Stono Rebellion Essay
The Stono Rebellion was at the time the biggest slave rebellion to ever take place in the American
colonies. It came at a time when owning slaves was one of the accepted things in the colonies and the
colonists depended on the labor the slaves were doing. Some colonies entire economies depended on
it. In South Carolina, there were more slaves than free men in the colony. This was because of the
African slave trade. It was the constant trade to get slaves which made the colonists depend on slave
labor. Slave labor was so profitable, most slave owners treated their slaves as property. Beatings,
starvation, and overworking were common practices on the plantations. The slave owners didn t care
because they were making money from the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Twenty whites and forty four slaves were killed in the fight at Edisto River. The group of slaves
retreated but the militia were able to get other local militia s to join in the fight with them. In addition,
remaining local slave owners warned and threatened their own slaves that if they even considered
joining the rebellion, they would be punished. The militia and the slave group fought for over a week.
The conflict finally ended with the surrendering of the slave group. After the slaves surrendered, the
remaining members of the slaves that rebelled were hung for their crimes. These slaves were made an
example to all other slaves, making them not even want to attempt to rebel in the future. This rebellion
led to much harsher slave codes that were enforced in the colony. It also restricted the slaves so much
that it meant that they could not go anywhere without their owners permission at any time. The Negro
Act of 1740 was passed which prohibited enslaved people from growing their own food, assembling
in groups, earning money they, rather than their owners, could retain or learning to read. (The Black
Past.org) The legacy that the Stono Rebellion had and still does have to this day is that it ended up
setting back the relations of blacks and whites in the state for years. This conflict ended up reigniting
tensions between the races that up to that point were not all that high. The rebellion also made slavery
last longer in the

The Negative Effects Of Social Networking In The Workplace
Social networking is all the crave in today s society. In 2017, 81 percent of U.S. Americans had an
online networking profile, representing a five percent development contrasted with the earlier year ( ).
Social networking in the working environment can be an important apparatus for organizations. It can,
in turn, cause significant issues at work. Bosses are confronted with the need to create online
networking approaches that enable the organization to receive the positive rewards of social
networking use while limiting the negative impacts. Issues happen when workers take advantage of
work web access for individual use amid work hours. Managers must choose if the utilization of web
based social networking exceeds the potential for negative effects.
Managers are concerned that social media can become a distraction during working hours. Employees
can become lost in time while on social media taking away from valuable productivity. Social media
can also be valuable to the organization as a promotional tool to reach out to new clients.
An advantage of online networking in the work environment is that it can be used as an advertising
tool for organizations. It enables a measure of straightforwardness to the organization through posts,
sites, and pictures and makes the organization less demanding to identify with for the normal shopper.
Organizations can utilize online networking to assemble mailing records, offer deals, display products
and post positive media comments.

After completing a search of the literature I decided to select this article for one main reason. It applies
a basic theory for us as nurses. TheTheory of ethics of care, a significant theory applied in our daily

Sewing Is An Art That I Have It
Sewing is an art that I have yet to master. As a Fashion Merchandising major, it is better to be safe
than sorry. Meaning, the more crafting skills you possess, the better. Missing out on career
opportunities due to lack of skills is not acceptable for me. I aim to gain vast amounts of knowledge of
the creation process of fashion through this project. When people first started to wear clothing, about
60,000 years ago, they did not sew at all. They wrapped themselves in leather and furs to cover up.
When people first began living in Central Asia, where the temperatures usually were lower, people
wanted stronger clothing. They began to use sharp pointed sticks or stone tools called awls
(pronounced OLLS) to poke holes in their clothes so they could run the cords through the clothes
instead of just around them. They used the awls to poke the end of the cord through the holes, too.
Both Neanderthals and modern people used awls this way (K.E. CARR). In the 20th century, sewing
machines became more affordable to the working class. Therefore, the demand for sewing patterns
increased. Textile industries in Western countries have declined as textile industries compete for
cheaper labor in other parts of the globe. According to the U.S. Department of Labor employment of
sewers and tailors is expected to experience little or no change, growing 1 perfect from 2010 to 2020 .
Textile workers who apply tasks with sewing machines, or make projects by hand, are still a vital
component of

Julius Caesar Mood
The Moods and Theme of Julius Caesar
Shakespeare s Julius Caesar is a striking testament to the highs and lows of the human experience that
has captivated the world for generations. Even in the first act, the audience can witness the unraveling
of an epic plot and the intricate characters that make it so. The story opens with the celebration of
Lupercalia, where the most powerful man in the Roman empire, Caesar, is parading through the
streets. Near the end of his march a soothsayer warns him of his nearing death, only to have the notion
quickly dismissed. However, only moments later, two senators meet in private to ensure that his death
is unavoidable. In this way, Julius Caesar weaves the moods of power, internal struggle, and tension to

Every character experiences tension at least once throughout the story. The most obvious example of
this is the plotting senators. Many of them are unsure of whether or not they want to commit to such a
serious act, and referring to themselves as being ...governed with [their] mothers spirits because of it
(1.3.86). They are uncertain of where they stand which causes them to distrust the other conspirators,
doubting their secrets will be kept. This becomes beneficial to them as the men proceed with more
caution and secrecy then they would have otherwise. Another example of tension is present in the
conversations between Brutus, Caesar and their wives. The women, Portia and Calpurnia, have been
kept in the dark concerning their husband s affairs, which has created an obvious wall between them.
Fed up with the secrecy, Portia decides to speak out boldly to her husband, while completely
disregarding the quiet, respectful and subservient role that was placed on women at that time.
(2.1.314) Calpurnia rises to the occasion in a similar way, as she tries to keep Caesar from going to his
death. These examples show how tension was a significant incentive for the characters to step out of
their boundaries and completely disregard their

Pi s Passion For Many Different Religions
At the beginning of the novel, we are introduced to Pi s passion for many different religions. Pi is a
believer, and he prays, as well as, analyzes the depth of religion. Do you feel that throughout the first
few days during Pi s survival on the lifeboat, Pi continues to exhibit and carry through religion based
procedures to calm and assist him in his means of survival?
From the very start it is revealed to us that Piscine Molitor Patel is extremely passionate about
religion. In fact, the entire introduction and first part of the novel revolves around Pi expressing his
love for all types of religion, and describing his beliefs for each and every one of them (Hinduism,
Islam, Christianity). Pi talks about everyone s confusion on which religion he supports, as they
believe, one can support only one religion. What is your son doing going to the temple? Your son was
seen in church crossing himself. Your son has gone Muslim However, when Pi is thrown out onto the
lifeboat by the sailors of his ship going to Canada, I see a huge change in the intensity and amount of
connections Pi makes to religion. On the lifeboat, during the first few days at sea, Pi completely
forgets about all of his prayers. I believe that this is because Pi completely loses his faith when he is
the only one to survive out of his family, and he is on a tiny life boat with a huge Bengal tiger, and a
hyena. I think that Pi s love of religion came from all of the hope stored inside of him. However,

Elizabeth Barrett Browning s Poetry
Elizabeth Barrett Browning s poetry was particularly prevalent while she was alive. Sonnets from the
Portuguese proved to be her most popular work. Browning was born Elizabeth Barrett on March 6,
1806; she was the firstborn of 11 siblings. Her life was closely guided by her father, Edward Moulton
Barrett. Browning was a talented reader, though she never attended any formal education, and the
young woman began writing poetry very early. At the age of thirteen, her father had her epic the Battle
of Marathon published. At the age of fifteen, Browning contracted a nervous disorder, causing
headaches, weakness and fainting spells, which lasted for the rest of the poet s life. Elizabeth Barrett s

For her, however, no confusion exists: God is Love, and Robert Browning s love brought concrete
form to the concept: in a Platonic sense, it gave form to the formless. She concludes that, in Barrett
Browning s understanding, the flame of love is divine in origin; it burns through lovers; its fire distills
all lesser metal out; what remains is the pure essence. Radley places such emphasis on the comparison
of divine and impure love because Browning asserted that all love is purified in

A Life Lived for a Community
A Life Lived for a Community
In a little tan house with dark shutters on Monroe Street in Troy, Missouri, there lives a woman with
an easy smile and twinkling eyes. By the park commonly called by the locals, the Duck Pond Park,
this woman lives quietly where she has for many years now, and no one who passes by can guess as
what lies in that little house. This woman has a drive to make an impact on the community with her all
of her time and her energy. This woman is named Altha Marsh. She someone who has spent her life
striving to help and inspire other people every day, and most people don t even know that she is doing
it. And to her that isn t important because she has a love for helping people, just as her Grandfather
taught her too, all those years ago in Elsberry, Lincoln County, Missouri.
Altha was originally born in the pint sized town of Brunswick Missouri, which in 2010, had a
population of a whopping 838 people (city data.com).In the early 1940 s, when she was born, the
population was 1,749, much larger than it is today (Missouri Census Data Center). After she was born,
she moved as often as a bumblebee in spring due to her Father s occupation as high school band
teacher. The home she remembers most from her childhood, after a series of small towns, is in
Elsberry, Missouri, when she lived near her three grandparents.
It was in Elsbury that Altha attended high school, owed to the fact her father was the band teacher, she

W. E. B. Du Bois s Criticism Of Claude Mckay ´ S Home To...
Among the critical responses to Home to Harlem, W.E.B. Du Bois s criticism of Claude McKay s text
seemingly speaks from an essentialist perspective. Du Bois simply found that McKay s representation
of black culture within his novel reproduced stereotypical and crude images which white audiences
desired in the midst of the Harlem Renaissance. In response to Du Bois, McKay argued that the novel
was created for a black audience, but, to delve even deeper outside of Claude McKay s views, it could
be argued that Home to Harlem does not produce a single identity at all. Rather, Home to Harlem s
perpetual mobility and movement invests in the idea of black identity as production rather than as the
exhibition of a collective one true self ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Had Felice not offered up Chicago as a new place of residence, Jake would have wound up exactly
how he d started, having been thinking a gitting away from the stinking mess [of Harlem], a place he d
previously designated as home, to go on off to the sea again (McKay 322). Throughout the text, Jake
frequents a variety of unique places, from Harlem to Pittsburgh to Brooklyn to the train in which he
had taken [a] job on the railroad (McKay 125). McKay s audience is privy to a plethora of details
regarding Jake s rousing endeavors in every new location he discovers. Home to Harlem s audience
watches as that strange, elusive something in Jake catches him and has him [roaming] away and
wandering to some unknown new port, caught ... by some romantic rhythm, color, face, passing
through cabarets, saloons, speakeasies, and so on; in short, the emphasis on Jake s travels is on his
restlessness in his desire for movement rather than a search for some inner truth he may hold (McKay
41). Thus, the picaresque novel employment of the episodic form is vital for Home to Harlem as it
allows for the motif of movement to be used for its potential. Not only that, though, but it can easily
be inferred that Claude McKay designed his novel to be structured in such a way with a degree of
intentionality. For whatever reason, McKay understood that an episodic format was the best to display
Jake s story. Thus, his audience must

How Permanent Are Permanet Markers
For my science fair project, I figured out what solvent would work best to erase permanent marker.
The solvents I tested were: lemon juice, vinegar, water, and rubbing alcohol. I tried each of these
solvents on a permanent marker line on plastic, paper, fabric, and wood. In this research paper, I will
be talking about what a permanent marker is, how they are made, why they work so well, what
rubbing alcohol is and its common uses, what vinegar is and its common uses, what water is and why
water is so essential, and what exactly lemon juice is. I will also be talking about how plastic is made,
how fabric is made, how wood is made, and how paper is made. A permanent marker is a type of

The solvent that worked best in my experiment was rubbing alcohol. Rubbing alcohol is a denatured
alcohol especially used as an antiseptic. It can also be used to cool, warm, or soothe skin. It can
inflame the skin and if ingested, may potentially be fatal. Rubbing alcohol consists of 2 ingredients:
isopropyl alcohol and water. In fact, rubbing alcohol consists of so much isopropyl alcohol (70%) that
it is often referred to just as isopropyl alcohol. Water was the final solvent that I used in my
experiment. Water is essential for anything and everything. Human beings need water to stay hydrated
and survive. All living creatures need water to stay hydrated and survive. Everyone uses water every
day; whether it s to shower, brush their teeth, to drink, swim, wash their hands, or to water plants.
Seventy percent of the world is made up of water. Water contains two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen
atom, and is often referred to as H2O. The H2 stands for the 2 oxygen atoms and the O stands for
oxygen. Water can be a liquid, solid, or gas. Water in its regular state is a liquid, can be frozen to form
ice, which is a solid, or boiled at 100° C to evaporate it and turn it into water vapour, which is a gas.
Plastic was one of the surfaces I used in my experiment. Plastic comes from the Greek word plastikos,
which means fit for moulding. Plastic is made using a long and complicated process. First, petroleum

The United States Department Of Education
The U.S. Department of Education provides supplemental funding to local school districts to meet the
needs of at risk and low income students. This funding is known as Title 1 funding and the schools
that receive a portion of this funding are referred to as Title 1 schools. Teachers in Title 1 schools
encounter students facing life struggles that many of us cannot imagine. Encouraging these students to
focus in school can be difficult, but it is essential to overcome the challenge in order for students to
achieve academically. Finding ways to engage Title 1 students can be a daunting task due to the fact
that they face daily struggles just to survive. However, teachers must use student motivation
techniques to engage these students. These techniques will assist in the students success in the
classroom. In education, student engagement refers to the degree of attention, curiosity, interest,
optimism, and passion that students show when they are learning or being taught, which extends to the
level of motivation they have to learn and progress in their education (Hidden Curriculum, 2014).
Every teacher encounters the challenge of getting students engaged in work in the classroom. While
some students enthusiastically walk into a classroom each day, others need motivation and inspiration
to focus in school. This issue is significant for school leaders because the role of the school is to
provide a place for students to engage and interact with knowledge. If students are not

Career In Pediatric Oncology
A Career in Pediatric Oncology Oncology is the study and treatment of cancer. Cancer is a disease that
develops when normal cells in certain parts of the body start to grow abnormally and continuously. It
has been a plague on human life for a while; in fact, the earliest evidence of the disease was found in
ancient Egyptian manuscripts dating back to 1600 BC. It is currently the most diagnosed disease in the
world. Pediatric Oncology is a subspecialty of the practice that focuses on the treatment of cancer in
children. In earlier days, because information on the disease was limited, treatment for children was
almost inexistent. However, in the 1940s a doctor named Sidney Farber made a milestone in the

Reflection About Selfishness
Everybody is bound to be selfish from time to time. Although many elements of our society may
encourage it, selfishness just hurts other people, sometimes at little to no personal gain. A selfish
person also ends up losing friends or loved ones because no matter how charming or interesting a
selfish person may be, a relationship with a selfish person is hard to maintain. A truly selfish person
would never consider the possibility that they are selfish. Many think selfishness and pride are good
things, and that putting the needs of others above your own is for suckers. If you re worried that you re
too selfish and want to be on the path to gratitude and humility, then see Step 1 to get started.

set additional goals to manage these appropriately. For help with evaluating and managing the risks
you face, read our Risk Analysis and Management article.
Either way, make that promise!
Tip:
Self confidence is about balance. At one extreme, we have people with low self confidence. At the
other end, we have people who may be over confident.
If you are under confident, you ll avoid taking risks and stretching yourself; and you might not try at
all. And if you re over confident, you may take on too much risk, stretch yourself beyond your
capabilities, and crash badly. You may also find that you re so optimistic that you don t try hard
enough to truly succeed.
Getting this right is a matter of having the right amount of confidence, founded in reality and on your
true ability. With the right amount of self confidence, you will take informed risks, stretch yourself
(but not beyond your abilities) and try hard.

Teratogenic Effects Of Alcohol On Fetus
Effects of Alcohol on Fetus
Teratogen Defined. Alcohol consumption during pregnancy is known to have teratogenic effects.
Teratogen means that a particular agent is known to cause abnormalities on a developing embryo. The
teratogenic effect the alcohol will have on the embryo is highly dependent on dose and frequency of
consumption. As stated in the medical journal, Alcohol Abuse In Women, Exposure to heavy drinking
(over 48 60 gr. ethanol/day) may cause fetal alcohol syndrome; exposure to moderately high drinking,
between 24 48 gr. ethanol/day which may result mostly in alcohol effects.... (Ornoy, Ergaz 2010).

These three Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders may have mild to severe effects on the fetus. Fetal
Alcohol Syndrome, is known for the physical abnormalities it causes. Children with Fetal Alcohol
Syndrome have abnormal facial features, such as a smooth ridge between the nose and upper lip, small
head size, shorter than average height and low body weight. FAS also causes problems in the central
nervous system and may cause a wide range of behavioral issues (CDC,2015). Alcohol Related
Neurodevelopmental Disorder has properties that may not be readily visible right after birth. The
reason being that the disorder is based on the effects it has on the child intellectually and behaviorally.
These effects are prominently seen when the child is older. These children have difficulties with math,
memory, attention, judgment, and impulse control (CDC, 2015). The last Fetal Alcohol Spectrum
Disorder that will be discussed is Alcohol Related Birth Defects (ARBD). The defects associated with
this disorder are problems with the heart, kidneys, bones and hearing. Other consequences of alcohol
consumption while pregnant include spontaneous abortion, sleep and sucking problems as a baby, and
death. All of these consequences can be easily prevented if a mother chooses to abstain from drinking
while she is pregnant.

Long Walk Research Paper
The Long Walk was the forced removal of the Navajo people, which began in January 1864 in the
Arizona and New Mexico states. It was hardly recognized by Americans at the time because of the
Civil War and the slavery issues that were so much more important in the North and South part of the
country. The Long Walk is the Navajo Nation s own Trail of Tears . More than 8,500 Navajo men,
women, and children were forced to relocate to an internment camp in New Mexico called the Bosque
Redondo Reservation. The Navajo and some Apache were gathered from Arizona and New Mexico
and had to walk between 375 498 miles depending on which route they took (Remley, pg 230). Along
the way, about 200 people died. Once there the military found that twice the number of people that
they expected came.
For the Navajo people today, it is said that the Long Walk was one of the hardest times in their history.
The Long Walk started in early spring of 1864 and did not end until 1868. At first, it was the Spaniards
who wanted the vast amount of Navajo land hoping to find gold there. Americans then wanted to

Dr. Malcolm Sayer s The Film Awakenings
Awakened to the Psychological Concepts Portrayed in Film

Awakened to the Psychological Concepts Portrayed in Film The film Awakenings is an emotional film
that tells the story of a doctor, named Dr. Malcolm Sayer played by Robin Williams, who starts work
at a chronic hospital in the Bronx during the late 1960 s. As he examines patients at the hospital
though he comes to observe a good many of them are experiencing the same symptoms of a being in a
catatonic and unresponsive state yet still having the ability to react to certain stimuli. One patient in
particular, named Leonard Lowe played by Robert De Niro, catches Sayer s attention and he decides
to administer a new drug known as L Dopa in hopes of saving him from his coma like state. The drugs
works and soon all of the once statuesque patients are reanimated, but only for a short time, and sadly
soon Leonard and the rest of his fellow patients regress to their original catatonic state. However,
although this films proves to be deeply emotional with an extremely touching story many concepts
that relate to psychology are also present within it as well. Some concepts present within the film
Awakenings are that of the principle of ethics, the frustration aggression theory, conformity, and also
the idea of empathy altruism.

Discuss the problems and opportunities facing the global advertiser
The prevailing arena in business this millennium has powerful forces, which are transforming markets
and spectacularly changing ways of doing business. There has been increased movement of people,
goods and organisations across borders, which have resulted in the emergence of global market
segments and the growth of globally integrated markets. In order to discuss the problems and
opportunities facing the global advertiser in today s environment we must understand firstly, what
global advertising involves.
Advertising is a form of interaction used to incite or influence an audience (viewers, readers or

A fundamental strategic decision has to be made immediately as to whether to employ a uniform
marketing mix as part of a global strategy standardise or whether to adjust the marketing mix to take
account of the unique characteristics of each local market adapt . Standardisation involves the offering
of identical product line at identical prices through identical distribution systems, supported by
identical promotional programmes in several different countries.
The arguments however for standardisation suggest that if you go through the process of adapting the
product to local markets it does little but add to the overall cost of producing the product and weakens
the brand on the global scale. In today s global world, where consumers travel more, watch satellite
television, communicate and shop internationally over the Internet, the world now is becoming a lot
smaller. Because of this there is no need to adapt products to local markets. Brands such as Coca Cola,
MTV, Nike, Levis are all successful global brands where they have a standardised approach to their
marketing mix, all these products are targeted at similar groups globally. The main reasons to
encourage product standardisation involve Economies of Scale within Production;
Marketing/communications, Research amp; Development and Stock Holding. Easier management and

Maus and Persepolis
Persepolis and Maus: Two Survivors and Their Stories.
Of the many items that help enhance the horror of the Nazi Holocaust, one of the most notable is what
it had of systematic and bureaucratic. Not only killing people, which would have had already been
enough, but precisely being made in a quiet and civilized way. It is not strange the image of the Nazi
leader quoting his favorite poet while sending to death hundreds of people, belying the myth that
culture and education make people better. The Holocaust was primarily an act performed with such
rationality that could only become insane. It almost seems that it could have been avoided by
appealing to the same reason as well served to run it.

According to the data from a statistic done by the Canadian center of substance abuse, in 2004 to 2012
the initiation age of alcohol use has delayed from 15.6 years old to 16.2 years old. The thought alone
of thinking that a 15 year old child might be consuming drugs and drinking alcohol would sound
terrifying and concerning to most parents. Though the improvement of 0.6 years is admirable, it does
not change the fact that the legal age is still far from the age most adolescents begin to consume

Therefore, the research question driving this paper is; Is there a relationship between substance abuse
and adolescent self esteem?
REVIEW OF THE LITERATURE
The three reoccurring themes that are covered and will be discussed are; Parental Adolescent Conflict,
Peer Relationships, and Satisfaction.
Parental Behaviour. The vast majority of researches focuses on the between the parent child
relationship. Most researches mentions that the parent and child relationship is factor always present
in many cases of adolescent substance use (Caughlin et al. 2004; Henry et al. 2003; Jones et al. 1998;
Slicker et al. 2004.). Though the parental involvement is a common factor between all of the articles,
the approach in how they affect adolescents differ between articles. All of the four articles focused
about the withdraw and demand between parent and child, while the other one also focuses on the
child imitation of their parents based how they act. Henry et al. (2003) found that adolescents with
parents who employ authoritative parenting, in which parents show high levels of support and use
logical reasoning to exercise control, used alcohol more rationally compared to the adolescents with
parents who use more of an authoritarian approach, which favors or enforces strict obedience and high
demands but low responsiveness. Because of the poor communication brought by an authoritarian
approach, the

Training Managers to Motivate Employees
Abstract There are a variety of management styles in the field of training and development. With there
being so many styles, can training help managers adopt a more autonomy supportive motivating style
toward employees. Will the employees of these managers in turn show a greater workplace
engagement? Research shows managers that participate in training, have a more significantly
supportive management style. This paper will discuss the managers motivating styles and the benefits
to employees when managers become more autonomy supportive.

Autonomous motivation is self authored and personally endorsed as one s own (Ryan Deci, 2000).
There are two types of autonomous motivation that are associated with employees functioning,
intrinsic motivation and identified regulation. Intrinsic motivation involves employees engaging in an
activity because they find it interesting and satisfying. They usually express this with comments like, I
enjoy what I do. The other type of autonomous motivation is identified regulation. This involves
identifying with the activity performed and the time spent seems important and worth the effort. Most
employees express identified regulation through comments as, The work I do is important to me.
Controlled motivation is that which is pressure based and imposed by forces (i.e. people, rewards,
deadlines) outside the person (Ryan Deci, 2000). A type of controlled motivation is external
regulation. This involves employees doing an activity because they expect to gain an external
contingency to do so. The motivation is externally controlled because the employees are energized
into to working by incentives and to avoid consequences. If the incentives are not present and the
consequences are absent, the employees are not motivated to do action. These people can be often
heard expressing themselves such as, I work because the boss is watching. Many managers agree that
motivation is important and that the quality of employees motivation is important,

Greek Vs Iliad
Evidence of war exists beyond written records, found buried under earth in piles of broken ancient
cities and human made weapons. Throughout the history of man, war has occurred between all types
of developed and undeveloped civilizations. Even between thousands of years apart, the Israelites and
the Greeks both have an established record of war, each interlacing gods and humans within their
histories. Yet regardless of how war has been repeated throughout history, its effect and portrayal in
literature shows great diversity; the relationships between deities and mortals as well as the portrayal
of fighting written in the Tanakh and The Iliad differ tremendously. The Homeric world illustrates the
humanizing aspect of both the Greeks and the Trojans fighting in a war led by human conflicts, while
the biblical world portrays the one sided annihilation of nonbelievers and foreigners, in wars driven by
God s command.
The two pieces of literature differ in the relationship between the gods or God s and the people in war.
The Trojan War itself symbolizes the preserving of Menelaus honor and calls upon other Greek kings
to defend their oath regarding Helen s abduction; in short a war called forth by mortal conflicts.

Due to the fact that there are too many farm animals, the waste from these animals pile very high.
Raising these livestocks produces more greenhouse gases such as methane, carbon dioxide, and
nitrous oxide that contribute to global warming, the increase of temperature around the world. These
gases accumulate in the atmosphere and slowly heat up the planet, causing changes in climate. These
climate changes throw off the balance of nature and could cause the melting of the polar caps, drastic
changes in temperature, and other disastrous changes. Also, when farms and industries clear up forests
to make room for more farms and slaughterhouses, they are killing off the very things that are
capturing these greenhouse gases and also destroying habitats that animals live in. Not only that, but
the trees release the carbon dioxide they have been storing into the atmosphere. In addition, farms
dispose the waste of these animals into bodies of water, affecting the wildlife that live and thrive off
that body of the water and also people s water reserves. Also, there are farms and slaughterhouses
around communities such as some farms in North Carolina who spray the waste of the animals into
communities where the fecal bacteria and toxins from the animal will contaminate the water and make
the people sick from the smell of the bacteria. To fix this problem, farmers can find

Class Obervation on Reading Comprehension Skills
Class Observation and Report
I met the instructor before class to discuss overall goals as well as goals for that day s lesson. The
overall goal of the course is to improve reading comprehension skills, increase math problem solving
skills, and develop a strong ability to combine the two and further discussion skills. The goal of that
day s lesson was to work on reading strategies: scanning, identifying main ideas, and understanding
details of different math word problems and equations. The instructor mentioned that there are only 10
people in the class and almost all of them are between the ages of 11 12. They are all at pretty much
the same reading level, although there is some slight variation. Specifically though, in her fourth
period class, one student had a tremendous difficulty in reading and understanding word problems and
them translating those words into numbers and equations.
In one activity the instructor starts the class by picking up one math assignment that was due and they
check three other math assignments together. All of the students call out the answers in unison. The
unit they had just ended was on integers and they were just beginning their unit on equations and
eventually into inequalities. Then she hands out flash cards with five discussion questions that pertain
to the topic of equations and inequalities, for example What do you think an equation is? and Why
would you ever need to use one? Students get into groups of two to discuss their

William Shakespeare s The Twelfth Night original text and Trevor Nunn s filmed version were both
well crafted works highlighting the director s point of view. Shakespeare s original work introduced
the reader to a worded text that would have numerous embedded narratives which help deepen the

imperfect scenarios were given specific characteristics throughout the film version eloquently
allowing Shakespeare s original text objectives to move forward without a wrinkle. Nunn allowed his

Demise of the Weimar Republic
The demise of the Weimar Republic did not occur due to one sole reason, but because of a number of
short and long term factors. The economic, political and international pressure placed on the people of
Germany ensured the loathing of the forced governmental rule. The immediate impact of the Great
Depression of 1929, which has been debated and considered by most historians to be the dominant
factor in the downfall of the democratic experiment which subsequently led to continuous political
instability ultimately saw the collapse of the first democratic government of Germany.

constitutional powers. Historian David Martin states that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Before the US dollar has been 4.2 marks, by 1920 it was worth 64.8 marks thus German taxation
increased. Anyone with access to even a few pounds became a trillionaires over night. The losers of
the hyperinflation were those with a fixed income, the working class, people living off their savings
and wage earners. By June 1923, the government had lost control of the economy, as strikes swepped
the country as workers protested about the rising unemployment and the failure of their wages to keep
up with the cost of living. In August, the govenment finally fell, with President Ebert called for the
leader of the German people party, Streseman, to form a new party. He formed the great coalition
which brought together left and right wing. In the next six years, German society picked up with the
induction into the League of Nations, the Dawes plan of 1924 which provided foreign loans to
Germany and the Young Plan which saw the reduction in Germany s reparation figure by 95 million.
The downside of Germany s new economic prosperity meant that society was living off borrowed
money and was over dependant on foreign loans and investment. The economic power was
concentrated in the hands of influential industrialists and bankers and employment was still on the
rise. Within these six years, the Weimar republic surprisingly enjoyed a period of relative political
stability.

Pros And Disadvantages Of ORM Impedence Mismatching
When to non relate
While relational databases are great, they do come with trade offs. One of those is ORM Impedence
Mismatching, because relational databases were not initially created with the OOP languages in mind.
The best way to avoid this issue is to create your database schema with referential integrity at its core.
So, when using a relational database with an OOP (like Ruby), you have to think about how to set up
your primary and foreign keys, the use of constraints (including the cascade delete and update), and
how you write your migrations.
But, if you re dealing with a phenomenally huge amount of data, it can be way too tedious, and the
probability of error (in the form of an ORM Impedance Mismatch issue) increases. In that situation ...

This means you need to perform multiple queries and join the data manually within your code and that
can get very ugly, very fast.
Since Mongo doesn t automatically treat operations as transactions the way a relational database does,
you must manually choose to create a transaction and then manually verify it, manually commit it or
roll it back. Even the documentation on the MongoDB site warns you that without taking some
potentially time consuming precautions, and since documents can be fairly complex and nested, the
success or failure of a database operation cannot be all or nothing. To put it simply, some operations
will succeed while others fail.
Of course, this all brings us back to the beginning; knowing how to ask exactly the right questions in
order to effectively whiteboard your data model. It s this key step that will allow you to determine the
best route for you regarding your application s flow. Taking the time to pinpoint the right questions
will serve as a solid guide when choosing the programming language to write your application in, and
the use of one particular database over

The Two Chinese Philosophies Of Confucianism
The two Chinese philosophies of Legalism and Confucianism could not be more opposite. Even
though two of the writers of Legalism were students of Xinzu, a philosopher of Confucianism, there
are more of differences than similarities between the two. Because of this, legalism, which preceded
the concept of Confucianism, had a lot of reasons why Confucianism was considered wrong. While
towards the fall of the Qin Dynasty, Confucian beliefs started to revamp and become more widely
accepted and thus they were blended together to some extent, this was not the case beforehand, in fact
it could be argued that blending the two together seemed almost impossible. Confucianism stressed
the ideas of the knowledge, humaneness, and filial piety while legalism stressed power, rewards and
punishments, and agricultural wealth. Thus from a legalist standpoint, Confucianism was considered
wrong because it placed value on virtues instead of the laws, focusing on education to prosper growth
and moral character instead of simply obeying societal laws and valuing agricultural wealth rather
than humaneness Thus differences far exceed similarities between these two ancient beliefs. However,
both have made everlasting marks on Chinese culture and tradition that to this day still exists.
Here is my suggestion for a more succinct and focused intro, deleting what you have above:

Using Parallel Processing For Large Scale Database Analysis
Modern Data Centers always interested in the new technology for various web search analysis, web

processing for large scale database analysis, so the MapReduce is one of new technology to get
amounts of data, perform massive computation, and extract critical knowledge out of big data for
business intelligence, proper analysis of large scale of datasets, it requires accurate input output
capacity from the large server systems to perform and analyze weblog data which is derived from two
steps called mapping and reducing. Between these two steps, MapReduce requires a on important
phase called shuffling phase which exchange the intermediate data. So at the point of data shuffling,
by physically changing the location(moving) segments of intermediate data across disks, causes major
I/O contention and generate the Input/Output problem such as large power consumption, high heat
generation which accounts for a large portion of the operating cost of data centers in analyzing such
big data. So in this synopsis we introduce the new virtual shuffling approach to enable well organized
data movement and reduce I/O problem for MapReduce shuffling, thereby reducing power
consumption and conserving energy. Virtual shuffling is achieved through a combination of three
techniques including a three level segment table, near demand merging, and dynamic and balanced

Argumentative Essay On White Privilege
White Privilege? While in history there has been social and cultural segregation where people who
have white privilege are given more of an advantage, but I do not believe that still holds true to this
day. I am not going to deny that in the past people who were white did have more privilege then those
who were of color. Although, I strongly disagree with white privilege being as prominent as some
would like to believe. In our class discussion, it was mentioned how whites still have privilege over
people who are colored. To an extent and through some aspects, whites may have have advantage.
However, if people were to examine privilege closer it would see that colored people are more
privileged then they would like to believe. Looking at University of Northern Colorado itself, it can be
seen that there are many students who have mixed racial background. However, merely because of
their race background they are given benefits that I would not because I am white. It took me aback
when I saw that there is a sorority and fraternity on this campus that was only for people who are
historically black. Now if they were to have a white sorority or fraternity on this campus too, they
would be considered to be racists for not allowing people of color to join in their group. However, for
some reason it is perfectly alright to have a black sorority and fraternity. Furthermore, when looking at
scholarships, it can be seen that people can get scholarships for their race. I had a peer from my high

Edward Richer Essay
Gerhard Richer (1932~) is a German artist who is unique for not conforming to a particular movement
or having his own artistic style. However, his works have been influenced by many art movements and
styles, including Abstract Expressionism, Pop art, Minimalism, and Conceptualism. He was trained to
paint a traditional realist art style in early years under the oppressive East German communist regime,
banned from exposure to American Pop art and other contemporary art (1). Thus he often explored
figurative expression or representation of subjects, until his exposure to abstract art in West Germany
introduced him to an approach to art that was much more expressive of life and its realities (1). He
first started drawing landscapes in the late ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are a couple of elements that set his painting apart from Friedrich s; that it has a surrealist
element, and that Richter values the characteristics of modern art, meaning that the artwork does not
focus on how to most imitate a subject most faithfully ( realistically ) but to capture the essence of it.
The surrealist element in particular is significant when placed side by side with the traditional style of
landscape painting, because his choice not to completely disassociate it with the orthodox is what
allows it to emphasize the surreality of the piece (4). It is also set apart from romantic paintings by
nature s indifference . The artwork has a lack of sympathy for the viewer s search for something to
relate or connect to in the painting which links to its function and purpose. Sea Sea is are particularly
significant work for being a sort of stepping stone for Richter. On one hand, we see how his
background of being trained to paint in a traditionalist realistic painting style has influenced his
photorealistic style, but on the other, his desire to move into a more expressive form of art as the
discomfiting element and the inhuman detachment of Sea Sea

The Persecution Of Jews From Death And Labor Camps
There was no choice. Schindler said these words, reflecting on his moral decision to save over 1000
Jews from death and labor camps. He knew there was a right way, and also a wrong way, morally, and
that he had no other option. For other industrialists in Schindler s position, it wasn t as easy a choice.
During the Third Reich, German industrialists had a moral decision to make: whether to cooperate
with the Nazis and profit from the persecution of Jews, or to resist and risk their lives and fortune. The
Nazis created laws in order to persecute Jews, which contributed to the industrialists decisions. In
1939, Jews were made to wear identifying stars, and they were forced to live together in isolated
ghettos. In the next few years, more laws were passed inflicting pain and cruelty upon Jews. Then, the
Nazis moved beyond persecution, and threatened Jewish people s jobs and economic stability. First,
Jews had to register their property, and then, their privately owned businesses were sold to non Jewish
German industrialists at a very low price. When their companies were sold, all of their managers and
employees were kicked out. Later, once Jews were forced to work in non Jewish Germans factories, a
rule was passed in the spring of 1940, declaring that the wages of all the Jewish workers went directly
to the SS, instead of the actual workers. Soon after, everyone except for work essential Jews had to
leave the city, causing every Jew to desperately try to find

Socrates And Niccolo Machiavelli
Essay 1: Socrates and Machiavelli
Although Socrates and Niccolo Machiavelli lived in different time periods, the political climate that
their philosophies were founded on were very similar. The trial of Socrates began after the
Peloponnesian War when the new Spartan Tyranny took over the Athenian government. Socrates was
accused of corrupting the youth and disrespecting the gods by the Spartan government. In the eyes of
the Spartan government Socrates is a gadfly because of his posing of upsetting questions directed at
authorities. This posed a major threat to the new society they were trying to create in Athens after the
war was over. Plato wrote The Apology and Crito from the perspective of Socrates after he was put on
trial, found ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He believed that the sovereign is primarily judged based on his success and not on the process he took
to get there or the characteristics he displays. Socrates on the other hand would question the nobles
until they felt inferior and encourage the government to become more virtuous, a suggestion that
Machiavelli says his Prince would shut down: it is necessary that he should be prudent enough to
avoid the scandal of those vices which would lose him the state, and guard himself if able to, he can
indulge them with less scruple (Machiavelli 57). Machiavelli believes that in some cases it is better to
harbor bad characteristics if it means protecting the state, adding to his point that the ends justify the
means. Socrates was a firm believer that the pursuit of truth and perfecting the soul outweighed the
privileges of being the wealthy and honorable leader that Machiavelli describes. Socrates believed that
extra riches would not bring extra happiness and the only real knowledge is that we know nothing. No
body or ruler is truly wise or wealthy of knowledge until they admit that they really know nothing,
start to ask questions and get educated on matters that they are unfamiliar with. Only then will the
aristocrats and rulers truly be able to be successful in leading a democratic society.
Machiavelli s Prince uses the laws of society and his power to control the population just enough so
they didn t feel like they were being

The Language Of Egypt And The Egyptian Language
Egypt s Language In A.D. 639 Egypt was conquered by the Muslim Rashidun army. Before this had
happened Egypt s language was Coptic which had developed from Ancient Egypt. Coptic was the
language for almost all of the population in Egypt. But, this language came to an end when by the
twelfth century when it was replaced by the Arabic language. Even after this language was replaced
the Coptic Orthodox church still used it instead of the Arabic language. The Arabic language has
become the main language of Egyptian christian and Muslim. This language has been unchanged since
the seventh century. However, the written language has changed the modern forms of style and the
language is simpler than in original Arabic and are often the same as English or French. (Home)
Religion in Egypt Most of the population of Egypt practices Islam. It originated from the country
which is now called Saudi Arabia (Home). Muhammad, the prophet, is seen in their religion as the last
of God s missionaries to bring the revelation to humankind. He was chosen to provide a message for
everyone instead of just certain people. Muhammad is known to have provided the Quran, just like
Jesus is known for providing the bible so his followers can read his word and become spiritually
closer. This book, the Quran, is also known to be the foundation for all discipline in Islam, just like the
bible is the foundation for christianity.
Respect and Honor in Egypt Honor is an important role in relationships.

  • 2. Stono Rebellion Essay The Stono Rebellion was at the time the biggest slave rebellion to ever take place in the American colonies. It came at a time when owning slaves was one of the accepted things in the colonies and the colonists depended on the labor the slaves were doing. Some colonies entire economies depended on it. In South Carolina, there were more slaves than free men in the colony. This was because of the African slave trade. It was the constant trade to get slaves which made the colonists depend on slave labor. Slave labor was so profitable, most slave owners treated their slaves as property. Beatings, starvation, and overworking were common practices on the plantations. The slave owners didn t care because they were making money from the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Twenty whites and forty four slaves were killed in the fight at Edisto River. The group of slaves retreated but the militia were able to get other local militia s to join in the fight with them. In addition, remaining local slave owners warned and threatened their own slaves that if they even considered joining the rebellion, they would be punished. The militia and the slave group fought for over a week. The conflict finally ended with the surrendering of the slave group. After the slaves surrendered, the remaining members of the slaves that rebelled were hung for their crimes. These slaves were made an example to all other slaves, making them not even want to attempt to rebel in the future. This rebellion led to much harsher slave codes that were enforced in the colony. It also restricted the slaves so much that it meant that they could not go anywhere without their owners permission at any time. The Negro Act of 1740 was passed which prohibited enslaved people from growing their own food, assembling in groups, earning money they, rather than their owners, could retain or learning to read. (The Black Past.org) The legacy that the Stono Rebellion had and still does have to this day is that it ended up setting back the relations of blacks and whites in the state for years. This conflict ended up reigniting tensions between the races that up to that point were not all that high. The rebellion also made slavery last longer in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In 2017, 81 percent of U.S. Americans had an online networking profile, representing a five percent development contrasted with the earlier year ( ). Social networking in the working environment can be an important apparatus for organizations. It can, in turn, cause significant issues at work. Bosses are confronted with the need to create online networking approaches that enable the organization to receive the positive rewards of social networking use while limiting the negative impacts. Issues happen when workers take advantage of work web access for individual use amid work hours. Managers must choose if the utilization of web based social networking exceeds the potential for negative effects. Managers are concerned that social media can become a distraction during working hours. Employees can become lost in time while on social media taking away from valuable productivity. Social media can also be valuable to the organization as a promotional tool to reach out to new clients. An advantage of online networking in the work environment is that it can be used as an advertising tool for organizations. It enables a measure of straightforwardness to the organization through posts, sites, and pictures and makes the organization less demanding to identify with for the normal shopper. • 7. Sewing Is An Art That I Have It Sewing is an art that I have yet to master. As a Fashion Merchandising major, it is better to be safe than sorry. Meaning, the more crafting skills you possess, the better. Missing out on career opportunities due to lack of skills is not acceptable for me. I aim to gain vast amounts of knowledge of the creation process of fashion through this project. When people first started to wear clothing, about 60,000 years ago, they did not sew at all. They wrapped themselves in leather and furs to cover up. When people first began living in Central Asia, where the temperatures usually were lower, people wanted stronger clothing. They began to use sharp pointed sticks or stone tools called awls (pronounced OLLS) to poke holes in their clothes so they could run the cords through the clothes instead of just around them. They used the awls to poke the end of the cord through the holes, too. Both Neanderthals and modern people used awls this way (K.E. CARR). In the 20th century, sewing machines became more affordable to the working class. Therefore, the demand for sewing patterns increased. Textile industries in Western countries have declined as textile industries compete for cheaper labor in other parts of the globe. According to the U.S. Department of Labor employment of sewers and tailors is expected to experience little or no change, growing 1 perfect from 2010 to 2020 . Fed up with the secrecy, Portia decides to speak out boldly to her husband, while completely disregarding the quiet, respectful and subservient role that was placed on women at that time. Do you feel that throughout the first few days during Pi s survival on the lifeboat, Pi continues to exhibit and carry through religion based procedures to calm and assist him in his means of survival? From the very start it is revealed to us that Piscine Molitor Patel is extremely passionate about religion. In fact, the entire introduction and first part of the novel revolves around Pi expressing his love for all types of religion, and describing his beliefs for each and every one of them (Hinduism, Islam, Christianity). Pi talks about everyone s confusion on which religion he supports, as they believe, one can support only one religion. What is your son doing going to the temple? Your son was seen in church crossing himself. On the lifeboat, during the first few days at sea, Pi completely forgets about all of his prayers. I believe that this is because Pi completely loses his faith when he is the only one to survive out of his family, and he is on a tiny life boat with a huge Bengal tiger, and a hyena. Du Bois s criticism of Claude McKay s text seemingly speaks from an essentialist perspective. Du Bois simply found that McKay s representation of black culture within his novel reproduced stereotypical and crude images which white audiences desired in the midst of the Harlem Renaissance. In response to Du Bois, McKay argued that the novel was created for a black audience, but, to delve even deeper outside of Claude McKay s views, it could be argued that Home to Harlem does not produce a single identity at all. Rather, Home to Harlem s perpetual mobility and movement invests in the idea of black identity as production rather than as the exhibition of a collective one true self ... Thus, the picaresque novel employment of the episodic form is vital for Home to Harlem as it allows for the motif of movement to be used for its potential. Not only that, though, but it can easily be inferred that Claude McKay designed his novel to be structured in such a way with a degree of intentionality. Specifically though, in her fourth period class, one student had a tremendous difficulty in reading and understanding word problems and them translating those words into numbers and equations. In one activity the instructor starts the class by picking up one math assignment that was due and they check three other math assignments together. All of the students call out the answers in unison. The unit they had just ended was on integers and they were just beginning their unit on equations and eventually into inequalities. Then she hands out flash cards with five discussion questions that pertain to the topic of equations and inequalities, for example What do you think an equation is? and Why would you ever need to use one? • 30. Twelfth Night Comparative Essay William Shakespeare s The Twelfth Night original text and Trevor Nunn s filmed version were both well crafted works highlighting the director s point of view. Shakespeare s original work introduced the reader to a worded text that would have numerous embedded narratives which help deepen the interest in the plot moving forward. For instance, light vs. dark, good vs. evil, and perfect vs. imperfect scenarios were given specific characteristics throughout the film version eloquently allowing Shakespeare s original text objectives to move forward without a wrinkle. Nunn allowed his unaligned and nonchronological sequence to somehow meet Shakespeare s original text in the end intact with its original integrity. The filmed version s first ... The manipulation of Malvolio s emotion that was mastered by Maria and Sir toby would allow Malvolio who seemed dark and monotone in the original text allowed to show his lighter side in the visual version of this work. Having a visual allows the audience to see the shift from Malvolio s tunnel vision and straight laced restricted way of living to a person whom seemed to be set free through his delightful dancing in gratitude of what he thought being Viola s love for him. Feste sings a song in the end that is written in the original text and translated into a visual form in the filmed version, but Nunn placed the fool as he was in the first scene allowing the story to come full circle in the end. The fool seem to identify with the broader perspective of the story. The economic, political and international pressure placed on the people of Germany ensured the loathing of the forced governmental rule. The immediate impact of the Great Depression of 1929, which has been debated and considered by most historians to be the dominant factor in the downfall of the democratic experiment which subsequently led to continuous political instability ultimately saw the collapse of the first democratic government of Germany. Anyone with access to even a few pounds became a trillionaires over night. The losers of the hyperinflation were those with a fixed income, the working class, people living off their savings and wage earners. By June 1923, the government had lost control of the economy, as strikes swepped the country as workers protested about the rising unemployment and the failure of their wages to keep up with the cost of living. In August, the govenment finally fell, with President Ebert called for the leader of the German people party, Streseman, to form a new party. He formed the great coalition which brought together left and right wing. In the next six years, German society picked up with the induction into the League of Nations, the Dawes plan of 1924 which provided foreign loans to Germany and the Young Plan which saw the reduction in Germany s reparation figure by 95 million. The downside of Germany s new economic prosperity meant that society was living off borrowed money and was over dependant on foreign loans and investment. The economic power was concentrated in the hands of influential industrialists and bankers and employment was still on the rise. Within these six years, the Weimar republic surprisingly enjoyed a period of relative political stability. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Pros And Disadvantages Of ORM Impedence Mismatching When to non relate While relational databases are great, they do come with trade offs. One of those is ORM Impedence Mismatching, because relational databases were not initially created with the OOP languages in mind. The best way to avoid this issue is to create your database schema with referential integrity at its core. So, when using a relational database with an OOP (like Ruby), you have to think about how to set up your primary and foreign keys, the use of constraints (including the cascade delete and update), and how you write your migrations. But, if you re dealing with a phenomenally huge amount of data, it can be way too tedious, and the probability of error (in the form of an ORM Impedance Mismatch issue) increases. In that situation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This means you need to perform multiple queries and join the data manually within your code and that can get very ugly, very fast. Since Mongo doesn t automatically treat operations as transactions the way a relational database does, you must manually choose to create a transaction and then manually verify it, manually commit it or roll it back. Even the documentation on the MongoDB site warns you that without taking some potentially time consuming precautions, and since documents can be fairly complex and nested, the success or failure of a database operation cannot be all or nothing. To put it simply, some operations will succeed while others fail. Of course, this all brings us back to the beginning; knowing how to ask exactly the right questions in order to effectively whiteboard your data model. It s this key step that will allow you to determine the best route for you regarding your application s flow. Even though two of the writers of Legalism were students of Xinzu, a philosopher of Confucianism, there are more of differences than similarities between the two. Because of this, legalism, which preceded the concept of Confucianism, had a lot of reasons why Confucianism was considered wrong. While towards the fall of the Qin Dynasty, Confucian beliefs started to revamp and become more widely accepted and thus they were blended together to some extent, this was not the case beforehand, in fact it could be argued that blending the two together seemed almost impossible. Confucianism stressed the ideas of the knowledge, humaneness, and filial piety while legalism stressed power, rewards and punishments, and agricultural wealth. Thus from a legalist standpoint, Confucianism was considered wrong because it placed value on virtues instead of the laws, focusing on education to prosper growth and moral character instead of simply obeying societal laws and valuing agricultural wealth rather than humaneness Thus differences far exceed similarities between these two ancient beliefs. However, both have made everlasting marks on Chinese culture and tradition that to this day still exists. Between these two steps, MapReduce requires a on important phase called shuffling phase which exchange the intermediate data. So at the point of data shuffling, by physically changing the location(moving) segments of intermediate data across disks, causes major I/O contention and generate the Input/Output problem such as large power consumption, high heat generation which accounts for a large portion of the operating cost of data centers in analyzing such big data. So in this synopsis we introduce the new virtual shuffling approach to enable well organized data movement and reduce I/O problem for MapReduce shuffling, thereby reducing power consumption and conserving energy. Virtual shuffling is achieved through a combination of three techniques including a three level segment table, near demand merging, and dynamic and balanced merging subtrees. Our ... While in history there has been social and cultural segregation where people who have white privilege are given more of an advantage, but I do not believe that still holds true to this day. I am not going to deny that in the past people who were white did have more privilege then those who were of color. Although, I strongly disagree with white privilege being as prominent as some would like to believe. In our class discussion, it was mentioned how whites still have privilege over people who are colored. To an extent and through some aspects, whites may have have advantage. However, if people were to examine privilege closer it would see that colored people are more privileged then they would like to believe. Looking at University of Northern Colorado itself, it can be seen that there are many students who have mixed racial background. However, merely because of their race background they are given benefits that I would not because I am white. It took me aback when I saw that there is a sorority and fraternity on this campus that was only for people who are historically black. Now if they were to have a white sorority or fraternity on this campus too, they would be considered to be racists for not allowing people of color to join in their group. However, for some reason it is perfectly alright to have a black sorority and fraternity. Furthermore, when looking at scholarships, it can be seen that people can get scholarships for their race. He knew there was a right way, and also a wrong way, morally, and that he had no other option. For other industrialists in Schindler s position, it wasn t as easy a choice. During the Third Reich, German industrialists had a moral decision to make: whether to cooperate with the Nazis and profit from the persecution of Jews, or to resist and risk their lives and fortune. The Nazis created laws in order to persecute Jews, which contributed to the industrialists decisions. In 1939, Jews were made to wear identifying stars, and they were forced to live together in isolated ghettos. In the next few years, more laws were passed inflicting pain and cruelty upon Jews. Then, the Nazis moved beyond persecution, and threatened Jewish people s jobs and economic stability. First, Jews had to register their property, and then, their privately owned businesses were sold to non Jewish German industrialists at a very low price. When their companies were sold, all of their managers and employees were kicked out. Later, once Jews were forced to work in non Jewish Germans factories, a rule was passed in the spring of 1940, declaring that the wages of all the Jewish workers went directly to the SS, instead of the actual workers. Socrates was accused of corrupting the youth and disrespecting the gods by the Spartan government. In the eyes of the Spartan government Socrates is a gadfly because of his posing of upsetting questions directed at authorities. Socrates on the other hand would question the nobles until they felt inferior and encourage the government to become more virtuous, a suggestion that Machiavelli says his Prince would shut down: it is necessary that he should be prudent enough to avoid the scandal of those vices which would lose him the state, and guard himself if able to, he can indulge them with less scruple (Machiavelli 57). Machiavelli believes that in some cases it is better to harbor bad characteristics if it means protecting the state, adding to his point that the ends justify the means.
