Case Study Of Lotte Lacto King
Introduction to the Study
The purpose of this study is to understand the factors that led to the declining of a brand which was
once doing very good. The study also aims to measure the brand equity of the chosen brand and then
to do a segmentation and positioning analysis of the brand. Finally, the study aims to recommend an
STP strategy for the brand. The brand that I have chosen for the study is Lotte Lacto King.
To achieve the purpose, a Focus Group Discussion was conducted which helped in identifying various
variables. Using these variables, a questionnaire was developed to understand the perception of the
consumers about the brand. A diverse group of approximately 100 consumers was chosen to get the
response. The next step involved running a factor analysis on the data collected and arriving at core
factors. The Brand Equity was measured next and a STP strategy is recommended.
The Brand under consideration, reasons for choosing the Brand
The brand chosen to conduct the study is Lotto Lacto King. The parent company for the product is
Lotte Corporation India. The tagline for the product is So tasty, you just can t stop eating it . It is pure

This can be attributed to severe competition and the product s lack of innovation and advertisements.
All the competitors came out with various variants of their product and were engaged in high
advertising but Lacto King had just one variant and no advertisements were made. The distribution
and reach is not extensive as compared to its competitors. The company banked on its brand name to
attract sales but slowly this strategy started to fail and its sales started to drop. Currently, the product
has lost visibility from many stores and is not available

USING BASEBALL HATS TO BOOST EMPLOYEE MOTIVATION AND JOB PERFORMANCE
Using customized, colored baseball hats to boost employee performance
It s been some time since the baseball hat became a symbol of recognition and high status. Wearing a
baseball hat, especially one with the right color and embroidery design makes people feel important,
appreciated, and unique.
Setting up a simple system for motivating employees to higher levels of performance and achievement
doesn t have to cost the company a fortune. The idea is to gamify productivity goals in a way that
increases employee engagement and motivation.
The idea is pretty simple:
Measure the performance of your employees based on four levels of achievement, using monthly

Along with the Green Hat the employee receives a Congratulations for your performance post on his
door bearing the manager s signature. Respectively, a congratulations email is sent and is
accompanied with a certificate and a web link not just to order her trophy baseball hat. He or she is
also given the opportunity to enter the website and customize the design of the baseball hat, the way
she desires by choosing her own embroidery design or by uploading her own stamp design.
4. A Blue Baseball Hat The 3rd Level of Performance
After reaching the third level of achievement in job productivity scale (or sales performance), the
employee is raised to the Blue Baseball Hat status. The manager personally invites the employee at his
office and congratulates him or her for the success.
Likewise with the previous level, a congratulations email is also sent by the manager. The email is

The Effects Of Socioeconomics On Children s Children
Imagine a boy that has been teased mercilessly by his peers throughout his schooling because of his
clothes and his free and reduced lunch status. He is constantly under pressure from peers to have the
newest and niftiest gadgets; nevertheless, his mother cannot afford to provide food and permanent
housing, much less, these extra luxuries. Therefore, he has to comprise with what his mother can
afford. She tries to provide for her children and wants to offer them the world. Nonetheless, due to her
economic situation, she cannot provide her for children adequately; they are forced to ask for aid from
the government, close family, and friends. This situation brings light to the turmoil that
socioeconomics brings upon children and that they need to endure to survive in this society. When it
comes to socioeconomics, children are the utmost affected. Socioeconomics has long term effects,
prevalently distresses children in school and in development. Through my friend s experience that he
has shared with me, it has allowed me to notice the harrowing effects that socioeconomics has on
children. First, one may ask exactly what is socioeconomic status and other terms that surround this
issue? Socioeconomic status can be defined as an overall ranking of a person s position in society
based on income, education, and occupation (Benokraitis, 2014, p. 142). Socioeconomic status can
further be simplified in saying it is a classification system that is forced upon all people within a

The Brady Act Essay
The Brady Act
The Brady Law was passed in February of 1994 in the name of James Brady, who was President
Reagan s press secretary who was severely wounded by a bullet in the assassination attempt of Reagan
in 1981. Since the enactment of the Brady Law, violent crimes committed with firearms have greatly
reduced. In fact, from 1985 all the way up through 1993 the use of guns in crime was at an all time
high. It was until the Brady Act was passed that the use of firearms in crimes decreased. Today the
Brady Act continues to keep firearms out of the hands of criminals. The Brady Handgun Violence Act

licensees however, no matter what state that the individual is in must be enrolled with the FBI before

themselves into a lot of trouble if they do not act accordingly with the Brady Act. If they were to
provide a firearm to a prohibited person or a felon, they could receive up to ten years in prison. For
any AIL violations under the Brady Act, instant check phase, licensees can receive up to one year in

These background checks are not authorized by NICS, they are required by some states and some
storeowners, that just prefer to be safe and use the checks, again waiting periods and finger printing

An Reflection Based On The Ideal Of Worship As Empowerment
Worship in the African American Expression _ Worship as Empowerment
This reflection based on the ideal of Worship as Empowerment. We shall explore the contemporary
side of African American Christian adoration. Which, begins with the religious heritage the African
slaves transported with them on their journey to the New World. Next, let us investigate the religious
studies of African American worship, with a focus on its characteristics, empowerment, and elements.
Heritage of African American Religious
The Africans brought immeasurable religious beliefs and practices to America. Their beliefs included
a superior, compassionate God, which generated the universe and was its definitive Provider. The
Devine intervention of religious philosophies and practices began for the African prior to their capture
and survival, of the sea journey, embarking of slave ships from West Africa to the West Indies, and the
consequences of slavery. The Africans incline to view existence holistically; the nonspiritual and the
holy are mutually undivided realities that exist in aggressive tension but interconnected occurrences.
Slaves embraced this understanding of life, resulting in worship with no constraint to place nor time.
Some scholars such as E. Franklin Frazier, contends that slavery in the United States expunged all the
religious traditions of the slaves. Conversely, others, including Melville Herskovits, which challenges
residuals, existences, and Africanisms, are still

The other fall out of long distance, capital intensive projects is that investment wise these are such

reading of John Keat s On the Sea Born in Moorgate, London, 1795, John Keats proved to be a
promising poet during the short course of his life he is hailed as one of the greatest poets of the
Romantic period, one of his greatest literary works include To Autumn and The eve of St Agnes. The
Romantic Movement was a reaction to the emphasis on society and logic present in the enlightenment
era the period focused extensively on individuality, human emotion and the relationship between man
and nature (Abram, 283). On the Sea portrays the sea as an embodiment of nature which provides
relief and freedom to man and suggests that humanity refrain from rejecting nature. This essay aims to
illustrate the relationship between nature and man and re iterate the mightiness and the spiritual effect
of the sea both as a divine and a liberating force for humankind. On the Sea presents the transcendence

and the negative connotation is directed towards the intended hearer. The imagery changes from that
of eternal whisperings , gentle temper to that of disturbed hearts, uproar rude (11) and cloying melody
(12). The negative relation to man threads itself throughout the poem. In the first quatrain the shores
are desolate because man has rejected and shifted away from nature. In the sestet the same imagery is
present. Perhaps he does this to illustrate that mankind holds this negative notion and perception of the
sea, they view the sea as an object that causes uproar rude or disturbs hearts and by disclosing a
different view of the sea one that is spiritual and gentle, the poet hopes that humanity would attach

Shinto And Daoism Similarities
East Asian culture brought to us three distinct and enlightening religions, Daoism, Confucianism, and
Shinto. These religions are all very different and unique they have very unique ties that bind. Daoism
and Confucianism were both brought into fruition during the Shang dynasty around 1600 to 1046 BCE
in China (1) while Shinto is an ancient religion to which we do not have a defined date of conception.
The most forward similarities Daoism, Confucianism, and Shinto share are State Cult, and ancestor
worship (although Shinto practices ancestor veneration (2)). Now let s take a more in depth look at
these unique and wonderful East Asian religions!
First Daoism! Daoism is a Chinese based religion that was formed during the Shang dynasty
somewhere in the years of 1600 1046 BCE. Daoism is the way of nature and morality (3). Daoism has
an outward appearance of harmony with nature, peace and being carefree but this simple life religion
is deeply rooted in a tradition of great mental and physical disciple. (3) Daoism is mystically religious
and it has been said that we cannot describe the Dao, we can live in harmony with it...Humans model
themselves on earth, Earth on heaven, Heaven on the way, And the way on that which is naturally so.
(4) One of the unique features of Daoism is the paradox of wu wei or actionless action, spontaneous,
creative activity proceeding from Dao, action without ego assertion, letting the Dao take its course, (5)
wu wei effectively encompasses a life

Information Systems And Database Technology
Health information systems and database technology continue to advance and grow and allow users to
pull data and interconnect like ever before. The goal for this discussion is to better familiarize you
with fundamental concepts in relation to database systems and relevant health information standards.
We will also be comparing three of the top ten most purchased EHR systems for comparison, allowing
you to understand the functionality of each system, as well as, the barriers to implementation. A
database is a collection of information organized so that a computer program can quickly select
desired pieces of data. A database can be thought of as an electronic filing system. An example would
be how a large hospital uses and stores medical records. Most databases are organized by fields,
records, and files. Databases can be quite simple counting only a single table which is composed of a
record, which are made up of fields or can be large and contain many records and fields (Beaumont
2000). Databases can be paper based but most are computer based. Databases in computers are usually
handled by software called DataBase Management Systems (DBMS) (Beaumont 2000). These are a
collection of programs that enables you to organize, enter, and select data in a database. Some
examples are Oracle, Access and Paradox. Some components of DBMS include table and structured
data, meta data, action/privileges, queries and reports, and programming language. A table is

2. Language The Tower of Babel is symbolic of the fundamental differences between humans and
gods. Humans are not meant to be completely self sufficient as God is, they should look upon God for
guidance in their life. This message was ignored in the construction of the tower in which the two
main motivations were to gain fame and to build a city to preserve unity (Interpreter s Concise
Commentary, 17). Humans should never have the arrogance to try to become gods on earth through
fame. Further, one should only preserve unity if that is God s plan.
Even this looming, powerful structure pales in comparison to the greatness that God can accomplish,
i.e. Humans can never reach the awesomeness and power of God.

4. Intended Audience The intended audience for this pericope is clearly Jews during the Babylonian
exile of 587 B.C. 538 B.C. This is seen in the setting of the story, the apocalyptic genre of the excerpt,
and the detailed explanation of the building of the tower. This story is set in the land of Shinar
(Genesis 11:2). Shinar is described as meaning Babylonia, the ancient state resting in the Tigris
Euphrates river basin. Further, within the state of Babylonia, was the northern city of Babylon. The
setting of Babylon for this ancient tradition indicates a 6th century, exiled Jewish audience as it
establishes a basis for an apocalyptic message about their exile. The detailed description of the brick
making process and bitumen (Genesis 11:3) also indicates a Jewish audience. A Jewish audience
would have been familiar with sun dried bricks, with no archeological evidence of kiln fired bricks at
this time in Palestine (Walton, 163). Mesopotamia however used expensive bitumen almost
exclusively with kiln fired bricks (Walton, 163). Further these expensive building materials would
have only been used for places, temples and other official buildings within a city (Walton, 163). The
authors need to describe this practice indicates an audience new to this land and practice. Further, it s
important to note that the author didn t feel the need to describe the actual

Norwegian Black Metal
Norwegian Black Metal Music has a lot of ability to affect human emotions in special ways among the
arts. Music can connect people to one another, and it can also connect people to whatever they hold
sacred. Geertz wanted to know how religion function in a society. To him, religion consists of symbols
that had meanings for ideas, values and lifestyles of a society. Black metal is one of those. In this, I
will be discussing how Satanism came into a music genre call black metal that was started in Norway
and how it is a movement and not a controversy like most people think. Norwegian Black Metal is a
sub genre of heavy metal, which was started in the 1980s in England. It received its name from a band
called Venom when they released their second album called Black Metal and its lyrics focused on anti
Christian and Satanic themes. Black metal is a synonym for Satanic metal because they express harsh
anti Christian and other anti religion views. They then influenced a lot of other bands to take after
what they were doing. They influenced one of the major bands called Hellhammer. Everyone said they
made raw and vicious music with Satanic lyrics that later influenced the black metal. They influence a
lot of main bands, Mayhem and Darkthrone. Some also believe that Euronymous goes their name
from Hellhammer s track Eurynomos. Ever hear of Euronymous, Count Grishnackh or Hellhammer?
Maybe not? What about Mayhem, Darkthrone or Burzum? Is there a light then? Or maybe eight

The Rise Of Terrorist Groups During The Middle East
Jason Wang
Mrs. Ma

The Rise of Terrorist Groups in the Middle East. The Middle East has been an area of conflict and
religious extremism for the latter half of the twentieth century and it is expected to continue to be a
region of conflict in the future. Why is it that terrorist groups constantly emerge and dominate for a
period of time before steadily declining, only to be replaced by a different, equally or even more
inhumane, splinter group? Saudi Arabian Wahhabism is a strain of fundamentalist Islam that has
invaded and displaced traditionally moderate Islam and generates much of the conflict in the Middle
East today. To combat and destroy future extremism and solve the problem permanently, the world and
its inhabitants must deracinate this menace from its roots. Aside from religious fundamentalism, a
large portion of the problem lies in the modern history of the Middle East. When the Ottoman Empire
collapsed in 1920, combined British and French politicians, scholars, archaeologists, military officers
and colonial administrators arbitrarily divided up the boundaries of the newly created nations in the
Sykes Picot agreement. In effect, they created the first reason for much of the sectarian and ethnic
conflict found in the Middle East. Regardless of intention, the British placed disparate tribes that had
warred for centuries in the same country and divided ethnicities and culturally similar groups into
different countries. Similar to how

A Review Of The Article Review
Foregrounding/Backgrounding Both of these tools refer to the writer actively drawing attention either
toward or away any given concept. Typically, Calgary Herald journalists gave textual prominence
towards voices and ideas that pushed industry protection and dismissed claims made by
environmentalists. Even throughout my initial reading of the data, emphasis was almost always placed
on the economic costs of climate change policies prior to making mention of the inevitable
environmental consequences. This foregrounding of governmental and industry voices and the
backgrounding of environmental voices is clear in the article published titled Critics Challenge

If an explanation was given, it omitted the fact that policies are being put into place to prevent the
calamitous effects of global warming. Coverage on the economic costs of climate change adaptation
strategies heavily outweighed writing on the environmental harms that would arise out of non action.
By way of illustration, an article about oil production reads TransCanada Corp. s Keystone XL
pipeline and Enbridge Inc. s Northern Gateway project heading west, have been bogged down by
environmental concerns [...] and the lack of pipelines is a further drag on investment intentions in the
Canadian oil patch (Hussain 2015, April 11). Hussain s article refrains from explaining why
environmentalists are having concerns. Within the news reporting discourse, one would reasonably
expect objective and detailed coverage but in this instance, the author s choice of words flagrantly
drops the plethora of reasons why environmentalists would be concerned with the actions of big oil.
Another headline reads, There may be hope for new pipelines after all (Thomson 2015, October 15).
While these examples may not appear erroneous on the surface, upon close inspection on the phrasing
level, both bogged down and drag carry negative connotations that frame the protection of the
environment as a barrier

What is the dramatic function of Alfieri s character in A View from the Bridge ?
A View from the Bridge is a play written by Arthur Miller. Miller s inspiration for this play is close to
his heart. He grew up in New York City; his parents were illegal immigrants into the United States
looking for work. Alfieri is a key component, not only is he a character he is also a narrator. He acts as
a chorus to the play and an aid to the audience. Alfieri plays many small roles to combine and create a
depth and understanding to the play such as the connection to the title of the play, how he is utilises

He takes on a dual role of the lawyer and commentator. He alerts Eddie that he won t have a friend in
the world if he keeps pushing the boundaries, he already knows Eddie s tragedy is inevitable and
builds a sense of foreshadowing. Miller has three purposes in this scene for Alfieri: to reveal the
acceptance of Eddie s feelings towards Catherine, to convey how it might affect Beatrice and to be the
voice of reasoning. He bluntly tells Eddie that there is no positive way out. When Eddie implies he
may have feelings for Catherine Alfieri is already aware and implies that this will be his fatal flaw. he
never realises it, but though the years there is too much love for the daughter, there is too much love
for the niece . This explicitly tells Eddie to let the feelings go, Alfieri is conscious about the fact Eddie
does have strong feelings towards Catherine and he is also a perceptive character which Eddie is not,
but Alfieri is alert that this will be Eddie s downfall. During Eddie s confession time he confides his
fear that Rodolpho is homosexual and is pretending to love Catherine as an opportunity to obtain a
green card. Eddie says He s stealing from me! and it s breakin my heart . This really allows the
audience to feel the intensity of the frustration Eddie feels. The scenes have now created a cathartic

How Did William Penn Impact Society
William Penn, an English entrepreneur, had an unforeseen impact on the history of the United States
of America. Penn had been already a champion for democracy, religious freedom, and anti slavery
movements. Through his good relations with both the common people of England and the Indians of
Pennsylvania, Penn was able to secure an entire state for many years to come. So that people could
escape persecution for their religious beliefs, have more freedom, and have a good relationship with
the Indians.
Penn was born on October 14, 1644 at Tower Hill, London, the first of three children of English
Admiral Sir William Penn, and Margaret Jasper. Penn had two wives, Hannah Callowhill Penn (1696
1718), Gulielma Maria Springett (1672 1694), he had twelve children in total. In 1660 1662, Penn

Charles II passed the Conventicle Act, this forbidden gatherings for worship of more than five people,
apart from serving the Anglican Church. If you didn t follow it you would be arrested, trailed, and will

Great Art Will Be A Transparent Reflection Of Society
Great art will always be a transparent reflection of the society in which it was produced. The greatest
artists are able to blend cultures and practices into a single work, creating an aesthetic dialogue that
challenges viewers to look at the piece with multiple perspectives and creates the opportunity for
continuous discovery upon subsequent visits. On the first floor of the new Broad Museum, in
Downtown Los Angeles, there is a piece of art executed by the prolific Japanese artist, Takashi
Murakami, which does just this. In a room that is solely dedicated to the work of Murakami, there is a
piece that seems to stand out more than the rest.

Through the use of his famous superflat technique , Murakami removes all texture and physical depth
from the painting creating a body of work that feels seamlessly absent of human involvement. There is
no physical trace of texture or brush stroke, the paint has the appearance of being printed onto the
canvas. Additionally, through this technique, Murakami is able to compress characteristics of digital
design, high and low arts, pop culture, and historical culture all into one piece. As one begins to

As one walks around the first floor gallery and gazes at this work by Murakami which spans two walls

Christians, Jews, and the Black Plague
Relations between the Christians and Jews of medieval Europe were always influenced by their
unequal social and economic statuses and the religious competition that existed between them. While
the Jews served a purpose in the Christian religion, this purpose meant that the more populous
Christians that had come to dominate Europe only tolerated the Jews. No premise of equality existed,
and the Jews came to depend on relationships with lower level rulers to secure their relative safety.
Rumors persisted that Jews had poisoned wells, and the Jews were often the targets of violence that
the Christians seemed exceedingly willing to deliver. Overall, life was better for the Christians and
worse for the Jews, although this would be of no ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the most documented Christian responses to the plague was the rise of the flagellants. A
spontaneous and unsanctioned movement, the flagellants sought to ward off the plague by physically
punishing themselves for the sins that had caused God to send the Black Death to punish them
(Tuchman, 1978, p. 125). Flagellant processions would typically remain on the move, marching from
town to town, while twice a day beating themselves with whips and other instruments until they drew
blood (Slack, 1988, p. 439). They were also known for their singing of religious songs while marching
and whipping themselves, which ran counter to the official Catholic Church position and caused
church officials no small amount of trouble (Lerner, 1981, p. 535 36). The official reasoning by the
Catholic Church was that the flagellant movement was an unnecessary and wrong reaction to the
Black Death, since there were equal death rates among Christians and Jews. The flagellants were also
part of a Christian movement known as premillennialism (Lerner, 1981, 534). The extensive deaths in
Europe cause many Christians to believe that the second coming of Christ was near, which would
result in the end of the world. This interest in the events that were prophesied to happen just before the
end of the world ran very high during this time. This interest was also a large influence responsible for
the rise of groups like the flagellants (Lerner, 1981, 538). Another common occurrence in

How Did Historians Contribute To The Civil Rights Movement
The Civil Rights Movement is often thought to begin with a tired Rosa Parks defiantly declining to
give up her seat on a bus in Montgomery, Alabama. She paid the price by going to jail. Her refusal
sparked the Montgomery Bus Boycott, which civil rights historians have in the past credited with
beginning the modern civil rights movement. Others credit the Supreme Court s landmark decision in
Brown v. Board of Education with beginning the movement. Regardless of the event used as the
starting point of the moment, everyone can agree that it is an important period in history. In the forty
five years since the modern civil rights movement, several historians have made significant
contributions to the study of this era. These historians ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Whites were afraid to be labeled as racially moderate, and typically had to join the side of white
supremacy for many reasons, among them the fact that class had previously aligned African
Americans and poorer whites in a fight against poverty, Brown elevated racial status above class.
Also, the decision made those in power in the South exert their disproportionate political power to
keep the state government in their hands. Finally, some Southerners who normally would not care
about race were swayed by the fact that the federal government was trying to impose a decision in
education an arena typically reserved for state government. This made the fight one of states rights
versus federal decree. Klarman s argument claims that this mobilization of white resistance in the
South led to increased tension and violence against African Americans. For example, the bitter
protests in Birmingham and Selma, along with the violence in the Black Belt areas of Lowndes
County, where police dogs, fire hoses and lynching were used came as a result of this massive
resistance movement. This violence, when media attention was paid to it, converted northern whites to
the civil rights cause by exposing the true evils of the Jim Crow system. Civil rights leaders, such as
Martin Luther King, played on that knowledge and specifically targeted cities where the most
powerful backlash would occur, gaining them media air time and allowing the Northerners to

The Importance Of Food Stamp Challenges
Did you know that 17% of Americans in rural areas live below the poverty line, and out of those 17%,
15 million of those individuals are children? (Hunger In America 2014). The month of September was
Hunger Action month and many individuals helped raise awareness by taking the Food Stamp (SNAP)
Challenge. This challenge consists of an individual living on the SNAP balance of a $6 7 per day
budget for food. Many individuals came to the realization that this is a difficult budget, and does not
meet the nutritional needs for a family. Personally, I could not take the challenge. However, I did set
up a budget plan for what I could spend on food for a week. To begin with, personally, I like to shop at
Aldi. A lot of the foods are knock off brand, and are a few dollars cheaper. For breakfast, I could
purchase a box of cereal for $1.69 2. For lunch, I could purchase a can of soup or noodles for $1. Then
for dinner, I could fry a pack of chicken for $2.29 (Aldi vs. Walmart). With tax added, I could possibly

I asked my friends whether or not they would be able to take the SNAP challenge, and also what are
their thoughts on this problem of people living on such a small budget. On Twitter, the poll was 50/50.
Voters voted that some could live on the $6 7 dollars, and then the others said they could not (Anna
Kate Campbell 2017). Then on Facebook, 7 out of 9 friends stated that the SNAP challenge can be
done. Some of the individuals even stated that they are/or have lived on this budget before. However,
two friends brought up the fact that individuals taking the challenge or who live on this budget have to
grocery shop intellectually. Many individuals can buy junk food which does not nutritionally feed a
family. The other friend also brought up the topic and fear that many individuals can misuse the
welfare system (Anna Kate Campbell

The Salem Witch Trial
Many assumptions have been made by historians to explain the occurrence of the Salem witchcraft
trials, and on why the afflicted girls behaved the way they did, but yet there still seems to remain a
sense of doubt on this issue. It seems that this case is not just because of one factor such as Ergotism,
but several more. The affliction started by mind suggestion. The early beliefs and superstitions in
Puritanical society that were practiced on an everyday basis supported the idea that the behaviors and
physical conditions of the afflicted girls were the evil works of the witches, and the Devil. Among
many Puritans, this belief becomes a fear, and then this fear becomes like an additional topping that
adds up to causing convulsive hysteria ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Choking is unusually common: there are cases of arc de cercle, and the hysteric s ability to induce
bruises or welts on the skin may well explain some of the teeth marks (Davidson Lytle 33). These
symptoms of Convulsion Hysteria seem to be similar to the symptoms of bewitchment . For example,
the afflicted girls often accused their tormentor for strangling on their throats, which is relevant to
choking sensation in Convulsion Hysteria. Since the people at that period did not have much
knowledge on Medical science and health, and had to often rely on natural herbs and witch doctors,
not only must have Hysteria occurred, but there must have been other health related issues that might
have affected the way the afflicted girls behaved. Ergot poisoning can be a possibility. The convulsive
symptoms that can be a result of consuming poisonous ergot contaminated rye bread must have been
the cause of girls being bewitched. Rye is a common grain which was heavily relied by the Puritan
society during that time, and the important part of it to highlight is that it was contaminated with the
fungus (Ergot). It is most likely to grow in damp conditions. Variations in weather are therefore crucial
for its growth. In New England, Rye was often grown when wheat crops were devastated by rust.
Consuming Ergot causes hallucination and suffocation, which might have been interpreted at that time
by the Puritans as being tormented or possessed by the

Decision Making On Black Carbon Mitigation
Decision Making on Black Carbon Mitigation
Introduction
There have been myriad of findings over the past couple of years suggesting that climate change may
be happening far faster than we originally anticipated. Climate change has the potential to trigger
abrupt transitions such as the release of carbon from thawing permafrost, ocean acidification, sea level
rise, and biodiversity loss. The world has warmed by about 1.5°F, and by 2100 it is projected to rise
another 2 to 11.5°F (Karl et al., 2009). Scientists conclude that greenhouse gases (GHG) from
anthropogenic sources are the most significant driver of observed climate change (IPCC 2013). GHG
have the property of absorbing the infrared radiation given off by the Earth and re emitting ... Show

BC has a short atmospheric residence time of days to weeks, while long‐lived GHGs can persist in the
atmosphere for centuries. Therefore, reductions in GHG emissions will take longer to influence
atmospheric concentrations and will have less impact on climate on a short timescale, whereas
reductions in current BC emissions are immediate (Bice et al., 2009). Apart from that, some scientists
(Shindell Faluvegi 2009, Ramanathan Feng 2009, Quinn et al. 2008, Jacobson 2010) attribute up to
50% of arctic ice melting to BC emissions, therefore its emissions reductions can substantially
decrease the rate at which arctic ice is melting. Thus, initiatives focused on lowering BC will help
offset the impact of decades of GHG emissions and give efforts to reduce carbon dioxide (CO2)
emissions time to get off the ground. It s worth mentioning that BC also has adverse effect on human
health, such as premature mortality, cardiovascular and respiratory diseases, and development of
chronic respiratory disease, so targeting BC emissions will be beneficial from the public health
standpoint (EPA 2011).
Bringing black carbon into climate strategy offers a complementary route to act on climate change, but
the scientific understanding of black carbon climate effects isn t fully complete to support this
proposition. On the one hand, there s a group of scientists who conclude that BC is one of the most
important human emission in terms of its climate forcing in current atmosphere, as it

Rene Dali s The First Days Of Spring
When people think of surrealism, they usually imagine various objects and ideas twisted into
something unimaginably arbitrary. Of course, almost all artwork is subjective, but surrealism can be
especially difficult to grasp. Often, surrealist paintings look too random and abstract to have any
meaning; it may even seem that the artist disregarded intelligence. However, surrealist work signifies
many aspects of the artist s unconscious thoughts. Salvador Dali s, The First Days of Spring, is
categorized as a surrealist work, shown by its outlandish objects, unexpected juxtapositions, and
bizarre compositions. It may appear meaningless and absurd, but when looking deeper into the
symbols, it is evident that they reflect Dali s repressed self.
Surrealism originated in the early 1920s as an artistic and literary movement that introduced a new
mode of expression. It proposed that the Enlightenment had suppressed qualities of the irrational and
unconscious mind and these thoughts needed to be liberated. It sought to free human experience from
the oppressive boundaries of rationalism. André Breton defined Surrealism as psychic automatism in
its pure state, by which one proposes to express verbally, by means of the written word, or in any other
manner the actual functioning of thought. Though these ideas were new to art, the subconscious and
flow of imagination were studied by Sigmund Freud in years prior. Artists of the surrealist movement
were greatly influenced by his ideas

not. Sports players make more because they sell out stadiums and are paid from the money made

Theu.s. Government s Department Of Child Safety
1. Introduction
1.1. Problem statement and background
The foster care system in the U.S was created with the purpose of providing a safe temporary place for
those children under the age of 18 who could not remain with their biological parents because the
parents are unable, unwilling or unfit to care for the child and guarantee. Sometimes the child is able
to return to their parents, however, many times the child is not and a new permanent home has to be
found to guarantee the safety of the child. Many years ago this would have been done informally by a
neighbor, a close friend of the family, a family member, a church, or an orphanage. However, due to

Her idea was to make sure that every child placed in the foster care system would receive appropriate
care regardless of their background, past history or specific challenges. As part of their mission
statement, this non profit agency s main focus is to recruit, train and support every family interested in
adopting or fostering a child under Department of Child Safety s (DCS) custody.
In 2003, AASK went through an important transition after a needs assessment was completed by
Social Venture Partners, one of the funders for the agency. They were able to identify some of the
external and internal factors affecting the agency, including their leadership and operational
deficiency. As a result, AASK s Board Members requested that Ron Adelson be appointed the new
Chief Executive Director, with hopes he would lead the agency to success. For the last 12 years, and
thanks to his Business Administration background, AASK has become the largest agency in the state
licensed by the Arizona Department of Economic Security (DES). Ron Adelson has been able to lead
the agency, understand the numbers and the issues around the foster care system, and advocate for the
children under DCS custody.
AASK continues to focus on ensuring all of the children in the Arizona foster care system have a
family relationship while they go through a difficult time in their lives.

Gold Mining In South Carolina
South Carolina s commercial gold mining began in 1829, two years after the first discovery of gold in
the area [1]. Mining continued with variations in productivity until World War II, when all gold
mining was abandoned until renewed interest during the 1980s [1]. Figure 1., seen above, shows the
amount of gold produced per year in troy ounces per year and the percentage of total US gold
production [2]. Overall, gold production increases with time as newer mining techniques increase
efficiency. In 1836, South Carolina produced above 11% of total gold for the United States. During

  • 2. Case Study Of Lotte Lacto King Introduction to the Study The purpose of this study is to understand the factors that led to the declining of a brand which was once doing very good. The study also aims to measure the brand equity of the chosen brand and then to do a segmentation and positioning analysis of the brand. Finally, the study aims to recommend an STP strategy for the brand. The brand that I have chosen for the study is Lotte Lacto King. To achieve the purpose, a Focus Group Discussion was conducted which helped in identifying various variables. Using these variables, a questionnaire was developed to understand the perception of the consumers about the brand. A diverse group of approximately 100 consumers was chosen to get the response. The next step involved running a factor analysis on the data collected and arriving at core factors. The Brand Equity was measured next and a STP strategy is recommended. The Brand under consideration, reasons for choosing the Brand The brand chosen to conduct the study is Lotto Lacto King. The parent company for the product is Lotte Corporation India. The company banked on its brand name to attract sales but slowly this strategy started to fail and its sales started to drop. • 4. The Effects Of Socioeconomics On Children s Children Imagine a boy that has been teased mercilessly by his peers throughout his schooling because of his clothes and his free and reduced lunch status. He is constantly under pressure from peers to have the newest and niftiest gadgets; nevertheless, his mother cannot afford to provide food and permanent housing, much less, these extra luxuries. Therefore, he has to comprise with what his mother can afford. She tries to provide for her children and wants to offer them the world. Nonetheless, due to her economic situation, she cannot provide her for children adequately; they are forced to ask for aid from the government, close family, and friends. This situation brings light to the turmoil that socioeconomics brings upon children and that they need to endure to survive in this society. When it comes to socioeconomics, children are the utmost affected. Socioeconomics has long term effects, prevalently distresses children in school and in development. Through my friend s experience that he has shared with me, it has allowed me to notice the harrowing effects that socioeconomics has on children. First, one may ask exactly what is socioeconomic status and other terms that surround this issue? Socioeconomic status can be defined as an overall ranking of a person s position in society based on income, education, and occupation (Benokraitis, 2014, p. 142). Next, let us investigate the religious studies of African American worship, with a focus on its characteristics, empowerment, and elements. Heritage of African American Religious The Africans brought immeasurable religious beliefs and practices to America. Their beliefs included a superior, compassionate God, which generated the universe and was its definitive Provider. The Devine intervention of religious philosophies and practices began for the African prior to their capture and survival, of the sea journey, embarking of slave ships from West Africa to the West Indies, and the consequences of slavery. The Africans incline to view existence holistically; the nonspiritual and the holy are mutually undivided realities that exist in aggressive tension but interconnected occurrences. Slaves embraced this understanding of life, resulting in worship with no constraint to place nor time. Some scholars such as E. Franklin Frazier, contends that slavery in the United States expunged all the religious traditions of the slaves. John Keats On The Sea English 1 Athini Majali Group HH 22August 2014 Friday 9:35 Tutor: Ms Ashley Graven A close reading of John Keat s On the Sea Born in Moorgate, London, 1795, John Keats proved to be a promising poet during the short course of his life he is hailed as one of the greatest poets of the Romantic period, one of his greatest literary works include To Autumn and The eve of St Agnes. The Romantic Movement was a reaction to the emphasis on society and logic present in the enlightenment era the period focused extensively on individuality, human emotion and the relationship between man and nature (Abram, 283). • 10. Shinto And Daoism Similarities East Asian culture brought to us three distinct and enlightening religions, Daoism, Confucianism, and Shinto. These religions are all very different and unique they have very unique ties that bind. Daoism and Confucianism were both brought into fruition during the Shang dynasty around 1600 to 1046 BCE in China (1) while Shinto is an ancient religion to which we do not have a defined date of conception. The most forward similarities Daoism, Confucianism, and Shinto share are State Cult, and ancestor worship (although Shinto practices ancestor veneration (2)). Now let s take a more in depth look at these unique and wonderful East Asian religions! First Daoism! Daoism is a Chinese based religion that was formed during the Shang dynasty somewhere in the years of 1600 1046 BCE. Daoism is the way of nature and morality (3). Daoism has an outward appearance of harmony with nature, peace and being carefree but this simple life religion is deeply rooted in a tradition of great mental and physical disciple. (3) Daoism is mystically religious and it has been said that we cannot describe the Dao, we can live in harmony with it...Humans model themselves on earth, Earth on heaven, Heaven on the way, And the way on that which is naturally so. • 11. Information Systems And Database Technology Health information systems and database technology continue to advance and grow and allow users to pull data and interconnect like ever before. The goal for this discussion is to better familiarize you with fundamental concepts in relation to database systems and relevant health information standards. We will also be comparing three of the top ten most purchased EHR systems for comparison, allowing you to understand the functionality of each system, as well as, the barriers to implementation. A database is a collection of information organized so that a computer program can quickly select desired pieces of data. A database can be thought of as an electronic filing system. An example would be how a large hospital uses and stores medical records. Most databases are organized by fields, records, and files. Databases can be quite simple counting only a single table which is composed of a record, which are made up of fields or can be large and contain many records and fields (Beaumont 2000). Databases can be paper based but most are computer based. Databases in computers are usually handled by software called DataBase Management Systems (DBMS) (Beaumont 2000). These are a collection of programs that enables you to organize, enter, and select data in a database. Some examples are Oracle, Access and Paradox. Some components of DBMS include table and structured data, meta data, action/privileges, queries and reports, and programming language. A table is collection of data ... • 12. 2. Language . The Tower Of Babel Is Symbolic Of The... 2. Language The Tower of Babel is symbolic of the fundamental differences between humans and gods. Humans are not meant to be completely self sufficient as God is, they should look upon God for guidance in their life. This message was ignored in the construction of the tower in which the two main motivations were to gain fame and to build a city to preserve unity (Interpreter s Concise Commentary, 17). Humans should never have the arrogance to try to become gods on earth through fame. Further, one should only preserve unity if that is God s plan. Even this looming, powerful structure pales in comparison to the greatness that God can accomplish, i.e. Humans can never reach the awesomeness and power of God. 3. Author Genesis is composed ... This is seen in the setting of the story, the apocalyptic genre of the excerpt, and the detailed explanation of the building of the tower. This story is set in the land of Shinar (Genesis 11:2). Shinar is described as meaning Babylonia, the ancient state resting in the Tigris Euphrates river basin. Further, within the state of Babylonia, was the northern city of Babylon. The setting of Babylon for this ancient tradition indicates a 6th century, exiled Jewish audience as it establishes a basis for an apocalyptic message about their exile. The detailed description of the brick making process and bitumen (Genesis 11:3) also indicates a Jewish audience. A Jewish audience would have been familiar with sun dried bricks, with no archeological evidence of kiln fired bricks at this time in Palestine (Walton, 163). Mesopotamia however used expensive bitumen almost exclusively with kiln fired bricks (Walton, 163). Further these expensive building materials would have only been used for places, temples and other official buildings within a city (Walton, 163). • 13. Norwegian Black Metal Norwegian Black Metal Music has a lot of ability to affect human emotions in special ways among the arts. Music can connect people to one another, and it can also connect people to whatever they hold sacred. Geertz wanted to know how religion function in a society. To him, religion consists of symbols that had meanings for ideas, values and lifestyles of a society. Black metal is one of those. In this, I will be discussing how Satanism came into a music genre call black metal that was started in Norway and how it is a movement and not a controversy like most people think. Norwegian Black Metal is a sub genre of heavy metal, which was started in the 1980s in England. It received its name from a band called Venom when they released their second album called Black Metal and its lyrics focused on anti Christian and Satanic themes. Black metal is a synonym for Satanic metal because they express harsh anti Christian and other anti religion views. They then influenced a lot of other bands to take after what they were doing. They influenced one of the major bands called Hellhammer. Everyone said they made raw and vicious music with Satanic lyrics that later influenced the black metal. They influence a lot of main bands, Mayhem and Darkthrone. Some also believe that Euronymous goes their name from Hellhammer s track Eurynomos. Ever hear of Euronymous, Count Grishnackh or Hellhammer? Maybe not? What about Mayhem, Darkthrone or Burzum? Is there a light then? Or maybe eight ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. The Rise Of Terrorist Groups During The Middle East Jason Wang Mrs. Ma 10 Acc. English 7 April 2015 The Rise of Terrorist Groups in the Middle East. The Middle East has been an area of conflict and religious extremism for the latter half of the twentieth century and it is expected to continue to be a region of conflict in the future. Why is it that terrorist groups constantly emerge and dominate for a period of time before steadily declining, only to be replaced by a different, equally or even more inhumane, splinter group? Saudi Arabian Wahhabism is a strain of fundamentalist Islam that has invaded and displaced traditionally moderate Islam and generates much of the conflict in the Middle East today. To combat and destroy future extremism and solve the problem permanently, the world and its inhabitants must deracinate this menace from its roots. Aside from religious fundamentalism, a large portion of the problem lies in the modern history of the Middle East. When the Ottoman Empire collapsed in 1920, combined British and French politicians, scholars, archaeologists, military officers and colonial administrators arbitrarily divided up the boundaries of the newly created nations in the Sykes Picot agreement. In effect, they created the first reason for much of the sectarian and ethnic conflict found in the Middle East. Regardless of intention, the British placed disparate tribes that had warred for centuries in the same country and divided ethnicities and culturally similar groups into different countries. Dolphins have always been one of my favorite animals so I instantly liked it. Delphinus is the latin word for Dolphin, and Delphinus is in the northern sky close to the celestial equator. Delphinus was one of forty eight constellations founded by Ptolemy in the 2nd century. Delphinus is a rather small constellation, ranking 69th biggest out of 88. Typically, Calgary Herald journalists gave textual prominence towards voices and ideas that pushed industry protection and dismissed claims made by environmentalists. Even throughout my initial reading of the data, emphasis was almost always placed on the economic costs of climate change policies prior to making mention of the inevitable environmental consequences. This foregrounding of governmental and industry voices and the backgrounding of environmental voices is clear in the article published titled Critics Challenge Emissions Target (Wingrove 2015, May 16). The first person referenced is the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If an explanation was given, it omitted the fact that policies are being put into place to prevent the calamitous effects of global warming. Coverage on the economic costs of climate change adaptation strategies heavily outweighed writing on the environmental harms that would arise out of non action. By way of illustration, an article about oil production reads TransCanada Corp. s Keystone XL pipeline and Enbridge Inc. s Northern Gateway project heading west, have been bogged down by environmental concerns [...] and the lack of pipelines is a further drag on investment intentions in the Canadian oil patch (Hussain 2015, April 11). Hussain s article refrains from explaining why environmentalists are having concerns. Within the news reporting discourse, one would reasonably expect objective and detailed coverage but in this instance, the author s choice of words flagrantly drops the plethora of reasons why environmentalists would be concerned with the actions of big oil. Another headline reads, There may be hope for new pipelines after all (Thomson 2015, October 15). While these examples may not appear erroneous on the surface, upon close inspection on the phrasing level, both bogged down and drag carry negative connotations that frame the protection of the environment as a barrier ... A View from the Bridge is a play written by Arthur Miller. Miller s inspiration for this play is close to his heart. He acts as a chorus to the play and an aid to the audience. When Eddie implies he may have feelings for Catherine Alfieri is already aware and implies that this will be his fatal flaw. he never realises it, but though the years there is too much love for the daughter, there is too much love for the niece . • 18. How Did William Penn Impact Society William Penn, an English entrepreneur, had an unforeseen impact on the history of the United States of America. Penn had been already a champion for democracy, religious freedom, and anti slavery movements. Through his good relations with both the common people of England and the Indians of Pennsylvania, Penn was able to secure an entire state for many years to come. So that people could escape persecution for their religious beliefs, have more freedom, and have a good relationship with the Indians. Penn was born on October 14, 1644 at Tower Hill, London, the first of three children of English Admiral Sir William Penn, and Margaret Jasper. Penn had two wives, Hannah Callowhill Penn (1696 1718), Gulielma Maria Springett (1672 1694), he had twelve children in total. In 1660 1662, Penn enrolled in the University of Oxford, where he rejected Anglicanism and was expelled. In 1665, Charles II passed the Conventicle Act, this forbidden gatherings for worship of more than five people, apart from serving the Anglican Church. In secondary research methodology, a research uses existing data to answer research questions. The key advantage of using the secondary research methodology is that it is an inexpensive method to extract already available information. The only limitation of this method is that information collected does not exactly address the research question as researchers must analyze qualitative data for recurring themes. The greatest artists are able to blend cultures and practices into a single work, creating an aesthetic dialogue that challenges viewers to look at the piece with multiple perspectives and creates the opportunity for continuous discovery upon subsequent visits. On the first floor of the new Broad Museum, in Downtown Los Angeles, there is a piece of art executed by the prolific Japanese artist, Takashi Murakami, which does just this. Additionally, through this technique, Murakami is able to compress characteristics of digital design, high and low arts, pop culture, and historical culture all into one piece. As one begins to analyze what is taking place on the canvas, this becomes more evident. As one walks around the first floor gallery and gazes at this work by Murakami which spans two walls wrapping from one wall, through the corner, to the next wall one will see images of anime, skulls, fish, boats, geishas and more. Christians, Jews, and the Black Plague Relations between the Christians and Jews of medieval Europe were always influenced by their unequal social and economic statuses and the religious competition that existed between them. While the Jews served a purpose in the Christian religion, this purpose meant that the more populous Christians that had come to dominate Europe only tolerated the Jews. No premise of equality existed, and the Jews came to depend on relationships with lower level rulers to secure their relative safety. Rumors persisted that Jews had poisoned wells, and the Jews were often the targets of violence that the Christians seemed exceedingly willing to deliver. One of the most documented Christian responses to the plague was the rise of the flagellants. A spontaneous and unsanctioned movement, the flagellants sought to ward off the plague by physically punishing themselves for the sins that had caused God to send the Black Death to punish them (Tuchman, 1978, p. 125). Flagellant processions would typically remain on the move, marching from town to town, while twice a day beating themselves with whips and other instruments until they drew blood (Slack, 1988, p. 439). They were also known for their singing of religious songs while marching and whipping themselves, which ran counter to the official Catholic Church position and caused church officials no small amount of trouble (Lerner, 1981, p. 535 36). The official reasoning by the Catholic Church was that the flagellant movement was an unnecessary and wrong reaction to the Black Death, since there were equal death rates among Christians and Jews. The flagellants were also part of a Christian movement known as premillennialism (Lerner, 1981, 534). The extensive deaths in Europe cause many Christians to believe that the second coming of Christ was near, which would result in the end of the world. This interest in the events that were prophesied to happen just before the end of the world ran very high during this time. This interest was also a large influence responsible for the rise of groups like the flagellants (Lerner, 1981, 538). Another common occurrence in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 23. How Did Historians Contribute To The Civil Rights Movement The Civil Rights Movement is often thought to begin with a tired Rosa Parks defiantly declining to give up her seat on a bus in Montgomery, Alabama. She paid the price by going to jail. Her refusal sparked the Montgomery Bus Boycott, which civil rights historians have in the past credited with beginning the modern civil rights movement. Others credit the Supreme Court s landmark decision in Brown v. Board of Education with beginning the movement. Regardless of the event used as the starting point of the moment, everyone can agree that it is an important period in history. Whites were afraid to be labeled as racially moderate, and typically had to join the side of white supremacy for many reasons, among them the fact that class had previously aligned African Americans and poorer whites in a fight against poverty, Brown elevated racial status above class. Also, the decision made those in power in the South exert their disproportionate political power to keep the state government in their hands. Finally, some Southerners who normally would not care about race were swayed by the fact that the federal government was trying to impose a decision in education an arena typically reserved for state government. This made the fight one of states rights versus federal decree. Klarman s argument claims that this mobilization of white resistance in the South led to increased tension and violence against African Americans. For example, the bitter protests in Birmingham and Selma, along with the violence in the Black Belt areas of Lowndes County, where police dogs, fire hoses and lynching were used came as a result of this massive resistance movement. This violence, when media attention was paid to it, converted northern whites to the civil rights cause by exposing the true evils of the Jim Crow system. • 25. The Salem Witch Trial Many assumptions have been made by historians to explain the occurrence of the Salem witchcraft trials, and on why the afflicted girls behaved the way they did, but yet there still seems to remain a sense of doubt on this issue. It seems that this case is not just because of one factor such as Ergotism, but several more. The affliction started by mind suggestion. The early beliefs and superstitions in Puritanical society that were practiced on an everyday basis supported the idea that the behaviors and physical conditions of the afflicted girls were the evil works of the witches, and the Devil. Among many Puritans, this belief becomes a fear, and then this fear becomes like an additional topping that adds up to causing convulsive hysteria ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Choking is unusually common: there are cases of arc de cercle, and the hysteric s ability to induce bruises or welts on the skin may well explain some of the teeth marks (Davidson Lytle 33). These symptoms of Convulsion Hysteria seem to be similar to the symptoms of bewitchment . For example, the afflicted girls often accused their tormentor for strangling on their throats, which is relevant to choking sensation in Convulsion Hysteria. Since the people at that period did not have much knowledge on Medical science and health, and had to often rely on natural herbs and witch doctors, not only must have Hysteria occurred, but there must have been other health related issues that might have affected the way the afflicted girls behaved. Ergot poisoning can be a possibility. The convulsive symptoms that can be a result of consuming poisonous ergot contaminated rye bread must have been the cause of girls being bewitched. Rye is a common grain which was heavily relied by the Puritan society during that time, and the important part of it to highlight is that it was contaminated with the fungus (Ergot). It is most likely to grow in damp conditions. Variations in weather are therefore crucial for its growth. In New England, Rye was often grown when wheat crops were devastated by rust. • 26. Decision Making On Black Carbon Mitigation Decision Making on Black Carbon Mitigation Introduction There have been myriad of findings over the past couple of years suggesting that climate change may be happening far faster than we originally anticipated. Climate change has the potential to trigger abrupt transitions such as the release of carbon from thawing permafrost, ocean acidification, sea level rise, and biodiversity loss. The world has warmed by about 1.5°F, and by 2100 it is projected to rise another 2 to 11.5°F (Karl et al., 2009). Scientists conclude that greenhouse gases (GHG) from anthropogenic sources are the most significant driver of observed climate change (IPCC 2013). GHG have the property of absorbing the infrared radiation given off by the Earth and re emitting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... BC has a short atmospheric residence time of days to weeks, while long‐lived GHGs can persist in the atmosphere for centuries. Therefore, reductions in GHG emissions will take longer to influence atmospheric concentrations and will have less impact on climate on a short timescale, whereas reductions in current BC emissions are immediate (Bice et al., 2009). Apart from that, some scientists (Shindell Faluvegi 2009, Ramanathan Feng 2009, Quinn et al. 2008, Jacobson 2010) attribute up to 50% of arctic ice melting to BC emissions, therefore its emissions reductions can substantially decrease the rate at which arctic ice is melting. Thus, initiatives focused on lowering BC will help offset the impact of decades of GHG emissions and give efforts to reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions time to get off the ground. It s worth mentioning that BC also has adverse effect on human health, such as premature mortality, cardiovascular and respiratory diseases, and development of chronic respiratory disease, so targeting BC emissions will be beneficial from the public health standpoint (EPA 2011). Bringing black carbon into climate strategy offers a complementary route to act on climate change, but the scientific understanding of black carbon climate effects isn t fully complete to support this proposition. On the one hand, there s a group of scientists who conclude that BC is one of the most important human emission in terms of its climate forcing in current atmosphere, as it ... • 27. Rene Dali s The First Days Of Spring When people think of surrealism, they usually imagine various objects and ideas twisted into something unimaginably arbitrary. Of course, almost all artwork is subjective, but surrealism can be especially difficult to grasp. Often, surrealist paintings look too random and abstract to have any meaning; it may even seem that the artist disregarded intelligence. However, surrealist work signifies many aspects of the artist s unconscious thoughts. Salvador Dali s, The First Days of Spring, is categorized as a surrealist work, shown by its outlandish objects, unexpected juxtapositions, and bizarre compositions. It may appear meaningless and absurd, but when looking deeper into the symbols, it is evident that they reflect Dali s repressed self. Surrealism originated in the early 1920s as an artistic and literary movement that introduced a new mode of expression. It proposed that the Enlightenment had suppressed qualities of the irrational and unconscious mind and these thoughts needed to be liberated. It sought to free human experience from the oppressive boundaries of rationalism. André Breton defined Surrealism as psychic automatism in its pure state, by which one proposes to express verbally, by means of the written word, or in any other manner the actual functioning of thought. Though these ideas were new to art, the subconscious and flow of imagination were studied by Sigmund Freud in years prior. Artists of the surrealist movement were greatly influenced by his ideas ...
