Questions On Demand And Demand
QUESTION 1 Explain, with the use of demand and supply diagram(s), the difference between a
change in quantity demanded of hats and a change in demand for hats. The difference between a
change in Quantity demand and demand for hats are explained below: Change in Quantity Demand:
The movement alongside a demand curve because of the only factor that is price. For example: If the
price of Hat is $5 people will buy 20 hats, if the price of hats increased by 10% people will buy less
hats. (Figure in hard copy) Change in Demand: The movement of Demand curve because of other
factor not by the price i.e. buyers, tastes, income and expectations of buyers, preferences. (Figure in
hard copy) So, the difference between Change in demand cure and change is demand Change In
quantity demand is related with the change of price whereas change in demand is not about the price it
is about other factor Such as: buyers, tastes, income and expectations of buyers, preferences.
QUESTION 2 Explain, with the use of demand and supply diagrams, the effect of the following
events on the market for solar panels: (a) If the price of solar panels is below the market equilibrium
price. (b) The price of electricity for an average household has increased by 50 percent. (c) New
technology has increased the productivity of solar panel producers. (A) If the price of solar panel is
below the market equilibrium price quantity supplied is less than quantity demand which leads to
shortage. Due to

Male Dishonor as Guilt and Shame in The Rape of Lucrece...
Male Dishonor as Guilt and Shame in The Rape of Lucrece
Inasmuch as a woman s virginity or chastity is imagined as an object that can be owned, rape becomes
a property crime, consisting in the theft of a woman s virtue from its rightful owner, her male
guardian. Bernice Harris articulates this view with respect to Titus Andronicus: The definition of the
word is based on ownership: rape is an appropriate term only if what is taken is not rightfully owned
(388). The man who can claim ownership of a woman is subsequently dishonored when she is
violated: Honour, then, is a function of ownership (389).
While it is tempting to see the Shakespearean concept of rape entirely in such terms, such a view is
not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By contrast, the pagan humanist tradition, with its pantheon of capricious and often morally suspect
gods, upheld a highly public ideal of honor, whereby behavior could be regulated. Whereas guilt can
be either private or public, shame is necessarily a public affair. Guilt, as much a theological as ethical
construct, requires appropriate punishment, but shame requires simply appropriate action to eliminate
its source. Without dwelling on these distinctions, however, Williams argues that in the early modern
period these contradictory sets of values operated simultaneously, and it is this tension that informs the
often contradictory treatment of rape in such texts as Titus Andronicus and Lucrece.
In The Rape of Lucrece this tension is worked out in the portrayals of the two primary male
characters. The text is overtly concerned with the question of male honor, and the damage done to it
by the act of rape. Contradictory to the predictions of the rape=theft equation, however, it is not only
Collatine, the injured husband, who is depicted as dishonored by the crime. Rather than as a
conquering hero, the rapist Tarquin is himself depicted as dishonored by his crime. The different forms
of dishonor incurred by the two men, I will argue, result from the judgments

Medics Chapter 3 Summary
Chapter 3 entitled Medics is particularly significant due to its illustration of the unique physical and
psychological effects of the war on army medics. This response will assess the significance of the
author s goal in this chapter and discuss the methods he employs to achieve it. Ultimately, by looking
at this small aspect of the war in Vietnam, one can gain a much deeper understanding of the unique
and complex individuals involved. In this chapter, Glasser s goal seems to be two fold: 1) to shed light
on the physical sacrifices and acts of bravery committed by medics and 2) to illustrate the unique
psychological effects of the war on army medics. More specifically, Glasser makes the argument that
medics were motivated to risk their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He explains that the psychological effect of the war on medics (as is evident from these stories) was so
substantial, that they army reduced their required term of service from 12 to 7 months. Completely
consumed by their roles as protectors and saviors, medics often limited their own food so that they
could carry more medical supplies. They stole extra plasma to bring into battle and even asked their
family members to send them additional medical supplies. In truth, the sacrificial behavior of medics
was so predictable that the Viet Cong intentionally wounded (rather than killed) American soldiers in
an attempt to lure nearby medics into the line of fire. Ultimately, this chapter is extremely significant
because it provides added nuance to the reader s understanding of the war and tells stories of bravery
and sacrifice that might have otherwise been forever lost to history. Although the soldiers of Vietnam
tend to be portrayed as poorly trained and unruly, Glasser exposes this mistaken generalization in his
treatment of army medics. Thus, the reader is granted an intimate glimpse into an aspect of the
Vietnam War that is rarely discussed in history courses or popular discourse. In this respect, chapter 3
offers the best contribution to Glasser s overall goal of preserving the memories of those who served
in Vietnam, a war which is all to often over generalized or ignored

The Handmaid s Tale By Margaret Atwood
Dystopian Research Essay: The Handmaid s Tale by Margaret Atwood
In the words of Erika Gottlieb With control of the past comes domination of the future. A dystopia
reflects and discusses major tendencies in contemporary society. The Handmaid s Tale is a dystopian
novel written by Margaret Atwood in 1985. The novel follows its protagonist Offred as she lives in a
society focused on physical and spiritual oppression of the female identity. Within The Handmaid s
Tale it is evident that through the exploration of free will and femininity, the dystopian novel presents
an understanding that the future is determined by the actions taken in the past and the present. These
actions are closely related to the novel s context and the characteristics that are present in the
dystopian genre. An understanding that the future is brought into existence by the past is shown
through the exploration of free will. Firstly The Handmaid s Tale reflects Atwood s historical context
where the feminist movements of the 1970s and 1980s proceeded with great triumphs for women in
the fields of politics, media and private households. This is reflected in Offred s society before the
implementation of its current regime where all these progresses have been undone and the women in
Gilead are forbidden to vote, read and write. The society focuses on physical and spiritual oppression,
manipulating the media and controlling the citizen s thoughts as a mandatory governing mechanism, a
common dystopian

In fact, the threat of an attack has grown significantly throughout cyberspace to where cyberspace has
emerged as an arena for war similar to that of land, sea, air and space, with the emergent possibility to
harm the national security of nation states, as exemplified by the 2007 cyber warfare that plagued
Estonia.
Nearly a decade since the introduction of the Internet, the transnational community still does not have
an organized, authoritative group of standards to oversee the actions of nations in cyberspace. To deter
aggression in cyberspace it is necessary to have such standards established.
This paper examines the cyber attacks of the nation Estonia and how the lack of global standards was
a critical part of the attack. In addition, this paper looks at the vulnerabilities in the cyber security
policies and practices instituted at the occurrence of the cyber attacks on Estonia as well as the
advantages and disadvantages for improving and reducing each named vulnerability and security
practice.
2. Background and Global Impact
From the time Estonia affirmed its independence from the Soviet Union in 1991, it has
enthusiastically incorporated ICT in the everyday life of its citizens, therefore becoming one of the
most digitally connected nations in Europe. To further illustrate, over 65 percent of Estonians are
Internet consumers where they execute practically every administrative operation of society online

Galilen s Impact On The Scientific Revolution
The Scientific Revolution was crucial for the development of science. During the 16th and 17th
century, after the reformation, the scientific revolution had begun. The scientific methods and thoughts
had seen change, however the members of the church did not like this. From the renaissance and the
enlightenment, many individuals were interested in contributing to the world with their ideas ands
many individuals were able to formulate conclusions. There were three men that were crucial in
shaping the scientific revolution. Galileo was a crucial figure in shaping the scientific revolution in
various subjects including astronomy. Nicoloaus Copernicus was a key figure and changed the way
man viewed the universe. As well as, Isaac Newton is known as one of the most influential figures due
to his contributions in astronomy. The impact of the scientific revolution was positive as seen through
Galileo Galilei, Isaac Newton, and Nicoloaus Copernicus.
Galileo had a positive impact on the scientific revolution as he contributed to physics, astronomy,
mathematics and philosophy. He has constructed his own telescope in 1609 and the telescope helped
him see and be able to explain the rings of Saturn, the moons of Jupiter and the phases of Venus. He
was also able to witness innumerable stars that he had never seen before. As he stated, The Milky Way
is nothing else but a mass of innumerable stars planted together in clusters. As well, from the
telescope, Galileo had proved that the moon

A Good Credit Profile Can Improve Your Credit Score Essay
For some, there are just goods that they consider absolutely essential to their existence, often to the
point of spending every cent just to have these. In turn, they rely on loans, and survive from paycheck
to paycheck. But living on credit will then lead to a lifetime of hardship to pay off all their loans. If
worse comes to worst, some may even default on these loans. But don t blame the loans. In fact, a
good credit profile can improve your credit score. Before applying for a loan, you must first learn all
about loans. That is the first component in good personal money management. And during this time,
when we are all being hit hard by the worldwide financial crisis, we all need to be astute when it
comes to handling money. Here s the scoop on loans. Basically, loans are quantities of money that you
borrow from a lender, which can be repaid over a set period of time with the inclusion of interest.
Interest is a percentage of the loan which the bank earns in return extending credit to the borrower.
Loans can be secured, or where the borrower stakes a piece of his property to acquire the loan, also
known as a collateral; or unsecured, where no collateral or tangible asset is pledged. One particular
example of loan that many need to learn more about are bad credit loans. Those with good credit
scores have a history of paying on time, and satisfying their debt obligations, while those with bad
credit scores have a penchant towards late payments and neglected loans. This

Distribution Of Minimum Spanning Trees
Distributed Verification of Minimum Spanning Trees
Authors: Amos Korman, Shay Kutten
Problem Statement: A graph and a tree is given as input in a distributed manner and the algorithm is
should be able to verifiy if the tree is a Minimum Spanning Tree (MST).
Detailed Explanation of the Problem Statement
Definitions
Spanning tree: A spanning tree of an undirected graph is a subgraph which is a tree and includes all the
vertices of G.
Minimum Spanning Tree (MST) : A spanning tree of a graph whose weight (sum of weight of its
edges) is less than or equal to the weight of all other spanning trees of the graph.
Verification of a Spanning Tree: A graph and a tree is given as input and the algorithm should check if
the tree is an MST for the graph.
In distributed verification of Minimum Spanning Trees, the input is provided in a distributed manner
which means that each node of the graph knows which of its edges belong to the tree. A node does not
have any knowledge of the edges which do not emanate from it. The verification algorithm should
label the vertices of the graph so that every node, given its own label and the labels of its neighbours
only is able to detect if these edges are MST edges or not and whether the input tree is an MST.
Motivation
The motivation for working on verification algorithms is that verification is easier than computation.
In a distributed setting verification is even more important because the tree is given in a distributed
manner and computing such a

Disadvantages And Disadvantages Of Anodized Cookware
Anodizing is an industrial process applied to metals to make them harder and more resistant to
corrosion. Metals gradually degrade when in contact with moisture and when exposed to air, a process
known as oxidation. They form an oxide layer which is softer than the metal and can easily be peeled
away either mechanically, like when it rusts, or chemically, such as when it combines with other
substances such as strong acids and bases.
Anodization takes advantage of this process by treating the oxidized surface of the metal with electric
current forming a hard surface that is resistant to manual or chemical corrosion. However, this
explanation is too simplified and the actual chemical process is far more complex. Anodization
technology has grown ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The melting point of aluminium (1221 degrees Fahrenheit) is much higher than that typically found in
the kitchen, making these pots a logical choice for intensive cooking environments.
Easy To Maintain
Hard anodized kitchenware does not require intense cleaning and will usually be cleaned satisfactorily
in soap and water. It is dishwasher safe on its own, although handles and the rivets that attach them
may not withstand harsh dishwashing detergents depending on the material they are made of. This
makes anodized cookware a favorite for regular cooks as well as professional chefs.
Non Toxic
The process of anodizing creates a tough, strong, non reactive layer which solves the problem of
possible toxicity. Most of the anodized pots and pans are made of aluminium as the base. On its own,
aluminium is a soft metal and reacts easily with food which means it will be ingested leading to health
problems. Anodized cookware is a better option compared to plain aluminium.
Disadvantages Of Using Hard Anodized Cookware
Expensive
Anodized cookware is a superior cooking material but it doesn t come cheap. With increased
improvements in anodization technology, anodized cookware gets even more expensive by the

A Central Of Venous Catheter
A central venous catheter is known as a central line or a CVC. A CVC is a thin flexible catheter that is
inserted into a large vein near the heart in either the arm or the chest. (Web MD, 2016) This central
line is used to provide medication, fluids, nutrients, or blood products over a long period of time. This
is generally used for patients who have chemotherapy, frequent blood draws, need additional
nutritional support, or have kidney failure. (ATS, 2015) There are several considerations to keep in
mind when a CVC is being administered such as understanding why a CVC is being placed, safety
guidelines, teaching considerations, and ways to care for the CVC.
Reasons for needing a CVC
There are several reasons why a CVC may be placed depending on each patient s condition. It is
important for each patient to understand the reason for having a central line inserted; some reasons
may include: I.V. medications for a long period of time, large amounts of fluid, several blood draws,
additional nutrition, or kidney failure. When administering medication over a long period of time it
can be irritating to the vein so a central line is placed so that it is easily tolerated; especially for
chemotherapy medications. When administering fluids through a larger vein it is less irritating to the
vein and it is easier to manage fluid intake. Patients can often have several blood draws daily in order
to run tests to make sure that the treatment and body function is maintaining; so it is ideal

During the summer and winter, many families like to go on vacations to tropical locations in order to

popular places to visit are Florida and Hawaii. While many believe that one beach community is as

different people, depending on what kind of vacation they want to experience. In particular there are
differences in the cultures, weather, and attractions of these two beach communities.

Even if you cannot tell the difference between the cultures of Hawaii and Florida, the weather easily
sets the two apart. As far as tropical locations go, many people expect the weather to be warm and
sunny, looking for a perfect day to go to the beach and relax next to the ocean. In Florida, though the
heat and humidity is almost unbearable. It makes you want to immediately jump into the ocean to try a
cool off under the hot sun. Unfortunately, with the sun beating down on the ocean and the humidity in
the air trapping all of the heat, the ocean also heats up very quickly and it becomes more like a hot tub,
which is not the most relaxing of choice in the middle of a warm, summer day. With all of the
humidity in Florida, it is also very common for a sudden downpour to erupt and leave you soaking wet
like you have been in the ocean all day. Despite these flaws in the perfect, tropical weather you expect,
when you do get a nice day in Florida, it makes you wish the day would never end and that you would
never have to leave.
Hawaii s weather makes the best days in Florida seem like a hot, humid day in Missouri in the middle
of August.

How To Write An Essay About Musical Theatre
Lights...Curtain...Act I Anyone who has seen a musical theatre production has seen the world through
new eyes. They have most likely oohed and aahed at the scenery, the bright lights, the simple, yet
effective costumes, and of course, the talent of the performers. The way the actors melodic voices
carry out over the crowd, the way the choreography emanates their emotions, pouring heart and soul
into their role. An audience member at a musical theatre production is whisked away into an alternate
universe, where troubles melt like lemon drops (Harburg) and where anything can happen (Sherman).
The troubles of the world fade away, if only for those few hours. To create this alternate universe,
metaphorically speaking, is not a simple task, however. Multiple components go into producing a
musical, including music, characters, and dialogue. Many people enjoy watching musical theatre, but
do they really know how the magic happens? Musical theatre is a genre of drama in which singing and
dancing play an essential part. The word musical originates from the Latin root, musica , of or related

The MOVE Disaster Essay
The MOVE Disaster
Quality leadership is a telling sign of a successful organization. When given the opportunity to guide
or direct others, a leader is capable of drawing individuals or groups together to accomplish certain
goals. Given the responsibility to address a problem that had developed over a span of many months
concerning a cult (an unorthodox or misguided group of extremist) called MOVE, newly elected
Philadelphia Mayor, Wilson Goode did not exercise his authority as the elected leader by working
meticulously with the other city officials and offices to shut down MOVE operations and protect the
city s residents from their presence. His inaction caused tragic results in which eleven people died.

volatile as that of the offensive, sordid, anarchistic, law breaking actions of the MOVE cult presented
a situation unlike any other he had had to deal with. Without going into great detail, the series of
events leading to the ultimate disaster follows as this. Goode is elected Mayor in November of 1983
after MOVE had been in existence for over a decade. Residents affected by the individuals of the
MOVE cult cannot tolerate their indecency any longer. They call for immediate assistance from the
Mayor and city officials to step in and resolve the conflict. Two years pass with continued harassment
by MOVE and minimal action taken by the city. In fact, according to Nagel, Goode s attempt at aiding
the residents of the 6200 block of Cobbs Creek against the blaring bullhorns of vulgar ranting from the
MOVE group was to open a nearby recreation center so residents children could escape the
loudspeakers and Mayor Goode arranged psychological counseling to help the children cope with
chronic tension (Stillman, 2005, p. 239). For someone who has such zeal and respect for serving the
public as shown by his past actions, it is flabbergasting and appalling that this plan of non intervention
was acceptable or condoned. Left with no other option but public protest and further disgruntlement,
the neighborhood of the 6200

Gender And Gender Inequality
Long time ago, parents tended to invest on their sons rather than their daughters. In the past, most of
boys went to school, and girls stayed home. At that moment, the women were not treated equally
because they did not go outside to work. The women only stayed home to take care of children and do
housework, so they depended on their husband financially. Nowadays people have still treated one
another differently based on group identity, especially when it comes to gender appearances. Gender
inequality has been happening around the world, it still occurs at some careers, workplaces, and at
home. Culture has a great impact on gender inequality in some developing countries. For instance,
Vietnamese people like to have more sons rather than daughters because they believe in raising a
daughter is like watering your neighbors garden, and raising a daughter as ploughing someone else s
field (Jayachandran, 2014, p. 11). In Vietnam, parents usually invest more on their sons rather than
daughters because the sons play a significant role in religious rituals. Jayachandran (2014) reported
that sons will carry on the family name or widows wanting to retain family land also make the first
son especially valuable (p.14). Therefore, the sons are valued in my family. I still remember when I
was a child, I saw my mother tried to be pregnant several times to have baby boys. However, she had
only one boys, and four girls accidently. When I was a little, I noticed the gender was

The Handmaids Tale And East Of Eden Analysis
Fear controls the characters decisions in both The Handmaid s Tale and East of Eden. In the Handmaid
s tale Offred is ripped away from her family, and forced to be the surrogate for a very wealthy political
family. Throughout the book she is taught to fear men, but if a man were to actually harm her, she
would be the one to take the blame. Men are not allowed to speak to her or even see her face. In East
of Eden everyone fears one another. The character Adam, fears his brother Charles, and the term
sibling rivalry is stretched to its limits. Adam has a right to fear his own brother in these
circumstances. Charles is portrayed as vicious and evil from a very young age and never gets punished
because his parents are also afraid of him. In each of these stories the characters are forced to conform
to societal norms and because of this they evolve into people that they otherwise wouldn t be. They
don t get to experience things that normal people would get to. Their lives revolve around the people
that are influencing them. At the end of their stories they make the changes necessary to live life based
on what they want and not what other people want them to be. Fear controls the characters decisions
in both The Handmaid s Tale and East of Eden.

Donald Trump Is Not Short On Controversy And Criticism
Donald Trump

Introduction
Donald John Trump is not short on controversy and criticism when it comes to his outspoken persona
and views on certain issues. Hence the reasons why I chose to write about Donald Trump. However, to
give credit Trump had success of developing businesses such as real estate. A spotlight has been
hovering over him for the majority of his years because of his status among society. With his notoriety
in his show The Apprentice , he became not only a businessman, but also a celebrity through
television. Trump indeed has influences in the entertainment, business and political world which
makes him a solid candidate for the 2016 presidential run. His charisma and his ambitious, yet
controversial personality is what drove me to choose to write about him.
The most significant curiosity that I have, however, is whether a businessman and essentially a
celebrity can possibly become president. He already has a large following because of his celebrity
notoriety and has influential partners to back him during his campaign. So the momentum that he has
going into this presidential election is increasingly become rapid. His celebrity status and his long
listed resume of creating businesses, undoubtedly brings political and public attention to his

Margaret Fuller Influences
Where I make an impression it must be by being most myself. Margaret Fuller to her editor John
Wiley, 1846. Margaret Fuller wanted her thoughts and opinions to be what remained of her, though
many commented on her as a person than her as a literary critic and author. Fuller was thought to be a
lot of firsts the first feminist, the first woman transcendentalist, the first radical women thinker of our
time and so on and so on. Even though her works were censored and altered, she had many influences
including her father, life experiences, and other authors. In the first place, Fuller s early years put her
in position for what her life later on would offer her. The Fuller family was known for nobility and
intelligence and Margaret would be no exception. Her father, Timothy Fuller, taught her to read and
write by the time she was three and a half. Margaret was put through a rigorous regimen of boys
schooling, she was never a loud to pick up reading material of the feminine type. She later learned
Latin and began translating some simple works of Virgil. Through her father s harsh schooling she
never became the feminine girl her mother wanted. Fuller realized she would never be like the other
girls. She blamed her father for troubles she experienced later in life. She wrote a cryptic note at the
age of ten which read, On 23 May 1810, was born one foredoomed to sorrow and pain, and like others

The Gas Leak Tragedy Of Bhopal
The Gas Leak Tragedy of Bhopal, India is considered the worst industrial disaster in history.
Originally, the Bhopal pesticide plants were to be some of the best and most beautiful plants which
would have huge production capabilities. However, in 1984 there was a massive leak of methyl
isocyanate (MIC) which spread out to local communities and has negatively affected the health of
hundreds of thousands of people. The reason why the pesticide plant was created was for the Green
Revolution in the 1960 s. Traditional farming methods in India were changing to high yield seed
varieties which needed more fertilizers and pesticides (Eckerman, 2005), to meet the increasing food
demand. Pesticide production was originally sourced in Europe, however because of new knowledge
and protests from environmental activists, it became restricted. (Eckerman, 2005, pg. 24).
Consequently, pesticide production was outsourced to India because of fewer regulations and cheaper
labor (Kovel, 2002). The pesticide that the Bhopal plants created was Carbaryl, and this pesticide
serves as a neurotoxin that controls pests such as moths, beetles, ants, mosquitoes, ticks and
cockroaches (National Pesticide Information Center, 2003). The chemicals inside the pesticide are a
Cholinesterase Inhibitor, which inhibits the cholinesterase enzyme from degrading acetylcholin,
eventually leading to interference in the host s nervous system (Gilbert, 2014, ¶ 3).
Although the plants were used to create

Existence After Physical Death Considered
Existence After Physical Death Considered To address the question, Is human survival of a physical
death an intelligible or defensible theory? in the affirmative, requires postulating that:
1) The definition of human includes the characteristic of a unique soul or spirit associated with each
physical human body and,
2) Miracles, events unexplained by men s physical and natural laws, can occur and,
3) A substance dualist philosophy that the body including the brain is physical matter but the mind
containing our knowledge, memories, and thoughts is not physical matter and unique to each
individual.
Thus it is possible that the soul/spirit, absent the physical matter of the body, could retain its spiritual
existence via a miracle and absent the physical body, after death.
Let us examine each of these premises. The human spirit is defined as 1: the immaterial essence,
animating principle, or actuating cause of an individual life, 2: a supernatural being or essence, soul
(Merriam Webster). Allowing the belief that human beings have unique spirits that are immaterial,
survival of physical (material) death is both defensible and intelligible. The human spirit encompass
thoughts, emotions, memories, etc. all immaterial entities which govern the way human beings exist,
in this life and perhaps the afterlife.
In my previous paper (Thompson, On Miracles), I postulated that, since a miracle is an unexplainable
event, according to man s understanding of his world, it

25 Essential Habits
25 Essential Habits that Parents must Teach their Kids
Every parent wants the best for their children. They want the children to grow and become the best
version of themselves. But, all this starts with the habits you teach them. Encouraging your child to
behave in a certain way again and again, helps to make it a habit of the child. So, it is important to
start early and instill these good habits in your children which they will carry with them throughout
their lives.
Healthy Lifestyle: This is the first thing the parents much encourage their children to follow. This can
start as soon as you wean your baby from breastfeeding by starting with vegetable purees, avoiding
introducing children to extra sugar and fried food and sticking to healthier alternatives. Starting early
will not only acquaint baby s taste buds to healthy food but will also make it a ... Show more content

But it is important to teach them the value of learning and education. It is important to make them
realize how valuable education is to become a successful and responsible human being.
Table Manners: Having bad table manners are insulting not just for people around but also for the food
that has been prepared and offered to them. When the child knows table manners, they minimize their
chance of offending and maximizes the chance of impressing in social situations. This starts as early
as 6 months when children are made to sit on the high chair. As they sit on the high chair and see
people around them eating on a plate with a spoon, they will also pick up similar habits. This will also
discipline them and avoid them being turned into fussy eaters.
Being Polite: Basic things such as being respectful towards other and importance of the words thank
you, please, and sorry should be taught to kids from the beginning. Not only are these a mark of good
upbringing but also earns the child love and respect from those around

The Effects Of Poverty On Indigenous People
Without land and control of their assets, Indigenous Peoples are destined to remain the world s poorest
communities with the worst health, highest mortality rate and shortest life span ( The Indigenous
Movement ). The Indigenous Peoples Movement works to acquire legal protection and works to raise
awareness towards the indigenous peoples causes globally. Indigenous peoples are generally defined
as individuals who belong to a highly conservative, culturally and linguistically different non
dominant social group, distinct from the modernly dominant society hoping to maintain that
separation with the superior culture. In addition, their cultures and traditional practices have been

These three factors, chronologically, are catalyzed in a domino effect commonly experienced by
indigenous peoples, thus being responsible for the high suicide rates. Statistical evidence for Latin
America indicates more than 80 percent of the region s indigenous peoples are still living in abject
poverty, a trend that has changed little since the early 1990s ( Latin America ). Because of the rising
poverty states, among the indigenous communities, a portion of the indigenous have resorted to
violent crimes. Opponents against helping indigenous peoples believe that the activities of the
indigenous risk the safety of the dominant societies, and thus should not be helped provoking thoughts
derived from observing the rising number of aboriginal peoples incarcerated in Australia over the
years: an exponential growth rate for indigenous incarceration has flooded the prisons with a
numerable quantity of indigenous peoples . It is understandable that one would conclude such an
alleged claim only by seeing the statistical facts, but without further investigation of the causes for
incarceration, many crucial details are absent that turn the tides of the argument towards an advocacy
for legislative and judicial systems to intrude and elicit repairs for legal complexities associated with
indigenous peoples. Procuring legislative support could decrease the numbers of poverty struck
indigenous communities and effect an ameliorable change in their social standing, thus projecting a
more respectful and less hostile view by the dominant

St. Vincent Narrative
Growing up in suburbia, I struggled to find my place as a first generation American. I did not
appreciate being called African American because it is an inaccurate way of describing my heritage,
but I felt pushy and pretentious if I told people to call me Caribbean American. My dad s family still
lives in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and we visit them every few years, so I had to confront
these issues during my family s last trip to St. Vincent. I liked the idea of living in St. Vincent because
of the entertaining stories that my cousins and aunts told me about the island. It had been so long since
my previous trip to St. Vincent, so I had idealized and unrealistic expectations of what St. Vincent was
like. My aunt had told me that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To begin with, I am afraid of falling off the side of a mountain. Even if the edge is over 100 feet away,
I can still picture myself tripping and accidentally going over the edge. Because of this fear, I
absolutely did not want to go on the hike. I pouted, whined, and did everything I could to resist the
adventure. The hike aside, the car ride to the base of the volcano is terrifying enough because of the
twisty, mountainous roads in addition to left hand side driving. And why was no else concerned that
the volcano might erupt while we were on it? Unfortunately for me (at the time), my family and I
made it to the starting point of the trail. I trudged up the volcano, trailing behind the rest of my family,
and after two terrifying and exhausting hours, we made it to the summit. It was breathtaking. We were
literally in the clouds, we could see Saint Lucia in the distance, and seeing the steam rolling off the
bottom of the crater was unexpectedly exhilarating. I could never have imagined what a volcano

Team Reflection Paper
Introduction When I was a freshman in high school, I had one of my worst group experiences within
my entire educational career. I was assigned a project in my World History course and was assigned to
a group with one of my best friends and two boys who were known for their lack of goals in school. I
wouldn t call this a team project because, due to the situation, it s obvious that we were not a team. It
was clear to my friend and I that this was going to be a tough process because we knew the history
that these two boys had with contributing to the work needed by each teammate. Both boys were well
known to the teachers as well because they were two of the high school s biggest troublemakers. One
would assume the situation could have been helped, but that is not that case. We began our project and
noticed that the boys preferred to talk about things that did not matter to the assignment and not to
begin working on their half of the project. In an attempt to bring their attention back to the task at
hand, we tried many things over one class period. First, we tried multiple times, just telling the boys
that we needed to get our work done, which failed every time and resulted in arguments. Then, we
decided to tell our teacher that we felt the boys were not willing to participate and were worried that
their disregard for the class and our team s goals would affect our individual grades for the project.
Instead of addressing the boys, our teacher decided that we would need to

Iroquoans In American Literature
Native Americans played an important role in American Literature. American writing s foundation is
due to the oral traditions of the Native Americans. Stories were told to youth about cultural beliefs
through various tribes. In the story the Earth on a Turtle s Back , the Onondaga show great respect for
the natural world. Form the Navajo Origin Legend shows how the Navajo worshipped the
supernatural. In The Iroquois Constitution , demonstrates how the Iroquois practiced customs. This
paper will explore how the Native American oral traditions are expressed by natural landmarks and its
significance, spiritual beliefs, and examples of ceremonial rites.
Native Americans have a deep respect for nature. The Onondaga tribe learned ways to work together
by observing the animals. In the story The earth on a Turtle s Back , the animals sacrificed their lives
in effort to save the Ancient Chief of the Skyland s wife. To do so, they retrieved soil by swimming
deep down in the water. When the soil was finally retrieved, the animals placed the tiny bit of soil on
the turtle s back, where the earth could grow for the woman to live on. In When the Grizzlies Walked

Erich Fromm Escape From Freedom Analysis
Release From The Chains of Own Captivity The chains of captivity are the decisions that clash with
our own freedom and keep people captive with no way out. There are cases that need to be
understanded to be able to obtain freedom and be released from captivity from themselves or an
outside authority which philosopher Erich Fromm explains. Erich Fromm was a Jewish German social
psychologist and philosopher, and also a writer notable for his social and political commentary as for
his philosophical and psychological underpinnings. In Escape from Freedom one of his important
work, Fromm uses the insights of psychoanalysis to analyze the illness of a concurrent civilization as
witnessing its willingness to give up their freedom. According to his book, man cannot live with the
responsibilities inherent by freedom so humanity will probably turn to a greater power or authority to
lessen the constraint. Fromm distinguishes the difference between positive freedom and negative
freedom. His philosophy focuses positive freedom being a possession of the capacity to act upon one s
free will, as opposed to negative freedom where freedom is interfered by other people or a institution.
To confirm Fromm s philosophy there are modern societies that have willingly given up their own
freedom to be able to follow and be blinded by the words promised to a whole society by a higher
authority. To understand why people would willingly give their freedom first there needs to be

Diverse Role Of Questioning And Dialogic Work In Mathematics
The use of questioning and paired work in Mathematics Traditionally, mathematics and language
based subjects have been seen as occurring on opposite sides of a great divide. However, in recent
years teachers have realised the importance of talk across the curriculum including mathematics. This
is supported by the DfEE (1999a, p11) who state that high quality interactive teaching is oral,
interactive and lively. It is a two way process in which pupils are expected to play an interactive role
by answering questions, contributing points to discussions, and explaining and demonstrating their
methods to the class. The recent Cambridge review reinforced the message that teachers ... Show more

How Is Miss Emily Grierson A Dynamic Character
Upon reading William Faulkner s A Rose for Emily, one discovers several colorful characters,
including one Miss Emily Grierson of Jefferson, Mississippi. Readers uncover her quirks and specific
character traits as seen through the eyes of the townspeople who are highly interested in the goings on
in her life. Miss Emily Grierson is a round yet static protagonist who is lonely, unyielding to change,
and overcome by her unfortunate life circumstances, and as such she should not be considered a mad
woman as many readers might accuse her of being.
Miss Emily lived her life almost throughout on display before the town of Jefferson and ultimately
this resulted in her lack of socialization and human interaction. The fault in this matter lies with her
father, the respected mayor of Jefferson, who protected her and kept her under thumb, driving away
every suitor that came to call. People came to picture poor Miss Emily as a slender figure in white in
the background, her father a spraddled silhouette in the foreground, his back to her and clutching a
horsewhip, the two of them framed by the back flung front door (Faulkner 35). In this visualization,
her father clearly stood between her and the real world as a threatening and domineering figure. One
might believe that such a prominent figure would interact with the public on a daily basis in a positive
manner, but it appears that the Grierson status only encouraged the prying eyes of the townspeople to
impede on Miss Emily s

However, there are some creative ways you can create a headboard for the existing bed. With a few
standard items, like cardboard and fabric, you can create a temporary headboard that will help make
your dorm room feel more luxurious and homey. In reality, designs like this one take very little artistic
ability and are easy and quick to complete. Soften the Floors Most dorms have wooden or concrete
floors. This is great because they don t stain and it is pretty easy to clean them. However, these floors
are also cold and unwelcoming. To soften them up some, think about investing in an area rug. These
rugs come in a variety of shapes, sizes and designs, which make them a perfect option for the small
floors that are associated with a dorm room. You can even go the extra mile and coordinate them with
all the other fantastic things you are adding to your room. Choose Bold Colors If your dorm doesn t
already have a desk and chair, you should consider going with a bold color choice. Since dorms are
normally pretty plain, having a great color desk or chair can help liven up the room some. You can
also add pops of color to the room by throwing some brightly colored pillows on your

very successful in Finland and these college students wanted to see if it would work in schools here in
the United States. The article only explained that they planned to implement this program and did not

among the sixth grade victims as well. Not only were significant improvements seen following the
study, but these improvements were seen to have long lasting effects six months after the completion
of the program. Results like this suggest that these children will possibly carry what they have learned
into future school environments and on to post school or career fields. The only down side I saw to

Rhetorical Devices In Ground Zero
In the essay Ground Zero by Suzanne Berne writes about her very personal experience visiting
Ground Zero the place where the twin towers stood prior to the tragedy of 9/11. She uses rhetorical
devices throughout her essay to make the piece feel incredibly intimate and emotional to the reader.
She specifically uses imagery, tone, simile, and metaphor to explain her experience to Ground Zero in
a deeper and meaningful way to her readers. Berne uses rhetorical devices in her essay Ground Zero to
let her readers feel the same emotions and imagine the same things she saw on her visit to make the
essay very intimate and realistic. In Ground Zero Berne uses many examples of imagery and
metaphors to paint a descriptive picture of her surroundings and what she saw to enhance her reader s
experience. She uses the imagery to make her readers feel as if they were there and make them feel the
same feelings of awareness, and sadness she did. Suzanne achieves this by recalling back to the horrid
memories of 9/ll when the skyscraper shrouded in black plastic, the boarded windows, the steel
skeleton of the shattered Winter Garden. (Berne 176), By using these extremely explicit and
descriptive details Suzanne allows her readers to experience the rude awakening she had when she
saw nothing in Ground Zero, but was able to recall the chaos that went on that day. Suzanne lets her
readers understand what was going on in her mind , and clearly experience what she was feeling that

They are going out to schools in the west with a program called Back to School telling students the
truth about abortion using graphic real images on abortion. The point of this program is to let the
students know that abortion is a horrible thing to do and help them understand that a child is being
killed in this process. The reason that Operation Rescue is targeting students of this age is because
statistics from the Center for Disease Control show that 60% of all abortions are done on women ages
15 to 24. Operation Rescue is using this opportunity to educate the students especially the young
women before they get pregnant and before they make an appointment for an abortion. There is one
problem with this program and that is, people that have volunteered their time to educate the students
can not actually go into the classrooms and talk to the students. They must stay on the sidewalk
outside of the schools so that they are protected by the first amendment. In that lies the problem,
students of that age do not want to listen to anyone else tell them what they should or should not do so
they most, often will choose to ignore what the person has to say.
I strongly support the Sidewalk Counseling solution. Operation Rescue is another supporter of
Sidewalk Counseling as well as other pro life activist. This is where volunteers that are educated stand
out side of the abortion clinics and hospitals. They feel it is the last chance they have to convince the

married the man she loved, became the first black woman to be the First Lady of the United States,
improved civil rights for people of color, and changed the face of feminism; these are some, but most

It s also worth mentioning that Cisco s own website is very informative, with detailed financial and
organizational structure. Strategic Overview From the case study delivered during class (Indu, 2010) it
is clear that Cisco s goal was to increase market share and maintain a sustained growth. Added to this
continued improvement to customer and supplier relations. The company s current mission statement
states that; Cisco s mission is to shape the future of the Internet by creating unprecedented value and
opportunity for our customers, employees, investors, and ecosystem partners. (Cisco.com) With a
strong customer focus at the core of their business, another strategy employed by Cisco is to position
themselves close to not only the customer but suppliers too. This closeness and strength of supplier
relations allows Cisco to respond quickly to changing customer and in fact market demands and
trends. One of the strategic applications to enable growth and innovation was the use of acquisitions.
From 1993 to present day Cisco has acquired over 150 companies in a wide range of Information

Workers Comp Insurance Case Study
4 Situations Where You Could Not Collect Workers Comp
The purpose of workers comp is to give financial protection to employees that become injured while
working for their employer. Unfortunately, not all employees are eligible to receive workers comp. Be
aware of these situations where you would not receive benefits.
When An Employer Does Not Have Workers Comp Insurance
Some employers are not required to purchase workers comp insurance. This is because each state has
their own laws concerning which businesses must purchase the insurance.
For instance, in the state of New York, a small partnership owned by one or two people doesn t need to
purchase workers comp insurance. In North Carolina, a business is only required to have workers
comp insurance if there are at least 3 employees, and at least 10 employees if it is an agricultural ...

They have their own compensation act that will give an injured employee benefits, no matter where
the injury occurred, as long as they were performing a function of their job while receiving a federal
government paycheck. The compensation act also covers any occupational diseases that are sustained
over multiple days or shifts.
When You Are Employed As A Harbor or Longshore Worker
There are some occupations that also have their own compensation acts, such as those that are
employed as a longshore or harbor worker. This covers employees that are responsible for loading,
offloading, and securing ships, as well as ship builders. If injured on the job, the compensation act has
their own process for receiving benefits that would make you ineligible for workers comp.
Keep in mind that you may work in that job field, but still qualify for workers comp benefits. This
includes office workers that are not doing the manual labor.
If you have questions about a workers comp case, speak with a lawyer in your area for a

Traveling abroad this holidays? Or may be looking around for the most awaited business meet
overseas? Well, there s lot to do before heading off to your destination, one of the most important to
do items is to make sure your phone works internationally. After all, those phone calls, photo uploads,

Okay, so first thing first. Many phones are originally sold with a lock on its software, which means it

So, make sure your GSM phone is unlocked.
If you don t know if your phone is locked you can:

Use one of the many sites on the web where you can get your phone unlocked quickly for a few

unique 14 16 digit number that identifies your phone and follow few simple easy steps to get it
unlocked. Simply dial *#06# on your phone to check your IMEI. If a device is reported stolen, the

Abu Ghraib Prison Analysis
In 2008, Iraq Memory Foundation founder Kanan Makiya said in an interview with the Washington
Post, The U.S. has not committed atrocities in Iraq that are even remotely comparable to what Saddam
did. A prolific writer on Saddam Hussein s regime and an Iraqi himself, Makiya has written
extensively on the power of violence and fear in modern Iraq. This paper argues the enduring legacy
of violence within Iraq left by Saddam Hussein s regime, specifically referencing his human rights
abuses at Abu Ghraib prison. In an attempt to fully examine the rise and continuation of institutional
torture within Iraq, this paper will explore the building of Abu Ghraib prison in the late 1960s, and
subsequently examine Saddam Hussein s rise to power beginning with his joining of the Ba athist
party in 1956. Following the introductory historical background begins an examination of the effects
of, and responses to, Saddam s human rights abuses during his reign. The final portion of this paper
examines the U.S s use of torture within Iraq, and human rights violations following Saddam Hussein
execution in 2006, concluding with final remarks on the state of Abu Ghraib prison today and what it
represents for the future.

Mao Zedong Impact
In the 1960 s, China s government under Mao Zedong implemented a communist society by using a
set of objectives and policies known as the Cultural Revolution. Mao nationalized private businesses
disrupting the economic state of the people while enforcing his policies using a group of revolutionary
enforcers known as the Red Guard. Mao s focus on strict enforcement of these policies and his
nationalization of businesses dramatically and negatively altered the life of the Chinese citizens. From
1927 to 1949, during China s Civil War, the communists tried to seize control of China during a time
when the communists saw that the system put in by the Qing Dynasty was now outdated and
ineffective. ( China s Cultural Revolution Begins ) By taking ... Show more content on

One way that the Cultural Revolution, started by Mao Zedong, impacted China s economy was that
the Red Guard took out trained workers out of their current jobs in factories and other common and
necessary jobs the government instead put in untrained workers. Because intellectuals were seen as
enemies, revolutionary committees took over the running of Chinese enterprises. Made up of workers,
party members, and soldiers, these committees replaced trained administrators. Engineers and
technicians were dismissed, sent to camps, and sometimes tortured or killed ( China s Cultural
Revolution Begins ).The action of taking out and killing the professional and trained employees and
putting people in who were slowed the production of the goods, including food that affected the life of
the citizens dramatically. The untrained employees did not know how to use the machines to make the
products, leaving them behind and slowly producing what was needed of them for their goods.
Another way the Cultural Revolution impacted the economics of China was the people were left in
poverty for many years during and after the Cultural Revolution. After 1960, given the reality of
famine and a poorly performing economy more generally, the government simply stopped publishing
statistical data on economic performance (Perkins). The government was so embaressed from the

The Impacts of Housing Benefits on Pregnant Teenagers Abstract: UK Benefits System is responsible
for providing many deserving groups with financial and material support. As such we consider the
various factors that create beneficial opportunities for individuals. We delve into the specific case of
pregnant teenagers who make for a particularly deserving group with regards to their special
circumstances. Housing benefits are generally considered and their obvious socio economic impacts
are recognized. Public Services in most developed countries are targeted towards making lives
convenient and hence productive. It is safe to say that a comfortable and secure life promises to be a
socially and economically prolific life. With regard to this, the United Kingdom has successfully
structured a social security system that aims to manage government expenditure and efficient welfare
provision with respect to credible claimants. The UK Benefit System is concentrated towards a
number of deserving groups such as the unemployed, senior citizenry, disabled individuals,
chronically sick individuals or bereaved claimants. (Emmerson Leicester, 2002) The basic aim of this
endeavor is to make lives of British citizens contented enough to ensure a valid level of national
contribution and of course give back to the needy. Not only will this help them become more
illustrious people but will also go on to pull them out of the unforgiving vortex of vicious poverty.

The success of architects is defined not so much by the problems they face as the act of their creative
and practical responses. Located in once the bombarded Berlin, a new language of architecture
emerged. It appears with multiple contradictions, yet not confliction, from itself to the surroundings
and within its own construction. That is the Berlin Jewish Museum, submitted by the young Daniel
Libeskind in a competition to provoke the unsavory history of Berlin very soon after the fall of the
Berlin Wall in 1989. The Western tradition in building museum is twisted by its expressionistic form,

concrete are customized in tube like structures which slope variably to resist lateral loads stabilizing
the vertical elements. At some strategic locations with severely angled walls, pre stressed steel
reinforced concrete is an absolute option. Steel is used to bear compressive loads as well as tensile
loads. The vertical elements are tied together with beams and slabs which prevent them from cracking.
The monolithic appearance and the complication in opening positions and dimensions require a high
level of difficulty in pouring concrete, which make this museum become the first model project of its
kind to test the new concrete handling method. The challenge is to avoid segregation in pouring
concrete. Timing is the key. The exterior walls are molded with in situ concrete; the advantage it offers
is that the apertures can be made in any shape and size, width and height. It also allows a less amount
of columns used, and an expansion for larger, uninterrupted spaces. The extra strength the reinforced
concrete gives grants Libeskind the ability to make the concept practical.
Also, to maintain the integrity of the object, he eliminated conventional roof system, lightweight

The Witch s Hammer Summary
The Witch s Hammer, or The Malleus Maleficarum, was first published in 1487 in Germany. In
German language it is called the Hexenhammer. It served as a guidebook for Inquisitors during
Inquisition. With the help of this book they were able to identify and prosecute the Witches. It was
written by the Dominican monks Heinrich Kramer and presumably also James Sprenger, who
assembled many fairy tales and magic stories, nightmares, hearsay, confessions and accusations and

  • 2. Questions On Demand And Demand QUESTION 1 Explain, with the use of demand and supply diagram(s), the difference between a change in quantity demanded of hats and a change in demand for hats. The difference between a change in Quantity demand and demand for hats are explained below: Change in Quantity Demand: The movement alongside a demand curve because of the only factor that is price. For example: If the price of Hat is $5 people will buy 20 hats, if the price of hats increased by 10% people will buy less hats. (Figure in hard copy) Change in Demand: The movement of Demand curve because of other factor not by the price i.e. buyers, tastes, income and expectations of buyers, preferences. (Figure in hard copy) So, the difference between Change in demand cure and change is demand Change In quantity demand is related with the change of price whereas change in demand is not about the price it is about other factor Such as: buyers, tastes, income and expectations of buyers, preferences. Male Dishonor as Guilt and Shame in The Rape of Lucrece Inasmuch as a woman s virginity or chastity is imagined as an object that can be owned, rape becomes a property crime, consisting in the theft of a woman s virtue from its rightful owner, her male guardian. Bernice Harris articulates this view with respect to Titus Andronicus: The definition of the word is based on ownership: rape is an appropriate term only if what is taken is not rightfully owned (388). The man who can claim ownership of a woman is subsequently dishonored when she is violated: Honour, then, is a function of ownership (389). While it is tempting to see the Shakespearean concept of rape entirely in such terms, such a view is not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By contrast, the pagan humanist tradition, with its pantheon of capricious and often morally suspect gods, upheld a highly public ideal of honor, whereby behavior could be regulated. Whereas guilt can be either private or public, shame is necessarily a public affair. Guilt, as much a theological as ethical construct, requires appropriate punishment, but shame requires simply appropriate action to eliminate its source. Without dwelling on these distinctions, however, Williams argues that in the early modern period these contradictory sets of values operated simultaneously, and it is this tension that informs the often contradictory treatment of rape in such texts as Titus Andronicus and Lucrece. In The Rape of Lucrece this tension is worked out in the portrayals of the two primary male characters. The text is overtly concerned with the question of male honor, and the damage done to it by the act of rape. Contradictory to the predictions of the rape=theft equation, however, it is not only Collatine, the injured husband, who is depicted as dishonored by the crime. Rather than as a conquering hero, the rapist Tarquin is himself depicted as dishonored by his crime. The different forms of dishonor incurred by the two men, I will argue, result from the judgments ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Ultimately, by looking at this small aspect of the war in Vietnam, one can gain a much deeper understanding of the unique and complex individuals involved. In this chapter, Glasser s goal seems to be two fold: 1) to shed light on the physical sacrifices and acts of bravery committed by medics and 2) to illustrate the unique psychological effects of the war on army medics. More specifically, Glasser makes the argument that medics were motivated to risk their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He explains that the psychological effect of the war on medics (as is evident from these stories) was so substantial, that they army reduced their required term of service from 12 to 7 months. Completely consumed by their roles as protectors and saviors, medics often limited their own food so that they could carry more medical supplies. They stole extra plasma to bring into battle and even asked their family members to send them additional medical supplies. In truth, the sacrificial behavior of medics was so predictable that the Viet Cong intentionally wounded (rather than killed) American soldiers in an attempt to lure nearby medics into the line of fire. Ultimately, this chapter is extremely significant because it provides added nuance to the reader s understanding of the war and tells stories of bravery and sacrifice that might have otherwise been forever lost to history. Although the soldiers of Vietnam tend to be portrayed as poorly trained and unruly, Glasser exposes this mistaken generalization in his treatment of army medics. Thus, the reader is granted an intimate glimpse into an aspect of the Vietnam War that is rarely discussed in history courses or popular discourse. In this respect, chapter 3 offers the best contribution to Glasser s overall goal of preserving the memories of those who served in Vietnam, a war which is all to often over generalized or ignored ... • 5. The Handmaid s Tale By Margaret Atwood Dystopian Research Essay: The Handmaid s Tale by Margaret Atwood In the words of Erika Gottlieb With control of the past comes domination of the future. A dystopia reflects and discusses major tendencies in contemporary society. The Handmaid s Tale is a dystopian novel written by Margaret Atwood in 1985. The novel follows its protagonist Offred as she lives in a society focused on physical and spiritual oppression of the female identity. Within The Handmaid s Tale it is evident that through the exploration of free will and femininity, the dystopian novel presents an understanding that the future is determined by the actions taken in the past and the present. These actions are closely related to the novel s context and the characteristics that are present in the dystopian genre. An understanding that the future is brought into existence by the past is shown through the exploration of free will. Firstly The Handmaid s Tale reflects Atwood s historical context where the feminist movements of the 1970s and 1980s proceeded with great triumphs for women in the fields of politics, media and private households. This is reflected in Offred s society before the implementation of its current regime where all these progresses have been undone and the women in Gilead are forbidden to vote, read and write. The society focuses on physical and spiritual oppression, manipulating the media and controlling the citizen s thoughts as a mandatory governing mechanism, a common dystopian ... A Good Credit Profile Can Improve Your Credit Score Essay For some, there are just goods that they consider absolutely essential to their existence, often to the point of spending every cent just to have these. In turn, they rely on loans, and survive from paycheck to paycheck. But living on credit will then lead to a lifetime of hardship to pay off all their loans. If worse comes to worst, some may even default on these loans. But don t blame the loans. In fact, a good credit profile can improve your credit score. Before applying for a loan, you must first learn all about loans. That is the first component in good personal money management. And during this time, when we are all being hit hard by the worldwide financial crisis, we all need to be astute when it comes to handling money. Here s the scoop on loans. Basically, loans are quantities of money that you borrow from a lender, which can be repaid over a set period of time with the inclusion of interest. Interest is a percentage of the loan which the bank earns in return extending credit to the borrower. Loans can be secured, or where the borrower stakes a piece of his property to acquire the loan, also known as a collateral; or unsecured, where no collateral or tangible asset is pledged. One particular example of loan that many need to learn more about are bad credit loans. Distribution Of Minimum Spanning Trees Distributed Verification of Minimum Spanning Trees Authors: Amos Korman, Shay Kutten Problem Statement: A graph and a tree is given as input in a distributed manner and the algorithm is should be able to verifiy if the tree is a Minimum Spanning Tree (MST). Detailed Explanation of the Problem Statement Definitions Spanning tree: A spanning tree of an undirected graph is a subgraph which is a tree and includes all the vertices of G. Minimum Spanning Tree (MST) : A spanning tree of a graph whose weight (sum of weight of its edges) is less than or equal to the weight of all other spanning trees of the graph. Verification of a Spanning Tree: A graph and a tree is given as input and the algorithm should check if the tree is an MST for the graph. In distributed verification of Minimum Spanning Trees, the input is provided in a distributed manner which means that each node of the graph knows which of its edges belong to the tree. A node does not have any knowledge of the edges which do not emanate from it. The verification algorithm should label the vertices of the graph so that every node, given its own label and the labels of its neighbours only is able to detect if these edges are MST edges or not and whether the input tree is an MST. Motivation The motivation for working on verification algorithms is that verification is easier than computation. In a distributed setting verification is even more important because the tree is given in a distributed manner and computing such a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Disadvantages And Disadvantages Of Anodized Cookware Anodizing is an industrial process applied to metals to make them harder and more resistant to corrosion. Metals gradually degrade when in contact with moisture and when exposed to air, a process known as oxidation. They form an oxide layer which is softer than the metal and can easily be peeled away either mechanically, like when it rusts, or chemically, such as when it combines with other substances such as strong acids and bases. Anodization takes advantage of this process by treating the oxidized surface of the metal with electric current forming a hard surface that is resistant to manual or chemical corrosion. A CVC is a thin flexible catheter that is inserted into a large vein near the heart in either the arm or the chest. (Web MD, 2016) This central line is used to provide medication, fluids, nutrients, or blood products over a long period of time. This is generally used for patients who have chemotherapy, frequent blood draws, need additional nutritional support, or have kidney failure. (ATS, 2015) There are several considerations to keep in mind when a CVC is being administered such as understanding why a CVC is being placed, safety guidelines, teaching considerations, and ways to care for the CVC. Reasons for needing a CVC There are several reasons why a CVC may be placed depending on each patient s condition. It is important for each patient to understand the reason for having a central line inserted; some reasons may include: I.V. medications for a long period of time, large amounts of fluid, several blood draws, additional nutrition, or kidney failure. When administering medication over a long period of time it can be irritating to the vein so a central line is placed so that it is easily tolerated; especially for chemotherapy medications. When administering fluids through a larger vein it is less irritating to the vein and it is easier to manage fluid intake. Patients can often have several blood draws daily in order to run tests to make sure that the treatment and body function is maintaining; so it is ideal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In Florida, though the heat and humidity is almost unbearable. It makes you want to immediately jump into the ocean to try a cool off under the hot sun. Unfortunately, with the sun beating down on the ocean and the humidity in the air trapping all of the heat, the ocean also heats up very quickly and it becomes more like a hot tub, which is not the most relaxing of choice in the middle of a warm, summer day. With all of the humidity in Florida, it is also very common for a sudden downpour to erupt and leave you soaking wet like you have been in the ocean all day. Despite these flaws in the perfect, tropical weather you expect, when you do get a nice day in Florida, it makes you wish the day would never end and that you would never have to leave. Originally, the Bhopal pesticide plants were to be some of the best and most beautiful plants which would have huge production capabilities. However, in 1984 there was a massive leak of methyl isocyanate (MIC) which spread out to local communities and has negatively affected the health of hundreds of thousands of people. The reason why the pesticide plant was created was for the Green Revolution in the 1960 s. Traditional farming methods in India were changing to high yield seed varieties which needed more fertilizers and pesticides (Eckerman, 2005), to meet the increasing food demand. Pesticide production was originally sourced in Europe, however because of new knowledge and protests from environmental activists, it became restricted. (Eckerman, 2005, pg. 24). Consequently, pesticide production was outsourced to India because of fewer regulations and cheaper labor (Kovel, 2002). The pesticide that the Bhopal plants created was Carbaryl, and this pesticide serves as a neurotoxin that controls pests such as moths, beetles, ants, mosquitoes, ticks and cockroaches (National Pesticide Information Center, 2003). Existence After Physical Death Considered Existence After Physical Death Considered To address the question, Is human survival of a physical death an intelligible or defensible theory? in the affirmative, requires postulating that: 1) The definition of human includes the characteristic of a unique soul or spirit associated with each physical human body and, 2) Miracles, events unexplained by men s physical and natural laws, can occur and, 3) A substance dualist philosophy that the body including the brain is physical matter but the mind containing our knowledge, memories, and thoughts is not physical matter and unique to each individual. Thus it is possible that the soul/spirit, absent the physical matter of the body, could retain its spiritual existence via a miracle and absent the physical body, after death. Let us examine each of these premises. The human spirit is defined as 1: the immaterial essence, animating principle, or actuating cause of an individual life, 2: a supernatural being or essence, soul (Merriam Webster). Allowing the belief that human beings have unique spirits that are immaterial, survival of physical (material) death is both defensible and intelligible. The human spirit encompass thoughts, emotions, memories, etc. all immaterial entities which govern the way human beings exist, in this life and perhaps the afterlife. The Effects Of Poverty On Indigenous People Without land and control of their assets, Indigenous Peoples are destined to remain the world s poorest communities with the worst health, highest mortality rate and shortest life span ( The Indigenous Movement ). The Indigenous Peoples Movement works to acquire legal protection and works to raise awareness towards the indigenous peoples causes globally. Statistical evidence for Latin America indicates more than 80 percent of the region s indigenous peoples are still living in abject poverty, a trend that has changed little since the early 1990s ( Latin America ). Because of the rising poverty states, among the indigenous communities, a portion of the indigenous have resorted to violent crimes. Opponents against helping indigenous peoples believe that the activities of the indigenous risk the safety of the dominant societies, and thus should not be helped provoking thoughts derived from observing the rising number of aboriginal peoples incarcerated in Australia over the years: an exponential growth rate for indigenous incarceration has flooded the prisons with a numerable quantity of indigenous peoples . It is understandable that one would conclude such an alleged claim only by seeing the statistical facts, but without further investigation of the causes for incarceration, many crucial details are absent that turn the tides of the argument towards an advocacy for legislative and judicial systems to intrude and elicit repairs for legal complexities associated with indigenous peoples. Procuring legislative support could decrease the numbers of poverty struck indigenous communities and effect an ameliorable change in their social standing, thus projecting a more respectful and less hostile view by the dominant ... I did not appreciate being called African American because it is an inaccurate way of describing my heritage, but I felt pushy and pretentious if I told people to call me Caribbean American. My dad s family still lives in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and we visit them every few years, so I had to confront these issues during my family s last trip to St. Vincent. The hike aside, the car ride to the base of the volcano is terrifying enough because of the twisty, mountainous roads in addition to left hand side driving. And why was no else concerned that the volcano might erupt while we were on it? Unfortunately for me (at the time), my family and I made it to the starting point of the trail. I trudged up the volcano, trailing behind the rest of my family, and after two terrifying and exhausting hours, we made it to the summit. It was breathtaking. We were literally in the clouds, we could see Saint Lucia in the distance, and seeing the steam rolling off the bottom of the crater was unexpectedly exhilarating. • 28. Team Reflection Paper Introduction When I was a freshman in high school, I had one of my worst group experiences within my entire educational career. I was assigned a project in my World History course and was assigned to a group with one of my best friends and two boys who were known for their lack of goals in school. I wouldn t call this a team project because, due to the situation, it s obvious that we were not a team. It was clear to my friend and I that this was going to be a tough process because we knew the history that these two boys had with contributing to the work needed by each teammate. Both boys were well known to the teachers as well because they were two of the high school s biggest troublemakers. One would assume the situation could have been helped, but that is not that case. We began our project and noticed that the boys preferred to talk about things that did not matter to the assignment and not to begin working on their half of the project. In an attempt to bring their attention back to the task at hand, we tried many things over one class period. First, we tried multiple times, just telling the boys that we needed to get our work done, which failed every time and resulted in arguments. Then, we decided to tell our teacher that we felt the boys were not willing to participate and were worried that their disregard for the class and our team s goals would affect our individual grades for the project. Erich Fromm Escape From Freedom Analysis Release From The Chains of Own Captivity The chains of captivity are the decisions that clash with our own freedom and keep people captive with no way out. There are cases that need to be understanded to be able to obtain freedom and be released from captivity from themselves or an outside authority which philosopher Erich Fromm explains. Erich Fromm was a Jewish German social psychologist and philosopher, and also a writer notable for his social and political commentary as for his philosophical and psychological underpinnings. In Escape from Freedom one of his important work, Fromm uses the insights of psychoanalysis to analyze the illness of a concurrent civilization as witnessing its willingness to give up their freedom. According to his book, man cannot live with the responsibilities inherent by freedom so humanity will probably turn to a greater power or authority to lessen the constraint. Fromm distinguishes the difference between positive freedom and negative freedom. His philosophy focuses positive freedom being a possession of the capacity to act upon one s free will, as opposed to negative freedom where freedom is interfered by other people or a institution. To confirm Fromm s philosophy there are modern societies that have willingly given up their own freedom to be able to follow and be blinded by the words promised to a whole society by a higher authority. To understand why people would willingly give their freedom first there needs to be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How Is Miss Emily Grierson A Dynamic Character Upon reading William Faulkner s A Rose for Emily, one discovers several colorful characters, including one Miss Emily Grierson of Jefferson, Mississippi. Readers uncover her quirks and specific character traits as seen through the eyes of the townspeople who are highly interested in the goings on in her life. Miss Emily Grierson is a round yet static protagonist who is lonely, unyielding to change, and overcome by her unfortunate life circumstances, and as such she should not be considered a mad woman as many readers might accuse her of being. Miss Emily lived her life almost throughout on display before the town of Jefferson and ultimately this resulted in her lack of socialization and human interaction. The fault in this matter lies with her father, the respected mayor of Jefferson, who protected her and kept her under thumb, driving away every suitor that came to call. People came to picture poor Miss Emily as a slender figure in white in the background, her father a spraddled silhouette in the foreground, his back to her and clutching a horsewhip, the two of them framed by the back flung front door (Faulkner 35). In this visualization, her father clearly stood between her and the real world as a threatening and domineering figure. The reason that Operation Rescue is targeting students of this age is because statistics from the Center for Disease Control show that 60% of all abortions are done on women ages 15 to 24. Operation Rescue is using this opportunity to educate the students especially the young women before they get pregnant and before they make an appointment for an abortion. There is one problem with this program and that is, people that have volunteered their time to educate the students can not actually go into the classrooms and talk to the students.
