DEFINITION:
‘’Fire is the result of Fuel, Oxygen and initial source of heat
combining together in correct proportions’’
TYPE OF FIRE:
Class A: wood, paper, cloth, trash, plastic, solid combustible materials that are not
metals.(Leave ash)
Class B: Flammable liquids (gasoline, oil, grease, acetone). Any non-metal in a liquid
state. (Can boil)
Class C: Flammable gases (Methane, propane etc...)
Class D: Metal base fire (welding slag etc….)
Class E: Electrical (energized electrical equipment)

HOW TO USE A FIRE EXTINGUISHER
 Look for a wind direction. stand at upwind direction
 Check the fire extinguisher gauge
 Check the fire extinguisher with handle and pull out safety pin
 Place hose and nozzle assembly under thump of hand holding
the lever
 Attack fire with nozzle
 Distance should be 7 to 10 feet from fire
 After use, invert extinguisher and squeeze nozzle operation lever fully to release
all pressure.
