Essay On Self Help Is The Best Help
Crafting an essay on the subject of self-help presents a unique challenge, as it requires a delicate
balance of personal insight, research, and practical examples to effectively convey the
importance and efficacy of this concept. Exploring the nuances of self-reliance, motivation, and
resilience demands not only a thorough understanding of the topic but also a reflective approach
that encourages introspection and critical analysis.
Navigating through the intricacies of self-help literature and philosophical discussions, while
weaving in personal anecdotes or experiences, adds layers of complexity to the writing process.
Furthermore, finding the right blend of scholarly references and real-life examples to support
key arguments can be a daunting task, requiring extensive research and careful selection of
sources.
One must also be mindful of avoiding clichГ©s or oversimplifications, as the topic of self-help is
often fraught with generic advice and platitudes. Instead, the essay should strive to offer fresh
insights and perspectives that resonate with readers on a deeper level, inspiring them to take
meaningful action towards self-improvement.
In essence, composing an essay on the theme of self-help demands not only literary skill but also
a genuine commitment to exploring the intricacies of human nature and personal development. It
is a journey that requires patience, introspection, and a willingness to embrace both the
challenges and rewards of self-discovery.

The Formation Of Islamic And Western Law
Islamic law, or Shariah, is legal system governing the members of the Islamic faith.
The formation of Islamic and Western law has similar types of foundation structures
that have supported what it is today. There are also many different ways people can
interpret Shariah and apply it to modern society. Although there are strong influences
that hinder the practice of Islamic law, abandoning the law is not the best solution to
countries in turmoil.
Islamic Law
The formation of Islamic law is thought to have been started after the first three
generations of Prophet Muhammad s death in 632 AD. After Muhammad s death, the
Islamic community was faced with confusion and constitutional crisis. Mohammad s
predecessor, Abu Bakr, assumed the role of caliph, but only ruled for two years due
to an assassination. His main focus was to bring the tribes back to Islam that had
broke ties to Islam and Mohamad after his death. Succeeding Bakr s reign was
another companion of the prophet named Umar and under his caliphate expanded
Islam at an unprecedented rate. The rapid expansion of territory unified the Arab
culture, Islamic religion, and political aspects. This melting pot of private individuals
brought legal concepts, and institutions that were familiar to the native cultures to
help develop Islamic Law, or jurist law. The jurists could come together to implement
a common law, since problems that were the same in nature, but located differently
geographically, often had different
The History Of Occupational Success In New York City

American dream . The American dream speaks to the idea of one creating success in
the new nation that they migrated to. In certain lines of business such as dry

In most labor markets and economies, social networks are one of the most powerful
players. Social networks affect economic outcomes because it affects the flow and
quality of information. Also, individuals use social contracts and networks already in
place in order to invest in each other. Immigrant entrepreneurs rely on the
communities of individuals within their cultural and ethnic group for venture start up
and continuity of business. Immigrant business owners use mutual trust and informal
relationships in order to gain financial start up and knowledge. Many Jamaican
entrepreneurs found that common cultural or ethnic connections have created
networks of support, contacts, financing, infrastructure, and equipment s. Inner group
networking is defined as organized informal networking created by a group who share
with each other their business interests, personal contacts, insider secrets, trade,
financial resources and employees. Jamaican entrepreneurs pass along techniques of
venture startup and continuity to less established businesses sin order to maintain
their ethnic presence in communities. Furthermore, the informal networks of
Jamaican businesses are created in their host countries through networking during
employment, and by purchasing goods and services
Ottis Toolle Rape Case
One of the cases of Behavior Therapy is the broader list of killer Ottis Toole . The
case study about a young boy, Toole suffered a great deal of rejection and humiliation
at the hand of those whom he looked to for support. Toole turn his frustration toward
more vulnerable targets because he could not retaliate against those that inflicted his
pain. Hence, his long career of murderbegan when he was 14. Toole is credited with
multiple killing when he at Western United States. He stormed into a massage parlor
in Colorado Springs. He stabbed one employee and slit her throat. Another employee
was raped, shot and stabbed. Toole next travel to Jacksonville and meet his infamous
partner in crime, Henry Lee Lucas. Toole and two teenage accomplices burn two
houses. At the time of Toole s arrest and sentencing, his former associate, Henry
Lucas, was already in prison freely divulging information concerning the many
murders that he and Toole had committed. Toole supports Lucas s statement and
claimed participation in more than 100 murders (Singer Hensley, 2004).... Show more

world, as he perceived it, was one in which people could only be cruel. Dominated
by his feelings of frustration caused by his rejection by everyone closed to him, Toole

Sesame Street Observation Report
Many children, almost half of all children in the United States, in fact watch Sesame
Street daily while attending child care. On my behalf, it is helpful from my
experiences working in an afterschool program. Their goals, include teaching letters
and numbers, increasing vocabulary, and teaching preliterate skills. Which, is
everything that they provide by watching the show, it s more than entertainment. In
addition, since the program is also a nonprofit educational organization, their purpose
is outstanding and shows how much they care about helping the future.
As children grow through early and middle childhood, they are learning and
developing many skills and abilities, including conservation, theory of mind,

That including, conservation, theory of mind, language, autonomy and initiative,
emotional regulation, empathy, understanding gender, social skills, prosocial
behavior, and moral reasoning.
As mentioned above, Sesame Street was devised with the express purpose of
providing an educational experience for preschoolers. Its specific goals include
teaching letters and numbers, increasing vocabulary, and teaching preliterate skills.
Sesame Street compares to preschool in terms of influencing young children s
development because they take action by apply teaching with creativity. Furthermore,
this program help children with special needs, by giving the a head start on education.
This program can also help children living in poverty because most parent s or
guarding can not afford to pay for preschool so they resort to shows like this to
help guide them. Nevertheless, this program also can be used as a practice for the
kids that are enrolled in preschool and lack attention from someone who can review
with them. Sesame Street is a program that I would definitely encourage parents to
show their children, or that I d show my future children. Not all children learn the
same, there are seven learning styles, visual, aural,
Air Raids In The Book Thief
The air Raids were not ethical in the book thief. The air raids were constant and
came out randomly. Several days before Christmas, 1942, there s another air raid
(Zusak 442). These air raids have killed many people who might have not
supported the ideas the Nazis were fighting for. Theft is never right. The world
would be in chaos and panic if we all took what we wanted, like liesel did. For
liesel, stealing books excited her and gave the books more meaning. Although
something inside her told that this was a crime, her three books were the most
precious item she owned (Zusak 109). This shows how she loved books and even
if getting them by stealing was a crime she would still do it. Protecting a person is
never not right. At times it could be risky, but an innocent deserves being
protected. Hubermann held his hand out and presented a piece of bread, like
magic (Zusak 349). Hans did this because he thought it was the right thing to do,
which defines his character. Liesel growing up without her biological parents does
affect the way she perceives others. Liesel does not want to lose anyone else, like
she did her mother and father. Don t go, papa. Please. (Zusak 423). Hans is
someone that Liesel cannot let go and does not want to lose her parents again. Hans
is right to help out Jews, like Max because Max was in the position that he could be
saved. Max can survive by hiding with the Hubermanns. However, giving bread to
heavily guarded Jews was pointless because it

Jesus in My Life
Jesus, in my life, is so much more than one thing. My journey through life has taught
me new things about Jesus, and it began with my childhood. I grew up a Christian;
going to church every Sunday and Wednesday was and is just part of my lifestyle.
Being brought up in that environment is a blessing but also has its challenges. When
I was a little kid I thought of Jesus as just someone we talked about on Sunday, I
didn t fully understand who he was outside of the bible videos we watched and
when my mom and I prayed to Him each night. As I got older I began to really
think about this person who my teachers said died for me and loves me more than
anyone else. There was a point in my life where I really had to decide if I would
commit my life to Jesus; not because people had told me He was real, but because I
truly believed it in my heart. There is a story in Luke 18:15 16 where people began
bringing the little children and babies to Jesus. The disciples tried to turn them
away but Jesus said, Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the
Kingdom of God belongs to such as these. This story was read right before one of my
Sunday school teachers asked if any of us wanted to accept Jesus into our hearts. I
raised my hand and that is when I really began my walk with Jesus on a personal
level. This added yet another level to who Jesus is in my life. I learn lessons from

Immigrant Industrial Workers In Life Of The Iron Mills
In the story Life of the iron mills , the narrator portrays the lives of immigrant
industrial workers, in which they were exploited to the maxim. Also, the narrator
states The hands of each mill are divided into watches that relieve each other as
regularly as the sentinels of an army. By night and day the work goes on, the
unsleeping engines groan and shriek, the fiery pools of metal boil, it describes the
inhuman conditions that the workers experienced day and night, and how they were
treated like machines. On the other hand, the narrator reveals the hypocrisy of the
rich by offering opportunities to the poor, but as Kirby said: I have heard you call

Satire and Critique in Dead Soul by Nikolai Vasilievich
Gogol
A Satire for the Ages Satirical fiction, although unique and one of a kind in its nature,
has continued to be an enthralling and captivating subject out of the plethora of
themes that exist throughout literature history and thrive to this day. While the many
forms of humor that appear throughout a novel, from comical, ironic characters to
witty, exaggerated plots, are often considered tame and childish themes, authors,
skillful and clever alike, are able to utilize such forms of humor and transform them
into a means of stirring emotion within their audiences, in order to deliver logical,
yet powerful messages. For centuries, authors have used satires as devices to not
only ridicule, but to expose and criticize people s stupidity and... Show more content

But as Tchitchikov visits individual after individual, the honest picture of the hero is
slowly unveiled thus the very first message Gogol delivers is not to judge any noble
by mere appearance. Although Tchitchikov does indeed possess many great social
qualities, he uses them only to his advantage. Tchitchikov sweet talks every noble he
encounters and, whether it be by overpowering them with intellect or by playing them
with words, forces them to give him the dead souls that he desires. In addition,
Tchitchikov, throughout the account, continues to resort to immoral decisions. While
he had gained many friends of high status in the town of N, he finds himself abusing
their kindness and hospitality to try and get rich, which ultimately ruins him soon
after. A second time, while having the opportunity to settle down and earn money
honestly, he finds himself getting caught up in a scandal. Gogol very comically
criticizes how, unless deciding to change, Russian nobles, in their pride and greed,
will continue to make the same mistakes, time and time again. Another means by
which Gogol is able to present a satire of Russian life is the portrayal of women
throughout the novel. The first woman Tchitchikov encounters is Madame
Korobotcha. It can be seen that he converses with her with less decorum and

Minimum Wage or Living Wage
Minimum wage is a very controversial topic nowadays. This cartoon is symbolizing
the conflict between the two people whether the minimum wage should be raised
or not. People are always looking for a job or want to get a new job. The employer
can force people to work for a very low salary. Even though he or she can afford to
pay the employees more, they will not do it. The employer can only pay the
employees low salary because he or she wants a higher profit. People now want to
raise the minimum wage. By examining the high cost for employers, not supporting
families, and raising taxes, people will see that they do not want to raise the
minimum wage. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since people are always looking for a new job or finding a job, there is a reason for
the employer to negotiate terms of employment. The employer will try to pay the
employees as little money as he or she can. Raising the wage would hurt the low
skilled workers. It may also result in eliminating jobs. People are less likely to get
hired because entry level workers are getting paid to businesses. Raising the wage can
also let low wage workers get an education and move up to higher paying jobs.
According to Journals Resource s John Wihbey, if the wage is not raised, low paying
workers are more likely to be enrolled in a community college. They can improve
their skills and go for a higher paying job or they can go for a career. If the minimum
wage is raised, some businesses would have to cut jobs in order to pay employees
more. It can be difficult for people to find jobs. Raising the minimum wage has a lot
of negative situations for

The Key Verses And Passages That Tell Us More
Introduction Many people, especially Christians know of the book of John for its
famous verse found in chapter 3 verse 16, For God so loved the world that he gave
His only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have
eternal life (NIB, Pg.1912). But there is far more to the fourth Gospelthat gives us an
in depth culture of people known as the Johannine Community.
Thesis In order to better understand the Fourth Gospel in the Holy Scriptures, I am
going to first give a brief description of the authorship, setting, and date in which
this was said to have been written. Second, I will explain the purpose or context in
which this gospel was written. Third, I will discuss key verses and passages that tell
us more in depth about Jesus. Last and finally, I will my own questions, thoughts, and
observation of the Gospel of John. Last and finally.
Background When discussing the time period in which this piece was actually
written, it is important to understand that it was written before the epistles.
According to many scholars such as Charles H. Talbert, the book of John was
written either after or around the same time as the letters 1, 2, 3 of John (Talbert,
pg.4). According to Talbert, the text cannot be dated much later than 100 AD. There
are fragments from Chapter 18:31 33 that seem to be dated back to as early as
second century, or 125 AD (Talbert, Pg. 1917). When it comes to the authorship of
the text, it is also said to be unknown, although
Power In Macbeth Analysis
As Napoleon Bonaparte once said Power is my mistress. I have worked too hard at
her conquest to allow anyone to take her away from me . In Macbeth by
Shakespeare, power is Macbeth s mistress. He has worked too hard and waited too

help of lady Macbeth murder Duncan and Banquo after Macbeth talks to the witches
and tell him that he will be king. Wanting power can cause one to act in a violent and

Macbeth is going to kill Macduff s wife, children, and anyone who gets in his way
of gaining the title of king and power that comes with it. Macbeth is selfish and is
willing to kill another family so that his family continues to be the heir of the throne.
Those are just a few examples of how Macbeth turned to violence in order to gain
power.
Not only does Macbeth result to violence and do things he would not normally do
for power, but Lady Macbeth does the same. One example of Lady Macbeth is at
the beginning of the play when a messenger arrives and tells her that the king is on
the way to her castle. She then decides that she is going to do everything she can
get Macbeth and herself the crown. Come, you spirits that tend on mortal
thoughts, unsex me here,/ And fill me from the crown to the toe top full/ Of direst
cruelty (1.5 48 50). Lady Macbeth is willing to kill the king to get the crown. She
wants to quit being so feminine so that she can do what is necessary to get rid of
him. Lady Macbeth does not kill Duncan, the king, herself but urges Macbeth to.
Lady Macbeth makes a plan for the murder of Duncan for Macbeth to execute.

1960s Masculinity
The early 1960s were a time of change and unrest. It was a time period where the
New Americans, aka the young generation, were making changes in society. There
was this domestic ideal that women were supposed to be at home cleaning,
cooking, and taking care of children while the men would work. But during the
1960s, more women were finding jobs and eventually forty percent of workers
were women. Marriage rates were declining and divorces were increasing because
women were choosing to not be married. They were rejecting the lives of their
mothers. Men were having anxieties over masculinity. Boys began to grow out their
hair, going against the typical masculinity look. Older people saw these as a
rebellious act for going against the social... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The songs is a repeat of questions and saying that the answers have blowin in the
wind. The message behind this song and its lyrics is that many Americans have
the same questions they keep asking themselves, such as when will there be peace
and freedom among their own country and the world. For example, many
questioned when African Americans would fully gain their freedom and there be
peace between all races in America. They questioned when would there be no more
war to be peacefully. It is also saying that it is important to ask these kind of
questions and its okay to question everything. With God on Our Side, was a song
about militarism that was released in 1964. Dylan s purpose for this song was to
question the involvement that America had in several wars. At this time, many
people were against the wars and wanted peace. Bob Dylan was seen as an important
representative for a larger, new, and emerging young audience: the White supporters
of the Civil Rights movement and the post Hiroshima generation, (Capel,

Confucianism In Chin The Fall Of The Qin Dynasty
There have been many debates among Chinese historians as to the cause of the fall of
the Qin Dynasty. The Qin used force and strict rules to keep a short leash on the
people of the kingdom. However, with the precautions taken by the government, they
did not know it would ultimately be their demise. In order to contain rebellion and to
keep the people of the empire ignorant, the combination of brutality, persecutions,
antagonizing of the elites, and denying the Way, led to the short reign and ultimately
the fall of the Qin Dynasty.
In order to start at the very core of the problem with the Qin, one must look into
Confucianism. Confucius, known as Master Qiu or Our Master Kong, lived during
the Spring and Autumn Period of the Zhou Dynasty from 551 479 B.C.E. He was
born in Lu in Eastern China of low nobility, but educated. During this time, war was
imminent. He spent a time during his life traveling from state to state helping, and
became employed by rulers who shared his view and perspective of life.
Now labeled as Confucianism, his teachings and philosophies shaped the Chinese
world for thousands of years. Confucius surviving teachings are published in his
Analects. Three important conducts that Confucius associated with moral nobility
were: filial, humaneness, and ritual decorum. Filial piety is the devotion, respect for
elders and know your place within the family. A young person who is filial and
respectful of his elders rarely becomes the kind of person who is
Coriolanus Is Caesar Too Honorable
Rome is an idea for Coroiolanus, the idea of honor. [This] drives the only honorable

destruction of the man. (Rabkin 138) All of Shakespeare s tragedies depict the
protagonist s rise and fall from glory and the consequences of his actions. In The
Tragedyof Coriolanus by William Shakespeare, Caius Martius Coriolanus has one
tragic flaw, he is too honorable and too just for Rome, which leads him to become
arrogant and proud, not only on the battlefield of war, but on the political battlefield
as well. Caius Martius is portrayed as a proud arrogant man, although this stems from

(1.10.89 90), but saw him taken prisoner and requests Cominius to free him.
Cominius, out of respect says that he will find him and free him but only needs to
know the man s name. Martius sits in confusion and after sometime realizes that, he
has forgotten the poor man s name. This shows his humble thoughts but yet also his
inability to carry out these actions as we see many other times in the play. There are
certain points of humility throughout the play, including at first rejecting the gown of
humility he wears whist gaining voices for consul (which only serves to boast about
his war deeds) and when kneeling before Aufidius and offering his life up to his
greatest enemy.
Caius Martius knows the battlefield better than any other soldier in Rome, he is not
only the best athlete in Rome but the best soldier. He has brought home the oaken
garland four times in his military career, thus bring honor to his family and his
mother. A Volscian general named Aufidius is his ultimate rival whilst being his ideal
counterpart. Their fights are likened to that of erotic dances as Aufidius
Education Is An Important Part Of Society
Education was an important part of society. Since the Cold War and the Soviet
Union s successful launch of Sputnik in October of 1957, improvements of
education was necessary. In the 1960 s, John F. Kennedy developed proposals to
ensure the American education system were competitive with students all around the
world. His proposals were to ensure that every race, and religion would receive a
good education. However, not every child was receiving the same education
opportunities based on money issues surrounding them and the minority they were
classified as, the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 was to ensure that these issues
would be dissolve. On January 8th of 2002, six months and one war later after
George W. Bush first proposed the No Child Left Behind bill, it was finally passed.
Under the No Child Left Behind, every state was required to develop and implement
strict academic standards in reading and math. These standards obliged by law to
every student regardless of ethnicity, social class, or mental ability to ensure that in
twelve years, one hundred percent of students could demonstrate satisfactory skills
(Hudson 44). The law also required states to create their own test and assessments, to
be administrated to the third through eighth grade annually. The results of these tests
determined how much funding the schoolwould get. If the test scores were low, the
school would not get as much funds as a school with high test score would get.

Suspense
Suspense The Signal Man
The author of The Signal Man immediately creates suspense by using anonymous
quotes, which gives a sense of mystery. Dickens begins by avoiding using terms that
identify ownership, i.e. When he heard a voice thus calling to him .
The 2nd person in the story is the signal man, who at this point is acting in a very
peculiar manner. This produces suspicion amongst the reader and thus generates
interest or suspense.
Throughout the entire novel, Charles Dickens is using language that is very
obviously uncomfortable, i.e. Angry sunset , or Violent pulsation . The characters
are not described as very ordinary. The signal man is poor and not very
knowledgeable whereas the visitor is wealthy, ... Show more content on

The signal man s post is dark, dismal, and isolated. It is dark below, and light above.
The exit up the rock walls is slimy, slippery, and difficult to traverse.
The scene greatly resembles hell.
When the protagonist begins to approach the signal man, the signal man acts as if he
was expecting this visit. This generates anticipation within the reader.
Dickens uses repetition to great effect, causing alertness and confusion amongst the
reader, and also draws attention to particular quotes, Halloa, below there , Don t call
out .
The signal man anticipates supernatural activity by use of foreshadowing, telling the
visitor that he believes they have met in the past. At the same time, the signal man is
being rather vague, which creates suspense and encourages the reader to learn more
about the story.
Because the narrator is so vague, it causes the reader to use his or her imagination.
This connects with the reader, which in turn makes the reader feel as though he or
she is part of the story.
The reader does eventually discover the history, but not till some way into the tale.
This delay is purposely used to keep the reader in suspense. A great notice should be
made to the rational character. In most tales involving the supernatural, there will
always be an entity that has rational explanations for everything. This seems to ruin
the atmosphere by spoiling the mystery. However, in most tales involving

Examples Of In-Depth Interview
To answer my research question, I chose semi structured in depth interviews because
it particularly lends itself to exploring challenging and complex life situations such as
the return to work following parental leave. According to Valerie Yow, the recorded
in depth interview can offer answers to questions that no other methodology can
provide (Yow 2005, 9). In her introductory chapter on in depth interviewing, Yow
specifically mentions complex decisions as a case where in depth interviews allow us
to pose questions that remain invisible in statistics and official records. Thus, while
the OECD family database statistics might provide us with useful information about
Hungarian mothers decisions concerning employment, in my research I would like to
ask women to explain the various and differing factors contributing to these choices.

data needed to be migrated to new storage, they needed an expert team. The
Challenge NYC s 911 system was on an aging archive storage system that was
reaching end of support. The legacy equipment was experiencing numerous technical
challenges and faced rapidly increasing support costs. The archive data had also
grown exponentially, and there were multiple different conflicting data retention
policies in place. There was a tremendous amount of data, a rolling retention period,
as well as numerous reports and explanations that had to be provided to the different
stakeholders before the work even started, stated Vincent Guadagno, director of NYC

Interlock wrote a custom program to parse through the data, saving the critical files
for legal holds and required retention, while deleting superfluous files. With
traditional software, a migration company would not be able to parse the data as it
is in a separate que. But, Interlock s custom program ran the data through data
analysis, and parsed the files individually to meet the highly nuanced requirements of
NYC 911 s retention and legal hold policies. While parsing the data, Interlock also
helped NYC 911 define and implement data retention policies that decreased the
quantity of files by almost 50%, leading to lower storage and maintenance
Genetic Discrimination In Australia
only lead to discrimination with insurance coverage but also with employers. Once
the genetic information is part of the individual s medical record, it may then be
accessed by others. Cases of employers having used genetic information as part of
the selection process have been found in Australia. Genetic discrimination has even
been detected in the armed forces where a young man was asked to provide
documentation that showed he was not predisposed to Marfan syndrome, of which
he had a family history. Genetic discrimination is probably the biggest concern for
individuals when it comes to the cause and effects of genetic testing upon society.
Some of this concern roots from the extreme examples of world leaders and prevalent
scientists in the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the genetic information is only accessible to the individual then there is a
decreased chance of such discrimination occurring because the information is
disclosed to who the individual wishes to. Genetic information can raise questions
about personal responsibility, personal choice versus genetic determinism, and
concepts of health and disease. Personal factors, family values, and community and
cultural beliefs can mould the reactions to these issues. For example the response to
the genetic information and suggestion from physicians after the test will be
drastically different in a society where traditions and religion determine life choices,
such as India, than to a more individually liberal society like the USA. Even in a
progressive society that has had specific ethnic groups for multiple generations
disparities with medical technology are common. A study conducted, using the
national representative data, in the USA with the sample that consisted of 1724 men
and women of non Hispanic whites, Latinos, and African American background.
Results exposed significant differences by racial/ethnic groups in knowledge and
concerns about the potential misuse of genetic testing. Significantly higher levels of
mistrust in a physician and the medical system was a common thread within
minorities. The genetic tests can be a way of ridding anxiety attached to the
assumed inheritance of genetic disease due to family background whilst for others
the genetic test reveals their reality. The results can have a great deal of a
psychological impact upon the individual. The possibility of developing a genetic
disease alone can create anxiety within some. The psychological impact from the
results revealed is another issue that society is concerned about. A
Marfan s Syndrome Essay
Marfan s syndrome is a rare hereditary disorder of the body s connective tissue. The
phenotypic traits include being tall, abnormally long stretched limbs and in the
most severe cases the aorta can be prone to rupture and retinal detachment can
occur [1]. Seventy five percent of cases for this multisystem disorder are genetic
and inherited in an autosomal dominant fashion (a child can inherit it from just one
parent): 25% are sporadic where neither parent has the syndrome [2]. Its prevalence
is 1/5000 and of these affected individuals each has a 50% chance of passing on the
mutated gene to their offspring [3]. Marfan s syndrome is caused by mutations in
the fibrillin 1 gene (FBN1) located on chromosome 15q21.1 [4]. Fibrillin is a large
glycoprotein... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Two thirds (approximately 66%) of Marfan s syndrome sufferers experience
problems in the cardiovascular system and have mitral valve prolapse; where blood
may flow back from the ventricles into the atrium in a process called mitral valve
regurgitation. This may require valve repair or valve replacement. If cardiac
arrhythmias occurs where the heartbeat becomes irregular there is the risk of sudden
death [2]. Thoracic aortic aneurysm is also prevalent in Marfan s syndrome sufferers.
This is a condition caused by the widening of the aorta due to weakness in the walls
of the vessel. Aneurysm can lead to rupture itself or to aortic dissection where the
aorta wall tears thus allowing blood to flow between the layers of the blood vessel
walls. It can result in rupture or in a decrease in blood flow to the organs. This
situation is very dangerous and is most likely to require heart surgery or aortic
replacement
A Research Study On Human Genetics
While some outside of the university setting think researchers within academia do not
work, that could not be farther from the truth. After following Ryan Hernandez, PhD,
weekly duties, we saw that his responsibilities are anything but few.
From family man to professor to researcher, he somehow manages to lead his
laboratory of seven people in their study of genetic variation. He also takes on
additional tasks that are outside his job responsibilities, like serving on several
committees.

By understanding what has been done and the holes in our knowledge, we can make
steps to identify ways to fill in those gaps.
The rest of Hernandez s week is filled with joint lab meetings with two other labs that
have similar lines of research that feature a presentation of one researcher s work
and a discussion of possible next steps. These meetings take place on Mondays and
last 1.5 hours. Additionally, each year Hernandez teaches for one quarter. This year
he is teaching during the winter quarter and is in the classroom for twice a week, for
a total of three hours per week.
The most enjoyable part of teaching is interacting with students, Hernandez said. I
also mentor some students and post doctoral researchers by helping them develop
scientific maturity in their career development.
Two of the past students that Hernandez taught have completed their PhD s. One now
works in the industry for a startup, and the other is completing their post doctoral
fellowship at Stanford University.
Hernandez is also graduate advisor for the Biological and Medical Informatics
Graduate Program (BMI) and a co primary investigator for the Initiative for

Faulty Components Detected During Construction Cost
6 15% of construction cost is found to be wasted due to rework of defective
components detected late during construction and 5% of construction cost is wasted
due to rework of defective components detected during maintenance.[i] Within the
current drywall processes, we have found multiple operational issues which may be
leading to increased quality problems and project costs. Some of the areas that need
to be addressed are forecasting, process flow, and inventorymanagementand supply
chain problems.
The current quality issues within the drywall processes are having a direct impact
on the estimator s ability to forecast the inventory needs for the projects as well as
overall cost of the work. The re work necessary to address the quality concerns of
the customers is having a direct impact on the ability to forecast the amount of
supplies (drywall sheets, screws, etc.), labor, and process time needed to complete
the job. The uncertain demand created by the need for rework is having a direct
impact on the cost efficiency and an increase of forecasting errors by the estimators.
In addition to the forecasting issues there are operational issues throughout the
drywall process that are of concern. During the process there is a bottleneck of up
to 24 hours where the workers need to wait for the joint compound to dry. This
wait time creates a flow stoppage for the entire process and may need to be addressed
to help improve the time and cost efficiency of the drywall process. It
A Study On Childhood Cancer
Background
A study was conducted in Sierra Vista, Arizona and Churchill County, Nevada
concerning an increase in childhood cancer cases between the age of 0.8 and 12.8
years old.
Between the two locations, 14 children with Leukemia were chosen to take place in
this study.
The children were compared based off of demographics, urinary and blood levels
(metals,
tungsten, pesticides, etc.) as well as location of residence compared to the rest of the
U.S.
Population. Variables were used in the determination of whether or not environmental
exposure
was the cause of the increase in cancer related cases among children and to determine
if this was
indeed a cancer cluster. The results indicated that these findings were not a cancer
cluster, but
yet individual cancer cases.
Discussion
The statistical test that was done for table 3 was the geometric mean in order to
compare
the three groups. This type of test takes the average of a set of numbers. It is derived
by taking
the nth root of the product of n numbers. The geometric means of urinary levels of
tungsten in
Sierra Vista, AZ and Churchill County, NV were compared with the levels in the U.S.
population. The test determined that only 20% of the children in AZ had higher
levels of
tungsten and about half had levels below the national average. The data for Sierra
Vista and
Churchill County are not statistically significant; however, the data for the U.S.
Population is

Requirements Management Process Area ( Reqm )
Briefly describe the purpose and objectives of the Requirements Management process
area (REQM)
The purpose of Requirements Management is to manage a projects requirements of
its products and components. It also is used to align the requirements and project
plans.
Specific goals of the process area are based around understanding the requirements,
obtaining commitment to them, making changes to them as they evolve, keeping
traceability to the products and making sure the plans and products are aligned to
requirements. The organisation must understand what the requirements are in order
to fulfil them, as any confusion or misplaced requirements can spell disaster later in
the project. They must be aware of what they are setting out to complete.
Requirements should be clearly stated and complete, while being possible for the
organisation to carry out. After the requirements are understood, commitment needs
to be made with whomever provided the requirements. Requirements can be changed
as the project goes on, but wherever possible a firm commitment should be sought so
that the organisation can have some more predictability on what they are setting out
to do. If changes are necessary, either due to the needs of the customer or the
restrictions of the process, the changes must be carefully documented and added to a
change history. This is to ensure that the change is fully understood to both the
organisation and the customer. If a change is to be made, it should be done correctly
The Application Of Pedagogical Principles
Analyse the application of pedagogical principles in own area of specialism
Pedagogy is a word that is used to describe the art and science of teaching.
Pedagogical roles are the many and varied that a teacher may perform while teaching,
such as structuring, soliciting, responding and reacting. Other roles involve assessing,
criticising, discussing, encouraging, enquiring, evaluating, explain, giving individual
instruction, lecturing, organising, presenting, questioning and answering, repeating
and reviewing and team teaching and tutoring etc.
(L.Walklin 2000; pg 175)
In my own specialist area (Maths) I used pedagogic technologies like Power points
for delivering the sessions, and for messages I would use E mail, SMS and Twitter.
For assignments I would prefer my students to use Digital library, E books, Websites
and Newsfeeds. Sometimes I give tasks like Statistical analysis, Data analysis,
Spreadsheet, and Search engine to my learners to do independent work on computers.
I also do Computer based assessment tools e.g. multiple choice questions and quizzes.
I also involve my students to design their own Maths posters on specific topics using
computer design tools e.g. Presentation tools and Multimedia presentation.

The Importance of Nutrition and Sleeping Habits In The Classroom
Having good nutrition and sleeping habits is very important for education. It is
important for children and adolescents to perform well in the classroom so that they
get the most out of their education. Having poor sleeping habits or poor eating habits
can have many harmful effects on a child s classroom performance. If children have
good eating habits as well as good sleeping habits they will perform better and be
able to live up to their potential.
Good nutrition is very important for children in all areas of their life but it is a key
factor in how they perform in the classroom. One study showed that taller more

School meals are now being made healthier so that children can practice good
nutrition skills.
Children of all socioeconomic levels are at risk for poor nutrition. Some children
do not get enough to eat each day because their families lack money to buy
sufficient food. Other children consume enough food but have diets high in fat,
sugar, and sodium that put them at risk for obesity or heart disease and other
chronic illnesses ( ). These poor diets can harm a child s classroom performance and
impede their learning ability. Poor nutrition among children in America is on the rise.
This is due, in part, to poor eating habits like skipping meals, overeating, working
parents eating on the run, and fast food establishments ( ). These factors not only
cause a child health problems but also impedes their learning. If a child cannot use his
cognitive abilities to the fullest it will be harder to learn, participate in class, and
function properly throughout the day. Inadequate nutrition affects the long term
development of the child ( ). This could be detrimental to a child all the way into
adulthood. Poor eating habits could persist into college and then hinder them from
being as productive as they could

Waiting For The Locksmith At Two On A Monday
Afternoon Poem
Poetry Critique: Waiting for the Locksmith at Two on a Monday Afternoon The
poem Waiting for the Locksmith at Two on a Monday Afternoon talks about the
insecurities and shames that people tend to hide or lock within themselves.
Barring one line, the poem does an excellent job in conveying its theme through its
consistent usage of images. The vividness of said images and figures of speech
also add to the overall effect and appeal of the poem. First, the poem is consistent
when it comes to its usage of images. The poem repeatedly makes use of locked
rooms in order to take a peek at the inner mechanisms of the mind. Each locked room

Edgar Samar. It follows the story of Janus Silang as his entire life is dismantled by
the revelation that the monsters from Philippine folklore are real and are hunting
him down. This book has managed to rekindle my love of Philippine literature and
I wholly recommend reading this. The book manages to hook its readers through
the realistic and well written characters, the extensive and immersive world
building, and the entertaining and heartbreaking writing style of the author. First,
the book is full of realistic and well written characters. Janus Silang, the character,
is written as a normal teenager and can be related and sympathized with easily.
However, by the end of the book Janus manages to undergo so much growth and
development that he s practically a different person from the Janus we met in
Chapter 1. From the way he talks, thinks, and acts, one can see how much he s
changed from the start of the book, and yet these changes felt natural with the way
the story was written. Even the minor characters, such as Janus s parents, his love
interest, and his sister, gain some form of development; not enough to overshadow
and bog down the plot, but just enough to flesh out and get a feel for their character.
All the characters feel real and natural, and it makes it easy to form attachments to
them, which allows for
Strategic Planning, Learning Theory, and Training Needs...
The five phases of the training process model include; Needs Analysis Phase;
Design Phase; Development Phase; Implementation Phase, and the Evaluation Phase.
The Needs Analysis Phase is to determine each employee s needs and ask What do
we want our employees to get out of the program? This phase will help identify the
difference between comparing the company s current results to the company s
expected organizational performances. The performance gap is one way to figure out
what is best needed in the training process of the company. Our text states that the

Our text explains that the cognitive approach suggests that the learner controls
learning, and they may come to training with their own set of goals and priorities.
Whereas the behaviorist come to training with a specific goal and believe the
environment controls the learning outcome. (Blanchard / Thacker, 2010) The two
definitely are different in ways, but behavioral and cognitive approaches are being
used in the same multimedia application. Both involve analysis, decomposition, and
simplification of tasks in order to make instruction easier and more efficient
(Jonassen, 1991). Both use devices to arouse, attract, and focus attention. Both force
learner engagement through interactive decision making points in the material.
Both give importance to intrinsic feedback, though it may be expressed in
voluntary help or advice options in applications with cognitive design. Both value
meaningful learning and realistic contexts for application of knowledge and skills
(Atkins, 1993). It is my opinion both are equally relevant to the training programs,
depending on which approach one wants to take. Fully explain the purpose of a
training needs analysis (TNA). Argue the conditions under which a TNA is always
necessary, and offer two examples when a TNA might not be required. The purpose

Literature Review On Physical Activity
The purpose of this literature review is to summarize current research regarding
physical activity and its effects on Alzheimer Disease (AD). Alzheimer s is a
disease that causes a decline in memory and cognitive abilities. It is estimated that
the number of people living with Alzheimer s will rise to 115.4 million people by
2050 (Cyarto et al., 2010). Much research is trying to find an end to Alzheimer
Disease, but has resulted in no cure as of yet. Alzheimer s impacts many people and
exercise could potentially be a wonderful tool to help decrease symptoms and
decrease rates. The following literature review provides 10 study results and an
overview of the affects exercise has on patients with Alzheimer s.
The first study by Cyarto et al. (2010) obtained 230 community participants who had
been diagnosed with Alzheimer Disease to participate in their study. The participants
were obtained through local physicians, memory clinics, specialists and advertising
flyers. These participants were randomly assigned to a moderate physical activity
group or a sedentary group. The study was 24 weeks long and included questionnaires
to help document the results. Results determined that the non exercise group had
higher scores on the Alzheimer disease Assessment scale, which indicates decreased
cognitive function. A study done by Morris et al. (2017) also obtained participants
through public advertisements, community talks, physicians and various databases.
Unlike the previous study, this
Qualitative And Quantitative Research Design
Research and Program Evaluation
This paper will compare and contrast qualitative and quantitative research designs.
While giving the information, I will also elaborate on the types of research designs
that they both implore. At the end of the paper, the reader will have a better
understanding for qualitative and quantitative research designs and when to use each
type of design.
Qualitative Research Design
Cresswell (2014) states qualitative methods rely on text and image data, have
unique steps in data analysis, and draw on diverse designs (p. 183). Qualitative
research design is a research method used by researchers studying human behaviors
and habits. For example, a counselor generating some ideas for a new inclusion
program might want to study people s behaviors and preferences, to make sure that
the inclusion program might become feasible. Quick and Hall (2011) state The
principal of informed consent ensures that research participants are not coerced or
persuaded into research and that each individual fully understands the implications or
participating (p. 2). This way the individual will know what is going to happen during
the research. A researcher will then use data collection procedures with qualitative
research. Qualitative observation is when the researcher will take field notes about
individuals and their behaviors. Qualitative interviews are the interviews that the
researcher conducts with the participants. The interviews can be face to face, on the
Assessment Of Bod, Cod As Organic Pollution Indicator...
ASSESSMENT OF BOD, COD AS ORGANIC POLLUTION INDICATOR
LEVELS OF VARHALA LAKE ABSTRACT Lakes are of great importance both
from the natural and economic point of view. Lake water is a source of drinking
and domestic water supply for people living in and around the area. The present
study was conducted to assess the organic pollution indicators like BOD, COD
and DO. The sampling of water was based on human and aquatic activities around
the lake. Water from five sampling stations of Varhala Lake was monitored for
seasonal variations from May 2011 to April 2012. The BOD was positively
correlated with COD of 0.609, as both are the products of oxidation. The
correlation between DO and BOD, gave a negative relationship of 0.517 between
two variables. Keywords: Water quality monitoring; pollution indicators; Varhala
Lake INTRODUCTION Most of our water resources are gradually becoming
polluted due to the addition of foreign materials from the surroundings. Rapid
urbanization and industrialization has put a lot of pressure on the existing water
bodies (Waziri et al., 2009; Sawant and Telave, 2009). Anthropogenic development
and changes around lakes affects their ecosystems (Mouri, G et al 2011). Lakes
have a complex and fragile ecosystem, as they do not have a self cleaning ability and
therefore readily accumulate pollutants (Abida et al 2008; J.C Akan et al 2012).
Continuous water quality monitoring is essential for efficient management of lakes
and for control of pollution. It is

Abnormal Behavior Essays
Abnormal behavior was once viewed as an embarrassment to society. Those who
suffered from a mental illness or displayed abnormal behavior were locked away
and never spoken of. Today abnormal behavior is viewed much differently. With the
study of psychology and the help of the medical field, abnormal behavior has
become better understood. This essay will discuss the major theories for the cause
of abnormal behavior, how abnormal behavior is diagnosed and what type of
behavioral issues are related to abnormal behavior. Abnormal behavior is defined as a
psychological dysfunction within an individual associated with distress or
impairment in functioning and response that is not typical or culturally expected
(Durand, 2005). There are... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It appears, however, that one single gene is not solely responsible for a particular
behavior. Instead it seems to take many genes that are combined together to produce
both functional and dysfunctional behaviors. The second perspective is the
psychodynamic perspective. The psychodynamic perspective emphasizes how the
role of early childhood experiences, the unconscious mind and interpersonal
relationships play a part in abnormal behavior. This perspective evolved from
Sigmund Freud s psychoanalytical theory which generally contended that
psychological disorders are the outcome of anxiety which is produced by
unresolved, unconscious conflicts. The third perspective is the behavioral
perspective. The basis of the behavioral perspective suggests that all behaviors are
learned. This perspective was developed partially because some psychologists did
not agree with Freud s ideas. Many of these psychologists believed that Freud s
theory could be explained much more simplistically. This is why the behavioral
perspective asserts that human beings behave according to the dictates of their
environment (Sarason Sarason, 2005). Another perspective is the cognitive
perspective. This perspective is similar to the psychodynamic perspective because it
is also concerned with the internal processes. The cognitive perspective examines
Essay on Salutary Neglect
Salutary Neglect Frederick Turner said, that frontier has gone, and with its going
has closed the first period of American history. Continental America had been settled
by the turn of the century. Some say it is time for America to have a new frontier
and that it might be found overseas. During the turn of the century, the United States
become very involved in the affairs of the world. The United States would annex
Hawaii and control the Philippines after the Spanish American War. They would
also build a canal in Panama to connect the Pacific and Atlantic Ocean. These actions
caused many people overseas to call the United States imperialistic and to fear what
it might do next? During the 1890 s, Hawaii was in an economic depression... Show

Though after the Spanish American War, Hawaii was able to gain attention as
expansionists envisioned ships sailing from the eastern seaboard through a Central
American canal to Hawaii and then on to China. It took President McKinley to
successfully maneuvered annexation through Congress by means of a majority
vote. Cuba was also played a part in American foreign affairs during the turn of the
century. After the United States imposed the Wilson German Tariff, Cuba,
depending on imports heavily, fell in to a deep economic crisis. This caused the
Cubans to launch a revolution in 1895. Though the Spanish government did
provide modified reconcentration and promised some autonomy for Cuba.
President McKinley was a known imperialist that wanted independence of Cuba
achieved without an U.S. war if possible. Though the revolution seemed to have no
end, so the U.S. set the battleship Maine to demonstrate U.S. concern and protection
for Americans in Cuba. After its explosion, the U.S. declared war on Spain. The
U.S. forces would quickly defeat the Spanish in Cuba and also in the Philippines.
The U.S. took the Philippines saying that it was a Spanish colony even though the
war was going on in another hemisphere. There were also other incidences in other
parts of the world. The U.S. asked China to keep an Open Door policy. This meant
that China had to respect the principle of equal trade opportunity for all nations in
their spheres of influence. This caused the Boxers to hold
Social Class Differences In American Culture
In American culture, most parents would say that they are doing a satisfactory job at
raising their children; yet, each family raise their children so differently. The
differences are clearly seen when compared by class.
In the upper classes (high class to upper middle class), children are given hundreds of
learning opportunities and are taught to value education at a much earlier age. They
are put into expensive day cares that require competitive applications, after school art
and sport programs, and enrichment clubs that ensure they are building a foundation
that will prepare them for success. These enriching opportunities are only feasible
because parents from the upper class have the money and the time to pour into their
children, which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ascribed position is defined as an assignment to a group by a charismatic that can
not be changed or is defined at birth, such as race or gender, whereas ascribed is

standing can be placed int eh ascribed category as it is a cultural standings that
children are born into and can affect their life chances and opportunities. Therefore, it
is socially interesting how the differing child rearing techniques, which are influenced
by cultural values are manifesting and influencing the children s later achieved
statuses. The lower classes lack of enrichment practices may lead children to follow a
certain political party more than another one, or prevent an social mobility into
another economic class. Comparatively, the upper classes early pressure of the

Piaget s Theory Of Cognitive Ability
Welcome to the exciting and adventurous camp of Cognitive Ability, where we
challenge and cherish the precious minds of babies and teens through our fun
activities of psychology through Piaget s theory of cognitive ability. Piaget s
theory of cognitive ability was designed to distinguish the age at which a child s
cognitive ability was developed through the stages in which he classified as
sensorimotor, preoperational, concrete operational and formal operational (Lutz
Huitt, 2004). The goal of the camp is to define how children learn, remember, pay
attention, and problem solve through each child s development pace by a series of
educational activities for all to enjoy. The sensorimotor stage activities will consist
primarily of age s birth to about two years. The child will be given a choice of toys
to play with such as stuffed animals, building blocks or a rattle. Each toy will either
produce a sound. During the main activity, one of the instructors will give the child
the rattle to play with by first showing the rattle to the baby and then shaking the
rattle. As the baby looks at the rattle they will be startled or surprised by the sound
and wonder why and where it came from. The instructor will then give the rattler to
the baby and then they will shake it. The baby will gradually understand they are
causing the sound, therefore motor skills and sensory perceptions are established. In
the sensorimotor stage, infants will realize that their actions through sense and

Argumentative Essay On Homeless People
Regarding a homeless individual, there are many definitions as to what that pertains.
These individuals lack proper housing as their means of housing they are unstable or
nonpermanent. An individual who lacks a regular, permanent and satisfactory night
time residence is seen as a homeless person. Homelessness has been an issue in
America for hundreds of years. The displacement of individuals is caused by a
variety of reasons. Veterans, mentally ill, economic suffering individuals,
unemployed, family issues, incarcerated, and drug/ alcohol abuse are among the
many causes of homelessness. A large percentage of the homeless population exists in
New York City. Although there have been 34 States seeing decreases in
homelessness, New York is one of the sixteen states that have seen increases.
Children, and even those with job are experiencing homelessness but new plans
have emerged in this infamous city to conquer this issue. During the 2015 2016
school year, there was 100,000 homeless students in the New York City public
school system. This is a number equal to the population of Albany (Harris, 2017).
According to the city, the definition of a homeless individual includes someone in
temporary housing at some point during the school year. If no new plan is
implemented 1 in 7 New York City public school children will be homeless at one
point during elementary school. That is about two to three children per classroom.
There is a growing number of homeless children and among the
Statement Of Purpose For Journalism
Ezra Pound once said that literature is news that stays news. For me, literature is the
very essence of the enduring power of any great work of art. In journalism industry, it
plays an important and fundamental role in news reporting and communication. I
deem literature is the art that uses language as a media, depicting information about
humanity and ways of living. Journalism, flourished by the news that is constantly
changing around this globe, is an ultra competitive modern media market that needs
versatile, multimedia journalists with cutting edge academic and vocational skills, to
influence people and the world. My parents came from little so that made a choice to
give a lot. They care much about my education, more than I do. My father... Show

The Pros And Cons Of Enforcing Traffic Laws
The most prevalent form of transportation in the United States is by far the
automobile. With so many vehicles on the road, effectively enforcing traffic laws is
becoming more and more complex. The cost of reckless driving is astronomically
high, both physically and financially. In 2007, the National Highway Traffic Safety
Administration estimated that speeding related crashes cost society a staggering
$40.4 billion per year, and speed was a major contributing factor in at least thirty one
percent of all fatal crashes (citation needed). Most drivers can agree that the United
Statesneeds to enforce speed laws because all drivers deserve to commute on safe
roads. As technology advances, so do the methods for enforcing traffic laws. One of
the newest methods of speed enforcement popping up all over the country is the use of

As of November 2011, a total of sixteen states and thirty three cities have outlawed
the use of photo enforcement tickets. These state and local governments have
banned the use of photo enforcement because they do not protect citizens and in
some instances, they actually violate citizens rights. An example of this is how
photo enforcement tickets violate the Fifth Amendment because they do not offer
the legal due process. Upon receiving a photo enforcement ticket, drivers must pay
a fine or risk seizure of assets. There is no opportunity for the driver to face their
accuser, or to plead their case. Furthermore, in many states, either a sworn law
enforcement officer, or a process server must present a speeding citation to the
offender. Until a ticket is officially presented by one of these two people, it is
merely a request to pay the prescribed fine. Additionally, whenever a citation is
issued, it is sent to the registered owner of the vehicle, not necessarily the person who
was driving that vehicle at the time the photo was

He repeatedly makes offers to Pat Gillick in the weeks of negotiation without getting
close to a trade . He also in exchange says he will trade some of his players such as
Cameron.
December 9th , GM of Reds publicly announced he will take over contract of
Griffey, bring him home as he completed a month of negotiations with the Seattle
Mariners GM just to bring Griffey on the team and trade a few other players from
Cincinnati Reds to Seattle Mariners. For the contract negotiation communication is
the link that was used to negotiate the issue/argument whether it is face to face offer ,
on the telephone or in writing. The type of negotiation in the case was not just
between two people. Each offer involved several members from both parties, the
Seattle Mariners and Cincinnati Reds.
Offer 1 : Pat Gillick asked for Reese and then trade Griffey to Bowden to Reds team
offer was denied.
Offer 2 : Mariners president and COO , Armstrong asked Goldberg to trade Griffey
for NY Mets. Griffey did not agree and turned down the offer. This is because the
agreement is not being directed to a certain compromise and both parties are looking
for a different outcome.
Offer 3 : Reds has 72 hours to workout a deal with Griffey and Goldberg. Griffey was
finally traded to Cincinnati Reds and Bowden has worked for this deal and seen the
deal through as of Monday February 7th , being GM
Arnold s Philosophy on Bodybuilding
Just about everyone who walks the face of the earth has heard of the legendary
Arnold Schwarzenegger. The man is an inspiration to millions of men around the
world, both in success and fitness. Even though times have changed, today s
bodybuilders are far bigger than in Arnold s time, we can still learn a lot from the
man that brought bodybuildingto the masses. In his novel, Arnold: The Education of
a Bodybuilder, he thoroughly describes his philosophies and gives the reader insight
on how to become just like him by following simple workout routines. Arnold s
approach to bodybuilding was more mental than physical. For him, it was, and still is,
all or nothing. While competing, he did not go through the motions; he worked out to

Arnold understands that the word body building implies that we are undertaking
something constructive. Exercise merely tones and develops existing muscles. In
order to build muscles we must have the nutrients that promote growth
(Shwarzenegger, 2005, p. 152).
In fact, eating is at the core of his bodybuilding principles. Many come to him
asking what the best way to gain weight is and he replies by stating it is nutrition
along with intensive training. Bulking up is a sure way of gaining mass, but by
simply keeping fat content low and recording what you consumer in a food log, one
can gain, according to him, twelve pounds of pure muscle mass each year until they
reach their body size limit. Most all of the body building philosophies that Arnold
puts forth in his novel seem truthful and in fact are very convincing. Many of these,
however, are hard to believe, especially coming from an individual who has found
the perfect physique by using illegal supplements. Success in body building is usually
related to genetics. Sure, you have got to train and you have got to eat, but the best
training and eating program still will not turn the local gym bum into Arnold
Schwarzenegger. The only way to be Arnold is to have his parents, and even then
there is a high probability that the person still will not grow up to look like Arnold.
Genetics dictate your height, bone structure, muscle cell numbers, and fat
Technical And Administrative Vulnerabilities
Vulnerability
The United States critical infrastructures normally utilize both private and public
networks. Public network risks are well known; however, private networks can be
just as vulnerable. Many people believe they are safe by using private networks;
however, the number of vulnerabilities is increasing quickly. Despite the increasing
risks, the United States critical infrastructures require a high level of expertise in
order to exploit due to their highly customized control systems.
There are two types of vulnerabilities we face at our company today, technical and
administrative vulnerabilities. Technical vulnerabilities consist of improper

Language Learners Perception Of Peer Correction
Language Learners Perception of Peer Correction
Abstract The recent approaches and methods of language teaching emphasize learners
active participation in language learning and learners center teaching. So, nowadays
peer correction has attracted the attention of many teachers. This study investigated
learners perception about peer correction. For my research I chose a qualitative
approach of grounded theory. Based on theoretical sampling procedures of Grounded
theory sixteen ESL learners were sampled to uncover their perception and opinions of
peer correction through open ended interview. The coding scheme of the Grounded
theory yielded three sets of categories: the first and second includes advantages and ...

Peer correction has always taken as an effective way of improving students
involvement. However, students perception for peer correction has never been taken
into account. This study examines students perception for peer correction to see
whether it helps them in the process of language learning or not.
Literature review
Theoretical Background Making mistakes is inevitable for the language learners
who are trying to communicate in target language. Krashen (1982) argues,
corrective feedback may be useless if learners are not ready to learn. Corder
(1967) and Selinker (1972) considered errors as a part of the learners interlanguage
and an evidence of progress. On the other hand, if the teachers don t correct learner s
errors in the classroom, may the other students of the class consider them as a correct
form and it could lead to fossilization.
Behaviorists consider errors as a sign of failure and believe that teachers should
correct learner s errors immediately. In contrast to Behaviorism is Mentalism.
According to Chomsky, Language learning is a process involving active mental
processes and the learner is forming and testing hypotheses during the process of
learning. So errors are taken as a necessary part of learning process. Contrastive
Analysis (CA) is a mechanism that Structural linguists introduced. CA helps language
teachers to deal with learners errors. CA states that with comparison
Global Warming And The Greenhouse Effect
Global warming is the increase in the average surface temperature of the Earth due
to the effect of the buildup of greenhouse gases, due to deforestation and burning
fossil fuels which causes the heat to be trapped that would otherwise escape from
the earth. To understand global warming, you need to understand the greenhouse
effect. The greenhouse effect is actually essential for life on earth to exist as it
allows the planet to remain warm enough to sustain life. For example if we
consider for moment a simplistic comparison of a car parked in the sun. The rays
of the sun enter the car through the windows and some of the heat is absorbed by
items inside the car (seats, dashboard etc). These objects will in turn begin to
release heat and some of this heat escapes back through the windows but some of
the heat is reflected back into the car. The result is that more heat enters the car
than is able to escape it and the interior of the car warms up. So if you think of the
earth s atmosphere as the car s interior. The landscape and structures on earth can be
seen as the cars seats and dashboard. The role of the cars windows is played by
certain things within the earth s atmosphere such as carbon dioxide, methanegas and
water vapour which absorb the heat reflected by the earth below. These are known as
greenhouse gasses.
When there are more greenhouse gasses present in the atmosphere, more heat can be
retained leading to a rise in the temperature of our planet. This is what I

The formation of Islamic and Western law has similar types of foundation structures that have supported what it is today. There are also many different ways people can interpret Shariah and apply it to modern society. Although there are strong influences that hinder the practice of Islamic law, abandoning the law is not the best solution to countries in turmoil. Islamic Law The formation of Islamic law is thought to have been started after the first three generations of Prophet Muhammad s death in 632 AD. After Muhammad s death, the Islamic community was faced with confusion and constitutional crisis. Mohammad s predecessor, Abu Bakr, assumed the role of caliph, but only ruled for two years due to an assassination. His main focus was to bring the tribes back to Islam that had broke ties to Islam and Mohamad after his death. Succeeding Bakr s reign was another companion of the prophet named Umar and under his caliphate expanded Islam at an unprecedented rate. The rapid expansion of territory unified the Arab culture, Islamic religion, and political aspects. This melting pot of private individuals brought legal concepts, and institutions that were familiar to the native cultures to help develop Islamic Law, or jurist law. The jurists could come together to implement a common law, since problems that were the same in nature, but located differently geographically, often had different

On my behalf, it is helpful from my experiences working in an afterschool program. Their goals, include teaching letters and numbers, increasing vocabulary, and teaching preliterate skills. Which, is everything that they provide by watching the show, it s more than entertainment. In addition, since the program is also a nonprofit educational organization, their purpose is outstanding and shows how much they care about helping the future. • 6. Air Raids In The Book Thief The air Raids were not ethical in the book thief. The air raids were constant and came out randomly. Several days before Christmas, 1942, there s another air raid (Zusak 442). These air raids have killed many people who might have not supported the ideas the Nazis were fighting for. Theft is never right. The world would be in chaos and panic if we all took what we wanted, like liesel did. For liesel, stealing books excited her and gave the books more meaning. Although something inside her told that this was a crime, her three books were the most precious item she owned (Zusak 109). This shows how she loved books and even if getting them by stealing was a crime she would still do it. Protecting a person is never not right. At times it could be risky, but an innocent deserves being protected. Hubermann held his hand out and presented a piece of bread, like magic (Zusak 349). Hans did this because he thought it was the right thing to do, which defines his character. Liesel growing up without her biological parents does affect the way she perceives others. Liesel does not want to lose anyone else, like she did her mother and father. Don t go, papa. Please. (Zusak 423). Hans is someone that Liesel cannot let go and does not want to lose her parents again. Hans is right to help out Jews, like Max because Max was in the position that he could be saved. Max can survive by hiding with the Hubermanns. However, giving bread to heavily guarded Jews was pointless because it
  • 7. My Journey Through Life Is So Much More Than One Thing Calissa Blodgett Mrs. Melendrez Religion, Block D 4 December 2014 Jesus in My Life Jesus, in my life, is so much more than one thing. My journey through life has taught me new things about Jesus, and it began with my childhood. I grew up a Christian; going to church every Sunday and Wednesday was and is just part of my lifestyle. Being brought up in that environment is a blessing but also has its challenges. When I was a little kid I thought of Jesus as just someone we talked about on Sunday, I didn t fully understand who he was outside of the bible videos we watched and when my mom and I prayed to Him each night. As I got older I began to really think about this person who my teachers said died for me and loves me more than anyone else. There was a point in my life where I really had to decide if I would commit my life to Jesus; not because people had told me He was real, but because I truly believed it in my heart. There is a story in Luke 18:15 16 where people began bringing the little children and babies to Jesus. The disciples tried to turn them away but Jesus said, Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these. This story was read right before one of my Sunday school teachers asked if any of us wanted to accept Jesus into our hearts. I raised my hand and that is when I really began my walk with Jesus on a personal level. This added yet another level to who Jesus is in my life. I learn lessons from Him every day

Immigrant Industrial Workers In Life Of The Iron Mills In the story Life of the iron mills , the narrator portrays the lives of immigrant industrial workers, in which they were exploited to the maxim. Also, the narrator states The hands of each mill are divided into watches that relieve each other as regularly as the sentinels of an army. By night and day the work goes on, the unsleeping engines groan and shriek, the fiery pools of metal boil, it describes the inhuman conditions that the workers experienced day and night, and how they were treated like machines. On the other hand, the narrator reveals the hypocrisy of the rich by offering opportunities to the poor, but as Kirby said: I have heard you call our American system a ladder which any man can scale. Do you doubt it? Or perhaps you
  • 9. Satire and Critique in Dead Soul by Nikolai Vasilievich Gogol A Satire for the Ages Satirical fiction, although unique and one of a kind in its nature, has continued to be an enthralling and captivating subject out of the plethora of themes that exist throughout literature history and thrive to this day. While the many forms of humor that appear throughout a novel, from comical, ironic characters to witty, exaggerated plots, are often considered tame and childish themes, authors, skillful and clever alike, are able to utilize such forms of humor and transform them into a means of stirring emotion within their audiences, in order to deliver logical, yet powerful messages. For centuries, authors have used satires as devices to not only ridicule, but to expose and criticize people s stupidity and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But as Tchitchikov visits individual after individual, the honest picture of the hero is slowly unveiled thus the very first message Gogol delivers is not to judge any noble by mere appearance. Although Tchitchikov does indeed possess many great social qualities, he uses them only to his advantage. Tchitchikov sweet talks every noble he encounters and, whether it be by overpowering them with intellect or by playing them with words, forces them to give him the dead souls that he desires. In addition, Tchitchikov, throughout the account, continues to resort to immoral decisions. While he had gained many friends of high status in the town of N, he finds himself abusing their kindness and hospitality to try and get rich, which ultimately ruins him soon after. A second time, while having the opportunity to settle down and earn money honestly, he finds himself getting caught up in a scandal. Gogol very comically criticizes how, unless deciding to change, Russian nobles, in their pride and greed, will continue to make the same mistakes, time and time again. Another means by which Gogol is able to present a satire of Russian life is the portrayal of women throughout the novel. The first woman Tchitchikov encounters is Madame Korobotcha. It can be seen that he converses with her with less decorum and

The employer will try to pay the employees as little money as he or she can. Raising the wage would hurt the low skilled workers. It may also result in eliminating jobs. People are less likely to get hired because entry level workers are getting paid to businesses. Raising the wage can also let low wage workers get an education and move up to higher paying jobs. According to Journals Resource s John Wihbey, if the wage is not raised, low paying workers are more likely to be enrolled in a community college. They can improve their skills and go for a higher paying job or they can go for a career. If the minimum wage is raised, some businesses would have to cut jobs in order to pay employees more. It can be difficult for people to find jobs. Raising the minimum wage has a lot of negative situations for

  • 12. The Key Verses And Passages That Tell Us More Introduction Many people, especially Christians know of the book of John for its famous verse found in chapter 3 verse 16, For God so loved the world that he gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life (NIB, Pg.1912). But there is far more to the fourth Gospelthat gives us an in depth culture of people known as the Johannine Community. Thesis In order to better understand the Fourth Gospel in the Holy Scriptures, I am going to first give a brief description of the authorship, setting, and date in which this was said to have been written. Second, I will explain the purpose or context in which this gospel was written. Third, I will discuss key verses and passages that tell us more in depth about Jesus. Last and finally, I will my own questions, thoughts, and observation of the Gospel of John. Last and finally. Background When discussing the time period in which this piece was actually written, it is important to understand that it was written before the epistles. According to many scholars such as Charles H. Talbert, the book of John was written either after or around the same time as the letters 1, 2, 3 of John (Talbert, pg.4). According to Talbert, the text cannot be dated much later than 100 AD. There are fragments from Chapter 18:31 33 that seem to be dated back to as early as second century, or 125 AD (Talbert, Pg. 1917). When it comes to the authorship of the text, it is also said to be unknown, although

Macbeth is going to kill Macduff s wife, children, and anyone who gets in his way of gaining the title of king and power that comes with it. Macbeth is selfish and is willing to kill another family so that his family continues to be the heir of the throne. Those are just a few examples of how Macbeth turned to violence in order to gain power. Not only does Macbeth result to violence and do things he would not normally do for power, but Lady Macbeth does the same. One example of Lady Macbeth is at the beginning of the play when a messenger arrives and tells her that the king is on the way to her castle. She then decides that she is going to do everything she can get Macbeth and herself the crown. Come, you spirits that tend on mortal thoughts, unsex me here,/ And fill me from the crown to the toe top full/ Of direst cruelty (1.5 48 50). Lady Macbeth is willing to kill the king to get the crown. She wants to quit being so feminine so that she can do what is necessary to get rid of him. There was this domestic ideal that women were supposed to be at home cleaning, cooking, and taking care of children while the men would work. But during the 1960s, more women were finding jobs and eventually forty percent of workers were women. Marriage rates were declining and divorces were increasing because women were choosing to not be married. They were rejecting the lives of their mothers. Men were having anxieties over masculinity. For example, many questioned when African Americans would fully gain their freedom and there be peace between all races in America. They questioned when would there be no more war to be peacefully. It is also saying that it is important to ask these kind of questions and its okay to question everything. With God on Our Side, was a song about militarism that was released in 1964. • 16. Confucianism In Chin The Fall Of The Qin Dynasty There have been many debates among Chinese historians as to the cause of the fall of the Qin Dynasty. The Qin used force and strict rules to keep a short leash on the people of the kingdom. However, with the precautions taken by the government, they did not know it would ultimately be their demise. In order to contain rebellion and to keep the people of the empire ignorant, the combination of brutality, persecutions, antagonizing of the elites, and denying the Way, led to the short reign and ultimately the fall of the Qin Dynasty. In order to start at the very core of the problem with the Qin, one must look into Confucianism. Confucius, known as Master Qiu or Our Master Kong, lived during the Spring and Autumn Period of the Zhou Dynasty from 551 479 B.C.E. He was born in Lu in Eastern China of low nobility, but educated. During this time, war was imminent. He spent a time during his life traveling from state to state helping, and became employed by rulers who shared his view and perspective of life. Now labeled as Confucianism, his teachings and philosophies shaped the Chinese world for thousands of years. Confucius surviving teachings are published in his Analects. Three important conducts that Confucius associated with moral nobility were: filial, humaneness, and ritual decorum. Filial piety is the devotion, respect for elders and know your place within the family. A young person who is filial and respectful of his elders rarely becomes the kind of person who is

[This] drives the only honorable man in Rome to treachery, to the betrayal of the state with whom not only his fortunes but also his values are inextricably associated. The process means the destruction of the man. (Rabkin 138) All of Shakespeare s tragedies depict the protagonist s rise and fall from glory and the consequences of his actions. In The Tragedyof Coriolanus by William Shakespeare, Caius Martius Coriolanus has one tragic flaw, he is too honorable and too just for Rome, which leads him to become arrogant and proud, not only on the battlefield of war, but on the political battlefield as well. There are certain points of humility throughout the play, including at first rejecting the gown of humility he wears whist gaining voices for consul (which only serves to boast about his war deeds) and when kneeling before Aufidius and offering his life up to his greatest enemy. Caius Martius knows the battlefield better than any other soldier in Rome, he is not only the best athlete in Rome but the best soldier. Since the Cold War and the Soviet Union s successful launch of Sputnik in October of 1957, improvements of education was necessary. In the 1960 s, John F. Kennedy developed proposals to ensure the American education system were competitive with students all around the world. His proposals were to ensure that every race, and religion would receive a good education. However, not every child was receiving the same education opportunities based on money issues surrounding them and the minority they were classified as, the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 was to ensure that these issues would be dissolve. On January 8th of 2002, six months and one war later after George W. Bush first proposed the No Child Left Behind bill, it was finally passed. Under the No Child Left Behind, every state was required to develop and implement strict academic standards in reading and math. These standards obliged by law to every student regardless of ethnicity, social class, or mental ability to ensure that in twelve years, one hundred percent of students could demonstrate satisfactory skills (Hudson 44). The law also required states to create their own test and assessments, to be administrated to the third through eighth grade annually. The results of these tests determined how much funding the schoolwould get. If the test scores were low, the school would not get as much funds as a school with high test score would get. Dickens begins by avoiding using terms that identify ownership, i.e. When he heard a voice thus calling to him . The 2nd person in the story is the signal man, who at this point is acting in a very peculiar manner. This produces suspicion amongst the reader and thus generates interest or suspense. Throughout the entire novel, Charles Dickens is using language that is very obviously uncomfortable, i.e. Angry sunset , or Violent pulsation . The characters are not described as very ordinary. It is dark below, and light above. The exit up the rock walls is slimy, slippery, and difficult to traverse. The scene greatly resembles hell. When the protagonist begins to approach the signal man, the signal man acts as if he was expecting this visit. This generates anticipation within the reader. Dickens uses repetition to great effect, causing alertness and confusion amongst the reader, and also draws attention to particular quotes, Halloa, below there , Don t call out . The signal man anticipates supernatural activity by use of foreshadowing, telling the visitor that he believes they have met in the past. At the same time, the signal man is being rather vague, which creates suspense and encourages the reader to learn more about the story. Because the narrator is so vague, it causes the reader to use his or her imagination. This connects with the reader, which in turn makes the reader feel as though he or she is part of the story. The reader does eventually discover the history, but not till some way into the tale. This delay is purposely used to keep the reader in suspense. A great notice should be made to the rational character. In most tales involving the supernatural, there will always be an entity that has rational explanations for everything. This seems to ruin the atmosphere by spoiling the mystery. However, in most tales involving the

Examples Of In-Depth Interview To answer my research question, I chose semi structured in depth interviews because it particularly lends itself to exploring challenging and complex life situations such as the return to work following parental leave. According to Valerie Yow, the recorded in depth interview can offer answers to questions that no other methodology can provide (Yow 2005, 9). In her introductory chapter on in depth interviewing, Yow specifically mentions complex decisions as a case where in depth interviews allow us to pose questions that remain invisible in statistics and official records. If the genetic information is only accessible to the individual then there is a decreased chance of such discrimination occurring because the information is disclosed to who the individual wishes to. Genetic information can raise questions about personal responsibility, personal choice versus genetic determinism, and concepts of health and disease. Personal factors, family values, and community and cultural beliefs can mould the reactions to these issues. For example the response to the genetic information and suggestion from physicians after the test will be drastically different in a society where traditions and religion determine life choices, such as India, than to a more individually liberal society like the USA. Even in a progressive society that has had specific ethnic groups for multiple generations disparities with medical technology are common. A study conducted, using the national representative data, in the USA with the sample that consisted of 1724 men and women of non Hispanic whites, Latinos, and African American background. Results exposed significant differences by racial/ethnic groups in knowledge and concerns about the potential misuse of genetic testing. Significantly higher levels of mistrust in a physician and the medical system was a common thread within minorities. The genetic tests can be a way of ridding anxiety attached to the assumed inheritance of genetic disease due to family background whilst for others the genetic test reveals their reality. The results can have a great deal of a psychological impact upon the individual. The possibility of developing a genetic disease alone can create anxiety within some. The psychological impact from the results revealed is another issue that society is concerned about. A

The phenotypic traits include being tall, abnormally long stretched limbs and in the most severe cases the aorta can be prone to rupture and retinal detachment can occur [1]. Seventy five percent of cases for this multisystem disorder are genetic and inherited in an autosomal dominant fashion (a child can inherit it from just one parent): 25% are sporadic where neither parent has the syndrome [2]. Its prevalence is 1/5000 and of these affected individuals each has a 50% chance of passing on the mutated gene to their offspring [3]. Thoracic aortic aneurysm is also prevalent in Marfan s syndrome sufferers. This is a condition caused by the widening of the aorta due to weakness in the walls of the vessel. Aneurysm can lead to rupture itself or to aortic dissection where the aorta wall tears thus allowing blood to flow between the layers of the blood vessel walls. It can result in rupture or in a decrease in blood flow to the organs. This situation is very dangerous and is most likely to require heart surgery or aortic replacement

Faulty Components Detected During Construction Cost 6 15% of construction cost is found to be wasted due to rework of defective components detected late during construction and 5% of construction cost is wasted due to rework of defective components detected during maintenance.[i] Within the current drywall processes, we have found multiple operational issues which may be leading to increased quality problems and project costs. Some of the areas that need to be addressed are forecasting, process flow, and inventorymanagementand supply chain problems. The current quality issues within the drywall processes are having a direct impact on the estimator s ability to forecast the inventory needs for the projects as well as overall cost of the work. The re work necessary to address the quality concerns of the customers is having a direct impact on the ability to forecast the amount of supplies (drywall sheets, screws, etc.), labor, and process time needed to complete the job. The uncertain demand created by the need for rework is having a direct impact on the cost efficiency and an increase of forecasting errors by the estimators. In addition to the forecasting issues there are operational issues throughout the drywall process that are of concern. During the process there is a bottleneck of up to 24 hours where the workers need to wait for the joint compound to dry. This wait time creates a flow stoppage for the entire process and may need to be addressed to help improve the time and cost efficiency of the drywall process. It

Between the two locations, 14 children with Leukemia were chosen to take place in this study. The children were compared based off of demographics, urinary and blood levels (metals, tungsten, pesticides, etc.) as well as location of residence compared to the rest of the U.S. Population. Variables were used in the determination of whether or not environmental exposure was the cause of the increase in cancer related cases among children and to determine if this was indeed a cancer cluster. Requirements Management Process Area ( Reqm ) Briefly describe the purpose and objectives of the Requirements Management process area (REQM) The purpose of Requirements Management is to manage a projects requirements of its products and components. It also is used to align the requirements and project plans. Specific goals of the process area are based around understanding the requirements, obtaining commitment to them, making changes to them as they evolve, keeping traceability to the products and making sure the plans and products are aligned to requirements. The organisation must understand what the requirements are in order to fulfil them, as any confusion or misplaced requirements can spell disaster later in the project. They must be aware of what they are setting out to complete. Requirements should be clearly stated and complete, while being possible for the organisation to carry out. After the requirements are understood, commitment needs to be made with whomever provided the requirements. Requirements can be changed as the project goes on, but wherever possible a firm commitment should be sought so that the organisation can have some more predictability on what they are setting out to do. If changes are necessary, either due to the needs of the customer or the restrictions of the process, the changes must be carefully documented and added to a change history. This is to ensure that the change is fully understood to both the organisation and the customer. If a change is to be made, it should be done correctly

These poor diets can harm a child s classroom performance and impede their learning ability. Poor nutrition among children in America is on the rise. This is due, in part, to poor eating habits like skipping meals, overeating, working parents eating on the run, and fast food establishments ( ). ASSESSMENT OF BOD, COD AS ORGANIC POLLUTION INDICATOR LEVELS OF VARHALA LAKE ABSTRACT Lakes are of great importance both from the natural and economic point of view. Lake water is a source of drinking and domestic water supply for people living in and around the area. The present study was conducted to assess the organic pollution indicators like BOD, COD and DO. The sampling of water was based on human and aquatic activities around the lake. Water from five sampling stations of Varhala Lake was monitored for seasonal variations from May 2011 to April 2012. The BOD was positively correlated with COD of 0.609, as both are the products of oxidation. The correlation between DO and BOD, gave a negative relationship of 0.517 between two variables. Keywords: Water quality monitoring; pollution indicators; Varhala Lake INTRODUCTION Most of our water resources are gradually becoming polluted due to the addition of foreign materials from the surroundings. Rapid urbanization and industrialization has put a lot of pressure on the existing water bodies (Waziri et al., 2009; Sawant and Telave, 2009). Anthropogenic development and changes around lakes affects their ecosystems (Mouri, G et al 2011). Continental America had been settled by the turn of the century. Some say it is time for America to have a new frontier and that it might be found overseas. • 41. Social Class Differences In American Culture In American culture, most parents would say that they are doing a satisfactory job at raising their children; yet, each family raise their children so differently. The differences are clearly seen when compared by class. In the upper classes (high class to upper middle class), children are given hundreds of learning opportunities and are taught to value education at a much earlier age. They are put into expensive day cares that require competitive applications, after school art and sport programs, and enrichment clubs that ensure they are building a foundation that will prepare them for success. These enriching opportunities are only feasible because parents from the upper class have the money and the time to pour into their children, which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this case, economic standing can be placed int eh ascribed category as it is a cultural standings that children are born into and can affect their life chances and opportunities. Therefore, it is socially interesting how the differing child rearing techniques, which are influenced by cultural values are manifesting and influencing the children s later achieved statuses. Comparatively, the upper classes early pressure of the importance of enrichment and education may influence children s future job statuses or life
  • 42. Piaget s Theory Of Cognitive Ability Welcome to the exciting and adventurous camp of Cognitive Ability, where we challenge and cherish the precious minds of babies and teens through our fun activities of psychology through Piaget s theory of cognitive ability. Piaget s theory of cognitive ability was designed to distinguish the age at which a child s cognitive ability was developed through the stages in which he classified as sensorimotor, preoperational, concrete operational and formal operational (Lutz Huitt, 2004). The goal of the camp is to define how children learn, remember, pay attention, and problem solve through each child s development pace by a series of educational activities for all to enjoy. The sensorimotor stage activities will consist primarily of age s birth to about two years. The child will be given a choice of toys to play with such as stuffed animals, building blocks or a rattle. Each toy will either produce a sound. During the main activity, one of the instructors will give the child the rattle to play with by first showing the rattle to the baby and then shaking the rattle. As the baby looks at the rattle they will be startled or surprised by the sound and wonder why and where it came from. The instructor will then give the rattler to the baby and then they will shake it. The baby will gradually understand they are causing the sound, therefore motor skills and sensory perceptions are established. In the sensorimotor stage, infants will realize that their actions through sense and

In 2007, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration estimated that speeding related crashes cost society a staggering $40.4 billion per year, and speed was a major contributing factor in at least thirty one percent of all fatal crashes (citation needed). As of November 2011, a total of sixteen states and thirty three cities have outlawed the use of photo enforcement tickets. These state and local governments have banned the use of photo enforcement because they do not protect citizens and in some instances, they actually violate citizens rights. An example of this is how photo enforcement tickets violate the Fifth Amendment because they do not offer the legal due process. Upon receiving a photo enforcement ticket, drivers must pay a fine or risk seizure of assets. There is no opportunity for the driver to face their accuser, or to plead their case. Furthermore, in many states, either a sworn law enforcement officer, or a process server must present a speeding citation to the offender. Until a ticket is officially presented by one of these two people, it is merely a request to pay the prescribed fine. Additionally, whenever a citation is issued, it is sent to the registered owner of the vehicle, not necessarily the person who was driving that vehicle at the time the photo was

Even though times have changed, today s bodybuilders are far bigger than in Arnold s time, we can still learn a lot from the man that brought bodybuildingto the masses. In his novel, Arnold: The Education of a Bodybuilder, he thoroughly describes his philosophies and gives the reader insight on how to become just like him by following simple workout routines. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Arnold understands that the word body building implies that we are undertaking something constructive. Exercise merely tones and develops existing muscles. In order to build muscles we must have the nutrients that promote growth (Shwarzenegger, 2005, p. 152). In fact, eating is at the core of his bodybuilding principles. Many come to him asking what the best way to gain weight is and he replies by stating it is nutrition along with intensive training. Bulking up is a sure way of gaining mass, but by simply keeping fat content low and recording what you consumer in a food log, one can gain, according to him, twelve pounds of pure muscle mass each year until they reach their body size limit. Most all of the body building philosophies that Arnold puts forth in his novel seem truthful and in fact are very convincing. Many of these, however, are hard to believe, especially coming from an individual who has found the perfect physique by using illegal supplements. Success in body building is usually related to genetics. Sure, you have got to train and you have got to eat, but the best training and eating program still will not turn the local gym bum into Arnold Schwarzenegger. The only way to be Arnold is to have his parents, and even then there is a high probability that the person still will not grow up to look like Arnold. Peer correction has always taken as an effective way of improving students involvement. However, students perception for peer correction has never been taken into account. This study examines students perception for peer correction to see whether it helps them in the process of language learning or not. Literature review Theoretical Background Making mistakes is inevitable for the language learners who are trying to communicate in target language. Krashen (1982) argues, corrective feedback may be useless if learners are not ready to learn. Corder (1967) and Selinker (1972) considered errors as a part of the learners interlanguage and an evidence of progress. On the other hand, if the teachers don t correct learner s errors in the classroom, may the other students of the class consider them as a correct form and it could lead to fossilization. Behaviorists consider errors as a sign of failure and believe that teachers should correct learner s errors immediately. In contrast to Behaviorism is Mentalism. According to Chomsky, Language learning is a process involving active mental processes and the learner is forming and testing hypotheses during the process of learning. So errors are taken as a necessary part of learning process. Contrastive Analysis (CA) is a mechanism that Structural linguists introduced. CA helps language teachers to deal with learners errors. CA states that with comparison
  • 52. Global Warming And The Greenhouse Effect Global warming is the increase in the average surface temperature of the Earth due to the effect of the buildup of greenhouse gases, due to deforestation and burning fossil fuels which causes the heat to be trapped that would otherwise escape from the earth. To understand global warming, you need to understand the greenhouse effect. The greenhouse effect is actually essential for life on earth to exist as it allows the planet to remain warm enough to sustain life. For example if we consider for moment a simplistic comparison of a car parked in the sun. The rays of the sun enter the car through the windows and some of the heat is absorbed by items inside the car (seats, dashboard etc). These objects will in turn begin to release heat and some of this heat escapes back through the windows but some of the heat is reflected back into the car. The result is that more heat enters the car than is able to escape it and the interior of the car warms up. So if you think of the earth s atmosphere as the car s interior. The landscape and structures on earth can be seen as the cars seats and dashboard. The role of the cars windows is played by certain things within the earth s atmosphere such as carbon dioxide, methanegas and water vapour which absorb the heat reflected by the earth below. These are known as greenhouse gasses. When there are more greenhouse gasses present in the atmosphere, more heat can be retained leading to a rise in the temperature of our planet. This is what I
