This document describes using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) to separate and identify photosynthetic pigments from the leaves of Pleomele angustifolia. HPLC is commonly used for its advantages of speed, high resolution, and sensitivity. The document outlines the extraction of pigments from the leaves using methanol and their separation using different HPLC columns and solvent systems. Six pigments were identified including violaxanthin, zeaxanthin, chlorophyll b, chlorophyll a, α-carotene, and β-carotene by comparing their absorption spectra to references.
