shared purpose have created transformational change. Charles Tilly defines social movements as a

civil rights and the LGBTQ movement. Similar forces are transforming businesses, military affairs
and religion. SMOs have become an important part of society because these movements provide a

The purpose of this paper is twofold: 1) to better understand the potential connection between the old

For this observation, I went to the American Art section on the first floor of the Philadelphia Museum
of Art. When you first walk into the exhibition you see a bunch of glass showcases and to the right
was a whole hallway and section designated to Thomas Eakins. The Thomas Eakins section is rather
large so I ventured there first. All of his pieces are so well done and lifelike. Although, there was so

indentured servants that became freemen resulted in the development of a system of African
descended chattel slavery in the Chesapeake, a system whose creation and continuance was aided by a
continuum of racial thinking and racial prejudice aimed at Africans in Virginia.
From the outset, the issue of labor in the Chesapeake was a dominant force in the creation of colonial
society. The origins of colonial labor rested on the shoulders of indentured servants, often unemployed
laborers from England sent to the colony by the Virginia Company. After serving a term of seven
years, each servant was then entitled to freedom and the opportunity to work in the colony to best

The sun beats down on the land of Mesa Verde causing it to be a very hot and dry place, especially
when it is not monsoon season. Mesa Verde is comprised of many extensive cuestas which are made
of huge boulders and covered by a variety of trees, shrubs, and bushes. This environment provides a
home to many different species that stay in this national park, for example birds, rabbits, insects, etc.
During the morning at Mesa Verde, the pinyon jay and the Steller jay perch on the branches of the
Colorado pinyon pine or Utah juniper that are found all throughout the woodlands. They sit there
motionless, waiting and watching for little insects to wake up and start moving around on the ground.
The famished birds are ready to glide down at any moment from the branch and devour food. As the
