2. Introduction
• Action Against Hunger, a global humanitarian
organization committed to ending world hunger, works
to save the lives of malnourished children while
providing communities with access to safe water and
sustainable solutions to hunger.
• Action Against Hunger saves lives while building long-term
strategies for self-sufficiency:
3. Introduction
• Lifesaving impact in 40+ countries
• 5,000+ field staff assisting more than seven million
people each year
• 30+ years of expertise in contexts of conflict, disasters
and food crises
4. Impact
• Nutrition
• Action Against Hunger’s methods for identifying and
rescuing populations afflicted with acute malnutrition
are internationally renowned, having pioneered
revolutionary nutrition products and field tested
treatment protocols that have become industry
standards.
5. Impact
• Water, Sanitation & Hygiene
• Every day 4,000 children die from illnesses like
diarrhea, dysentery, and cholera caused by dirty water
and unhygienic living conditions. We can’t fight
malnutrition without tackling the diseases that
contribute to it. As part of our integrated approach to
hunger, we’re getting safe water, sanitation, and
hygiene services to communities in need all over the
world.
6. Impact
• Food Security & Livelihoods
• Encompassing a wide array of activities customized to
meet a community’s specific needs, our programs are
designed to bolster agricultural production, jumpstart
local market activity, support micro-enterprise
initiatives, and otherwise enhance a vulnerable
community’s access to sustainable sources of food and
income.
7. Impact
• Emergency Response
• From cholera epidemics sweeping through refugee
camps, to catastrophic natural disasters, to spikes in
malnutrition rates brought on by drought, Action
Against Hunger responds to humanitarian emergencies
all over the world, delivering immediate life-saving
services to populations in distress.
8. History
• ACF International | Action Against Hunger was
founded in France in 1979 among the so-called “second
generation” humanitarian organisations— those
agencies whose identities were forged in response to
the perceived limits of traditional humanitarianism.
Seeking a less deferential role for humanitarian actors,
these organisations sought a brand of humanitarian
politics that could influence political actors and
outcomes, not just mitigate the situation on the
ground. The resulting organisational shift
revolutionised how humanitarian professionals
responded to international crises.
9. History
• With headquarters in the UK, France, Spain, the US and
Canada, ACF International has pursued its vision of a
world without hunger for three decades and is
recognised as a world leader in the fight against hunger
10. History
• Action Against Hunger’s founding took this evolution
even further. While hunger had been addressed in
general campaigns against poverty and poor public
health, Action Against Hunger was established
specifically to combat hunger worldwide, leading the
way in defining the terrain, developing appropriate
strategies, conducting vital field research and
delivering life-saving programmes
