Camera Angles In The Blind Side
The Blind Side is a movie about a young black boy named Michael who grew up in a rough area with
not much to look forward to. He always had to worry about being in danger, his family doing drugs,
and even being homeless, until one day he was at a high school volleyball game picking up left over
snacks from the bleachers when an upper class white family noticed him. After the game, they saw
him walking on the sidewalk along the road outside the school and asked him where he was staying.
He was planning on going to the gym where it was warm so they offered to take him home for a warm
and dry place to sleep. He took the offer and slept on the couch, the family ended up getting him
through high school and officially adopted him. He had big offers ... Show more content on

No matter the condition around Michael he always seemed to overcome it. This theme is very useful,
not only in the movie but can be taken from the movie and could be used in others lives. The movie all
came together in the use of camera angles/shots, color, lighting, sounds/music, and narration. Without
any of these devises the movie wouldn t give off an emotional message or the same message. Camera
angles and shots were used throughout the movie to show emotion because the movie is based on a
true story. During the movie, they show flashbacks of cop cars and Michael being taken away when he
was just a young child because of the terrible things going on around him, they showed these clips so
that the audience would understand the situation that Michael was in. The film maker also decided to
put camera shots of the original family so that the audience would feel more attached. Color was used
throughout the film a lot to show positive, and gloomy places. When Michael went back to the condo
where his biological mom lived, and where all the terrible things happened, there was a lot of blacks,
greys, and browns. When Michael was back at his adoptive family s house there was a lot of bright
colors used throughout the house making the house seem like a positive place. Another place that was
very positive was on the football field which was very bright and

Analyzing Hilda Doolittle s Poem Helen
HELENNNNNN Helen of Troy is a prominent character in Greek mythology who is known for her
beauty which caused the Trojan War. She is often viewed as a one dimensional character who
singularly represents beauty. However, in Hilda Doolittle s poem entitled Helen , she uses an analysis
of the image of Helen to support feminism. Her poem, written with three stanzas, describes a change
in Helen s personal state in order to emphasize the negative effects of assuming that beauty indicates
an absence of personality. Doolittle begins by describing, in simple terms, Greece s unanimous hate
towards the character Helen, whose beauty tears apart Greece. By describing Helen as still and white,
Doolittle conveys strong imagery of a conspicuous lack of motion. All Greece hates / the still eyes in
the white face... where she stands... (H.D. 2 4). Helen, who is described as white and standing, appears
very statuesque and immobile to readers. Interestingly, her eyes are said to have a lustre as of olives .

6). Here the verb has changed noticeably from hates to reviles , indicating the Greeks increased
intensity of negative emotions towards Helen. Furthermore, Greece reacts with disgust to Helen s
smile, creating the sense that Greece wants to deny Helen all movement, feelings, and life. The Greeks
are said to hate her even more when she remembers past enchantments / and past ills (H.D. 10 11).
Helen is likely remembering Troy, where her actions destroyed Greece. Calling the Trojan War a past
ill for Helen is a direct contrast to the unsaid ills the Greeks suffered in the same war, which were
much greater, at least in terms of life and death. Greece seems to think that whenever Helen does
anything, she causes trouble or reminds people of the trouble she has caused. In fact, this stanza
conveys the sense that Greece hate when Helen does anything but stand

The s Leadership Style During World War II
William Frederick Halsey, Jr., was the South Pacific Fleet Admiral during World War II, His passion
for naval aviation helped save the community and provide national support from the American people
back home. He was the major source of moral during the war for the American people, and always
produced results whenever and wherever it was needed. Although Halsey s leadership style has been
disputed more often than not, his decisions and role as Fleet Admiral during World War II served
greatly in the American victory over Japan. HALSEY HELPED TIP THE BALANCE OF POWER IN
THE PACIFIC DURING THE EARLY STAGES OF WORLD WAR II DURING 1942 1943, AND
ESTABLISH THE IMPORTANCE OF AVIATION AS A COMMUNITY IN THE NAVY. William
Halsey was raised with the influence of the Navy from birth. He was born on October 30th, 1882 in
New Jersey into a military family. His father was an officer in the Navy, and a distant relative, Captain
John Halsey, served as an English privateer during Queen Anne s war 1703 1713. Halsey was
essentially born into the navy, and was influenced by the service at such a young age. His boldness
outspoken nature was first demonstrated at an early age when he had trouble receiving admission into
the United States Naval Academy, and did not want to accept no for an answer. What distinguished
Halsey was the determination that he exhibited to get there...he immediately started writing letters to
anyone who might help, including one plea to President William McKinley. His

Fourth Of July Analysis
Wow, wow, wow! After arriving on the island, I could not contain my excitement. I m actually here! I
sprinted towards the statue to get a better look and Alfred was following behind me telling me to wait
up. After the conversation, Alfred said he was celebrating his birthday by himself. He had a sad look
when I asked him about celebrating with his friends and family so I guess he really was celebrating
alone. Poor guy and he s a cheerful one too. Feeling sorry for him I offered him to tag along with me
on my Fourth of July expedition to the statue. He objected it at first because he doesn t want to get in
my way, but as I was travelling alone, I change his mind. Really, dudette! I won t get in your way? No,
of course not. Besides, I m traveling by myself, so a company would be nice and it s your special day

Gattaca Self Determination Essay
The role of self determination is quite present throughout multiple scenes within the movie involving
Vincent and his brother competing in their own swimming contest dubbed Chicken in which they
attempt to out swim the other. Initially, Anton outswims brother in almost every race because of his
innate physical advantages not due to his determination as throughout Anton s life he never had to try
due to him being a valid. Though Vincent eventually succeeds and beats his brother in chicken as
through sheer determination as unlike Anton, Vincent was constantly told that he was naturally
inferior. Every time he swam against Anton, he put in all his effort. This is the first demonstration of
the role of self determination within the film as despite losing almost every time Vincent does not lose
hope but instead becomes more determined than before. This proves to Vincent that if he is capable of
beating his valid brother, he is able to fulfil his dream of becoming an astronaut at Gattaca. The role of
self determination is also apparent towards the end of the movie in which the two brothers play
chicken one last time in which Vincent beats his brother once more. Anton yells, Vincent! How are
you doing this Vincent? How have you done any of this? We have to go back. To which Vincent later
replies, You wanna know how I did it? This is how I did it Anton. I never saved anything for the swim
back. This shows that Vincent is 100% dedicated to the task that he is willing to

successor Yao s minister spoke of Shun of Yu and how his respectful, filial, approach towards his
parents helped them to a path of harmony and self control. This brought King Yao s attention to Shun.

Comparing Poems Brave Man And This Living Hand
Interlaced throughout these poems, one theme is shared, and that theme is how longing slowly turns
into death over time. As poets often ask readers to examine more closely the relationship between
seemingly opposite themes. Specifically, poems by Agran, Dunbar, Keats, and Stevens explore the
tension between desire and death. Black Umbrellas is about a new start in life while Why Fades a
Dream is about having a dream and putting it to action. This Living Hand is about enjoying the time
you are alive and not taking life for granted ,however; The Brave Man is about a man that is
personified as a sun and going through fears in his life. Poetry, poetry is a literary work in which is
given to the expression of feelings and ideas by the use of distinctive style and rhythm. Meandering

Movie Review Research Paper
A movie reviewer for a newspaper has the intriguing job of previewing movies, and even the honor of
determining the success of the movie. Today we will discuss more of what this job entails, and even
how you could get this job for yourself. First let us start off with the job description. Movie reviewers
have the job of watching movies before they even come out. Not only can they do this for free, but
they get paid for this. All they need is a love for movies, a natural gift for writing, and a degree in
journalism certainly helps, though not required. Popular movie reviewers get to interview top stars,
producers, and moved directors. Imagine having the chance to interview your favorite movie star or
director. Now you can imagine the appeal of a job as a movie. Movie reviewers have both an
analytical and creative mind. The analytical part to judge parts of the movie such as tone, theme, and
plot focus. While the creative part determines how good the movie is with a personal bias. These
reviews help determine the success of a movie. There is the occasional exception, if the reviews on a
movie are bad, usually the movie does bad in the box office. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

While a major in journalism helps, it is not required. However, the chances of getting a job in this field
at first is slim. An easier way to get started in this field is to just go see new movies, write a review for
them, and post the review online. While you will not get paid at first this is a good way to get enough
experience to be considered for a position at a newspaper. Once you get popular enough companies
might start to invite you to previewing to get your feedback. Just remember add something unique to
your reviews, since the are a lot of people who do this on the internet. You have to stand out of you

The Second World War
Second World War
World War II was one of the greatest struggles humanity has ever seen. This Second World War
caused many lives to be lost, damaged personal properties and was expensive, for a great deal of
money was required to maintain a country s military strength. The numbers for those that have passed,
been wounded or gone missing during the war could never be calculated precisely; though it has been
estimated that more than 55 million lives perished. Many historians have traced the causes of World
War II to the problems left unsolved by the First World War (1914 1918). World War I and the treaties
that ended it also created new political and economic problems. Forceful leaders and dictators in
several countries (Germany, Italy, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many nationalists viewed foreigners and members of minority groups as inferior. Such beliefs helped
nations justify their conquest of other lands and the poor treatment of minorities within their borders.
Nationalism was a chief cause of World War I, and it grew even stronger after that war.
Nationalism went hand in hand with feelings of national displeasure. For instance, many Germans felt
humiliated by their country s defeat in World War I and its harsh treatment under the Treaty of
Versailles. During the 1930 s, they enthusiastically supported an aggressive nationalistic organization
called The Nazi Party. The Nazi Party declared that Germany had a right to become strong again.
Besides Germany nationalism also gained strength in Italy and Japan.
The Peace of Paris established an international organization called The League of Nations to maintain
peace. Each country backed its own interests at the expense of other countries which prevented The
League from working effectively. Therefore only weak countries agreed to submit their disagreements
to The League of Nations for settlement. While strong nations reserved the right to settle their disputes
by threats or force.
The political unrest and poor economic conditions that developed after World War I enabled
dictatorships to arise in several countries. Especially in those countries that lacked a tradition of
democratic government. During the 1920 s and

Justification of Brutus’ Betrayal of William Shakespeare´s...
In William Shakespeare s tragedy Julius Caesar, the character of Marcus Brutus is tasked with making
a difficult choice: either kill one of his most beloved friends, or risk the corruption and downfall of
Rome. Though Brutus acknowledges the ethical and moral concerns of his actions, he commits to the
conspiracy against Caesar, and carries it out with conviction. The question, however, is whether or not
Brutus actions are justifiable from an objective point of view. Unlike most other political
assassinations, Brutus isn t a hysterical stranger distraught with the target, but a close ally, and trusted
friend. Brutus justifies his own doings by convincing himself and others that they re sacrificing, not

concern amongst the Romans, as his attitude an arrogance have reached a critical level, even before

Brutus: However, in the soliloquy in which he decides that Caesar must be murdered (II. i. i0 34) one

Sharks-Personal Narrative
My heart began to beat at a rapid rate, THUMP, THUMP, THUMP. As the scuba diving boat came to a
halt, all I could see was the dark, deep, blue ocean separating me and the island of Dhidhoofinolhu on
the horizon. The day began so simple as my family and I were enjoying breakfast on the shoreline,
admiring the Maldivian sunrise, talking about the plan for the day until my father said, We are going
whale shark diving! At that moment I was delighted, I had always wanted to go swimming with whale
sharks because they are beautiful, harmless creatures. My sister and I immediately ran to the
watersports center of the hotel, scrambling to find the right pair of flippers and scuba masks so that we
could leave promptly. The boat departed at thirteen hundred hours exactly. As I stepped onto the
colorful, traditional Maldivian boat my thoughts began to run wild. As the boat began its thirty minute
course, I also began to think about all the things that could go wrong. For example, I began to think
about how a great white shark would come up from the dark unknown and swallow me whole or bite
my leg off. My thoughts were interrupted by the guide shouting, ... Show more content on

Compare And Contrast William Wallace Vs Braveheart
Braveheart vs. William Wallace
The movie Braveheart, directed by Mel Gibson and released in 1995, is an epic tale about a Scottish
hero named William Wallace. The movie is exceptionally accurate when compared with other
historical movies. However, changes have been made to make the film more entertaining and
romantic. Despite some minor historical glitches, Braveheart is wonderfully composed and really
gives the viewer a good idea of what living in Scotland in the 13th 14th centuries would have been
like.
Braveheart starts out with a young William Wallace whose father, a Scottish patriot, is killed by the
English. He comes back to the village of his birth when he is much older. There, he meets Murron
who he knew from his childhood. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Those actors which weren t already fluent in Gaelic would have had to learn the translation in an effort
to have performed with emotion and feeling. It s hard to act out words that have no meaning to the
actor. Another downfall to a film almost entirely in Gaelic was its audience. The audience for this
production was for the most part English speaking. This fact alone would have called for subtitles. Not
only are subtitles more expensive for the producer, they also make the picture less enjoyable for its
patrons (Braveheart, commentary). This inaccuracy of language can, however be forgiven. The
language was changed for one simple reason, to make the movie more suitable for its viewers.

Examples Of Femininity In The Little Mermaid
The Little Mermaid: Hegemonic Femininity The transition from a girl to a woman is created by the
socially implemented ideals of femininity depicted in commercials, books, and mainly films. One of
the famous animated princess Disney films, The Little Mermaid can be easily added to yet another
Disney film portraying hegemonic femininity. In the 1989 film The Little Mermaid (Ron Clements,
John Musker), a beautiful, young mermaid is willing to make a risky deal with an evil sea witch
because she yearns to walk on land and fall in love with a prince, while secretly the sea witch wishes
for the mermaid to lose the deal. Ultimately, mermaid ends up achieving her dream of marrying the

Eric. She strongly believes she needs him to be happy and that without him she is incapable of doing

family behind. This validates the hegemonic code of femininity because women are seen as
individuals who cannot take care of themselves and are only complete with a man.
After the climax, when the deal has been made with Ursula, Ariel finds herself in a difficult situation.
With only having three days to get a kiss of true love from prince Eric, she undoubtedly needs Eric s
kiss to save her. Getting close to the end of the film, there is a scene where Ariel and Eric are taking a

without men, that they need a hero and prince charming to save

The Liberation of Madame Bovary
The Liberation Madame Bovary
Women have always been seen as the inferior gender.
When women act out of turn they are considered
nontraditional or uncouth. It isn t until recent where
women have stopped worrying about what society thinks of
them. The women s movement in the 1960 s opened the doors
for women to get jobs and feel equal and in some ways
superior to men. Long before women were burning their bras,
long before the women s suffrage movement, centuries ago in
France a man by the name of Gustave Flaubert breathed life
by means of pen and paper into a woman who would be seen as
a disgrace in her time, but just another celebrity in our
present reality. Emma Bovary was an adulteress woman whose
greed jeopardized the well being of her loved ones. Emma
Roualt who is later addressed as Madame Bovary is a woman
who grew up in the country area of France. She is seen as a
young woman who fantasizes about the nicer things in life
and when she is exposed to the lifestyle she finds a way
outside of the norm to obtain what she wants in life. In
the beginning, Madame Bovary is seen as someone who is
ashamed of her country upbringing. She was then lucky
enough to marry and move away to what is seen as a middle
class neighborhood. Later on her actions lead to disgrace,
tragedy, and the overall hurt of her loved ones.

Challenges In Alice Walker s The Color Purple
Oftentimes in life people go through challenges they must face. This is seen in Alice Walker s The
Color Purple, which is a historical novel that takes place in Georgia during the Early 20th Century. In
this text, Celie a young black girl who is abused as a child and married to a man transforms into a
strong women after facing her challenges; Nelie, her sister who was also abused with Celie, ran away
when Celie got married. Having no place to go she ends up with a man and his wife, Samuel and
Corrine who are part of a group called missionaries, of American and African Missionary Society.
Multiple characters face challenges and transform as a result.
For example, Miss Celie at a young age is affected by a challenge that she faces and transforms to get
past her obstacle. As a child she gets raped by her father so she developed a fear of men. Celie winked
at a boy in her church and gets beat by her father; she insist that she didn t wink at him. She says, I
don t even look at mens... I look at women, tho, cause I m not scared of them (5 Walker). Since Celie
has negative experiences with men she is only used to the positive experience with her sister, so she
chooses to neglect men. Even after stating this she still gets beat. Celie faces the challenge of having
and Abusive father who doesn t have respect for her. By not paying attention to what frightens her and
stays where she is hloved which is with women, mainly her sister. This transformation is the result of
the challenges she faced.
Similarly, Sofia, who is married to Harpo starts to feel that her marriage is starting to change she
transforms so she can feel safe and happy. Harpo wants Sofia to listen and do as he says, but Sophia
didn t grow up to obey men; so they get into intense arguments and fights. When Sophia is talking to
Miss Celie she says: I don t like to go to bed with him no more... Now I feels tired all the time. No

Analysis Of As You Like It, A Play Written By William...
As you like it, a play written by William Shakespeare in 1623, is a comical interpretation of the
antithesis that exists between living in nature versus living in a society. The play addresses
philosophical dilemmas that are directly connect to the behavior of the characters. Throughout the
comparison of these two settings, the reader is exposed to various levels of human interaction. The
first one relates to how the characters participate as a community. And the second one approaches
familial relationships that demonstrate individual fluctuations depending of where the characters
interact. To capture this theme, the author relies on the use of juxtaposition and dynamic characters.
Consequently, Shakespeare highlights the irony of human behavior by exposing dynamic characters to
two different settings, The Forest of Arden and the Court. The play ultimately suggests that interacting
with nature creates a utopian society that contrasts with a hierarchical court, thus demonstrating how
the characters can reinvent themselves in roles that were inaccessible to them before. Initially, the play
begins by introducing a familial conflict between two brothers, Orlando and Oliver. Orlando is the
starting character of the play and his dialogue describes how his brother treats him. He states that, My
brother...keeps me rustically at home (4). He continues emphasizing the evilness of his brother s
treatment by mentioning that horses are bred better (4) and how animals on

Cause And Effects Of Texting And Driving
Does it seem like everywhere you go people are preoccupied with texting? Often people are seen with
the cell phone in one hand and texting while walking, in a restaurant eating with friends, working or
shopping. It has become a part of everyday life. The convenience and the need to stay connected has
made texting a useful method of communicating, that has increased dramatically with teenagers.
According to Dr. Delgado, Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at Perelman School of
Medicine, Adolescents report that texting is the most common way that they stay in contact with
friends, sending an average of a hundred texts per day (para. 1). This includes texting while driving.
The effects of distracted driving from texting include legal penalties, increase in insurance premiums,
motor vehicle crashes, and even death. Texting while driving has become a major problem in the
United State and a simple LOL can have serious consequences. The main cause of the texting craze is
the ability to send and receive quick messages. It is simpler than making a phone call and getting
caught up in a conversion when your time is limited. It also allows you to share and respond instantly
so there is a sense of always being connected to peers. Texting has become more popular than talking
on the phone or even face to face. So much so that texting has become the way that adolescents forge
social bonds, and texting between adolescents often serves to promote social cohesion in peer groups

The Physical Effects of Fear
Fear is an emotion that most everyone is familiar with. The psychological effects of fear are readily
apparent but many people are unaware of the physical effects. Some of these are major; others are so
minor they go unnoticed. The philosopher Jiddu Krishnamurti who lived during the 20th century said
What is needed, rather than running away or controlling or suppressing or any other resistance, is
understanding fear; that means, watch it, learn about it, come directly into contact with it. We are to
learn about fear, not how to escape from it. Understanding the physiology of fear may provide a
foundation for better coping and treatment strategies in the future.

Since anxiety is experienced commonly, it is important to be aware of the body s response. These
effects are completely normal, and act as a natural coping method of the body. The physical response
to phobias is a bit more extreme. The basic, minor effects begin with sweating, trembling, hot flashes
or chills, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, a choking sensation, rapid heartbeat, chest pain or
a feeling of tightness in the chest, and a sensation of butterflies in the stomach. These increase to
symptoms such as nausea, headaches and dizziness, feeling faint numbness or pins and needles, dry
mouth, ringing in your ears, and feeling confused or disorientated. Paranoia is similar, but manifests
itself through mainly psychological effects. Terror differs from anxiety and phobia in that there may
be lasting physical effects. The immediate response is an adrenaline rush called the fight or flight
response. When this is triggered, the person experiencing this intense fear will either face the problem
head on, or run from the cause of the terror. The short term effects (those that last for a few days or
weeks) are the body s way of dealing with a particularly frightening trauma.
These feelings are those that each person tends to be aware of whenever a situation goes wrong in
their lives, and the feelings should seem

Descriptive Essay Beach
Have you ever had everything before you play out in slow motion, where you are aware of everything
around you, yet don t knowing what is going on? I have. In the movies, when someone is drowning, it
s loud and splashy, someone yelling for help and waving their arms, they are dipping below the harsh
currents of the waves and coming back up in a dramatic fashion while those who are standing by
scramble to rescue them. Yeah, it doesn t really go down like that. Drowning is silent, movements are
subtle; they rarely make any noise at all. One minute, they re trying to keep their head above the
water, and then next minute, they re gone. What began as a simple day at beach became a near death
experience, which has enlightened me and ultimately redirected the entire course of my life.
When my family and I decided to go the beach on Labor Day, I was not thrilled to go all. As I child, I
always hated the beach. I mean no offense it s a pretty cool place and it s also an essential part of life
with a massive pool full of animals that are really adorable. But, sand gets everywhere. And I mean
everywhere. It s in your hair, it s stuck to your butt, it s between your toes and when you go to to
leave, no matter how many times you make trips down to the beach showers to wash off your sandy
feet, it s impossible to tread back up the beach and all the way to your car without collecting at least a
shoe full of sand along the way. The beach for me is just straight up boring. There is no appeal

How Is Harry Potter Related To Religion
The mind is not a book, to be opened at will and examined at leisure. Thoughts are not etched on the
inside of skulls, to be perused by an invader. The mind is a complex and many layered thing. (Severus
Snape, Book five.) The book series entitled Harry Potter has Biblical themes hidden beneath all of the
spells, charms, and enchantments. Harry Potter, in my own opinion, is very Christ like and I feel like
the book series could be looked at like a modernized version of the bible. He resembles Jesus Christ in
multiple ways. J.K Rowling has subtly featured religious symbolism in her books such as, Harry dying
for the wizarding world much like Jesus died willingly for our sins. After they died, they were both
resurrected. Fawkes, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The presence of a phoenix reinforces the underlying theme of conquering death by embracing life, just
like Harry and Jesus did.
Harry and Jesus know a lot about Sacrifice and selflessness. All of the characters in the Harry Potter
series experiences sacrificial love. Hermione Granger, one of Harry s two sidekicks throughout his
school years, has to obliviate her parents minds because she doesn t want them getting hurt. Her
mother and father are both muggles, therefore Voldemort would find them and murder them. Ronald
Weasley, Harry s other sidekick, sacrifices himself in a game of Wizard s Chess for Hermione and
Harry in their first year at Hogwarts. Dobby the house elf, who has saved Harry s life on many
occasion, sacrificed his life to save Harry, Ron, Hermione, Luna Lovegood and Mr. Olivander out of
pure love and friendship. Harry s mother and father, Lily and James Potter, sacrificed their selves for
their only son just like Jesus Christ sacrificed his body for us and he sacrificed his life on earth for us.
Both Harry and Jesus did such a selfless thing for the people they loved and cared for.
Every character from the bible resembles a person from the bible. Harry resembles Jesus because he s

Theme Of Evil In Beowulf
Beowulf versus Evil Heroes can be in our everyday life or someone you ve seen only once but all of
our heroes have something in common. Their heroic traits make up who they are and some character
traits my heroes have in common are kindness, courage, intelligence, and empathy. Beowulf is also a
hero in my eyes because he possesses all of these traits and more. What traits do your heroes have in
common? Robert Nye s long poem, Beowulf: a New Telling, is a fictional long poem about a hero,
Beowulf, who constantly battles the face of evil in many forms. The theme of this text is about good
vs. evil which shows up many times, one after another. To start, Beowulf as a young warrior portrayed
many traits of a hero such as brave and fearless ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bravery is an important character trait for heroes in order to help them defeat other monsters/ evil and
this is still the same for Beowulf as he defeats Grendel s reincarnation. Therefore, when Beowulf was
a young warrior, he had many character traits of a hero including being gallant, confident, and bold.
Continuing on, Beowulf as an older king has traits different from Beowulf as a young warrior such as
cunning and selfless which fuels my reason of why Beowulf is a dynamic character. For example,
Beowulf is strategic as he devises a plan involving bees against the Firedrake and so Beowulf releases
the Queen Bee just as, The Firedrake took a deep breath and swallowed [it] (98 103). During this
ordeal, Beowulf cunningly creates a plan to defeat the Firedrake by releasing the Queen Bee into the
mouth in which the rest of the bees follow, stinging the Firedrake from the inside. The word clever
means able to use your intelligence to do something, especially in a slightly dishonest way (Longman
dictionary, 178). Beowulf is dynamic because whilst Beowulf was a young warrior, he would have
never thought to attempt this. Beowulf needed this trait as an older king because he would have never
been able to finish off the Firedrake if he wasn t cunning. Additionally, Beowulf is caring as he says,
The Firedrake will pay for what it has done not only with its life, but with the gold he keeps watch

Importance Of Social Networks In Society
Society, Social Interaction, Groups, and Organization Social Networks and their Importance
According to Nicholas Christakis, social networks are like the pairs of people connected. Through his
studies, he realized that socially connected people get embedded in other sorts of relationships such as
marriage, friendship, or even spousal. He discovered that these connections are vast, and all of us are
embedded in the broader set of relationships with each other. Therefore, social networks are the
complex things of beauty that are so elaborate, so sophisticated and so ubiquitous. In his video,
Christakis outlined the importance of social networks with adequate examples. One of the benefits is
the emotional contagion, which is the phenomenon of another person s emotions or behaviors
triggering similar emotions and response in other people. He elaborated this by performing an obesity
epidemic, where he discovered that there is the probability of a person being obese given that a social
contact of his/her friend is overweight. That is, if your friend is obese, there is the risk of you being
obese too, as you will be involved in doing activities that make your friend overweight. Another
benefit is that social connections are essential for the spread of valuable and useful things such as
happiness, kindness, love, altruism, and ideas. In his video, Christakis stated that if individuals realize
how valuable social networks are, they could spend a lot of their time nourishing and

against the global distribution giant, Sabre (Koenig, 2011). Sabre was actually created by American
Airlines but later spun off as a separate company (Koenig, 2011). American also sued Travelport for
using monopoly tactics and burying their flight information (Koenig, 2011). With Travelport
accounting for nearly $2.7 billion of American s ticket sales last year, it is hard to see where the

Effects Of Government Corruption
Government Corruption Political Corruption is has a drastic effect on every American Citizen.
Corruption is defined as a form of unethical or dishonest conduct by an individual who is in a position
of authority. Corruption has detrimental effects and undermines every level of government. Various
forms of corruption effect the Government. Corruption such as Law Enforcement, Judicial, and
Correctional. In order for our justice system to work, we as citizens must have faith that it is impartial,

system can have disastrous effects not only on the system but the lives of citizens. The most notable
form of corruption found in the justice system is Law Enforcement Corruption. Law Enforcement

bribery, extortion, and misconduct. Bribery is when one person guarantees an outcome of a situation
in exchange for goods, services or money. Extortion is similar is the act of obtaining something by
utilizing force or blackmail. Abuse of Power is the act of using one s authority in a way that is
detrimental to others. In the instance of Law Enforcement, it is usually used to describe excessive
physical violence to individuals (The Week Staff). Instances of Police Brutality and Abuse of Power
have increased in the news since the March 1991 of Rodney King by the Los Angeles Police
Department. However, since the 90 s, this abuse has escalated to murder. On April 5, 2015, in North
Charleston, South Carolina Patrolman Michael Slager pulled over Walter Scott for driving with a
broken brake light. Scott then fled the scene on foot and was fatally shot eight times. Slager was
charged with murder after cellphone footage proved he shot Scott as he was fleeing the scene
(Swaine). In May of 2017, Slager pled guilty to the use of excessive force and awaits sentencing
(Balchunas). With the escalation of racial tension in this country, it is vital that police brutality be dealt
with. It is important for every person in this country to feel safe and protected by police forces.

Self regulation of care; refers to maintaining attention in the immediate experience without seeking

Sustained Attention: maintain a waking state for extended periods of time.
Attentional change: bring attention to the breath when you recognize the thoughts, feelings or

The radical acceptance component, which Bishop includes in the orientation to experience, is probably
the most essential component of the experience of mindfulness to the client at a therapeutic level. This
radical acceptance recalls, with all possible nuances, Ellis s distinction in his REBT (Rational Emotive

Typically the individual experiences misplaced feelings and attempts to place blame. The third stage
of grief is bargaining in which the individual is able to recognize that the circumstances cannot be
undone, but are still unable to accept what has occurred. The fourth stage of grief is depression where
the individual begins to comprehend the permanence of death and often disconnects in an attempt to
avoid retraumatization. Lastly, the fifth stage of grief is acceptance. It is during this stage that the
individual comes to terms with their loss and resumes stability (Kubler Ross, 1969). While grief and
bereavement are often a very personal, individualized experience it is important to note the influence,
both negative and positive that the family system holds. Familial composition, circumstances and
environment are all factors that possess the potential to influence the course of bereavement.

grieving in an empty room, but this empty room gets her the idea that she is now free. When the storm
of grief had spent she went to her room alone. She would have no one follow her (Chopin 144). This
shows that the protagonist is grieving over her husband s death and is wanting to be isolated.

Idiocracy Analysis
Idiocracy For a movie that had almost no marketing done for it and was released in theaters in only six
cities, Mike Judge s Idiocracy, released in 2006, has become an extremely successful movie. Fox sat
on the movie for over a year before finally releasing it in theaters. It didn t even have so much as a
movie trailer or an official movie poster. When Idiocracy did finally hit the theaters, the movie was
only shown for two weeks. And shortly after that it went right to DVD, still without much marketing
at all. A movie treated like that is usually because it s not any good, but in spite of all that Idiocracy
has become a cult classic and is known as one of Mike Judge s best creations. If you are a fan of any
of Mike Judge s other work like Office Space, Beavis and Butt head or Daria then you will definitely
enjoy Idiocracy. It does not hold back on any of the satirical humor that Judge is known for. It pokes
fun at society and how it can feel like we re getting dumber. It also targets large corporations and how
they re growing and controlling more and more of people s everyday lives. If you were never a fan
Beavis and Butthead and couldn t get over how incredibly stupid the two boys were, than this movie
may not be for you. Judge uses this similar low brow humor to make his point about different flaws in
society and exaggerate some of the effects it could have on the future.
Idiocracy takes a different look at your usual future dystopia than we usually see. Instead of a
technologically advanced intelligent society or a post apocalyptic wasteland we see more of a dumbed
down corporate ran society. The idea is that while all of the intelligent people were having less kids so
they can focus on creating things and contributing to society, the dumber people were off making lots
of children. After years of this, it eventually leads to the whole world becoming filled with stupid
people. Joe Bauers is chosen for a military experiment because he is the most average guy the army

The Conflict Of The South China Sea Threatens Us China...
The main point of the article is that the ongoing conflict in the South China Sea threatens US China
relations and, if not resolved, will lead to instability in the region. The author s solution to this is that
leaders of both countries work together to achieve a better understanding of the concerns coming from
both sides, as well as lay out consequences for certain actions and to commit themselves to avoiding
further escalation. This is tricky because neither country wants to look like it is giving in to the other,
but at the same time some concessions must be made. Recently, China announced they would be
shifting away from the dredging of land towards the construction of military bases and other facilities
for civilian use. China unilaterally started the land reclamation and now China is unilaterally stopping
it...China is showing that as a major power it can control escalation, that it has the initiative, and that it
can do what it sees fit for its interests. This is a way for them to de escalate the tension with the US
while reassuring their citizens that they did not bow to American military pressure. A Chinese official
stated that the reclamation efforts were necessary because China was feeling insecure about enhanced
US defense cooperation with other nations such as the Philippines . Allowing Japan to go on joint

  • 2. Camera Angles In The Blind Side The Blind Side is a movie about a young black boy named Michael who grew up in a rough area with not much to look forward to. He always had to worry about being in danger, his family doing drugs, and even being homeless, until one day he was at a high school volleyball game picking up left over snacks from the bleachers when an upper class white family noticed him. After the game, they saw him walking on the sidewalk along the road outside the school and asked him where he was staying. He was planning on going to the gym where it was warm so they offered to take him home for a warm and dry place to sleep. He took the offer and slept on the couch, the family ended up getting him through high school and officially adopted him. He had big offers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... No matter the condition around Michael he always seemed to overcome it. This theme is very useful, not only in the movie but can be taken from the movie and could be used in others lives. The movie all came together in the use of camera angles/shots, color, lighting, sounds/music, and narration. Without any of these devises the movie wouldn t give off an emotional message or the same message. Camera angles and shots were used throughout the movie to show emotion because the movie is based on a true story. During the movie, they show flashbacks of cop cars and Michael being taken away when he was just a young child because of the terrible things going on around him, they showed these clips so that the audience would understand the situation that Michael was in. The film maker also decided to put camera shots of the original family so that the audience would feel more attached. Color was used throughout the film a lot to show positive, and gloomy places. When Michael went back to the condo where his biological mom lived, and where all the terrible things happened, there was a lot of blacks, greys, and browns. When Michael was back at his adoptive family s house there was a lot of bright colors used throughout the house making the house seem like a positive place. • 3. Analyzing Hilda Doolittle s Poem Helen HELENNNNNN Helen of Troy is a prominent character in Greek mythology who is known for her beauty which caused the Trojan War. She is often viewed as a one dimensional character who singularly represents beauty. However, in Hilda Doolittle s poem entitled Helen , she uses an analysis of the image of Helen to support feminism. Her poem, written with three stanzas, describes a change in Helen s personal state in order to emphasize the negative effects of assuming that beauty indicates an absence of personality. Doolittle begins by describing, in simple terms, Greece s unanimous hate towards the character Helen, whose beauty tears apart Greece. By describing Helen as still and white, Doolittle conveys strong imagery of a conspicuous lack of motion. All Greece hates / the still eyes in the white face... where she stands... (H.D. 2 4). Helen, who is described as white and standing, appears very statuesque and immobile to readers. Interestingly, her eyes are said to have a lustre as of olives . ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 6). Here the verb has changed noticeably from hates to reviles , indicating the Greeks increased intensity of negative emotions towards Helen. Furthermore, Greece reacts with disgust to Helen s smile, creating the sense that Greece wants to deny Helen all movement, feelings, and life. The Greeks are said to hate her even more when she remembers past enchantments / and past ills (H.D. 10 11). Helen is likely remembering Troy, where her actions destroyed Greece. Calling the Trojan War a past ill for Helen is a direct contrast to the unsaid ills the Greeks suffered in the same war, which were much greater, at least in terms of life and death. Greece seems to think that whenever Helen does anything, she causes trouble or reminds people of the trouble she has caused. In fact, this stanza conveys the sense that Greece hate when Helen does anything but stand ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I sprinted towards the statue to get a better look and Alfred was following behind me telling me to wait up. After the conversation, Alfred said he was celebrating his birthday by himself. He had a sad look when I asked him about celebrating with his friends and family so I guess he really was celebrating alone. Poor guy and he s a cheerful one too. Feeling sorry for him I offered him to tag along with me on my Fourth of July expedition to the statue. He objected it at first because he doesn t want to get in my way, but as I was travelling alone, I change his mind. Really, dudette! I won t get in your way? No, of course not. • 6. Gattaca Self Determination Essay The role of self determination is quite present throughout multiple scenes within the movie involving Vincent and his brother competing in their own swimming contest dubbed Chicken in which they attempt to out swim the other. Initially, Anton outswims brother in almost every race because of his innate physical advantages not due to his determination as throughout Anton s life he never had to try due to him being a valid. Though Vincent eventually succeeds and beats his brother in chicken as through sheer determination as unlike Anton, Vincent was constantly told that he was naturally inferior. Every time he swam against Anton, he put in all his effort. This is the first demonstration of the role of self determination within the film as despite losing almost every time Vincent does not lose hope but instead becomes more determined than before. This proves to Vincent that if he is capable of beating his valid brother, he is able to fulfil his dream of becoming an astronaut at Gattaca. The role of self determination is also apparent towards the end of the movie in which the two brothers play chicken one last time in which Vincent beats his brother once more. Anton yells, Vincent! How are you doing this Vincent? How have you done any of this? We have to go back. To which Vincent later replies, You wanna know how I did it? This is how I did it Anton. I never saved anything for the swim back. This shows that Vincent is 100% dedicated to the task that he is willing to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As poets often ask readers to examine more closely the relationship between seemingly opposite themes. This Second World War caused many lives to be lost, damaged personal properties and was expensive, for a great deal of money was required to maintain a country s military strength. The numbers for those that have passed, been wounded or gone missing during the war could never be calculated precisely; though it has been estimated that more than 55 million lives perished. Many historians have traced the causes of World War II to the problems left unsolved by the First World War (1914 1918). World War I and the treaties that ended it also created new political and economic problems. Forceful leaders and dictators in several countries (Germany, Italy, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many nationalists viewed foreigners and members of minority groups as inferior. Such beliefs helped nations justify their conquest of other lands and the poor treatment of minorities within their borders. Nationalism was a chief cause of World War I, and it grew even stronger after that war. Nationalism went hand in hand with feelings of national displeasure. For instance, many Germans felt humiliated by their country s defeat in World War I and its harsh treatment under the Treaty of Versailles. During the 1930 s, they enthusiastically supported an aggressive nationalistic organization called The Nazi Party. The Nazi Party declared that Germany had a right to become strong again. Besides Germany nationalism also gained strength in Italy and Japan. The Peace of Paris established an international organization called The League of Nations to maintain peace. Each country backed its own interests at the expense of other countries which prevented The League from working effectively. In William Shakespeare s tragedy Julius Caesar, the character of Marcus Brutus is tasked with making a difficult choice: either kill one of his most beloved friends, or risk the corruption and downfall of Rome. Though Brutus acknowledges the ethical and moral concerns of his actions, he commits to the conspiracy against Caesar, and carries it out with conviction. The question, however, is whether or not Brutus actions are justifiable from an objective point of view. Unlike most other political assassinations, Brutus isn t a hysterical stranger distraught with the target, but a close ally, and trusted friend. Caesar also states that he has no equals amongst his people, effectively raising himself above his former peers and almost comically making him a target his assassination, which comes shortly after this event. As the scuba diving boat came to a halt, all I could see was the dark, deep, blue ocean separating me and the island of Dhidhoofinolhu on the horizon. The day began so simple as my family and I were enjoying breakfast on the shoreline, admiring the Maldivian sunrise, talking about the plan for the day until my father said, We are going whale shark diving! At that moment I was delighted, I had always wanted to go swimming with whale sharks because they are beautiful, harmless creatures. My sister and I immediately ran to the watersports center of the hotel, scrambling to find the right pair of flippers and scuba masks so that we could leave promptly. The boat departed at thirteen hundred hours exactly. As I stepped onto the colorful, traditional Maldivian boat my thoughts began to run wild. The movie is exceptionally accurate when compared with other historical movies. However, changes have been made to make the film more entertaining and romantic. Despite some minor historical glitches, Braveheart is wonderfully composed and really gives the viewer a good idea of what living in Scotland in the 13th 14th centuries would have been like. • 21. Analysis Of As You Like It, A Play Written By William... As you like it, a play written by William Shakespeare in 1623, is a comical interpretation of the antithesis that exists between living in nature versus living in a society. The play addresses philosophical dilemmas that are directly connect to the behavior of the characters. Throughout the comparison of these two settings, the reader is exposed to various levels of human interaction. The first one relates to how the characters participate as a community. And the second one approaches familial relationships that demonstrate individual fluctuations depending of where the characters interact. To capture this theme, the author relies on the use of juxtaposition and dynamic characters. Consequently, Shakespeare highlights the irony of human behavior by exposing dynamic characters to two different settings, The Forest of Arden and the Court. The play ultimately suggests that interacting with nature creates a utopian society that contrasts with a hierarchical court, thus demonstrating how the characters can reinvent themselves in roles that were inaccessible to them before. Initially, the play begins by introducing a familial conflict between two brothers, Orlando and Oliver. Orlando is the starting character of the play and his dialogue describes how his brother treats him. He states that, My brother...keeps me rustically at home (4). Bravery is an important character trait for heroes in order to help them defeat other monsters/ evil and this is still the same for Beowulf as he defeats Grendel s reincarnation. Therefore, when Beowulf was a young warrior, he had many character traits of a hero including being gallant, confident, and bold. Continuing on, Beowulf as an older king has traits different from Beowulf as a young warrior such as cunning and selfless which fuels my reason of why Beowulf is a dynamic character. For example, Beowulf is strategic as he devises a plan involving bees against the Firedrake and so Beowulf releases the Queen Bee just as, The Firedrake took a deep breath and swallowed [it] (98 103). During this ordeal, Beowulf cunningly creates a plan to defeat the Firedrake by releasing the Queen Bee into the mouth in which the rest of the bees follow, stinging the Firedrake from the inside. The word clever means able to use your intelligence to do something, especially in a slightly dishonest way (Longman dictionary, 178). He discovered that these connections are vast, and all of us are embedded in the broader set of relationships with each other. Therefore, social networks are the complex things of beauty that are so elaborate, so sophisticated and so ubiquitous. In his video, Christakis outlined the importance of social networks with adequate examples. One of the benefits is the emotional contagion, which is the phenomenon of another person s emotions or behaviors triggering similar emotions and response in other people. He elaborated this by performing an obesity epidemic, where he discovered that there is the probability of a person being obese given that a social contact of his/her friend is overweight. That is, if your friend is obese, there is the risk of you being obese too, as you will be involved in doing activities that make your friend overweight. Typically the individual experiences misplaced feelings and attempts to place blame. The third stage of grief is bargaining in which the individual is able to recognize that the circumstances cannot be undone, but are still unable to accept what has occurred. The fourth stage of grief is depression where the individual begins to comprehend the permanence of death and often disconnects in an attempt to avoid retraumatization. Lastly, the fifth stage of grief is acceptance. It is during this stage that the individual comes to terms with their loss and resumes stability (Kubler Ross, 1969). While grief and bereavement are often a very personal, individualized experience it is important to note the influence, both negative and positive that the family system holds. Familial composition, circumstances and environment are all factors that possess the potential to influence the course of bereavement. Attachment and Systems Theory Attachment is commonly defined as an emotional bond that connects two people (Ma, 2006; McLeod, 2009). ADD. • 38. Idiocracy Analysis Idiocracy For a movie that had almost no marketing done for it and was released in theaters in only six cities, Mike Judge s Idiocracy, released in 2006, has become an extremely successful movie. Fox sat on the movie for over a year before finally releasing it in theaters. It didn t even have so much as a movie trailer or an official movie poster. When Idiocracy did finally hit the theaters, the movie was only shown for two weeks. And shortly after that it went right to DVD, still without much marketing at all. A movie treated like that is usually because it s not any good, but in spite of all that Idiocracy has become a cult classic and is known as one of Mike Judge s best creations. If you are a fan of any of Mike Judge s other work like Office Space, Beavis and Butt head or Daria then you will definitely enjoy Idiocracy. It does not hold back on any of the satirical humor that Judge is known for. It pokes fun at society and how it can feel like we re getting dumber. It also targets large corporations and how they re growing and controlling more and more of people s everyday lives. If you were never a fan Beavis and Butthead and couldn t get over how incredibly stupid the two boys were, than this movie may not be for you. Judge uses this similar low brow humor to make his point about different flaws in society and exaggerate some of the effects it could have on the future. Idiocracy takes a different look at your usual future dystopia than we usually see. Instead of a technologically advanced intelligent society or a post apocalyptic wasteland we see more of a dumbed down corporate ran society. The idea is that while all of the intelligent people were having less kids so they can focus on creating things and contributing to society, the dumber people were off making lots of children. After years of this, it eventually leads to the whole world becoming filled with stupid people. Joe Bauers is chosen for a military experiment because he is the most average guy the army has to offer, along with Rita, a prostitute who works for a pimp named Upgrayedd. The two of them are put into hibernation for what was supposed to be only a year. But unfortunately when the experiment becomes forgotten about and the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. The Conflict Of The South China Sea Threatens Us China... The main point of the article is that the ongoing conflict in the South China Sea threatens US China relations and, if not resolved, will lead to instability in the region. The author s solution to this is that leaders of both countries work together to achieve a better understanding of the concerns coming from both sides, as well as lay out consequences for certain actions and to commit themselves to avoiding further escalation. This is tricky because neither country wants to look like it is giving in to the other, but at the same time some concessions must be made. Recently, China announced they would be shifting away from the dredging of land towards the construction of military bases and other facilities for civilian use. China unilaterally started the land reclamation and now China is unilaterally stopping it...China is showing that as a major power it can control escalation, that it has the initiative, and that it can do what it sees fit for its interests. This is a way for them to de escalate the tension with the US while reassuring their citizens that they did not bow to American military pressure. A Chinese official stated that the reclamation efforts were necessary because China was feeling insecure about enhanced US defense cooperation with other nations such as the Philippines . Allowing Japan to go on joint patrol of the South China Sea has also aggravated China. The article makes a good point that Japan has no territorial claims to the region, and its security ...
