Different living beings preserve their species in different ways. Females have reproductive systems that allow embryos to develop in their wombs until birth. Males have reproductive systems that produce sperm to fertilize eggs. There are also artificial ways to fertilize eggs, such as artificial insemination which places sperm into the female reproductive tract without intercourse, or in vitro fertilization where eggs are fertilized by sperm outside the body in a laboratory setting before being placed in the uterus.
