Directions:
Choose one participant that will agree to an administration of the interview schedule.
Find a quiet and comfortable place that sets your participant as ease. Remember not to deviate from the set interview schedule (although you can give minimal responses to requests for clarification or use neutral prompts or probes to get them going or keep them on track). Give your participant a pseudonym and record no information that could lead to their unique identification. Take detailed and exhaustive notes! Record everything because you may not realize that something is important until after the fact. Remember that the purpose of these content analyses is to gather data about how members of different groups think about, talk about, behave toward, or otherwise respond to another. You don’t have to record information that does not pertain to our purpose, but do record everything that may shed light on our research topic!
Take detailed notes during the interview. Include what they said and how they said it [important body language, pauses, and other non-verbal expressions should be noted in square brackets]. Find a quite place as soon after the interview is concluded to record your notes into this form. Clean your notes by removing your shorthand and explaining every detail. Remember that these notes need to be understandable on their own. Include everything and add additional details as you recall them. When you add detail after the fact in this first pass, use “Bright Green” text to distinguish it from your first observations.
Then set your notes aside for about 24 hours so that you can think about them some more. Make a third pass through your notes and use “Blue” text to distinguish these subsequent reflections from your first observations and your initial additions. It is important to make these distinctions clear because your understanding of the interview may change with time. Do not worry if your first, second, and third passes through your data agree with one another. Again, your perspective may change. It is important that you do not delete previous notes, but merely add to them each time through.
Finally, in all three passes, be careful to distinguish between what was said and your interpretation of what was said. Actual descriptions should be recorded in regular text (in the appropriate color), but your interpretations, opinions, and inferences from the data should be italicized. Try to maintain this “fact-value” distinction as carefully as you can (although it is impossible to be perfect in this regard). You can use as many pages for your notes as you need. This document will expand to make room. But please be conscientious about recording everything, including your reactions as the interviewer! Good luck and have fun!

Try to use a mix of signal phrases and parentheticals to avoid sounding dull and to make sure your paper is well balanced.

Choose one participant that will agree to an administration of the interview schedule.
Find a quiet and comfortable place that sets your participant as ease. Remember not to deviate from the set interview schedule (although you can give minimal responses to requests for clarification or use neutral prompts or probes to get them going or keep them on track). Give your participant a pseudonym and record no information that could lead to their unique identification. Take detailed and exhaustive notes! Record everything because you may not realize that something is important until after the fact. Remember that the purpose of these content analyses is to gather data about how members of different groups think about, talk about, behave toward, or otherwise respond to another. You don’t have to record information that does not pertain to our purpose, but do record everything that may shed light on our research topic!
Take detailed notes during the interview. Include what they said and how they said it [important body language, pauses, and other non-verbal expressions should be noted in square brackets]. From the case, it is apparent that SFK-NY is one of the non-profit organization that is striving a lot to ensure that its mission of empowering the human spirit in every child is achieved. The case indicates that there is a huge gap in the society concerning the human spirit and hence SFK-NY has done its best to fill this gap. However, a closer look at the case reveals that the SFK-NY has not yet achieved its goal or rather its missions and vision. The vision statement for the organization is “One World, Every Child” (Vallas and Sherman, 2012). According to the case, it is stated that the mission of ensuring that the vision “ One World, Every Child” is achieved would only be complete when every child and young adult in the target region has participated in the SFK-YK program (Vallas and Sherman, 2012). This is because for all the children to learn he tools to help them make wise choices that provide them with certainty, happiness, concern for the well-being of others, the organization needs to invest a lot not only in employing personnel but also in expanding their project worldwide.
Expanding the program worldwide would need an enormous amount of money. Given that the SFK-YK is a non-profit organization, it means that it does not get capital from the services they offer. This is because they do not charge the beneficiaries for the services they get. The organization, according to the case, depends on donations from individuals, corporations, foundations, groups, clubs, and organization as well as their own fundraising from special events. Despite the fact that the organization gets a lot of assistance from well-wishers and clubs, the organizational Advisory Board and the director argue that their major concern is that SFK is not generating as much revenue through fundraising to support the current operation. They are also concerned that the organization is gaining a lot of popularity and that because of this, it is likely that it may experience massive growth. Directions:
Choose one participant that will agree to an administration of the interview schedule.
Find a quiet and comfortable place that sets your participant as ease. Remember not to deviate from the set interview schedule (although you can give minimal responses to requests for clarification or use neutral prompts or probes to get them going or keep them on track). Give your participant a pseudonym and record no information that could lead to their unique identification. Take detailed and exhaustive notes! Record everything because you may not realize that something is important until after the fact. Remember that the purpose of these content analyses is to gather data about how members of different groups think about, talk about, behave toward, or otherwise respond to another. You don’t have to record information that does not pertain to our purpose, but do record everything that may shed light on our research topic!
Take detailed notes during the interview. Include what they said and how they said it [important body language, pauses, and other non-verbal expressions should be noted in square brackets]. Find a quite place as soon after the interview is concluded to record your notes into this form. Clean your notes by removing your shorthand and explaining every detail. Remember that these notes need to be understandable on their own. Include everything and add additional details as you recall them. When you add detail after the fact in this first pass, use “Bright Green” text to distinguish it from your first observations.
Then set your notes aside for about 24 hours so that you can think about them some more. Make a third pass through your notes and use “Blue” text to distinguish these subsequent reflections from your first observations and your initial additions. It is important to make these distinctions clear because your understanding of the interview may change with time. Do not worry if your first, second, and third passes through your data agree with one another. Again, your perspective may change. It is important that you do not delete previous notes, but merely add to them each time through.
Finally, in all three passes, be careful to distinguish between what was said and your interpretation of what was said. Actual descriptions should be recorded in regular text (in the appropriate color), but your interpretations, opinions, and inferences from the data should be italicized. Try to maintain this “fact-value” distinction as carefully as you can (although it is impossible to be perfect in this regard). You can use as many pages for your notes as you need. This document will expand to make room. But please be conscientious about recording everything, including your reactions as the interviewer! Good luck and have fun!

Introduction and problem statement
From the case, it is apparent that SFK-NY is one of the non-profit organization that is striving a lot to ensure that its mission of empowering the human spirit in every child is achieved. The case indicates that there is a huge gap in the society concerning the human spirit and hence SFK-NY has done its best to fill this gap. However, a closer look at the case reveals that the SFK-NY has not yet achieved its goal or rather its missions and vision. The vision statement for the organization is “One World, Every Child” (Vallas and Sherman, 2012). According to the case, it is stated that the mission of ensuring that the vision “ One World, Every Child” is achieved would only be complete when every child and young adult in the target region has participated in the SFK-YK program (Vallas and Sherman, 2012). This is because for all the children to learn he tools to help them make wise choices that provide them with certainty, happiness, concern for the well-being of others, the organization needs to invest a lot not only in employing personnel but also in expanding their project worldwide.
Expanding the program worldwide would need an enormous amount of money. Given that the SFK-YK is a non-profit organization, it means that it does not get capital from the services they offer. This is because they do not charge the beneficiaries for the services they get. The organization, according to the case, depends on donations from individuals, corporations, foundations, groups, clubs, and organization as well as their own fundraising from special events. Despite the fact that the organization gets a lot of assistance from well-wishers and clubs, the organizational Advisory Board and the director argue that their major concern is that SFK is not generating as much revenue through fundraising to support the current operation. They are also concerned that the organization is gaining a lot of popularity and that because of this, it is likely that it may experience massive growth. The board is also claiming that the cost for every student is approximately $300 per program, which is too much because every student needs to finish level 1,2 and even 3 depending on the availability of funding. This essay will support why lack of finance is the major strategic obstacle to the SFK-YK Program.

Knowing that mergers may require a dramatic change in company culture,
you realize that you need to meet with the human resources (HR) and
leadership teams because they will play important roles in the merger. The
leadership team will drive the change, and the HR team will be charged with
managing the change. You have scheduled a meeting with Steve Maine, your
vice president at ALTAP consulting, to consult with him on this project.
“Thanks for meeting me today, Steve,” you begin. “I need to talk through
some of the issues before meeting with the HR and leadership teams at
UWEAR and PALEDENIM. The merger is going well, but it is becoming
apparent that there are some significant change issues that need to be
addressed.”
“I’ve heard good things about your work on this project,” Steve answers. “I’m
sure you have it under control, but I’ll be happy to help where I can.”
“We are dealing with the issues of joining together two very disparate
companies,” you explain. “On the one hand, UWEAR is public and has 100
employees; on the other hand, PALEDENIM is private with only 15
employees. They basically provide the same type of service, but they are
completely different businesses in how they operate inside and outside of the
company.”
You continue, “Yes, and both the employees and managers of each company
have different philosophies and expectations. PALEDENIM employees and
managers have a kind of ‘one-for-all and all-for-one’ attitude. They all chip in
to get the job done. The UWEAR employees and managers look at things
differently. They’re more apt to do their jobs, get them done, and go home
without consideration for what else the rest of the team needs to complete.”
“That is definitely a culture issue,” Steve agrees. “In fact, that is the classic
definition of a culture issue. I’m sure they’re also dealing with the typical
power struggles. I bet everyone is worried about whether their department
will be headed by a UWEAR manager or a PALEDENIM manager.”

Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

- 1. Identify a senior citizen and schedule an hour to talk with him or her face to face. Be sure to tell the person that you are completing the interview as part of a class assignment and that the content of the interview is completely confidential (no names will be used). Conduct an informal interview, focusing on the participant’s developmental history. Consider the following: Family history and background School environment and educational experience Employment and volunteer work Social relationships Partnerships and parenthood Significant life events Significant life transitions Memorable experiences In addition to interview data, you may also obtain information from significant others, behavioral observations during the interview, and records (e.g. school reports, family albums, diaries, etc).
- 2. Part I: Document the questions you asked and the participant’s responses. This is your interview ‘transcript’ that will be turned in along with your reflective paper. Part II : Write about 1,050 words reflecting on the interview. In your paper, include information on the following: What were the most notable aspects of the interview? What topics did your interviewee respond strongly to and why? What were the most surprising aspects of the interview? Did any of the interviewee’s responses surprise you? Explain. What stood out as being most important in his/her life? Describe the interviewee's most significant or meaningful life events. What life transitions did your interviewee discuss? Did he/she disclose any specific strategies for coping with difficult life transitions? Describe the interviewee's most challenging transitions. Explain what you learned from this experience. Use the literature in gerontology, wisdom and successful aging to supplement your paper and support your points. Include at least three references from scholarly sources.
