2. How Did Hannah Baker Committed Suicide In Thirteen Reasons...
In the book Thirteen Reasons Why, Hannah Baker committed suicide. Before she died, she sent
out 7 tapes and on each side of the tapes there were recordings about the thirteen reasons why she
committed suicide. Each side of the tape had a person as a reason why and the recording was of
Hannah explaining why they were on the tapes. The tapes were numbered so after a person
listened to the tapes, they would have to send them to the next person or another set of the same
tapes would be released to the public for everyone to hear. Hannah s First reason is because of a
boy, named Justin. Justin became her boyfriend when she first moved to the town. They met up at a
park and had their first kiss together and hung out for a while. Later though, Justin lied and said that
she had let him. Since Justin spread this... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After Marcus had left when she kicked him out of the booth, she sat at her table and did nothing.
Marcus revealed to Hannah that nobody knew her and only thought they knew her by her
reputation. Later, Zach came to her table to try to talk to her, but she ignored him, so he left.
Zach got mad at her for not talking to him because he stole her messages from her bag in one of
their classes. The bags are in the class for people to tell other people nice things. When Zach stole
these, Hannah had needed them the most because this was when she started to think about suicide.
Because of this, Zach became Hannah s seventh reason why. Eighth reason is because of Ryan.
Ryan was a guy in school who found lost items and put pictures of them through the halls to show
people what other people lose. Hannah showed Ryan one of her poems and he had put it in his
pictures around their school. One teacher in the school discussed what the poem was about and
other people uttered discourteous comments on it. This made Hannah depressed and she started to

3. When I Was Miss Dow Essay
Imagine a world where one could not hide anything. Imagine a world where every aspect of life

every angle. Imagine a world that looked down on individuality. Hard to imagine a world like
this? Unfortunately, this world already exists and everyone already lives in it. The world is
transparent and no matter what, every aspect of life can be seen and assessed. The world that
Miss Dow resides in the story When I Was Miss Dow by Sonya Dorman Hess resembles the
transparent world where nothing can be hidden or kept secret from the rest of society. When one

These groups define society and leave individuals blind to their personal identity and the
characteristics that make them unique. Individuality remains covered up because it threatens
the groups and social normality s that make people feel comfortable and safe. Miss Dow lives as
an alien that transformed into a female human, in order to assimilate and learn about the
humans and their way of life. She is created with two brain lobes, allowing her to feel emotions
and feelings, just like a natural human. Miss Dow s obligation as a human was to fit in with
society, which she was successful in achieving. They come first as explorers, and perhaps realize
we are a race of one sex only, rather amorphous beings of proteide; and we, even baby I, are
Protean also, being able to take various shapes at will (Hess 151). The purpose of producing Miss
Dow and assigning her to assimilate with society was not only to get information, but also to
portray the human culture and the significance placed on fitting in with others and being a part of a
defining group. This shows that our society places more emphasis on fitting in rather than being an
individual with a unique personality, reflecting that the majority of people are insecure with
themselves due to the social expectations set upon them from the moment they enter the

explains the back story more in detail and the movie doesn t say anything about their history at
all. Also the movie doesn t progres their stories that good like example: Ponyboys in the book you

6. The Road Of Immortality And Glory
The Road to Immortality and Glory
Gilgamesh and The Illiad are epics that tell a character s struggle to gain immortality and glory.
Gilgamesh and Achilles s motivations to gain immortality and glory are quite different. However,
their journeys in trying to achieve these things are quite the same. Through the journey of trying to
obtain immortality and glory, Gilgamesh and Achilles teach their audience the true way a person is
able to gain immortality and glory in life.
Although greatness, honor, and dignity are shared influences on the motivations of both characters,
their personal motivations for wanting to achieve such things are different. Gilgamesh s motivation
comes from the death of his companion, Enkidu. Gilgamesh states, Shall I not die too? Am I not
like Enkidu? Oh woe has entered my vitals! I have grown afraid of death, so I roam the steppe.
(59. lines 3 5) Enkidu s death instills anguish and panic in Gilgamesh regarding his own fate.
These feelings of uncertainty and anxiety send Gilgamesh on a pursuit to find immortality, so that
he can live forever. Achilles, on the other hand, is motivated by glory, respect, and honor. It is
imperative to Achilles that he be known as the greatest warrior. This title is crucial to Achilles
because of the immortal fame it would bring him. Each character s motivation for wanting to
personally gain superiority is different. For Gilgamesh, it took the death of a companion before
death and immortality became a fear for

7. Settlers In New England
The settlers who arrived in New England were Puritans, people who wanted to worship God in a
very simple way. They escaped from England to be able to worship God as they liked, and to
recreate a new pious England, which could be considered as a New Jerusalem or as a City upon a
Hill . Consequently, their government reflected these ideas.
New England was governed in a way that promoted the glory of God and the settlers own common
good. The state was divided into self governing towns: groups of settlers received lands that were
then subdivided, residents being accorded lots in the central area and land outside for farming.
Puritans did not believe in equality as two humans are not interchangeable, in that sense no two
humans are equal. They

8. Analysis Of Dover Beach By Matthew Arnold
(Not) Alone in the Sea of Faith Published in 1867, Matthew Arnold s Dover Beach is short lyrical
elegy that depicts a couple overlooking the English Channel, questioning the gradual, steady loss
of faith of the time. Set against this backdrop of a society s crisis of faith, Arnold artfully uses a
range of literary techniques to reinforce the central theme of the poem, leading some to argue that
Dover Beach was one of the first free verse poems of the language. Indeed, the structure and content
of the poem goes against all traditional romantic love sonnets of the day with a decidedly more
melancholic and darker tone. Whilst respected critic Stefan Collini explores the notion that Arnold
s poem is too focused on the poet s own melancholic mindset, I will endeavour to provide an
alternative viewpoint which will reason that Arnold successfully delivered a wider commentary
about the crisis of faith that resonated not only with Arnold himself, but with the audience. The
poetic techniques that Arnold employs through shifts in metre, rhythm and form serve to reinforce
the change in human condition that Arnold is depicting in the poem. This is perhaps best
illustrated through examining the meter of Dover Beach, which for all its apparent minimalism
and ease, is subtler than one might think. The poem is comprised of four stanzas, which while
differing in length appear to retain a loose semblance of iambic rhythm. If we examine Hath really

While labor relation laws have provided legal stability for employers and employees to exercise
and pursue their respective rights and interests, not all conflicts and disputes are resolved based
on precedence of law. The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) enforces the right of
employees to engage in concerted activities for mutual aid or protection and takes the position that
class and collective action waivers in employment and other agreements are unlawful. Although the
National Labor Relations Act (NLRA) provides employees certain rights, some labor relation
issues decided by the NLRB have been challenged in some cases and supported in others by the
Supreme Court and the United States Courts of Appeals. Murphy Oil USA, Incorporated v.
National Labor Relations Board addresses arbitration agreements that bar employees from concerted

Napoleon s tragedy was that his ambitions surpassed his capacities; Bismarck s tragedy was that
his capacities exceeded his society s ability to absorb them. The legacy Napoleon left for France
was strategic paralysis; the legacy the Bismarck left for Germany was unassimilable greatness

actually be separated into two parts. The first parts relates with the capacities, ambitions and
successes of Bismarck and Napoleon. The second part is about the final result of their reign and
how their reigns could be taken over after such changing of Europe.

Napoleon destroyed by many ways all the other alliances that were made between France and other

One of the two possible answers is that the meteor will hit earth. If the meteor hits earth the world
would end and everything on earth would cease to exist. All time for these characters would
stop and the story would just end there. The lesson throughout the whole book would be proven
true by the characters. The lesson to live life to the fullest with no regrets and that sometimes
people just need to realize that they need to always make life worth living. In the book Eliza
says If it all ends within this next week, would I have any regrets (Wallach 392). With death
being right around the corner the reader is really able to see the characters change and be who
they really want to be. The only other answer to the question would be that the meteor misses. If
the meteor misses then people would continue with their lives. It would take a while for everyone
to recover and bring themselves back from the chaos and anarchy that was happening. People
would have to take time to get the world back in order and have everything run like it did before
the meteor. With the meteor not hitting the would be a giant elephant in the room for the whole
world. In the book Peter says If the meteor doesn t hit would anyone mention it? (Wallach 347).

12. Spina Bifida Case Study
If I were in the position that Sarah and Mike were in, I would agree to proceed with the operation
on the baby. The goal would be to provide the baby to have the best quality of life for his future.
Having this operation will prevent an infection from occurring due to the fluid causing the brain to
swell. (MacKinnon)
Researching the defect known as spina bifida would be highly advised for Sarah and Mike. Once
they have an understanding of what the defect is and the severity on their baby boy, they can then
look into the benefits versus the risks of having the operation. Spina bifida is a defect that originates
while the mother is still pregnant with the fetus. The spinal cord and brain are expected to have
been fully closed and developed by the fourth week after conception. (Mayo Clinic) If the spinal
cord does not fully develop, this means that there is still an opening in what is known as the neural
tube.
The severity and the effects that will be expected on the baby all depend on how the neural tube
failed to close. This involves where the neural tube still has an opening and how big that opening
is. Another factor that has to be considered when finding where the opening is, is what spinal
nerves are involved. (CDC) In the case of Sarah and Mike s baby ... Show more content on

14. Patriarchal Theory Of Domestic Violence
Social Learning Theory In many ways, the differences between men and women in elements of
domestic violence reflect Social Learning Theory. Family violence during childhood years is a
contributing factor to being an adult in a domestic violence situation as either the perpetrator or the
victim (Swan, 2008). Social expectations of men can lead to less men reporting abuse or accessing
treatment programs for victims. It is possible for malevictim to have shame or embarrassment due to
stereotypical judgments on masculinity.
The traditional expectation that women are compliant and submissive may play a role in domestic
violence differences. Societies view on women being weak, vulnerable, and easily exploited
contributes to the physical differences. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Interpersonal Violence is amongst one of the violations these behaviors can contribute to.
Verbal and physical abuse is harmful behaviors that can be experienced. The conceptualized
past, future, and self, gain power over behavior which contributes to inflexibility. Emotions and
thoughts are commonly used as reasons for actions, giving person psychological inflexibility.
This could play a part on why perpetrators use excuses such as, it s your fault, jealousy, and
assumptions etc. as reasons for abuse. Victims also use the inflexibility as excuses for not
seeking help such as it s my fault, I shouldn t have done or said something, or any excuse to
protect their partner. People lose contact with what they want in life, beyond relief from
psychological pain. Patterns of action emerge and gradually dominate in the person s repertoire
that is detached from long term desired qualities of living. Behavioral repertoires narrow and
become less sensitive to the current context as it affords valued actions. Persistence and change in
the service of effectiveness is less likely.

History Missouri, with its strategic position on the Missouri and Mississippi rivers was viewed by
the federal government as vital to Union success. This created a unique set of border state politics

A very sensitive subject and tough question that has been asked since the early 1900 s is, should
controversial sports mascots be replaced with mascots that are not offensive. It is a topic that

Many parents have to make decisions about their careers based off of their unsupportive spouse.
With that many parents struggle to find a way to meet all of their goals and get all that they want
accomplished. Dorment also stresses the unrealistic pressure women put on themselves to be
perfect. He addresses these problems in rebuttal to Slaughter, who says that society has placed
expectations on women from the beginning. Slaughter s opinion about how society views women
in power that leave their job to be with their family as a euphemism for being fired (Slaughter
682). This is incredibly wrong if a woman or man chooses to step down to be with their family it
should not be so implausible that they reason that they have been fired. However, society is not
only to blame for the pressures women feel to be perfect. According to Dorment women are too
hard on themselves his prime example being chores in his household. Personally, I agree with
both authors to an extent woman are both pressured by society, but also exceptionally hard on
themselves. If women could learn to ignore society and allow others to take on some of the
household responsibilities sometimes maybe some of the pressure would be relieved from their
lives. Although that is a difficult task to ask of any woman if it is accomplished the household
duties that Dorment talks about could more efficiently be split between spouses. Both essays also

As with any other ethnic neighbourhood, The Danforth s presence within Toronto is important as it

ethnic neighbourhood that s thought of As the rest . Unlike other ethnic enclaves, such as
Chinatown, The Danforth is accustomed to the norms and way of life of the city of Toronto, while
preventing the assimilation of its own culture. This makes Greektown one of the more model ethnic
neighbourhoods, and an educational experience for all visitors, as its adaptation to the Canadian
culture makes it a substantially more relatable experience for visitors. In essence, it s not only

21. Cost Reduction Control in Manufacturing Sector
Cost Reduction
There are right cost reduction techniques and there are wrong ones. Using the right strategies will
result in a more efficient company spending. Using the wrong techniques will create a reduction of
expenses required to maintain product quality and company value. It is a fine line sometimes, but a
systematic approach can help managers avoid making serious mistakes in the rush to cut expenses.
Cost management strategies should be utilized as components of a larger objective to maintain
maximum profitability. As such, cutting expenses will be just one part of a plan that focuses also

The article How Junk Food Can End Obesity was written by David H. Freedman and published in

losing weight than wholesome food. Furthermore, the article goes more in depth about the health
benefits and difference between the wholesome foodand junk foods. The title contradicts itself in
many ways. The author talks about the problems with obesity but says that junk foodas a whole
could possibly end a lot of the obesity . In the second paragraph, Freedman states I scarf down all
sorts of raw vegetables like candy (needs a citation here). Throughout the article, Freedman talks
about the health benefits but does not talk about the negative effect. He continuously describes
the health benefits and what the food will do to help people but when it comes to citing the other
side, he does not seem to have that side, he just puts out what he wants readers to see rather than

Sonnet 116 by William Shakespeare comments on the eternal power of a loving bond between two

lighthouse looking over the sea, and not moving despite the forces that move against it. A
lighthouse serves as a beacon of safety and is visible from many vantage points, much like how
love is often seen as an emotion that involves caring for others and keeping them from harm.

views about the if a human could follow Gospel perfectly, they were still a unity that gathered by
God to form the Church, and both of them were doing their best to teach the Holy Spirit of God to
other citizens. Arguing the sense of human sinfulness, Christians could better ways to bring Jesus

the Church, and the Spirit preserved the Church from error. The Church couldn t directly teach the

them. This also shows her selfless attitude, her willingness to go without just to see her family
prevail; this establishes credibility with the reader considering they think Millie is not truthful

Blue symbolized the dark nights, where Count Orlok would spend most of his screen time active.
Red symbolized the bright days, in which there were an abundance of people moving around, and

President Andrew Jackson, born on March 15, 1767, was a man of little formal education.
Described as a quick tempered bully, sensitive to criticism in his youth, his behaviors exuded a
wild reputation. Perhaps the most noteworthy event of Jackson s childhood, was the American
Revolution. Orphaned by the war, Jackson spouted a lifelong hatred toward the British. After
spending all of his inheritance on alcohol and gambling, Jackson decided the best way to make his

This quote highlights the basis half of the plot and conflicts of the The Godfather, and half of
what led to it becoming the American classic it is. From 1972, this inspirational film explores a
highly romanticized version of the Italian mafioso culture. With most of the plot being split into

32. Essay On Option Pricing
Option Pricing
Paper trading really helps you grasp the fundamentals, However, when buying and selling options
in the open marketplace with real money, things change quite a bit. During your simulations I bet
you wondered about option pricing. If you wanted to geek out, you could use a complicated
formula like the infamous Black and Scholes equations. Instead of eating aspirin by the hand full,
let s just focus on the basics. An option is a derivative, which means that it is based on the value of
another asset. Thus, the stock price or underlying asset is an important feature in determining the
pricing. When you want to buy a stock, you want to buy it for a cheap as possible, this works the
same way for options. Here are the factors ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You make money with an option if there is a favorable change in price of the underlying asset, but
this must happen before expiration. Therefore, the longer the lifetime of the option, the better
chance there is for that opportunity. Generally, the more time remaining on an option makes it
worth more However, there is also more time for the stock to move in an unfavorable direction as
well.
TYPE OF OPTION:
The type of option (put or call) is also highly relevant to pricing. Calls are expected to increase in
value as the price of the underlying asset increases. While puts are expected to increase in value
as the underlying asset s price decreases. The other factors discussed can also affect the option.
Options for stocks that pay a dividend are often worth less because the dividend is priced into the
option. VOLATILITY: Some would argue that volatility is the greatest factor in determining the
price of an option in the marketplace. Realistically, all of the other factors, strike price, type, interest
rates, dividend, are known, where volatility isn t. Since options are derivatives, stocks and options
are interconnected. For either investment, volatility is one of the most important elements to
consider. As an option buyer, you can use historical movements in price to make some projections.

33. Sappho s Use Of Imagery Essay
Imagery is utilized in literature to appeal to the reader s senses and to paint a picture in their
imagination. Poets use the images they create to help the reader interpret their writing. For
instance, in Psalm 104 descriptive language is used throughout to praise the beauty of earth as
god created. The poem opens by praising the greatness of the lord and continues into: Who
coverest thyself with as with a garment: who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain / Who layeth
the beams of his chambers into the waters: who maketh the clouds his chariot (Lines 2 3). In these
lines the poet is explaining how god created the natural world. The reader can visually picture god
creating the heavens, in their vastness, just as if he were shaking out a curtain. Attempting to
picture the creation of heaven can be difficult, however, the author uses a simile to help readers
develop a clear picture.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

with so many tears and said this:
Oh how badly things have turned out for us.
Sappho, I swear, against my will I leave you.
The poem is written as a conversation between Sappho and a woman who is leaving her,
probably to marry another. The reader can relate and feel Sappho s heartbreak and relate to her
agony. There is also a senseof fondness between the two women as the discuss the time they shared
together (lines 10 20).
Boat of Cypress, contained in the Classic of Poetry, also utilized imagery to allow the reader to

38. Federal Preemption Should Be Easily Decided
David Gorhan
MBA 610 Business Law
Final Paper: Federal Preemption
January 25, 2015
Cases about federal preemption should be easily decided. The basis of the concept is written clearly
in the Supremacy Clause of the United States Constitution. Article VI, Paragraph 2 states:
This Constitution, and the laws of the United States which shall be made in pursuance thereof; and
all treaties made, or which shall be made, under the authority of the United States, shall be the
supreme law of the land; and the judges in every state shall be bound thereby, anything in the
Constitution or laws of any State to the contrary notwithstanding. (Cornell University Law School,
n.d.)
Essentially, the Supremacy Clause states that the laws promulgated by the U.S. government take
priority over any laws that the individual states have enacted. The forefathers of the United States
understood that while some issues should be under the states discretion, others have more of a
national concern. Based on the Supremacy Clause, states are prohibited from passing laws that are
inconsistent with federal law. In turn state constitutions have also inserted Supremacy Clauses in
their own constitutions that prohibit the municipalities from enacting laws that are inconsistent
with state laws. However obvious and simple this concept sounds, the Supreme Court of the U.S.

The witness understood that it was commonplace at Krispy Kreme to channel stuff in order to meet
Wall Street expectations, according to the complaint.
Some could also argue that Krispy Kreme auditors Price WaterHouse Coopers (PWC) should have
noticed a pattern of large shipments at the end of the year with corresponding credits the following
fiscal year during the course of their audit. Typical audit procedures would be to confirm with KKD

question the spike in doughnut shipments at fiscal year end.
Accounting Irregularities:
The SEC is investigating if Krispy Kreme used questionable methods to inflate profit when it
bought back its Michigan franchise for $32.1 million last year. PWC refused to sign off on
quarterly results. It was only after the firm retained the services of outside legal counsel to verify
the methodology that Krispy Kreme was allowed to put the matter behind them. The outcome of the
SEC investigation is still pending.
If PWC were not already under scrutiny for failing to detect inflated sales, PWC may have
considered signing off on the accounting methodology based on immateriality. However, under

40. The Carbon Cycle And The Earth s Climate
The carbon cycle on Earth is essentially how all organisms maintain life on our planet. According
to the article The Carbon Cycle and The Earth s Climate, carbon is stored inside our Earth and is
released in our atmosphere, plants then combine this element with sunlight and water to go through
the process of photosynthesis. Photosynthesis allows plants to form carbohydrates that store energy
and this energy is later used to carry out life functions. Photosynthesis is also responsible for other
organisms to carry out their life functions as well because the byproduct it produces is oxygen. The
carbon cycle is not only accountable for making byproducts that organisms need to live, it is also
responsible for maintaining the climate on the planet. CO2 is a greenhouse gas that traps infrared
radiation heat in our atmosphere, it maintains temperatures on Earth so that it never gets too cold or
too hot for organisms to maintain life (Columbia University). The Carbon Cycle is responsible for
maintaining temperatures on our planet but it does need help from living organisms to aid with the
process. According to the article What are Phytoplankton, organisms such as Phytoplankton are
responsible for the transfer of carbon dioxidefrom our atmosphere to our oceans, Phytoplankton
take CO2 from the atmosphere absorb it and either get eaten by other organisms or fall to the
ocean floor. This process takes greenhouse gasses from our atmosphere and puts it in the depths of

The documentary, Paris is Burning follows individuals involved in New York s ball culture
during the late 80 s and early 90 s, which included Black, Latino, gay, and transgender individuals
(Green, 1993). Many of the participants in the balls lived in Houses which serve not only as a
team for ball competitions, but also as a family (Green, 1993). These houses are a place of safety
since many individuals are rejected by their families of origin (Green, 1993). The subjects of the
film face racism, homophobia, poverty, and AIDS (Green, 1993). One of the subjects of the film,
Angie Xtravaganza, died from AIDS related liver failure and another individual was murdered

43. Okonkwo Bad Father

Honors English 10
5 October 2014
Things Fall Apart: Effects of Bad Parenting Fathers play an influential role in the lives of their
children by shaping their personalities. This is evident in the characters Unoka, Okonkwo, and
Nwoye who are grandfather, father, and son respectively. The fathers, Unoka and Okonkwo, create
opposing personalities in their sons. In Things Fall Apart, the father son relationships throughout
three generations influence Okonkwo and Nwoye to differentiate from their fathers. Unoka
symbolizes failure in Okonkwo s perspective, causing Okonkwo to strive to differentiate from him.
In the village of Umuofia, a man s accomplishments determine his reputation; therefore, Unoka is
not renowned in his village. This upsets Okonkwo ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nwoye is born lazy and feminine which causes his father to feel worried about [him]...I have
done my best to make Nwoye grow into a man, but there is too much of his mother in him
(Achebe 66). Okonkwo sees Nwoye as weak and not masculine, encouraging him to seek to solve
this. Okonkwo solves this by correcting him by constant naggings and beating (Achebe 13).
Okonkwo attempts to make Nwoye become more masculine but these actions are counterintuitive.
It makes Nwoye, seeking acceptance, turn to Christianity. According to the critic Solomon
Iyasere, The boy seeks his father s love and understanding, but Okonkwo is incapable of
responding to these basic human needs; he considered them unmanly and effeminate. When
Okonkwo is confronted by the failure of his own rigid code as Nwoye turns to Christianity for

His unacceptance causes Nwoye to turn to Christianity to praise his lack of masculinity. Nwoye

44. The World Intellectual Property Organization
Ages ago, people had minimal needs, food and a place to sleep. As generations passed on, humans
became intelligent and smart. Consequently gave a way to inventions, bringing happiness along
with comfort in our day to day activities. However, along with the inventions, came along, those
individuals who want to plagiarize, steal or imitate one s work. Piracy and counterfeiting terms
refer to the goods that come into the market with no permission from the owner. Therefore, to
protect the individual comes in intellectual propertywhich refers to the creations of the mind:
inventions, literary and artistic works; and symbols, name and images used in commerce . ( World
Intellectual PropertyOrganization. What Is Intellectual Property?N.p., n.d. Web. 25 July 2016).
Piracy is when the fake copies of software, movies or any electronic versions of the original are
produced to be sold at lower prices. Goods which are manufactured as a replica of the original
product are counterfeited goods and are sold in the market for knock off prices. Tobacco, alcohol,
food products, designer clothes, watches , accessories, medicines, chemicals, pesticides, perfume ,
cosmetics, body care products, software, games, CDs, DVDs, vehicle spare parts and household
appliances are the most mentioned pirated and counterfeited goods. Let us look into the Fashion
and Luxury goods which constitute a larger part in our counterfeited goods. I do support that the

45. The Environmental Effects Of Acid Rain On The Earth
The term acid rain refers to the atmospheric deposition of acidic constituents that impact the earth
as rain, snow, particulates, gases, and vapor. The bulk of the acidity in rain comes from the
reaction of sulfur dioxide (SO2) with hydrogen peroxide in clouds, a reaction that produces sulfuric
acid. Even though sulfur dioxideand carbon dioxide occur in the air naturally, burning fossil fuels
adds more of these chemicals into to the air. When these pollutants are released into the air, they
mix and react with water, oxygen, and other chemicals to form acid rain. Acid rain then falls to the
Earth where it can damage plants, animals, soil, water, and building materials. The Air quality
policies implemented in North America and Europe in the recent decades and more recently in
parts of Asia have resulted in decreases in atmospheric Sulfurand Nitrogen deposition described in
the previous section. These policies were designed to minimize further harm from acid rain and to
promote ecosystem recovery. Regions that have been most affected by acidic deposition include
Europe, eastern North America, and Southeast Asia, especially central and southern China. Sulphur
emissions have played the dominant role in the acidic deposition in these regions.
In theory, airborne chemicals could cause several types of detrimental effects on aquatic or
terrestrial ecosystems. These effects could include visible symptoms of injury, decreased growth,
and alteration of physiological processes

46. What Are The Differences Between The Divergent And The...
Science fiction is a genre of literature that focuses on possible outcomes of a near future (space,
future buildings, robots, aliens). A good example of this genre are the books Divergent, published
in 2011, and The Hunger Games, published in 2008. Science fiction is presented in both stories in
how the setting takes place in a near future where society as we know it collapsed and it had to be
build from the beginning with new sets of rules. In The HungerGames, Suzanne Collinsbuilds her
story around a country named Panem which is located in some part of North America. The
country was created after a series an uprising lead to millions of deaths and destroyed most of
what was known as North America. Because of this, a treaty was created to stop the war and to stop

Divergent, the people referred as factionless must live inside abandoned building located out of

47. The Porters Five Forces Model
The Porters Five Forces Model was devised by Professor Michael Porter. The aim of the model is
too analyse the nature of competiton within an industry. This means that the porters five forces
model can be a powerful tool (E. Dobbs, 2014). The first of the forces is competition in the
motor industry. There is a high level of competition within the motor industry as the companies
have a high level of competition between themselves especially when it comes to marketing and
innovation this is seen on a daily basis with the sometimes odd tv adverts used by car companies
in order to differentiate themselves. The industry has many firms in it that have chosen to
specialse across all areads such as cost, fuel efficient, brand image and style. However the Auto
industry is segmented as it ranges from high cost and very specialist companies all the way
down to low cost mass production companies. This can be seen as you wouldn t say that Ferrari
is competiting with KIA. However there is a high level of competition between firms. The next of
porters five forces is the bargaining power of buyer which in this case is customers. The customers
of the Auto Industry are what provides the revenue for all of the incumbents in the market. The
result of this is that there are low switching costs in the market place this means that customers
would be able to switch between competing firms for no extra cost. This ties in with the next point
which is that customers also have access to accurate

48. Side Effects Of Zoloft
Zoloft is an antidepressant used to treat depression. Depression is defined as a serious mood
disorder. Depression can affect how you feel and handle daily activities. Depression is diagnosed
by a person having symptoms for at least two weeks. Zoloft may improve a person s mood,
energy level, appetite, sleep, and help restore interest in their life (Halter, Varcarolis , 2014).
Zoloft belongs to a class of drugs knows as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI). Zoloft
helps to restore the balance of serotonin to the brain. Serotonin is a chemical messenger

Religious Characters in The Canterbury Tales by Chaucer
*Works Cited Not Included
When thinking of the figures in the church, they are thought to be loyal, respectful, giving, and
dedicated. Sadly to say this, but not all figures follow that description. In
The Canterbury Tales , Chaucer shows the corruption of the church in the medieval period through
some of his characters, particularly through the Nun, the Monk, and the Friar. Yet, Chaucer does
show one character, the Parson, as goodness and holiness in the church. Nuns are member of a
religious order for women, living in a convent under vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience. Their
orders vary in the stipulations of the vows, some being permanent, and others only for ... Show

One positive point is that she does have a clean mouth and watches what she says. Monks have
abandoned the world for religious reasons and devote their lives, either separately or in a
community, to spiritual perfection. The vows of celibacy, poverty, and obedience under which
they live, are termed the religious counsels. A person bound by such vows is known as a religious.
Chaucer s Monk s sport was hunting. The Rule of good Saint Benet or Saint
Maur (Prologue, 177) says hunters are not holy men (Prologue, 182). He does not keep to his
studies, but instead would rather be doing labor. In addition, he holds worldly possessions, such as
his wrought gold cunningly fashioned pin (Prologue,
200), which shows that he has money. Friars differ from monks, in that the monk was attached to a
specific community within which he led a withdrawn life, having no direct contact with the secular
world.
Friars, on the other hand, belonged to no particular monastic house, but to a general order and
worked as an individual in the non religious world. Thus, friars and monks are not on synonymous
terms. Friars are members of certain religious orders who practice the principles of monastic life
and devote themselves to the service of humanity in the secular world.
Originally, their rules forbid holding either community or personal property. The resulting
dependence of friars on voluntary

50. The Pros And Cons Of Customer Satisfaction
Customers perceive service in terms of tone, but how satisfied they are with the overall experience,
is what defines their satisfaction. Whether the client is satisfied after purchase depends on the offer
s performance or the customer service in this case, in relation to the customer expectations. Yet,
according to Zeithaml et al (2006) although servicequality and client satisfaction are used
interchangeably, there is indeed a distinction.
Customer Satisfaction is when the outcome of the service matches the expectations of the
service. As pointed out by Looy et al (2003), even though they differ one is a part of the other.

51. Factors And Consequences Of The Sons Of Independence
1)Starting with the period of salutary neglect, Parliament set up the colonies to want
independence. By giving them the freedom to do as they pleased without consequences, as long
as they were making money, allowed the colonists to leave how to live as they wanted. Then,
when they needed the colonies to pay the same taxes as everyone else by passing the Stamp Act,
the colonists didn t want to pay it because they were used to making their own laws. Parliament
went from imposing very little regulations on the colonists to trying to control their taxes and that
was never going to go well for them. They had an agreement with the colonists that they would let

The Sons of Liberty did not want pay taxes enacted by Britain and did not want to make any
concessions to Britain. They wanted to live in salutary neglect and nothing else would do. When
Britain started to pass laws such as the Stamp Act the Sons of Liberty resisted and made a case for
their beliefs. They opposed the act event thought they were British Citizens and probably should
have been paying the same taxes as everyone else. Next, when Parliament tried to change their
actions to align with their argument by passing the Townshend Duties, the Sons changed their
argument and resisted the new duties. This created more pressure on Parliament and made them
feel they needed to take stronger actions against the colonies. From this resistance, we get the
Coercive Acts and a stronger British presence in the colonies that lead to an escalating of issues. If
the colonies had accepted that to enjoy the benefits of being a British citizen, they also had to pay
taxes like every other citizen, there would not have been so much tension. The Sons were
completely unwilling to make any concessions to the government of Parliament and that played a

52. 1963 Lord Of The Flies
The 1963 Lord of the Flies personally shaped my interpreteation of the wider world greatly and in
many ways during its insightful representation of society. The first meaning I found in the 1963
film was the correlation between education and societal stability the film presented the idea that
the more uneducated or closed minded a civilisaiton is, the worse off, or unstable, the civilisation
becomes. The film also presented aspects of the true nature of the human condition, highlighting
the differences between mankind s often hidden inner savagery which is thankfully repressed in
modern society, which is of the utmost relevancy in the real world and can be said to be the root
cause of thousands of years of conflict, as some societies allow... Show more content on

This problem is particularly important to recognise in children, where skills such as affective
empathy and perspective talking do not fully develop until as late as age 14. The film presented a
situation where this problem was completely unmandated, eventually spiraling out of control due to
the lack of the greater guidance of the more developed thinkers such as adults. With nobody to
mandate the children, murder eventually took place. Some argue that The Lord of the Flies is
fictional, and the lessons about mankind s savage nature it teaches cannot be realistically connected
to real life it is not logical to judge the savagery of real people based on fictional characters.
However, there are plenty of real life examples of similar if not, more savage violence happening
in real life due to either the misguidance or lack of guidance from adults. During just the start of
this year, in an environement shockingly similar to that of the film, an eight year old child
willfully chose to execute a 30 year old man while his father watched, smiling to him after he was
finished, while he smiled back. This morbid but exceedingly important message conveyed in the
Lord of the Flies film meant many things to me. First of all, it helped explain to me how
important a childhood where compassionate values, which empathy is a gateway to, is to the
development of a person. It made me realise that it is essential to stigmatise bad actions such as
murder and theft in a society, as the film has taught me that these good traits do not come naturally,
and that they need to be taught. Alternatively, it also helped me realise that evil ways of thinking
can be taught just as easily into a
