The Consumer Goods Forum (CGF) works to promote more sustainable refrigeration practices through knowledge sharing and encouraging the adoption of natural refrigerants. CGF established a 2010 resolution to phase out harmful HFC refrigerants by 2015 and replace them with natural alternatives like hydrocarbons. Considerable progress has been made with many CGF members piloting natural refrigerant solutions. However, refrigeration still accounts for a large portion of electricity use and greenhouse gas emissions worldwide. CGF will continue working with members and stakeholders to adopt best practices, influence policy, and further the transition to more sustainable refrigeration technologies.
