What is a food desert?
• Parts of the country
without equitable
access to fresh fruit,
vegetables, and other
healthful whole foods,
usually found in
impoverished areas.
• This is largely due to a
lack of transportation,
grocery stores, farmers’
markets, and healthy
food providers.
