, black with one, cool with one and warm with one. ... • 19. Figurative Language In The Scarlet Ibis It was in the clove of seasons, summer was dead but autumn had not yet been born, that the ibis lit in the bleeding tree (James Hurst, The Scarlet Ibis ). This line of figurative language from Hurst s short story shows the setting and how summer is gone, but autumn has not started yet. In literature, authors use figurative language to emphasize setting or to add to characterization. In The Scarlet Ibis , Doodle is a six year old disabled boy who is unable to walk. Brother , the narrator, works hard to get Doodle to be able to things that normal kids do, but the pride he has for himself does not want to deal with the embarrassment of having a disabled brother. In The Scarlet Ibis author James Hurst uses figurative language to establish the theme of how pride can blind oneself from the things that really matter. The metaphors used in the short story reveal to the reader the insecurity the brother has within himself. The brother works hard with Doodle to try to get him to walk, and once they succeed he feels great confidence in himself. Doodle struggles to move great distances, so getting him to walk further develops the brother pride. After he succeeds in getting Doodle to walk, he learns something new about his relationship with Doodle as well as learning that pride is a wonderful, terrible thing, a seed that bears two vines, life and death (5). The pride Brother has for himself causes him to push Doodle to work harder to achieve the goal of walking. He tells himself he is doing this for Doodle, that he wants Doodle to feel good about himself. However, the brother wants to feel good about himself by developing a non disabled brother. While Doodle does start to walk, the reader sees how the brother disregards Doodles feelings in the process. Like seeds, which are the start of any vegetable, plant or flower, pride is the start of a life, or a vine, that can lead to one of two outcomes, one that leads to a more self confident life, and another that causes pain and suffering in others. Through the use of metaphors the author reveals the narrator s own insecurity and how it causes him to make decisions for the wrong reasons. Furthermore, Hurst s use of personification also adds to the theme, by revealing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This was necessary as it allowed us to see trends in relation to healthy eating. The exploratory research mainly consisted of qualitative questions as we wanted to see if there was any relationship between a cupcake and a chicken and spinach sandwich. After analyzing the results of the survey, we were able to get a better insight of the perceptions and preferences that consumers have when it comes to eating and purchasing healthy food. Some of the more interesting things that we gained from reviewing the survey results was that consumers would rather eat a chicken and spinach sandwich over a cupcake. The main reasons for this was that a chicken and spinach sandwich would not only count as a proper meal but it s also a healthier option than the cupcake. Another interesting thing that we found was that consumers feel as though it is more expensive to eat healthy than it is to eat unhealthy. In the end, the most interesting thing that we found from the survey was that consumers were divided on the fact that organic food was a healthier option as compared to non organic ... Commonly referred to as the queen who understood the people, Victoria spent her entire childhood preparing to take the throne of England.
