Illegal Immigrant Essay
Writing an essay on the topic of "Illegal Immigrants" can be a challenging task that requires
careful consideration and a nuanced approach. The complexity arises from the multifaceted
nature of the issue, involving legal, social, economic, and political dimensions. Addressing the
topic requires a thorough understanding of immigration laws, historical context, and the various
perspectives surrounding the issue.
One of the challenges is navigating the sensitive nature of the topic, as it involves individuals
seeking a better life while often facing legal and societal barriers. Striking a balance between
empathy and objectivity is crucial in presenting a fair and comprehensive analysis. Additionally,
there is a need to address the economic impact, potential contributions, and concerns related to
illegal immigration, which requires thorough research and data interpretation.
The essay should also explore the implications of policies, both past and present, on the lives of
illegal immigrants and the societies they become a part of. Analyzing the cultural and social
integration challenges faced by illegal immigrants and the communities hosting them adds
another layer of complexity to the discussion.
Furthermore, the topic may involve controversial debates, political ideologies, and varying
perspectives, making it essential to present a well-reasoned argument supported by evidence.
Navigating through the diverse range of opinions while maintaining academic rigor can be
demanding.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of "Illegal Immigrants" demands careful research,
critical thinking, and an ability to address the issue from multiple angles. It requires a delicate
balance between empathy and objectivity, and a thorough examination of the legal, social,
economic, and political aspects involved. While challenging, a well-crafted essay on this topic
can contribute to a better understanding of the complexities surrounding illegal immigration.

The World s Greatest Satirist
The World s Greatest Satirist
James Thurber is a satirist. Satire is the use of humor, irony, exaggeration, or
ridicule to expose and criticize people s stupidity or vices. It is also deliberate. His
writing is full of common sense, humor, and irony. The characters in his stories
work extra hard to end up using simple solutions. The diction in all his stories is
very clear and simple. His writing is meant for everyone in every class and every
age group. The style and content of his stories make them timeless and relatable to
anyone, even the people about whom he is making fun. Richard Tobias has the best
description of Thurber s humoristic displays. Tobias says:

Also, his first wife, much like his mother, was a nut case. His father was a meek
man who let his wife run amok despite knowing she was a loose cannon. These
characters in his life influence and epitomize the characters in his stories. Thurber
writes about decisions in life, and while he may be using bunnies and wolves to
make the examples, the realities he portrays most are revenge, materialism, and
cowardice. To externalize Thurber s inner discomposure toward women, he tends
to use his pieces to ridicule the fairer sex. His fiction imitates his life, and his life
was filled with scorn and contempt for the path to which he was pinned. Thurber
also writes quite a bit about morals. In all the following stories the moral is a
variation of: Go with you first instinct.
Unicorn in the Garden is a story about a woman with contempt for her excitable
husband. She sees an opportunity to have him sent to the loony bin and takes it.
However, she is the one who ends up in the booby hatch. As soon as the husband
had gone out of the house, the wife got up and dressed as fast as she could. She
was very excited and there was a gloat in her eye. She telephoned the police and she
telephoned a psychiatrist; she told them to hurry to her house and bring a strait
jacket. She is a coward here. She waits until he leaves the room to call the
psychiatrist. Clearly, she is jealous of him in some way. It is not clear why she has
such distain for her
Nursing Reflection
The objective of this reflection is to explore and reflect upon a situation from a
clinical placement on an orthopedic unit. The incident showed that I did not
provide safe, timely and competent care for my patient when the oxygen
saturation was low. Furthermore, this reflection will include a description of the
incident, and I will conclude with explaining what I have learned from the
experience and how it will change my future actions. The incident happened on
Nov 21st, 2017. The patient has sleep apnea and a health history of chronic
bronchitis (no episode in recent 2 years). Her respiration rate was 16 and all lung
fields were clear upon auscultation. After I took the patient s vital signs, I noticed
that her oxygen saturation was low (83%). Then, I notified the nurse and asked the
patient to do take some deep breath. After that, we put her on 2L of oxygen and her
oxygen saturation went up to above 90s. However, the patient had a bladder
control problem (was incontinent), so I took the oxygen off because she went to
the toilet for around 4 5 times in an hour. However, I forgot to monitor her O2
saturation right away. Instead, I checked her oxygen saturation after she finished
her dinner, and it dropped to 86%. The instructor showed me how deep breathing
exercise can help the patient increase her oxygen level quickly. I notified the nurse
and we put the patient on 2L of oxygen, but again I forgot to check her oxygen
saturation right away. Instead, I checked her oxygen around 7pm later. I stayed
close to the patient during this whole period, but I was not paying enough attention
to her low oxygen level. The patient was a healthcare aid and she kept telling me
that, It s ok, I am always a shallow breather . However, I should have my own
judgement ability and provide more competent care with timely evaluation of the
effectiveness of the interventions. After being reminded by the instructor, I was
aware of my mistakes and noticed that I failed to maintain patient s safety. An
oxygen below 90% can be very dangerous for the patient, especially for a post op
day #1 patient, because prolonged hypoxemia can cause fatigue, headache, acute
respiratory failure, cardiac problems (increased heart rate,
Figure of Speech
A figure of speech is a use of a word that diverges from its normal meaning,[citation

the words in it such as a metaphor, simile, or personification.[citation needed]
Figures of speech often provide emphasis, freshness of expression, or clarity.
However, clarity may also suffer from their use, as any figure of speechintroduces an
ambiguity between literal and figurative interpretation. A figure of speech is
sometimes called a rhetoricor a locution.
Not all theories of meaning have a concept of literal language (see literal and

Summary
In July 1999, David Neeleman announced his plan to launch a new airline that
would bring humanity back to air travel. Despite the fact the airline industry had 87
new airline failures in U.S. over the past 20 years. Neeleman s plan convinced a
group of investors and quickly raised $130 million from venture capital community.
This is the way JetBlue Airways established. With its strong capital base, JetBlue

plants in Phoenix AZ and Roanoke VA. Over 60% of sales are to chains like Wal Mart.
Appliance Station must now raise $75 million to modernize the two plants and
expand the Phoenix facility in order to accommodate expected sales increases in
Appliance Station s business in the housing market in the Nevada and Arizona
markets. There are three possible financing alternatives to raise the needed $75

Appliance Station would net $75 million after $5 million cost. 2) a bond issue, ten

Questions
What is the risk of issuing bond?
First, debentures means without any security, it s paid back up on company s
earning. Appliance Station needs to get rating for its bond. If the rating is not good
such as BB, then it s not easy to sell the bond and the interest rate will be higher, so
the company might not raise enough money. Second, Appliance station needs to pay
interest for the bond. (AAA rating s interest is the lowest around 1%). If the company

Informative Essay On Cockroaches
It s the middle of the night. You re hungry. You go to the kitchen and turn on the
light. Suddenly, you step on something crunchy. You bend down to take a look. It
is a cockroach! In New York City, in all homes and buildings, cockroaches abound.
Just like its human residents, New York City s roaches are among the most diverse
in the world. Cockroaches have been around for millions of years, evolving into
some of the most adaptable pests on Earth. And no matter how hard exterminators
try, the stubborn cockroaches don t seem to die off. In fact, as time progresses,
different species of cockroaches will be discovered and they will become more
adaptable to the New York climate and also resistant to chemical poisons. It is safe to

Since roaches can crawl through small spaces, its very important we seal these
entries. I understand this can be time consuming, but at the end of the day it will be
worth the effort. If we don t stop them from entering, the next thing we know
unwanted guests are partying with us and drinking our alcoholic beverages ( Orkin ).
As long as we (unwillingly) provide food, shelter, and water for cockroaches they
will forever infest our homes. Pest World states that cockroaches are attracted to
sweet and floury foods (Cockroach Extermination). But even if you try to starve
these critters, they won t just die off. They ll actually survive a whole month with
no food, but only days without water. It is vital we stop supplying water to these
pests. In addition, a cockroach can hold its breath for 40 minutes and survive
underwater for at least half an hour (Cockroach Extermination). That means they
can swim up our drainpipes into our sinks and bathtubs. We should begin by
repairing the tiniest leakages and making sure no water is left standing in our
sinks. Cockroaches are extremely attracted to moist areas even to the smallest bit
of water. For example, New Yorker Ruby Ahuja said: I used to work in a dry
building, and when I d leave a cup on my table after washing it out at night, leaving
a few drops of water inside, I would find the cup full of roaches the next morning.
What a beautiful sight to see early in the morning.

Plastic Baby Bottles
By far the most widely used material in baby bottles, plastic is affordable,
lightweight and can be moulded into different designs and shapes. Plastic baby
bottles are so common that you can spot at least one in nine out of ten households
with infants. However, the use of these bottles declined with the spread of
awareness of BPA content present in them. You ll be glad to know that in 2012, FDA
banned the use of BPA in baby bottles and sippy cups. To make sure, you can also

Resistant to breakage
Easy to store
Doesn t sweat
Cons of using glass baby bottle:
Cannot be used for boiling heating purposes
Hard to clean
Soft material; easily scratch able
Can absorb odour

Hair extensions are methods of lengthening one s hair by incorporating artificial hair

This technique is the least permanent and can be very effective without the

is placed onto this section with the clips open and facing the scalp. Each clip is
snapped into place. It can be helpful to lightly backcomb each section for a more
secure grip. This is repeated until each clip in weft is in place. Clip ins can be worn
all day and all night; however, they must be removed before sleeping. Some people

Multi Team Healthcare
Introduction Cancer clinical trials require multi team systems to provide cohesive
care that promotes enrollment and provides effective treatment for patients. Research
and clinic teams often have different goals; the research team prioritizes protocol
implementation and the clinic team prioritizes clinic care. An inability to coordinate
cancer care through distribution of responsibilities, communication and
understanding of goals can ultimately lead to rivalries, differing perceptions and
affect the efficiency of the multi team system. Although there are studies exploring
these dynamics within multi teams, there is limited information on this in the
setting of cancer care. Methods The study analyzed multi team care in five
categories: group identity, perceived objectives/goals, perceived information sharing
/interaction frequency, perceived group homogeneity and perceived contributions to
outcomes. The survey was modeled from the validated research studies on social
identity theory and adapted for cancer care. Two versions were developed for the
groups studied (research and clinic team) and each was assigned as its respective in

Age Specific Reproduction
The effects of age specific breeding and matriarch presence on elephant reproduction
Introduction
Although Robinson et al. was not able to determine the overall the long term effects
of early life reproduction, they provided results that show the immediate effects of
age specific reproduction. The impact of reproduction on younger females is an
important part of elephant survival, however, it is the impact of reproduction over
time that provides understanding of the future of elephant populations. In order to
show the later life effects of reproduction, Hayward et al. studied the survival of
calves and annual breeding success of elephants throughout their lives and into their
older age.

produced a study that examined the later life consequences of breeding on a
population, particularly breeding early in life. Hayward et al. also used the
Myanmar timber camp Elephas maximus to perform the research, looking at the
records of 416 reproductive captive born mothers and their offspring. The elephants
used were from 8 regions of the Myanmar timber camps with the youngest breeding
being 5 years of age and the oldest being 53. The mean age at the first birth of
offspring was 19.48 years with the maximum number of lifetime calves being 10
calves. Hayward et al. discovered that individuals who didn t produce calves
before the age of 19 had lower calf survival than those who produced one or more
calves before the age of 19. Although beginning reproduction earlier in life is
correlated with a shorter lifespan, the cost is outweighed with higher annual
breeding success as well as increased calf survival (Hayward et al). The investment
of energy and resources into breeding at an early age increases the chance of calf
survival but also results in shorter lifespans compared to those who begin
reproduction later in life (Hayward et al.). Based on the findings, the costs of early
life reproduction are offset by higher lifetime breeding success in younger elephants.
The breeding success of younger elephants can be attributed not only to early
reproduction, but also to older females in a herd. While Hayward et al. observes the

The Badlands And Lakota Land
When the Sioux migrated to the Great Plains area, they most certainly came across
the the Badlands in their discovery. The name Badlands is derived from the Lakota
phrase makИџГіЕЎiДЌa, meaning Land of Bad Spirits. Today, some Lakota believe
that the Badlands are a place to be avoided because it is where bad spirits exist.
This paper will discuss the geographic location, geological formation, Lakota
legends, reasons the site is visited, time or seasons to visit and Lakota stargazing
associated with the site. When applicable, Lakota words will be provided.
Geographic Location and Geology
The Badlands are geographically located in Southwest South Dakota, the Southern
Unit being within the Pine Ridge Reservation. The Oglala Lakota Nation co manages
the Southern Unit of Badlands National Park.
The Badlands were deposited in layers over millions of years. The layers are
constructed of sediments such as sand, silt, and clay that have been cemented
together into sedimentary rocks. Different environments caused different sediments
to accumulate there at different times. The oldest formations are at the bottom and
the youngest are at the top.
The black Pierre Shale is the bottom layer of the Badlands and was deposited
between 69 and 75 million years ago when a shallow sea stretched across what is
now the Great Plains. Sediment filtered through the seawater, forming a black mud
on the sea floor that has since hardened into shale. Fossil clams, ammonites, and sea
reptiles are
Personal Narrative-My First Cold War
Everything was quiet, masked by the thick morning mist. We closed in upon our
prey like wolves in a herd of sheep. Our Foggy cover did not last much longer, as
we closed in on the beach, but we needed that victory, like a wolf needs its supper.
Everything was resting on the shoulders of that one moment, the moment we set foot
upon the Turkish shores. That was the moment when we would know if victory could
be seized.
The boats landed, The sound of steel grazing against the wet sand broke the
silence. The locks on the boats broke, and within seconds a once calm, and quiet

trousers, and stained the sand. Still I couldn t get to safe enough cover to be

heaven, our reinforcements had arrived, and a glimmer of hope emerged. From the

Quickly we had pushed the Turks back, but many men still lost their lives.
The tables had turned, but only for a short while. More Turks would arrive, and
our chances of success were slim. My wound was worsening, and I was to be

devastation that is war. I was being carried back to the waters to be taken away,
even, though the imminent threat of danger still lurked, my mind was focused

Loyalty In Faulkner s Barn Burning
The strongest theme in the story Barn Burning, represented to me is of loyalty to
family versus doing what is right. Sartoris must decide whether loyalty to family
or doing the right thing is ethically an essential thing. For Abner, Sartoris s father,
family loyalty is prized above all else. You got to learn to stick to your own blood or
you ain t going to have any blood to stick to you (Faulkner, William 1939). Their
familyappears to exist separate to the society of the time, and their principles
appeared founded on family loyalty as opposed to the traditional value of right over
wrong, which also caused them to rely on one another for support.
Blood is used to underscore the strength of the tie within the family. One instance

Fun House, By Alison Bechdel
Fun House, the autobiography written by author Alison Bechdel centers around her
life growing up and the death of her father. The autobiography is in a graphic novel
format that artistically depicts relevant events that occurred in Bechdel s life when
she was growing up. The novel shows the problems that dysfunctional families have
in a realistic way without sugar coating anything. The plot of Fun House centers
around Bechdel s life and what it was like living in a household where the parents did
not pay that much attention to their children and focused on other things, where the
father who is supposed to the head of the household, has a dark secret concerning his
sexual orientation, where the protagonist (Alison) is dealing with gender... Show more

On page 16, Bechdel says that her father [did] not make things, but [made] things
appear the be what they were not which proves that her father wanted to keep up the
appearances of a perfect family with no problems. In my opinion, I think that it is
really sad and awful that as a child, Alison did not get the love and attention that she
should have received from her father because he was too obsessed with other things
such as decorating their house and making sure that they seemed like the perfect
family even though realistically they were not.
In Chapter 2, Alison talks about her father s death. Her father got hit by a truck
and died, and she thinks it was a suicide but there was no evidence suggesting that
and the only one who thinks that is Alison. In addition to that in Chapter 4: In the
Shadow of Young Girls in Flowers, Bechdel talks more in depth about her father s
death and describes what occurred. She explains that her father had been doing
some gardening just before he died and that was the cause of his death. According
to Alison, her father was doing yard work and as he was crossing the road with to
throw away brush that he was carrying, then suddenly he jumps backwards into the
road right as a truck is coming and it runs him over (89). The man who was driving
the truck that hit Mr. Bechdel explains that it was an accident and that Alison s father
did not jump into the road on purpose, but that he seemed
Life In Herot And Beowulf
Life in Herot is very different from the real world comparison explained in Life in
999. Life in Herot golden, and gilded whereas in the real world equivalent it would
have been more dull, and less shiny. The life people lived in 999 was very different
than the one depicted Beowulf. Beowulf in his own story seems to be this shiny
hero come to take the riches and fame that come along with monster slaying.
Beowulf takes pride in his riches, well in those times gold was a very rare
commodity showing the wealth of someone who owned gold was very important,
and having lots of gold meant you had a lot of moneyto spare, which in those times
riches were only spared so that you could fight for that person. Beowulf has lots of
gold and his men are well equipped when this battle with Grendel begins. Most
soldiers of the time could look upon them as being some great warriors to follow
such a man into battle. Beowulf could keep his country fed, unlike most kings at
the time really could. In Herot, the life explained in the epic depicts a great hall
filled with long tables, golden chalices, fire pits a plenty, and a king s high chair
gilded with gold and jewels. The life in Herot is shown as the place to be in the land.
The one where warriors feast after a great conquest, and where you entertain great
lords and kings for fun. Herot is this almost palace like place. However most great
halls at the time of Beowulf s creation were not as gilded as depicted in Beowulf.

Research Paper On Haarp
HAARP is an organization that researches the behavior of the ionosphere, the
uppermost part of the atmosphere. In Gakona, Alaska, there is a field of antennas
connected to function as one immense antenna. Each individual antenna produces
10,000 watts of electricity. With a total of 360 antennas, that adds up to 3.6 million
watts. When the antenna field is activated, the radio waves are broadcasted up or
down. All of the antennas shoot very powerful waves into the ionosphere. During
this, the waves heat the atmosphere, creating inconsistencies that allow the
ionosphere to bounce the signals back to the surface of Earth. The organization can
even control people s minds through hypnosis, in small quantities of people or entire
regions of people. When aimed a certain way, the powerful waves can modify the
weather or cause violent earthquakes.
HAARP has developed the ability to control the mind or mood of the population in
entire regions. Certain extremely low frequencies of the antenna waves can cause a
person to feel good or depressed and just affect overall behavior. HAARP deliberately
changes our brain waves by regulating our state of sensibility with transmitters. ...

HAARP can cause natural disasters like hurricanes, tornadoes, thunderstorms, and just

control global weather by sending reasonably small signals into the radiation belts
around Earth. The whole east coast of the United States was plunged into freezing
temperatures when a polar vortex caused temperatures to fall to very cold
temperatures, caused by HAARP. HAARP has tried rainmaking technology in
Vietnam. The U.S. Department of Defense sampled lightning and hurricane
manipulation studies trying to prove that hurricane Sandy was a manmade disaster.
Some scientists say that the waves hitting the ionosphere will weaken it, but HAARP

Charlemagne and the Carolingian Renaissance
The Carolingian Empire was not at full fruition when Charlemagne rose to power,
it was quite the contrary. In the eighth century, the lands covered by what is now
known as France and Belgium, as well as part of Germany made up the Frankish
state ruled by the kings of the Merovingian line. The Merovingian empire was weak
and in a steady decline; the majority of people in Western Europe were illiterate, the
economy was facing quite the major decline and the Merovingian kings became Do

Peter the Apostle of Rome. He also created a dialog with the academic world,
making his court a learning hub which could not have been done without the revival
of Latin by the educated elite in such an orally cultured empire. This language
renewal luckily occurred because of mistakes made by the monks of Fulda, so he
forced reform by making the writings of church fathers mandatory readings, as well
as the study of grammar to increase literacy among scribes, and even commoners.
Charlemagne s thirst for knowledge pushed educational boundaries. This is seen in
the learning of language and rhetoric via knowledge before action that was taught
with the help of the Liberal Arts. He organized and centralized cultural activities and
a specific curriculum to be taught at the local schools, with many provided resources
to do so. He firmly believed that the teaching of Liberal Arts to the children (and even
adults) was the duty of a ruler in order to create an educated empire able to flourish
and truly understand the world with spiritual enlightenment. In addition to these
educational reforms, Charlemagne introduced political ones. It is important to note
that Charlemagne ruled a monarchical empire with the help of the aristocracy (which
included relatives and friends) in order to contain power. Therefore, the Frankish
Empire depended on him because he was the Minister Dei (a servant of god) for
institutions, such as
Psychodynamic Approach To Leadership Analysis
Leadership is the tactics shown by an individual to lead an organization or a group
of individuals. Leaders are people who do the right thing; managers are people who
do things right (Professor Warren G. Bennis). Leaders do right things and shows

Essay on Ethos, Pathos, Logos Kings Letter to Birmingham
Ethos, Pathos amp; Logos in The Letter from Birmingham Jail Some varieties of
inspiration come as passionate love while others appeal as injustice as did Martin
Luther King in his Letter from Birmingham Jail. Martin Luther King Jr. effectively
crafted his counter argument by first directly addressing his audience, the clergymen,
and then using logos, pathos, and ethos to refute his opponent s statements and
present his own perspective. After stating the general purpose of his letter, Martin
Luther King Jr. specifically addressed the clergymen to set up for his logical

The Run And Gun Is The Genre Filling Countless...
The run and gun is the genre filling countless testosterone induced boys joy with
dreams of saving the world with only their guns and explosions. Starting with Ikari
Warriors and Contra following suit in the mid 80s, the genre continued to impress
audiences in the 90s with Gunstar Heroes, Sunset Riders, Alien Soldier, and Nazca s
(a company made up of former Irem developers) Metal Slug.
After the success of the first Metal Slug, SNK purchased the company before
releasing Metal Slug 2. The game suffered from a tremendous amount of slowdown
and several other issues. Nazaca responded to this updating MS 2 into Metal Slug X.

This was trend that was popping up in the genre since Hard Corps. This is probably
what makes this game unique is that it offers players outstanding replay value.
Whether its fighting yetis and zombies while riding on an elephant that blows fire
out of his trunk, up in the sky with an ostrich killing hundreds of people, destroying
enormous snails and weird beetles, and diving underwater on a sub and killing giant
crabs. In either case, all the different routes have their own unique flavor, making
players appreciate how much effort Nazca put into the game.
Interestingly, the game borrows from aspects of the levels from unused levels from
Metal Slug X discovered inside the game s debug menu. At the same time, the last
level is split into 4 different sections which makes for one satisfied experience but, I
won t spoil that.
Moreover, Metal Slug 3 introduces players to new items, slugs and transformations
that will travel beyond anyone s wildest dreams.
Firstly, the game introduces a few new slugs, countless that are exclusive to a certain
route, including an ostrich slug, a submarine, a drill slug, a rocket ship, a Jetpack,
and my favorite one, an elephant slug that can blow fire and electricity out of its
trunk!!!
Additionally, new items debut here, including the Thunder cloud, which is a cloud
that targets enemies and shoot them
The Black Woman By Simone De Beauvoir Essay
Black women in America today are embracing their natural hair like no other time.
The term natural is often defined differently to the natural hair community than other
races. We as black women are making it a point that our hair is beautiful in the way
that each hair follicle grows into the various hairtextures among us. For many African
Americanwomen, natural hair is a way to protest society s expectations of beauty
and create a new standard of what it means. This includes the right to wear one s
natural hair as it grows without chemicals to process it and conform to society s
expectations. Consequently, the idea that natural hair is unprofessional in any
setting is baffling. The ultimate goal intended here is to further analyze the idea
of natural hair as a part of culture and thus a big part of the identity of the black
woman. I will first turn to Simone de Beauvoir s The Second Sex to which she
argues that every force in society conspires to deprive women of their own
individuality and compress the female gender into a category only capable of
mere housework, bearing children, and being sexually submissive to their partners.
Then I will focus on W. E. B DuBois text The Souls of Black Folks and discuss his
idea of double consciousness to further the complexity of the identity of the black
woman. These two ideas will allow me to demonstrate that working African
American women are a product of subjectivity in corporate America because it is a
world dictated by
Magnetic Resonance Imaging ( Mri )
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a powerful medical imaging modality
which gives high spatial resolution images without radiation risk. MRI acquires
signals from hydrogen protons of subject. Under external static magnetic field
(B0), the spins of hydrogen protons precess with a Larmor frequency, while they
align parallel to the direction of B0. The spins align antiparallel to the direction of
B0 when additional radio frequency (RF) pulse with the Larmer requency is ap
plied. After RF pulse is removed, the protons relax through the recovery of mag
netization parallel to the direction of B0 (longitudinal or T1 relaxation) and the de
cay of transverse magnetization caused by the de phasing of the spins (transverse
or T2 relaxation) [4]. The tissue specific parameters of proton density, T1 relaxa
tion, and T2 relaxation gives contrast to the MR images. Due to this principle, MRI
gives great spatial resolution for soft tissues which contain more water molecules.
The major drawback of this technique is its relatively poor sensitivity, due to the
weak signal from protons [5]. T1 and T2 contrast agents which shorten relaxation
times have been developed to overcome its poor sensitivity and improve specifici ty.
Gd(III) chelates are the most widely used T1 contrast agents in clinical applica tions
[6]. Although Gd(III) chelates have good paramagnetic property and short en T1
relaxation, the toxicity of gadolinium ions and their rapid renal clearance limit their
use [7]. To reduce

How Does Marlowe Present Dr Faustus As A Morality Play
In Dr. Faustus, Christopher Marlowe demonstrates how temptation can drag us
down into a world of darkness and consequence. He creates a tragic epic based off
of a legend in Western culture. He uses allegorical characters to create a morality
play and present moral lessons to his audiences, typically of Christian nature. The
story of Faustus is based on an actual magician in the fifteenth century who lived in
an area of northern Germany. In the play, the common scholarly forms of authority
did not please Dr. Faustus. He believed he was too superior to remain in this realm
of knowledge and wanted to reach much further than what he was already exposed
to. Due to the strong desire to escape humanity and enter a world far beyond reality,...

Ay, we must die an everlasting death. What doctrine call you this? Che sarГ, sarГ :
What will be, shall be! Divinity, adieu! These metaphysics of magicians, and
necromantic books are heavenly! (Marlowe 1:40 50)
While Dr. Faustus is reading he comes to the conclusion that Christianity can only
promise death. However, due to his blindness of temptation he fails to read the next
lines of the Bible. He ignores a passage that speaks about the possibility of
redemption. Therefore, he ignores the possibility throughout the rest of the play,
especially when spoken to by the good angel. The desire to become powerful is
burning in his eyes and causes him to have blind spots. He can no longer see the
hopeful outcomes that can arise in his current situation. When he turns his back on
heaven he believes that black magic is now the heavenly source and religion is the
source of everlasting death. Dr. Faustus craves to practice necromancy as soon as
possible, not thinking about the consequences that may follow. When his friends,
Valdes and Cornelius come to visit him, he is speaking strongly about his yearning
and says, Tis the magic, magic that hath ravished me (Marlowe 1:112). In response,
they warn him about what he is about to get himself in to. Cornelius says, The
miracles that magic will perform will make thee vow to study nothing else (Marlowe
1:136 137). Without hesitation, blinded by his dark desires, Dr. Faustus fully

Tim Wu s Summary
Tim Wu is the writer of The Master Switch in which he describes a systematic cycle
that technology companies go through from when they first start to what they are
now. This process starts with a fresh company who remains in a free and open state,
but as the government becomes more involved in the companies activities, they start
to be more government controlled. Then for the company to remain in power over
their respective industry, they buy out smaller companies who are trying to create
competition. This Cycle of being free changing to government control then
monopolization is what Tim Wu considers the Cycle. Although this idea has been

National Surety Justifies Its Disregard Of The Waivers
National Surety justifies its disregard of the Waivers because it contends WCS
forfeited its right to enforce the Waivers upon the execution of the 2007 settlement
agreement. This position, however, is couched on the mistaken premise that the
Waivers are rights, claims, debts, liens, demands, [or] actions of any nature
whatsoever. (Appellant s Brief at p. 9). To the contrary, the Waivers bargained for in
the AIA Contract operate as immediate discharges of Metropolitan s right to pursue
claims that are covered by insurance. Accordingly, the Waivers are units of
consideration that Metropolitan tendered when the AIA Contract was executed.

If, however, the release is merely a discharge given by and from the perspective of
the releasing party, then it affords no affirmative rights to the released party and it

Md. App. at 682. Like the release at issue in Kaye, the Waivers at issue here are not
affirmative rights possessed by WCS, but the voluntary forfeiture of rights previously
possessed by Metropolitan. Indeed, the analytical constructs governing waiver of
subrogation clauses generally mandate a construction consistent with Kaye: Because
an essential element of subrogation is that the insured [here, Metropolitan] have a

Torture Is Cruel And Unusual Punishment
David Figueroa Eng. 101A Professor Stern 4/20/15 Final draft In conclusion, in
discussions of torture, one controversial issue has been on the use of it. On one
hand, the people against torture argue that it is cruel and unusual punishment. On the
other hand, those for torture argue that it should be used for the greater good.
Others even maintain that under extreme circumstances, it may be admissible if it
can save American lives. My own view is that no one should be subjected to cruel
punishment because it is not only illegal, unreliable, ineffective, time consuming, it
also has too many flaws that could potentially ruin innocent lives. The definition of
torture is any act, whether physical or emotional, or maybe both, is intentionally
subjected to a specific individual or a group for many reasons. Most of these
reasons that torture is administered is for extracting information from an individual
or just for punishing him/her for a crime that he/she has committed or is suspected
of committing. The use of torture can be used to intimidate a person to give
information that may be beneficial for a nation. The use of torture has been used for
many centuries. The purposes of using torture have changed over the years as well
as the methods in which a person is tortured. One crucial piece that has been
established that separates us human beings from barbarians is the prohibition of using
torture. There are many reasons why torture has been deemed a crime now in society.

that you need.
How it Works
A variable speed motor does exactly what the name says it provides variable speeds
of operation, and delivers the speed required for the minute to minute needs. For
example, when temperatures are extreme, the motor operates at a higher speed. On
the other hand, when temperatures are mild, the motor operates at a slower speed,
conserving energy. And reducing wear and tear on the motor. Conventional fans
operate at a single speed, consistently consuming a higher rate of electricity than a
lower speed fan would.
The variable speed fan differs from single, two or three speed fans, which operate
at a set RPM for each fan speed. A variable speed motor operates from 0 RPM to full
speed and everything in between. The fan sensors determine the airflow and
dehumidification your home needs, and provides it precisely. When increasing
comfort and saving energy are important to you, consider the benefits of a variable
speed fan. Contact our HVAC technicians for additional information, or to schedule
installation,
Gingival Overgrowth Analysis
This article examines the causes of drug induced gingival overgrowth. Three main
categories of drugs that are particularly related to gingival overgrowth are discussed.
The authors also discuss the appearance of this condition so that dental hygienists can
easily identify it. They continue with offering ways in which dental hygienists can be
prepared to help patients with this condition. The authors discuss three categories of
drugs that contribute to gingival overgrowth: anticonvulsants, immunosuppressants,
and calcium channel blockers. First of all, the anticonvulsant phenytoin (brand name
is Dilantin) is the preferred drug used to treat epilepsy. It is also used to treat
neuralgia and cardiac arrhythmias. Phenytoin is often prescribed for long term use,
and approximately... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The appearance of phenytoin induced gingival overgrowth usually includes an
enlarged pebbly marginal gingiva and bulbous interdental papillae. In severe cases,
the gingival overgrowth may completely cover the teeth surfaces. Bacterial plaque is
an important determining factor of the severity of phenytoin induced gingival
overgrowth. Secondly, calcium channel blockers are another drug with gingival
overgrowth implications. These drugs are used to treat cardiovascular disorders, such
as angina, arrhythmias, hypertension, and acute myocardial infarction. With this type
of gingival overgrowth, gingival enlargement is usually more prevalent in the anterior
region of the mouth. Gingivitis is a factor that predisposes patients to gingival
overgrowth when they are taking calcium channel blockers. Finally, the
immunosuppressant drug cyclosporine is the
Law Enforcement Officers Face Incredible Dangers Essay
Law enforcement officers have encountered some very deadly days. The life of a
law enforcement officer is one of constantly being aware of your surroundings,
dealing with the uncertainty of not knowing the individuals you have to approach,
and being able to cope with the visual images seen after vicious crimes. The life of
a law enforcement officer, who protects and serves, is both challenging and
rewarding. The first law enforcement system was established in Boston,
Massachusetts over 350 years ago. During this time in the Colonies that were not
heavily populated, the sheriff served as the main law enforcement officer. During
the 1800 s, 24 hour law enforcement service and systems similar to what is used
today began to emerge (NLEMI). Law enforcement officers face incredible
dangers. With over 900,000 law enforcement officers nationwide the Federal
Bureau of Investigations reported approximately 1,165,383 violent crimes in 2014.
Approximately one law enforcement officer dies every 61 hours (NLEMI).The law
enforcement profession is the most challenging and dangerous career, because
officers must be aware of every law and action they take at all times, manage
constant training and stress, and protecting others as well as themselves in the line
of duty. Law enforcement officers must be aware of the laws governing the state
they work in and analyze every action the decide to take. The number of statutes and
laws is enormous. For example, there are more than 20,000 federal laws

What Model Of Structured Reflection Essay
The WHAT Model of Structured Reflection: What? So what and now what?
Taking time to volunteer at schools, childcare facilities, non profit organizations, and
various other local community services is not always a top priority of young people
while navigating through their college or university experiences. Service learning,
however, is a work based learning experience through which students learn, develop,
and apply academic and vocational skills to address the real life needs of their local
communities (Bettina Lankard Brown). It offers an atmosphere in which students
can obtain problem solving, leadership, teamwork, and other skills necessary for their
future employment.
What?
What happened? Include descriptive facts, what happened, with whom; the substance
of the interaction.
Over the past few months, I have been assisting a teacher of a, split, grade 1 2 class
at Pioneer Park Elementary School for my service learning placement. Every
Wednesday morning I arrive at the school between 8:30 and 9:00 am. My first duty
includes helping the teacher hang up student`s artwork, from the previous day, in the
hallway near their classroom. The bell then rings promptly at 9:00 am and, at this
time, I hold the door open for the grade 1 and 2 children to come barreling into the
school. After removing their coats, backpacks, and boots or outdoor shoes, the
students settle down and stand in a straight line before the teacher allows them to go
into the classroom. Once inside

Dna Profiling Research Paper
Indeed DNA profiling has rapidly transform the field of forensics. DNA profiling is
the scientific analysis of evidence for crime scene investigation and other legal
proceedings. DNA profiling is mostly used by forensic scientists and crime lab
technicians. To identify criminals and victims using trace evidence like hair or skin
samples. To produce a DNAprofile, scientists compare sequences in the genome that
vary from person to person. The typical steps in DNA profilingare DNA samples are
isolated from the crimescene, suspect, victims, or other evidence. The next selected
sequences from each DNA sample are amplified (copied many times) to produce a
large sample of DNA fragments. Finally the amplified DNA regions are compared
using a gel. All together, these steps provide data about which samples are from the
same individual and which sample is unique.
DNA profiling can also be used to compare the DNA of a mother, her child, and the
purported father can settle a question of paternity. An example is when DNA
profiling proved that Thomas Jefferson or a close relative father a child of a slave

Microbes are bacteria, archaea and eukaryotes. The earth was formed 4.6 million
years ago. And a few million years later, by 3.5 billion years ago, earth was already
inhabited by a diversity of organisms. The earliest organism is Prokaryotes and
within the next billion years, two distinct groups of prokaryotes called bacteria and
archaea diverged. Eukaryotes cell evolved from a prokaryotes community, a host
cell containing even smaller prokaryotes .The microbial world accounted for all
known life forms for nearly 50 to 90% of Earth s history. We are still researching
microbial organisms today in marine environment, extreme environments. A

characterization of novel microorganisms and microbial communities of diverse
Once More To The Lake Comparison
Many people, after reading The Death of the Moth by Virginia Woolf or Once
More to the Lake, would get the general idea that both essays are about death.
However, it is apparent to me that both works are really an illustration of the
significance of life, but each essay accomplishes this in a different way. I aim to
show how these two essays are alike by comparing their similar theme of carpe diem
as well as some stylistic choices.
I say carpe diem because, to me, the essays convey the message that we are all
going to die someday so we must make the most of the time we are allotted. The
most evident symbols of this underlying theme are the dying moth in Woolf s essay
and E. B. White s realization that time waits for no one in his. As grim as they may
be, these two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
B. White, he employs the use of a different tactic to convey a similar message. Like
the moth essay, Once More to the Lake deals with the concepts of life and death, but
it does so in a less direct way. The part of the essay I would like to focus on is
White s realization that time is marching ever forward. This part is not actually a
specific point in the essay but takes place throughout the whole of it much like the
moths slow, yet lively trudge toward death. Gradually, White realizes that he has
morphed into the image of his father that he had as a boy, and that his son will
someday take his place as well, shown by the line, I began to sustain the illusion that
he was I, and therefore, by simple transposition, that I was my father. At the very
end, White says, As he buckled the swollen belt suddenly my groin felt the chill of
death, which is White realizing his own mortality. Although, this is where the essay
ends, I imagine that this realization sparked something within him that drove him to
appreciate his life and live it more fully, enjoying the company of his family and
friends, which is why he went to the lake in the first place. Again, this echoes the
carpe diem

  • 2. The World s Greatest Satirist The World s Greatest Satirist James Thurber is a satirist. Satire is the use of humor, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize people s stupidity or vices. It is also deliberate. His writing is full of common sense, humor, and irony. The characters in his stories work extra hard to end up using simple solutions. The diction in all his stories is very clear and simple. His writing is meant for everyone in every class and every age group. The style and content of his stories make them timeless and relatable to anyone, even the people about whom he is making fun. Richard Tobias has the best description of Thurber s humoristic displays. Tobias says: Thurber s comedy, like any successful comedy, displays variations on the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also, his first wife, much like his mother, was a nut case. His father was a meek man who let his wife run amok despite knowing she was a loose cannon. These characters in his life influence and epitomize the characters in his stories. Thurber writes about decisions in life, and while he may be using bunnies and wolves to make the examples, the realities he portrays most are revenge, materialism, and cowardice. To externalize Thurber s inner discomposure toward women, he tends to use his pieces to ridicule the fairer sex. His fiction imitates his life, and his life was filled with scorn and contempt for the path to which he was pinned. Thurber also writes quite a bit about morals. In all the following stories the moral is a variation of: Go with you first instinct. Unicorn in the Garden is a story about a woman with contempt for her excitable husband. She sees an opportunity to have him sent to the loony bin and takes it. However, she is the one who ends up in the booby hatch. As soon as the husband had gone out of the house, the wife got up and dressed as fast as she could. She was very excited and there was a gloat in her eye. She telephoned the police and she telephoned a psychiatrist; she told them to hurry to her house and bring a strait jacket. She is a coward here. She waits until he leaves the room to call the psychiatrist. Clearly, she is jealous of him in some way. It is not clear why she has such distain for her
  • 3. Nursing Reflection The objective of this reflection is to explore and reflect upon a situation from a clinical placement on an orthopedic unit. The incident showed that I did not provide safe, timely and competent care for my patient when the oxygen saturation was low. Furthermore, this reflection will include a description of the incident, and I will conclude with explaining what I have learned from the experience and how it will change my future actions. The incident happened on Nov 21st, 2017. The patient has sleep apnea and a health history of chronic bronchitis (no episode in recent 2 years). Her respiration rate was 16 and all lung fields were clear upon auscultation. After I took the patient s vital signs, I noticed that her oxygen saturation was low (83%). Then, I notified the nurse and asked the patient to do take some deep breath. After that, we put her on 2L of oxygen and her oxygen saturation went up to above 90s. However, the patient had a bladder control problem (was incontinent), so I took the oxygen off because she went to the toilet for around 4 5 times in an hour. However, I forgot to monitor her O2 saturation right away. Instead, I checked her oxygen saturation after she finished her dinner, and it dropped to 86%. The instructor showed me how deep breathing exercise can help the patient increase her oxygen level quickly. I notified the nurse and we put the patient on 2L of oxygen, but again I forgot to check her oxygen saturation right away. Instead, I checked her oxygen around 7pm later. I stayed close to the patient during this whole period, but I was not paying enough attention to her low oxygen level. The patient was a healthcare aid and she kept telling me that, It s ok, I am always a shallow breather . However, I should have my own judgement ability and provide more competent care with timely evaluation of the effectiveness of the interventions. After being reminded by the instructor, I was aware of my mistakes and noticed that I failed to maintain patient s safety. An oxygen below 90% can be very dangerous for the patient, especially for a post op day #1 patient, because prolonged hypoxemia can cause fatigue, headache, acute respiratory failure, cardiac problems (increased heart rate,

Despite the fact the airline industry had 87 new airline failures in U.S. over the past 20 years. Neeleman s plan convinced a group of investors and quickly raised $130 million from venture capital community. This is the way JetBlue Airways established. With its strong capital base, JetBlue acquired a fleet of new Airbus A320 aircraft and focused on low cost, point to point service to large metropolitan areas with high average fares or highly traveled markets that were underserved. Appliance Station must now raise $75 million to modernize the two plants and expand the Phoenix facility in order to accommodate expected sales increases in Appliance Station s business in the housing market in the Nevada and Arizona markets. There are three possible financing alternatives to raise the needed $75 million: 1) a stock issue, 4 million new common shares at a price of $20 per share. If the rating is not good such as BB, then it s not easy to sell the bond and the interest rate will be higher, so the company might not raise enough money. Second, Appliance station needs to pay interest for the bond. (AAA rating s interest is the lowest around 1%). If the company cannot pay the

You bend down to take a look. It is a cockroach! In New York City, in all homes and buildings, cockroaches abound. Just like its human residents, New York City s roaches are among the most diverse in the world. Cockroaches have been around for millions of years, evolving into some of the most adaptable pests on Earth. And no matter how hard exterminators try, the stubborn cockroaches don t seem to die off. If we don t stop them from entering, the next thing we know unwanted guests are partying with us and drinking our alcoholic beverages ( Orkin ). As long as we (unwillingly) provide food, shelter, and water for cockroaches they will forever infest our homes. Pest World states that cockroaches are attracted to sweet and floury foods (Cockroach Extermination). But even if you try to starve these critters, they won t just die off. They ll actually survive a whole month with no food, but only days without water. It is vital we stop supplying water to these pests. In addition, a cockroach can hold its breath for 40 minutes and survive underwater for at least half an hour (Cockroach Extermination). That means they can swim up our drainpipes into our sinks and bathtubs. We should begin by repairing the tiniest leakages and making sure no water is left standing in our sinks. Cockroaches are extremely attracted to moist areas even to the smallest bit of water. For example, New Yorker Ruby Ahuja said: I used to work in a dry building, and when I d leave a cup on my table after washing it out at night, leaving a few drops of water inside, I would find the cup full of roaches the next morning. What a beautiful sight to see early in the morning. Furthermore, when it comes to their

  • 9. Multi Team Healthcare Introduction Cancer clinical trials require multi team systems to provide cohesive care that promotes enrollment and provides effective treatment for patients. Research and clinic teams often have different goals; the research team prioritizes protocol implementation and the clinic team prioritizes clinic care. An inability to coordinate cancer care through distribution of responsibilities, communication and understanding of goals can ultimately lead to rivalries, differing perceptions and affect the efficiency of the multi team system. Although there are studies exploring these dynamics within multi teams, there is limited information on this in the setting of cancer care. Methods The study analyzed multi team care in five categories: group identity, perceived objectives/goals, perceived information sharing /interaction frequency, perceived group homogeneity and perceived contributions to outcomes. The survey was modeled from the validated research studies on social identity theory and adapted for cancer care. The impact of reproduction on younger females is an important part of elephant survival, however, it is the impact of reproduction over time that provides understanding of the future of elephant populations. Hayward et al. also used the Myanmar timber camp Elephas maximus to perform the research, looking at the records of 416 reproductive captive born mothers and their offspring. The elephants used were from 8 regions of the Myanmar timber camps with the youngest breeding being 5 years of age and the oldest being 53. The mean age at the first birth of offspring was 19.48 years with the maximum number of lifetime calves being 10 calves. Hayward et al. discovered that individuals who didn t produce calves before the age of 19 had lower calf survival than those who produced one or more calves before the age of 19. Although beginning reproduction earlier in life is correlated with a shorter lifespan, the cost is outweighed with higher annual breeding success as well as increased calf survival (Hayward et al). The investment of energy and resources into breeding at an early age increases the chance of calf survival but also results in shorter lifespans compared to those who begin reproduction later in life (Hayward et al.). Based on the findings, the costs of early life reproduction are offset by higher lifetime breeding success in younger elephants. The breeding success of younger elephants can be attributed not only to early reproduction, but also to older females in a herd. While Hayward et al. observes the effects of young

The name Badlands is derived from the Lakota phrase makИџГіЕЎiДЌa, meaning Land of Bad Spirits. Today, some Lakota believe that the Badlands are a place to be avoided because it is where bad spirits exist. This paper will discuss the geographic location, geological formation, Lakota legends, reasons the site is visited, time or seasons to visit and Lakota stargazing associated with the site. When applicable, Lakota words will be provided. Geographic Location and Geology The Badlands are geographically located in Southwest South Dakota, the Southern Unit being within the Pine Ridge Reservation. The Oglala Lakota Nation co manages the Southern Unit of Badlands National Park. The Badlands were deposited in layers over millions of years. The layers are constructed of sediments such as sand, silt, and clay that have been cemented together into sedimentary rocks. Different environments caused different sediments to accumulate there at different times. The oldest formations are at the bottom and the youngest are at the top. The black Pierre Shale is the bottom layer of the Badlands and was deposited between 69 and 75 million years ago when a shallow sea stretched across what is now the Great Plains. Sediment filtered through the seawater, forming a black mud on the sea floor that has since hardened into shale. Fossil clams, ammonites, and sea reptiles are

Sartoris must decide whether loyalty to family or doing the right thing is ethically an essential thing. For Abner, Sartoris s father, family loyalty is prized above all else. You got to learn to stick to your own blood or you ain t going to have any blood to stick to you (Faulkner, William 1939). The autobiography is in a graphic novel format that artistically depicts relevant events that occurred in Bechdel s life when she was growing up. The novel shows the problems that dysfunctional families have in a realistic way without sugar coating anything. The plot of Fun House centers around Bechdel s life and what it was like living in a household where the parents did not pay that much attention to their children and focused on other things, where the father who is supposed to the head of the household, has a dark secret concerning his sexual orientation, where the protagonist (Alison) is dealing with gender... On page 16, Bechdel says that her father [did] not make things, but [made] things appear the be what they were not which proves that her father wanted to keep up the appearances of a perfect family with no problems. In my opinion, I think that it is really sad and awful that as a child, Alison did not get the love and attention that she should have received from her father because he was too obsessed with other things such as decorating their house and making sure that they seemed like the perfect family even though realistically they were not. In Chapter 2, Alison talks about her father s death. Her father got hit by a truck and died, and she thinks it was a suicide but there was no evidence suggesting that and the only one who thinks that is Alison. In addition to that in Chapter 4: In the Shadow of Young Girls in Flowers, Bechdel talks more in depth about her father s death and describes what occurred. She explains that her father had been doing some gardening just before he died and that was the cause of his death. According to Alison, her father was doing yard work and as he was crossing the road with to throw away brush that he was carrying, then suddenly he jumps backwards into the road right as a truck is coming and it runs him over (89). • 16. Life In Herot And Beowulf Life in Herot is very different from the real world comparison explained in Life in 999. Life in Herot golden, and gilded whereas in the real world equivalent it would have been more dull, and less shiny. The life people lived in 999 was very different than the one depicted Beowulf. Beowulf in his own story seems to be this shiny hero come to take the riches and fame that come along with monster slaying. Beowulf takes pride in his riches, well in those times gold was a very rare commodity showing the wealth of someone who owned gold was very important, and having lots of gold meant you had a lot of moneyto spare, which in those times riches were only spared so that you could fight for that person. Beowulf has lots of gold and his men are well equipped when this battle with Grendel begins. Most soldiers of the time could look upon them as being some great warriors to follow such a man into battle. Beowulf could keep his country fed, unlike most kings at the time really could. In Herot, the life explained in the epic depicts a great hall filled with long tables, golden chalices, fire pits a plenty, and a king s high chair gilded with gold and jewels. The life in Herot is shown as the place to be in the land. The one where warriors feast after a great conquest, and where you entertain great lords and kings for fun. In Gakona, Alaska, there is a field of antennas connected to function as one immense antenna. Each individual antenna produces 10,000 watts of electricity. With a total of 360 antennas, that adds up to 3.6 million watts. When the antenna field is activated, the radio waves are broadcasted up or down. All of the antennas shoot very powerful waves into the ionosphere. During this, the waves heat the atmosphere, creating inconsistencies that allow the ionosphere to bounce the signals back to the surface of Earth. The organization can even control people s minds through hypnosis, in small quantities of people or entire regions of people. When aimed a certain way, the powerful waves can modify the weather or cause violent earthquakes. HAARP has developed the ability to control the mind or mood of the population in entire regions. Certain extremely low frequencies of the antenna waves can cause a person to feel good or depressed and just affect overall behavior. In the eighth century, the lands covered by what is now known as France and Belgium, as well as part of Germany made up the Frankish state ruled by the kings of the Merovingian line. The Merovingian empire was weak and in a steady decline; the majority of people in Western Europe were illiterate, the economy was facing quite the major decline and the Merovingian kings became Do Nothing Kings (Rois fainГ©ants) after the death of Dagobert 639 AD. He also created a dialog with the academic world, making his court a learning hub which could not have been done without the revival of Latin by the educated elite in such an orally cultured empire. This language renewal luckily occurred because of mistakes made by the monks of Fulda, so he forced reform by making the writings of church fathers mandatory readings, as well as the study of grammar to increase literacy among scribes, and even commoners. Charlemagne s thirst for knowledge pushed educational boundaries. This is seen in the learning of language and rhetoric via knowledge before action that was taught with the help of the Liberal Arts. He organized and centralized cultural activities and a specific curriculum to be taught at the local schools, with many provided resources to do so. He firmly believed that the teaching of Liberal Arts to the children (and even adults) was the duty of a ruler in order to create an educated empire able to flourish and truly understand the world with spiritual enlightenment. In addition to these educational reforms, Charlemagne introduced political ones. It is important to note that Charlemagne ruled a monarchical empire with the help of the aristocracy (which included relatives and friends) in order to contain power. Therefore, the Frankish Empire depended on him because he was the Minister Dei (a servant of god) for institutions, such as

  • 22. The Black Woman By Simone De Beauvoir Essay Black women in America today are embracing their natural hair like no other time. The term natural is often defined differently to the natural hair community than other races. We as black women are making it a point that our hair is beautiful in the way that each hair follicle grows into the various hairtextures among us. For many African Americanwomen, natural hair is a way to protest society s expectations of beauty and create a new standard of what it means. This includes the right to wear one s natural hair as it grows without chemicals to process it and conform to society s expectations. Consequently, the idea that natural hair is unprofessional in any setting is baffling. The ultimate goal intended here is to further analyze the idea of natural hair as a part of culture and thus a big part of the identity of the black woman. I will first turn to Simone de Beauvoir s The Second Sex to which she argues that every force in society conspires to deprive women of their own individuality and compress the female gender into a category only capable of mere housework, bearing children, and being sexually submissive to their partners. Then I will focus on W. E. B DuBois text The Souls of Black Folks and discuss his idea of double consciousness to further the complexity of the identity of the black woman. These two ideas will allow me to demonstrate that working African American women are a product of subjectivity in corporate America because it is a world dictated by

MRI acquires signals from hydrogen protons of subject. Under external static magnetic field (B0), the spins of hydrogen protons precess with a Larmor frequency, while they align parallel to the direction of B0. The spins align antiparallel to the direction of B0 when additional radio frequency (RF) pulse with the Larmer requency is ap plied. After RF pulse is removed, the protons relax through the recovery of mag netization parallel to the direction of B0 (longitudinal or T1 relaxation) and the de cay of transverse magnetization caused by the de phasing of the spins (transverse or T2 relaxation) [4]. The tissue specific parameters of proton density, T1 relaxa tion, and T2 relaxation gives contrast to the MR images. Due to this principle, MRI gives great spatial resolution for soft tissues which contain more water molecules. The major drawback of this technique is its relatively poor sensitivity, due to the weak signal from protons [5]. T1 and T2 contrast agents which shorten relaxation times have been developed to overcome its poor sensitivity and improve specifici ty. Gd(III) chelates are the most widely used T1 contrast agents in clinical applica tions [6]. Although Gd(III) chelates have good paramagnetic property and short en T1 relaxation, the toxicity of gadolinium ions and their rapid renal clearance limit their use [7]. To reduce

He creates a tragic epic based off of a legend in Western culture. He uses allegorical characters to create a morality play and present moral lessons to his audiences, typically of Christian nature. The story of Faustus is based on an actual magician in the fifteenth century who lived in an area of northern Germany. In the play, the common scholarly forms of authority did not please Dr. Faustus. However, due to his blindness of temptation he fails to read the next lines of the Bible. He ignores a passage that speaks about the possibility of redemption. Dr. Faustus craves to practice necromancy as soon as possible, not thinking about the consequences that may follow. When his friends, Valdes and Cornelius come to visit him, he is speaking strongly about his yearning and says, Tis the magic, magic that hath ravished me (Marlowe 1:112). Torture Is Cruel And Unusual Punishment David Figueroa Eng. 101A Professor Stern 4/20/15 Final draft In conclusion, in discussions of torture, one controversial issue has been on the use of it. On one hand, the people against torture argue that it is cruel and unusual punishment. On the other hand, those for torture argue that it should be used for the greater good. Others even maintain that under extreme circumstances, it may be admissible if it can save American lives. My own view is that no one should be subjected to cruel punishment because it is not only illegal, unreliable, ineffective, time consuming, it also has too many flaws that could potentially ruin innocent lives. The definition of torture is any act, whether physical or emotional, or maybe both, is intentionally subjected to a specific individual or a group for many reasons. Most of these reasons that torture is administered is for extracting information from an individual or just for punishing him/her for a crime that he/she has committed or is suspected of committing. The use of torture can be used to intimidate a person to give information that may be beneficial for a nation. The use of torture has been used for many centuries. The purposes of using torture have changed over the years as well as the methods in which a person is tortured. One crucial piece that has been established that separates us human beings from barbarians is the prohibition of using torture. There are many reasons why torture has been deemed a crime now in society. There are

Our technicians offer the installation, and the air conditioning repair in Arlington, TX that you need. How it Works A variable speed motor does exactly what the name says it provides variable speeds of operation, and delivers the speed required for the minute to minute needs. For example, when temperatures are extreme, the motor operates at a higher speed. On the other hand, when temperatures are mild, the motor operates at a slower speed, conserving energy. And reducing wear and tear on the motor. Conventional fans operate at a single speed, consistently consuming a higher rate of electricity than a lower speed fan would. The variable speed fan differs from single, two or three speed fans, which operate at a set RPM for each fan speed. A variable speed motor operates from 0 RPM to full speed and everything in between. The fan sensors determine the airflow and dehumidification your home needs, and provides it precisely. When increasing comfort and saving energy are important to you, consider the benefits of a variable speed fan. Contact our HVAC technicians for additional information, or to schedule installation,

In severe cases, the gingival overgrowth may completely cover the teeth surfaces. Bacterial plaque is an important determining factor of the severity of phenytoin induced gingival overgrowth. Secondly, calcium channel blockers are another drug with gingival overgrowth implications. These drugs are used to treat cardiovascular disorders, such as angina, arrhythmias, hypertension, and acute myocardial infarction. With this type of gingival overgrowth, gingival enlargement is usually more prevalent in the anterior region of the mouth. Gingivitis is a factor that predisposes patients to gingival overgrowth when they are taking calcium channel blockers. Finally, the immunosuppressant drug cyclosporine is the

Taking time to volunteer at schools, childcare facilities, non profit organizations, and various other local community services is not always a top priority of young people while navigating through their college or university experiences. Service learning, however, is a work based learning experience through which students learn, develop, and apply academic and vocational skills to address the real life needs of their local communities (Bettina Lankard Brown). It offers an atmosphere in which students can obtain problem solving, leadership, teamwork, and other skills necessary for their future employment. What? What happened? Include descriptive facts, what happened, with whom; the substance of the interaction. Over the past few months, I have been assisting a teacher of a, split, grade 1 2 class at Pioneer Park Elementary School for my service learning placement. Every Wednesday morning I arrive at the school between 8:30 and 9:00 am. My first duty includes helping the teacher hang up student`s artwork, from the previous day, in the hallway near their classroom. The bell then rings promptly at 9:00 am and, at this time, I hold the door open for the grade 1 and 2 children to come barreling into the school. After removing their coats, backpacks, and boots or outdoor shoes, the students settle down and stand in a straight line before the teacher allows them to go into the classroom. Once inside

  • 45. Dna Profiling Research Paper Indeed DNA profiling has rapidly transform the field of forensics. DNA profiling is the scientific analysis of evidence for crime scene investigation and other legal proceedings. DNA profiling is mostly used by forensic scientists and crime lab technicians. To identify criminals and victims using trace evidence like hair or skin samples. To produce a DNAprofile, scientists compare sequences in the genome that vary from person to person. The typical steps in DNA profilingare DNA samples are isolated from the crimescene, suspect, victims, or other evidence. The next selected sequences from each DNA sample are amplified (copied many times) to produce a large sample of DNA fragments. Finally the amplified DNA regions are compared using a gel. All together, these steps provide data about which samples are from the same individual and which sample is unique. DNA profiling can also be used to compare the DNA of a mother, her child, and the purported father can settle a question of paternity. • 46. Once More To The Lake Comparison Many people, after reading The Death of the Moth by Virginia Woolf or Once More to the Lake, would get the general idea that both essays are about death. However, it is apparent to me that both works are really an illustration of the significance of life, but each essay accomplishes this in a different way. I aim to show how these two essays are alike by comparing their similar theme of carpe diem as well as some stylistic choices. I say carpe diem because, to me, the essays convey the message that we are all going to die someday so we must make the most of the time we are allotted. The most evident symbols of this underlying theme are the dying moth in Woolf s essay and E. B. White s realization that time waits for no one in his. As grim as they may be, these two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... B. White, he employs the use of a different tactic to convey a similar message. Like the moth essay, Once More to the Lake deals with the concepts of life and death, but it does so in a less direct way. The part of the essay I would like to focus on is White s realization that time is marching ever forward. This part is not actually a specific point in the essay but takes place throughout the whole of it much like the moths slow, yet lively trudge toward death. Gradually, White realizes that he has morphed into the image of his father that he had as a boy, and that his son will someday take his place as well, shown by the line, I began to sustain the illusion that he was I, and therefore, by simple transposition, that I was my father. At the very end, White says, As he buckled the swollen belt suddenly my groin felt the chill of death, which is White realizing his own mortality. Although, this is where the essay ends, I imagine that this realization sparked something within him that drove him to appreciate his life and live it more fully, enjoying the company of his family and friends, which is why he went to the lake in the first place. Again, this echoes the carpe diem
