Fm And Boston s Radio Wars Case Summary
Case Analysis:
WFNX 101.7 FM and Boston s Radio Wars
Situation Overview
WFNX was started in 1983 by The Phoenix Media/Communications Group, with the intent to appeal to the
newspaper s same audience of educated, affluent, single professionals and students seeking different opinions from
those offered by mainstream media. WFNX was a first mover in the new wave or alternative rock music genre
they offered something different and had a firm commitment to the local music scene, and quickly became a leader
in Boston s new music radio niche.
As alternative rock caught on and WFNX s competitors began to pounce on the station s previously unique market
positioning, their struggles focused around a particular dilemma: How could a ... Show more content on

These strategies seem vital if WFNX hopes to take back market share and create sustainable presence in the long
term.
Lastly, it would be wise for the station to invest in market research and to continue to differentiate themselves
through strong positioning and reinforced values, but these initiatives may be better suited for future
implementation, since the station s positioning and connection with/loyalty from their existing audience has
historically been one of the station s strengths.
(See optional Appendix A with full SWOT Analysis for support)
Appendix A: WFNX SWOT Analysis
STRENGTHS Clear positioning in the market When asked, the station was easily recalled and recognized for their
alternative music genre, despite lower ratings than competitors. Original founder of alternative music Widely
recognized as the leader in their space, awarded Alternative Station of the Year by several trade magazines, and
accredited by music industry critics. Known for being closest to the street , WFNX claimed to be a niche marketed
station that did not desire to have the mass popularity and resulting market share of more mainstream stations like
WBCN. Low operating costs The biggest costs for a typical radio station included staffing costs, licensing fees and
marketing investment.

Patrick Henry Accomplishments
Patrick Henry was the first and sixth governor of Virginia.
He grew up in Studley, the family farm, in Hanover County, Virginia.
He had strong feelings about freedom. Give me liberty, or give me death!
His parents gave him a business to run, but he shortly bankrupted it. He took the bar exam, passed, and became a
lawyer. He lived from May 29, 1736, to June 6, 1799. He was elected to Virginia House of Burgesses in 1765,
admitted to the Bar of the General Court in Virginia in 1769, elected to the Continental Congress in 1774, Virginia
Militia Leader in 1775 and Governor of Virginia, 1776 1778, 1784.
Patrick Henry created Stamp Act Revolution, effectively starting Revolutionary War. He governed the largest state

He made the Stamp Acts, which perturbed the British. They then sent more troops over and started the war. Patrick
Henry faced challenges before he became successful. At the age of 15, Henry ran a store for his father. The
business didn t last, and Henry had his first taste of failure. He married Sarah Shelton, the daughter of a local
innkeeper, in 1754. As part of his wife s dowry, Henry received some farm land. He tried growing tobacco there
for three years, but he didn t fare well in this new venture either. In 1757, Henry and his wife lost their farmhouse
to a fire. He then managed a tavern for his father in law and studied to be a lawyer. In 1760, he secured his law
license. For my part, whatever anguish of spirit it may cost, I am willing to know the whole truth; to know the
worst, and to provide for it. Patrick Henry was motivated by the people that suffered from British taxation. He
wouldn t have been motivated to end taxation if no one was being taxed.
Patrick Henry s main accomplishment impacted America because it was the turning point to war. Without the war,
we wouldn t have been independant. Patrick Henry s accomplishment had a great impact. Without it, we would not
be a free country. It politically started the Revolutionary War. The most important thing that we should remember
about Patrick Henry is his desire to end British taxation.

The Consequences Of Patriotism As Moral Justification
Joshua Soifer Ms. Pultz English 9B 12 June 2017 Et Tu, Machiavelli The Consequences of Patriotism as Moral
Justification Civil rights activist Malcolm X once claimed that You re not supposed to be so blind with patriotism
that you can t face reality. Wrong is wrong, no matter who says it . Patriotism plays a principal role in Shakespeare
s Julius Caesar. In Julius Caesar, Shakespeare uses the actions of Brutus in order to demonstrate the immorality of
taking patriotic duty to be an absolute duty. This is an important principle which allows us to interpret the actions
of Brutus, and his influencers, throughout the play. This idea has been supported and discussed by many
philosophers, and is still just as relevant in the world today. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, this noble impulse is what leaves him open to manipulation by his friend Cassius. Cassius wants Caesar
killed, for less noble reasons, and is willing to use deception and manipulation to obtain his goal. Brutus sense of
duty and patriotism provides him with the opportunity to get Brutus to act as Cassius wishes him to. One example
of Cassius manipulation is found when he claims to Brutus that the noble Romans wished for Brutus to defeat
Caesar, and take his power for the good of Rome. He claims that [He has] heard, / Where many of the best respect
in Rome / Except immortal Caesar, speaking of Brutus / And groaning underneath this age s yoke, / Have wish d
that noble Brutus had his eyes (1.2.58 62). Cassius then begins his greatest deception, through faking letters from
the people of Rome, convincing Brutus that murdering Caesar was best for Rome. Cassius describes how he will ...
in at his windows throw, / As if they came from several citizens, / Writings all tending to the great opinion / That
Rome holds of his name; wherein obscurely / Caesar s ambition should be glanced at (1.2.315 319). Cassius
convinced Brutus, using his view that patriotism was a more important moral ideal than any other, to murder
Caesar due to the falsified views of the people. In this way, Brutus was swayed by his patriotism in order to
commit an immoral deed, that of killing his friend, Caesar. This decision has

The Influence Of Arts And Education In Early Medieval America
Before its unification in 1870, the country now known as Italy was comprised of cities. These cities were
controlled and protected by the Holy Roman Empire until they won the right to govern themselves in the 12th
century. The foreign emperor s lack of attention allowed the cities to slowly transform into city states and begin to
build their own culture. The 1200 s became a time of many changes for Italy. The promotion of the arts and
education flourished throughout the city states. Medieval universities were founded across Europe in the 12th
century. Only men were allowed to attend, and were often members of religious orders working as clerics. These
universities offered two curriculums, trivium and quadrivium, to their small student population. Trivium, the most
popular, consisted of grammar, rhetoric, and logic. Quadrivium was composed of music, astronomy, geometry, and
mathematics. Some students went on to study medicine, law, or theology after completing these curriculums. ...

Poetria Nova by Geoffrey of Vinsauf was often used to help teach the desired curriculum. Although most of his life
remains a mystery, Geoffrey of Vinsauf played a huge role in developing grammar in the early medieval
grammarian movement in 1200. Because of its focus on ars poetria, the movement was named preceptive grammar
by James J. Murphy in 1971. Ars poetria, a subdivision of grammatical art or ars grammatica, synthesizes both the
grammatical and rhetorical aspects of trivium. Poetria Nova not only used many of the methods created during this
grammar movement, but it helped explain the relationship between nature and art to

Neurological Disability
Everyone possesses an innate superpower; and some people just have a unique kryptonite. Regardless of what one
s kryptonite is, everyone has something to offer the world. Rather than focus on someone s disabilities we should
be celebrate and foster the growth of their abilities, as that is how we can close the gap. At six years old I was
diagnosed with multiple, severe learning disabilities. The main concern of my parents, teachers, and doctors was
Dysgraphia, a neurological disability that affects my ability to physically write. I attended weekly Occupational
Therapy sessions, where for three years Cathy, my OT tried to help me form letters in an effort to teach me to
write, it didn t work. After three years, Cathy told my parents that I had ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

As a result they are often pushed beyond their limits. The reality is, people with disabilities often must work
significantly harder to achieve the same outcomes, as their neuro typical peers are able to achieve with minimal
effort[2]. In this case, the hearing the sentiment, if you just tried harder. If you focused more. if you really put your
mind to it. you could do it over and over is extremely discouraging, especially when you know you are trying your
absolute hardest. Not only is it demoralizing, but also implying that disabled people can and should be able to do
more, undermines their struggles and invalidates their identity as a disabled person. If lack of motivation were
really the cause then it would be an easy fix, but it s not lack of trying that causes developmental disabilities, it s

Comparing A P and An Ounce of Cure Essay
Comparing A P and An Ounce of Cure
If a reader is given two short stories, two stories that are seemingly different on the surface, to read and compare
and contrast, a surprising amount of similarities and differences can be found. Unless they deal with the same
subject matter, most short stories aren t really related, until some analysis is done. The stories A P, by John Updike,
and An Ounce of Cure, by Alice Munro, are very similar but very different. One of the mot important similarities
between these two stories is the problems the opposite sex causes for the main character. In A P, Sammy, the main
character, quits his job because he thinks that his boss has mistreated and embarrassed three young ladies that were

In An Ounce of Cure, the main character and her mother have to use and ounce of cure to try and make up for the
main character s mistakes. If only an ounce of prevention had been used, there wouldn t have been any of those
horrible problems that arose. These two stories are also very different. The main difference is that Sammy takes
less dramatic measures to resolve his problems than the girl in An Ounce of Cure. Sammy only quits his job. Since
he is young and it is summer time, he shouldn t have any problems finding another job. The girl in An Ounce of
Cure, however, takes far more drastic measures to solver her problems. She tries to kill herself, gets drunk, and
endangers the lives of the two young children that she supposed to be watching. Another difference is that An
Ounce of Cure has far less detail in it than in A P. An Ounce of Cure is much longer, but much more
straightforward. It gives the story and a few extra details, but not many. On the other hand, A P Sammy gives vivid
details of everything around him. He paints a very clear picture of the store, the young ladies, the other shoppers,
and his every thought. Both main characters in these stories have very different attitudes towards everything.
Sammy, in A P, is very self assured. He realizes that he may be making a mistake halfway through quitting his job,
but goes through with it anyway. By reading into his thoughts, the reader can infer that he is around the ages of

How Eleanor Roosevelt Changed The World
Eleanor changed the way we view our first lady. We now know them as independent women who happen to have
their husbands in Office. They take charge of changing the United States for the better of the citizens of the United
States. Eleanor is the niece of the former president Theodore Roosevelt. She was born into wealthy New York
family. Her father Elliott Roosevelt was a alcoholic and had a narcotic addiction. When their family went overseas
for a vacation they sent Elliott to an asylum in France. Later Theodore sent him to an alcoholic center to help,
located in Dwight,Illinois. Anna Hall Roosevelt, Eleanor s mother, died very early and was a shock to the entire

Rioting Of The Stamp Act Of 1765
There are significant differences between the two days of rioting that took place after the passing of the Stamp Act
of 1765, by the British government. The first day of rioting, August 14, 1765, can easily be linked to the passing of
the Stamp Act, were it was proposed by the British Government for the colonist to pay an extra tax on all the paper
that they used. This first riot came about as a rebellion against the implementation, and against the facilitators, of a
tax that was seen unfair. The anger of the colonist was clearly directed towards officials, exemplified by the
leveling of what was supposed to be the stamp building. The rioters then directing their anger towards the man
who would be the stamp distributor for the Massachusetts

Carbohydrate Loading to Enhance an Athlete s Performance
In order to reach their peak performance, many endurance athletes experiment with altering their diet before a long
race. This is because diet is particularly important for athletes who must sustain moderate to high energy levels for
long periods of time (Walker et al, 2000). In recent years, this is where the idea of carbohydrate loading has come
into play. My question deals with the effectiveness of carbohydrate loading on the day before a competition. I want
to know if carbohydrate loading loads on the success of the individual s performance. Carbohydrates are seen as
our body s primary source of quick energy. However, they provide another significant function to the individual.
When ingested they can transform into glycogen that is later stored in the muscles and liver (Mayo Clinic, 2006).
This glycogen in the muscles is the body s fuel for training and competing and starts to deplete as you exercise at a
high intensity (Heaner, 2004). Without exercise, the glycogen levels of muscles remain high. Then, as the athlete
trains, these levels are used as fuel and become depleted. The resulting very low glycogen levels within an athlete
are the primary source of physical exhaustion (Peterson, 1996). In order to prevent this muscle fatigue, athletes
and their nutritionist have resorted to relying on fueling up on more carbohydrates prior to an event (Kersick al,
2008). Some side effects to this carbohydrate rich diet include upset stomach, diarrhea, and constipation

Oedipus And Jocasta Relationship
At this point, Jocasta would have been obligated to at least start further dialogue on the subject to inquire into his
background and ensure that Oedipus was indeed not her son. As a result, the scars on Oedipus s ankles and his
limp were more than enough evidence to put the responsibility on Jocasta to further inquire into the matter before
marrying Oedipus, and puts the blame on her for the marriage that results. Another similar piece of evidence that
should have helped Jocasta to identify Oedipus as her son is that his appearance resembled that of her first
husband, Laius; this combined with the fact that Jocasta did not know for sure if her son was dead was more than
enough to obligate Jocasta to further inquire into the background of Oedipus. When Oedipus asks Jocasta about
the appearance of Laius, she responds that his build ... wasn t far from yours (818). Since, as previously

Oedipus communicates his prophecy, that he would kill his father and marry his mother, to Jocasta within the text
of the play, and Jocasta also reveals that she had an extremely similar prophecy, that her son would kill his father

had extremely similar prophecies, and further research would have lead them to discover that they were, indeed,
mother and son. It is not revealed whether Oedipus and Jocasta had ever had that conversation, but after being
married to Oedipus for many years, it would have been inexcusable for Jocasta to never have simply
communicated with Oedipus about something as important as a prophecy. This is another piece of evidence that
Jocasta had which places the blame for the tragedy on her even if she was ignorant to

Yanek Book Reports
Intro: This book is about a Jewish boy named Yanek. This gives an inside look of what happened to Jewish people
in the 1940s. He had a very hard life in the 6 year time duration he spent in the ghetto and concentration camps.
Setting: The book starts off in Krakow, Poland. It takes place in a 6 year time span which started in 1939 and
ended in 1945. In those 6 years he went on two death marches and went to eight concentration camps. Although
the story took place in several locations one word describe almost all of them. That word is filthy. I will explain

Wealth Inequality In America Analysis
Making the Ladder More Accessible for The Poor Class After watching the video Wealth Inequality in America
(2012) and reading the article Apple s Retail Army, Long on Loyalty but short on Pay by David Segal (2012), I
started reflecting on how blind we have become to the conception of America s growing economy. While the
social stratification is an ideal ladder, for the poor to middle classes to seek for economical growth to reach the top,
the wealth class. There s a misconception on how corporations are helping society s economic growth. While
growing in value for its shareholders, corporations are rising inequality among the workplace. The reality of an
uneven economy is notorious for the poor, yet its magnitude is not imaginable by many. President Barack Obama
has tried to address this issue with a proposal of raising ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Where from the poor to the wealth class its growing is like the side of a pyramid. But one of the main problems
begins with the inequality of opportunities in the workplace. As an example Apple, Inc, a company which
produces thousands of dollars each year, but its employees are just given a little more than the minimum wage
with no commission. A perfect salary for someone who doesn t have a family and requires very low maintenance.
Yet, Apple, Inc keeps launching new products and growing in value, where the employees are taught how to sell
them in a way that the customer feels appreciated. But the company doesn t apply its same teaching to treat its
employees, as they must accept that they are given an opportunity in a worldwide known company and there s
more solicitors for the position. Employees are expected to last couple of years as there s no professional growth.
This a clear example that the poor class must settle for a low wage, but isn t given the opportunity to go up the

The Themes And Differences Of Star Wars And Star Trek
Star Wars and Star Trek are both a part of the science fiction genre and are about space exploration. They both take
place in the far reaches of the galaxies, on unique planets with imaginative and distinct species. In both series the
planets are united in some way, Star Trek has The United Federation of Planets and Star Wars has the Galactic
Empire. They both have a ship that they are famous for, Star Wars has the Millennium Falcon and the Death Star
while Star Trek has the USS Enterprise. Each ship has similar means of transportation, Star Trek has warp drive
where Star Wars has Hyperspace. There are differences in the main objective of both series. Star Wars is mainly
about conflict, a constant battle between the light and the dark as the characters strive to balance their sides of the
force. Whereas Star Trek is mainly about peace, space exploration and going where no man has gone before. Star
Trek is a bit more logical and grounded in science while Star Wars induces supernatural elements such as the force.
Therefore, Star Trek is science fiction while Star Wars can mainly be thought of a science fantasy. In addition to
science, Star Trek focuses on topics like ethics and morality and problem solving. Star Trek often tried to tackle
controversial topics in society and to teach its viewer s life lessons such as acceptance to diversity. In 1968 Star
Trek aired the episode Plato s Stepchildren where Captain Kirk and Lieutenant Uhura Kissed. This kiss is

Compare And Contrast The Expansion Of The Late...
Before the late nineteenth and early twentieth century, we see the United States claiming and expanding beyond
their original borders that are even today still claimed as theirs. Even though this expansionism had been against
the Farewell Address of George Washington, it had led to established borders we have today in the United States
and added to much prosperity eventually earned in the lands. After the Spanish American War, the United States
had been growing in their amount of power and control to the point where they were considered to be a world
power. They had been conquering more and more land and territories during the Progressive Era than ever before,
this had been considered to be a continuation of earlier expansionism of the American people and states. Some of
this expansion had been due to the help of allies, treaties, land purchases, and war. In fact, the way in which these
lands were gained had been a departure in how the expansionism of the United States played out in both the past
and present periods.
A way the late nineteenth and early twentieth century s expansion compares to the past expansionism is by the way
they go against the orders of George Washington s Farewell Address of 1796. The purpose of the farewell address

Eharmony Case Study Essay
Central Issue In the new world of making a name for yourself, one of the most important characteristics of human
culture has begun to be lost. Love, relationships, marriage, etc. have all begun to be swallowed by the notion that
in order to be successful in this world, your full attention, time, and money must be put into your career. Before the
20th century, life was simple and universal. Men brought home the bacon while women stayed at home washing

Now the central problem for eHarmony has begun. eHarmony established itself as the leading matchmaking
company but with competitors threatening to take market share, the company needed to find a way to preserve its
reputation and remain the top matchmaking website for long term relationships.
Industry Environment
Beginning with Internal Rivalry, eHarmony faced a lot of competition within the industry. The most notable
competition rested in pricing. There were hundreds of dating sites on the web pertaining to many different types of
people. Some were broad and inviting for everyone, others specific to only a certain demographic whether it be
race, religion, and/or even marital status. Along with these dating sites, were social networking sites but these
proved to not generate much competition.
Some sites had membership fees while others were free. The free sites were generally not as well run and were not
successful in creating long standing relationships. However the fact that they were free forced membership sites

Mandaean Chapter 4
In Chapter 4, Turning the Tables on Jesus: the Mandaean View , by Jorunn Jacobsen Buckley, states that studying
the descendents of the firsts followers of Jesus, we can have a better understanding of the social history of the
early Christians. The Mandaeans were known as the knower s or Gnostics and they are the only ones that survived
that have a connection to the early Christians. Mandaeans have their own spoken language and religion with
unique ritual practices. In addition, their cultural traditions come from their literature text. Mandaean ritual s
purpose is to control or overcome evil, which makes them believe that this has saved them from extinction.
Mandaean people way of life is through their religion and history, today we can even find them. Buckley states
that evidence suggests that the Mandaean people may have originated in Palestine during the time of John the
Baptist and Jesus. The Mandeans see themselves as former Judeans from Jerusalem because of traditional
practices. The most important evidence is the linguistic evidence and historical legend in some of Christian text;
for example, the Characene scripts, were the Mandaic languages appears. Although there are other scripts that

Buckley uses the Haran Gawaita, a collection of myths, traditions and history as evidence to support of the idea
that Mandaeans were in contact in some kind form with early Christianity. Although the text is preserved poorly

Mandaeans. Buckley uses the Haran Gawaita and history to prove which of the five kings were mention in the text,
which proves the timeline and location the Haran Gawaita text refers to. In the text there is version of how the

The Birth Of A Child Is A Miracle
People say that the birth of a child is a miracle. When parents find out they are expecting a child it is arguably one
of the most exciting events in a person s life. Parents spend the pregnancy deciding on names, decorating the
room, and all of the other things that involve preparing to bring a child into the world. Most parents wish that their
baby is born happy and healthy. What happens when the doctor informs you that your precious child has a
disability? Having a child with a disability completely changes the dynamics of the family and the way in which
they raise their child along with any other children they may have. Parents, siblings, and the child with the
disability must all learn how to cope and adapt with the challenges and rewards that come with having a disability.
While their child may not have been born perfectly healthy, there are ways in which the family can raise a child
and live a happy, fulfilling life.
There are many different childhood disabilities that range from physical disabilities to mental health disabilities.
The most common disabilities recognized in childhood are autism, ADHD, cerebral palsy, down syndrome,
epilepsy, spina bifida, dyslexia, and depression (Scribner, 2014). Most of these disabilities recognized in childhood
are lifelong disabilities that have a huge impact on the child s learning and development. Between 2001 and 2011,
the prevalence of childhood disability increased by 15.6%. While the percentage of physical disables

The Theme Of Dharma Can Be Found Throughout The Ramayana
The theme of dharma can be found throughout the Ramayana. Rama, firmly committed to duty, is meant to be a
near perfect representation of dharma (though he stumbles in a few places, as I will explore in the next paragraph),
an example to strive toward. Here, though, I will examine examples within the text of adharma, and through
examining what not to do, find out more about what to do. I will focus mostly on the actions of three characters:
Kaikeyi, Soorpanaka, and Ravanna. But first I will examine one of the more questionable actions taken by our
hero. Even a few actions by Rama at points throughout the story appear to be adharmic. Though some would reply
that the appearance of adharma in some of Rama s actions is just a result of human misunderstanding, and the
circumstances of those incidents justify the actions, it s still worth exploring why those actions would usually be
considered adharma and what we can learn from them. Rama s attack on Vali in particular seems difficult to justify
why should Rama pick sides in this squabble between family? Even if he is right to intervene, why not seek out
more peaceful means of ending the squabble before resorting to violence? Even if he has to resort to violence, why
not come out and face Vali directly instead of ambushing him while he s busy with Sugreeva? Rama tries to
answer all of these questions when asked by Vali, but none of his answers are particularly convincing, leaving us
ordinary mortals, as Narayan writes,

Marketing Petland
Social. People have become dependent on their pets for companionship, friendship and love. They are an
important and loved part of our families, and it is especially apparent in the spending patterns of these pet owners
(Kadet, A., 2012). Owning a pet is a big responsibility, and some owners take it to a whole new level with the
pampering they provide to their pets.
Economic. Most people are aware of the cost associated with owning a pet, a pet is an extension of ones family
and in many cases people are spending more on theirs pets than they would a child. And even with the economy
tanking, the pet industry still seems to thrive. According to the article on Market Watch spending on pets rose 73%

Petland uses there Pet Councilors to help persuade customers and provide information on their pet needs. These

INTRODUCTION
The Land of New Zealand has shaped its people, as the people have struggled to shape the land. The nation s two
main cultures Maori and Pakeha are as distinct as the forested mountains are from the crystal clear lakes and
roaring rivers, but they are also united and divided by the rugged land they have conquered and tamed.
In all the cultures of the Pacific region, that of the Maori stands out in its rich stock of plays, dances in highly
refined and complex arts. Historically, art has spread throughout the whole Maori way of life, and in this century
there has been a conscious effort to preserve or revive the traditional skills of weaving and fibre arts, painting,
latticework, carving, tattoo, chant and oratory, as well as Maori language and customs. The spiritual dimension of
Maori art is still strongly felt: the taonga, or art treasures, of the Maori are not only objects of beauty

The Instruments Of A Contract
Abstract A contract is essential to permeate a concept implementation between two or multiple parties. When a
person agrees to buy a home, there is a contract with the provider same is the case to our home furniture that we
achieve by contracting with the respective utility providers. Therefore, a contract is essential to enforce a potential
into action. In the pursuit of the instruments of a contract, it is noted that there a potential similarity and subtle
disparity between oral and written contracts. However, justifying an oral contract than a reasonable doubt can be a
daunting than proving a written contract. Some contracts demand to be transcribed and will not take effect until the
vital components are enforced in signed, written ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, the ultimate purpose of the rule is to separate the extrinsic and intrinsic features of evidence regarding
the direct statements to the agreement and its significant antecedent. By that, it will eliminate the alterations that
can influence components of a contract and possible ambiguities that will contradict the commitment and
compliance of a preceding written instrument. In the recent past, most Australian and English courts would
emphasize on the practice and application of solving contractual disputes traditionally. The traditional system
renders the court a freedom to practice jurisdiction without considering the extrinsic values of the transaction.
However, with the intervention of the modern parole framework of assessing evidence, judges admit it is easy to
administer justice. The jurisdiction is verified after critically evaluating the background of the parties and the
contract in a significant correlation to the core aim of a contract. Additionally, in some instances, the court will
consider evidence of prior negotiations. However it is practical in the case where the parties are unaware of the
belying facts and that these facts will not manifest any form of biasedness amongst the contradicting parties. The
approach enables the Australian jurisdiction to obtain adequate background research of a case to administer

Family Health Insurance
Third, I am going to discuss the family s health insurance plans. Alex s employer provides health insurance
through a comprehensive major medical plan with a $1,200 deductible and an 80 20 cost sharing provision and a
$5,000 out of pocket maximum. Alex uses a preferred provider organization (PPO) managed care plan. The plan is
noncontributory so the employer pays the entire premium to cover Alex. Since Marty s father died at age 46 of
cancer, the chance of Marty having cancer is higher. They bought an AFLAC cancer policy for $50 per month on
Marty and an accident only health insurance policy for $45 per month on the children. I think that Alex has a very
good health insurance plan because the deductible amount is $1,200 and also Alex s employer pays the entire
premium to cover Alex. A PPO contracts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Family savings will be based on that estimate. When Marty s income changes, Marty can update his application to
adjust his coverage and savings. I would also suggest Marty have a Point of Service (POS) health insurance plan.
POS coverage will allow my client to maximize his freedom of choice. Like a PPO, Marty can mix the types of
care he receives. Also, Marty would pay only a nominal amount for network care. When Marty choose to use
network providers, there is generally no deductible. If Marty chooses to go outside the POS network for treatment,
he is free to see any doctor or specialist he chooses without first consulting his primary care physician (PCP). Of
course, Marty will have to pay substantially more out of pocket charges for non network care. Healthcare costs
paid out of his own pocket (deductibles and co payments) are typically limited. The average yearly limit for
individuals is around $2,400. I think having to pay $2,400 a year for a health insurance plan is cheaper than paying
$5,000 for uninsured medical

Comparing a Aboriginal and Australian Justice Systems
Interrelationship : Aboriginal Australian justice system :
The recognition of aboriginal customary laws under the Australian Criminal justice system is just confined to
acknowledgement of just the traditional physical punishments at the stage of sentencing. It all depends upon the

officers, officers of the court, lawyers and police officers etc. (Aboriginal Law criminal justice,Law Reform

three lists, federal list, state list and the concurrent list. Things covered under the first two lists are the exclusive

matters of national interest. Judiciary is independent with the power of judicial review. Every state has a high court

Legislature, executive and judiciary have been clearl defined. (Shukla)
The doctrine of separation of power is not followed in England, it follows a parliamentary form of government
where the parliament is supreme. Instead of crown that is the nominal head, the cabinet calls the shots on most of
the matters. (Peterson)

Verbal and Nonverbal Communication
Verbal and Nonverbal Communication
When we are attempting to transfer our meaning to another person, we use three different modes, methods, or
channels to carry our intentions. We use these modes to tell people who we are, how we experience the world, and
the meaning we attach to our experience. We communicate verbally and nonverbally, and often with mixed signals
or noise.
When two persons, A and B, are attempting to communicate with each other, their communication is distorted by
their personalities, attitudes, values, belief systems, biases, the assumptions they are making about each other, their
experience, background, and so on. A s communication to B flows through A s screen and through B s screen.
When B responds to A, B is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are a number of forms of body language. Ambulation is a first form. We associate different meanings to
different ways people carry their bodies from one place to another. How one carries her body, whether she glides,
strides, stomps, etc. tells a great deal about who she is and how she is experiencing her environment.
Touching is perhaps the most powerful nonverbal communication form. The skin is the body s largest organ, and
through the skin we take in a variety of stimuli. We can communicate anger, interest, trust, tenderness, warmth,
and a variety of other emotions very potently through touching. People differ, however, in their willingness to
touch and be touched. Some people give out nonverbal body signals that say that they do not want to be touched,
and there are other people who describe themselves and are described by others as touchy feely. There are many
taboos associated with this form of communication. Persons can learn about their own personalities and self
concepts through exploring their reactions to touching and being touched.
Eye contact is a third form of nonverbal communication. We tend to size each other up in terms of trustworthiness
through reactions to each other s eye contact. Try a little experiment with yourself. Remember the last time you
were driving down the road and passed a hitch hiker. The odds are very high that you did not look him in the eye if
you passed him up.

Decision Support Systems
Introduction The outcome of a situation can sometimes be determined by the choices that have been made.
Decisions are made by individuals based on the surrounding factors. The type of jobs or where one resides are
some of the decisions that are made. In addition, one can be faced with problems that he or she must resolve in
order to learn from it. In the business world decisions are made based on the given factors that are presented.
Organizations can use the assistance of a decision support system to help facilitate with the decision making.

Artificial intelligence of the system can be utilized to make quick decisions (Turban, Sharda, Delen, 2011). A
patient may have visit one facility, but next time visits another facility. The patient records must be accessible,
while still maintain all federal regulations to obtain the information. The decision to admit a patient to the hospital
can be assigned based on that information (Schmidt, Geisler, Spreckelsen, 2013). The decision support system
using structured information can be determine the cost of the treatment. This information can vary on some
medical cost based on contract costs with the medical provider. The decision support system can also assist MFT
with the operational costs. The system can have modifying capabilities to adjust with the times. This helps the
administrators of the medical facilities make quicker decisions that are more accurate. The system can also provide
feedback that those pulling the data can resolve problems and learn from it (Wu, Lin, Tsai, 2002). A clinical
decision support system is ideal for hospitals and medical facilities.
Clinical decision support systems help with the decision making is the management aspect. If the hospital or
facility did not have an effective DSS the daily operation and strategic management decisions can be impacted.
The proper ordering of medical supplies can become an oversight (Medtechmedia, 2013). Management can create
reports and dashboards that provide real time data.

The Cavendish Home For Boys And Girls
The Cavendish Home for Boys and Girls by Claire Legrand is a wonderful book. However, it probably isn t in
your local library. In fact, the only reason that I own this book or even know about this book is because my Gran
had some sort of connection with the author. Fortunately, Claire Legrand was nice enough to give me a free signed
hardcover copy of the literary masterpiece. When I saw this book on my shelf, I knew that it was the perfect book
to reread over the summer. It is full of mystery, suspense, and for lack of a better word, creepiness. There are many
reasons why I love this book. For one thing, the plot is amazing. Plus, it feels like all of the characters have their
own personality and importance to the plot. Furthermore, the message ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
None of them feel like they don t have a personality or serve no purpose to the plot. All of the characters in this
book are each their own person. For example, Lawrence is one of the best characters in any of the books that I
have read. At first, he seems like a nitwit that can t really do much without help. Some of the first words that you
hear of him are, Everyone made fun of Lawrence for this, and really, Victoria couldn t blame them. But as the
book goes on, you can tell that he has much more control over his emotions than Victoria does, and he is very
capable of doing things. A lot of this is revealed by his reactions to Victoria s nitpicks. Whenever she tells him to
keep his shirt tucked in or to make sure that his hair isn t so messy, he just laughs it off or makes fun of her for
being so picky. Also, when he is getting coached by Mrs. Cavendish, (a.k.a, playing a piano with no strings in it
while bugs crawl all over him until he stops, only to be whipped by Mrs. Cavendish) he shows how resilient he is,
and that he still thinks that playing piano is still the best thing for him. Lawrence is just one of these amazing
characters, though. Victoria or even a more minor character, such as Professor Alban, each have their own specific
personality traits that are just as interesting. After reading this book, I was amazed by the way that the characters
were presented and the amount of personality that

Advocating for better laws is very important It is still a challenge for stakeholders to combat human trafficking. It
is difficult for the stakeholders to combat human trafficking because of the disagreement of whether a human

(Kendall Funk, 2016). With the development of better laws, the victims can be aided get out of the life style of

victim and the people that are close to them. With better laws, education programs about human trafficking can be

Another reason that laws need to be developed are with the development of the laws the victims could be able to

postings would not be available unless the development of laws to get the public involved in recognizing that a

George Washington Hayduke, Vietnam veteran from Tucson, Arizona, has a distaste for the way the Southwest is
becoming industrialized. He found it, no longer what he remembered, no longer the clear and classical desert. . . .
Someone or something was changing things (15). That ultimate world . . . of meat, blood, fire, water, rock, wood,

Seldom Seen Smith, a Mormon and husband to three women all from Utah, guides river trips down Lee?s Ferry

  • 2. Fm And Boston s Radio Wars Case Summary Case Analysis: WFNX 101.7 FM and Boston s Radio Wars Situation Overview WFNX was started in 1983 by The Phoenix Media/Communications Group, with the intent to appeal to the newspaper s same audience of educated, affluent, single professionals and students seeking different opinions from those offered by mainstream media. WFNX was a first mover in the new wave or alternative rock music genre they offered something different and had a firm commitment to the local music scene, and quickly became a leader in Boston s new music radio niche. As alternative rock caught on and WFNX s competitors began to pounce on the station s previously unique market positioning, their struggles focused around a particular dilemma: How could a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These strategies seem vital if WFNX hopes to take back market share and create sustainable presence in the long term. Lastly, it would be wise for the station to invest in market research and to continue to differentiate themselves through strong positioning and reinforced values, but these initiatives may be better suited for future implementation, since the station s positioning and connection with/loyalty from their existing audience has historically been one of the station s strengths. (See optional Appendix A with full SWOT Analysis for support) Appendix A: WFNX SWOT Analysis STRENGTHS Clear positioning in the market When asked, the station was easily recalled and recognized for their alternative music genre, despite lower ratings than competitors. Original founder of alternative music Widely recognized as the leader in their space, awarded Alternative Station of the Year by several trade magazines, and accredited by music industry critics. Known for being closest to the street , WFNX claimed to be a niche marketed station that did not desire to have the mass popularity and resulting market share of more mainstream stations like WBCN. • 3. Patrick Henry Accomplishments Patrick Henry was the first and sixth governor of Virginia. He grew up in Studley, the family farm, in Hanover County, Virginia. He had strong feelings about freedom. Give me liberty, or give me death! His parents gave him a business to run, but he shortly bankrupted it. He took the bar exam, passed, and became a lawyer. He lived from May 29, 1736, to June 6, 1799. He was elected to Virginia House of Burgesses in 1765, admitted to the Bar of the General Court in Virginia in 1769, elected to the Continental Congress in 1774, Virginia Militia Leader in 1775 and Governor of Virginia, 1776 1778, 1784. Patrick Henry created Stamp Act Revolution, effectively starting Revolutionary War. He governed the largest state in the US the first and sixth ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He made the Stamp Acts, which perturbed the British. They then sent more troops over and started the war. Patrick Henry faced challenges before he became successful. At the age of 15, Henry ran a store for his father. The business didn t last, and Henry had his first taste of failure. He married Sarah Shelton, the daughter of a local innkeeper, in 1754. As part of his wife s dowry, Henry received some farm land. He tried growing tobacco there for three years, but he didn t fare well in this new venture either. In 1757, Henry and his wife lost their farmhouse to a fire. He then managed a tavern for his father in law and studied to be a lawyer. In 1760, he secured his law license. For my part, whatever anguish of spirit it may cost, I am willing to know the whole truth; to know the worst, and to provide for it. Patrick Henry was motivated by the people that suffered from British taxation. He wouldn t have been motivated to end taxation if no one was being taxed. Patrick Henry s main accomplishment impacted America because it was the turning point to war. Without the war, we wouldn t have been independant. Patrick Henry s accomplishment had a great impact. Without it, we would not be a free country. It politically started the Revolutionary War. The most important thing that we should remember about Patrick Henry is his desire to end British taxation. • 4. The Consequences Of Patriotism As Moral Justification Joshua Soifer Ms. Pultz English 9B 12 June 2017 Et Tu, Machiavelli The Consequences of Patriotism as Moral Justification Civil rights activist Malcolm X once claimed that You re not supposed to be so blind with patriotism that you can t face reality. Wrong is wrong, no matter who says it . Patriotism plays a principal role in Shakespeare s Julius Caesar. In Julius Caesar, Shakespeare uses the actions of Brutus in order to demonstrate the immorality of taking patriotic duty to be an absolute duty. This is an important principle which allows us to interpret the actions of Brutus, and his influencers, throughout the play. This idea has been supported and discussed by many philosophers, and is still just as relevant in the world today. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, this noble impulse is what leaves him open to manipulation by his friend Cassius. Cassius wants Caesar killed, for less noble reasons, and is willing to use deception and manipulation to obtain his goal. Brutus sense of duty and patriotism provides him with the opportunity to get Brutus to act as Cassius wishes him to. One example of Cassius manipulation is found when he claims to Brutus that the noble Romans wished for Brutus to defeat Caesar, and take his power for the good of Rome. He claims that [He has] heard, / Where many of the best respect in Rome / Except immortal Caesar, speaking of Brutus / And groaning underneath this age s yoke, / Have wish d that noble Brutus had his eyes (1.2.58 62). Cassius then begins his greatest deception, through faking letters from the people of Rome, convincing Brutus that murdering Caesar was best for Rome. Cassius describes how he will ... in at his windows throw, / As if they came from several citizens, / Writings all tending to the great opinion / That Rome holds of his name; wherein obscurely / Caesar s ambition should be glanced at (1.2.315 319). Cassius convinced Brutus, using his view that patriotism was a more important moral ideal than any other, to murder Caesar due to the falsified views of the people. In this way, Brutus was swayed by his patriotism in order to commit an immoral deed, that of killing his friend, Caesar. This decision has ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Influence Of Arts And Education In Early Medieval America Before its unification in 1870, the country now known as Italy was comprised of cities. These cities were controlled and protected by the Holy Roman Empire until they won the right to govern themselves in the 12th century. The foreign emperor s lack of attention allowed the cities to slowly transform into city states and begin to build their own culture. The 1200 s became a time of many changes for Italy. The promotion of the arts and education flourished throughout the city states. Medieval universities were founded across Europe in the 12th century. Only men were allowed to attend, and were often members of religious orders working as clerics. These universities offered two curriculums, trivium and quadrivium, to their small student population. Trivium, the most popular, consisted of grammar, rhetoric, and logic. Quadrivium was composed of music, astronomy, geometry, and mathematics. Some students went on to study medicine, law, or theology after completing these curriculums. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Poetria Nova by Geoffrey of Vinsauf was often used to help teach the desired curriculum. Although most of his life remains a mystery, Geoffrey of Vinsauf played a huge role in developing grammar in the early medieval grammarian movement in 1200. Because of its focus on ars poetria, the movement was named preceptive grammar by James J. Murphy in 1971. • 6. Neurological Disability Everyone possesses an innate superpower; and some people just have a unique kryptonite. Regardless of what one s kryptonite is, everyone has something to offer the world. Rather than focus on someone s disabilities we should be celebrate and foster the growth of their abilities, as that is how we can close the gap. At six years old I was diagnosed with multiple, severe learning disabilities. The main concern of my parents, teachers, and doctors was Dysgraphia, a neurological disability that affects my ability to physically write. I attended weekly Occupational Therapy sessions, where for three years Cathy, my OT tried to help me form letters in an effort to teach me to write, it didn t work. The reality is, people with disabilities often must work significantly harder to achieve the same outcomes, as their neuro typical peers are able to achieve with minimal effort[2]. In this case, the hearing the sentiment, if you just tried harder. If you focused more. if you really put your mind to it. you could do it over and over is extremely discouraging, especially when you know you are trying your absolute hardest. Not only is it demoralizing, but also implying that disabled people can and should be able to do more, undermines their struggles and invalidates their identity as a disabled person. If lack of motivation were really the cause then it would be an easy fix, but it s not lack of trying that causes developmental disabilities, it s complex wiring of the ... Comparing A P and An Ounce of Cure Essay Comparing A P and An Ounce of Cure If a reader is given two short stories, two stories that are seemingly different on the surface, to read and compare and contrast, a surprising amount of similarities and differences can be found. Unless they deal with the same subject matter, most short stories aren t really related, until some analysis is done. The stories A P, by John Updike, and An Ounce of Cure, by Alice Munro, are very similar but very different. One of the mot important similarities between these two stories is the problems the opposite sex causes for the main character. In An Ounce of Cure, the main character and her mother have to use and ounce of cure to try and make up for the main character s mistakes. If only an ounce of prevention had been used, there wouldn t have been any of those horrible problems that arose. These two stories are also very different. The main difference is that Sammy takes less dramatic measures to resolve his problems than the girl in An Ounce of Cure. Sammy only quits his job. Since he is young and it is summer time, he shouldn t have any problems finding another job. The girl in An Ounce of Cure, however, takes far more drastic measures to solver her problems. She tries to kill herself, gets drunk, and endangers the lives of the two young children that she supposed to be watching. Another difference is that An Ounce of Cure has far less detail in it than in A P. An Ounce of Cure is much longer, but much more straightforward. It gives the story and a few extra details, but not many. On the other hand, A P Sammy gives vivid details of everything around him. He paints a very clear picture of the store, the young ladies, the other shoppers, and his every thought. Both main characters in these stories have very different attitudes towards everything. Sammy, in A P, is very self assured. He realizes that he may be making a mistake halfway through quitting his job, but goes through with it anyway. The first day of rioting, August 14, 1765, can easily be linked to the passing of the Stamp Act, were it was proposed by the British Government for the colonist to pay an extra tax on all the paper that they used. This first riot came about as a rebellion against the implementation, and against the facilitators, of a tax that was seen unfair. This is because diet is particularly important for athletes who must sustain moderate to high energy levels for long periods of time (Walker et al, 2000). In recent years, this is where the idea of carbohydrate loading has come into play. My question deals with the effectiveness of carbohydrate loading on the day before a competition. I want to know if carbohydrate loading loads on the success of the individual s performance. Carbohydrates are seen as our body s primary source of quick energy. However, they provide another significant function to the individual. When ingested they can transform into glycogen that is later stored in the muscles and liver (Mayo Clinic, 2006). This glycogen in the muscles is the body s fuel for training and competing and starts to deplete as you exercise at a high intensity (Heaner, 2004). Without exercise, the glycogen levels of muscles remain high. Then, as the athlete trains, these levels are used as fuel and become depleted. The resulting very low glycogen levels within an athlete are the primary source of physical exhaustion (Peterson, 1996). In order to prevent this muscle fatigue, athletes and their nutritionist have resorted to relying on fueling up on more carbohydrates prior to an event (Kersick al, 2008). Another similar piece of evidence that should have helped Jocasta to identify Oedipus as her son is that his appearance resembled that of her first husband, Laius; this combined with the fact that Jocasta did not know for sure if her son was dead was more than enough to obligate Jocasta to further inquire into the background of Oedipus. Here, though, I will examine examples within the text of adharma, and through examining what not to do, find out more about what to do. I will focus mostly on the actions of three characters: Kaikeyi, Soorpanaka, and Ravanna. But first I will examine one of the more questionable actions taken by our hero. Even a few actions by Rama at points throughout the story appear to be adharmic. Though some would reply that the appearance of adharma in some of Rama s actions is just a result of human misunderstanding, and the circumstances of those incidents justify the actions, it s still worth exploring why those actions would usually be considered adharma and what we can learn from them. Rama s attack on Vali in particular seems difficult to justify why should Rama pick sides in this squabble between family? Even if he is right to intervene, why not seek out more peaceful means of ending the squabble before resorting to violence? Even if he has to resort to violence, why not come out and face Vali directly instead of ambushing him while he s busy with Sugreeva? Some people give out nonverbal body signals that say that they do not want to be touched, and there are other people who describe themselves and are described by others as touchy feely. There are many taboos associated with this form of communication. Persons can learn about their own personalities and self concepts through exploring their reactions to touching and being touched. Eye contact is a third form of nonverbal communication. We tend to size each other up in terms of trustworthiness through reactions to each other s eye contact. Try a little experiment with yourself. Remember the last time you were driving down the road and passed a hitch hiker. The odds are very high that you did not look him in the eye if you passed him up. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 32. The Cavendish Home For Boys And Girls The Cavendish Home for Boys and Girls by Claire Legrand is a wonderful book. However, it probably isn t in your local library. In fact, the only reason that I own this book or even know about this book is because my Gran had some sort of connection with the author. Fortunately, Claire Legrand was nice enough to give me a free signed hardcover copy of the literary masterpiece. When I saw this book on my shelf, I knew that it was the perfect book to reread over the summer. It is full of mystery, suspense, and for lack of a better word, creepiness. There are many reasons why I love this book. For one thing, the plot is amazing. Plus, it feels like all of the characters have their own personality and importance to the plot. Furthermore, the message ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... None of them feel like they don t have a personality or serve no purpose to the plot. All of the characters in this book are each their own person. For example, Lawrence is one of the best characters in any of the books that I have read. At first, he seems like a nitwit that can t really do much without help. Some of the first words that you hear of him are, Everyone made fun of Lawrence for this, and really, Victoria couldn t blame them. But as the book goes on, you can tell that he has much more control over his emotions than Victoria does, and he is very capable of doing things. A lot of this is revealed by his reactions to Victoria s nitpicks. Whenever she tells him to keep his shirt tucked in or to make sure that his hair isn t so messy, he just laughs it off or makes fun of her for being so picky. Also, when he is getting coached by Mrs. Cavendish, (a.k.a, playing a piano with no strings in it while bugs crawl all over him until he stops, only to be whipped by Mrs. Cavendish) he shows how resilient he is, and that he still thinks that playing piano is still the best thing for him. Lawrence is just one of these amazing characters, though. Victoria or even a more minor character, such as Professor Alban, each have their own specific personality traits that are just as interesting. After reading this book, I was amazed by the way that the characters were presented and the amount of personality that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

That ultimate world . . . of meat, blood, fire, water, rock, wood, sun, wind, sky, night, cold, dawn, warmth, life.
