The Importance Of School Culture
As mentioned by Peterson, K. D., Deal, T. E. (2009) when it comes to school culture there are many
hidden or not visible aspects that need to be considered. For example, we need to take in consideration
things that will promote or affect commitment, productivity as well as motivation. As Peterson, K. D.,
Deal, T. E. (1999) mentioned, School culture influences what people pay attention to (focus), how they
identify with the school (commitment), how hard they work (motivation), and the degree to which
they achieve their goals (productivity)... For instance something things that we take for granted such
as: manners, way we celebrate others, vision mission, ways we even greet others and even the tone of
voice we use might set the wrong culture. Even though, we are all trying to catch up, we need to take
our time to consider what is important and or might affect our school community. Simple things such
as greeting others, parents, students and staff member need to be our number one priority, having time
to listen to their problems, concerns as well as their ideas will also help us create a positive culture.
We need to listen to those unsaid words, hidden messages, we need to focus on what it is important,
setting up the best learning/teaching/working opportunities for all community members. As school
leaders we need to understand, that our voice tone, facial gestures, comments as well as preoccupation
for getting better professional development opportunities, parental involment even the way we
motivate others will become the mirror image we see in others.
Our school is doing many things to foster our vision and mission which is All students are getting the
best learning opportunities... As part of this, the school is running before and after school extended
learning programs in which some students, those whose reading performance is under grade level, will
be invited and motivate to assist. Teachers are having conversations with parents to help them
understand the importance of this initiative. Posters, flyers as well as information had been sent home.
Another way that our school is trying to promote our vision and mission is through the Literacy
Family Night program that is starting on Dec 7, 2017. This

Latin American Spanish And Peninsular Spanish
The difference between Latin American Spanish (LAS) and Peninsular Spanish (PS) is something that
is increasingly prominent in the global Hispanic society. These differences lie in the grammatical,
lexical and phonological features of the two variations of both the variant and the original form of the
language. Latin American Spanish, spoken in countries such as Mexico, Panama, Chile and Honduras
all adopted the Spanish language in the late 15th century and have since made Latin American Spanish
one of the most widely spoken variations of the Spanish language in the world. The difference of the
phonological features between Latin American Spanish and Peninsular Spanish is a prime example, as
the sounds of the vowels can differ depending on the form of the language that is being spoken.
Throughout the course of this investigation, the main distinctions between the two forms of the
language will be discussed in further detail, centring on the grammatical, lexical and phonological
features. It is also worth noting that in Spain there are four different co official languages within Spain
itself, these signifying the four different regions; Basque, Catalan, Galician and Basque . Therefore, it
is clear that even within Spain there is a variance in the form of the language.
Latin American Spanish and Peninsular Spanish are quite different, especially when we look closer at
some of the key features of the language s grammatical, lexical and phonological properties. It is not

The Importance Of Civilization In Iowa City
Civilizations are culturally created environments in which we follow rules, standards, and ethical
behaviors. Iowa City offers multiple signs of civilization, including public vs. private land, religious
vs. secular, and the presence of central control. Through these five characteristics we can identify and
interpret what the environment is explaining to us. My area of choice is northern Iowa City, which has
an environment that tells me it is a civilization through rhetorical elements provided in the use of
space and materials that create it. In Northern Iowa City public space is common. Happy Hollow Park
offers an open landscape with sidewalks and free access. The pathways invite civilians in and show
them where they may go, but do not impose any rules on where they must go. The basketball court
and baseball field have no walls or barricades blocking entry, allowing us to know they are available
for whoever pleases. An outdoor pavilion could be used for family gatherings and parties at no cost. A
free parking lot with good lighting tells civilians that there is nothing restricting their access to the
space. This space is known as public due it s ease of entry and the way the park invites civilians in
with pathways and block free attractions. Therefore, Happy Hollow Park represents public space as an
area that invites every civilian to explore and go as they please. Private space is popular in Iowa City
due to the amount of residential housing. The housing in Iowa City

The Pros And Cons Of Freedom Of Speech
Freedom of speech has central place in democratic societies. In the United States the First Amendment
protects free speech as essential right of its citizens. Other democracies, such as those in western
Europe also have free speech traditions, though none as extensive as the United States . But why
should speech be free? Speech should be free because it provides for a good government, promotes the
realization of truth, allows diversity to thrive, and is a straightforward legislative approach to speech.
Free speech allows the people to hold their government accountable via the free press. A condition of
a good government is freedom of information, and what has been called the right to know (Garton Ash
78), which is the responsibility of a free press to provide to the people, especially when the
government is not being transparent on its own. Without a press that is free to report on public
officials and the government s activity, both are able to go unchecked, at the expense of the people
they are supposed to serve. In addition to this, freedom to expose public figures activities must be
protected from frivolous accusations of libel because the ability to have a journalist accused of libel
for revealing the truth would [threaten] the informing purpose of the First Amendment (Lewis 51).
The United States embraced this idea when the Supreme Court case New York Times v. Sullivan
(1964) decision the court changed the standards that constitute libel to the statement must be false, as
well as published both knowingly and recklessly. This shifted the burden of proof from the accused to
the accuser. Not only does the press need to be free to report on the activity of the government, but the
people must be free to express their wants and needs to their government. A fair and legitimate
democracy requires that all people have a vote as well as an opportunity to have their views heard.
Garton Ash uses the words of Ronald Dworkin to explain this, a majority decision is not fair unless
everyone has had the opportunity to express his or her attitudes or opinions or fears or tastes or
presuppositions or prejudices or ideals (Garton Ash 77). Free speech allows for political views to be
expressed, so that the desires

Arguments Against Adoption
Taylor Barton
English III
Ms. Light
15 February 2017
To adopt and to be adopted ¨The bond that links your true family is not one of blood, but of respect
and joy in each other s life.¨ Take a moment a think to yourself what does adoption really mean to you.
(Bach) When you ask most people about adoption they usually think of all the stereotypical
misconception like adoption is to challenging for me most of those kids have too many medical or
mental problems for me, or that costs way too much. That is the response most people give when they
are asked, but there are some people out there that cannot have children so they have adoption to fall
back on. People often think of how awful it is for parents to put their kids up for adoption, but ... Show

The problem and we need to deal with it, but we have to have perspective and forming a family can
take time. Every way of forming a family can be painful and have its difficulties. In adoption, we don t
have miscarriage, we have other issues, but we have to have some perspective about our own lives and
our own families. (Pertman). All though adoption is painless because you don t have to go through
labor it still could cause you some pain in the process if you get a child with a disability or just a child
who is more challenging. Children who are older tend to be more challenging this is often a big
misconception. When most people think of a older child in foster care or the adoption agencies they
usually think of a kid who is to troubled so nobody wanted them, but when a older kid is in the system
that usually means that they have no one to take care of them. This leads to them trying to act out not
because they are too difficult but because they want someone to care for them or about them. These
kids just need someone who can care for them because most of the time those kids have never had
anyone to care for them. People often think that the adoption process often discriminates against
people on the basis of age, marital status and sexual

Slaves In The Middle Passage
In the Middle Passage (during which the slaves were transported to America) the slaves were treated
as anything but equal. There were a few ways to initially become a slave, including being an
indentured servant, or even being forcibly taken from your country. Once on the Guineaman the slaves
had different privileges, the men were shackled two by two to each other and the women and children
were free to wander about the ship during the day. Often times the women were considered fair game
for the sailors. The living conditions were subpar and the slaves were forced to clean the living and
sleeping quarters. The sleeping quarters were very small. Sometimes if there wasn t enough water for
every slave to drink then they just threw some slaves

Importance Of Communication Between Parents And Parents
The significance of communication between educators and parents has been studied and stressed for
many years because of its impact on academic achievement and success of students. Parental
involvement can have a remarkable effect on the academic achievement of students.
Epstein (2008) found that when parents are involved with their child s education that more students
earn higher grades in English and math, improve their reading and writing skills, complete more
course credits, set higher aspirations, have better attendance, come to class more prepared to learn, and
have fewer behavior problems... (pg. 10). A huge problem is that many parents face today are work
schedule with two parents working families or single parent family not being able to connect with the
school not being able to find the time due to work schedules.
Often times the only when a behavior or an academic crisis happen teachers reach out to parents.
Likewise when a parent experience a problem academically or socially with their child will a parents
reach out to talk to a teacher. Technology is making communication much easier between parents and
teachers.
The most common of the communication between teachers and parents is based off of grades,
attendance and behaviorally. Four times a year teachers are in communication with parents due to
grades and sometimes in between the grade periods if a child is struggling. Some school districts use
printed report copies and send them home with students

Epidemiology Is Not For Diseases Among Human Populations
Background
Epidemiology is the study of how often diseases spread through a population. This information can be
used to help reduce the damage caused in future epidemics and also help to understand the best way to
treat patients of a current epidemic.
The word epidemiology comes from Greek, literally translating to the study of what is upon the people
. However nowadays epidemiology is not limited to diseases among human populations, epidemiology
can now be the study of disease in any defined population.
Mathematical models of epidemics were not used until the early 20th century. When there were early
pioneers such as William Hamer and Ronald Ross who successfully created models that shared similar
properties to the disease.
History
Hippocrates
The timeline of epidemiology starts in Greece with a man named Hippocrates, though now he is often
referred to as The father of medicine . Hippocrates was the first person to observe the link between
disease and the environment of the infected person, and he then began to think about whether the link
might be causal. Prior to this ground breaking idea people had simply attributed disease to a
supernatural phenomenon and had not considered that there may be a rational explanation for the
spread of disease through the population. Hippocrates decided to investigate the environmental factors
involved with disease after he had noticed that different diseases occurred in different locations (for
example: Malaria only seeming to occur in

Child s Play is an odd film when you think about it. Who exactly was it made for? It certainly couldn t
have been made for kids, due to the vulgar language from Chucky, so unless you are sneaking a peek
at the film or if you are like me and were allowed to watch them at a young age, the film must be for
adults. Right? I don t know, cause doesn t you think most people wouldn t have given the film a
chance when they heard the plot? A story about a child s doll coming to life and killing people? Most
people would roll their eyes and scoff at the idea of seeing it.
However, that s today and not 1988 when the film came out. People must have been more forgiving

Oresteia is a script whose story goes on by recalling Orestes lost memories. The main idea which is
prevalent throughout this story is about finding the truth hidden in the acts of revenge, lies, and fates

Spinal Cord Injury Research
Many spinal cord injuries (SCI) patients are suffering from the impairment of impulse conduction and
they are unable to carry out their activities of daily living. Rehabilitation becomes an important role in
enhancing motor recovery and minimizing the deficits of their movement function. The goal of this

the SCI Sprague Dawley rat. The advance of this research is not only the rehabilitation novel system
but also the regenerative medicine novel method from the cooperation of school of chemical and

How Did Napoleon Bonaparte Influence Western Civilization
Napoleon Bonaparte was born on August 15th, 1769 in Ajaccio, mediterranean island of Corsica, his
family was not wealthy and considered to be on the low side of Corsican nobility. He learned to speak
French and was able to graduate from Ecole military academy in France. He was second lieutenant in
the French Army. Although many would say he twisted and bent Europe during his reign in 1799
1815, Napoleon l had the greatest impact on Western Civilizations as well as universal because of his
creation of the Napoleonic Code, educational improvements, as well as his military refinement. As I
mentioned, Napoleon l created the Napoleonic Code in the 19th century. Initially it was a code for the
people to live in peace and have order.¨Under the code all male citizens are equal: primogeniture,
hereditary nobility, and class privileges are extinguished; civilian institutions are emancipated from
ecclesiastical control; freedom of person, freedom of contract, and inviolability of private property are
fundamental principles¨(Britannica.com). This specific textual evidence reveals that ... Show more

With the development and improvement of combat weapons throughout the Seven Years War prior to

Kyoto Protocol And The Protocol
As a basic description the Kyoto Protocol is a document, which legally binds all member countries
that are classified as developed to meet specific emission reduction targets. The protocol brings with it
several Commitment periods , which as the name suggests are periods of time by which member states
are bound to the protocol. The initial commitment period began in 2008 and ceased in 2012. The next
began in 2013 and will end in 2020. Currently there are 192 member states to the protocol. It has been
determined that developed countries are primarily responsible for the current elevated levels of
Greenhouse gases (GHG). The Kyoto Protocol puts heavier goals on the developed countries based on
the idea of differentiated but common responsibilities. The Protocol dictates that there are six primary
Greenhouse gases identified as contributing the most harm to the natural environment, these being:
Methane, Carbon Dioxide, Nitrous Oxide, Hydro fluorocarbons, Per fluorocarbons and Sulfur
Hexafluoride (U.S. EPA, N.D.)
Each nation has their own individual targets. The average target was a cut of roughly 5%, in
comparison to the levels in the atmosphere in 1990 and 2012 (The Guardian, 2012). Some countries
have a different approach to the protocol than others. An example of this is the United States, which is
yet to ratify the protocol and also happens to be the second largest total emitter (second to China) and
largest emitter per capita of greenhouse gases in the world (M.

Future Air Transportation System Essay
2.2 FUTURE AIR NAVIGATION SYSTEMS (FANS) : 2.2.1 Introduction to FANS Future Air
Navigation Systems (FANS) is a concept that was developed by the International Civil Aviation
Organization (ICAO) in partnership with Boeing, Airbus, Honeywell and others in the air transport
industry to allow more aircraft to safely and efficiently utilize a given volume of airspace. Today
FANS is used primarily in the oceanic regions taking advantage of both satellite communication and
satellite navigation to effectively create a virtual RADAR environment for safe passage of aircraft.
FANS play a key role in supporting many of the evolving CNS/ATM (Communication Navigation

I Wandered Lonely As A Cloud, By John Muir And William...
Albert Einstein spoke of nature and its value when he said, Look deep into nature, and then you will
understand everything better. As Einstein pointed out, by looking into nature you could discover
something new about yourself and the world around you. John Muir and William Wordsworth both
discovered joy when they looked deep into nature. This joy gave them a new perspective on nature
and life and they each expressed this joy through different works of writing. Both authors have a
unique outlook on nature and its impact as well as different thoughts on how to share their
relationships; Muir used diction and connotation to show his relationship in his essay The Calypso
Borealis where Wordsworth used tone and syntax in his poem I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud .
John Muir expressed his relationship with nature in his essay titled The Calypso Borealis by using
diction and connotation. John Muir described the Calypso and its surroundings when he wrote:

joyful because he is happy when he talks about how beautiful the daffodils are. This shows how his
relationship with nature is positive since he is happy when watching the daffodils. Wordsworth uses
traditional syntax in this stanza. He uses several phrases divided by commas to describe the daffodils
and their movements. This gives the stanza a playful pace which again expresses that his relationship

turn of the U.S. Government from strikebreaker to peacemaker in industrial disputes (Grossman,
2015). Rather than take the stance many previous presidents like, Andrew Jackson, Rutherford B.
Hayes, and Grover Cleveland, had taken in favor of the industries, Roosevelt choose to seek peace,
which he thought was in the public s best interest. Though the meeting seemed to have ended in the
coal operators favor (no compromise), Theodore continued to seek help to get to a solution. He was
even prepared to send the U.S. army into the mines and seize power to get the coal mines started
again. But alas, the operators decided to compromise and make what would become the Anthracite
Coal Commission, that would oversee the

Comparing Satire In Saturday Night Live And The Late Show
Political Satire: Both Amusing and Informative
Political satire is the use of humor, sarcasm, or ridicule to criticize politician s vices. Most satire today
is political. Comedians have become our truth tellers. When it comes to politics, news and satire go
together like peanut butter and jelly. Shows including: NBC s Saturday Night Live and CBS s The
Late Show with Stephen Colbert showcase political satire the best of them all. The main questions are:
does satire relay new well and does satire make for a reliable news source?
Stephen Colbert is known to be the king of satire. His late night show is popular for his use of satire to
convey the news. He is so good at his satire that people on all sides of the political debate find him
funny. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Humor is a big part of my life, and I find what is life without a good laugh. I have watched both
Saturday Night Live and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. I find them both very funny and I did
learn some things from watching them. I find normal news to be lacking enjoyment. They are frankly
boring.
Satire requires a lot of interpretation. No one quite has the same opinions on what is trying to be
conveyed by such satire. Some people think satire is rude and crosses the line. For others, it is easier
to comprehend more serious political topics when humor is involved. Satire can be helpful to some in
the transmission of information. I agree completely with this. Humor helps grab the attention of
viewers and make the experience more enjoyable. I find it easier to watch the SNL skits mocking the
debate over the real deal. Yes, they may be making fun of people, but I unapologetically find that
funny. In my opinion there is a reason these people are victims of satire.
Whether it is political or just plain old satire, comicality adds a lot to new segments. There is not one
person who doesn t enjoy a good laugh. Satire allows people to both receive the news and laugh at the
same time. It is like the best of both worlds. Comedians may have become our truth tellers, but I m not
complaining. I like the way satire and news mesh

The Seminole Indian Tribe
The Seminole Indian Tribe of Florida is a renowned group in South Florida area. Besides being the
only Federal recognized tribe that has not signed a peace treaty, the Seminoles are known for things as
Chickee Architecture, Billie Swamp Safari, and the Infamous Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.
All these groundbreaking and recognized accomplishments were only cable because of the hard work
and dedication from the different tribes that make up the Seminole Nation. That being said, the
Seminoles success was also due to opening of smoke shops and high risk gaming in the 1970
s(Cattelino 5). However, with the wealth that has come, it also brings along the Fungibility of money.
This Fungibility is what enabled growth with the Seminole people. ... Show more content on

With money, one can choose their own fate to an extent, and even help shape the path for others
around them. I believe that the Seminole Indian tribe is a perfect example of this. Due to their large
success with gaming, they have become a finically independent group that can now better themselves
because of money. Things such as education, health, and preservation of cultural are now enabled due
to the gain of funds from the casinos, but these positives do come with a price. Thanks to financial
freedom, Seminole artist have pursued expanding their knowledge of skills and crafts. This new want
for cultural expansion can be seen as a positive since people can now focus on past crafts and
practices. Unfortunately, due to gaming revenue, people worked on crafts because they no longer have
to work, while others stopped crafts for the same reason. They no longer need to make money, so they
no longer saw a need in making them. This shows that economic freedom was as much as a curse as it
was a blessing. Freedom allows one to choose their own path. The Seminole tribe was able to find
freedom through gaming revenue, and it has had many positives in their tribe. However, freedom can
also make people forgetful of passion and hard work. Not to say that all Native Americans who have
benefitted from tribal funding from things such a gaming revenues are lazy. I believe that the majority
will make the best choice at the end of the day. Hopefully the money earn through gaming does not
lead to a downfall in such a respected

Rain By George Orwell Use Of Language
In any written text, a writer s discerning selection of word choice, vocabulary, punctuation and
imaginative techniques sets some common grounds for the reader to base his understanding upon. A
writer s linguistic techniques impart a significant measure of the text s content, as it helps him
establish the atmosphere, setting and tone. Furthermore, a writer s linguistic choices reveal much
about his identity and background, which helps the reader perceive the gist of the text. Meanwhile, a
picture is worth a thousand words. A visual text can also successfully engage the viewer into the
ambience of the text. In Text A, George Orwell employs language as a useful mechanism for
communication. George Orwell uses a lot of descriptive language, which adds to the substance of the
text and gives a more detailed account on the events of the story. For instance, this is displayed when
the writer says, In January there came a bitterly hard weather . (Line 1) In addition, the writer also
makes extensive use of similes, which makes the text a more compelling one and allows the writer to
seize the attention of the reader. As a case in point, Orwell states, The earth ... Show more content on

making him believe that he wants to help him in order to gain his trust, while he is in fact planning to

image, the large man is sitting on the rest of the young boys. Through this depiction, we can deduce
that the creator of this image is trying to deliver the concept of dictatorship, as the man is imposing his
rules, exercising and exploiting his power over the rest of the men. This is delivered in both images

According to Daniel L. Swain of the American meteorological society and Stanford University, says
that the 2013 and 2014 drought in California was an exceptional climate event in the western coast of
the United States( Swain) The drought that has impacted the state of California has been a national
phenomena for a few years now and how it affects the climate and economic aspects of the United

California.. The impact of the agricultural industry in the United States has been greatly impacted by
the effects of the drought in southern California. The Californian drought of the 21st century effects
what the rest of the country receives in terms of produce and crops from California. Therefore the
American people that live other places in the U.S. should have more concern for the drought of

Mother Daughter Relationships In The Bonesetter s Daughter
What should a person look for when searching for their identity? A crucial component of a person s
identity is shaped by their relationships with others, particularly their mother. In Amy Tan s The
Bonesetter s Daughter, there are two main mother daughter relationships that play an integral role in
the novel. The novel consists of three generations of women, and their relationships with one another
significantly impact who all three become. LuLing s relationship with her mother, Precious Auntie,
affects the way she acts towards her daughter, Ruth. Once Ruth discovers the hidden history of her
mother, LuLing, she is able to uncover the mother daughter relationships between her and LuLing as
well as LuLing and Precious Auntie. Amy Tan portrays the complicated nature of broken, yet loving

Methods Of Using Data Relationships And Computer Models
Analytics is the process of using data relationships and computer models to drive business value,
improve decision making and understand human relationships. If the Information Age began in the
1990s with the rise of digital technology, then we ve now officially entered the Age of Big Data,
wherein companies like Google, Facebook, IBM, Teradata, Oracle, and SAS have the capacity to
gather a lifetime s worth of data about customers and their behavior. But that data is just an
incomprehensible pile of numbers until a skilled analyst turns those numbers into meaningful
information, useful for making intelligent business decisions. Today, companies are searching for
experts in data analytics who have high formed business and technology backgrounds, and who
understand the importance of the latest data and Information Age trends. This requires more than
simple data analysis. Prescriptive analytics focuses on trends using simulation and optimization, while
predictive analytics uses statistical tools to predict the future, and descriptive analytics is concerned
with enabling smart decisions based on data. Data miners and data analytics experts who are versatile
in all three areas of analytics can help corporate executives translate their data into intelligent
information, which provides companies a competitive advantage and increases their bottom lines.
Analytics have made their presence felt in every industry, but they have a major role to play in the
sports industry and many teams

Martha Graham And Humphrey
Martha Graham and Doris Humphrey are known as the founders, or the pioneers of modern dance.
They were of the first to begin the modern dance era, after Isadora Duncan. Graham and Humphrey
reshaped the way people looked at dance giving it new meaning. During the 1900 s they defined
modern dance and gave it clear recognizable movements that distinguish it from many other dances
created in the past.
Martha Graham s technique of modern dance consists of very powerful, and emotional movements.
They way she moved her body was very off putting or ugly to those who hadn t seen this type of
dance. She looks rigid and sharp when she moves rather than flowing and elegant like people were use
to seeing in ballet. It was a revolution in motion equal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She was very interested in the more natural flowing movements and studied dance in simpler versions.
She wanted to remove the dramatic idea in order to focus on the basic principles. One of her dances,
Water Study is actually performed with no music. The dancers use their breath and natural wave like
movements to create the rhythm of the dance. Humphrey generated studies that focused merely on
oppositional and succession movement, rhythm, and the dynamics of falling (Stodelle 1978). She
created the fall and recovery technique, which is similar to Graham s contraction and release
technique. The main elements of her fall and recovery technique are balance and imbalance (Stodelle
1978). In Humphrey s technique she focuses on the balance, the breath, and the spacial orientation.
When the dancer becomes very off balance they spring into a new risky direction.
Doris Humphrey and Martha Graham were not close friends, and their views on dance vary. Martha s
view being more impulsive, rigid, and dramatic while Doris s is more flowing and natural. However
there techniques of fall and recovery, and contraction and release are very similar. They both taught at
Denishawn, and performed in some of the concerts at Denishawn (Foulkes, 42). Graham was a dancer
at heart, Humphrey, a choreographer. Although vastly different these two women played a major role

Discuss the problems and opportunities facing the global advertiser
The prevailing arena in business this millennium has powerful forces, which are transforming markets
and spectacularly changing ways of doing business. There has been increased movement of people,
goods and organisations across borders, which have resulted in the emergence of global market
segments and the growth of globally integrated markets. In order to discuss the problems and
opportunities facing the global advertiser in today s environment we must understand firstly, what
global advertising involves.

A fundamental strategic decision has to be made immediately as to whether to employ a uniform
marketing mix as part of a global strategy standardise or whether to adjust the marketing mix to take
account of the unique characteristics of each local market adapt . Standardisation involves the offering
of identical product line at identical prices through identical distribution systems, supported by
identical promotional programmes in several different countries.
The arguments however for standardisation suggest that if you go through the process of adapting the
product to local markets it does little but add to the overall cost of producing the product and weakens
the brand on the global scale. In today s global world, where consumers travel more, watch satellite
television, communicate and shop internationally over the Internet, the world now is becoming a lot
smaller. Because of this there is no need to adapt products to local markets. Brands such as Coca Cola,
MTV, Nike, Levis are all successful global brands where they have a standardised approach to their
marketing mix, all these products are targeted at similar groups globally. The main reasons to
encourage product standardisation involve Economies of Scale within Production;
Marketing/communications, Research amp; Development and Stock Holding. Easier management and
control i.e. familiarity, Similarity of markets, Cultural insensitivity where made in image is important

According to Donovan, S and Shinseki, E.K. of the American Journal of Public Health, the suggestion
to combat this issue is to reenforce intervention strategies of certain government organizations that
work and to funnel federal resources to those strategies (Donovan, 2013). One of the main factors for
why people are homeless is due to the mental and physical illness and substance abuse. Effective
intervention strategies must be achieved in order to combat homelessness and to ensure veterans are
receiving aid they deserve. An example of improving intervention would be to increase investment in
effective, evidence based programs utilizing such as the Housing First model created by the VA which
helps assist veterans with access to health care, employment and other supportive services that

Why People Should Participate In Track And Field
Physical activity partakes an importance in our lives, and a simple way to get active is to join a sport.
Many people do not consider themselves to be athletic, but with a sport like Track and Field one does
not have to be because it can be recreational or competitive. Therefore; people should participate in
Track and Field because it involves a variety of events for different strengths.
Track and Field contains multiple events. The sport divides into four main skills which include
sprinting, pacing , jumping, and throwing. This gives anyone the opportunity to figure out what events
fit their strengths. People who can sprint, for example, could do the 100m dash (a quarter of the track),
200m (half a lap), or 400m run (one lap). The long jump, triple jump, pole vault or high jump are
events for people who can jump well. The long jump and triple jump involve running a certain
distance and then jumping at a certain point into a sand pit, however, the triple jump challenges the
individual with a hop , skip, and then jump into the pit . High jump requires upper body strength to
hoist oneself over the bar to achieve a certain height. Pole vault compares to high jump, but a pole
used to reach heights above 10ft. If a certain individual enjoys ... Show more content on

Relays are created for many events to give each team a chance to put their best runners or throwers
together to compete. For a running event, a baton gets passed between each player after their
respective distance finishes. Field events do their individual throws or jumps and then add the
distances together to see who reached the highest

Yurano s Chushingura Loyalty In The Japanese Culture
Shown in the book Chushingura loyalty is very important in the Japanese culture. They ve always
lived by absolute loyalty and self sacrifice for their families and their heir. The two characters I think
that represent the best and worst qualities of the Japanese Bushido and Japanese spirit are Oboshi
Yuranosuke and Honzo. Yuranosuke presents the best qualities while Honzo present more so of the
worst qualities.
Yuranosuke throughout the book shows absolute loyalty. He is the chief retainer of Lord Enya, he
served throughout as a mediator in the story. In Act four, when Hangan was ordered by the shogun to
commit suicide for drawing his sword on a fellow ronin. When Yuranosuke shows up he is too late,
when he enters Hangan stabs himself with his sword. Before he dies, Hangan tells Yuranosuke he
wants vengeance upon Moronao. After Hangan death Yuranosuke then forms an alliance of retainers
who all agree to swear vengeance upon Moronao. This act of vengeance presented Yuranosuke s
loyalty to Hangan and what classifies him as a perfect model for the Bushido code. The death he
eventually offers Moronao is perhaps not even a death of dishonor. Yuranosuke offers Moronao the
honor of committing sepukku, but Moronao does not accept it. He attempt to ... Show more content on

  • 2. The Importance Of School Culture As mentioned by Peterson, K. D., Deal, T. E. (2009) when it comes to school culture there are many hidden or not visible aspects that need to be considered. For example, we need to take in consideration things that will promote or affect commitment, productivity as well as motivation. As Peterson, K. D., Deal, T. E. (1999) mentioned, School culture influences what people pay attention to (focus), how they identify with the school (commitment), how hard they work (motivation), and the degree to which they achieve their goals (productivity)... For instance something things that we take for granted such as: manners, way we celebrate others, vision mission, ways we even greet others and even the tone of voice we use might set the wrong culture. Even though, we are all trying to catch up, we need to take our time to consider what is important and or might affect our school community. Simple things such as greeting others, parents, students and staff member need to be our number one priority, having time to listen to their problems, concerns as well as their ideas will also help us create a positive culture. We need to listen to those unsaid words, hidden messages, we need to focus on what it is important, setting up the best learning/teaching/working opportunities for all community members. As school leaders we need to understand, that our voice tone, facial gestures, comments as well as preoccupation for getting better professional development opportunities, parental involment even the way we motivate others will become the mirror image we see in others. Our school is doing many things to foster our vision and mission which is All students are getting the best learning opportunities... As part of this, the school is running before and after school extended learning programs in which some students, those whose reading performance is under grade level, will be invited and motivate to assist. Teachers are having conversations with parents to help them understand the importance of this initiative. Posters, flyers as well as information had been sent home. Another way that our school is trying to promote our vision and mission is through the Literacy Family Night program that is starting on Dec 7, 2017. This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Latin American Spanish And Peninsular Spanish The difference between Latin American Spanish (LAS) and Peninsular Spanish (PS) is something that is increasingly prominent in the global Hispanic society. These differences lie in the grammatical, lexical and phonological features of the two variations of both the variant and the original form of the language. Latin American Spanish, spoken in countries such as Mexico, Panama, Chile and Honduras all adopted the Spanish language in the late 15th century and have since made Latin American Spanish one of the most widely spoken variations of the Spanish language in the world. The difference of the phonological features between Latin American Spanish and Peninsular Spanish is a prime example, as the sounds of the vowels can differ depending on the form of the language that is being spoken. Throughout the course of this investigation, the main distinctions between the two forms of the language will be discussed in further detail, centring on the grammatical, lexical and phonological features. It is also worth noting that in Spain there are four different co official languages within Spain itself, these signifying the four different regions; Basque, Catalan, Galician and Basque . Therefore, it is clear that even within Spain there is a variance in the form of the language. Latin American Spanish and Peninsular Spanish are quite different, especially when we look closer at some of the key features of the language s grammatical, lexical and phonological properties. • 4. The Importance Of Civilization In Iowa City Civilizations are culturally created environments in which we follow rules, standards, and ethical behaviors. Iowa City offers multiple signs of civilization, including public vs. private land, religious vs. secular, and the presence of central control. Through these five characteristics we can identify and interpret what the environment is explaining to us. My area of choice is northern Iowa City, which has an environment that tells me it is a civilization through rhetorical elements provided in the use of space and materials that create it. In Northern Iowa City public space is common. Happy Hollow Park offers an open landscape with sidewalks and free access. The pathways invite civilians in and show them where they may go, but do not impose any rules on where they must go. The basketball court and baseball field have no walls or barricades blocking entry, allowing us to know they are available for whoever pleases. An outdoor pavilion could be used for family gatherings and parties at no cost. A free parking lot with good lighting tells civilians that there is nothing restricting their access to the space. This space is known as public due it s ease of entry and the way the park invites civilians in with pathways and block free attractions. Therefore, Happy Hollow Park represents public space as an area that invites every civilian to explore and go as they please. Private space is popular in Iowa City due to the amount of residential housing. The housing in Iowa City ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Pros And Cons Of Freedom Of Speech Freedom of speech has central place in democratic societies. In the United States the First Amendment protects free speech as essential right of its citizens. Other democracies, such as those in western Europe also have free speech traditions, though none as extensive as the United States . But why should speech be free? Speech should be free because it provides for a good government, promotes the realization of truth, allows diversity to thrive, and is a straightforward legislative approach to speech. Free speech allows the people to hold their government accountable via the free press. A condition of a good government is freedom of information, and what has been called the right to know (Garton Ash 78), which is the responsibility of a free press to provide to the people, especially when the government is not being transparent on its own. Without a press that is free to report on public officials and the government s activity, both are able to go unchecked, at the expense of the people they are supposed to serve. In addition to this, freedom to expose public figures activities must be protected from frivolous accusations of libel because the ability to have a journalist accused of libel for revealing the truth would [threaten] the informing purpose of the First Amendment (Lewis 51). The United States embraced this idea when the Supreme Court case New York Times v. Sullivan (1964) decision the court changed the standards that constitute libel to the statement must be false, as well as published both knowingly and recklessly. This shifted the burden of proof from the accused to the accuser. Not only does the press need to be free to report on the activity of the government, but the people must be free to express their wants and needs to their government. A fair and legitimate democracy requires that all people have a vote as well as an opportunity to have their views heard. Garton Ash uses the words of Ronald Dworkin to explain this, a majority decision is not fair unless everyone has had the opportunity to express his or her attitudes or opinions or fears or tastes or presuppositions or prejudices or ideals (Garton Ash 77). Free speech allows for political views to be expressed, so that the desires ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Arguments Against Adoption Taylor Barton English III Ms. Light 15 February 2017 To adopt and to be adopted ¨The bond that links your true family is not one of blood, but of respect and joy in each other s life.¨ Take a moment a think to yourself what does adoption really mean to you. (Bach) When you ask most people about adoption they usually think of all the stereotypical misconception like adoption is to challenging for me most of those kids have too many medical or mental problems for me, or that costs way too much. That is the response most people give when they are asked, but there are some people out there that cannot have children so they have adoption to fall back on. People often think of how awful it is for parents to put their kids up for adoption, but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The problem and we need to deal with it, but we have to have perspective and forming a family can take time. Every way of forming a family can be painful and have its difficulties. In adoption, we don t have miscarriage, we have other issues, but we have to have some perspective about our own lives and our own families. (Pertman). All though adoption is painless because you don t have to go through labor it still could cause you some pain in the process if you get a child with a disability or just a child who is more challenging. Children who are older tend to be more challenging this is often a big misconception. When most people think of a older child in foster care or the adoption agencies they usually think of a kid who is to troubled so nobody wanted them, but when a older kid is in the system that usually means that they have no one to take care of them. This leads to them trying to act out not because they are too difficult but because they want someone to care for them or about them. These kids just need someone who can care for them because most of the time those kids have never had anyone to care for them. People often think that the adoption process often discriminates against people on the basis of age, marital status and sexual ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Slaves In The Middle Passage In the Middle Passage (during which the slaves were transported to America) the slaves were treated as anything but equal. There were a few ways to initially become a slave, including being an indentured servant, or even being forcibly taken from your country. Once on the Guineaman the slaves had different privileges, the men were shackled two by two to each other and the women and children were free to wander about the ship during the day. Often times the women were considered fair game for the sailors. The living conditions were subpar and the slaves were forced to clean the living and sleeping quarters. • 8. Importance Of Communication Between Parents And Parents The significance of communication between educators and parents has been studied and stressed for many years because of its impact on academic achievement and success of students. Parental involvement can have a remarkable effect on the academic achievement of students. Epstein (2008) found that when parents are involved with their child s education that more students earn higher grades in English and math, improve their reading and writing skills, complete more course credits, set higher aspirations, have better attendance, come to class more prepared to learn, and have fewer behavior problems... (pg. 10). A huge problem is that many parents face today are work schedule with two parents working families or single parent family not being able to connect with the school not being able to find the time due to work schedules. Often times the only when a behavior or an academic crisis happen teachers reach out to parents. Likewise when a parent experience a problem academically or socially with their child will a parents reach out to talk to a teacher. Technology is making communication much easier between parents and teachers. The most common of the communication between teachers and parents is based off of grades, attendance and behaviorally. Four times a year teachers are in communication with parents due to grades and sometimes in between the grade periods if a child is struggling. Some school districts use printed report copies and send them home with students ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Epidemiology Is Not For Diseases Among Human Populations Background Epidemiology is the study of how often diseases spread through a population. This information can be used to help reduce the damage caused in future epidemics and also help to understand the best way to treat patients of a current epidemic. The word epidemiology comes from Greek, literally translating to the study of what is upon the people . However nowadays epidemiology is not limited to diseases among human populations, epidemiology can now be the study of disease in any defined population. Mathematical models of epidemics were not used until the early 20th century. When there were early pioneers such as William Hamer and Ronald Ross who successfully created models that shared similar properties to the disease. History Hippocrates The timeline of epidemiology starts in Greece with a man named Hippocrates, though now he is often referred to as The father of medicine . Hippocrates was the first person to observe the link between disease and the environment of the infected person, and he then began to think about whether the link might be causal. Prior to this ground breaking idea people had simply attributed disease to a supernatural phenomenon and had not considered that there may be a rational explanation for the spread of disease through the population. Hippocrates decided to investigate the environmental factors involved with disease after he had noticed that different diseases occurred in different locations (for example: Malaria only seeming to occur in ... It certainly couldn t have been made for kids, due to the vulgar language from Chucky, so unless you are sneaking a peek at the film or if you are like me and were allowed to watch them at a young age, the film must be for adults. Right? I don t know, cause doesn t you think most people wouldn t have given the film a chance when they heard the plot? A story about a child s doll coming to life and killing people? Most people would roll their eyes and scoff at the idea of seeing it. However, that s today and not 1988 when the film came out. • 11. Oresteia Analysis Oresteia alludes the idea that the truth does not always bring delight to people and sometimes, living without being aware of it helps people to live more lively and pleasantly. Orestes gains tremendous suffering in exchange for knowing everything without being ready to accept the truth. People should prepar Oresteia is a script whose story goes on by recalling Orestes lost memories. The main idea which is prevalent throughout this story is about finding the truth hidden in the acts of revenge, lies, and fates which are intricately intertwined. However, as the truth does not always give us hope and pleasant, in this story, the characters are suffered by the truth and the way to find it. How Did Napoleon Bonaparte Influence Western Civilization Napoleon Bonaparte was born on August 15th, 1769 in Ajaccio, mediterranean island of Corsica, his family was not wealthy and considered to be on the low side of Corsican nobility. He learned to speak French and was able to graduate from Ecole military academy in France. He was second lieutenant in the French Army. Although many would say he twisted and bent Europe during his reign in 1799 1815, Napoleon l had the greatest impact on Western Civilizations as well as universal because of his creation of the Napoleonic Code, educational improvements, as well as his military refinement. As I mentioned, Napoleon l created the Napoleonic Code in the 19th century. Initially it was a code for the people to live in peace and have order.¨Under the code all male citizens are equal: primogeniture, hereditary nobility, and class privileges are extinguished; civilian institutions are emancipated from ecclesiastical control; freedom of person, freedom of contract, and inviolability of private property are fundamental principles¨(Britannica.com). • 16. Kyoto Protocol And The Protocol As a basic description the Kyoto Protocol is a document, which legally binds all member countries that are classified as developed to meet specific emission reduction targets. The protocol brings with it several Commitment periods , which as the name suggests are periods of time by which member states are bound to the protocol. The initial commitment period began in 2008 and ceased in 2012. The next began in 2013 and will end in 2020. Currently there are 192 member states to the protocol. It has been determined that developed countries are primarily responsible for the current elevated levels of Greenhouse gases (GHG). The Kyoto Protocol puts heavier goals on the developed countries based on the idea of differentiated but common responsibilities. The Protocol dictates that there are six primary Greenhouse gases identified as contributing the most harm to the natural environment, these being: Methane, Carbon Dioxide, Nitrous Oxide, Hydro fluorocarbons, Per fluorocarbons and Sulfur Hexafluoride (U.S. EPA, N.D.) Each nation has their own individual targets. The average target was a cut of roughly 5%, in comparison to the levels in the atmosphere in 1990 and 2012 (The Guardian, 2012). Some countries have a different approach to the protocol than others. An example of this is the United States, which is yet to ratify the protocol and also happens to be the second largest total emitter (second to China) and largest emitter per capita of greenhouse gases in the world (M. ... Future Air Transportation System Essay 2.2 FUTURE AIR NAVIGATION SYSTEMS (FANS) : 2.2.1 Introduction to FANS Future Air Navigation Systems (FANS) is a concept that was developed by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in partnership with Boeing, Airbus, Honeywell and others in the air transport industry to allow more aircraft to safely and efficiently utilize a given volume of airspace. Today FANS is used primarily in the oceanic regions taking advantage of both satellite communication and satellite navigation to effectively create a virtual RADAR environment for safe passage of aircraft. FANS play a key role in supporting many of the evolving CNS/ATM (Communication Navigation Surveillance/ Air Traffic Management) strategies. Today, FANS 1 is the standard used on Boeing aircraft and Airbus standard for FANS is known as FANS A. Both standards are considered first generation FANS architecture.
