Essay about My Bedroom
My house is quite large. It has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen, two living rooms, a
dining room, a special games room and a big front and back garden. My favourite rooms is my
bedroom. I love it because it is the only room in my house where I can lock myself away from
the rest of the world. After a long day, all i want to do is go up tom my cosy bedroom and either
listen to some mellow music, or lie down, unwind and watch a bit of T.V or maybe even a
relaxing film. My bedroom is a very special and different room. Thriugh the day it s a relaxing
sanctuary but through the night where all my wildest dream and fantasy s can be let loose into the
tender world. Monsters need to be killed and damsels need to be saved. All the... Show more content

My favourite thing to do in my bedroom is jump on my bed and once when my friends came to
sleep over we had a game to see who could jump and make their head touch the ceiling and
naturally I won but my little sister would burst in without knocking and see what we was doing
and ofcourse the first thing she did was say Im telling mum in her little whining annoying voice
and run down the stair and tell my mum. So it was a long time i had to wait to have another
sleepover. In the corner you can see the fairies and pixies fighting over the pizza i was eating
yesterday which is infact my favourite food. The design of the rooms is very unique like
everything has been put in a place for a reason. The oldest think i can remember here is the sofa
which i bought 2 years ago. I remember when we first bought it, the smile on my face and the
arguing between my dad and brother. Go left, Go left he would yell. Ahh good times. It used to
be clean but the constant food i would eat on it could have changed that. Like most teenagers i
have many posters on my walls mostly of role models that I admire, favourite teams and a few
cute girls here and there. The most visible thing here is probably the red carpet that covers the
bedroom as far as your eyes can see. In the corner of my bedroom is my desk which I normally do
all of my homework and assignments, On top of it sat my computer which is always on. My
previous desk somehow broke and

Occupational Therapy Vs Family Systems Model
The foundation of everything falls into the therapist parent/caregiver relationship. The occupational
therapist has to build a strong relationship with the parent/ caregiver to get their trust and support
for the services they are going to provide to their child (Brown Stoffel, 2011). The two have to
work together for the child to get the most benefits from the therapy. Although in some aspects the
occupational therapist may know what is best for the child, they have to be able to respect and
take into consideration the parents feelings and desires. The caregiver/parent also has to be
observant of the child s actions at home to be able to tell the therapist if they believe the
interventions are helping the child (Brown Stoffel, 2011).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The sense of balance and normalcy for an autistic child really helps the individual out (Brown
Stoffel, 2011). Occupational therapists look at the family s activities during the day and creates
for them a routine that could bring normalcy for the child. With that routine creates balance in their
lives and the routine becomes a ritual for the family in which they all have a specific role in
(Brown Stoffel, 2011). When a routine is set, it is best if the occupational therapist can complete the
therapy session within the daily routine. If the appointment is scheduled outside of the routine, this
can cause the balance to be offset for the child, which in the end is not beneficial (Ferran,

The Importance Of English Literature
High school has been my most treasurable experience so far; a time where I have learnt about a
range of topics and developed the skills to view things from a personal perspective. For this, I
owe a great thanks to all my English teachers; especially Mrs Hinds, who is here with us today
and Mrs Lyndon, who helped prepare us for our final stretch of school. While preparing for this
speech, when I read the assessments from the past two years, it surprised me to realise how
much I had missed the point of each of the tasks. Only now while nearing the end this twelve
year part of my life, have I realised the importance of each individual topic. I realised that no
other subject has delved into such a range of diverse matters from the present and past. Just as in
Harper Lee s quote from To Kill a Mockingbird : People generally see what they look for and hear
what they listen for . What I missed were the fascinating features of our culture, encapsulated in
varying English literature; which of course, were obvious when studying the works of Shakespeare
or of the Romantic poets of the eighteenth and nineteenth century. But only after my interest in the
subject spiked was I able to understand that I was missing deeper aspects hidden within all types of
literature. [linking sentence] A form of literature I used to enjoy in its most meaningless state was
music. Without giving it a second thought, I used to view music as empty entertainment until we
analysed a song and poem for The Beat

Addiction In The Moonstone
Although the word addiction is never presented in The Moonstone, it plays a prominent role in the
novel. The author Wilkie Collins himself was a laudanum addict, taking it to alleviate his painful
affliction of gout. This may explain the theme in his novel and the sympathetic treatment of addicts,
during a time when addictionwas not recognized as a brain disorder, but rather as a moral failing.
Much like Collins, Ezra is not a bad person, but simply addicted to a substance he cannot quit
taking. Featured in the novel are both opium and tobacco addiction.
The first mention of opium addiction in The Moonstone refers to John Herncastle or the wicked
Colonel. While describing his alleged depravity and low character, one of the rumors mentions ...

Jennings is a doctor that has become addicted to opium after a decade long struggle with an
incurable internal complaint. The excruciating pain this illness has wracked has body with
made opium a necessity. He describes opium as an all potent and all merciful drug. Referring to
his addiction, he says to Franklin, But even the virtues of opium have their limit. The progress
of the disease has gradually forced me from the use of opium to the abuse of it. This is a
surprising sentiment acknowledged by a medical professional as this book was written in 1868.
According to Daily Life in Victorian England, Not until the end of the century did doctors begin
warning about the dangers of addiction (202 203). This remarkable view is likely because of
Collins first hand experience with addiction, rather than medical community s expressed sentiment.
Even more astonishing is Jennings later comment on the perception of opium. The ignorant distrust
of opium (in England) is by no means confined to the lower and less cultivated classes. Every
doctor in large practice finds himself, every now and then, obliged to deceive his patients. Despite
his addiction to the drug, Jennings seems to still accredit it as an important

The Tales Of The Heike Analysis
Option 2
War has been a constant deterrent in humanities pursuit for peace. Many innocent people are
affected and persecuted in horrendous ways, and may even ask why is this happening to them.
However in The Tales of the Heike, the losers know exactly why they are losing and suffering.
This warrior tale tells the story of the Genji clan having the advantage over the Heike clan in war.
They believe it was all due to their leader, Chancellor Kiyomori, abusing his power and obtaining
bad karma not only for himself but also for his clan as well. But instead of the story showing how
triumphant and righteous the victors are, it instead written in a certain tone and has imagery that
invokes the reader to sympathize with the losing side. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example. as the Genji were getting closer to the capital the Heike had to leave their homes
which they have lived in for generations. The Heike leaders were able to flee the capital with all
of their family but for commoners they had to leave them behind. It is then described that, those
departing and those left behind alike should wet their sleeves with tears (1296). This personally
invokes an image of a child wiping his tears away with their sleeve, in both the young and old, as
they see their loved ones leaving for the last time. So you really have to sympathize with the
Heike because the innocent people are affected more than their leaders. Later on as the Heike
flee from their home and burned the imperial palace, it also described their surroundings as, the
dawn cries of deer... [and] the moon reflected in the tears on their sleeves (1297). The tone set can
be said that it is melancholic and it provides a clear image of how not only are they saddened by
this, but also

The Dark Knight Character Analysis
According to a Russian proverb, God makes the priests. Jesters come from the devil. You won t
have any trouble believing that aphorism when you see Heath Ledger s mesmerizing performance
as the Joker in The Dark Knight, Christopher Nolan s masterpiece and one of the highest grossing
films of all time. Batmanis no longer just a comic book, but a story that become engrossing and
unfolds into a haunting tragedy. With great performances by the entire major and supporting cast
the movie creates characters that we care and give audiences of all stripes something to satisfy
them. In the Dark KnightBatman is not just a good guy is a good guy because he does good things
story but in fact a story where you can hesitate to call a good guy at all. The people of Gotham are
in turmoil and are calling Batman a vigilante and are blaming him for the deaths of cops and other
important figures in the city. The Joker (Heath Ledger) is not just a mustache twirling villain. He s a
Trickster whose deeds are nefariously designed to pose moral dilemmas for his enemies. Gotham
is under the process of recovering from the events of Batman Begins (the first film in the
franchises). The crime of the city is at its lowest point in several decades and there is finally a sign
that Gotham is working towards peace, a peace that has been a long time coming. This low crime
rate is thanks to the team work between the three heavy hitters of law enforcement in Gotham the

The Coco Fall Semester
Jose Ricardo Calvo Professor Vandeveer POLT 567 December 3rd, 2015 Cocoa In 16 days all
UNH students will journey back home for holiday break to enjoy a month long of relaxation and
binge watching the latest Netflix original series. For some, this will be the first time since the
beginning of the Fall Semester that they will see their homes again, and to their surprise, they
may arrive to a newly decorated, holiday themed house. Some homes will be filled with classic
red and green tinsel, others with modern white and silver LED lights, and maybe some not at all

every holiday, special occasion, or just because moments are filled with chocolate. You wouldn t

The NFL Protests Of The National Anthem
NFL Protests of the National Anthem The National Football League players who are kneeling
for the national anthem are disrespecting our country and what it stands for. Our flag stands for
freedom and liberty. The players should respect that. Before every NFL game, the flag is
brought out by an Honor Guard. This is part of a time honored ceremony intended to present our
nation s colors (the flag) and National Anthem in a respectful manner. By kneeling during the
national anthem, they are disrespecting the flag, the national anthem, all our nation stands for,
the people currently serving in the armed forces and all of those who gave their lives in our
nation s service. As a result of all the players or coaches kneeling, long time NFL fans are
burning jerseys, cancelling season tickets, not showing up for games, not watching games, and
canceling the NFL Sunday ticket and well they should. The players claim they are simply
exercising their 1st Amendment Rights. The players are wrong. The Freedom of Speech Clause
of the 1st Amendment to the United States Constitution only protects people from Government
attempts to restrict their speech. The NFL is not the government. The NFL is a private entity
that has the right to stop its representatives (players) from violating its rules. This is why the
NFL can require players to wear pink for breast cancer awareness or stop players from wearing
911 Memorials or fine players for celebrating in the end zone. The NFL operations manual
requires the players to stand for the National Anthem with their right hand over their heart, their
helmet in the left hand, while facing the Flag. Therefore, the players have no right to kneel
during the National Anthem. All the NFL needs to do to end this nonsense is enforce the rules
the players already agreed to follow. NFL football players have no greater right to protest on the
football field than an employee at Wal Mart has to take a knee on aisle seven. Employers have
the right to stop political speech on their premises or while employees are on the clock (there are
some exceptions, but these do not apply). The NFL operations manual simply makes the league s
rules similar Federal law. Federal law (commonly referred to as the

The Pleasure Of Eating By Wendell Berry Analysis
An essay can be determined as effective or ineffective by answering a few simple questions. If
an author achieves his purpose, appropriately relates to his specific audience, and has credibility
for what he is writing about, the essay is more than likely going to be effective. The essay being
critiqued is The Pleasure of Eating by Wendell Berry which was published in 1989. As a farmer,
the author wants his audience to recognize that there is more to eating than just eating. Those who
purchase food from grocery stores and restaurants are not only consumers, but eaters as well. Berry

Abduction n. the action or an instance of forcibly taking someone away against their will. In the
book, The Cellar by Natasha Preston, is about a teenager who decided to go have a fun,
memorable night with friends and the ended up getting abducted and locked up for eight months.
Coming of age is shown throughout this book. Coming of age is shown because Summer deals
with being abused, the death of others, and being thrown back into society after a long period of
time.
The first coming of age situation is being abused. He pulled her hair again, making her scream
and thrash around as she tried getting out of his grip. Without hesitation, he plunged the knife
into her stomach, (Preston, 6). Clover does what he wants and hitting these girls is just a part of
it. He doesn t just hit them, he stabbed, kicked, and even raped them. In his opinion, they
deserved it, but they cannot stand the abuse. Clover got so enraged that he beat some of the girls
until they couldn t walk and had to be on bed rest for weeks. Being abused makes them all

Landolt Clock Reaction Lab Report
DISCUSSION
By analysing the results of The Landolt clock reaction, and the outcomes that occur due to change
in concentration and the addition of a catalyst, the data did partially support the hypothesis. That
by changing the concentrations of potassium iodate and sodium bisulphite the rate of the reaction
will increase. The rate gradually increased per every 10 seconds on the NaHSO3 graph. Whereas
compared to the KIO3 graph the rate was more efficient, the reaction was achieved within 5
seconds. However, the second hypothesis regarding the addition of a catalyst, displayed acceptable
results. The catalyst increased the speed of the reaction within 10 seconds, which was slightly faster
than the reaction times gained from the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The tests that had large amounts of distilled water had a long reaction rate due to the breaking of the
molecular compounds within the reagents.
Secondary data states that the rate law yielded from the iodine clock reaction was rate = k[IO3] 1
(Lyle, Department of Chemistry) which was different to the rate law that this investigation
obtained. 0.41 [KLO3]^2 [NaHSO3]^2. This would have happened due to the changing of both
KIO3 and NaHSO3, and also by adding more distilled water to the mixture which slowed down the
reaction rate.
Rate law is important, when regarding iodine clock reactions. The rate law helps to determine what
factors impact the rate, and increase the reaction time. Also helps show what factors decrease the
reaction rate.
There were some limitations that were encountered during the experiment, and the planning stages.
Such as, the constant changes made to the method. The method had to be changed three times this
was due to scaling back the measurements of the solutions. The solutions that were part of the
original method would have resulted in 20 ml of the blue solution, which would waste the sodium
bisulfite and potassium, every time a test was conducted.
Another limitation was the trial testing to see whether the experiment worked, which produced
efficient results. Compared to the actual experiment data, many tests had to be repeated. This would

Half Life Lab Report
In this experiment we will explore the meaning of half life. We will accomplish this by getting a
handful of un popped popcorn and cooking them in a pan. We will count how long it takes for
half of the popcorn to pop. In this experiment un popped popcorn will resemble a radioactive
nucleus whilst popped nuclei will resemble non radioactive nuclei. When the popcorn is popped
it means that the nucleus is stable. In this experiment, we discovered that we cannot predict
when half of the radioactive nuclei when disappear the first time over although when the first
half life occurs we are able to calculate the half life in the future. Half life is the amount of time
taken for half of the radioactive nuclei to disappear. In this experiment we decided to put 16
pieces of popcorn in a pot and then counted the seconds it took before they popped. The time it
took for the number of un popped popcorn to half from 16 to 8 was 19 seconds. It then went from 8
to 4 in 13 seconds, 4 to 2 in 12 seconds and lastly 2 to 1 in 10 seconds. This made us come to the

Is Jason Still Relevant Today
Myths of the heroes speak most eloquently of man s quest to choose life over death (Dorothy

worst in his character. Some of his decisions also determine the fate of others. Jason is a Greek
mythological hero that is give a quest to attain the Golden Fleece in order to rule his father s land.
Through his difficult encounters on his journey, he eventually retrieves the Fleece, but things do

Many of the key points, however, have remained the same. Apollonius story was so popularly
enjoyed that it really has not changed greatly. The myth has only changed to adapt to the
modern times (Lieberman). As from the detailed summary before, there were crucial parts of the
myth that are necessary in order for the myth to flow easily. There have been a few adaptations
of the myth throughout the years. More recently, in the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries, a couple
book and movie adaptations have been created. In 1867, The Life and Death of Jason written by
British writer William Morris has many of the key aspects of the myth in his book. There are
only a small number of differences in the two. One difference is the reason for Heracles
disappearance. Morris most likely kept the same details as the myth, but added some of his
personal touch to it to appeal to his readers (Lieberman). Another adaptation of the myth is the
first movie adaptation called Jason and the Argonauts, made in 1963. The same relative story is
found in the movie, but some details were changed. In the movie, Jason meets Pelias by saving
him in the river as he was drowning. In the process, Jason loses a sandal. After saving Pelias, not
realizing who he was, Jason told him about his desire to rule Iolcus. Pelias tells him to retrieve the
Golden Fleece and he would have the power to overthrow Pelias. It is believed that

If customers have tried breadsticks from these companies and did not like them, then they may
think the same of the stuffed breadsticks from Olive Garden. It is important to market the stuffed
breadstick differently than the low cost breadsticks from the other restaurants.
SWOTT Analysis One useful aid that Team B can use to identify relevant screening criteria and
for zeroing in on a feasible strategy is SWOT analysis. SWOT analysis identifies and lists the
strengths and weaknesses and its opportunities and threats (Perreault, Cannon, McCarthy, 2009).
Here are the strengths and weaknesses and the opportunities and threats for the new breadsticks
for Olive Garden. Two important strengths for Olive Garden is that it is a well know Italian food
restaurant and they are known for their breadsticks. For Olive Garden to add a new line of
breadsticks with cheese will be a nice addition. There are many people who will enjoy the cheese
filled breadsticks served with the marinara sauce on the side. This gives Olive Garden customers
a choice on what type they would like before their dinner, if not both. One weakness that needs
to be considered for adding this appetizer menu item would be the fact that Olive Garden is
known for their already plain breadsticks and some people do not like change. With this being
said, the bread sticks may not do well because the majority of people don t want to try the new bread

A Farewell Of Arms, By Frederic Henry
In the novel, A Farewell to Arms, it mentions several different things about the lives of Frederic
Henry and Catherine Barkley. First, it starts off mentioning Frederic Henry. Frederic Henry is an
young American who just so happened to be in Italy during World War I. Soon Frederic s friend
Rinaldi introduces him to a woman by the name of Catherine Barkley. Catherine Barkley was a
British nurse who is trying to get over the death of her fiance. Additionally, Frederic Henry and
Catherine Barkley were in Italy doing two different occupations. Frederic volunteered as an
ambulance driver for the Italian army while Catherine was a nurse and was stationed at several
different hospitals throughout the course of the novel.

Later in the novel Frederic does realize he does love Catherine in Chapter 14. He shows this by
saying When I saw her I was in love with her. Everything turned over inside of me. (Hemingway,

In chapter nine of A Farewell to ArmsFrederic gets wounded. He gets wounded because him and
another driver Gordini go and fetch some food for some of the soldiers. When they go to leave a
bunch of bombs go off and which ends up killing Gordini and injuring Frederic s leg. Fredric s
behavior follow the injury was that of detachment. This is shown when the priest visits him in the
hospital and Frederic confides in him that he hates the war and believes it is a hopeless effort.
In the novel, A Farewell to Arms, the Italian retreat from Caporetto was depicted strongly in book
three. In the morning it is revealed that one of the several attacking forces includes Germany
which terrifies the Italian army. Then Frederic, Bonello, Piani, and Aymo drive around town with
an endless column of people and vehicles behind them. Additionally, in this chapter they have to
kill a soldier due to the fear of being overtaken. These three chapters describe the hardships of war
from the perspective of Frederic.
In the novel, A Farewell to Arms, the love affair between Frederic and Catherine ends quite poorly.
In previous chapters, it was learned that Catherine was

Benefits Of Gene Therapy For Parkinson s Disease
Gene therapy for Parkinson s disease (PD) is an alternative to current pharmacologic and surgical
treatments; the former are limited by motor and non motor complication, and both by lack of
neuroprotection. Gene therapy offers a means to dominate two very different but equally
significant, long term obstacles for treating human diseases. The first, involving genereplacement,
attempts to correct a specific genetic defect linked to a major component of the disease by
expressing unmutated gene. In reality, the number of patient whose neurodegenerative disease is
linked to a single genetic mutation is quite small, so the impact of this application of gene therapy
to neurology is limited. Another goal of gene therapy is to transfer therapeutic proteins to a targeted

The age old problem with the use of proteins to treat neurodegenerative diseases is that they are
large, partially polar and often labile entities that, when injected, can aggregate, misfolded and
tolerated other changes that render them biologically ineffective or worse. Moreover more
problematic for CNS indications, they do not readily cross the blood brain barrier and, when
injected directly into the brain, do not spread significantly from the point of injection, thus reducing
their exposure to the targeted tissue, which greatly decreases their therapeutic effect, finally, when
protein delivery is mistargeted, significant side effects can occur (17 20). Gene therapy (gene
transfer) refers to the use of a modified viral vector to introduce genetic information to site specific

For my event immersion, I chose to attend two different lectures. Specifically, the power of
knowledge: higher education, reintegration and liberation, as well as the environment/DAPL
lecture. Both lectures served as a reminder of what is necessary towards a focus on education in
society. I decided to look at both lectures because of my interest in how the two potentially collide
based off an interesting that I had personally. Socialization is one aspect of the conversation that
does not necessarily come forth, but holds a large degree of relevance.
The significance of these lectures is that they all revolve around a need for people to be more
understanding of one another through education. Education serves as a vehicle that helps people to

The issue here is based on the fact that socialization ultimately works in hand with education and
it applies the identities. That is, Harro (2008) found that identities are ascribed to us at birth
through no effort or decision or choice of our own (p. 46). Considering this, it becomes
increasingly difficult to create a us vs them scenario. When in reality, it is two groups of people
who have grown up believing two different ideologies, and there is not really any type of dynamic
change that is associated with this conversation. The contrast of these two conversations only add
to the ongoing understanding of how difficult it is to have a difference if any. The more important
conversation that is occurring here is ultimately how can one bridge the gap of knowledge and
conversation that is occurring here.
Society currently stands at odds due in part to the fact that there is a gap in knowledge and
socialization is at the heart of it. In the instances provided by both lecturers, they are tied by the
fact that there is no real manner upon which their issues can be resolved because socialization
ultimately acts as the judge and jury. They are both looking to bridge the gap between the two
parties at odds that have developed. However, as Harro stated, there isn t a realistic solution due in

Examples Of Mise En Scene In The Matrix
The film The Matrix is considered to be a great science fiction and action film, as the special
effects were ahead of its time and the story is ageless. The Matrix was released on March 31, 1999.
Although many people are not aware of the mise en scene in the film, unknowingly it plays an
important role in the film. Without the setting, lighting, costume/makeup, and the behaviour of the
figures, the film would be uninteresting. The following essay will discuss how the maze cubicle
office, the dark lighting, the black costumes and sunglasses and the seriousness of the figures all
contributes to the theme of captivity verse freedom in the scene where Mr. Anderson tries to escape
from Agent Smith and his co workers.
Firstly, one of the elements of mise en scene is the setting. The setting takes place in an office.
The office is in a very high building and it looks like a maze cube. The setting is very realistic as
many companies use those maze cube offices, however, the use of the maze cube reflects the
theme of freedom verses captivity. Usually when people are in a maze they are trapped and are

The figures in this scene were very serious, they barely showed any emotion. Neo, on the other
hand displayed fear and terror, which contributes to the theme of captivity verses freedom.
Consequently, when looking at the behaviour of the figures it is evident that the director used the
fear of Neo s fear to evoke a feeling of concern in the viewer. Therefore, based on how the actors
react provokes a feeling of suspense within the viewer.
In conclusion, as we assess this specific scene in The Matrix it is evident how significantly the
director used the mise en scene to articulate the theme of captivity verses freedom in the film. The
mise en scene also creates a feeling of nervousness within the viewer that could not have been

Edward Hopper Nighthawks Essay
Often considered to be one of the most iconic pieces of American art, Nighthawks, a 84.1 x
152.4 cm oil on canvas, is a piece shrouded in feelings of solitude and separation. It was painted
by Edward Hopper in 1942, and was purchased by the Art Institute of Chicago almost immediately
afterwards. What made the painting so appealing to both the Art Institute and the general public
was for how deeply it connected with the culture at the time. Their feelings of tension and wartime
anxiety are ingrained into every part, from Hopper s relentless work ethic to the title of the canvas
itself. Nighthawks is a depiction of four people sitting in a diner called Phillies. The bright

Why? To begin with, there is the matter of the title. According to Merriam Webster, a nighthawk is
someone who often awake late at night (Nighthawk); thus, the patrons at the diner are the
nighthawks. That in itself is not too strange, but the word choice is rather significant. As art
historian Gail Levin points out, the more innocuous night owls would have suggested a less
ominous mood (Levin, Edward Hopper: An Intimate Biography, 350). The two terms are
synonymous, so to decide on hawk over an owl is noteworthy. After all, a hawk is an aggressive
predator, so to use it in the title automatically creates a serious and sinister feeling that Nightowls
would not have. And what of the subject of the painting itself? Hopper once said that he had been
inspired to model the diner after an actual restaurant on Greenwich Avenue that he knew. When
pressed about the deeper meaning behind the work, he admitted that unconsciously, probably, I was
painting the loneliness of a large city (Levin, Edward Hopper: An Intimate Biography, 349). The
piece certainly emanates the sensation of being alone in a city, though there is much more going

The Constitution Of The United Kingdom
The present constitution in the United Kingdom is unwritten. There has been much dispute as to
whether or not a written constitution, as implemented by many other countries such as France and
the United States of America, should also be adopted by the United Kingdom. The working
mechanism of government is conditioned by a system of procedures, which regulate on one level
of the principle organs of the state, whilst others govern the conduct of official business. Amid
these usages are ones that have the position of a convention. Lord Wilson describes these
conventions as ...political principles which regulate relations between the different parts of our
constitutionand the exercise of power but which do not have legal force. Since they do not have
legal force, certain questions emerge, such as whether constitutional conventions should be
codified, and whether their unclassified nature would permit such alteration. This essay will
consider the arguments of the codification of constitutional conventions if a written constitution
were to be implemented by the United Kingdom. Reasons proposing and opposing codifying
conventions will be considered, specifically focusing on these foremost resolutions: legally
enforcing codified conventions, allowing codified conventions to be regarded as non legal rules,
specify a selection of conventions to be codified, or quite simply leave them as they are,
uncodified. This analysis will outline the varied views on codifying conventions

The Unbearable Lightness Of Being Character Analysis
The Unbearable Lightness of Being is written by Milan Kundera, a Czech novelist. It is mostly
set in late 1960 s Prague. The novel explores the state of life after the Russian military occupation
of Prague. The author does not follow a chronological order throughout the novel, which is a
reflection of how disorderly life is. It is a time of conflict both spiritually and physically. People
start to question the meaning of lifeif there is any meaning at all. Kundera begins the novel by
refusing both Nietzsche s interpretation of eternal return and Parmenides classification of lightness

theory as unbearable does not necessarily make the other bearable. If Kundera rejects both lightness
and weight; identifying them as extremities, where does that leave human beings? Do they choose

Adams contended that it is riches or the absence of it which makes imbalance, particularly in
America, and in this way called Jefferson s promise for human fairness an unthinkable dream.
Along these lines, for Adams, the wellspring of the issue was not European feudalism, but instead
human intuition. Humorously, the slave populace of the South was an excellent illustration of
feudalism, one in which Jefferson joined in even as he assaulted the thought of feudalism.
Jefferson denounced Adams for tending to dam the dynamic legacy the region of republican
respectability, a social event unrivaled by their favorable circumstances as opposed to riches. Ellis
takes note of that it was the Republican capacity to perceive and talk in this way that secured the
accomplishment of their gathering, while the Federalists blurred away. Another contentious topic of
the correspondence was the French Revolution. Adams blissfully specified the subject as approval
for quite a bit of his outside approach, which Jefferson had assaulted in the race of 1800. Jefferson

that at last discolored Adams notoriety and drove Jefferson to the official office. Jefferson had

Analysis Of Mary Shelly s Winning Frankenstein Essay
There are many books and movies, both fictional and non fictional that deal with some form of

extent, the interest of the audience ultimately depends on what events the story line includes and
how interesting did they make that specific event. I have decided to deal with 1818, award
winning Frankenstein by Mary Shelly. In the beginning of the story, a man name Robert Walton
is searching for a passage that connects Russia, the Pacific Ocean, and The Arctic Ocean. Having

Merriam Webster states culture is defined: as the beliefs, customs, and arts, of a particular
society, group, place, or time. People think of culture as they think of a specific person(s) or a
region but with a little studying of culture they would understand what it really is. The first thing
we have to understand is that culture is taught, or learned over time. Culture is not something
you were born with or receive from your parents. People learn the different cultures through life
experiences, family, and friends. We as humans all require food, water, sleep and education on
important cultural characteristics in order to learn different culture. Everywhere in the world is
different and people come from all different parts of the world because culture is shared. We
learn from others and how people have live throughout the world. The next characteristic would
be symbols, symbols can be anything from money, art, and language. In parts of the world
language to a specific region is important to their culture. Culture is engraved into our brains at a
young age. A country like the United States, foreigners arrive into a new culture and learn to adapt
in many ways the same as we would have to while in another country. The last characteristic would
be dynamic, this means things change over time. People always have changed over time and areas
change as society grows and advancement in technology arises. There is actually remote islands

My Personality Assessment Of Personality Assessments
ENFJ My Personality Assessment Jacqueline Perez Hicks Oklahoma Wesleyan University ENFJ
My Personality Assessment Personality assessments can serve as valuable tools to determine
personality types, and subsequently allow us to understand certain behavior patterns. My own
personality assessment revealed that I have an ENFJ personality type; I am an extrovert; have a
preference of intuition over sensing; have a preference of feeling versus thinking; and have a
preference of judging over perceiving (Jung, n.d.). The results of my assessment were quite
revealing, mostly accurate, with room for interpretation. Real time circumstances and the
environment have a direct impact on my behavior. According to Revelle and Condon (2015)
People differ from themselves on a moment to moment basis in that they do not think, feel or act
the same all the time. They change in their feelings, in their thoughts, in their desires and in their
actions. In this summary I will present the parallels I discovered between the results of my
assessment and the personality traits I feel I possess. I will also present my strengths and
weaknesses as they relate to each personality type code, E, N, F, and J, and how my preferences in
how I think and behave, can both positively and negatively impact my environment. Extraversion I
would classify myself as extremely extraverted and feel quite comfortable in all settings, and in
either large or small groups. I

The Characteristics Of The Public Sector
Introduction
Apple was founded on April 1st, 1971 in Cupertino, California. It is a celebrious company and
highly praised by consumers and it s critics for innovative technology; revolutionizing
communication and interaction as well as completing objectives whether for school, work or
leisurely use. The company is generally known for it s wide range of products from iPhones to
MacBooks and many more. It is a forerunner in the computer hardware, software and electronics
industry.
Task 1
A) To some economists, Apple essentially falls into the private sector, however, in reality, it is part
of the public sector. Like all companies that fall within the public sector category, they are generally
controlled by the government, whether ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Apple is an incorporation, meaning they have declared themselves as a corporate entity separate
from it s owners. I would recommend this type of business practice because of it s benefits. Some
benefits of having an incorporation include protection of the owner s assets against the companies
liabilities, the ability to raise the capital through the sales of stocks, a simplistic and effective
transfer of ownership to another party if necessary. Other benefits include getting a lower tax rate
rather than on personal income and not to mention, having the benefit of creating a protective
bubble around the company s shareholders, directors, and most importantly the company s owners.
Hence, business structure of Apple is highly favorable amongst many and would be a suitable
recommendation.
B)Like many companies that are in one of the leading industries in the world, Apple is affected by
different business environments. Three types of environments they are affected by are their
internal. macro and micro environments. They are affected internally through a number of key
components the number of employees, to how they manage, as well the corporate culture of the
company. Apple has well over 100,000 employees. The company s current CEO, Tim Cook has a
unique style to how he operates. According to an excerpt from Duke University s Fuqua School of
Business website, the school which Cook received his MBA from,

Andrew Jacksonian Democracy
Andrew Jackson, the seventh President of the United States, is maybe more applicable today than
the greater part of alternate Presidents of the mid nineteenth century. In the wake of the
challenged race of 2000 and during developing protestations of the squalor of legislative issues,
we may do well to think back to Jackson s filthy and fervently race for the Presidency in 1824, in
which he won the mainstream vote however thusly lost the Presidency after the decision was tossed
into the House of Representatives. As America s political gathering framework created, Jackson
turned into the pioneer of the new Democratic Party. A supporter of states rights and subjugation s
expansion into the new western domains, he restricted the Whig Party and Congress on polarizing
issues, for example, the Bank of the United States. For a few, his inheritance is discolored by his
part in the constrained movement of Native American tribes living east of the Mississippi.... Show

He remained for the privilege of the everyday citizens to have a more noteworthy voice in
government. Unmistakable changes in laws rehearse, and mainstream states of mind offered to
ascend to Jacksonian Democracy and were thusly quickened by the new equalitarian soul. A vague,
questionable idea, Jacksonian Democracy in the strictest sense alludes essentially to the power of
Andrew Jackson and the Democratic party after 1828. Jacksonian democracy rules system was a
nineteenth century political rationality in the United States that embraced more noteworthy vote
based system for the regular man, as that term was then characterized. Starting with President
Andrew Jackson and his supporters, it turned into the country s overwhelming political perspective

Pamela Anderson Ad Analysis
The Non Profit Association People for the Ethnic Treatment of Animals, otherwise known as
PETA, released an ad in 2010 where Pamela Anderson was dressed in a bikini and looked as if
she had been marked by a butcher to be slaughtered and to have several of her body parts cut off
for the consumption of meat ( All animals... ). In the ad, Pamela Andersonis looking very sexy and
she is in a very provocative sitting position and is tagged as if she were an animalin various areas of
her body like her breast, legs, shoulders, ribs, among other parts. The message PETA was trying
to get across was that people and animals have the same parts and they were trying to persuade
the public to go vegetarian. The PETA ad was banned in several countries like Canada for being
too provocative and over sexualized. This isn t the first time the association is caught in this type
of situation, many of its ads like the Last Longer ( Last Longer ), Veggie Love ( Veggie Love ) ,
and Sex and the Kitty ( Sex and ) were banned for being too sexual and overly explicit. Although
PETA is trying to shine the light on the problems that animals suffer because of humans, the type of
attention that they get tends to be negative. Instead of getting the animalsthe help they need, their
ads get banned and deemed insulting and inappropriate. The Pamela Anderson Ad was said to be
offensive and very controversial. PETA is known for using celebrities to attract the public s
attention but this ad in

Feminine Sexuality in The Storm
Kate Chopin s short story The Storm ; describes an encounter of infidelity between two lovers
during a brief thunderstorm. The story alludes to the controversial topic of women s sexuality and
passion, which during Chopin s time no one spoke about much less wrote about. So controversial
was The Storm, ; that it was not published until after her death in eighteen ninety nine. The story is
broken up into five sections, each filled with small clues and hints that reflect her message. In short,
Kate Chopins The Storm ; is about a confirmation of feminine sexuality and passion and a rejection
of the suppression of it by society.
The title of The Storm ; gives the reader a peek into the underlying meaning of the story. It

Her sexuality has been repressed by the constraints of her marriage and society s view of
women, represented by the housework being done before the storm hits. Chopin alludes to this
theme of suppression again as Alcee is invited into Calixta s home. The author writes, Come long
in, M sieur Alcee. His voice and her own startled her as if from a trance, and she seized Bobinot s
vest. Alcee, mounting to the porch, grabbed the trousers and snatched Bibi s braided jacket that
was about to be carried away by a sudden gust of wind. ; Alcee grabs Bobinot s pants, symbolically
subverting the social and martial constraints that control Calixta.
Chopin presents many details of Calixta s affirmation of her sexuality and passion. As the storm s
intensity increases, it becomes necessary to put something underneath the door to keep the rain
out. My! what a rain! It s good two years sence it rained it rain like that, exclaimed Calixta as she
rolled up a piece of bagging and Alcee helped her to thrust it beneath the crack. ; The sexual
connotation of thrusting it beneath the crack ; is evident, but it is important to notice that Calixta
initiates this sexual act, not Alcee. This is a far cry from an ordinary, repressed housewife. Quite
the contrary, Chopin actually

Tehuana Self Portrait
Portraits are some of the most common paintings within the art community, as long as people have
made art there have been portraits. For the first few thousand years, portraits, whether drawn,
painted or sculpted, were typically reserved for those deemed important enough to be honored with
a work of art bearing their likeness. This thought still rains true, but the consideration of those
named important enough has then shifted. Along with that the meaning of a portraithas changed to
become more complex at first glance. Frida Kahlo, Tehuana Self Portrait, 1940 and Francois
Boucher, Madame de Pompadour, 1750 are two portraits that offer a story within the paintingitself,

This painting about the process of applying make up at the mistress s vanity conveying a pure
young woman. The lace and pink ribbons along the chest of her dress create an almost
architectural quality, being able to see the weight and stiffness that they create. The subtle focus
on the cameo on her wrist being a portrait of her lover, King Louis XV contrasted with that the
size of her eyes compared to her mouth transforms her into a childlike state. The painting provides
a sense of mirroring. Even though Madame de Pompadour has a mirror placed in front of her, she
turns her body facing towards us with an expression of intended innocence.
The two portraits tell a similar story of the women s past lovers. Frida s self portrait being much
clearer that there is more to the painting than just she, Boucher s is more indirect that the viewer
may miss the meaning by glancing over it. By the artist imbedding these practices the portraits
become a story one must analysis and dissect, by looking at the subjects using ones period eye.

Strategic Rationale For The Acquisition Of Myer Holdings...
1 Strategic rationale for the acquisition of Myer Holdings Limited 1.1Growth motive The main
reason for this Mergers Acquisitions(M A) activity is the growing scale of Premier Investments
Limited (Premier). The target for acquisition is Myer Holdings Limited(Myer). Myer is an
important customer for Premier with significant common interest. And the competitor, Woolworths
South Africa(Woolworths) has already achieved the David Jones acquisition. Therefore, Premier
choose Myer as the target for acquisition. 1.1.1Growing scale and Geographic the acquisition of
Myer will greatly help Premier expand its retails into some new geographic regions and acquire
more capabilities faster with lower risk than developing them internally. M A activity does help
Premier get benefits on location from industry consolidation and acquire the control over supplier.
1.1.2 Competitive position For both Myer and Premier, the M A is an appropriate way to satisfy the
higher return for their shareholders and enhance their economic strength. In addition, Premier will
enhance its rate of innovation through acquiring new technology and intellectual property. Also,
Premier can diversify the company s products into some new market segments and attract new
customers and partners. Also, this M A activity can improve the market competitiveness of Premier
against other strong competitors in Australian market and such as Woolworths. 1.2Synergy The
acquisition of Myer has the robust view on synergy for

It was once a fantasy that men would walk on the moon, so much so that until the early 50 s it
was common to say that something was as likely to happen as a man walking on the moon. The
men and women working as NASA in the 1960s made space travel possible for the first time, and
without them it s likely we still wouldn t be in space. The faced hard work, math that hadn t even

Apollo 11 was the first manned spaceship to land on the moon, carrying Neil Armstrong, Michael
Collins, and Edwin Buzz Aldrin, and an estimated 530 million people watched Armstrong as he

(nasa.gov). Other than landing on the moon for the first time, the Apollo 11 astronauts were to
collect lunar samples, deploy several experiments, examine and photograph the lunar surface ,
all of these tasks were completed (lpi.usra.edu). Besides raising the morale of the citizens in the
US and ensuring more soundness in the case of nuclear war, these lunar samples were incredibly
important in furthering our knowledge about the moon and space. There were 6 Apollo Missions
in total, all of which returned a wealth of scientific data relating to soil mechanics, meteoroids,
heat flow, lunar ranging, magnetic fields, solar and wind (airandspace.si.edu). For the first time,
geologic samples were brought back to Earth in the form of 50 rocks and samples of lunar Soil .

in terms of knowledge. Although the Mercury Missions were one of the most important missions of

Crime Victimization
Violent victimization and hooking up among strangers may be two separate and independent
issues, but they have areas and aspects that have similarities. However, it is imperative to
understand these two aspects are common in the current societies and communities, and changing
ideas and perspectives in the world has propagated them. Shaffer and Ruback (2002) suggest that
violent victimization, as an independent aspect, is a feature found among younger people in the
community, and further, can be classified in intensity among various aspects such as age, gender,
race, and to some extent, the level and extent of physical development. These authors find that some
people are more at risk of violent victimizations than others. Additionally, the authors... Show more

Seigel (2006) further suggests that this theory differs from the victim precipitation theory in a
major way since the victims of victimization does not have any effect on the crime to be
committed. The victims do not play any part in increasing the instances of victimizations on
themselves. Rather, the victims suffer victimization as a result of being in areas that are prone to
such actions and interactions. Therefore, the theory recommends a total change of the venue or
place that the victims lives so that he or she leaves the deviant place. The places where these
crimes are high are known as deviant, and these areas will increase the chances of an individual s
victimization, and there is nothing that the individual can do to change this, except moving from
the deviant areas. However, there are trends. that arise from an analysis of lifestyles, and deviant
areas since it has been noted that social and economic inequality over time has resulted in more
minorities in the victim seat. Under the deviant theory, it becomes evident that more minorities are
found in low income areas and because they have low incomes, they find themselves unable to
move away from the same areas, which are crime ridden and deviant. Of note is that there are no

  • 2. Essay about My Bedroom My house is quite large. It has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen, two living rooms, a dining room, a special games room and a big front and back garden. My favourite rooms is my bedroom. I love it because it is the only room in my house where I can lock myself away from the rest of the world. After a long day, all i want to do is go up tom my cosy bedroom and either listen to some mellow music, or lie down, unwind and watch a bit of T.V or maybe even a relaxing film. My bedroom is a very special and different room. Thriugh the day it s a relaxing sanctuary but through the night where all my wildest dream and fantasy s can be let loose into the tender world. Monsters need to be killed and damsels need to be saved. All the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My favourite thing to do in my bedroom is jump on my bed and once when my friends came to sleep over we had a game to see who could jump and make their head touch the ceiling and naturally I won but my little sister would burst in without knocking and see what we was doing and ofcourse the first thing she did was say Im telling mum in her little whining annoying voice and run down the stair and tell my mum. So it was a long time i had to wait to have another sleepover. In the corner you can see the fairies and pixies fighting over the pizza i was eating yesterday which is infact my favourite food. The design of the rooms is very unique like everything has been put in a place for a reason. The oldest think i can remember here is the sofa which i bought 2 years ago. I remember when we first bought it, the smile on my face and the arguing between my dad and brother. Go left, Go left he would yell. Ahh good times. It used to be clean but the constant food i would eat on it could have changed that. Like most teenagers i have many posters on my walls mostly of role models that I admire, favourite teams and a few cute girls here and there. The most visible thing here is probably the red carpet that covers the bedroom as far as your eyes can see. In the corner of my bedroom is my desk which I normally do all of my homework and assignments, On top of it sat my computer which is always on. My previous desk somehow broke and ... • 3. Occupational Therapy Vs Family Systems Model The foundation of everything falls into the therapist parent/caregiver relationship. The occupational therapist has to build a strong relationship with the parent/ caregiver to get their trust and support for the services they are going to provide to their child (Brown Stoffel, 2011). The two have to work together for the child to get the most benefits from the therapy. Although in some aspects the occupational therapist may know what is best for the child, they have to be able to respect and take into consideration the parents feelings and desires. The caregiver/parent also has to be observant of the child s actions at home to be able to tell the therapist if they believe the interventions are helping the child (Brown Stoffel, 2011).... Occupational therapists look at the family s activities during the day and creates for them a routine that could bring normalcy for the child. If the appointment is scheduled outside of the routine, this can cause the balance to be offset for the child, which in the end is not beneficial (Ferran, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Importance Of English Literature High school has been my most treasurable experience so far; a time where I have learnt about a range of topics and developed the skills to view things from a personal perspective. For this, I owe a great thanks to all my English teachers; especially Mrs Hinds, who is here with us today and Mrs Lyndon, who helped prepare us for our final stretch of school. While preparing for this speech, when I read the assessments from the past two years, it surprised me to realise how much I had missed the point of each of the tasks. Only now while nearing the end this twelve year part of my life, have I realised the importance of each individual topic. I realised that no other subject has delved into such a range of diverse matters from the present and past. Just as in Harper Lee s quote from To Kill a Mockingbird : People generally see what they look for and hear what they listen for . What I missed were the fascinating features of our culture, encapsulated in varying English literature; which of course, were obvious when studying the works of Shakespeare or of the Romantic poets of the eighteenth and nineteenth century. But only after my interest in the subject spiked was I able to understand that I was missing deeper aspects hidden within all types of literature. [linking sentence] A form of literature I used to enjoy in its most meaningless state was music. Without giving it a second thought, I used to view music as empty entertainment until we analysed a song and poem for The Beat ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Addiction In The Moonstone Although the word addiction is never presented in The Moonstone, it plays a prominent role in the novel. The author Wilkie Collins himself was a laudanum addict, taking it to alleviate his painful affliction of gout. This may explain the theme in his novel and the sympathetic treatment of addicts, during a time when addictionwas not recognized as a brain disorder, but rather as a moral failing. Much like Collins, Ezra is not a bad person, but simply addicted to a substance he cannot quit taking. Featured in the novel are both opium and tobacco addiction. The first mention of opium addiction in The Moonstone refers to John Herncastle or the wicked Colonel. While describing his alleged depravity and low character, one of the rumors mentions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Jennings is a doctor that has become addicted to opium after a decade long struggle with an incurable internal complaint. The excruciating pain this illness has wracked has body with made opium a necessity. He describes opium as an all potent and all merciful drug. Referring to his addiction, he says to Franklin, But even the virtues of opium have their limit. The progress of the disease has gradually forced me from the use of opium to the abuse of it. This is a surprising sentiment acknowledged by a medical professional as this book was written in 1868. According to Daily Life in Victorian England, Not until the end of the century did doctors begin warning about the dangers of addiction (202 203). This remarkable view is likely because of Collins first hand experience with addiction, rather than medical community s expressed sentiment. Even more astonishing is Jennings later comment on the perception of opium. The ignorant distrust of opium (in England) is by no means confined to the lower and less cultivated classes. Every doctor in large practice finds himself, every now and then, obliged to deceive his patients. Despite his addiction to the drug, Jennings seems to still accredit it as an important ... • 6. The Tales Of The Heike Analysis Option 2 War has been a constant deterrent in humanities pursuit for peace. Many innocent people are affected and persecuted in horrendous ways, and may even ask why is this happening to them. However in The Tales of the Heike, the losers know exactly why they are losing and suffering. This warrior tale tells the story of the Genji clan having the advantage over the Heike clan in war. They believe it was all due to their leader, Chancellor Kiyomori, abusing his power and obtaining bad karma not only for himself but also for his clan as well. But instead of the story showing how triumphant and righteous the victors are, it instead written in a certain tone and has imagery that invokes the reader to sympathize with the losing side. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example. as the Genji were getting closer to the capital the Heike had to leave their homes which they have lived in for generations. The Heike leaders were able to flee the capital with all of their family but for commoners they had to leave them behind. It is then described that, those departing and those left behind alike should wet their sleeves with tears (1296). This personally invokes an image of a child wiping his tears away with their sleeve, in both the young and old, as they see their loved ones leaving for the last time. So you really have to sympathize with the Heike because the innocent people are affected more than their leaders. Later on as the Heike flee from their home and burned the imperial palace, it also described their surroundings as, the dawn cries of deer... • 9. The NFL Protests Of The National Anthem NFL Protests of the National Anthem The National Football League players who are kneeling for the national anthem are disrespecting our country and what it stands for. Our flag stands for freedom and liberty. The players should respect that. Before every NFL game, the flag is brought out by an Honor Guard. This is part of a time honored ceremony intended to present our nation s colors (the flag) and National Anthem in a respectful manner. By kneeling during the national anthem, they are disrespecting the flag, the national anthem, all our nation stands for, the people currently serving in the armed forces and all of those who gave their lives in our nation s service. As a result of all the players or coaches kneeling, long time NFL fans are burning jerseys, cancelling season tickets, not showing up for games, not watching games, and canceling the NFL Sunday ticket and well they should. The players claim they are simply exercising their 1st Amendment Rights. The players are wrong. The Freedom of Speech Clause of the 1st Amendment to the United States Constitution only protects people from Government attempts to restrict their speech. The NFL is not the government. The NFL is a private entity that has the right to stop its representatives (players) from violating its rules. This is why the NFL can require players to wear pink for breast cancer awareness or stop players from wearing 911 Memorials or fine players for celebrating in the end zone. The NFL operations manual requires the players to stand for the National Anthem with their right hand over their heart, their helmet in the left hand, while facing the Flag. Therefore, the players have no right to kneel during the National Anthem. All the NFL needs to do to end this nonsense is enforce the rules the players already agreed to follow. NFL football players have no greater right to protest on the football field than an employee at Wal Mart has to take a knee on aisle seven. Employers have the right to stop political speech on their premises or while employees are on the clock (there are some exceptions, but these do not apply). The NFL operations manual simply makes the league s rules similar Federal law. Federal law (commonly referred to as the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If an author achieves his purpose, appropriately relates to his specific audience, and has credibility for what he is writing about, the essay is more than likely going to be effective. The essay being critiqued is The Pleasure of Eating by Wendell Berry which was published in 1989. As a farmer, the author wants his audience to recognize that there is more to eating than just eating. • 17. Landolt Clock Reaction Lab Report DISCUSSION By analysing the results of The Landolt clock reaction, and the outcomes that occur due to change in concentration and the addition of a catalyst, the data did partially support the hypothesis. That by changing the concentrations of potassium iodate and sodium bisulphite the rate of the reaction will increase. The rate gradually increased per every 10 seconds on the NaHSO3 graph. Whereas compared to the KIO3 graph the rate was more efficient, the reaction was achieved within 5 seconds. However, the second hypothesis regarding the addition of a catalyst, displayed acceptable results. The catalyst increased the speed of the reaction within 10 seconds, which was slightly faster than the reaction times gained from the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The tests that had large amounts of distilled water had a long reaction rate due to the breaking of the molecular compounds within the reagents. Secondary data states that the rate law yielded from the iodine clock reaction was rate = k[IO3] 1 (Lyle, Department of Chemistry) which was different to the rate law that this investigation obtained. 0.41 [KLO3]^2 [NaHSO3]^2. This would have happened due to the changing of both KIO3 and NaHSO3, and also by adding more distilled water to the mixture which slowed down the reaction rate. Rate law is important, when regarding iodine clock reactions. The rate law helps to determine what factors impact the rate, and increase the reaction time. Also helps show what factors decrease the reaction rate. There were some limitations that were encountered during the experiment, and the planning stages. Such as, the constant changes made to the method. The method had to be changed three times this was due to scaling back the measurements of the solutions. The solutions that were part of the original method would have resulted in 20 ml of the blue solution, which would waste the sodium bisulfite and potassium, every time a test was conducted. Another limitation was the trial testing to see whether the experiment worked, which produced efficient results. Compared to the actual experiment data, many tests had to be repeated. • 18. Half Life Lab Report In this experiment we will explore the meaning of half life. We will accomplish this by getting a handful of un popped popcorn and cooking them in a pan. We will count how long it takes for half of the popcorn to pop. In this experiment un popped popcorn will resemble a radioactive nucleus whilst popped nuclei will resemble non radioactive nuclei. When the popcorn is popped it means that the nucleus is stable. In this experiment, we discovered that we cannot predict when half of the radioactive nuclei when disappear the first time over although when the first half life occurs we are able to calculate the half life in the future. Half life is the amount of time taken for half of the radioactive nuclei to disappear. In this experiment we decided to put 16 pieces of popcorn in a pot and then counted the seconds it took before they popped. The time it took for the number of un popped popcorn to half from 16 to 8 was 19 seconds. It then went from 8 to 4 in 13 seconds, 4 to 2 in 12 seconds and lastly 2 to 1 in 10 seconds. As from the detailed summary before, there were crucial parts of the myth that are necessary in order for the myth to flow easily. There have been a few adaptations of the myth throughout the years. More recently, in the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries, a couple book and movie adaptations have been created. In 1867, The Life and Death of Jason written by British writer William Morris has many of the key aspects of the myth in his book. There are only a small number of differences in the two. One difference is the reason for Heracles disappearance. Morris most likely kept the same details as the myth, but added some of his personal touch to it to appeal to his readers (Lieberman). Another adaptation of the myth is the first movie adaptation called Jason and the Argonauts, made in 1963. The same relative story is found in the movie, but some details were changed. In the movie, Jason meets Pelias by saving him in the river as he was drowning. In the process, Jason loses a sandal. SWOT analysis identifies and lists the strengths and weaknesses and its opportunities and threats (Perreault, Cannon, McCarthy, 2009). Two important strengths for Olive Garden is that it is a well know Italian food restaurant and they are known for their breadsticks. For Olive Garden to add a new line of breadsticks with cheese will be a nice addition. There are many people who will enjoy the cheese filled breadsticks served with the marinara sauce on the side. This gives Olive Garden customers a choice on what type they would like before their dinner, if not both. One weakness that needs to be considered for adding this appetizer menu item would be the fact that Olive Garden is known for their already plain breadsticks and some people do not like change. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The issue here is based on the fact that socialization ultimately works in hand with education and it applies the identities. Considering this, it becomes increasingly difficult to create a us vs them scenario. When in reality, it is two groups of people who have grown up believing two different ideologies, and there is not really any type of dynamic change that is associated with this conversation. The contrast of these two conversations only add to the ongoing understanding of how difficult it is to have a difference if any. Society currently stands at odds due in part to the fact that there is a gap in knowledge and socialization is at the heart of it. It was painted by Edward Hopper in 1942, and was purchased by the Art Institute of Chicago almost immediately afterwards. What made the painting so appealing to both the Art Institute and the general public was for how deeply it connected with the culture at the time. Why? To begin with, there is the matter of the title. According to Merriam Webster, a nighthawk is someone who often awake late at night (Nighthawk); thus, the patrons at the diner are the nighthawks. That in itself is not too strange, but the word choice is rather significant. As art historian Gail Levin points out, the more innocuous night owls would have suggested a less ominous mood (Levin, Edward Hopper: An Intimate Biography, 350). The two terms are synonymous, so to decide on hawk over an owl is noteworthy. After all, a hawk is an aggressive predator, so to use it in the title automatically creates a serious and sinister feeling that Nightowls would not have. And what of the subject of the painting itself? Hopper once said that he had been inspired to model the diner after an actual restaurant on Greenwich Avenue that he knew. When pressed about the deeper meaning behind the work, he admitted that unconsciously, probably, I was painting the loneliness of a large city (Levin, Edward Hopper: An Intimate Biography, 349). Kundera believes that lightness may seem initially freeing and sweet but this sweetness disintegrates gradually and eventually becomes unbearable. On the other hand categorizing one theory as unbearable does not necessarily make the other bearable. If Kundera rejects both lightness and weight; identifying them as extremities, where does that leave human beings? Do they choose lightness, weight or maybe a little of both? That platform was where the announcements and prayer were going to be given. Behind the central platform, there was a giant door, through which all the midshipmen would enter after formation outside. At exactly noon, the midshipmen started to stream into King Hall through that door. I observed a lot of social activity when they entered. First off, what struck me is that the difference in classes was immediately distinguishable. I was tremendously surprised at this. Ever since I had gone to the Naval Academy youth swim club (I started when I was six), I had asked questions and had heard my dad s stories about the Naval Academy. I had heard about the ways the upperclassmen tended to break the freshmen down as individuals and build them back up as a team. As I looked around, I discovered that most, if not all, upperclassmen were cordial to the plebes at their table. While there are some that deal with that subject to either a more or lesser extent, the interest of the audience ultimately depends on what events the story line includes and how interesting did they make that specific event. I have decided to deal with 1818, award winning Frankenstein by Mary Shelly. The results of my assessment were quite revealing, mostly accurate, with room for interpretation. Real time circumstances and the environment have a direct impact on my behavior. According to Revelle and Condon (2015) People differ from themselves on a moment to moment basis in that they do not think, feel or act the same all the time. They change in their feelings, in their thoughts, in their desires and in their actions. In this summary I will present the parallels I discovered between the results of my assessment and the personality traits I feel I possess. I will also present my strengths and weaknesses as they relate to each personality type code, E, N, F, and J, and how my preferences in how I think and behave, can both positively and negatively impact my environment.
