coalition loyalty programs, members can earn and redeem points by shopping at participating
merchants (e.g., Exxon, Macys, Rite Aid and ATT.) The program helps consumers to earn rewards
faster and lead to a higher level of engagement with a program which provides merchants an
opportunity to attract new customers and run cross promotional campaigns. However, the biggest
challenge in launching the program was signing up merchants and building an economic case for
shifting away from proprietary to collaborative program.
AXP was in negotiations with Rite Aid to join the program. Under their old loyalty program
(Wellness+), Rite Aid issued reward dollars (+UPs).The dollars could be used for purchase within
their stores over next two weeks, while in Plenti program the points (1 point = 1 cents) are valid

This article provides the argument that the Governor of Louisiana, Governor Jindhal, plans to
charge the recipients of food stamp benefits in his county with fraud is justified if they abused the
system during a mechanical shut down. Apparently when the food stamp system shut down, it no
longer recognized the available balance on benefit cards. As a result, active participants were not
only allowed to use their cards for an unrestricted amount well beyond their available limit, but
those who were no longer active participants were allowed to use their cards for an unrestricted
amount as well.
The governor s administration is suggesting that the minimum penalty would be 12 months off the
program to a maximum penalty of permanently removed from the program. Apparently, there is an
emergency protocol for stores to set an emergency spending limit of $50 to food stamp card holders
should the system shut down. Many of the larger merchants such as Wal Mart chose not to honor
the emergency limit and instead of rejecting use of the cards, they allowed unlimited use. Millholon
(2013) stated, More than 12,000 transactions generated insufficient funds notice once the electronic
benefits transfer, or EBT, system came back online Oct. 12, 2013 and retailers could process stored

Like everyone else in my family, I was born in Yerevan, Armenia. My parents decided to move
our family to the United States in 2000 to live with my grandfather on my mom s side. We left
our entire family in Armenia to be able to have a better life in the United States. Armenia was a
soviet nation and when the USSR collapsed, so did most of Armenias economy. People struggled to
make money and life there quickly became very hard. My parents always tell me stories of when
my brother and I were babies and what our familyhad to do to be able to provide food and clothes

live in the city lives in ore rural areas that were referred to villages since they were
underdeveloped. People in the city lived in apartments. It was very common for people to live
