North Yarmouth Multi-Media Communication Case Study
North Yarmouth has accepted the challenges of today s multi media communication platforms so as to
improve communications with town residents. This has included Facebook, webpage, and video
broadcasts. Given the complexities, the town staff and members of the Communication Committee
have done a commendable job. During the past year there have been inquiries and complaints about
the video transmission of town meeting. This has ranged from regular Board of Selectmen meetings to
special workshops held at North Yarmouth Memorial School. These issues have different causes and
suggest different solutions. This report will attempt to summarize this topic. Poor audio: There has

This does not allow for a view of the audience. This could be rectified by using a stand up camera that

The Information Status Of The Information Technology...
Abstract
The analysis will pose a good go ahead in the industry and it will eliminate the possibility of too much
theorization. The main aim of the paper is to avoid the problem of too much theory about the fore
mentioned ITIL. The data that will be used will be usable will be mainly from the survey of the
companies which are in the Nordic region. (Cartel, 2015)
The research focuses on the investigation of the implementation of the information status of the
Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL).This research poses an advantage of
investigating the implementation of the ITIL functions and processes and the impact it has on the
implementation in the real life situations.

The software tools are based on the module programs most commonly each ITIL process is assigned
one module for efficiency and keeping track. The software is divided into three types namely
Gold

The above categorized types of software tools are divided on the basis of the height of the level of
their compliances to the ITIL functions and needs. The main achievement was that42 softwares were
licensed to operate and work to promote the services in the information technology world. Based on
the open software many companies are on a rise to develop their own software and this is a positive
step worthy acknowledging
Introduction of the implementation of ITIL involves more than just words to make it a success, so
many tools are involved besides the model itself, which include the software tool for ITIL and
management of the whole project as a whole. The main purpose of the software tool is to keep track of
the cases which are handled by different types of processes. They are also used for logging of the

Crime And Violence In Latin America
Over the last two decades, many Latin American countries have seen crime and violence increase
considerably; in some nations, this upward trajectory has been steep. During the 1980s, homicide rates
per 100,000 population rose from 20.5 to 89.5 in Colombia; from 11.5 to 19.7 in
Brazil; from 2.1 to 12.6 in Trinidad and Tobago; and from 2.4 to 11.5 in Peru (Ayres 1998: 3). In the
1990s, this upsurge of crime continued. In Venezuela, for instance, rates of homicide per
100,00 population increased from 12.6 in 1990 to 33 in 2000; the increase since 1997, when this rate
stood at 19 per 100,000, has been particularly pronounced. In Brazil, rates of homicide increased from
18.6 per 100,000 in 1990 and a low point of 15.6 in 1992 to 25 in 1999. And

Buddhism As A Mere Alternative To Buddhism In The Fifth...
Buddhism As a mere alternative to Hinduism, Buddhism emerged in the fifth century to overcome the
empty perception in the main religion of the time. It was started by an Indian prince named Siddhartha
Gautama (later known as the Buddha ) who left his royal life to find Enlightenment. This man s
journey was the starting point of a religion that has become one of the world s biggest and most
popular. In the beginnings, Buddhism was started singlehandedly by Siddhartha Gautama, an Indian
prince who was the son of Queen Maha Maya, Mahapajapati Gotami, and King Śuddhodana. He was
born in Lumbini (present day Nepal) during the fifth century BCE. According to Buddhist tradition,
Siddhartha lived a wealthy and comfortable life as a prince until at one point, he left on a journey and
was horrified at the sight of four people suffering of old age, illness, poverty, and death. At the age of
29, after witnessing their sufferings, he decided to leave his family in an attempt to seek
enlightenment through self discipline, or asceticism, but even his most intense asceticism didn t bring
him enlightenment. He then sat under a tree for 49 days vowing not to move until he had reached
enlightenment. He came out as the Buddha, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Replicating bad behaviour:
The effects that field training officers have on police recruit behavior According to Sir Robert Peel,
the founding father of modern policing, The power of the police to fulfill their functions and duties is
dependent upon public approval of their existence, actions, and behaviours and on their ability to
secure and maintain public trust (Loader, 2016, p. 429). This statement signifies the critical
importance of field training officers as, according to Sun (2014), who exist as a focal point for the

Biblical Analysis Of Mary Shelley s Frankenstein

AP Literature

Biblical Analysis: Frankenstein
Frankenstein by Mary Shelley often refers to the bible on a number of occasions. However, it is worth
noting that many references used by Mary Shelley in Frankenstein can often be identified in Genesis.
Much like Genesis, the story of Frankenstein is a viable creation story. The book of Genesis first
explains the creation of man and woman, and also recounts the fall of humanity. Unlike Genesis,
Frankenstein begins with the fall of humanity, leading into the creation of man. Although it would be
simple to compare the novel to such non religious terms, the religious symbolism cannot be ignored in
Frankenstein. Many biblical references within Frankenstein refer to the creation story in the first book
of Genesis.
Because you have listened to the voice of your wife and have eaten of the tree of which I commanded
you, You shall not eat of it, cursed is the ground because of you (Genesis 3: 17 19). In the book of
Genesis, Adam and Eve are punished for taking from the tree of knowledge. The event that is
presented in Genesis involving Adam and Eve strongly correlates to the first volume of Frankenstein.
Driven by his mother s death, Frankenstein looks to science in order to combat the death and illness
that surrounds him. His acquisition of this scientifical knowledge leads to the creation of a horrible
being. By creating life, he is able to attain the knowledge and

Ethnic Demonstrations Of Indonesi The Toraja
There are numerous ethnic gatherings in Indonesia .One of them is the Toraja in South Sulawesi .The
word Toraja originates from the bugis dialect to raja significance meaning individuals of the uplands

toraja there is still religion called aluk todolo this runs nearby muslim and Christianity .In this article I
will inspect the torajan rituals and customs around myth, death and ancestor worship.
Toraja is roughly 3,180 square kilometers, initially intensely forested, has been changed by

method for subsistence is farming. Rice, cassava, and maize are the staples; espresso and cloves are
the vital money crops. (Bigalke,1981;13)Creature cultivation is practiced on a vast scale, however just
the rearing of pigs is of financial significance. The bison, a grown up toy, is once in a while utilised

Strengths And Weaknesses Of Sabre

Sabre is US market leader and offers a wide range on airline IT products. Its strategy focuses on
acquisition and partnerships in order to release new solutions quickly. Furthermore, they are re
packaging their products to offer bundled booking tools for an attractive prices. Sabre has created a
positive reputation for its approach to innovation (with some justification) and this has helped to boost
its relative (to the market) share valuation.
The main strengths of sabre is their brand, US market position, large focus on traveller centric
solutions and a strong marketing strategy. Whereas their weaknesses is rather small global penetration,
IT outsourcing, lengthy legal issues with AA in the US, large debt since buyout and very US mind set.

Sabre is second with 28%, and Travelport has 25% of market share. Amadeus has been progressively
gaining market share, mainly from Travelport, over the past 14 years, whereas Sabre has maintained
its share over this period. The reason for Amadeus increasing market share can be due to the higher
investments in R D, paying debt and better positioning in emerging markets. Source:
seekingalpha.com, 2015
As the matter of fact in 2013 Amadeus invested €505 million in R D to research and develop
technologies for use in the travel sector. This represented 16.3% of Amadeus revenues. Furthermore,
Amadeus total R D investment between the years 2004 and 2013 was almost €3 billion, playing a
significant role.
In terms of share price, Amadeus has also the strongest position.

A Study Of Female Writers Of Romantic Period
A Study of female writers of romantic period
Introduction:
Various types of literature are found from the advent of English literature. Before the romantic period,
there were various other periods like old English literature, middle English literature, English
renaissance, neo classical period etc. From the beginning we notice that there is an imbalance between
the male and female authors. Male writers are found more than the female writers. This imbalance is
also found in the romantic literature. Also it is seen that, though the majority writers are men, the
women are more interested in reading those piece of literature, compared to male. The romantic period
was an intellectual movement originated in Europe during the late 17th century. William Wordsworth
is considered to be as the father of romantic period in one hand, on the other hand William blake is
called the father of romantic period. The romantic period was basically a response to industrial
revolution. In this period, the writers wrote about nature, personal experiences, showed the negative
side of city life and put more importance on imagination. Metaphors, symbols are quite common in
this period of writing. In this research, I will try to find out the reasons behind the less number of
female writers in the romantic period, was it because their lack of skills, was it because the male
writers were dominating or they did write but it was not published or there are

Philosopher Karl Popper And Empirical Falsification
Philosopher Karl Popper is widely known for his rejection of classical inductivism, the idea that
scientific knowledge is derived only from observation, and also his support of empirical falsification,
the idea that scientific theories cannot be proven correct, but they can be proven false. In other words,
empirical falsification means that theories can and should be closely and thoroughly examined by
decisive experiments. In Popper s view, a claim must be falsifiable, or testable, in order for it to be
scientifically true; if a hypothesis cannot be refuted, then it is not a scientific claim. Untestable ideas
and theories within science are dubbed pseudo science by Popper, because they have no falsification.

Alternatively, the proclamation the Earth is flat is scientific because it can be proven to be false
through scientific investigation. Popper came up with the term Critical Rationalist , an expression to
describe his ideology. Critical rationalists believe that hypothesis and theories should be criticized in a
rational way and should be tested in a way that they can be proven to be false.
Popper was inspired to come up with his idea of falsification because of the many advances happening
in the Western scientific world while he was growing up in the early 1900 s. Growing up in this time,
Popper was intrigued by the psychoanalytic theories of Sigmund Freud and even attended lectures of
Albert Einstein about the rules of the universe. He noticed that these distinguished thinkers used
different methods within their work. Freud could make almost any piece of data work in favor of his
theory. To illustrate, he could explain someone s intimacy issues both in terms of not being hugged
enough as a child or in terms of being hugged too much. Evidence to support his claims were all
around. Contrary to Freud, Popper noticed that Einstein was making a different kind of prediction.
Instead of looking in the past to predict the present like Freud, he was looking ahead to predict things
in the future. Popper saw Einstein s method to be extremely risky because if the

There are many different ways in which individuals lead. Whether implicit or by choice, the style and
the way it is applied can lead to success or failure in the workplace. My boss and I approach
leadership in completely different ways. While my boss leans toward only a transactional style,
specifically Laissez faire, or management by exception, I prefer a combination of transactional and
translational styles. According to Robbins and Judge (2012), Laissez faire is the most passive and
therefore least effective of leader behaviors (Robbins Judge, 2012, p. 382). Additionally, management

Sight Word Bingo Game Analysis
Wednesday, January 4, 2017 /Sight Word Bingo/ 40 min
Before starting the game of Bingo, the teacher reviewed some of the trickier sight words such as funny
and play. Then the teacher instructed the students to do their best to search for the word. It was evident
they were familiar with the game because they set aside bingo chips and were prepared to play. As the
game began, the children were excited, but were able to keep up to find each word called. After about
two or three rounds, a student called out, BINGO! If a student won a round they flipped their card
around and played another round with different words. This was an effective way to have the students
who have already won, still play the game. The game s purpose was to review and implement new
sight words that the students were expected to know such as the word that `. When a student called out
BINGO, they needed to read their words to the class, which also assessed the child s fluency and
accuracy of reading the words by sight.

Understanding Heart Failure
Understanding Heart Failure
Heart failure is a condition in which the heart muscle is unable to pump enough blood through the
heart to meet the body s need for blood and oxygen. Coronary artery disease is a form of heart disease
that effects the chambers of the heart. There are four chambers in the heart. The upper chambers
consist of a right and a left atrium and the lower chamber consists of the right and left ventricles. The
flow of oxygen rich blood travels from the lungs to the left atrium and into the left ventricle where it is
pumped into the rest of the body. When the heart functions properly, all four chambers beat and pump
blood effectively in an organized way. The Virtual Medical Centre (Centre, 2008) newsletter states

Four Types Of Mayfly s Adaption
Suction: the force that, by a pressure differential, attracts a substance or object to the region of lower
pressure. Adaption 5 There are four different types of mayfly s: the swimmers, the clingers, the
burrowers, and the crawlers. All of these different types of mayfly s have physical adaptations on their
body to help them do the thing they were designed to do. This is an important adaptation because no
matter if it s swimming, clinging, crawling, or burrowing, all mayflies depend on the thing they re
good at to get food, hide, get away from predators, and thrive. The mayfly nymphs that depend on
swimming to live have flat body s and strong legs spread out from each side. Having a flat body help s
reduce the power of the stream and strong legs help push the mayfly forward when it swims. These
adaptations allow swimming mayfly s to fight against the water s current and move freely even in the
swiftest streams. Being fast in the water can also help these mayfly nymphs to escape from predators.
Some mayfly nymph species that are good at swimming are Baetis, Acentrella, and Isonychia
mayflies. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the end of each leg there is a claw that hooks onto the object that a mayfly is clinging to. The
clinging mayfly s in faster currents have more thick and short claws, which strongly clamp on the
submerged object they re hanging on. Other clinging mayflies like the genus Rhithrogena have
adapted further to water conditions and have claws like suction cups. These claws and strong legs help
mayfly s that cling to stay put in fast moving waters. Species of clinging mayfly nymphs include

Critical Commentary of Frantz Fanon
The issue of reading Fanon today, then, is perhaps not about finding the moment of relevance in Fanon
s text that corresponds with the world, but in searching for the moments where Fanon s text and the
world do not correspond, and asking how Fanon, the revolutionary, would think and act in the period
of retrogression.
A complete study of 1968 and its legacies in Europe can not solely deal with events that occurred on
the continent. 1968 was, in fact, a global phenomenon ; with ideas perpetrated in Europe reaching as
far as Mexico, China, and India, but to name a few . The beginning of this mutualistic relationship
between New Left groups on different continents (which spawned the revolutionary feeling which
would result in the events ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At first, the book attracted a considerable amount of attention purely because of its author. For the first
time a black anti colonial activist used a word coined by white French social scientists... in an
affirmative manner , arguably more affirmative than anyone had before . Certainly, Jean Paul Sartre,
who wrote the preface for The Wretched of the Earth and was one of Fanon s literary influences,
approved of his work, as Robert Bernasconi confirms in his piece Fanon s The Wretched of the Earth
as the Fulfilment of Sartre s Critique of Dialectical Reason, Sartre would have found The Wretched of
the Earth closer to the dialectical concrete than anything he had written . The backdrop to the book is
the seven yearlong Algerian War of Independence of which Fanon was a great supporter. A lot of the
theoretical concepts for dealing with the process of de colonisation that Fanon speaks of in
Concerning Violence are his recommendations to the nations of Algeria and Kenya, both of whom
were, during 1961 striving to gain independence from France and Britain. Motivated by, what he
deemed to be an urgent call for an international redistribution of wealth , Fanon calls for solidarity
among the rural masses, which he believes can only be gained through them and by violent means .
Rejecting the opulence of European powers as literally scandalous , Fanon establishes a

ABSTRACT
Watermarking is the process of embedding new data into image, audio or video. Digital Watermarking
technique is used to hide a secret or personal message to protect a products copyright or to
demonstrate data integrity. To provide double protection, after the watermarking process, the
watermarked image tends to go through an encryption process using CHAKRA symmetry key
encryption algorithm which encrypts the data with the concepts of Cartesian coordinate geometry and
circle generation. In this paper, we perform watermarking on different types of images like BMP,
JPEG etc.., and the input image is pre processed and converted into JPEG LS format which contains
enhanced quality.

Queen Elizabeth s Lasting Effect on Theater Essay
Queen Elizabeth s Lasting Effect on Theater
Queen Elizabeth came to be known as one of the greatest rulers of the English empire. Under the reign
of Queen Elizabeth I, a more efficient government was created. The church was unified, the English
empire was expanded, and language, literature, and theater flourished to a greatness that would be
impossible for almost any other period of English history, or any other European empire, for that
matter, to match. Although there was a great rise in literature,it was theater that catapulted to greatness
during Elizabeth s reign. Out of Elizabeth s era came Elizabethan theater. Elizabethan theater has such
a variety of topics, that would make it virtually impossible to talk about in ten pages. ... Show more

To the Queen s interest, some six to ten plays were given every winter at court and she saw many
others when in progress throughout the country or while attending weddings or banquets in London.
(Clunes 27) Within time, Elizabeth was awarding more performances in court. That is one of the ways
Elizabeth helped the theater arts to florish. The more performances that were given, the more theater
became popular, and the more the people of England wanted to see it. The Companies During the
Elizabethan Era many things emerged. Amongst them was the creation of Adult Companies.

Knowledge Management Strategy And Metrics
Knowledge Management Strategy Metrics Knowledge management often involves isolating and
planning intellectual assets within an organization, producing new knowledge for competitive
advantages within the organization, making vast amounts of corporate information accessible.
Knowledge management can be hard to interpret or explain. How would a nurse or doctor define
health care succinctly? How would a CEO explain management ? Each of these areas is very complex,
with many sub areas of specialization. This in turn leads to the question What is Knowledge
Management Strategy Metrics ?
What Is Knowledge? Some may ask, aren t we managing knowledge already? Truth is, no! We are
actually just making a really huge mess of managing information. Knowledge has two simple
explanations of interest. The first part deals with a defined body of information. Depending on the
meaning, the body of the information might consist of facts, opinions, ideas, theories, principles, and
models. Knowledge also refers to a person s state of being with respect to some body of information.
These states include; ignorance, awareness, familiarity, understanding, facility, and so on (Barclay, R.,
Murray, P. (1997). In traditional perceptions of the role of knowledge in business organizations, tacit
knowledge is often viewed as the real key to getting things done and creating new value. There are
two forms of knowledge that can be found in any organization:

Nokia s current CEO Steven Elop admitted that Nokia was not able to respond fast enough to the
changing market and that had resulted in significant decline in its market share. The technology moves
very quickly and it is difficult to predict market trends.
The direct competitors for Nokia includes all smartphone manufacturers, including but not limited to
Samsung, Apple, ZTE, LG, RIM, HTC, Google (Motorola), Huawei, and Sony Ericsson. With
Microsoft as a partner, Nokia also faces competition not only in term of physical devices, but also in
term of OS platform and the ecosystem.
It is possible that Amazon.com, with its Kindle devices, may enter the smartphone market at some
point in the future since the devices is not that different in term of technology. It is also possible that
an innovative product in development that performs many of the same functions as a smartphone such
as Google s Project Glass will disrupt the entire smartphone market.

Authority and the Individual Essay
Authority is necessary for law and order; however, individuals are bound to challenge their privileges
if oppressive rule restricts freedom and obstructs justice. Victimised individual s constant rebellion is
born from authority s oppressive control. To undermine independence, autocratic organisations use
manipulation to force individuals to disregard personal safety and yield to conformities, thus it is a
rarity for opposition. An individual s noncompliance to authoritative measures is explored in the film
In the Name of the Father, and the novel Nineteen Eighty Four, by George Orwell through the
respective concepts of injustice and psychological deceit.

Nineteen Eighty Four by George Orwell is a dystopian novel that follows the life of the
unconventional Winston Smith, in the cruel totalitarian superstate of Oceania. The English Socialist
Party s (INGSOC, government) extensive oligarchical nature is established in the opening scene
through symbolism and personification, BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING YOU. Big Brother, an
embodiment of the leader, evidently abuses power with omnipresent surveillance to perpetuate fear;
thus, it reflects a dictatorial regime and the desire to remove any opposing persons. It obliterates any
sense of privacy and safety. The paradoxical motif, issued by the Ministry of Truth, WAR IS PEACE
FREEDOM IS SLAVERY IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH, further denotes the overwhelming
influence authority exercises to indoctrinate its constitutes to accept diametrically contrasting
statements simultaneously as the truth. It is ironic that the Ministry of Truth exploits propaganda to
coerce public devotion, subsequently, quashing any notion of reluctance of disobedience. To express
his objective mind, Winston writes in his journal, Freedom is freedom to say that two plus two make
four. The journal is a symbol of his fight against false philosophies imposed upon society and
foreshadows the consequences of such

Does Playing Violent Video Games Promote Aggressive...
Introduction Violent video games are becoming more popular among children and adolescents of all
ages since its debut approximately 30 years ago. This growing popularity is generating an increasing
concern that these sometimes very graphic videos and life like characters can have a negative
influence on the younger generation. Although never proven, there has been speculation that some of
the high school shootings across the country were committed by students who were habitual players of
violent video games. Due to these concerns, a non profit, self regulatory organization was established
in 1994 by the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) to appropriately rate all video games

The first study by Lynch, Paul J., Gentile, Douglas A., Olson, Abbie A., Van Brederode, Tara M.
(2001) was conducted to determine the effects of violent video games on adolescent aggressive
attitudes and behaviors; had the participants of their study complete three surveys, the first being A
Video Game Habits Survey, which asked questions such as;
how often do you play video games?, What type of video games do you play?, How much violence do
you like in video games and are you aware of the game ratings? The second survey called The Hostile
Attributions Survey measures the participants perception of physical (harming someone physically)
and relational (harming someone through defamation) hostility by having participants read ten stories
and answering two questions about each story. The third survey is the Trait Hostility survey which
measures the personality trait of each participant. The second study discussed by Lee Suhn, Mickey
Barr, Rachel (2004), was conducted to determine the effects of violent video games on Prosocial and
antisocial behavior by actually having participants play non violent and violent video games while two
appointed observers were recording information such as; the name, age, gender and ethnicity of the
participant, the name of the game, level of violence, and check boxes for Prosocial and antisocial
behaviors. The third study, Ihori

Whirlpool Europe Case
Whirlpool Europe Analysis
The Whirlpool Europe case provides an opportunity to look at different ways to evaluate a major IT
investment the company is considering. To undertake this analysis we have to make a few assumptions
because the case does not have all the details needed to estimate benefits and investment cost.
However, if you were in a company faced with this situation, these numbers would be available.
The spreadsheet for Whirlpool contains two worksheets. Worksheet 1 is a net present value analysis,
and worksheet 2 applies an options pricing model to the decision.

My First Son Mutability
Poems during the renaissance age were used to show typical ideas from that era. One idea is
mutability. For example, Ben Jonson s On My First Son shows the theme of mutability, a very
common topic during the seventeenth century. This passage shows mutability in at least three ways.
First, the author states Farewell, thou child of my right hand, and joy , farewell is a term that is used
for goodbye. In this line the author is saying goodbye to his child who has died and will no longer be
with him. The author uses mutability to show the change from life to death. Second, the author yet
again uses mutability in the line And if no other misery, yet age? This line shows mutability by age.
Age is something that is always changing. The author

Essay about Mind And Machine
Mind and Machine: The Essay Technology has traditionally evolved as the result of human needs.
Invention, when prized and rewarded, will invariably rise up to meet the free market demands of
society. It is in this realm that Artificial Intelligence research and the resultant expert systems have
been forged. Much of the material that relates to the field of Artificial Intelligence deals with human
psychology and the nature of consciousness. Exhaustive debate on consciousness and the possibilities
of consciousnessness in machines has adequately, in my opinion, revealed that it is most unlikely that
we will ever converse or interract with a machine of artificial consciousness. In John Searle s
collection of lectures, Minds, Brains and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Proposition four is where the ends will meet the means. It purports that when we are able to finally
understand the brain, we will be able to duplicate its functions. Thus, if we replicate the computational
power of the mind, we will then understand it. Through argument and experimentation, Searle is able
to refute or severely diminish these propositions. Searle argues that machines may well be able to
quot;understand quot; syntax, but not the semantics, or meaning communicated thereby. Esentially, he
makes his point by citing the famous quot;Chinese Room Thought Experiment. quot; It is here he
demonstrates that a quot;computer quot; (a non chinese speaker, a book of rules and the chinese
symbols) can fool a native speaker, but have no idea what he is saying. By proving that entities don t
have to understand what they are processing to appear as understanding refutes proposition one.
Proposition two is refuted by the simple fact that there are no artificial minds or mind like devices.
Proposition two is thus a matter of science fiction rather than a plausible theory A good chess
program, like my (as yet undefeated) Chessmaster 4000 Trubo refutes proposition three by passing a
Turing test. It appears to be intelligent, but I know it beats me through number crunching and symbol
manipulation. The Chessmaster 4000 example is also an adequate refutation of Professor Simon s
fourth proposition: quot;you can understand a process if you can reproduce

During the past year there have been inquiries and complaints about the video transmission of town meeting. Poor quality audience viewing in the basement room: The room s configuration is awkward. Presently only two fixed cameras are used. This does not allow for a view of the audience. This could be rectified by using a stand up camera that the town does own. Rosemary will ask a TV production professional his opinion. • 5. Buddhism As A Mere Alternative To Buddhism In The Fifth... Buddhism As a mere alternative to Hinduism, Buddhism emerged in the fifth century to overcome the empty perception in the main religion of the time. It was started by an Indian prince named Siddhartha Gautama (later known as the Buddha ) who left his royal life to find Enlightenment. This man s journey was the starting point of a religion that has become one of the world s biggest and most popular. In the beginnings, Buddhism was started singlehandedly by Siddhartha Gautama, an Indian prince who was the son of Queen Maha Maya, Mahapajapati Gotami, and King Śuddhodana. He was born in Lumbini (present day Nepal) during the fifth century BCE. According to Buddhist tradition, Siddhartha lived a wealthy and comfortable life as a prince until at one point, he left on a journey and was horrified at the sight of four people suffering of old age, illness, poverty, and death. At the age of 29, after witnessing their sufferings, he decided to leave his family in an attempt to seek enlightenment through self discipline, or asceticism, but even his most intense asceticism didn t bring him enlightenment. • 7. Biblical Analysis Of Mary Shelley s Frankenstein Alexandria Harris Mrs. Mitchell AP Literature 16 November 2015 Biblical Analysis: Frankenstein Frankenstein by Mary Shelley often refers to the bible on a number of occasions. However, it is worth noting that many references used by Mary Shelley in Frankenstein can often be identified in Genesis. Much like Genesis, the story of Frankenstein is a viable creation story. The book of Genesis first explains the creation of man and woman, and also recounts the fall of humanity. Unlike Genesis, Frankenstein begins with the fall of humanity, leading into the creation of man. Although it would be simple to compare the novel to such non religious terms, the religious symbolism cannot be ignored in Frankenstein. Many biblical references within Frankenstein refer to the creation story in the first book of Genesis. Because you have listened to the voice of your wife and have eaten of the tree of which I commanded you, You shall not eat of it, cursed is the ground because of you (Genesis 3: 17 19). In the book of Genesis, Adam and Eve are punished for taking from the tree of knowledge. The event that is presented in Genesis involving Adam and Eve strongly correlates to the first volume of Frankenstein. Driven by his mother s death, Frankenstein looks to science in order to combat the death and illness that surrounds him. His acquisition of this scientifical knowledge leads to the creation of a horrible being. By creating life, he is able to attain the knowledge and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Before the romantic period, there were various other periods like old English literature, middle English literature, English renaissance, neo classical period etc. From the beginning we notice that there is an imbalance between the male and female authors. Male writers are found more than the female writers. This imbalance is also found in the romantic literature. Also it is seen that, though the majority writers are men, the women are more interested in reading those piece of literature, compared to male. Philosopher Karl Popper And Empirical Falsification Philosopher Karl Popper is widely known for his rejection of classical inductivism, the idea that scientific knowledge is derived only from observation, and also his support of empirical falsification, the idea that scientific theories cannot be proven correct, but they can be proven false. In other words, empirical falsification means that theories can and should be closely and thoroughly examined by decisive experiments. In Popper s view, a claim must be falsifiable, or testable, in order for it to be scientifically true; if a hypothesis cannot be refuted, then it is not a scientific claim. Alternatively, the proclamation the Earth is flat is scientific because it can be proven to be false through scientific investigation. Popper came up with the term Critical Rationalist , an expression to describe his ideology. Critical rationalists believe that hypothesis and theories should be criticized in a rational way and should be tested in a way that they can be proven to be false. Popper was inspired to come up with his idea of falsification because of the many advances happening in the Western scientific world while he was growing up in the early 1900 s. Growing up in this time, Popper was intrigued by the psychoanalytic theories of Sigmund Freud and even attended lectures of Albert Einstein about the rules of the universe. He noticed that these distinguished thinkers used different methods within their work. Freud could make almost any piece of data work in favor of his theory. To illustrate, he could explain someone s intimacy issues both in terms of not being hugged enough as a child or in terms of being hugged too much. Evidence to support his claims were all around. Contrary to Freud, Popper noticed that Einstein was making a different kind of prediction. Instead of looking in the past to predict the present like Freud, he was looking ahead to predict things in the future. Popper saw Einstein s method to be extremely risky because if the ... ORIGINAL POST 3 Forum Post 3 Original Post Approaches to Leadership There are many different ways in which individuals lead. Whether implicit or by choice, the style and the way it is applied can lead to success or failure in the workplace. My boss and I approach leadership in completely different ways. While my boss leans toward only a transactional style, specifically Laissez faire, or management by exception, I prefer a combination of transactional and translational styles. According to Robbins and Judge (2012), Laissez faire is the most passive and therefore least effective of leader behaviors (Robbins Judge, 2012, p. 382). Additionally, management by exception is somewhat better, however it remains one of the weakest leadership styles. He also produced the thrilling tale, The Cask of Amontillado, and poems such as Ulalume and The Bells. Most of Poe s work is concerned with terror and sadness, but in normal circumstances the poet was a pleasant companion. The way Poe talked was so mysterious and dark, therefore Edgar Allan Poe talked brilliantly, and with so much emotional and passion in his poems. Even when he does not hurl his characters into the clutch of mysterious forces or onto the untrodden paths of the beyond, he uses the anguish of imminent death as the means of causing the nerves to quiver ( The Pit and the Pendulum ), and his grotesque invention deals with corpses and decay in an uncanny play with the aftermath of death. In Poe s masterpieces the double contents of his temper, of his mind, and of his art are fused into a oneness of tone, structure, and movement, the more effective, perhaps, as it is compounded of various elements. As a critic, Poe laid great stress upon correctness of language, metre, and structure. He formulated rules for the short story, in which he sought the ancient unities the short story should relate a complete action and take place within one day in one place. To these unities he added that of mood or effect. He was not extreme in these views, however. He praised longer works and sometimes thought allegories and morals admirable if not crudely presented. As the game began, the children were excited, but were able to keep up to find each word called. After about two or three rounds, a student called out, BINGO! Adaption 5 There are four different types of mayfly s: the swimmers, the clingers, the burrowers, and the crawlers. All of these different types of mayfly s have physical adaptations on their body to help them do the thing they were designed to do. This is an important adaptation because no matter if it s swimming, clinging, crawling, or burrowing, all mayflies depend on the thing they re good at to get food, hide, get away from predators, and thrive. The mayfly nymphs that depend on swimming to live have flat body s and strong legs spread out from each side. Having a flat body help s reduce the power of the stream and strong legs help push the mayfly forward when it swims. These adaptations allow swimming mayfly s to fight against the water s current and move freely even in the swiftest streams. Some may ask, aren t we managing knowledge already? Truth is, no! We are actually just making a really huge mess of managing information. Knowledge has two simple explanations of interest. The first part deals with a defined body of information. Depending on the meaning, the body of the information might consist of facts, opinions, ideas, theories, principles, and models. Knowledge also refers to a person s state of being with respect to some body of information. These states include; ignorance, awareness, familiarity, understanding, facility, and so on (Barclay, R., Murray, P. (1997). Much of the material that relates to the field of Artificial Intelligence deals with human psychology and the nature of consciousness. It purports that when we are able to finally understand the brain, we will be able to duplicate its functions. Thus, if we replicate the computational power of the mind, we will then understand it. Searle argues that machines may well be able to quot;understand quot; syntax, but not the semantics, or meaning communicated thereby. Esentially, he makes his point by citing the famous quot;Chinese Room Thought Experiment. quot; It is here he demonstrates that a quot;computer quot; (a non chinese speaker, a book of rules and the chinese symbols) can fool a native speaker, but have no idea what he is saying.
