How To Write A Personal Narrative Essay
Crafting an essay on the intricacies of "How To Write A Personal Narrative Essay" is
undoubtedly a challenging task. The difficulty lies not only in explaining the technical aspects
but also in guiding the reader through the nuanced process of weaving a compelling personal
narrative. This essay requires a delicate balance between providing concrete, actionable advice
and inspiring creativity.
To begin with, one must delve into the complexities of personal storytelling, understanding the
nuances of selecting the right story, establishing a captivating narrative arc, and effectively
conveying emotions. Then, there's the challenge of imparting the technical elements, such as
incorporating vivid descriptions, maintaining a coherent structure, and ensuring a strong
connection between the author and the audience.
Moreover, conveying the subjective nature of personal experiences in a way that resonates
universally is a formidable task. It requires a keen understanding of the human experience and an
ability to translate individual stories into relatable and engaging narratives. The art of self-
reflection and the ability to extract meaningful lessons from personal experiences add another
layer of complexity to the writing process.
Furthermore, striking the right balance between self-disclosure and maintaining the reader's
interest is a perpetual challenge. Sharing personal anecdotes without becoming overly self-
indulgent is an art that demands finesse. Additionally, handling sensitive topics with care and
ensuring that the narrative remains authentic while appealing to a broader audience can be a
tightrope walk.
In conclusion, writing an essay on "How To Write A Personal Narrative Essay" involves
navigating through a labyrinth of storytelling techniques, technicalities, and emotional intricacies.

Pierre Elliot Trudeau Essay
Pierre Elliot Trudeau was the fifteenth prime minister of Canada. He had many
accomplishments that benefited all of Canada which include the official language act
of Canada where he made French and English the official languages, the Canadian
Charter of Rights and Freedom, and the liberalization of laws on abortion,
homosexuality and the legalization of lotteries. These are only a few of the many
accomplishments that Pierre Trudeauachieved for Canadawhile his position in
Parliament that was important.
Pierre Trudeau first brought out the official language act of Canada in 1969. He
presented the Canadian population with the beliefs that Canada should have two
official languages, French and English. These would serve two purposes, one ... Show

This charter means that everyone no matter what race, religion, sex, national origin,
age or mental and physical abilities they have they are protected. The charter allows
people to have basic human fundamental rights that most government rules and
regulations were restricting before it came into act. The freedom of speech, religion
and to associate yourself with whoever you want are just some of those rights that are
being offered with the entrenchment of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
Finally the last achievements that Pierre Trudeau did that assisted in making Canada
better are the legalization of laws on abortion, homosexuality and lotteries.
In 1968 Pierre Trudeau liberalized laws on abortion, homosexuality and public
lotteries. Trudeau s most famous quote came from the legalization of
homosexuality and that quote is there s no place for the state in the bedrooms of
the nation #. Trudeau views people s lives as personal and their decision to have
sexual intercourse, be in a relationship or marry whatever sex they prefer is their
own decision and that is why this law is particularly a good one for the gay and
lesbian population of Canada. Instead of being punished for liking the same sex they
are now able to be with who they want to be with. Pierre Trudeau also brought in the
abortion law which allows women to have an abortion granted that they get
permission from three doctors who say that the pregnancy will negatively affect them
The Philosophy of International and Free Trade
A trade liberalization process on a global scale has started since the post WWII
period, with most countries pursuing the philosophy of international and national free
trade. Even though the complete free trade has not been made possible yet, and
maybe it will never be, numerous agreements have been made in the name of trade
liberalization. They allowed the trade between different countries and within the same
country to a certain degree of liberalization where several new business practices can
be implemented.
The two highest expressions of this trade liberalization are off shoring and
outsourcing. Moreover these two practices are more and more often applied together.
However, it is crucial to clearly distinct the differences between off shoring and
outsourcing. It is common mistake to consider them as synonyms. Off shoring can
occur without out sourcing necessarily taking place, on the other hand the existence
of out sourcing does not mean off shoring is happing as well.
Definitions:
Off shoring refers to the relocation by a company of a business process, either
operational or supporting ones, from one country to a different one. However
recently it is commonly used in relation to the practice of relocation to developing
countries, with lower wages. It can consist of administrative or technical processes,
such as accounting and manufacturing. On the other hand some business services,
such as legal services, tend to be out sourced instead of off shore.

Torture In Count Olaf s The Baudelaire Children
In this novel, the Baudelaire children each face the possibility of either death,
sexual assault, or torture. Count Olaf demonstrates paedophilic behaviours towards
Violet by attempting to marry her in order to gain access to their fortune that their
parents have left for them in their will. When Count Olaf confronts her with this
unfavourable situation, he strokes Violet s hair (Snicket 94). Violet realizes that
agreeing to marry this predatory man entails maintaining traditional gender roles.
She imagines sleeping beside Count Olaf, and waking up each morning to look at
[him]. She pictured wandering around the house [...] and cooking for his terrible
friends at night (94). Not only does this passage entail possibilities of non
consensual sex between Count Olaf and Violet, but also encompasses torture of
Violet, since she is no longer able to follow her dreams of becoming an inventor.
These themes of sexual assault, lack of consent, and being forced into gender roles
can be very traumatic... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He is struck across the face by him and humiliated by Count Olaf s company when
he is struck. This is demonstrated when the theatre troupe laughed and [...]
applauded at Klaus s abuse (46). It is clear that Count Olaf s strike was rather hard
as it is stated that it left a bruise on Klaus s cheek (49). Klaus receives rather
gruesome death threats from other members of the theatre troupe. While attempting
to do research into Count Olaf s plan, the member of the troupe with the hook hands
tells Klaus that the only reason Count Olaf hasn t torn [him] limb from limb is that
he hasn t gotten a hold of [his] money (78). Klaus has more reason to believe these
threats of death due to the fact that Count Olaf has already demonstrated his lack of
inhibition to act violently towards children. The depiction of violence towards
children and the extremely gruesome and possibly credible death threats may be
troubling for younger
Analysis Of Book Of Judith By Artemisia Gentileschi
I think it s natural for no matter viewers or historians trying to psychoanalyze artists
artworks. When a person appreciates an artwork, he/she would analyze different
aspects including stylistic characteristics and cultural context like what we are
practicing now. I believe that Artemisia Gentileschi was somehow working out her
feelings about her circumstances through her work. Although it is just a biblical
scene from the Old Testament Book of Judith and a typical example of Baroque art
due to the Catholic Counter Reformation, Artemisia Gentileschipainted this scene at
least six times in a dramatic way. Looking at the painting, the expression on Judith s
face is extremely vivid. She looks determined for pressing Holofernes head hard
Born Into Brothels Rhetorical Analysis
Rhetorical Analysis of Born into Brothels In Calcutta s red light district, several
children are trying to get by in brothels. Their mothers are prostitutes and their fathers
are gone, unreliable or unknown. Zana Briski journeys to Calcutta to photograph the
lives of the prostitutes, and she ends up teaching their children about cameras and
photography. Briski finds that the kids have true potential, not only in their
photography but in their lives. She tries as hard as she can to find better futures for
them. Born into Brothels tells this story. The film uses contrast, appeals to pathos
and use of visuals to convey the tragedy of the children s every day, and also the
hope for their future to those who have no idea about their situation.... Show more

Finally, Born into Brothels uses visuals show how these children have potential.
Several times the film shows the actual photographs taken by the kids. This allows
the audience to see Calcutta through their eyes. We are able to see things that are
worth photographing from people who grew up on those streets. As an outsider,
everything there would seem unusual, so it s almost surprising which scenes they
capture. The simplicity of the way they see a place that must be so complicated for
them. It is this place they want to leave, they have to leave but at the same time, it
is their only home. Also, it s almost starling how good the pictures are. They are
very true and raw, and each one tells its own story. The film shows these photographs
to prove that these kids have real potential. They are smart and creative and caring.
This film shows that anyone from anywhere can be somebody. The use of this
strategy is effective because of our expectations that the children s photographs will
be mediocre. It is sad that we automatically assume that they are not talented, and the
film effectively disproves that theory. Born into Brothels uses contrast, pathos and
photographs to illustrate a struggle to find children a better future and the fact that
they have a lot of potential even though they come from such a violent beginning.
The use of these rhetorical strategies is, for the most part,

Hussey believes that without a proper market analysis, analysis of the external
environment, and a strategic plan to improve, the organization will fail. The first
individual to conceptualize the idea of strategic decision making by upper
management and senior officials was Igor Ansoff in the 1960 s. Although Ansoff did
not invent the idea of strategy, he did bring the idea of using strategic decision
making for large corporations to succeed. In his book, Corporate Strategy, Ansoff
identified 4 major decision types every organization must make. Decisions on
strategy, policy, standard operating procedures, and programs were the 4 decisions
Ansoff believed every organization needed to make (Strategic management, 2005).
Ansoff was nicknamed the father of strategic management. Although Ansoff had a
complex thought process on the concept of strategic management, his ideas all
stemmed from similar thoughts. He summarized his thoughts on strategy by saying,
The key to strategy is recognizing that if a company is functioning, it is part of the
environment. When a manager understands the environment and is recognizing that
the environment is constantly changing, then the manager can make the correct
decisions in leading the organizations into the future (Ansoff, Igor, 2003). Henry
Mintzberg is also an important figure in the history and writings of strategic planning

Self Evaluation As a writer I can feel myself improving, but there is still a lot of
work to be done. I used to hate writing because it was not one of the things that I am

A few things that I know I need to work on and I really struggle with is fragments
and comma splices. I honestly do not fully understand what they mean. For the
next paper I feel as if I should do some research on how to fix those errors on my
own, rather than relying on the person who edits my paper. I feel as if it would be in
my best interest to find a website that explains the things I really struggle
Who Is The Protagonist In Miss Brill
The short story Miss Brill , by Katherine Mansfield, is written in third person. Miss
Brill is a English teacher who lives in French. The narration describes a story of a
lonely person named Miss Brill who believes she is a special person. She spends her
time walking and sitting in a park each Sunday in the afternoons where nobody talks
with her. Because Miss Brillwas to lonely, she watches and listens others people
conversations. This Miss Brill s attitude brings to her a sensation of she was
accompanied in her imagination. She thought that the people in the park miss her
when she is absent, but honestly they do not want that she stays there. In the story

Each Sunday she goes and seats in the park where she spent all the afternoons.
Example of her loneliness is when the author says: Only two people share her special
seat: a fine old man in a velvet coat... and a big old woman, sitting upright, with a
roll of knitting on her embroidered apron. They did not speak. This was
disappointing, for Miss Brill always looked forward to the conversation . This is
really frustrating for her. Although it was so brilliantly fine the blue sky powdered
with gold and great spots of light like white wine splashed over the Jardins
Publiques Miss Brill was glad that she had decided on her fur . The reader can
associate the fur with all things that Mss Brill does not have. Her only company or
treasure is what the author describes as Dear little thing or Little Rogue . This is
the only thing that she care and appreciate in her life. In fact, she is reassured and
comforted by the presence of the fur around her neck: Miss Brill put her hand and
touched her fur. [...] It was nice to feel it again . The fur symbolizes everything she
doesn t have in her life. It is really sad, to live without some aspirations, without

just stays living the around people s lives. One example of how the author describes

Modeling Of Fractal Antenna Using Artificial Neural
Network
1. Title: Modeling of fractal antenna using Artificial Neural Network.
2.Introduction: In high performance spacecraft, aircraft, missile and satellite
applications, where size, weight, cost, performance, ease of installation, and
aerodynamic profile are constraints, low profile antennas may be required. Presently,
there are many other government and commercial applications, such as mobile radio
and wireless communications that have similar specifications. To meet these
requirements, micro strip antennas can be used [1,2].
The expensive growth of wireless system and booming demand for variety of new
wireless application,it is important to design an antenna whose size, shape, weight
and cost will be less. If it is possible that a single antenna can work on more than
one frequency then it is good for us. So generally fractal antenna is used as multiband
antenna.
The fractal geometry concept can be used to reduce antenna size. So fractal shaped
antennas are good choice to reduce antenna size and get multiband behavior.
The fractal antenna can be classified on the basis of iteration as 0 iteration,1st
iteration,2nd iteration etc.
For fulfilling all the requirement introduced above fractal microstrip patch antennas
are designed. As the number of iteration increases the time consume for solving
matrix generated in simulator based on method of moment(IE3D) increases. Due to
this reason we are designing an artificial neural network for microstrip fractal antenna.

Young Actors And Actors Essay
Young actors and actresses are some of the most famous people in the world. They
are idolized by millions of fans across the world, who look to them as a role model
for them or their children. As young actors start to gain more fame, the public eye
on that person starts to get larger and larger as people wait for that person to make
a mistake. When that person finally does make a mistake, the media starts
criticizing that person which can hurt his or her public perception. While it is
damaging to that person, it is important to hold all young actors and actresses to a
high standard. All young actors and actresses should be held to a higher standard
than ordinary people because they are always in the public eye. All young actors
and actresses have a great talent, and some use that talent to star in some of the
biggest and most watched television series and movies. These shows are usually
watched by millions of people across the world and can cause some of them to
look at these young actors and actresses in a completely different light. Some
people (especially young people) can start to follow their favorite young actors
and actresses careers very closely and even look to them as a role model. They
even start to look toward their favorite young actors and actresses to see what is
popular to wear, watch on television, and even how they should act. That is why
young actors and actresses are held to a higher standard because they do influence
people on how to act in their

The Boundary Layer Of An Object
1. The boundary layer is investigated for the situation that fluid is passing through an
object, where around the object the layer of boundary is formed. Imagine the
circumstance that the aircraft is flying in the sky, the wing is cutting through the air.
The boundary layer around the wing could be observed, which is a thin and a highly
sheared region. It is the layer that looks random and chaotic but also has structure on
it. The Boundary layer is a complex structure, which is classified from Laminar,
Transition, to Turbulent around the body depending on different aspects like:
Reynolds number, surface roughness, skin friction drag, pressure gradient and etc.
The near wall turbulent coherent structure is thus the study of the turbulent coherent
structure that is close to the surface of the body. Any structure of the turbulent is the
reflected of Kinetic energy through the process of production, diffusion,
transformation and etc. It corresponds to the majority of energy production within the
structure. The actives that involve the structure are happened near the wall, which
turns out the importance of near wall investigation, and worth to put the emphasis on.
The 3 dimensional coherent structures are the small region that exists within the
turbulent boundary layer. It has the correction which has its own aspects either in
space or time. The term coherent structure implies to the boundary layer structure
indicate that events are occurred logical and consistent within the

Makeup Of Makeup
Samuel Pepys did make note of the heavy makeup used by Nell Gwynne and her
co worker Mrs. Knepp on stage, and how frightful he found it, so it is likely that
even if makeup, in general, had an artificial look, stage makeup went a few steps
further. Red cheeks connoted youthfulness and health, yellow cheeks age and
illness. The eyes were outlined with black and shaded with colored pigment, blue
being quite popular. Hair powder was used on the stage as well, and the color of it
could be used either to compliment the actor or actress s look, or be chosen to suit
the character they played. False facial hair was another means to change an actor s
look. Makeup in the 17th and 18th century was quite simple, but with a very
artificial look. The ideal, for both men and women, was a pale face, enhanced with
cosmetics aimed to lighten the complexion or with white makeup. As with the lips,
there is no real evidence that brows were blotted out and repainted higher up on the
brow, though that may have happened in the theatre for effect. Patches were very
popular throughout both the 17th and 18th century, most commonly round and black
made out of taffeta, velvet or paper, but larger and more elaborate shapes were also in
use (Samuel Pepysdiary).
Theatre goers also enjoyed seeing women in breeches roles in which a female
character disguised herself as a man by wearing tight pants that exposed their legs.
Breeches roles are found in plays from the 1660s, such as Nell Gwyn as Florimel

Essay about Influential Poets of the Beat Generation
The Beat Generation of poets was created by a group of poets in the 1950s that
were part of a new culture in literature. They chose to use their experiences in their
writings which were widely criticized as well as loved by many readers. Two of the
most influential Beat Poets of that Generation of writers were Allen Ginsbergand
Lawrence Ferlinghetti. The Beat Generationpoetry was the first poets to write about
non conventional subjects as well as using different forms of expression in their
works. This generation of poets greatly influenced poets such as Anne Sexton, who
wrote about personal experiences as well. The Beat Generation s style of poetry have
influenced many generations of poets after them.

rejection of materialism and freedom of expression. The members of this movement
were known as non conformists and were spontaneously creative in their writings.
Thomas Merrill states that the influence of drugs in the movement was:
The incessant search for reality within (through drugs, meditation and intense feeling)

before, and I nearly yanked my hair out every time. This time I m calling it quits. I
refuse to make a decision, and I refuse to write this essay. So let me perish in the
flames of failure, or in simpler terms let me fail, but forcing an indecisive girl like
myself to make a decision such as this is just plain barbaric. Welcome to the world
of reason number four. Yes, that s right, I actually have more than three reasons to

choose to take. I ll stick to my original plans, thank you very much. I would tell
you, but that is not part of my argument and would only detract from the
seriousness and importance of my point. Reason number four is that all of my
beliefs really are simple. They shouldn t take much explaining. In fact, I don t know
how I managed to write all of those previous essays. If I remember right, there was a
good amount of me adding a bunch of things that didn t need to be in there, in short
they were completely filled with redundancy. These essays were very much like

Technology In Star Wars
Technology today is changing rapidly, and we are transitioning into a more futuristic
society to which we can start developing to a brighter future for the human race. We
are emerging to a society that constantly produces the most modern and greatest
pieces of technology. We are creating reusable rockets, robots that teach each other s,
immune engineering, and cars that can drive themselves. Imagine thirty or forty
years from now what we can build to produce a more successful society. The movie
Star Wars could be instrumental in the development of something great for our
society. We could use the movie to build a great and powerful society that could

In the 1980s, special effects started becoming more popular in film making.
Movies, such as, Die Hard, Back To The Future and Lethal Weapon would have not
become so popular as they did without Star Wars. Because of the movie, weapons
and robots began making their way into real life. For example, a Hong Kong
company made an ultra powerful handheld laser that looks like a lightsaber. Walking
robots resembling the giant AT ATs that Imperial forces used to attack rebels are
being developed for the military to carry equipment where conventional vehicles can
t go. The U.S. Army s Future Soldier Initiative went as far as to draft plans for armor
that looked much like what Imperial storm troopers wore, although in light of the
probable cost, they face an uncertain future (Choi). There was another Star Wars
movie that influenced a technology company. The chief technology officer for
Microsoft demonstrated a Death Star bug zapper at a technology conference that
was designed to use lasers to shoot down airborne mosquitoes. The purpose of the
design was not just to crush microscopic rebels, but to help prevent certain diseases
such as malaria (Choi). If everything goes well for Microsoft, a future influenced
by Star Wars could go on to save lives. Force fields were also used in the movie,
which were energy shields that were designed to protect soldiers, machines and
spacecraft that were in battle. Very similar technology had recently been patented by
American aerospace companies. The use of levitation technology (such as hover
bikes) has also been developed for military purposes

Mining Asteroids For Resources Interests
Mining asteroids for resources interests me because I would consider myself as a
heavy consumer of electronic goods such as smartphones and computers and
therefore I am keen to know about the future of this technology. At the beginning of
my IGCSE Global Perspectives course, we looked at natural resources which I think
also contributed to my decision to look into this topic. I would like to be more aware
of how much resources currently remain on Earthbecause the media constantly
reports on how little resources we have left. From news articles I have seen so far
about asteroid mining, it is seen as a beneficial way for Earth to get resources that
we currently have a shortage of. For this project, I will be looking at the current
situation of resources, what minerals can be obtained from asteroids, how easy it
would be to obtain these resources and how effective asteroid mining would be to
solving the current shortage of resources. In my opinion, I believe that this process
will significantly contribute to the shortage of resources and it will be very
financially beneficial.
Abstract
Asteroid Mining is a proposed solution to the current decline of resources on Earth.
As I currently understand this is done by sending a spacecraft capable of mining
asteroids, small planets and other near earth objects such as comets. Once extracting
the minerals from these asteroids, they then get sent back to Earth and get used in
industrial and consumer goods. I would not consider this
Jcpenney Case Study Summary
Jcpenney s pricing marketing strategy has been a main hindrance to the success their
business and service launch. According to the article, A Strategic Mistake That
Haunts JCPenney explains why this business continues to lose money and will not
likely experience a turnaround towards improvement. Since six years ago, when CEO
Ron Johnson implemented their pricing strategy, Jcpenney has experienced slow
sales growth and multiple store closings. The pricing strategy which lead to their
downfall began when they replaced coupon sales with everyday low prices. However,
the old pricing strategy allow customers to feel intelligent and motivated them to
speak with different consumers about it. Apparently, Jcpenney withdrew from their
old pricing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, they still have not created the hype or energy to get consumers motivated
about their products. The valuable lesson to learn from this was that once the hype is
gone, it is gone.
In conclusion to the summary of the article, I believe that Jcpenney could have done
some things differently that could have helped and still improve this company. First,
I believe Jcpenney should have consider the fact, when CEO Ron Johnson was
considering the new pricing strategy was that Jcpenney and Apple were two
completely different types stores. Apple is about the coolest and latest technology
while Jcpenney is about fashion and home goods. I believe that Jcpenney should
have capitalize on what they had and emphasizes that could get a better deal by
shopping at their stores.
Furthermore, I recommend that Jcpenney try to implemented celebrity endorsements.
If Jcpenney implemented celebrity endorsements, this company could create a
competitive edge to their brand. For example, the brand Nike is endorsed by many
reputable people in professional sports. Therefore, when consumers see this brand
on commercials or social media they will know that this brand is cool. Also, many
celebrities and my friends are all wearing this brand too. So, I believe that if
consumers see and hear people enjoying and wearing this brand then they would
want to wear it too or
Gender Roles In Monty Python And The Holy Grail
Monty Python and the Holy Grail, directed by Terry Gilliam and Terry Jones, tells
the story of King Arthur and he and his knight s quest for the Holy Grail. The
writing and directing of the movie shows the problems of society. Monty Python
and the Holy Grail uses satirical techniques to expose gender roles and greed at the
expense of others. The Black knight exposes how often now and in history gender
roles affect society. While it can be displayed in multiple places in the movie, it is
most evident here. The scene shows King Arthur encounter a knight keen on fighting.
But when king arthur begins chopping off the knights limbs, he is not hurt at all it
seems. He responds simply Tis but a flesh wound . When Arthur chops off all of the

Martel explores the theme of human survival through the symbolism of the colour
orange. Hope and survival are portrayed through the colour orange. This is evident
when Pi s daughter Usha walked into the living room, holding an orange cat in her

who helped Pi survive which gives the reader hope that, this story has a happy
ending (pg 93) implying that Pi survived the misfortune. The colour orange is also
portrayed through Orange Juice who was the Orang utan. She provided emotional
support that helped Pi maintain hope in the midst of the tragedy. This is evident
when she arrives on the floating bananas and Pi says, Pondicherry fertility goddess,

Under capital gain tax (CGT), property owners have enjoyed preferential tax
treatment for decades, possibly with exemption allowed for residential relief as well
as benevolent tax exclusions on imputed rental income for the owners and capital
growth from the disposal of a primary residence. As stated, this lengthy essay has

1.2AIMS OBJECTIVES
The chapters that follow each focus on taxation aspect of residential CGT, Income Tax

CHAPTER 2: SECTION A ANSWER
2.1THEORECTICAL BACKGROUND OF CAPITAL GAIN TAX RULES
In 1965, Capital Gain Tax (CGT) was first announced without undertaking tax
purpose, which ultimately stimulate tax avoidance in term of converting taxable
income into tax free capital gains. Until the amendment of subsequent Finance
Acts, CGT is considered for its tax implication after several improvements were
made into the Taxation of Chargeable Gains Act 1992 between 1965 and 1982.
Theoretically, CGT liability involves when chargeable asset is chargeable disposed
by a chargeable person and only UK residence or ordinary UK residence are
allowed for CGT. As a consolidation from removing major reliefs, any taper,
indexation or inflation are no longer accounted which made the rules in some ways

Improving Feeding Outcomes in the NICU:
Establishing an Infant Driven Feeding Pathway
Laura Pabich BSN, RN
The University of Iowa College of Nursing Improving Feeding Outcomes in the
NICU:
Establishing an Infant Driven Feeding Pathway
The most common reason preterm infants face prolonged hospitalization in a
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is a delay in acquiring full oral feedings
(Shaker, 2013). The purpose of this project is to improve feeding outcomes for
preterm infants at Blank Children s Hospital s (BCH) NICU in Des Moines, Iowa.
Traditionally, feeding practices in the NICU have followed a physician led, volume
driven model based on an infant s weight and gestational age. This model defines a
preterm infant s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Feeding difficulties often persist past NICU discharge with an incidence ranging
from 19 to 80 percent (Shaker, 2013; Sundseth, 2013). The average daily cost for
NICU care often exceeds $3,500 per infant and a delay in establishing full oral
feedings further increases the cost of care (Murakas, 2008). Delayed discharge also
places infants at risk for hospital related morbidity, leads to prolonged maternal child
separation and increases parental stress (Gennattasio, Perri, Baranek, Rohan, 2015).
Preterm infants face a number of challenges in attaining full oral feedings including
physiologic instability, neurologic immaturity and behavioral state disorganization
(Gennattasio, Perri, Baranek, Rohan, 2015). The time in which preterm infants are
learning to feed is characterized by rapid motor and neurodevelopment in which
every feeding experience plays a role (Shaker, 2013). Physiologic stress during
feeding may encourage sensory motor pathways in the brain, leading to maladaptive
feeding behaviors, learned feeding refusals and long term feeding aversions
(Shaker, 2013). Traditional, volume driven feeding practices fail to account for an
infant s hunger cues, the physiologic stress caused by the challenge of oral feeding
and the quality of an individual feeding (Newland, Weems L Huillier, Petrey, 2013).
According to Sundseth Ross and Browne (2013), feeding practices must move from
Michael Henchard Foil
According to the Online Dictionary for Literary Devices, The etymology of the
term foil testifies the aforementioned assertion as the word foil is taken from the
practice of backing gems with foil (tool) so that they shine more brightly.
Throughout The Mayor of Casterbridge, Thomas Hardy sets up multiple pairs of
characters as foils to contrast them and express his opinion of what attributes a
person should have. Michael Henchard, who cares more for personal gain, is a foil
to Richard Newson, who cares for his wife and daughter. Elizabeth Jane Newson
outshines Lucetta Templeman with her belief that a person s character is more
valuable than outward appearance; in a similar sense, Donald Farfrae surpasses
Henchard in character and shows... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While Henchard is still Mayor of Casterbridge, he sets up an event in a field for
people to attend. However, Henchard s plan fails because, A number of people had
heroically gathered in the field, but by three o clock Henchard discerned that his
project was doomed to end in failure... But where are the folk? said Henchard, after
the lapse of half an hour, during which time only two men and a woman had stood
up to dance. The shops are all shut. Why don t they come? They are at Farfrae s
affair in the West Walk (103 104). This event is the first major conflict that occurs
between Henchard and Farfrae, and this starts to develop the characters as foils.
While Henchard hosts an event in the rain, Farfrae hosts an event indoors that is
popular; this shows Hardy s belief that intelligence is a positive trait to have. Hardy
shows that Farfrae uses logic and gains favor in the town while Henchard does not
and starts to become unpopular. Also defining Henchard and Farfrae as foils, Farfrae
shows self control and understands how to control his anger. After Henchard
embarrasses himself in front of Royalty, Farfrae meets him and chastises him by
saying,
You insulted Royalty, Henchard; and twas my duty, as the chief magistrate, to stop
you. Royalty be damned, said Henchard. I am as loyal to you, come to that! I am not
here to argue.
Gun Control Laws Should be Tightened Essay
According to James Madison in his Federalist Papers, Americans have the right and
advantage of being armed unlike the citizens of other countries whose governments
are afraid to trust the people with arms, (Raymond). Madison may be correct about
Americans having more rights than many other countries, but sometimes the
government has too much trust in the American people. Taking away all privately
owned guns does not solve anything because doing so would consequentially create
a communist state. Instead, the best solution is to control who buys guns and for
what purpose. There are over 283 million licensed guns in the U.S. (Herbert 1),
which does not include the unregistered and illegal guns people own, buy, and sell

Ironically enough, white, southern men are one of the highest groups of people to
own guns (White 3). As the technology, build, and practicality of the hand gun
changed over the past couple of hundred years, so has the increased want and
demand. Of course, as more people started owning guns, the crime rate and deaths
by gun shot up. Basically, it used to be every man for himself. As the government
started worrying farther than just setting the rules but actually having people
abide by the rules, laws and restrictions were set to try to regulate who owned guns
and why they would use them. In 1934, Congress first started regulating the sale of
automatic firearms. Not until four years later did the government think to make it
federal law to require gun sellers to be licensed and to prohibit felons from
purchasing them (Newsbatch 1). Even with rules that shops were supposed to
follow, there are loopholes. The problem with some people in the U.S. is they will
go buy guns because they have no criminal record, and then sell it to someone who
is willing to pay them for the gun. Different laws over the years, still standing and
also withdrawn, have spelled out different ideas of regulations, The Gun Control Act
of 1968 regulated imported guns, expanded gun dealer licensing requirements, and
expanded the list of persons not eligible to buy guns to include person convicted of
any non business related felony, minors, persons found to be mentally incompetent,
and users of
Daylight As A Healing Element
Chapter Four
Daylight as a healing element
It has been established that a healing environment has a positive effect on the human
being given the information mentioned above. In addition, healing architecture
suggests that the incorporation of natural elements during the design process of the
building is essential. The investigation on the themes of healing architecture lead to
the conclusion that the luminous environment plays an important role and an integral
part of the hospital s healing environment (Aripin, 2006).However, it was noticed
that many studies on the subject of daylight focus on schools, offices and commercial
buildings but few on hospitals (Aripin, 2006).Therefore ,a decision was made in
investigating how daylight can be used efficiently in a hospital setting in order to
promote an effective healing environment.
In recent literature, a number of studies have been conducted in order to showcase
how daylight could be beneficial on the human being in both physiological and
physical aspects. As a matter fact, Richard J. Wurtman suggested that lightis the most
environmental input, after food and water, in controlling bodily functions (Hattie
Anderman , 2013). In addition, The Commission for Architecture and the Built
Environment (CABE) published a report which proposed that light could have a
positive impact during the recovery process of the patient.
Moreover, Roger S.Ulrich carried out a trial in order to see if indeed natural light has

Negative Effects Of Facebook Addiction
Nahla Odish Professor Freeman ESL 119 20 Nov. 2017 How Bad Is Addiction To
Facebook? Facebook is one of the most widely used social sites in the world, and
due to its broad reach and usage, it has dramatically influenced lives in the world.

Analysis Of The Black Grizzly Of Whiskey Creek
In his creative nonfiction novel, The Black Grizzly of Whiskey Creek by Sid
Marty, the author recounts the story of a grizzly bear who became unafraid of
people and went on the attack. He warns readers about aggressive bears while
creating a worst case scenario situation. Throughout the novel, Marty uses fear to
create mood. He also uses the setting to create uncertainty in terms of survival. Lastly,
Marty develops different conflicts in his creative nonfiction novelin order to relay his
message. In the end, the author writes about how human interaction with nature can
lead to conflict and ultimately death.
Throughout the novel, the author uses the setting to create uncertainty in terms of
survival. The unique way in which Marty uses the setting to create conflict, allows
the reader to visualize and understand the real life issues that the park wardens and
police were faced with when on the great manhunt for the dangerous bear. The

On the first day of practicum the children were all engaged in free playtime and I

the children. I would periodically look around the room, while still being attentive
to what I was doing. I would move throughout the room spending time with each

The Battle Of Iowa Jima
Throughout recorded history, wars have been waged across almost every culture
and continent. However, despite the long and recurrent history of war, the way
different societal groups perceive and act towards conflict differs widely. The Battle
of Iowa Jima took place close to the end of World War II between the United States
and Japan. The American marines invaded the island of Iowa Jima on February 19
1945, in order to gain access to the island s airfields and create a base for attacking
mainland Japan. The battle proved to be a significant defeat for the Japanese with
only 3216 survivors out of the initial 21000 soldiers. However, despite being heavily
outnumbered and suffering from a lack of food/supplies, the Japanese soldiers
persisted their stand for 35 days. Letters from Iowa Jima and Flags of Our Fathers
(2006) are companion films that depict the Battle of Iowa Jima from the perspective
of the Japanese and Americans, respectively. The films effectively portray the widely
different social and political attitudes that were present in both countries. It was
apparent that the Japan s nationalism stemmed from fear, honor and oppression.
Whereas in the United States, patriotism was constructed through the government s
romanticized depiction of warand the country s superiority. Japan s nation state
enforced the patriotic ideology that soldiers should be honored to fight and die in
battle, while holding the social Darwinist belief that Japanese soldiers were more

The Role Of Nurse Management Asthma And School Health
Program
Asthma is one of most common diseases in children and considered a burden of
physical and emotional childhood. A figure indicates that the percentage of children
with asthma in Australia is similar to in America (Aloola al et., 2014), moreover, the
findings of Grover al et. (2013) indicate probably that asthma is a common and
burden of developed countries, including Australia and America. This essay will
evaluate these artefacts and journals that indicate accurately and precisely about
psychosocial effects of living with asthma as regards less self management,
challenging in educational environment, including classmate attitude. These reasons
are highly serious risk of psychiatric illness, so this essay will discuss about the role
of nurse in management asthma and schoolhealth program.
Children in primary school have less self management about asthma because of
insufficient experience and young age. The study of Gabe, Bury Ramsay (2002)
considered that those participants aged 11 16 who living with asthma should be
more active and independent to cope and manage with its symptoms. It also argued
that if adults were less experience in managing asthma in childhood in the past, they
would have triggers in their life and social relations. A first fact that the mortality of
death from asthma in the period of 2004 2013 is more common among older
children, and young children is less likely to die than older one (Asperen, 2015), the
other figure indicate that the mortality rate
Daisy Buchanan Adaptation
Why read the book when I can just watch the movie? This is an argument many
teachers have with their students. With technology constantly changing and
becoming available, nearly every movie is at the hands of our students. Novel
adaptations became somewhat of an enemy to teachers, a shortcut for students
unwilling to read the assigned material. With the amount of award winning novel to
film adaptations, it seems wasteful not to take advantage of available material.
Instead of keeping film adaptation at an arm s length, teachers should embrace
adaptations and use them as a tool in their classrooms. There are various types of

changes, you can appreciate the work as its own entity. Instruct students to note the
differences between the book and film while viewing. After each viewing discuss
as a class the differences and why you think the director and screenwriter chose to
make those decisions. In an article on using film adaptations, Dennis Cutchins found
both he and his students gained further knowledge about The Great Gatsby after
comparing the differences between novel Daisy Buchanan and film Daisy
Buchanan (***). The students found film Daisy an unlikeable and spoiled
character. After Cutchins got over his initial shock, he investigated why he felt
sympathetic toward Daisy. He discovered that through Nick s narration, the reader
sees Daisy the way Nick does, with love and admiration. Her quirks and behaviors
are more understandable and adorable since Nick thinks so. When watching the film
viewers do not get this point of view, they are left to their own opinions. This
revelation leads Cutchins to a classroom experiment. He chose two students who
fluently spoke the same foreign language, he had one student leave the classroom and
the other translate a poem from English to the foreign language. He then had the
other student come in and translate the poem back to English based on the prior
student s translation. What Cutchins and his class discovered were the difference
between the original English poem and the double translated poem. This discovery is
a major positive for using adaptations, you learn most from what you do not see than
what you do
The Shaping Of The Modern World Essay

The Shaping of the Modern World

Question #5: The Growth and dominance of Capitalism and the Industrial Revolution
transformed the world. Explain the different positions and outlooks on capitalism and
the Industrial Revolution taken by Adam Smith, Karl Marx, and Friedrich Engels.
The growth, influence, and power of the world surrounds itself around capitalism and
the Industrial Revolution. Capitalism is best described as the economic and political
system where different countries trade. It is the economic market of the world in
which it provides the needs and demands for supplies; opposed to the industrial
revolution where that refers to the transformation of technology.
As discussed in class, the late 1400s were where many economic conducts were
controlled by families, religion, tradition and political authority rather than by
markets. The manufacturing of goods was done using hand tools and machines in
the comfort of households and in small farms. Particularly on farms, workers were
required to perform hard labor, making the life of the average person emphatically
difficult as results were diseases and malnourishment. In essence, the Industrial
Revolution played a major role with the economic market. As the economy
improved, longer work days for workers were given since the demand for supplies
became increased.
On the other hand, capitalism was becoming very popular and people were
Tiger Woods And Its Effect On Golf
Golf. A sport that was dull and mundane twenty years ago, evolved when Tiger
Woods came to the scene. I started golfing during high school and loved it for the
single fact, Tiger Woods played it. Growing up I pictured golf as that once boring
sport played by old white men lacking a fan base. Just like myself, many people
hated the idea of watching golf, so the sport needed a change. Tour earnings were
low, scoring was average, and young people did not want to pick up the sport. Tiger
Woodscame on the tour in 1997 and astronomically changed the view of golf. The
Tiger Effect on golf is real and more people have been trying to work harder to get
to that Tiger bench mark. He single handily brought golf to the limelight and made it
interesting to watch this godly like figure tear up the greens while becoming an idol
to young golfers around the world.
Just do it. Nike s famous quote is seen everywhere across the world, but what
exactly does it mean? In a new commercial developed by Nike in early 2015, titled
Ripple, the widely known global empire portrayed their famous phrase. The two
main characters in this piece of media are Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, two
well known and successful golfers. The commercial displays the life of little Rory
growing up, following the career of his idol, Tiger Woods to eventually teeing off
with him. This abstract commercial had an enormous effect on audiences, because it
revealed the path of a golfer who looked up to Tiger Woods and
New Appliances In The 1920s
Appliances New appliances were a big part of the technological and social change
during the 1920s. The appliances were a big change and was the first attempt of a
smart house . It affected housewives because now that the appliances were there,
society expected them to clean the house faster and keep it tidy all day. Appliances
showed intolerance towards women, mostly housewives. The appliances were an
example of how Americans expected housewives to clean and nice for guests and
husbands since they had the help of appliances. They did not expect the house to
ever be dirty. KKK The KKK was an organization that formed around the civil war,
whose purpose was to discriminate blacks and to deplete their freedom in horrible

It was like a giant party town and changed society in many ways. From Jazz, to
movie theaters, to clubs, Harlem was known by many people and visited by
people from all over. Harlem was a city that showed pure Americanism. It was the
birth of the first American music genre, and brought people together in the clubs
and the movie theaters. Speakeasy Speakeasies were secret bars during
prohibition. These bars were in closed shops at night and other secret spots to hide
from the cops. This was a big change from the nice bars that were legal before
prohibition, but people still went to them. Speakeasies showed the protest of
American s against the government. Even though alcohol was banned, people found
away and went against the amendment, since prohibition was a tad bit ridiculous.
Clubs and Theaters These clubs and theaters were a big hit during the twenties and
were a great landmark of the changes in society during these times. They were
home to great stars and the theaters started the idea of hollywood and movies. Clubs
and Theaters were a perfect example of the intolerance towards just working for
hours a day and having no down time. Now that downtime was a thing, there was
something for people to do at
Essay On Sierra Leone
People in the Sierra Leone have massive problems and sad stories of what they
have seen in their lives. During time of Sierra Leone war, many rebels attacked
people in the villages and other places. This left people with nothing to have and
several families died or were lost. Numerous amounts of people in Serra Leone live
in the refugee camps, which they have faced their own struggles whether you see
them or not. This makes their lives harder and it is not easy for them to express
their feelings. Meanwhile, this causes a plethora of people to live with fear and a
small hope of living in the country. The leaders and security guards in Sierra Leone

Obviously, one of the most important of these basic needs is food. There are
154,000 refugees in Sierra Leone, and the distribution of food in Sierra Leone
camps is difficult for those who are in charge of providing food for the refugees.
Providing food to all refugees in the camp is one of the most difficult jobs one can
do. The main food served in the camps is corn meal. Many refugees are sated to
this kind of food. This posses a problem for many refugees because most of them
do not eat it while others are tired of it. UNHCR uses many farmers to plant food in
the gardens but farmers also have difficult time preparing and digesting the corn
meal. People who provide food use this as opportunity to have sex with women
and young girls in the camps, Helen Kamara one of the refugee in Sierra Leone
said, The secretary general Of our camp told me that, if I did not make love to him
or give him one of seven girls, aged 22 years and 7 months, they would not supply
us with food (Paye Layleh). Sometimes food gets delayed, these refugees would do
anything it take to have food and that would be sex with the secretary generals or
aid workers. These generals and aid workers knows that people needs food, so they
would have to exchange food for
Fitness Club Paper
Resources that will be explored to build the virtual fitness program app are

department ability to build programs. A cost analysis would be completed to
determine the most cost effective way for implementing this initiative. We must
consider initial cost which include hardware, software, training, maintaining systems,
licenses, hosting, and upgrades. As part of this initiative, we would include the
development of a three tier membership program. The first tier membership would
cover all the programs that the club has to offer to include the virtual fitness
programs. The second tier membership would cover only in house programs while
the third tier would only cover the virtual fitness program. By offering this type of

Jfk Light Blue Inaugural Speech Analysis
A primer, or undercoat, is a base layer of paint that goes on a wall before the actual
color of paint. A wall painted dark red will need several layers of primer in order to
be painted a light blue. Think of that dark red wall as a speech, or piece of writing.
Those first pages will need renovation after renovation to get to the final product; the
light blue wall. Before John F. Kennedy made his light blue inaugural speech using
pathos, antithesis, repetition and parallelism, it was a dark red version by Galbraith
and Stevenson that included small amounts of rhetorical devices. After multiple
revisions, they turned a boring, basic speech into a work of art, really, making it one
of the best inaugural speeches ever made. Victory, freedom,
The 1950 s And The National Hot Rod Association (NHRA)
Racing has been around for many years. People are addicted to the speed and the
configuration of racing. Racing has proven to be a great way to get people
together and race cars or according to the video even horses. Racing has come
extremely far, as it used to be illegal to do and now people are making a living off
of it. According to the video, the year of 1949 was the first organized drag race
ever. The racing environment was extremely different then than now. Back then,
there were no entry fees or safety precautions taken. Now there are huge entry fees
and may requirements that must be met for the race car and driver to ensure safety.
Racing exploded in the 1950 s and the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) was
created to ensure that there... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This would ensure that the racing was protected, and it is still around today. The
NHRA helped gain respect for drag racing. I think that the NHRA was a great start
for racing. It helped organize races and make it more respectable to people who
may not understand the love and passion some have for racing. The NHRA used
their safety safari to go all over the country to hot rod races, teaching them
everything from selling tickets to the safety of racing the hot rods. I think that this
really helped racing take off. These people have now learned how to make the
sport safer and gain money in order to proceed with their passion for racing. This
also helped the racers gain sponsors such as Coca Cola and Pepsi. Racing relies off
of sponsors now. There has been so many technological advancements in racing,
that not the average person can afford to go out and be competitive enough to win
without help. When I think about sponsors for racing, almost every single huge
corporation sponsors some sort of race car. The racers are helping the sponsors get
more business, while the sponsors support the race car driver so they can make it
to the track. My family has a deep history in open wheel dirt track racing, and they
would not have been able to compete for so long without the help of sponsors.
Racing had now become some people s way of making a living. They were able to
make enough money to support themselves, but still struggled trying to get to and
from each race. The NHRA toured to England to expand the racing dream to people
all over the world. I think this was a great move by the NHRA because the more
people that are interested the more money involved. This video only proves that
racing is advancing and becoming more enjoyed all over the

Similarities Between Cupid And Psyche And Gilgamesh
Individualities of Humanity In the wilderness, crimson roses gleam with beauty,
while mimosa pudica become hermits in the shadows. The roses display strong love
and independent heroism, as opposed to the mimosa pudica represent themselves as
timidly or cowardly. Opposites show immense differences and have nothing similar
except others around the distinctions. In The Epic of Gilgamesh and Cupid and
Psyche, the heroic Gilgamesh and Psyche project contradicting personalities and
motivations that coincide with the elegant and introvert plants. When they begin their
journeys to accomplishment, their own actions and thoughts become parallel to
Becker s descriptions of a hero in The Hero. As Gilgamesh and Enkidu ventured into

In The Hero, Becker says that people are narcissists and feel the obligation to be
useful or important. Gilgamesh related to the feeling of importance and thought of
an unforgettable figure as Becker says, The hope and belief is that the things that
man creates in society are of lasting worth and meaning, that they outshine death
and decay, that man and his products count (2). Gilgamesh closely related to this
quote because his important wish to have immortality which was granted by the
tales he brought to his people in Uruk. He felt that being well known would help
increase people s minds about his presence in the past and help influence them.
Unlike Gilgamesh, Psyche related to the feeling of wanting to be loved and have
someone to care about her. In Becker s story, he said that even in childhood days,
children feel the need to have a significance and unashamed about what he needs and
wants most (1). Psyche was simply like a child because her selfish and immature
thoughts showed her demands for attention. She not only acted like a childish
person, but also a narcissist because Psyche wanted a variety of things from the
emotion love. As Becker concluded his story, he explained that there were different
characteristics and not only one specific quality in heroes. Varieties of heroes have

Essay on An Analysis of Culture in Things Fall Apart
The novel Things Fall Apart written by Chinua Achebe, is a tale based on the
traditional beliefs and customs of an Ibo village during late 1800 s Africa. Through
the telling of this story, we witness the remarkable depth of Igbo culture through its
functions of religion, politics, judiciary and entertainment. One of Achebe s
challenges was to illustrate the Ibo s religious system. Even though the Ibo people
had little contact with the outside world, they had developed their own beliefs and
practices that became essential elements in their everyday lives. The Ibo religion
played a role in the way they raised their families, communicated, entertained, and
governed their society. Similar to those of the early Egyptian and Greek religions,...

As well as maintaining good morals and values, the Ibo people further connected
with their gods and ancestors through the act of sacrifice. The Ibo people would
sacrifice anything from fruit, small animals and in some instances, people. On
page 17, Unoka explains that, before I put any crop in the earth, I sacrifice a cock
to Ani, the owner of all land. It is the law of our fathers. I also kill a cock at the
shrine of Ifejioku, the god of yams. Although some of the practices of the Ibo
religion may seem harsh, its primary goal is to maintain a peaceful and just society.
Just as the Ibo celebrate religion with their gods, they also celebrate with each other.
Later on page 97, Tortoise explains that he has, ...learned that a man who makes
trouble for others is also making it for himself, which demonstrates how the Ibo
people followed principles similar to that of the golden rule found in many other
religions of the time. Achebe also illustrates the Ibo judiciary and political system
throughout the entire story. Similar to those in other cultures, the Ibo people had a
very structured social order. In the beginning of the story on page 18, Achebe
describes Nwakibie s status in the Ibo village by stating he, ...had taken the highest but

Synthesis Tert-Butyl Chloride Sn2 Report
In order to synthesis tert butyl chloride, HCl is used in a substitution reaction to
displace an OH molecule that is connected to the tert butyl molecule. Substitution
reactions for alkyl halides can go one of two ways; an Sn1 reaction or an Sn2
reaction. An Sn1 reaction is unimolecular (only depends on the substrate), and
requires a very weak nucleophile, a polar protic solvent and favors tertiary alkyl
halides as the electrophiles. An Sn2 reaction is the opposite and is bimolecular
(depends on the substrate and nucleophile), requires a very strong nucleophile, a
polar aprotic solvents and favors primary alkyl halides as the electrophile. There are
a number of factors that can affect the efficiency of these reactions. An Sn2 reaction

Should We Try To Change America
As Nikita Khrushchev once said, America will fall without a shot being fired. It
will fall within. And America may be on that crash course. We need a strength
from within, To rise above all. The next step we take shouldn t be the last one. We,
as Americans are free, but, of course, we should not be robbed of that freedom. It s
gotten progressively worse, and now, than the presidential election is right around
the corner, America, I feel, is about to fall. Nevertheless, America is a great country
within itself. But what I m trying to say is, we should patch it the butchered trail we
left behind. On the contrary, I think America is still chugging just fine, for now. I
feel if we try to change, we will collapse. This seems

organizations depend a lot on gathering and sharing information. They are law
enforcement bodies that focus on prevention of crime. They patrol the areas, respond
to calls, investigate crime scenes and make arrests. Existing police information
system is not quick enough to meet the urgency characteristic required by the public
security industry. All the tasks require technology that enables them to access
information easily, as and when required so as to increase the efficiency of the police
department. This paper focuses on the use of face recognition technology that enables
these police officials to gather details about criminals, suspects or normal citizens.
The system supports the functionality including searching and collecting information,

The Schwarzenegger Campaign Committee Depicts
Angelides
Family Schwarzenegger
In the ad Family, the Schwarzenegger campaign committee depicts Angelides as a
someone intending to hurt families and businesses with his new taxes. The ad
shows the viewers that with Angelides, California would be moving backwards
instead of forwards like with Schwarzenegger. It claims he intends to create new
taxes that will ultimately destroy families and small businesses by making it harder
to afford the big items in life we all tend to strive for. With the use of pathos, ethos
and logos, this ad creates emotional appeal with family matters and shows the
character and credibility of Angelides vs Schwarzenegger.
In the beginning the ad is in black and white with Angelides walking backwards.
This is no doubt a metaphor for California taking a step backwards with Angelides
as governer. The ad uses images of families and children to tap into our emotional
view. Attempting to show people with families that with Angelides as governer,
they will undoubtably be unable to support their families. Jib Fowles explains how
images tap into our emotional appeal in his essay Advertising 15 basic appeals. He
states Some few ads have their emotional appeal in the text but for the greater
number by far the appeal is contained in the artwork. This makes sense, since visual
communication better suits more primal levels of the brain. The ad uses these
images to appeal to the viewers parental side, making the audience feel they need to

  • 2. Pierre Elliot Trudeau Essay Pierre Elliot Trudeau was the fifteenth prime minister of Canada. He had many accomplishments that benefited all of Canada which include the official language act of Canada where he made French and English the official languages, the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedom, and the liberalization of laws on abortion, homosexuality and the legalization of lotteries. These are only a few of the many accomplishments that Pierre Trudeauachieved for Canadawhile his position in Parliament that was important. Pierre Trudeau first brought out the official language act of Canada in 1969. He presented the Canadian population with the beliefs that Canada should have two official languages, French and English. These would serve two purposes, one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This charter means that everyone no matter what race, religion, sex, national origin, age or mental and physical abilities they have they are protected. The charter allows people to have basic human fundamental rights that most government rules and regulations were restricting before it came into act. The freedom of speech, religion and to associate yourself with whoever you want are just some of those rights that are being offered with the entrenchment of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Finally the last achievements that Pierre Trudeau did that assisted in making Canada better are the legalization of laws on abortion, homosexuality and lotteries. In 1968 Pierre Trudeau liberalized laws on abortion, homosexuality and public lotteries. Trudeau s most famous quote came from the legalization of homosexuality and that quote is there s no place for the state in the bedrooms of the nation #. Trudeau views people s lives as personal and their decision to have sexual intercourse, be in a relationship or marry whatever sex they prefer is their own decision and that is why this law is particularly a good one for the gay and lesbian population of Canada. Instead of being punished for liking the same sex they are now able to be with who they want to be with. Pierre Trudeau also brought in the abortion law which allows women to have an abortion granted that they get permission from three doctors who say that the pregnancy will negatively affect them
  • 3. The Philosophy of International and Free Trade A trade liberalization process on a global scale has started since the post WWII period, with most countries pursuing the philosophy of international and national free trade. Even though the complete free trade has not been made possible yet, and maybe it will never be, numerous agreements have been made in the name of trade liberalization. They allowed the trade between different countries and within the same country to a certain degree of liberalization where several new business practices can be implemented. The two highest expressions of this trade liberalization are off shoring and outsourcing. Moreover these two practices are more and more often applied together. However, it is crucial to clearly distinct the differences between off shoring and outsourcing. It is common mistake to consider them as synonyms. Off shoring can occur without out sourcing necessarily taking place, on the other hand the existence of out sourcing does not mean off shoring is happing as well. Definitions: Off shoring refers to the relocation by a company of a business process, either operational or supporting ones, from one country to a different one. However recently it is commonly used in relation to the practice of relocation to developing countries, with lower wages. It can consist of administrative or technical processes, such as accounting and manufacturing. On the other hand some business services, such as legal services, tend to be out sourced instead of off shore. Out sourcing
  • 4. Torture In Count Olaf s The Baudelaire Children In this novel, the Baudelaire children each face the possibility of either death, sexual assault, or torture. Count Olaf demonstrates paedophilic behaviours towards Violet by attempting to marry her in order to gain access to their fortune that their parents have left for them in their will. When Count Olaf confronts her with this unfavourable situation, he strokes Violet s hair (Snicket 94). Violet realizes that agreeing to marry this predatory man entails maintaining traditional gender roles. She imagines sleeping beside Count Olaf, and waking up each morning to look at [him]. She pictured wandering around the house [...] and cooking for his terrible friends at night (94). Not only does this passage entail possibilities of non consensual sex between Count Olaf and Violet, but also encompasses torture of Violet, since she is no longer able to follow her dreams of becoming an inventor. These themes of sexual assault, lack of consent, and being forced into gender roles can be very traumatic... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He is struck across the face by him and humiliated by Count Olaf s company when he is struck. This is demonstrated when the theatre troupe laughed and [...] applauded at Klaus s abuse (46). It is clear that Count Olaf s strike was rather hard as it is stated that it left a bruise on Klaus s cheek (49). Klaus receives rather gruesome death threats from other members of the theatre troupe. While attempting to do research into Count Olaf s plan, the member of the troupe with the hook hands tells Klaus that the only reason Count Olaf hasn t torn [him] limb from limb is that he hasn t gotten a hold of [his] money (78). Klaus has more reason to believe these threats of death due to the fact that Count Olaf has already demonstrated his lack of inhibition to act violently towards children. The depiction of violence towards children and the extremely gruesome and possibly credible death threats may be troubling for younger
  • 5. Analysis Of Book Of Judith By Artemisia Gentileschi I think it s natural for no matter viewers or historians trying to psychoanalyze artists artworks. When a person appreciates an artwork, he/she would analyze different aspects including stylistic characteristics and cultural context like what we are practicing now. I believe that Artemisia Gentileschi was somehow working out her feelings about her circumstances through her work. Although it is just a biblical scene from the Old Testament Book of Judith and a typical example of Baroque art due to the Catholic Counter Reformation, Artemisia Gentileschipainted this scene at least six times in a dramatic way. Looking at the painting, the expression on Judith s face is extremely vivid. She looks determined for pressing Holofernes head hard
  • 6. Born Into Brothels Rhetorical Analysis Rhetorical Analysis of Born into Brothels In Calcutta s red light district, several children are trying to get by in brothels. Their mothers are prostitutes and their fathers are gone, unreliable or unknown. Zana Briski journeys to Calcutta to photograph the lives of the prostitutes, and she ends up teaching their children about cameras and photography. Briski finds that the kids have true potential, not only in their photography but in their lives. She tries as hard as she can to find better futures for them. Born into Brothels tells this story. The film uses contrast, appeals to pathos and use of visuals to convey the tragedy of the children s every day, and also the hope for their future to those who have no idea about their situation.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Finally, Born into Brothels uses visuals show how these children have potential. Several times the film shows the actual photographs taken by the kids. This allows the audience to see Calcutta through their eyes. We are able to see things that are worth photographing from people who grew up on those streets. As an outsider, everything there would seem unusual, so it s almost surprising which scenes they capture. The simplicity of the way they see a place that must be so complicated for them. It is this place they want to leave, they have to leave but at the same time, it is their only home. Also, it s almost starling how good the pictures are. They are very true and raw, and each one tells its own story. The film shows these photographs to prove that these kids have real potential. They are smart and creative and caring. This film shows that anyone from anywhere can be somebody. The use of this strategy is effective because of our expectations that the children s photographs will be mediocre. It is sad that we automatically assume that they are not talented, and the film effectively disproves that theory. Born into Brothels uses contrast, pathos and photographs to illustrate a struggle to find children a better future and the fact that they have a lot of potential even though they come from such a violent beginning. The use of these rhetorical strategies is, for the most part,

The first individual to conceptualize the idea of strategic decision making by upper management and senior officials was Igor Ansoff in the 1960 s. Although Ansoff did not invent the idea of strategy, he did bring the idea of using strategic decision making for large corporations to succeed. In his book, Corporate Strategy, Ansoff identified 4 major decision types every organization must make. Decisions on strategy, policy, standard operating procedures, and programs were the 4 decisions Ansoff believed every organization needed to make (Strategic management, 2005). Ansoff was nicknamed the father of strategic management. Although Ansoff had a complex thought process on the concept of strategic management, his ideas all stemmed from similar thoughts. He summarized his thoughts on strategy by saying, The key to strategy is recognizing that if a company is functioning, it is part of the environment. When a manager understands the environment and is recognizing that the environment is constantly changing, then the manager can make the correct decisions in leading the organizations into the future (Ansoff, Igor, 2003). Henry Mintzberg is also an important figure in the history and writings of strategic planning

I used to hate writing because it was not one of the things that I am strong at but now I don t mind it. Thanks to the writing lab I feel more comfortable when turning in papers because they go over the paperwith you sentence by sentence. A few things that I know I need to work on and I really struggle with is fragments and comma splices. I honestly do not fully understand what they mean. For the next paper I feel as if I should do some research on how to fix those errors on my own, rather than relying on the person who edits my paper. I feel as if it would be in my best interest to find a website that explains the things I really struggle

They did not speak. This was disappointing, for Miss Brill always looked forward to the conversation . This is really frustrating for her. • 10. Modeling Of Fractal Antenna Using Artificial Neural Network 1. Title: Modeling of fractal antenna using Artificial Neural Network. 2.Introduction: In high performance spacecraft, aircraft, missile and satellite applications, where size, weight, cost, performance, ease of installation, and aerodynamic profile are constraints, low profile antennas may be required. Presently, there are many other government and commercial applications, such as mobile radio and wireless communications that have similar specifications. To meet these requirements, micro strip antennas can be used [1,2]. The expensive growth of wireless system and booming demand for variety of new wireless application,it is important to design an antenna whose size, shape, weight and cost will be less. If it is possible that a single antenna can work on more than one frequency then it is good for us. So generally fractal antenna is used as multiband antenna. The fractal geometry concept can be used to reduce antenna size. So fractal shaped antennas are good choice to reduce antenna size and get multiband behavior. The fractal antenna can be classified on the basis of iteration as 0 iteration,1st iteration,2nd iteration etc. For fulfilling all the requirement introduced above fractal microstrip patch antennas are designed. As the number of iteration increases the time consume for solving matrix generated in simulator based on method of moment(IE3D) increases. Due to this reason we are designing an artificial neural network for microstrip fractal antenna. 2.1 Fractal

Imagine the circumstance that the aircraft is flying in the sky, the wing is cutting through the air. The boundary layer around the wing could be observed, which is a thin and a highly sheared region. It is the layer that looks random and chaotic but also has structure on it. The Boundary layer is a complex structure, which is classified from Laminar, Transition, to Turbulent around the body depending on different aspects like: Reynolds number, surface roughness, skin friction drag, pressure gradient and etc. The near wall turbulent coherent structure is thus the study of the turbulent coherent structure that is close to the surface of the body. Any structure of the turbulent is the reflected of Kinetic energy through the process of production, diffusion, transformation and etc. It corresponds to the majority of energy production within the structure. The actives that involve the structure are happened near the wall, which turns out the importance of near wall investigation, and worth to put the emphasis on. The 3 dimensional coherent structures are the small region that exists within the turbulent boundary layer. It has the correction which has its own aspects either in space or time. • 18. Makeup Of Makeup Samuel Pepys did make note of the heavy makeup used by Nell Gwynne and her co worker Mrs. Knepp on stage, and how frightful he found it, so it is likely that even if makeup, in general, had an artificial look, stage makeup went a few steps further. Red cheeks connoted youthfulness and health, yellow cheeks age and illness. The eyes were outlined with black and shaded with colored pigment, blue being quite popular. Hair powder was used on the stage as well, and the color of it could be used either to compliment the actor or actress s look, or be chosen to suit the character they played. False facial hair was another means to change an actor s look. Makeup in the 17th and 18th century was quite simple, but with a very artificial look. The ideal, for both men and women, was a pale face, enhanced with cosmetics aimed to lighten the complexion or with white makeup. As with the lips, there is no real evidence that brows were blotted out and repainted higher up on the brow, though that may have happened in the theatre for effect. Patches were very popular throughout both the 17th and 18th century, most commonly round and black made out of taffeta, velvet or paper, but larger and more elaborate shapes were also in use (Samuel Pepysdiary). Theatre goers also enjoyed seeing women in breeches roles in which a female character disguised herself as a man by wearing tight pants that exposed their legs. Breeches roles are found in plays from the 1660s, such as Nell Gwyn as Florimel

The members of this movement were known as non conformists and were spontaneously creative in their writings. Thomas Merrill states that the influence of drugs in the movement was: The incessant search for reality within (through drugs, meditation and intense feeling) was a quest for authenticity that reason, it was felt, deadened. At the beginning of my IGCSE Global Perspectives course, we looked at natural resources which I think also contributed to my decision to look into this topic. I would like to be more aware of how much resources currently remain on Earthbecause the media constantly reports on how little resources we have left. From news articles I have seen so far about asteroid mining, it is seen as a beneficial way for Earth to get resources that we currently have a shortage of. For this project, I will be looking at the current situation of resources, what minerals can be obtained from asteroids, how easy it would be to obtain these resources and how effective asteroid mining would be to solving the current shortage of resources. Abstract Asteroid Mining is a proposed solution to the current decline of resources on Earth. As I currently understand this is done by sending a spacecraft capable of mining asteroids, small planets and other near earth objects such as comets. Once extracting the minerals from these asteroids, they then get sent back to Earth and get used in industrial and consumer goods. I would not consider this

One man killed another for money, and everyone is wearing extremely dirty outfits as well as rolling around in the mud. In addition to exaggeration, parody of a trash truck is utilized in this scene. Improving Feeding Outcomes in the NICU: Establishing an Infant Driven Feeding Pathway Laura Pabich BSN, RN The University of Iowa College of Nursing Improving Feeding Outcomes in the NICU: Establishing an Infant Driven Feeding Pathway The most common reason preterm infants face prolonged hospitalization in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is a delay in acquiring full oral feedings (Shaker, 2013). The purpose of this project is to improve feeding outcomes for preterm infants at Blank Children s Hospital s (BCH) NICU in Des Moines, Iowa. Traditionally, feeding practices in the NICU have followed a physician led, volume driven model based on an infant s weight and gestational age. This model defines a preterm infant s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Feeding difficulties often persist past NICU discharge with an incidence ranging from 19 to 80 percent (Shaker, 2013; Sundseth, 2013). The average daily cost for NICU care often exceeds $3,500 per infant and a delay in establishing full oral feedings further increases the cost of care (Murakas, 2008). Delayed discharge also places infants at risk for hospital related morbidity, leads to prolonged maternal child separation and increases parental stress (Gennattasio, Perri, Baranek, Rohan, 2015). Preterm infants face a number of challenges in attaining full oral feedings including physiologic instability, neurologic immaturity and behavioral state disorganization (Gennattasio, Perri, Baranek, Rohan, 2015). The time in which preterm infants are learning to feed is characterized by rapid motor and neurodevelopment in which every feeding experience plays a role (Shaker, 2013). Physiologic stress during feeding may encourage sensory motor pathways in the brain, leading to maladaptive feeding behaviors, learned feeding refusals and long term feeding aversions (Shaker, 2013). Traditional, volume driven feeding practices fail to account for an infant s hunger cues, the physiologic stress caused by the challenge of oral feeding and the quality of an individual feeding (Newland, Weems L Huillier, Petrey, 2013). According to Sundseth Ross and Browne (2013), feeding practices must move from
  • 32. Michael Henchard Foil According to the Online Dictionary for Literary Devices, The etymology of the term foil testifies the aforementioned assertion as the word foil is taken from the practice of backing gems with foil (tool) so that they shine more brightly. Throughout The Mayor of Casterbridge, Thomas Hardy sets up multiple pairs of characters as foils to contrast them and express his opinion of what attributes a person should have. Michael Henchard, who cares more for personal gain, is a foil to Richard Newson, who cares for his wife and daughter. However, Henchard s plan fails because, A number of people had heroically gathered in the field, but by three o clock Henchard discerned that his project was doomed to end in failure... But where are the folk? said Henchard, after the lapse of half an hour, during which time only two men and a woman had stood up to dance. The shops are all shut. Why don t they come? They are at Farfrae s affair in the West Walk (103 104). This event is the first major conflict that occurs between Henchard and Farfrae, and this starts to develop the characters as foils. While Henchard hosts an event in the rain, Farfrae hosts an event indoors that is popular; this shows Hardy s belief that intelligence is a positive trait to have. Hardy shows that Farfrae uses logic and gains favor in the town while Henchard does not and starts to become unpopular. Also defining Henchard and Farfrae as foils, Farfrae shows self control and understands how to control his anger. After Henchard embarrasses himself in front of Royalty, Farfrae meets him and chastises him by saying, You insulted Royalty, Henchard; and twas my duty, as the chief magistrate, to stop you. Royalty be damned, said Henchard. I am as loyal to you, come to that! I am not here to argue.

Gun Control Laws Should be Tightened Essay According to James Madison in his Federalist Papers, Americans have the right and advantage of being armed unlike the citizens of other countries whose governments are afraid to trust the people with arms, (Raymond). Madison may be correct about Americans having more rights than many other countries, but sometimes the government has too much trust in the American people. Taking away all privately owned guns does not solve anything because doing so would consequentially create a communist state. Of course, as more people started owning guns, the crime rate and deaths by gun shot up. Basically, it used to be every man for himself. As the government started worrying farther than just setting the rules but actually having people abide by the rules, laws and restrictions were set to try to regulate who owned guns and why they would use them. In 1934, Congress first started regulating the sale of automatic firearms. Not until four years later did the government think to make it federal law to require gun sellers to be licensed and to prohibit felons from purchasing them (Newsbatch 1). Even with rules that shops were supposed to follow, there are loopholes. However, despite the long and recurrent history of war, the way different societal groups perceive and act towards conflict differs widely. The Battle of Iowa Jima took place close to the end of World War II between the United States and Japan. The American marines invaded the island of Iowa Jima on February 19 1945, in order to gain access to the island s airfields and create a base for attacking mainland Japan. The battle proved to be a significant defeat for the Japanese with only 3216 survivors out of the initial 21000 soldiers. However, despite being heavily outnumbered and suffering from a lack of food/supplies, the Japanese soldiers persisted their stand for 35 days. Letters from Iowa Jima and Flags of Our Fathers (2006) are companion films that depict the Battle of Iowa Jima from the perspective of the Japanese and Americans, respectively. The films effectively portray the widely different social and political attitudes that were present in both countries. It was apparent that the Japan s nationalism stemmed from fear, honor and oppression. Whereas in the United States, patriotism was constructed through the government s romanticized depiction of warand the country s superiority. Japan s nation state enforced the patriotic ideology that soldiers should be honored to fight and die in battle, while holding the social Darwinist belief that Japanese soldiers were more motivated

With the amount of award winning novel to film adaptations, it seems wasteful not to take advantage of available material. Instruct students to note the differences between the book and film while viewing. After each viewing discuss as a class the differences and why you think the director and screenwriter chose to make those decisions. In an article on using film adaptations, Dennis Cutchins found both he and his students gained further knowledge about The Great Gatsby after comparing the differences between novel Daisy Buchanan and film Daisy Buchanan (***). The students found film Daisy an unlikeable and spoiled character. After Cutchins got over his initial shock, he investigated why he felt sympathetic toward Daisy. He discovered that through Nick s narration, the reader sees Daisy the way Nick does, with love and admiration. Her quirks and behaviors are more understandable and adorable since Nick thinks so. When watching the film viewers do not get this point of view, they are left to their own opinions. This revelation leads Cutchins to a classroom experiment. He chose two students who fluently spoke the same foreign language, he had one student leave the classroom and the other translate a poem from English to the foreign language. He then had the other student come in and translate the poem back to English based on the prior student s translation. What Cutchins and his class discovered were the difference between the original English poem and the double translated poem. This discovery is a major positive for using adaptations, you learn most from what you do not see than what you do

The growth, influence, and power of the world surrounds itself around capitalism and the Industrial Revolution. Capitalism is best described as the economic and political system where different countries trade. It is the economic market of the world in which it provides the needs and demands for supplies; opposed to the industrial revolution where that refers to the transformation of technology. As discussed in class, the late 1400s were where many economic conducts were controlled by families, religion, tradition and political authority rather than by markets. The manufacturing of goods was done using hand tools and machines in the comfort of households and in small farms. Particularly on farms, workers were required to perform hard labor, making the life of the average person emphatically difficult as results were diseases and malnourishment. In essence, the Industrial Revolution played a major role with the economic market. As the economy improved, longer work days for workers were given since the demand for supplies became increased. On the other hand, capitalism was becoming very popular and people were

Essay on An Analysis of Culture in Things Fall Apart The novel Things Fall Apart written by Chinua Achebe, is a tale based on the traditional beliefs and customs of an Ibo village during late 1800 s Africa. Synthesis Tert-Butyl Chloride Sn2 Report In order to synthesis tert butyl chloride, HCl is used in a substitution reaction to displace an OH molecule that is connected to the tert butyl molecule. Substitution reactions for alkyl halides can go one of two ways; an Sn1 reaction or an Sn2 reaction. An Sn1 reaction is unimolecular (only depends on the substrate), and requires a very weak nucleophile, a polar protic solvent and favors tertiary alkyl halides as the electrophiles. An Sn2 reaction is the opposite and is bimolecular (depends on the substrate and nucleophile), requires a very strong nucleophile, a polar aprotic solvents and favors primary alkyl halides as the electrophile. There are a number of factors that can affect the efficiency of these reactions. An Sn2 reaction is affected

We need a strength from within, To rise above all. The next step we take shouldn t be the last one. We, as Americans are free, but, of course, we should not be robbed of that freedom. It s gotten progressively worse, and now, than the presidential election is right around the corner, America, I feel, is about to fall. Nevertheless, America is a great country within itself. But what I m trying to say is, we should patch it the butchered trail we left behind. On the contrary, I think America is still chugging just fine, for now. I feel if we try to change, we will collapse. This seems

They are law enforcement bodies that focus on prevention of crime. They patrol the areas, respond to calls, investigate crime scenes and make arrests. Existing police information system is not quick enough to meet the urgency characteristic required by the public security industry. All the tasks require technology that enables them to access information easily, as and when required so as to increase the efficiency of the police department. This paper focuses on the use of face recognition technology that enables these police officials to gather details about criminals, suspects or normal citizens. The system supports the functionality including searching and collecting information, file upload, and uses client side programming and server side programming. The Schwarzenegger Campaign Committee Depicts Angelides Family Schwarzenegger In the ad Family, the Schwarzenegger campaign committee depicts Angelides as a someone intending to hurt families and businesses with his new taxes. The ad shows the viewers that with Angelides, California would be moving backwards instead of forwards like with Schwarzenegger. It claims he intends to create new taxes that will ultimately destroy families and small businesses by making it harder to afford the big items in life we all tend to strive for. With the use of pathos, ethos and logos, this ad creates emotional appeal with family matters and shows the character and credibility of Angelides vs Schwarzenegger. In the beginning the ad is in black and white with Angelides walking backwards. This is no doubt a metaphor for California taking a step backwards with Angelides as governer. The ad uses images of families and children to tap into our emotional view. Attempting to show people with families that with Angelides as governer, they will undoubtably be unable to support their families. Jib Fowles explains how images tap into our emotional appeal in his essay Advertising 15 basic appeals. He states Some few ads have their emotional appeal in the text but for the greater number by far the appeal is contained in the artwork. This makes sense, since visual communication better suits more primal levels of the brain. The ad uses these images to appeal to the viewers parental side, making the audience feel they need to
