- 6. Female A. C. Harrison and S. A. O’Neill (2003) did a study to show that females preferred woodwinds over brass. The girls interviewed for this study choose flute and clarinet for financial or personal reasons.
- 7. Drummers S. D. Harrison (2003) investigated gender roles and found that drums and guitar were among the top instruments for both sexes, suggesting a pop music influence. The research of this study reflects this statement.
- 8. Female Drummer Conway (2000) interviewed 23 students who broke gender stereotypes in their instrument choice . Students who crossed the gender barrier reported a desire to be different. Female Drummer supports this research.
- 9. Gender & Problem Solving Joseph Abramo (20110) determined that men and women learn differently. Boys tend to model with their instruments Girls tend to describe with their words.
