• Hypertension also known as high or raised blood pressure, is a condition in which
the blood vessels have persistently raised pressure

Essential hypertension
• When people have high blood pressure and the cause of their hypertension is
unknown is Called Essential Hypertension
• Essential hypertension also known as primary hypertension
Secondary hypertension
• Secondary hypertension happens when you have high blood pressure that is
caused by a known disease or condition
Reasons of Hypertension
• Chronic conditions such as kidney and hormone problems, diabetes, and high
cholesterol
• A diet high in salt, fat, and/or cholesterol.
• Tobacco use or drinking too much alcohol
• Being overweight or obese

• Family history, especially if your parents or other close relatives have high blood pressure
• Some birth control medicines and other medicines.

• Most people who have high blood pressure do not have symptoms. This is why
it’s sometimes called ā€œthe silent killerā€.
