From the death and beyond and back Egyptian belief of afterlife
In the year 1999, one of my favorite childhood movie, the mummy, came out, and it was a
blockbuster. Modern archeologist and society have always been attracted by Egyptian culture. Not
considering the impact of Egyptian empire culture in history, people are interest about Egyptian
culture because of the magnificent pyramid and mysterious mummies. From the view of people today,
these archeological discovery are for amusement, but for the ancient Egyptians these are what they
live for. The belief in an afterlife is one the most influential religious forces within Egyptian society.
The afterlife contributed to Egyptian s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Egyptian are not obsess with death. Instead, they are living for life, an eternal life with god. This is
shown by the inscription on Abydos stela. The singer Tjeni aa, he says, how well established you are
in your place of eternity,...whom he wished to sing for his Ka every day. To be with god, self
righteousness is established deep down each Egyptians heart. Without this belief, none of the

My Experience At The Dining Lab At Monroe College
Based on the information that is required for this paper, I would be writing about my Front of the
House experience here at The Dining Lab at Monroe College. The three challenges that I would be
writing about would be about option number 1, working within the dining room environment. With
that being said, the three challenger that I choose to write about when it comes to the Front of the
House Operations are:
1. Steps of Service
2. Team work or Lack thereof
3. Mentally
According to Hayes (2013), Steps of Service is the order of tasks a Server needs to follow and
accomplish to deliver the Dining Experience .
Examples of Standards of Service (Hayes, HP225 Dining Room Management Syllabus, 2013):
1) Serve from the left
2) Clear from the right
3) All drinks are served from the right side with the right hand
4) All drinks are carried to and from the table on a tray
5) The use of seat numbers
6) The coffee cup is served from the right, on the right, with the handle at a 67.5 degree angle from the
12 o clock position of the guest. (Yes, details within the standards can get this specific)
Examples of Steps of Service (Hayes, HGCC Dining Room Steps of Service, 2009) :
1. Member/ Guest is seated
2. Water Delivery  Within 30 Seconds
3. Server Greets Member(s) and their Guest (s) within 30 Seconds
a. If server cannot greet Member(s) and their Guest within that time frame, at the very least
acknowledge their presence and state you will be with them shortly

Patriarchy In Medea
I / Will bury them with my own hand, to ensure that none / Of my enemies shall violate or insult their

announces these plans. After killing the king and princess, Medea believes she must kill her sons to
protect them from enemies in Corinth. Though the Chorus and Nurse wish to stop her, they are unable
and then become afraid to intervene. With her sword, Medea kills both of her sons her home. Arriving
after the children are dead, Jason grows disgusted with Medea and wishes her to leave at once. Jason
requests that he take the bodies of their sons, in order to give them a proper burial. However, Medea,

Negative Effects On Public Media
Today the data linking violence in the television to violence in society are superior to those linking
cancer and tobacco (Grossman 31). The digital revolution of television symbolizes that the
technological advances have taken the lead of modern society. The relation between children s violent
television viewing and their development is assignable in various ways. Research studies raised some
significant questions about this field and suggest the possible negative consequences that televised
violence could bring to the youth. As the most common and popular public media, television deserved
society s critical attention on its detrimental effects among children. People who is responsible for
major consequences should be attacked by actions such as allowing or profiting inappropriate images
on children s programs, which can cause both physical and psychological problems to the youth
viewers and even lead to criminal behaviors. Violent images on children s television programs should
be discern as the complex interplay that lead to major consequences in children s future development.
Nowadays, under the exposure of television, aggressive images are often shown and even suggested in
children s shows or cartoons. Aggressive actions involving animated characters are easy to caught
youngsters attention. Professor Chris Boyatzis , a member of the Cal State Fullerton Child
Development Department, further proved by expressing that, Violent cartoons have been a staple of

Lake Toba Essay
1. Introduction 1.1. Toba Catastrophe Lake Toba is located in Sumatra, Indonesia (Figure 1). The Toba
Eruption was the last of three major eruptions, which occurred over the past million years, creating a
volcanic caldera1. The most recent eruption, also known as the Youngest Toba Tuff erupted around
73,000 (± 4000) years ago2. This created a global catastrophe that effected many species, including
humans. Many researchers have linked this even to the most recent bottleneck in human evolution
resulting in a dramatic drop in the human population to only about 3,000 to 10,000 in a very short
period of time3. 1.2 Definition of Supereruption The term supereruption was introduced after the Toba
eruption in 1992 to describe the devastating effects that occurred5. To this date, there is no strict
definition however; an eruption that can produce over 300 cubic kilometers of magma would have
global consequences and therefore, be considered super 6. The volume of magma that erupted from
Toba was much greater than any other eruption previously recorded2. The fragmental deposit from
such a large eruption can produce volumes of 1000km3 or greater7. Therefore, according to this
definition, the latest eruption of Toba can definitely be considered a supereruption. 1.3 Comparison to
Yellowstone Eruptions Figure 2 compares the volume of material erupted from several different
eruptions and it is clear the Yellowstone eruptions were of significant size. Three of the eruptions

Rotational Equilibrium Lab Report
An object that has rotational equilibrium, or is balances, has a net torque of 0. The torque of an object
is directly proportional to the distance from the applied force to the pivot point, the applied force and
its angle; and the formula is T=F*d*sinθ. In this laboratory, we unbalanced and balanced a meter stick
by hanging different masses from different distance of the pivot point. In addition, the mass of the
meter stick was found using the torque formula. The First step was to find where the meter had
rotational equilibrium, and that it is the same point where the force of gravity acts. In our meter stick
was where it marks 0.497m. Once we had the meter stick balanced, a mass of 0.268kg (m1) with the
help of a clip was hanged from a distance of 0.463m (d1) from the pivot point. Creating a torque of
1.216Nm (using counter clockwise as positive direction), we had to balance the meter using a mass of
0.518kg (m2). Since the force applied was the weight of the masses, and both torque must be equal to
balance the meter stick. We came up with the equation: (m2) (g) (d2) = (m1) (g) (d1),
consequently,d2=(m1)(g)(d1)/(m2)(g) , and it was equal to 0.23m. Then, we locate the mass at that
distance from the pivot point and it work. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On one side of the meter were acting two masses and in the other just one mass. These masses were
located at different distance from the pivot point. The two masses on one side were: 0.268kg (m1) at
0.1m (d1), and 0.218kg (m2) at 0.3m (d2), in addition, the 3rd mass needs to be at 0.3m (d3).
Therefore, we made the equation: (m3) (g) (d3) = [(m2) (g) (d2)] + [(m1) (g) (d1)] and then, m3=(
[(m2) (g) (d2)] + [(m1) (g) (d1)])/((g) (d3) ). The resulting m3 was 0.307kg. After placing the obtained
mass at the stated distance (d3), the meter stick was

Scholarly Journals On The Other Hand
A. There are three different types of sources: scholarly journals, popular journals, and trade journals. A
scholarly journal is written by subject specialist that inform readers with their in depth analysis and
research. Scholarly journals are prepared with relevant terminology for the field they have researched,
there are very few images, and lists references in a works cited. Poplar journals on the other hand, are
written by journalists with the objective to entertain not inform. Popular journals appeal to the broad
segment of the population and are very brief articles with many images and advertisements. Lastly,
trade journals provide readers with industry trends useful for people in business. They are written by

Experts believe that without devaluation, UK s interest rates could ve gotten even higher and they
would ve faced deflationary pressure.
In 2002, the Argentina government devalued the peso after a deep recession. This disaster began in the
1980s when Argentina faced high inflation rates and dreadful debt. Insurmountable debt grew due to
poor tax collection, government spending, and a decrease in tax revenue. In attempt to create a fixed
exchange rate, Argentina set in law a peg of a one to one ratio of the Argentina peso and the dollar
(Pettinger 2012). Eventually appreciation in Argentina s currency led to an 15% unemployment rate.
In the early 2000s Argentina ditched the fixed exchange rate causing a devaluation in their currency.
The effects of that devaluation had both an upside and downside. After the devaluation, Argentinians
were forced to stop purchasing imports and purchase mostly domestic goods. The economy of
Argentina also has annually increased their GDP. However, the devaluation also caused a decrease in
living standards and inflation.
In 1991, India faced an economic downfall which resulted in a devaluation of their currency. The
Indian rupee decreased in value by 9% and not so long after that, the value of the rupee went down to
11%. Their economic downfall began when the rupee was fixed to other common trading partners. A
series of Indian balance issues caused the devaluation. Since the devaluation,

John Smith Essay
John Smith is one of the most famous people in American literature history. He was a dedicated man
to his country of England, and wanted nothing more than to claim America in the name of the king.
During his adventures to the new land he encountered many new things and people including a young
Native American woman named Pocahontas. He also wrote many journals enticing people to want to
come to America. This shall tell you the story of John Smith from his journeys as a young man all the
way to when he finally came to America, and how his writings still influence people to immigrate to
America still today.

With this policy, the survival rate grew to nearly ninety percent that year. He organized successful
trading with the Native American Powhattan. Smith was however captured by him and only spared
when Powhattan s daughter Pocahontas pleaded for his life. This is where the story of Pocahontas
comes from. Smith wrote a letter about this encounter to Queen Anne when he heard of her coming to
England years later. He wanted to ensure that she would not be treated as someone that could not be
trusted. He wanted to show her loyalty to him and to England.
Smith was badly burned in 1606 from a gunpowder explosion and forced to return back to England. In
1614 he returned with an expedition to map the New England coastline. He would never return to
Virginia again after this. He would from then on only promote colonizing the New England area. His
efforts to promote colonizing were blocked by weather, pirates and lack of funding. He then resorted
to writing about colonization. In his writing he elaborated about how wonderful it was in the new
world. He would say that the fish practically jump into your boat when you go fishing and things such
as that. He made the new world seem better than it really was so people would want to travel here and
settle in it. His plan worked because year after year more and more people flocked to the New
England hoping to colonize and not have to worry about running out

Margaret Thatcher not only broke through the glass ceiling she shattered it. Speaking in her honor
Prime Minister David Cameron observed that, at a time when it was difficult for a woman to become a
Member of Parliament, almost inconceivable that one could lead the Conservative Party and, by her
own reckoning, virtually impossible that a woman could become Prime Minister, she did all three .
(history.blog.uk) After a failed bid in 1950 Thatcher was elected Member of Parliament (MP) in 1959
one of just 25 women in a house of 605 men. Thatcher was appointed Secretary of State for
Education and Science in 1970 and in 1975, she defeated Heath in the Conservative Party leadership
election to become Leader of the Opposition and subsequently the first woman to lead a major
political party in The UK. In 1979 Thatcher was elected Prime Minister after winning the general
election. Thatcher was known for having a confrontational approach. One of the leading figures in her
first ministry Jim Prior found it particularly difficult to raise his voice to a woman and engage in the
argumentative style which Thatcher encouraged. For Mr. Prior such behavior was not gentlemanly.

The Impact of the Flinestones and the Simpsons
Throughout American history, many cartoons have impacted the lives of many people today. The
Flintstones was a popular show in the sixties and The Simpson was popular in the nineties. Despite
many similarities between The Simpson and The Flintstones, the differences are not as obvious. In
both shows, the main characters always end up in trouble. Also they both have family situations to
deal with. There is a major difference between the two shows that makes them different from one
another. The main characters are completely different. The Flintstones were the greatest TV cartoon of
all time until The Simpsons came and took the title. The Simpsons and The Flintstones both are
comedies that catch viewers attention. These two shows have been making Americans laugh every
night for 30 minutes for many years. The Flintstones was a show in the sixties that many families
followed. They were a typical nuclear family which meant two parents and their kids. They were
popular because it was making problems that were happening in the world then, and changing it to the
same problem but in the Stone Age. The Flintstones family was made up with Fred, Wilma, Pebbles,
Dino, and Baby Puss. Fred was a loving husband and dad that worked at a rock and gravel company

Essay about Organized Crime Around the World
When people think of organized crime they think of the Italian mob and the Russian mafia. They are
the ones that they see in movies and on television, and the ones that they hear about the most.
However, they were created a couple centuries after their Asian counterparts, the Yakuza in Japan, and
the Triads in China. These Asian syndicates were founded in the sixteenth and seventeenth century
and consisted of merchants and other people in what was basically the middle class. They were just
groups of poorer people who were just looking for protection or were trying to help other people. The
first organized crime syndicates were a kind of Robin Hood, they helped the poor. They weren t big or

Organized crime is now in every major city in the US. The heaviest presence is in New York City, Los

Italian Mafia in the U.S. can trace its origins all the way back to the Sicilian Mafia which was founded
in Sicily during the 1800 s (Italian Organized Crime). After thousands of years of different armies
with different nationalities conquering Italy and exploiting its people, the Sicilians became to be more
clannish and family focused. Originally they were just resistance fighters that were protecting their
friends and family. They were relied on for protection, justice, and survival. Nobody cared if they got
money from it because it came from the oppressive authorities. Members of these groups were known
as Men of Honor and they were well respected and even admired because they looked out for their
family and kept silent sometimes even unto death. They didn t become an organized crime group until
the 1920 s however (Italian Organized Crime). It was around this same time that the US began to see
what later became La Cosa Nostra or our thing, better known as the American Mafia which was aided

Crime Affects Crime
My research question is How does committing crimes affect a person s physical health and do
different crimes affect physical health more or less? It is important to the criminal justice system to
determine how much crime actually affects the health of an offender. Assuming that committing
crimes causes stress to the individual, stress can show negative side effects on the human body that
can be physical or mental. By identifying any health problems created by committing crimes, one
could potentially deter potential criminals. In the criminal justice system in the United States, there
currently is not much deterrence for criminals in regards to punishment. There is the potential to use
the risk of them affecting their health as a deterrent. It is also important to look at how different crimes
affect the physical health of an offender. For instance, a small crime such as shoplifting may not cause
as much stress as robbery. Looking into the potential for higher stress levels in certain crimes could
lead to offenders avoiding those crimes. If criminals stop committing the higher stress crimes, it can
help law enforcement and citizens focus on stopping the lesser crimes.
Although I could not find an article or experiment related to crime causing stress, I found the opposite.
Strain theory attempts to explain that stress causes crime. Agnew s general strain theory is considered
to be one of the most accurate theories in explaining crime. He argued that the stresses from the

but the problem is still there and problem is still there. The problem Americans face is the problem of
being under constant surveillance by our trusted leaders. In America, government surveillance needs

Illegal Off Label Promotion Is Personal Choice Of Actions
CLAIM THREE
Illegal off label promotion is personal choice of actions.
Thinking about the responsibility for illegal off label promotion, question of the chain of command
pops out. Who initiates that type of campaigns and actions? Sometimes it s company s established
strategy; sometimes it s sales force s desire to reach the quota. What happens when company s ideas
confront with common sense and legal responsibilities of the employees? Do they really have a
choice?
Lynn A. Morrison was medical sales representative at pharmaceutical company B. Braun for almost

Globalization is a new term to describe social, cultural, and economic process. It is a process that

Counties could get benefit from globalization of economy through international trading. However,
they also could suffer negative impacts of globalization. In modern society, the trades between
countries are usual and frequent. According to Robert, through international trading, the US citizens
could buy foreign products in lower prices. However, international trading is harmful for some
domestic companies (2013). For instance, if US and China all produce cars. Once both country open
its market to the world. China will lose its original competitive advantages because the U.S. auto
companies made better cars. The cause of this result is the diversity of competitive advantages. For
China, their competitive advantage is low labor costs but low technology. For the United States, they
has high technology but high labor expenses. Also if some of countries join some custom unions.
Those country who was not in that unions will definitely has disadvantage on international trading.
Towards these types of problems, the US government made a lot of policies to protect US economy.

of import goods. It is only benefit to U.S. producers. On the other hand, world wild business

Plasmid Vs Ampicillin
After analyzing the data recorded for both the agar plates containing ampicillin and those that did not,
it can be concluded that the data provides enough evidence to reject the null hypothesis. There is
enough evidence to support the alternative hypothesis stating that there is a correlation between
plasmids coding for an antibiotic resistant gene and bacterial growth in ampicillin. When a bacterial
solution containing either pUC18 or the lux plasmid is transformed in an agar plate containing
ampicillin, only those cells which took in the plasmid are able to survive and replicate, forming
individual colonies. Not all cells are transformed though, the chances of a successful transformation

As expected the higher growth was seen in the E.coli cells growing outside ampicillin environments,
this is because they grow freely with only minor risk, such as contamination. Possible errors in the
experiment can have included the difference in the amount of liquid broth added to the E.coli sample
that contained no plasmid and that which contained a plasmid. The sample containing no plasmid
received half the amount of liquid broth (150µl) as that of the other two samples (300µl). Liquid broth
can have incremented the growth in the plates containing plasmid twice as much as on the rest of the
plates. Another artifact which can have affected the results was the time each solution spent in both the
ice and hot water bath. Uneven sharing may have also taken place within the E.coli used for each
plasmid leading to different amounts of colonial growth in the different agar plates used. More

Argumentative Essay On Processed Foods
Most Americans love the low cost, prepackaged, great tasting food that is convenient to buy and
prepare. These prepackaged or processed foods are normally made to be faster, cheaper and usually
taste great but they are loaded with bizarre, unpronounceable chemicals that, if you saw them in their
pre processed state, you would never consider putting in your mouth. Emulsifiers, preservatives,
colorants, stabilizers, artificial sweeteners, texturizers and even bleach can be found in most processed
foods. On average, Americans spend 90% of their food budget on these types of foods which is found
to contribute to the leading causes of obesity, auto immune disease, diabetes and even cancer.
Everywhere you look there is a rising concern for health from these added ingredients. Let s take a
look at tomatoes, Fresh tomatoes are considered to be very good for you and aid to help prevent
cancer, the canned ones not so much. Canned processed foods are a concern because of the material
the can is made of. The lining of almost all canned foods contain a chemical called BPA. Studies show
that BPA affects the way genes work inside the brain. Tomatoes are exceptionally dangerous due to the
high acidic level. The acid reacts to the BPA making the chemical transfer into the tomatoes instead of
staying in the lining of the can. This is just one example and one type of processed canned foods, there

Harrison Bergeron Character Analysis
Harrison Bergeron. by Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. is about Harrison s struggle to fight against a system set in
place by John Klaxon and his secret society. The message of Harrison Bergeron. is, that equality doesn
t necessarily create the perfect world. Because nobody can express who they are as an individual. The
characters in Harrison Bergeron. Such as John Klaxon and Harrison himself, had conflicting
ideologies that lead to strife and conflict between them.
John Klaxon spent his life creating a world in which the general public was totally equal to one
another, but him and his secret society don t have handicaps or any sort. They manage what the public
sees and hears with mind numbing television programs, but they themselves can watch movies and
programs with any meaning and listen to beautiful music. In this social structure John Klaxon has
created, himself and his secret society are the only ones in this society that can truly express their
ideas and feelings. During the movie after the police bust on Head house. Harrison is offered two
choices die or join Klaxons society, there he is told to take his handicaps off. This is unfair to the
public because it exposes the corruption of this system and the government that controls their daily
lives. John Klaxon believed that too, end envy would bring an end to war and conflict. But this led to
no one being able to show individuality or express themselves.During the movie after John showed

South to put their problems aside that s preventing them from getting along. In this speech, Lincoln
uses tone, diction, and syntax to help reach the purpose of the speech. Lincoln s tone encourages the
Americans to finish the Civil War and the progress as becoming a nation. According to The Avalon
Project it says, let us strive on to finish the work we are in and to do all which may achieve and
cherish a just and lasting peace. Lincoln s tone, that he uses, is hopeful: he wished for the war to finish

According, to The Avalon Project it says, While the Inaugural Address was being delivered from this
place, devoted altogether to saving the Union without war, insurgent agents were in the city seeking to
destroy it without war, seeking to dissolve the Union and divide effects by negotiation and All dreaded
it all sought to avert it. The differentiation in the lengths of the sentences can show the difference
between the North and South, and Lincoln s tendency to combine them to make a strong country. This
syntax helps highlight Lincoln s purpose of joining a divided country by merging two different
sentence lengths to make a powerful speech, showing that the combination of the Confederacy and the
Union will make a strong country. Lastly, Lincoln uses syntax to make a call for a unified country,
mainly as he concludes. According, to the article The Avalon Project it says let us strive to finish the
work we are in, to bind up the country s wounds, to care for him who shall have borne the battle and
for his widow and his orphan. With this conclusion, Lincoln encourages the North, as winners, to no
longer make war, but to make peace, and should care about the people who have been wounded in the

How Did Pierre Trudeau Change Canada
Just watch me . One of the most popular quotes in all of Canadian history and was said by Canadian
Prime Minister, Pierre Elliott Trudeau. His legacy, attitude, and work transformed Canada and still
continues to do so. Trudeau was the Prime Minister of Canada, from 1968 to 1979 and from 1980 to
1984. Pierre Trudeau changed Canada s social political ideology. Canada is now known to be a
diverse, multicultural, bilingual and inclusive nation largely as result of his work. Pierre Elliott
Trudeau also believed in an equal Canada for all, he is primarily the one to introduce rights and
freedoms to the citizens of Canada. While some view Pierre Trudeau as impulsive, for enforcing the

Trudeau s approach to the situation provided Canadians security and safety. During Trudeau s time in
office, Quebec separatism was becoming an alarming issue. A terrorist organization, Front de
Liberation du Quebec (FLQ), was formed in an effort to separate Quebec from the rest of Canada. The
extremist brought havoc to Quebec and demanded separation from the Anglo (English speaking). On
October 5, 1970, the FLQ kidnapped British trade commissioner James Cross. They demanded the
release of FLQ members, the payment of $500,000, the publication of the FLQ manifesto and an
airplane ticket to either Cuba or Algeria. After, the FLQ went on to kidnap Quebec Cabinet Minister of
Labour and Immigration, Pierre Laporte, on October 10, 1970. In retaliation and for the security of the
people, Trudeau invoked the War Measures Act. The War Measures Act, called in military personnel in
Quebec to restore order, provide security and to help bring an end to the FLQ. With these
circumstance the War Measures Act was appropriate action taken, as it brings security to the people of
Quebec. Furthermore, it is key to remember the FLQ was a terrorist organization and it was important
that Trudeau eliminate the threat they posed to Canadians. Ricci writes in his novel Pierre Elliott
Trudeau, FLQ had been implicated in six deaths and in more than two hundred bombings in Quebec,

Theme Of Figurative Language In To Kill A Mockingbird
A. Juxtaposition A literary technique in which two or more ideas, places, characters and their actions
are placed side by side in a narrative or a poem for the purpose of developing comparisons and
contrasts. Ex. O, she doth teach the torches to burn bright! It seems she hangs upon the cheek of night
Like a rich jewel in an Ethiope s ear;
B. Imagery To use figurative language to represent objects, actions, and ideas in such a way that it
appeals to our physical senses. Ex. Brookfield he had liked, almost from the beginning. He
remembered that day of his preliminary interview sunny June, with the air full of flower scents and the
plick plock of cricket on the pitch. Brookfield was playing Barnhurst, and one of the Barnhurst boys, a
chubby little fellow, made a brilliant century. Queer that a thing like that should stay in the memory so
clearly.
C. Motif An object or idea that repeats itself throughout a literary work. Ex. The central idea of the
coexistence of good and evil in Harper Lee s To Kill a Mockingbird is supported by several motifs.
Lee strengthens the atmosphere by a motif of Gothic details i.e. recurrent images of gloomy and
haunted settings, supernatural events, full moon etc. Another motif in the narrative is the small town
life of Maycomb, which depicts goodness and pleasantness in life.
D. Irony A figure of speech in which words are used in such a way that their intended meaning is
different from the actual meaning of the words. Ex. Shakespeare employs this verbal irony in Julius
Caesar, Act I, Scene II: CASSIUS: Tis true this god did shake. Cassius, despite knowing the mortal
flaws of Caesar, calls him this god .
E. Metonymy A figure of speech that replaces the name of a thing with the name of something else
with which it is closely associated. Ex. The given lines are from Shakespeare s Julius Caesar Act I.
Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears. Mark Antony uses ears to say that he wants the
people present there to listen to him attentively. It is a metonymy because the word ears replaces the
concept of attention.
F. Hyperbole A figure of speech that involves exaggeration of ideas for the sake of emphasis. Ex. He
cried all night, and

Compare And Contrast Traditional Teaching Styles
No teachers are similar as well as no students learn in the same way. Every teacher has their own
unique teaching style which is based on their educational philosophy, their classroom s demographic,
what subject area they teach, and the school s mission statement. Up until now, teachers are looking
for a system that will engage students in the educational process and will develop the students critical
thinking skills. Moreover, teachers want the classroom to be in order and in control, but they also want
their students to appreciate the learning procedure. These teaching styles can be divided into two
approaches the teacher centered and learner centered.
Traditional teaching styles use teacher centered approach. It includes a teacher that stands at the front
and tells students step by step instructions. The teacher decides what is learned, when it is learned,
how it is learned, and how learning is evaluated. In a nutshell, the teacher is an information giver and
evaluator. The students are just there to learn through lessons and direct instructions. Their attention is
mainly focused on passing tests, assessments, and evaluations.
Through the years, many successful people have came from the traditional setting. The earliest
recorded occurrence of education proved that people learned in a ... Show more content on

Students are placed in the responsibility of their own learning and understanding while the teachers
encourage students to be more independent and more exploratory. The teachers will foster a sense of
autonomy in the learning process as they act as a source of experiences. In addition, as the students
watch their teacher makes mistakes, they will learn those failures are part of the learning process. The
students will soon realize that mistakes are natural in life and it will serve as stepping stones to

Diversity In New Schools
With my shift to SWA, it took me a great deal of time to research and question my decision on going

have almost all grades within one build but they make it work with a diversity of classes, schedules,

Drama Improvisation
Drama Essay
To be good at improvisation, it doesn t really matter how talented you are, but more about giving it
your best shot
Improvisation is the art of being able to create ideas in a split second, with little or no warning as to
what you are making up. In drama the art of improvisation, and being a good improviser, is absolutely
essential. However, there are many different views on what it takes to be good at improvisation. To be
good at improvisation, it relies very little on how talented the actor is, but more importantly, it relies
on them trying they re very hardest to be a good improviser, on them giving it their best shot. This can
be determined by how hard the actor is concentrating, on wether or not they have knowledge ... Show

Above all other factors of improvisation, having knowledge of the basics is absolutely vital. This is
knowing about the concept of make, accept, extend . This is where one person makes the offer, it is
accepted by another, and then is extended by the actors playing out the scene. An excellent example of
this was shown in class today, during an improvisation game. One group set up a scene for another
group to act in (this was where the offer was made), and in this scenario, it was a game show. Straight
away, the group that was acting picked up on what scenario they had been put into (this was where the
offer had been accepted) and continued on with the scene without hesitation (this was where the offer
was extended). Another excellent, and hilarious example of make, accept, extend was when in class,
we acted out the scenario of waiting at a bus stop. Jerrah had acted out that she was pregnant and in
labour. Suddenly, Gabby decided she would be the baby. Jerrah had to quickly accept the offer made
by Gabby, which she did, and they both extended it in an incredibly hilarious fashion.
Another important factor of improvisation is the idea of giving it your best shot to interact with your
fellow actors. Without interacting with one another, there could be no scene, no scenario, nothing at
all. When tyring your very best to interact with your fellow actors, improvisation is definitely at it s
best. This was seen during our

How To Write A Descriptive Essay On Malabar Farm
Mount Jeez overlooks the Malabar Farm and much of the Pleasant Valley. In its actuality it really is
just a big hill. Mount Jeez lays in a great line, like a spine of land, providing a crystal clear view of the
sky. The rumbling and roaring white wave surge down the mountain side, at some point the wrinkled
mountain seems to be cocoon quite whenever a right of snow covered the sky punching the mountain.
During the winter season, the snow festoons the mountain peak and embalmed with the tiaras of the
powdery snow, while the foot of the mountain is covered with mist in the morning. The purple sky
reflected the beautiful and flaky snow that covers the mountain like a blanket while silence remains in
the air as the animals sleep and hibernate in the winter. The mountain normally remains white peaked

Advantages Of Neoconservatism In International Relations
Neoconservatism in International Relations
Neoconservatives have faith in the might of the American Army and its predominance at the level of
labor, gear and advancement. They trust that the US has the military intends to reshape the world as
per its own particular advantages, and thusly, they tend to benefit military control over tact. Like
Jacksonians, Neocons hate multilateral organizations and have a tendency to see them as feeble and
wasteful. They like to act singularly, regardless of the possibility that it implies violating global law.
This carelessness comes from the Neocon adoration for the RMA, Revolution in the Military Affairs,
which means a dependence on stealth innovation, air conveyed accuracy guided weapons and versatile
ground powers. Precisely what the Bush organization would convey in Afghanistan and Iraq. The
Wilsonian side of Neoconservatism is clear in the development s advancement of the
internationalization of law based govern to whatever number places as could reasonably be expected.
The Neocon mind is Manichean and trusts that the world partitions into great states and awful states,
and that majority rules systems have amiable expectations, notwithstanding the vote based peace
hypothesis which asserts that popular governments don t run at war with each other. Thus the more the
U.S. democratizes the less danger of wars there is. This is the thing that Francis Fukuyama basically
called the finish of history . Obviously the occasions of 9 11 put

At the root of Arab culture is a religious, highly masculine, high context, polychronic atmosphere that
affects all things from what is done on a daily basis to what is watched in movies and listened to on

MTV Arabia will experience the following issues with Arab culture: MTVs own international culture
is one that is quite western. Arabs do not simply classify western as American Western is west of
Arabia, including Europe in addition to America. For this reason MTV will need to reshape its cultural
appeal and, as it has already done, include a vast majority of strictly Arab shows rather than European
or American shows. MTV Arabia will need to match the Arab culture in its personal approach and
need to reach the people where they are. They will not simply flock to the channel. Going to schools
and shopping centers to raise awareness is huge. Due to the level of personal focus of the Arab people,
MTV will also need to include itself in social programs and focusing on social problems.

Volatility within Electronic Communication Essay
Volatility within Electronic Communication
It has been noticed on several different forums for several decades that communicating on the internet
can be downright mean. Anonymity, lack of accountability, absence of visual cues, and perceived
distance has led to the increased hostility and rudeness on internet social media. This uncivil
communication has also been shown to hurt the perpetrator more than it hurts whoever is on the
receiving end (Rope, n.d.). As a result, it has been determined that face to face communication is more
productive and healthy than communication via electronic formats for all parties involved in the
conversation.
This volatile communication is not a recent development following the explosive growth of ... Show

An additional factor that makes virtual communication so misunderstood is that a part of the message,
the sender s tonality and body language, is removed in virtual communication, thus removing a large
part of the overall message. Just think about this for a moment, remove eye to eye contact, the
emphasis or urgency in the voice of the sender, or even a simple roll of the eyes. People are accustom
to communicating face to face, allowing them to pick up on the subtle cues that body language gives
during conversation. By not seeing the body language involved, large portion of the message is not
sent, received or understood, thus changing the meaning of the message, and quite possible drastically
in certain cases. Gardner states in her article, Troll Psychology: Why People Are So Mean on the
Internet, that when humans are faced with guesswork and ambiguity, they often perceive it as
threatening and react accordingly (page 1). Overall, the message that Gardner is attempting to convey
here is, that when important, yet subtle, cues are removed, the human brain reverts to its basic survival
instincts of fight or flight. In doing this, the message is taken as a threat, and the receiver reacts
accordingly with a negative retort.
Not only can communication lack the needed cues given by body language, but often times reader
comments following a factual news story can alter what other readers may think about the

A Report On Sustainable Biofuels
Executive Summary
With the goal of achieving carbon neutral growth by 2020 the aviation industry views sustainable
biofuels as its tool to reach that goal. The major aircraft manufacturers are leaders in the research
effort, utilizing their resources to fund and facilitate early tests with biofuels. While a core group of
airlines using a very limited supply of biofuel is testing the commercial viability of biofuels across
diverse networks.
Ethanol, made from corn, is part of the first generation biofuels, which are cheaper but have a larger
impact on food supply. The price of ethanol is higher than the current gas prices when factors like
transportation and labour are taken into account. However, airlines may find this type of biofuel ...

The usage of land originally dedicated to agriculture has not only created food shortages, but also
caused an increase in food prices. Furthermore, there is not enough land capacity to satisfy the
demand of the biofuel industry.
Biofuel is an ideal solution and the successes seen by aircraft manufacturers and airlines are small
steps of progress towards full implementation. However, given the limitations in land capacity, the
debate of fuel versus food, the current technological developments, high prices and lack of
government support, this solution is neither economical nor sustainable.

Future of Alternative Fuels for Air Travel Introduction
Rise of Biofuels
With the airline industry committed to achieving carbon neutral growth by 2020, the introduction of
sustainably produced biofuels is a key strategy for achieving this goal. It was a multi year process that
required collaboration between aircraft makers, engine manufacturers and oil companies, with the first

time there has been thousands of flights fuelled with sustainable biofuels, here are a few milestones;

Western Europe, particularly the European Union (EU). Discouragingly, twenty six years after
independence Ukraine wrestles with a depleted economy inherited from former and first President

One of Russia s most well known acts of aggression against Ukraine was the annexation of Crimea.
With evidence that Russia is attempting to expand its influence, how will this affect Ukraine s
sovereignty and most importantly its policies? (The Atlantic 2014). Above all, it will be interesting to
dissect how this affects education policies. In spite of pressure from Russia, in 2014 Ukrainian
policymakers passed a legislation that empowered universities with more autonomy with their
curriculum, finances and hiring practices. Before its passage, the government was overly involved in
the design and implementation of education programs which inhibited faculty research endeavors
(Freedom House 2016).
The Electoral System Ukraine s next presidential and parliamentary election is scheduled for 2019. A
mixed election system is utilized to elect the 450 legislative seats. 225 members of parliament are
elected through first past the post voting (FPTP) with a five percent threshold from single member
districts and the other 225 are selected from a closed list through proportional representation. In order
for a party to be successful they must acquire a minimum of 5 percent of the votes. On Election Day,
Ukrainians cast two ballots, a ballot in support of their local representative and political party
(Freedom House 2016). More so than other parliamentary systems coalitions are imperative for
victory. One of the most notable aspects on the 2014

A Horror Movie Reasoning
A Horror Movie Reasoning Why we Crave Horror Movies is an essay written by the most popular
horror author, who works included Carrie (1974), The Shining (1977), The Dead Zone (1979) and
Misery (1987), Stephen King. The excerpt originally came from his book Danse Macabre. Why we
Crave Horror Movies was originally published in Playboy Magazine in 1981. The essay was an
explanation of why King felt that people craved horror movies. He goes into great detail throughout
the essay and gave various reasons of he felt the way he did. While reading the first the that came to
mind was the target audience because he is speaking to a certain group of people. Then logos because
King is making a huge assumption throughout the essay, which came of very strong. Lastly, ethos
because of the tone King sets in the essay, and pathos because overall King has a purpose for the essay
he wrote. Target audience was the first thing that came to mind when reading this essay, because in the
beginning it said that this essay was published in Playboy Magazine. Playboy Magazine s target
audience has always been adult men, mainly due to the content of the magazine that extends beyond
the literature published in it. Because it was published in that specific magazine, you can make the
assumption that King s target audience was adult men whose forms of entertainment choices could be
deemed as thrill seeking . Secondly, the essay s logos presented within a huge assumption which was

Similarities Between Charles And Ray Eames
My Project 3 booklet is Charles and Ray Eames. I chose the first moodboard. It was my favorite one.
Images are big and bleed to the edge of the pages. I liked big letters that break the colums, and I also
liked the grids how they used. For my own project, I wanted to fill the page with a picture, but pictures
have low resolution, so I changed my plan to scale down all the images and wrote the quotation on top
of the images to break the grid like my mood board. I tried to use limited colors, but it was not easy to
make them same colors because the background of the images have different colors. I removed
background of few images, and changed colors. Charles and Ray Eames s works feel like rounded and
heavy, so I chose typeface is ITC Avant Garde Gothic Std(bold) for title. I wanted to use different

  • 5. Negative Effects On Public Media Today the data linking violence in the television to violence in society are superior to those linking cancer and tobacco (Grossman 31). The digital revolution of television symbolizes that the technological advances have taken the lead of modern society. The relation between children s violent television viewing and their development is assignable in various ways. Research studies raised some significant questions about this field and suggest the possible negative consequences that televised violence could bring to the youth. As the most common and popular public media, television deserved society s critical attention on its detrimental effects among children. People who is responsible for major consequences should be attacked by actions such as allowing or profiting inappropriate images on children s programs, which can cause both physical and psychological problems to the youth viewers and even lead to criminal behaviors. • 6. Lake Toba Essay 1. Introduction 1.1. Toba Catastrophe Lake Toba is located in Sumatra, Indonesia (Figure 1). The Toba Eruption was the last of three major eruptions, which occurred over the past million years, creating a volcanic caldera1. The most recent eruption, also known as the Youngest Toba Tuff erupted around 73,000 (± 4000) years ago2. This created a global catastrophe that effected many species, including humans. Many researchers have linked this even to the most recent bottleneck in human evolution resulting in a dramatic drop in the human population to only about 3,000 to 10,000 in a very short period of time3. 1.2 Definition of Supereruption The term supereruption was introduced after the Toba eruption in 1992 to describe the devastating effects that occurred5. To this date, there is no strict definition however; an eruption that can produce over 300 cubic kilometers of magma would have global consequences and therefore, be considered super 6. The volume of magma that erupted from Toba was much greater than any other eruption previously recorded2. The fragmental deposit from such a large eruption can produce volumes of 1000km3 or greater7. Therefore, according to this definition, the latest eruption of Toba can definitely be considered a supereruption. 1.3 Comparison to Yellowstone Eruptions Figure 2 compares the volume of material erupted from several different eruptions and it is clear the Yellowstone eruptions were of significant size. • 7. Rotational Equilibrium Lab Report An object that has rotational equilibrium, or is balances, has a net torque of 0. The torque of an object is directly proportional to the distance from the applied force to the pivot point, the applied force and its angle; and the formula is T=F*d*sinθ. In this laboratory, we unbalanced and balanced a meter stick by hanging different masses from different distance of the pivot point. In addition, the mass of the meter stick was found using the torque formula. The First step was to find where the meter had rotational equilibrium, and that it is the same point where the force of gravity acts. In our meter stick was where it marks 0.497m. Once we had the meter stick balanced, a mass of 0.268kg (m1) with the help of a clip was hanged from a distance of 0.463m (d1) from the pivot point. Creating a torque of 1.216Nm (using counter clockwise as positive direction), we had to balance the meter using a mass of 0.518kg (m2). Since the force applied was the weight of the masses, and both torque must be equal to balance the meter stick. We came up with the equation: (m2) (g) (d2) = (m1) (g) (d1), consequently,d2=(m1)(g)(d1)/(m2)(g) , and it was equal to 0.23m. Then, we locate the mass at that distance from the pivot point and it work. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On one side of the meter were acting two masses and in the other just one mass. These masses were located at different distance from the pivot point. The two masses on one side were: 0.268kg (m1) at 0.1m (d1), and 0.218kg (m2) at 0.3m (d2), in addition, the 3rd mass needs to be at 0.3m (d3). Therefore, we made the equation: (m3) (g) (d3) = [(m2) (g) (d2)] + [(m1) (g) (d1)] and then, m3=( [(m2) (g) (d2)] + [(m1) (g) (d1)])/((g) (d3) ). The resulting m3 was 0.307kg. In 2002, the Argentina government devalued the peso after a deep recession. This disaster began in the 1980s when Argentina faced high inflation rates and dreadful debt. Insurmountable debt grew due to poor tax collection, government spending, and a decrease in tax revenue. In attempt to create a fixed exchange rate, Argentina set in law a peg of a one to one ratio of the Argentina peso and the dollar (Pettinger 2012). Eventually appreciation in Argentina s currency led to an 15% unemployment rate. In the early 2000s Argentina ditched the fixed exchange rate causing a devaluation in their currency. The effects of that devaluation had both an upside and downside. After the devaluation, Argentinians were forced to stop purchasing imports and purchase mostly domestic goods. It is important to the criminal justice system to determine how much crime actually affects the health of an offender. Assuming that committing crimes causes stress to the individual, stress can show negative side effects on the human body that can be physical or mental. By identifying any health problems created by committing crimes, one could potentially deter potential criminals. In the criminal justice system in the United States, there currently is not much deterrence for criminals in regards to punishment. There is the potential to use the risk of them affecting their health as a deterrent. It is also important to look at how different crimes affect the physical health of an offender. For instance, a small crime such as shoplifting may not cause as much stress as robbery. Looking into the potential for higher stress levels in certain crimes could lead to offenders avoiding those crimes. If criminals stop committing the higher stress crimes, it can help law enforcement and citizens focus on stopping the lesser crimes. Ex. O, she doth teach the torches to burn bright! It seems she hangs upon the cheek of night Like a rich jewel in an Ethiope s ear; B. Above all other factors of improvisation, having knowledge of the basics is absolutely vital. This is knowing about the concept of make, accept, extend . This is where one person makes the offer, it is accepted by another, and then is extended by the actors playing out the scene. An excellent example of this was shown in class today, during an improvisation game. One group set up a scene for another group to act in (this was where the offer was made), and in this scenario, it was a game show. Straight away, the group that was acting picked up on what scenario they had been put into (this was where the offer had been accepted) and continued on with the scene without hesitation (this was where the offer was extended). Suddenly, Gabby decided she would be the baby. Jerrah had to quickly accept the offer made by Gabby, which she did, and they both extended it in an incredibly hilarious fashion. Another important factor of improvisation is the idea of giving it your best shot to interact with your fellow actors. Advantages Of Neoconservatism In International Relations Neoconservatism in International Relations Neoconservatives have faith in the might of the American Army and its predominance at the level of labor, gear and advancement. They trust that the US has the military intends to reshape the world as per its own particular advantages, and thusly, they tend to benefit military control over tact. Like Jacksonians, Neocons hate multilateral organizations and have a tendency to see them as feeble and wasteful. They like to act singularly, regardless of the possibility that it implies violating global law. This carelessness comes from the Neocon adoration for the RMA, Revolution in the Military Affairs, which means a dependence on stealth innovation, air conveyed accuracy guided weapons and versatile ground powers. Precisely what the Bush organization would convey in Afghanistan and Iraq. The Wilsonian side of Neoconservatism is clear in the development s advancement of the internationalization of law based govern to whatever number places as could reasonably be expected. The Neocon mind is Manichean and trusts that the world partitions into great states and awful states, and that majority rules systems have amiable expectations, notwithstanding the vote based peace hypothesis which asserts that popular governments don t run at war with each other. Thus the more the U.S. democratizes the less danger of wars there is. This is the thing that Francis Fukuyama basically called the finish of history . Obviously the occasions of 9 11 put ... At the root of Arab culture is a religious, highly masculine, high context, polychronic atmosphere that affects all things from what is done on a daily basis to what is watched in movies and listened to on the radio. MTV Arabia will experience the following issues with Arab culture: MTVs own international culture is one that is quite western. Arabs do not simply classify western as American Western is west of Arabia, including Europe in addition to America. For this reason MTV will need to reshape its cultural appeal and, as it has already done, include a vast majority of strictly Arab shows rather than European or American shows. MTV Arabia will need to match the Arab culture in its personal approach and need to reach the people where they are. They will not simply flock to the channel. Volatility within Electronic Communication Essay Volatility within Electronic Communication It has been noticed on several different forums for several decades that communicating on the internet can be downright mean. Anonymity, lack of accountability, absence of visual cues, and perceived distance has led to the increased hostility and rudeness on internet social media. This uncivil communication has also been shown to hurt the perpetrator more than it hurts whoever is on the receiving end (Rope, n.d.). As a result, it has been determined that face to face communication is more productive and healthy than communication via electronic formats for all parties involved in the conversation. This volatile communication is not a recent development following the explosive growth of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An additional factor that makes virtual communication so misunderstood is that a part of the message, the sender s tonality and body language, is removed in virtual communication, thus removing a large part of the overall message. Just think about this for a moment, remove eye to eye contact, the emphasis or urgency in the voice of the sender, or even a simple roll of the eyes. People are accustom to communicating face to face, allowing them to pick up on the subtle cues that body language gives during conversation. By not seeing the body language involved, large portion of the message is not sent, received or understood, thus changing the meaning of the message, and quite possible drastically in certain cases. Gardner states in her article, Troll Psychology: Why People Are So Mean on the Internet, that when humans are faced with guesswork and ambiguity, they often perceive it as threatening and react accordingly (page 1). Overall, the message that Gardner is attempting to convey here is, that when important, yet subtle, cues are removed, the human brain reverts to its basic survival instincts of fight or flight. In doing this, the message is taken as a threat, and the receiver reacts accordingly with a negative retort. Not only can communication lack the needed cues given by body language, but often times reader comments following a factual news story can alter what other readers may think about the ...
