The document discusses how work is done in a turbine. It explains that:
1) The heat energy in steam is converted to kinetic energy as it enters the turbine through nozzles, and then to mechanical work as it impacts the rotating blades.
2) Further work is done as the steam reacts with fixed blades, redirecting it to more rotating blades.
3) As the steam travels through the machine, it continually expands, giving up energy at each set of blades.
4) The tapering shape of the turbine allows the steam to enter at smaller blades and exit at larger blades.

Integrating BIM and LEAN for Project Delivery - Construction of a Major Hospi...CCT International
Webinar presented by Mr. Zuhair Haddad, CCT's Chairman for the Lean Construction Institute on 1 September 2016.
Hospitals are ecosystems of diverse functions: laboratories, imaging units, ERs, surgery and operating rooms, inpatient quarters, etc. This makes building them one of the most complex tasks, specifically room completion systems as each set of rooms have their own furnishing and finishing requirements. This entails the existence of several number of trades, where coordination grows exponentially in importance. King Hussein Cancer Center in Jordan is a prime example with fast track requirements (3 years delivery) which increase the complexity further.
Join in this webinar Consolidated Contractors Company (CCC), a leading global construction contractor who will share the above case study where BIM, advanced work packaging and Lean were implemented in an integrated approach to manage the finishing activities for the hospital. The presenter will share some of key drivers for the success of this implementation:
• BIM authoring requirements to suit project controls
• Leveraging BIM to manage schedule, cost, sub-contractors, and material delivery.
• Installation Work Packages (IWPs) creation
• IWPs management using Lean approach
• Collaboration using BIM to support Lean processes
• Lessons learned.
About the Presenter:
Zuhair Haddad is the CIO, Corporate Asset and Risk Management for Consolidated Contractors Company (CCC). He is in charge of mapping out and implementing the Project Control IT and Communication strategy for CCC group as well as directly overseeing CCC’s Information Systems, Corporate Risk, Communication and E-procurement Departments. He also leads the Plants Machinery and Vehicles (PMV) Department which manages CCC’s extensive fleet of construction equipment. Zuhair holds a Masters in Construction Management from Stanford University and a Bachelor of Science from the California State University of Chico in Civil Engineering. In 2014, Zuhair and two other inventors were granted a US Patent for their invention entitled: “System and method for hybrid solid and surface modeling for computer-aided design environments."
Public Private Partnerships In EgovernmentRobin Teigland
This presentation describes how project success can be ensured in a public-private partnership in egovernment. The case study is of ByggaVilla, a construction portal in Sweden.
The document discusses engineering design parameters and requirements for electrical, structural, and sanitary/plumbing works in hospital and healthcare facility planning and design. It outlines relevant codes, standards, and considerations for site works, building systems, and materials selection. Specific topics covered include electrical systems, structural elements, and plumbing according to Philippine standards and regulations.
Hospital Facility Design: It's Impact on the Patient ExperienceSara Marberry
The document discusses how hospital design impacts the patient experience. It notes that poor experiences are increasingly challenging the human condition, and this is especially apparent in healthcare settings. The patient experience is shaped by the organization's culture and all interactions across the continuum of care. Examples show how design can significantly impact the patient experience by changing the environment from institutional to more welcoming and distraction-focused. It's noted that children's hospitals were early adopters of design to create better experiences, and that patients spend most of their time in rooms and waiting areas, so the physical environment greatly shapes their experience. While staff are the top factor, design still plays a key role in addressing the many stressful aspects of healthcare delivery.
Human-Centered Hospital Design in an Era of Digital Diagnostics, Robotics and...NBBJDesign
From the advent of electronic medical records to personal health monitoring devices, technology is changing the look and feel of hospitals, and how care is practiced inside of them. But as more digital devices are integrated into care regimens, could we lose sight of the importance of human decision making and interaction? International healthcare architect Joan Saba investigates current trends shaping the industry and how hospital design can better enable patients and providers in their quest for health.
Push over analysis-technique - التحليل اللاخطي الزلزالي والمفصل اللدنDr.Youssef Hammida
for performance-based design of building frameworks subject to earthquake loading.
The technique is based on the conventional displacement method of elastic analysis.
Through the use of a ‘plasticity-factor’ that measures the degree of plasticization
the standard elastic and geometric stiffness matrices for frame elements (beams,
columns, etc.)
are progressively modified to account for nonlinear elastic–plastic behavior
under constant gravity loads and incrementally increasing lateral loads.
The behavior model accounts for material inelasticity due to both single and combined
stress states, and provides the ability to monitor the progressive plasticization of frame
elements and structural systems under increasing intensity of earthquake ground motion

Air conditioning for large multistory buildingspnazila
Most large multistory buildings use centralized air conditioning equipment located on the roof or in the basement. The roof allows for fresh air intake and heat rejection while the basement provides easy utility connections and noise isolation. Common central air conditioning systems include central plants, variable air volume, terminal reheat, multizone, double duct, induction, and fan coil systems. Fan coil systems circulate air over hot or cold water coils in fan coil units located in individual zones to control temperature.
This document discusses different types of air conditioning systems. It describes all-air systems which can be single duct or dual duct. Single duct systems provide either cooling or heating through one duct, while dual duct systems provide both simultaneously. All-air systems are commonly used in buildings like offices, schools, and hospitals. The document also discusses air-and-water and all-water systems, which use both air and water or only water, respectively, for cooling and heating. Terminal units like fan coils are used with these systems. Proper duct design is important for effective air distribution and noise control.
The ecoMAX 850i is a universal installation controller that:
- Can control gas, oil, biomass boilers and other system elements like fireplaces through modules and schemes.

IRJET - Variable Refrigerant Volume:- Air Conditioning Part: A ReviewIRJET Journal
This document provides an overview of variable refrigerant volume (VRV) air conditioning systems. VRV systems use one outdoor condensing unit connected to multiple indoor fan coil units. They can save 17-73% more energy than traditional rooftop air conditioning systems for cooling and heating. VRV systems allow individual zone control and use variable refrigerant flow to match output to load. Research has shown VRV systems use less energy than variable air volume or fan coil unit systems in different climates. VRV systems provide benefits like easy installation, flexibility, energy efficiency, and individual room control.

Understanding User Needs and Satisfying ThemAggregage
https://www.productmanagementtoday.com/frs/26903918/understanding-user-needs-and-satisfying-them
We know we want to create products which our customers find to be valuable. Whether we label it as customer-centric or product-led depends on how long we've been doing product management. There are three challenges we face when doing this. The obvious challenge is figuring out what our users need; the non-obvious challenges are in creating a shared understanding of those needs and in sensing if what we're doing is meeting those needs.
In this webinar, we won't focus on the research methods for discovering user-needs. We will focus on synthesis of the needs we discover, communication and alignment tools, and how we operationalize addressing those needs.
Industry expert Scott Sehlhorst will:
• Introduce a taxonomy for user goals with real world examples
• Present the Onion Diagram, a tool for contextualizing task-level goals
• Illustrate how customer journey maps capture activity-level and task-level goals
• Demonstrate the best approach to selection and prioritization of user-goals to address
• Highlight the crucial benchmarks, observable changes, in ensuring fulfillment of customer needs

FIRST ALTERNATIVE (INDIVIDUAL SYSTEM).
-This system consists of indoor unit (inside space) suspended above false ceiling and outdoor unit
It composed of one split unit for air conditioning for each room, and also one fan for exhaust air
suspended outdoor (outside space) .
from each toilet
Heating shall be directly by using electric heaters.
-The main advantage of that system is the easiness of installation and dealing with technicians
-Very cheap comparing with other systems.
-That system requires an outdoor space to install the outdoor units (condensing units) like the
faced of building or the roof in case if existing, and the number of outdoor unit is proportional
with the number of rooms served, so in case of block A for example we will need a free space to
handle 37 condensing units.
-incase of operation of all units in the whole zone the area will be liable to noisy effect.
-Very simple in maintenance but need large number of technicians to check the whole units.

SECOND ALTERNATIVE (SEMICENTRAL SYSTEM).
This system composed from central station for each block, and provide cooled air to each room of the block by a terminal unit .
-there are one central unit feed the block by required fresh air treated
a central fan to exhaust the air from the each toilet.
-heating could be attained by reverse acting of the system in addition to electric heaters.
The proposed system to fit that alternative is VRV system.
The VRV System comprises of :
1-Outdoor air cooled condensing units
2-Indoor units
3-Simple refrigerant copper piping
4-Power and control cables and
5-Remote and centralized controllers for operating the system
-Outdoor air cooled condensing units are easily located on roof tops of the building. They can also be located on each floor, in case of a high rise buildings.
-There is therefore no need for a separate machine or equipment room as is the case with Chiller based system.
Variety of VRV Indoor units are available to suit the requirements at individual locations in a premise and to meet the clients' special needs. Floor mounted, wall mounted, ceiling suspended, ceiling cassette
as well as ceiling built-in type models are available in various cooling capacities.
-very complicated system need to well trained technicians

THIRD ALTERNATIVE (CENTRAL SYSTEM).
This system composed of main central station for generation the chilled and hot water for whole
buildings through an insulated piping network which will be connected to air distribution
equipments inside each room.
-the generated chilled water is circulated to the chilled water network through two set of pumps
installed in series, first one is primary pumps which circulate the chilled water inside the chiller
plant and second one is secondary pumps which deliver and circulate chilled water in the different
buildings.
-and a central feed by fresh air and central fan to exhaust air from toilets.
-water cooled chillers.
-Tow chillers selected (water cooled chiller 1x330T.R+1 standby) are proposed to offset the
Water cooled chiller
calculated load.
-chilled water circulating pumps:
1-primary pumps(1 working+1 standby)
2-secondary pumps(1 working+1 standby)
- A preliminary selection for cooling tower have been made and the flowing in fig are the
dimensions of cooling tower area.
