Information and communication technology (ICT) is an extension of information technology that stresses the role of unified communications and integration of telecommunications and computers. ICT allows for acquisition, storage, manipulation, transmission and reception of data in real time with easy availability of updated information. ICT plays a catalytic role in education by enhancing learning both inside and outside the classroom, facilitating mobile learning, inclusive education and research. ICT enhances the teaching and learning environment by enabling self-paced learning and e-learning through tools like assignments and computers, making the teaching and learning process more productive.

not available earlier. After the inception of
ICT in schools, students found learning in
