The Cultural Clash Of The American Educational System
Immigrants into the United States often perceive education as the principal method for their
children to attain a better life than they have been able to provide for them. The immigrants have
dreams and hopes of their children becoming successful and working in better conditions that they
had to endure in order to survive. However for the children, accomplishing the immense dreams
their parents hold for them can be challenging. While striving to obtain an education, the children
face many cultural clashes because the ideas they learn while in school or the process of attaining
the education goes against many of the cultural or familyvalues they have been raised with. This is
an issue that is iterated in many texts by Latina writers... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In The Latin Deli, Ortiz Cofer employs the use of fictional stories to present the two different
experiences of cultural struggle caused by education.
In the first short story American History , the character puts her education in front of her family,
which created a distance between her and her mother causing a cultural conflict. Her mother
wanted her to mourn and attend a church service with her that night in honor of President
Kennedy, who was seen as a champion for immigrants, but she declined because she had to study
for a test. Her education puts a physical and emotional barrier between her and her mother; as her
mother tried to embrace her, her books were in the way , stopping the embrace in its tracks. Her
mother was hurt emotionally by her words and the physical distance between them that she spat
out you are forgetting who you are (page 13). Her mother felt that because she decided to put her
education ahead of being with her family that night, and by creating the emotional and physical
barrier, she would be denying a part of who she was. In the story Advanced Biology Ortiz Cofer
again highlights the cultural struggle the main character undergoes as she attains an education. This
time, education was causing her to drift away from her faith, which was an integral part of her

Nancy Goldin s I Ll Be Your Mirror
Nancy Goldin was born in Washington D.C. on September 12th, 1953 to her Jewish parents and
grew up in middle class Lexington. After attending an alternative school in Lincoln she left home
at the age of 13. Suspicious of love between the male and female sexes and also mourning the
suicide of her sister, she actively looked for a substitute family. While doing so, she became
involved with a group of alienated young teenagers that relied on drugs, sex, and violence.
Nan was first introduced to photography at 15 when a teacher passed out Polaroid cameras to
students at Setya Community School in 1968. She began with black and white square photographs
of friends in the Trans community in Boston in the early 70s and had her first solo photo shoot ...

In 1994, she published Tokyo Love, a series of images of Tokyo youth, in collaboration with
Japanese photographer Nobuyoshi Araki. In this collection of portraits Goldin found that the
eastern community was greatly alike her portraits of the western community. In 1995 she
worked along with a British filmmaker named Edmund Coulthard to make a movie about her
life and work in I ll Be Your Mirror. Then in 1996, her reputation was even further increased by a
influential retrospective, centered around one of her slideshows at the Whitney Museum in New
York. Goldin s work is most often presented in a slideshow format and are sometimes shown at
film festivals; her most famous being 40 minutes long consisting of 800 photographs. She has
fondly documented women looking in mirrors, girls in barrooms and bathrooms, drag queens,
sexual activity, and the culture of obsession and dependency. Her photos are often described as a
way to learn the stories and intimate details of those closest to her. It references one of her most
famous photographs Nan One Month After Being Battered, 1984 as an iconic photo she used to

Gender Stereotypes In The Ordeal Of Gilbert Pinfold
Gender Stereotypes in The Ordeal Of Gilbert Pinfold In The Ordeal Of Gilbert Pinfold by Evelyn
Waugh, Gilbert Pinfold has plenty of interactions with other characters and exhibits many gender
stereotypes. There is evidence to support this by the way in which Gilbert presents himself to
various characters. His dominance over women for example is evident in his relationship with
Margaret. Gilbert also takes on a challenge of manhood presented by Fosker. Finally Gilbert
demonstrates the men are always right stereotype throughout his interactions with the B.B.C.
Therefore, whether it is a hallucination or a real life encounter Gilbert is constantly seeking
appraise and an opportunity to demonstrate his masculinity. Gilbert and Margaret share a unique
relationship throughout the novel. Margaret serves as Gilbert s most fond hallucination despite
having great doubt and confusion towards Margaret as he is never able to interact with her face to
face. It is not until Gilbert is presented with an opportunity to take her virginity that he shows any
interested in her. It is now that Gilbert can truly feel like a manthat he shows any signs of
dominance. After receiving an invitation into Gilbert s cabin Margaret refuses resulting in
Gilbert saying, Oh, don t be such a little ass. I ve been sitting here for goodness knows how long.
Come in if you re coming. If you re not, I want to go back to bed. (143). Gilbert believes that for
Margaret it is an honour to sleep with him and Gilbert feels that he should not have to spend any
extra energy than required. This is for multiple reasons such as age. Gilbert is many years older
than Margaret and with that comes a status and power. Gilbert feels as if he is higher than
Margaret and too good to wait even another minute for her to enter the room. He would rather go
back to bed then to spend anymore time waiting for Margaret to come and sleep with him.
Another reason is the simple fact that Margaret is a female. With Margaret being a female Gilbert
is given an excuse to be a jerk throughout the whole situation. This is not the first time Gilbert has
demonstrated a lack of respect towards females. In a prior interaction with Margaret s mother,
Gilbert is caught up in the

Identity In Brave New World Essay
The novel, Brave New World, by Aldous Huxley commences with the tripartite mantra in which the
World State is assembled upon: Community, Identity, Stability. Community, can be understood as a
group of people with common characteristics living in one place; people fitting into one of the five
social castes Alphas, Betas, Gammas, Deltas, and Epsilons fulfills the aspect of community. Identity
is established by stripping the citizens of their individuality, which forces them to conform to the
masses making all the people, have the same identity. Through the eyes of the world leaders,
stability is achieved through the community and identity part of the mantra. The Controllers of the

Plato s Dialogue Phaedo
In Plato s dialogue Phaedo, Socrates argues that there is a clear distinction between the body and
the soul. Socrates argues that the soul is invisible to human eyes and lives on forever after one s
death in order to seek wisdom. In contrast, the body s physical, mortal, and is a physical burden to
the soul. He believes that people should live their lives preparing for deathand separating their soul
from the substantial needs of the body. In addition, he thinks that if a soul has not properly
separating itself from the body after death, it will not be able to be free. One of the philosophical
ideas that Socrates argued was known as the Argument from Affinity. The Argument of Affinity is
about the distinction between the soul and the physical... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the beginning. Socrates argues that the body and the mind, in reference to every human being
that has ever existed. Socrates then goes on to differentiate this experience for philosophers.
Philosophers give the impression of being wise during their lifetimes because they are able to
seek wisdom, even with the physical necessities of their bodies. Socrates is at ease about the
entire situation, including his own death because he believes that his soul will live forever. He
thinks that once his soul distances itself from the body, the soul will be able to truly be wise.
The soul of the philosopher achieves a calm from such emotions [pleasures and pain]; it follows
with reason and ever stays with it contemplating the true, the divine, which is not the object of
opinion (122). He believes that the soul of a philosopher is immortal because it is able to seek
wisdom with the burdens of the body so without it will be able to accomplish more.In the
beginning, Socrates argues that the soul and the body are contrasting for every human and when
they separate the soul will truly be free. Later on, Socrates specifically states the souls of
philosophers will be immortal because they are calm and are always thinking of the truth and the
divine. This weakens his argument because everyone is not a philosopher so not everyone s soul
will become immortal. Socrates lists the differences between the body and the soul and what makes
the latter immortal. This argument appears to be unconditional in the context that Socrates is
saying it, however he doesn t mention if this notion is absolute in all cases for every human
being.Socrates does not specifically mention if this explanation is relevant to every single physical
human body and every single immortal soul that a human may possess. The argument can apply to
every single body because every human body

The Monster that Was Pol Pot Essay
Why does nobody know who this monstrous human being was? What did Pol Pot do to become
such a terrible person? Pol Pot was a Cambodian dictator who led the country through hell. People
say that Pol Pot killed almost as many people as Hitler did. People should become aware of what
he did and how horrifying it really was. Pol Pot was the leader of Khmer Rouge, who led his
communist party to kill twenty five percent of Cambodiaresulting from starvation, overwork, and
executions.
Pol Pot was born with the name Saloth Sar in 1925 in Cambodia. His family was big on farming

Cambodia started to experience rough things happening to the country, such as the U.S. invaded
Cambodia to expel the North Vietnamese from their border encampments (The History Place). As
a result of this, it caused the United States to become major allies with Khmer Rouge. Between
1969 and 1973, the United Sates turned out bombing eastern Cambodia. Pol Pot is rationalizing
that he could lead the country to victory. The United States killed 150,000 Cambodian peasants;
can Pol Pot change the country for the better? Of coarse Pol Pot is now on the way to complete
dictatorship. Because of the death of many of these peasants, the majority of the country moved to
Phnom Penh because it was the capital city of Cambodia.
The people of Cambodia want an improvement in the government. Pol Pot and Khmer Rouge is the
best thing that will accompany the government, at least in the people s eyes. Everyone is
supporting him, envisioning the development of the government. In 1975, the United States
retreated their troops from Vietnam, losing its support from America. With the favor on Pol Pot s
side, Pol Pot and his Khmer Rouge army invaded the capital, Phnom Penh, and took total control of
Cambodia.
Pol Pot was considering every opportunity to make the country recover. What was Pol Pot going
to do? He began using his knowledge with Marxism and what he knew about communism and
started an agrarian utopia, which was a society based on agriculture, because he was inspired in part

It s referring to precedents. Precedents are previous decisions of the court that need to be followed

Jesus Christ Reflection
but also the word that left a lasting impact. The character of Jesus Christ has always portrayed a
spirit of compassion and love for those lost in hurt and pain. Jesus Christ instruction was divine and
anointed, as believers the instructions are no different.
The common approach to any unexpected should be prayer because not all of God s people
response the same in crisis. A person losing a love one to death is not same as a love one being in
a nursing home, or house fire. Training is important, so that people are not misconstrued in their
attempt to rescue people during trying moments. By the way of example, the story of Jesus Christ
raising Mary and Martha s brother Lazarus from the dead. The story describes how the Jews
were consoling Mary during the supposed death of Lazarus. The people surround Mary and
Martha with good intention but not realizing the barriers being built up. Martha, however,
received word Jesus was coming and broke the barrier. Martha confess the faith of God and
believed healing would arise in Lazarus. Whereas, when Mary came into the presence of Jesus
Christ anger overshadowed the response of His coming. Oftentimes, as believers some people in
crisis will respond in anger and resistance towards their coming. It is imperative one does not take
it personal because at the moment the person is hurting. As believers, it is important to respect
where a person of a crisis state of mind is during the moment. The writer of the Book of Romans

How Did The Framers Create A Democratic Government
Asia Pratka
The United States Constitution was created in fear of protecting the people that it governed from
the government itself. The Framers pursued the Constitution to prevent the government that they
had left behind, the Monarchy of England. After the failed Articles of Confederation, they needed a
strong, balanced federal government. Leaving tyrannical England where leaders were not held
accountable, disparaging towards natural rights, and lack of consent from the people it governs.
The Framers were able to cultivate a constitution dedicated towards the people. They believed that
consent from the governed was the only way to create legitimate governance. The Framers laid out

The people are the basis for any power that the federal government preserves and must always
protect those who empower them. The written Constitution they created was not to define the rights
of the people, but to limit the powers the national government would hold over the people. The
Constitution would create a National government that would create a strong federal government,
while safeguarding the rights of the people, and conserving checks on power it holds. The framers
did not believe in cataloging individual rights in the constitution. They believed it would be
threatening to define the rights that the people hold. Alexander Hamilton specifically believed that
the Constitution had no power to infringe on the natural rights that all people have. However, the
Bill of Rights was created from a compromise and thus, created the first ten amendments to the
Constitution. These rights listed protections from the National government. These rights have
proven to be security against the federal governments use of an enumerated power that they might
hold. It is important for this very reason to have a written Bill of Rights in the United States
Constitution. It does not define what rights the people hold, it defines what the government is
entrusted to protect: the people. It is for this reason that I agree that the Bill of Rights was
necessary to be written in the

False Memories
Fact vs. Fiction: The Truth About False Memories
Memories are important cognitive processes that are utilized every day. Research indicates that
humans have both true and false memories. The question is: how do they differ? True memory
enables individuals to recall past experiences with little distortion, while false memory allows
individuals to recant situations and occupy any memory gaps with external information in order to
truly believe that an event has occurred. In a day and age where memory distortion or memory loss
is quite common, many people believe that it is quite easy to implant false memories. However,
research has proven quite the opposite. Although it is possible, planting false memories is a

Cryptomnesia is described as when a person thinks he or she has come up with a new idea, yet has
only retrieved a stored idea and failed to attribute the idea to its proper source (Gazzaniga et al.,
2011, p.305). This type of misattribution is contextualized in every day life by occurrences of
unintentional plagiarism. Unintentional plagiarism occurs very frequently and in most instances, is
indistinguishable because it encompasses the unconscious impact of memory.
The third category of misattribution is false recall and false recognition, which is when individuals
falsely recall or recognize items or events that never happened (Schacter, 1999, p.189). Considering
recognition and recall as they pertain to psychology, recognition is described as memories that do
not require a great deal of mental effort to attain information, where as recollections are memories
that are placed in long term storage and require a greater depth of processing. When analyzing
false recognition and false recall, false memories appear to stem from both an encoding and retrieval

Poison Ivy Monologue
Poison Ivy

Poison Ivy by Sydney J. Tanner When I was 19, I was attending Utah State University, in Logan
Utah. I lived in a beautiful canyon in the mountains and went hiking and camping a lot. One
camping trip, being a bit naive and inexperienced I wiped with the nearest green leaf I could
find. What followed was an excruciating lesson never to be forgotten. Not being from Utah, I had
never seen or been around poison ivy before. Later that fall, I was on a committee decorating for
an autumn formal dance. I gathered interesting and colorful vines and weeds to make thirteen large
wreaths for the walls. After I hung the last wreath for the dance that evening, I realized something
dreadful. Gee, poison ivy changes color in the fall. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Berries white, run in fright. The old adage still stands. As a Wisconsin Master Gardener, I share
my embarrassing story with you for a reason. Some people still don t know what poison ivy
looks like. When I tell this story, I get to hear other people s awkward tales of adventure in the

vegetatively and sexually. The seeds are spread by animal feces. The plant also sends out

John T. Scopes Anti-Evolution Case Summary
In 1925, a young Tennessee school teacher named John T. Scopes defied the state s law

Then, the ACLU got involved and offered to defend Scopes. When Darrow heard about the case,

embodiment of all those aspects of rural America that Darrow had escaped so many years before.

Importance Of Cerebral Circulation
Cerebral Circulation
A constant flow of blood to the brain is vital to its proper functioning. Blood supplies the brain
with oxygen and to perform maximally the brain requires about 25% of the body s oxygen (Webb,
2016). Lack of oxygen for a prolonged period results in cell death causing irreversible damage to
the brain. Two paired arteries, four total, supply the vital source of blood to the brain and spinal
cord.
Arterial Structures
Blood supply to the brain is divided between the internal carotid arteries (ICA) and the vertebral
arteries. As stated in Cippola s text, the right and left ICA from the bifurcations of the common
carotid arteries and the ICA itself also split in the anterior and middle cerebral arteries. Its primary
function is to supply blood to the cerebrum. The vertebral arteries originate from the subclavian
artery and then join distally to form the basilar artery , (Cipolla, 2009). The basilar artery later
bifurcates into two posterior cerebral arteries , these arteries supply the inferolateral surface of
the temporal lobe and the lateral and medial surfaces of the occipital lobe, (Webb, 2016). While
the ICA mainly provides blood to the cerebrum, the vertebral arteries are the primary supply to
brain stem and cerebellum. The ICA and the vertebral arteries join together to form what is known
as the Circle of Willis.
Circle of Willis
The Circle of Willis is also known as the circulus arteriosus. It is a structure that is formed by the
joining of the two

1.1 Natural Uranium Variations in Geologic Ores Uranium consists of four naturally occurring
isotopes (238U, 235U, 234U, and 236U), with multiple oxidation states. Variations in uranium
isotopics are unique in that both chemical (redox interactions) and nuclear processes (decay and
volume fractionation) play an important role. Four oxidation states known for uranium ions in
aqueous solutions (+III to +VI) which usually exist as U+3, U+4, UO2+, and UO2+2 [Gindler,
1978]. Under oxidizing conditions, uranium is primarily present in the hexavalent (VI) state, which
can form highly mobile soluble complexes (primarily with carbonates) [Langmuir, 1997]. In a
reducing environment, however, uranium will primarily occur in the tetravalent (IV) state. U+4
tends to form relatively insoluble complexes and has higher sorption kinetics compared to the
hexavalent state [Langmuir, 1997].
With an increase in measurement capabilities, all three isotopic ratios (relative to 238U) have
been shown to naturally vary in some degree due to various factors. The first uranium isotopic
that was discovered to have natural variation was 234U/238U, the increased abundance of 234U
in seawater (~15%) perhaps being the best example [Chen et al., 1986]. Variations in 234U are a
consequence of an increased mobility of 234U relative to other uranium isotopes due to redox
interactions. Production of 234U occurs through О± decay of 238U, which subsequently results

The Tax Rules, Credits, And Exclusions
The tax rules, credits, and exclusions that are applicable to gift and to estates are continuously
changing. As a result, one needs to be conscious of these changes so that effective tax reduction
plans can be applied to a given event or situation. Although there are many estate planning concepts
and provisions from a taxationperspective these concepts are two expansive and often to
specialized to be covered all at once or to be relevance to a wide audience. Having said this, it is
important to note that there are some foundational concepts that taxpayers and estate planners
should be aware of as well as their most up to date application. Some of these concepts along with
figures relevant to the 2015 taxyear are listed below.
1.Federal Unified Credit Exemption: The Unified Federal Credit exemption allows for non
taxable transfers, through gifts during one s lifetime or through estates upon ones death, up to a
specified dollar value (Daily Quinn, 2014). This value often increases, similar to the level of
inflation, so that the exemption does not become diluted. In 2015 the Unified Federal Credit
exemption was increased from $5.34 million to $5.43 million dollars (Jacobs, 2014).
2.NYS Unifies Exemption Amount: comparable to the federal credit exemption, the state
exemption accomplishes the same purposes. Each state has difference estate tax rates and rule. For
NYS the exclusion amount for the 2015 tax year is $3,125,000.00 with an annual increase of
roughly 1,000,000

The Global Sex Trade And Women As The Supplier Essay
The Global Sex Trade and Women as the Supplier
Introduction
Women involved or forced into sex work (prostitution) are striped of dignity and self worth they
come from poverty, migration and cultural backgrounds that face gender inequality (Bhat Pushpam,
2013, p. 3). Forced prostitution is a global problem but is more prevalent in poorer countries (True,
2013). Victims of prostitution affect women and children of all ages (Bhat Pushpam, 2013, p. 3).
The sex industry thrives making billions of dollars and is funded by investors, crooked recruiters,
and even corrupt government employees (Bhat Pushpam, 2013, p. 3). Females involved in the sex
trade face inhuman treatment they are raped, demoralized, defeated and will never live a normal
life again (Bhat Pushpam, 2013, p. 3). Many women will migrate across borders in search for
economic stability but instead will be coerced into sex work (Wonders Danner, 2002). Women in
poorer countries with low social class face gender inequalities mainly because of cultural and
political misguidance. Strategies that can help prevent women from forced prostitution and sex
work include higher pay, a support system for women to get an education, and government reforms
to help prevent migration and the people that keep the industry thriving.
Effects of Poverty on Women
Sex workers can exist anywhere but are primarily more prevalent in poorer countries and women
and children who participate or who are forced into sex work do so

Dover Castle s Importance
ВВDover Castle s importance is primarily down to its location. It s in the narrowest section of the
straits of Dover with just 21 miles between England and France: in fact, on a clear day you can see
France. This makes the castle well placed to be the guard post of England .
The castle s incredible strategic location was acknowledged by William the Conqueror, Henry II,
the 1770s British Government and even by the British Army in both World War Iand World War II.
Through the ages, each of these individuals and organisations built new parts and strengthened the
existing castle. Their overall goal was to keep England secure.
Before Dover Castle was built it was an Iron Age hill fort, this made this location a perfect place
to put a castle because it gave fantastic views not only over their land, but also because of the
aforementioned view of France. This meant that when the castle was eventually built on this site it
was a lot harder to attack and a lot easier to defend. This proves to be the case as the castle has
never been successfully attacked. Furthermore this provided Dover with a strategic advantage
locally and also nationally because of its fantastic location.
The Romans arrived in southern Britain in AD 43, but not much happened on the south coast until
270 AD when 9 forts were built, including one in Dover. The English Heritage guide book tells us
that the Romans built a lighthouse (a Pharos) which probably dates to the first half of the second
century AD to keep

their faults are necessary plot devices to tell a larger story (i.e. the central story).
Shinji The reserved, self loathing protagonist, Shinji Ikari, epitomizes the introvert personality by
concealing his true identity a la the hedgehog s dilemma (first introduced by philosopher Arthur
Schopenhauer). Just a brief reminder for anyone who hasn t watched the show for quite some time,
as this concept is fundamental in understanding our main character, the premise of this theory goes
as follows: forging intimate relationships, despite our best intentions, causes shared emotional pain;
therefore, provoking guarded behavior and overall weaker relationships due to the lack of intimacy.
This explains Shinji s maladroit encounters with female characters in the show, and his reluctancy
to solidify lasting relationships. He has become content to live in the imaginary shell that is his
happy place, believing that expressing his true self will cause unintended harm to others and
himself. Hideaki Anno, to his credit, overlaid his permeating depression into a fourteen year old
character, that, for the most part, comes through as feeling authentic. This is not your prototypical
action hero who possesses an indomitable will to overcome any, and all challenges; rather, Shinji,
on countless occasions, shows signs of regression, a trait that is synonymous with the human
condition. He

Explain Why Was Mesmer Created What Would Be Hypnosis
(1.)Describe how Mesmer created what would become hypnosis. Why was Mesmer s method of
testing his idea problematic in light of the scientific method?
The origins of hypnosis came from a physician known as Franz Anton Mesmer who some would
say related an effective therapy based on the idea that illness, mental or otherwise, was the result
of misaligned magnetic forces within someone who is experiencing extreme distress. Mesmer
earned his medical degree and had a thriving practice but he also had a passion for science and
kept up to date with current developments. He was interested primarily in recent discoveries of
electricity and magnesium. He believed that magnesium directly affected humans and that good
health was a direct result of aligned internal magnetic forces. He believed that if these forced did
not align that a person would be either mental or physically ill or both. Since it was believed that
illness was created by the forces opposing each other as a physician and scientist he believed in
order to cure illness these forces needed to straighten out within the body. He believed that in
order to cure his patients who would develop mental health disorders he would prescribe them a
heavy dose of iron and then pass magnets over their bodies. His patients would then go into a crisis
state a type of trance state where his patients ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Stereotypes Of Parenting
As teenagers, there is the stereotype that we complain about our parents all the time. And the topic
that most adults would think we complain about is how our parents are controlling or are butting
into our lives too much. Of course, it is normal for a parent to be overprotective from time to time,
but little did I know that there are parents who literally control and or live their child s life. Over
overprotective parentingotherwise known as helicopter parenting or coddling is occurring more
and more frequently. Remember when you were younger and you would participate in a game or

Sure, parents want the best for their kid and do not want them to fail. However, it ends up just
making things worse. In her article, Almendrala said, Their children grow up without knowing
simple skills like cooking, cleaning, or even doing laundry. They also have a higher risk of
depression, are likely to lack self confidence, and will have less initiative than their peers. Kids
need to learn to do chores and how to help themselves so that they do not have to learn those
skills later in life when they need them. For the older generations, once you left the house, there
was no going back and you were on your own. Today, almost 65% of young adults end up returning
home and 59% of parents provide financial aid, even though their child is no longer in school.
While helping children while they are young is what is expected, you shouldn t help them to the
point where they are dependent on others in the future. Let them rise, let them fall, let them live
their lives without the foam wrapped corners and the bubble wrap armor. Eventually you have to

Government And Law In Reformation Theology . The Protestant
Government and Law in Reformation Theology The Protestant Reformation s initiation through
Martin Luther s criticism of the Catholic Church with his Ninety Five Theses brought about a
united front of Huldrych Zwingli, John Calvin, and Martin Luther and their attempts to reform the
Catholic Church, all of whom eventually split from the Church and started their own religious
movements. As the Reformation movement flourished under each leader, their theological
differences eventually split the movements apart drastically, their differences eventually turning
into a massive feud between Zwingli and Luther, each declaring the other as a heretic [1]. Of their
many differences, their opinions on the relationship between religion and the state... Show more

Calvin had a very similar viewpoint to Zwingli s beliefs on the authority of the church and state,
with some slight differences regarding the level of importance placed upon the church. In
agreement with Zwingli, Calvin affirmed that if it be his pleasure to appoint kings over kingdoms,
and senators or other magistrates over free cities, it is our duty to be obedient to any governors
whom God has established over the places in which we reside [3]. While Zwingli placed more of a
balance upon the relationship between the state and church, Calvin asserted that the state only held
authority as a direct result of the church, the authority directly approved of by God. In his view, any
influential entities within the state only held their influence under God. Calvin first pushed for his
theology to be implemented after writing Institutes of the Christian Religion, attempting to reform
the religious life within Geneva, Switzerland for two years until he and a contemporary, William
Farel refused to adopt religious practices enforced in other parts of Switzerland. Calvin escaped the
city under persecution, only to return in 1541 once the council of Geneva had finally agreed to
implement his previous reforms under the diminishing influence of the church there. His
Ecclesiastical Ordinances were implemented in the city except for the most significant aspect, the
Consistory. The Consistory was

Social Anxiety And Social Depression
Social anxiety is condition that has been described since the days of Hippocrates. Hippocrates
described an individual who would avoid social outings due to being timid, bashful, and fear of
being misused, disgraced, make a fool of himself, or being sick and believes he is constantly being
watched. Will the man who suffers from social anxietyreact differently to mistakes based on social
context? A study by Barker, Troller Renfree, Pine, Fox in 2015 attempted to test that. Baker et al.
tried to measure the error related negativity, an event potential that occurs 50 ms after the faulty
response. The purpose of the study was to see if there is a relationship between the magnitude of
the ERN and social anxiety.
Barker et al. used two groups of individuals. The first group was a group that hardly exhibit social
anxiety and the second group was a group that exhibited high levels of social anxiety. The first
group has 10 males and 11 females and the second group had 11 males and 11 females. The
individuals were selected by using the Liebowitz Social Anxiety Scale. Participants in the study
also completed the Penn State Worry Questionnaire and the Beck Depression Inventory. The reason
why Barker et al. selected the PSWQ is because it has shown high internal reliability in clinical and
normative populations and has demonstrated the ability to be able to distinguish between the
constructs of worry, anxiety, and depression. The BDI was selected because it has shown the ability

Bentonite clay, made of volcanic ash, absorbs toxins, heavy metals and other impurities when
used in conjunction with a liquid. Create a poultice with plain water and bentonite clay. Apply to

Advantages Of Semi-Structured Interview
When choosing the most effective research method, you must first decide on the kind of answers
you are searching for. A quantitative method will find answers that are easily measured and follow
trends and patterns. The qualitative method, however, leads to answers that explore differences in
meanings and contexts. This essay will explore semi structured interviews, a qualitative method that
identifies themes and responses from preset open questions. The method is utilised for its
opportunity to present rich information and answers that would not be found in a formally
structured interview. The success of this method is reliant on the quality of its key elements, as
well as the assumption of integrity with both participants and researchteam. Because these factors
are never guaranteed, this essay will discuss how semi structured interviews may operate to create
credible research and where limitations will lie.
The semi structured interview is a research method that collects qualitative data from a set of open
questions and conversation. It s flexibility separates itself from the quantitative methods in
surveying and standardised interviewing (Bryman, 2012). Instead of quickly sortable data, semi
structured interviews gather information that emphasise the themes and new ideas. The method
structure is very flexible, with only a brief guide to direct the interviews. While quantitative
methods generally reflect the researchers ideas, semi structured interviews inquire more into

practice of gambling in England of the 18th century. Gambling was so common a feature of daily
life that it can be included in conversation portraits such as Assembly at WansteadHouse without

atmosphere and does not express signs of passion, which may also be viewed as an attribute of
the higher society. The guests are gathered there playing cards and drinking tea, which appears to

What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Printers
A printer is external hardware output device that takes the electronic data stored on a computer
or may be on other device and generates a hard copy of it and that hardcopy may be used as

In business where enormous amount of material are printed, the character at a time printers are too
slow; therefore, these users need line at a time printers. Line printers, or line at a time printers, use
special mechanism that can print a whole line at once; they can typically print the range of 1,200 to
6,000 lines per minute. Drum, chain, and band printers are line at a time printers.
Drum printer
A drum printer consists of a solid, cylindrical drum that has raised characters in bands on its
surface. The number of print positions across the drum equals the number available on the page.
This number typically ranges from 80 132 print positions. The drum rotates at a rapid speed. For
each possible print position there is a print hammer located behind the paper. These hammers
strike the paper, along the ink ribbon, against the proper character on the drum as it passes. One
revolution of the drum is required to print each line. This means that all characters on the line are
not printed at exactly the same time, but the time required to print the entire line is fast enough to
call them line printers. Typical speeds of drum printers are in the range of 300 to 2000 lines per

50/60 Hz network frequency to a lower, 0 24/28 Hz output frequency for synchronous motors
(our Azipods operate at 13.3 15 Hz). The cycloconverter is able to work in all drive quadrants
(motor, generator and rotate in both directions) without any additional equipment. This type of
frequency conversion uses thyristors to change the voltage and frequency straight from the
supply frequency. Motor speed is varied by sending pulses to the gates of the thyristors. These
machines can also be started, stopped, reversed and decelerated by regenerative braking. Cyclo
converters rectify positive and negative parts of cycle to create an AC waveform at a lower
frequency (less than a third of the supply frequency) Lower motor frequency complements low
prop shaft frequency. Although a large amount of ripple in the voltage waveform, the current is
smoothed by motor and line inductance. Larger frequencies cause higher ripple, so they are
frequency limited. The basic cycloconverter is connected as a back to back 6 pulse Thyristor
bridge. It is used in several configurations depending on the motor phase number and cycloconverter
pulse number. Cycloconverter drives Control electronics is divided into two parts, the Application
control and Drive control. The application control gathers all information from the cycloconverter
and forwards it to the upper automation. It also receives

  • 2. The Cultural Clash Of The American Educational System Immigrants into the United States often perceive education as the principal method for their children to attain a better life than they have been able to provide for them. The immigrants have dreams and hopes of their children becoming successful and working in better conditions that they had to endure in order to survive. However for the children, accomplishing the immense dreams their parents hold for them can be challenging. While striving to obtain an education, the children face many cultural clashes because the ideas they learn while in school or the process of attaining the education goes against many of the cultural or familyvalues they have been raised with. This is an issue that is iterated in many texts by Latina writers... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In The Latin Deli, Ortiz Cofer employs the use of fictional stories to present the two different experiences of cultural struggle caused by education. In the first short story American History , the character puts her education in front of her family, which created a distance between her and her mother causing a cultural conflict. Her mother wanted her to mourn and attend a church service with her that night in honor of President Kennedy, who was seen as a champion for immigrants, but she declined because she had to study for a test. Her education puts a physical and emotional barrier between her and her mother; as her mother tried to embrace her, her books were in the way , stopping the embrace in its tracks. Her mother was hurt emotionally by her words and the physical distance between them that she spat out you are forgetting who you are (page 13). Her mother felt that because she decided to put her education ahead of being with her family that night, and by creating the emotional and physical barrier, she would be denying a part of who she was. In the story Advanced Biology Ortiz Cofer again highlights the cultural struggle the main character undergoes as she attains an education. This time, education was causing her to drift away from her faith, which was an integral part of her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Nancy Goldin s I Ll Be Your Mirror Nancy Goldin was born in Washington D.C. on September 12th, 1953 to her Jewish parents and grew up in middle class Lexington. After attending an alternative school in Lincoln she left home at the age of 13. Suspicious of love between the male and female sexes and also mourning the suicide of her sister, she actively looked for a substitute family. While doing so, she became involved with a group of alienated young teenagers that relied on drugs, sex, and violence. Nan was first introduced to photography at 15 when a teacher passed out Polaroid cameras to students at Setya Community School in 1968. She began with black and white square photographs of friends in the Trans community in Boston in the early 70s and had her first solo photo shoot ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1994, she published Tokyo Love, a series of images of Tokyo youth, in collaboration with Japanese photographer Nobuyoshi Araki. In this collection of portraits Goldin found that the eastern community was greatly alike her portraits of the western community. In 1995 she worked along with a British filmmaker named Edmund Coulthard to make a movie about her life and work in I ll Be Your Mirror. Then in 1996, her reputation was even further increased by a influential retrospective, centered around one of her slideshows at the Whitney Museum in New York. Goldin s work is most often presented in a slideshow format and are sometimes shown at film festivals; her most famous being 40 minutes long consisting of 800 photographs. She has fondly documented women looking in mirrors, girls in barrooms and bathrooms, drag queens, sexual activity, and the culture of obsession and dependency. • 4. Gender Stereotypes In The Ordeal Of Gilbert Pinfold Gender Stereotypes in The Ordeal Of Gilbert Pinfold In The Ordeal Of Gilbert Pinfold by Evelyn Waugh, Gilbert Pinfold has plenty of interactions with other characters and exhibits many gender stereotypes. There is evidence to support this by the way in which Gilbert presents himself to various characters. His dominance over women for example is evident in his relationship with Margaret. Gilbert also takes on a challenge of manhood presented by Fosker. Finally Gilbert demonstrates the men are always right stereotype throughout his interactions with the B.B.C. Therefore, whether it is a hallucination or a real life encounter Gilbert is constantly seeking appraise and an opportunity to demonstrate his masculinity. Gilbert and Margaret share a unique relationship throughout the novel. Margaret serves as Gilbert s most fond hallucination despite having great doubt and confusion towards Margaret as he is never able to interact with her face to face. It is not until Gilbert is presented with an opportunity to take her virginity that he shows any interested in her. It is now that Gilbert can truly feel like a manthat he shows any signs of dominance. After receiving an invitation into Gilbert s cabin Margaret refuses resulting in Gilbert saying, Oh, don t be such a little ass. I ve been sitting here for goodness knows how long. Come in if you re coming. If you re not, I want to go back to bed. (143). Gilbert believes that for Margaret it is an honour to sleep with him and Gilbert feels that he should not have to spend any extra energy than required. This is for multiple reasons such as age. Gilbert is many years older than Margaret and with that comes a status and power. Gilbert feels as if he is higher than Margaret and too good to wait even another minute for her to enter the room. He would rather go back to bed then to spend anymore time waiting for Margaret to come and sleep with him. Another reason is the simple fact that Margaret is a female. With Margaret being a female Gilbert is given an excuse to be a jerk throughout the whole situation. This is not the first time Gilbert has demonstrated a lack of respect towards females. In a prior interaction with Margaret s mother, Gilbert is caught up in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Socrates argues that the soul is invisible to human eyes and lives on forever after one s death in order to seek wisdom. In contrast, the body s physical, mortal, and is a physical burden to the soul. Socrates argues that the body and the mind, in reference to every human being that has ever existed. Socrates then goes on to differentiate this experience for philosophers. Philosophers give the impression of being wise during their lifetimes because they are able to seek wisdom, even with the physical necessities of their bodies. Socrates is at ease about the entire situation, including his own death because he believes that his soul will live forever. He thinks that once his soul distances itself from the body, the soul will be able to truly be wise. The soul of the philosopher achieves a calm from such emotions [pleasures and pain]; it follows with reason and ever stays with it contemplating the true, the divine, which is not the object of opinion (122). He believes that the soul of a philosopher is immortal because it is able to seek wisdom with the burdens of the body so without it will be able to accomplish more.In the beginning, Socrates argues that the soul and the body are contrasting for every human and when they separate the soul will truly be free. Later on, Socrates specifically states the souls of philosophers will be immortal because they are calm and are always thinking of the truth and the divine. This weakens his argument because everyone is not a philosopher so not everyone s soul will become immortal. Socrates lists the differences between the body and the soul and what makes the latter immortal. This argument appears to be unconditional in the context that Socrates is saying it, however he doesn t mention if this notion is absolute in all cases for every human being.Socrates does not specifically mention if this explanation is relevant to every single physical human body and every single immortal soul that a human may possess. The argument can apply to every single body because every human body ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Jesus Christ instruction was divine and anointed, as believers the instructions are no different. The common approach to any unexpected should be prayer because not all of God s people response the same in crisis. A person losing a love one to death is not same as a love one being in a nursing home, or house fire. Training is important, so that people are not misconstrued in their attempt to rescue people during trying moments. By the way of example, the story of Jesus Christ raising Mary and Martha s brother Lazarus from the dead. The story describes how the Jews were consoling Mary during the supposed death of Lazarus. The people surround Mary and Martha with good intention but not realizing the barriers being built up. Martha, however, received word Jesus was coming and broke the barrier. Martha confess the faith of God and believed healing would arise in Lazarus. Whereas, when Mary came into the presence of Jesus Christ anger overshadowed the response of His coming. Oftentimes, as believers some people in crisis will respond in anger and resistance towards their coming. It is imperative one does not take it personal because at the moment the person is hurting. The Constitution would create a National government that would create a strong federal government, while safeguarding the rights of the people, and conserving checks on power it holds. The framers did not believe in cataloging individual rights in the constitution. They believed it would be threatening to define the rights that the people hold. Alexander Hamilton specifically believed that the Constitution had no power to infringe on the natural rights that all people have. However, the Bill of Rights was created from a compromise and thus, created the first ten amendments to the Constitution. These rights listed protections from the National government. These rights have proven to be security against the federal governments use of an enumerated power that they might hold. Unintentional plagiarism occurs very frequently and in most instances, is indistinguishable because it encompasses the unconscious impact of memory. The third category of misattribution is false recall and false recognition, which is when individuals falsely recall or recognize items or events that never happened (Schacter, 1999, p.189). Considering recognition and recall as they pertain to psychology, recognition is described as memories that do not require a great deal of mental effort to attain information, where as recollections are memories that are placed in long term storage and require a greater depth of processing. • 15. Importance Of Cerebral Circulation Cerebral Circulation A constant flow of blood to the brain is vital to its proper functioning. Blood supplies the brain with oxygen and to perform maximally the brain requires about 25% of the body s oxygen (Webb, 2016). Lack of oxygen for a prolonged period results in cell death causing irreversible damage to the brain. Two paired arteries, four total, supply the vital source of blood to the brain and spinal cord. Arterial Structures Blood supply to the brain is divided between the internal carotid arteries (ICA) and the vertebral arteries. As stated in Cippola s text, the right and left ICA from the bifurcations of the common carotid arteries and the ICA itself also split in the anterior and middle cerebral arteries. Its primary function is to supply blood to the cerebrum. The vertebral arteries originate from the subclavian artery and then join distally to form the basilar artery , (Cipolla, 2009). The basilar artery later bifurcates into two posterior cerebral arteries , these arteries supply the inferolateral surface of the temporal lobe and the lateral and medial surfaces of the occipital lobe, (Webb, 2016). While the ICA mainly provides blood to the cerebrum, the vertebral arteries are the primary supply to brain stem and cerebellum. Variations in uranium isotopics are unique in that both chemical (redox interactions) and nuclear processes (decay and volume fractionation) play an important role. Four oxidation states known for uranium ions in aqueous solutions (+III to +VI) which usually exist as U+3, U+4, UO2+, and UO2+2 [Gindler, 1978]. Under oxidizing conditions, uranium is primarily present in the hexavalent (VI) state, which can form highly mobile soluble complexes (primarily with carbonates) [Langmuir, 1997]. In a reducing environment, however, uranium will primarily occur in the tetravalent (IV) state. U+4 tends to form relatively insoluble complexes and has higher sorption kinetics compared to the hexavalent state [Langmuir, 1997]. With an increase in measurement capabilities, all three isotopic ratios (relative to 238U) have been shown to naturally vary in some degree due to various factors. The first uranium isotopic that was discovered to have natural variation was 234U/238U, the increased abundance of 234U in seawater (~15%) perhaps being the best example [Chen et al., 1986]. Variations in 234U are a consequence of an increased mobility of 234U relative to other uranium isotopes due to redox interactions. Although there are many estate planning concepts and provisions from a taxationperspective these concepts are two expansive and often to specialized to be covered all at once or to be relevance to a wide audience. Having said this, it is important to note that there are some foundational concepts that taxpayers and estate planners should be aware of as well as their most up to date application. Some of these concepts along with figures relevant to the 2015 taxyear are listed below. 1.Federal Unified Credit Exemption: The Unified Federal Credit exemption allows for non taxable transfers, through gifts during one s lifetime or through estates upon ones death, up to a specified dollar value (Daily Quinn, 2014). This value often increases, similar to the level of inflation, so that the exemption does not become diluted. In 2015 the Unified Federal Credit exemption was increased from $5.34 million to $5.43 million dollars (Jacobs, 2014). 2.NYS Unifies Exemption Amount: comparable to the federal credit exemption, the state exemption accomplishes the same purposes. It s in the narrowest section of the straits of Dover with just 21 miles between England and France: in fact, on a clear day you can see France. This makes the castle well placed to be the guard post of England . The castle s incredible strategic location was acknowledged by William the Conqueror, Henry II, the 1770s British Government and even by the British Army in both World War Iand World War II. Through the ages, each of these individuals and organisations built new parts and strengthened the existing castle. Their overall goal was to keep England secure. Before Dover Castle was built it was an Iron Age hill fort, this made this location a perfect place to put a castle because it gave fantastic views not only over their land, but also because of the aforementioned view of France. This meant that when the castle was eventually built on this site it was a lot harder to attack and a lot easier to defend. This proves to be the case as the castle has never been successfully attacked. Furthermore this provided Dover with a strategic advantage locally and also nationally because of its fantastic location. The Romans arrived in southern Britain in AD 43, but not much happened on the south coast until 270 AD when 9 forts were built, including one in Dover. Just a brief reminder for anyone who hasn t watched the show for quite some time, as this concept is fundamental in understanding our main character, the premise of this theory goes as follows: forging intimate relationships, despite our best intentions, causes shared emotional pain; therefore, provoking guarded behavior and overall weaker relationships due to the lack of intimacy. This explains Shinji s maladroit encounters with female characters in the show, and his reluctancy to solidify lasting relationships. He has become content to live in the imaginary shell that is his happy place, believing that expressing his true self will cause unintended harm to others and himself. Hideaki Anno, to his credit, overlaid his permeating depression into a fourteen year old character, that, for the most part, comes through as feeling authentic. Why was Mesmer s method of testing his idea problematic in light of the scientific method? The origins of hypnosis came from a physician known as Franz Anton Mesmer who some would say related an effective therapy based on the idea that illness, mental or otherwise, was the result of misaligned magnetic forces within someone who is experiencing extreme distress. Mesmer earned his medical degree and had a thriving practice but he also had a passion for science and kept up to date with current developments. He was interested primarily in recent discoveries of electricity and magnesium. He believed that magnesium directly affected humans and that good health was a direct result of aligned internal magnetic forces. He believed that if these forced did not align that a person would be either mental or physically ill or both. Since it was believed that illness was created by the forces opposing each other as a physician and scientist he believed in order to cure illness these forces needed to straighten out within the body. However, it ends up just making things worse. In her article, Almendrala said, Their children grow up without knowing simple skills like cooking, cleaning, or even doing laundry. They also have a higher risk of depression, are likely to lack self confidence, and will have less initiative than their peers. Kids need to learn to do chores and how to help themselves so that they do not have to learn those skills later in life when they need them. For the older generations, once you left the house, there was no going back and you were on your own. Today, almost 65% of young adults end up returning home and 59% of parents provide financial aid, even though their child is no longer in school. While helping children while they are young is what is expected, you shouldn t help them to the point where they are dependent on others in the future. • 30. Government And Law In Reformation Theology . The Protestant Government and Law in Reformation Theology The Protestant Reformation s initiation through Martin Luther s criticism of the Catholic Church with his Ninety Five Theses brought about a united front of Huldrych Zwingli, John Calvin, and Martin Luther and their attempts to reform the Catholic Church, all of whom eventually split from the Church and started their own religious movements. As the Reformation movement flourished under each leader, their theological differences eventually split the movements apart drastically, their differences eventually turning into a massive feud between Zwingli and Luther, each declaring the other as a heretic [1]. Of their many differences, their opinions on the relationship between religion and the state... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Calvin had a very similar viewpoint to Zwingli s beliefs on the authority of the church and state, with some slight differences regarding the level of importance placed upon the church. In agreement with Zwingli, Calvin affirmed that if it be his pleasure to appoint kings over kingdoms, and senators or other magistrates over free cities, it is our duty to be obedient to any governors whom God has established over the places in which we reside [3]. While Zwingli placed more of a balance upon the relationship between the state and church, Calvin asserted that the state only held authority as a direct result of the church, the authority directly approved of by God. In his view, any influential entities within the state only held their influence under God. Calvin first pushed for his theology to be implemented after writing Institutes of the Christian Religion, attempting to reform the religious life within Geneva, Switzerland for two years until he and a contemporary, William Farel refused to adopt religious practices enforced in other parts of Switzerland. Calvin escaped the city under persecution, only to return in 1541 once the council of Geneva had finally agreed to implement his previous reforms under the diminishing influence of the church there. • 31. Social Anxiety And Social Depression Social anxiety is condition that has been described since the days of Hippocrates. Hippocrates described an individual who would avoid social outings due to being timid, bashful, and fear of being misused, disgraced, make a fool of himself, or being sick and believes he is constantly being watched. Will the man who suffers from social anxietyreact differently to mistakes based on social context? A study by Barker, Troller Renfree, Pine, Fox in 2015 attempted to test that. Baker et al. tried to measure the error related negativity, an event potential that occurs 50 ms after the faulty response. The purpose of the study was to see if there is a relationship between the magnitude of the ERN and social anxiety. Barker et al. used two groups of individuals. The first group was a group that hardly exhibit social anxiety and the second group was a group that exhibited high levels of social anxiety. The first group has 10 males and 11 females and the second group had 11 males and 11 females. The individuals were selected by using the Liebowitz Social Anxiety Scale. Participants in the study also completed the Penn State Worry Questionnaire and the Beck Depression Inventory. The reason why Barker et al. selected the PSWQ is because it has shown high internal reliability in clinical and normative populations and has demonstrated the ability to be able to distinguish between the constructs of worry, anxiety, and depression. • 33. Advantages Of Semi-Structured Interview When choosing the most effective research method, you must first decide on the kind of answers you are searching for. A quantitative method will find answers that are easily measured and follow trends and patterns. The qualitative method, however, leads to answers that explore differences in meanings and contexts. This essay will explore semi structured interviews, a qualitative method that identifies themes and responses from preset open questions. The method is utilised for its opportunity to present rich information and answers that would not be found in a formally structured interview. The success of this method is reliant on the quality of its key elements, as well as the assumption of integrity with both participants and researchteam. Because these factors are never guaranteed, this essay will discuss how semi structured interviews may operate to create credible research and where limitations will lie. The semi structured interview is a research method that collects qualitative data from a set of open questions and conversation. It s flexibility separates itself from the quantitative methods in surveying and standardised interviewing (Bryman, 2012). Instead of quickly sortable data, semi structured interviews gather information that emphasise the themes and new ideas. The method structure is very flexible, with only a brief guide to direct the interviews. For each possible print position there is a print hammer located behind the paper. These hammers strike the paper, along the ink ribbon, against the proper character on the drum as it passes. One revolution of the drum is required to print each line. The cycloconverter is a frequency converter, which converts sinusoidal voltage from a constant 50/60 Hz network frequency to a lower, 0 24/28 Hz output frequency for synchronous motors (our Azipods operate at 13.3 15 Hz). The cycloconverter is able to work in all drive quadrants (motor, generator and rotate in both directions) without any additional equipment. This type of frequency conversion uses thyristors to change the voltage and frequency straight from the supply frequency. Motor speed is varied by sending pulses to the gates of the thyristors. These machines can also be started, stopped, reversed and decelerated by regenerative braking. Cyclo converters rectify positive and negative parts of cycle to create an AC waveform at a lower frequency (less than a third of the supply frequency) Lower motor frequency complements low prop shaft frequency. Although a large amount of ripple in the voltage waveform, the current is smoothed by motor and line inductance. Larger frequencies cause higher ripple, so they are frequency limited.
