Reflection On Multicultural Reflection
CED 603: Multicultural Reflection Assignment Leah Lazo Becker

I am currently working on an internship credential as a high school counselor at Carlsbad High School
which is a large public comprehensive high school in Carlsbad, California. In the 2015 2016 academic
school year Carlsbad High School had a total enrollment of 2,459 students in the 9th 12th grade. 21%
of students are socioeconomically disadvantaged, 3% are English Language Learners and 10.2 % are
students with disabilities (School Accountability Report Card, 2016 17).

ELL students are grouped together in these classes so they can receive differential instruction and have
peer support. Students with 504 plans are supported by the school counselors and teachers to ensure
they are receiving accommodations necessary depending on their disability. Students with
Individualized Education Plans (IEP) are supported by the school counselors, teachers, and special
education case managers. Students receive support as determined by their IEP s, with some receiving
ongoing counseling with a school psychologist, placement in directed studies classes or in sheltered
and co teach classes to receive direct resource support. These support systems in place at Carlsbad
High School are a multi tiered approach to best meet student s individual needs.
During my internship experience I recognized that I when I start working with a student I see them
first as a student then explore and evaluate the cultural factors that are impacting them. Rather than
my current practice of doing this sequentially I believe I should be doing this concurrently. Culture,
whether it is ethnicity, class, or students with disabilities, goes hand in hand with supporting a student
towards success in their academic, personal/social, and career domains. It is important that as a school
counselor I am developing a strong rapport with my students

Crime And Punishment By Raskolnikov
Crime and Punishment timed write The most memorable scene of Crime and Punishment is
Raskolnikov s first experience at the police station while being questioned about the debt he owes to
his landlady. Throughout the scene, Raskolnikov is being torn apart by his desire to confess to the
murder of the pawnbroker and relieve himself of the immense burden of his guilt while still seeking to
preserve his innocence in the eyes of the law. The scene is marked by several memorable moments
such as when raskolnikov cannot contain his guilt and stands up as if he will confess to the murder but
then holds his tongue and remains silent. This scene in particular sets a precedent for the rest of the
book and gives us insight on the frenzied mind and rationale of Raskolnikov. Raskolnikov cannot exist
and appease both his desire to come clean and free himself of guilt and bring himself to the
punishment that freedom would entail, which puts Raskolnikov in a variety of situations where he is
forced to choose which aspect of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The book is then able to rely on the explanation of raskolnikov s mental balance between these
opposing ideas and it affects how he is able to interact with the people around him and how he
perceives the things that they say. The scene itself is long and packed full of raskolnikov s impressions
and ideas that all serve to add to the hectic nature of his guilt and how it burdens him. It is entirely
effective at showing the reader how he is forcing himself into more and more difficult situations by
not fully choosing which aspect (either guilt or self preservation) he will serve. The scene
encapsulated the very essence of raskolnikov s character and gave the reader what almost appeared to
be a physical manifestation of his thoughts. This changes the way that the reader can interpret every
action that raskolnikov makes, even if it s not

Persuasive Essay On Prayer In School
Prayer in School has been one of the most controversial issues of all the time. Under US constitution
also prayer in schools is constitutional as well as unconstitutional. Congress shall make no law
respecting as establishment of religious or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the
freedom of speech or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble and to petition the
government for a redress of grievance , first amendment of US constitution. This amendment
guarantees people for their freedom of religious and speech of their choice. It means an individual has
a right to follow their religious without violating other belief. As an atheist, I believed that Prayer is a
mind exercise to keep balance between subconscious and conscious mind. And, a prayer in School
will give a guideline t People have their right to follow the religious of their own choice. They can
practice any norms or values under their religious without violating other belief. In 60s, prayer in
school was common in America. But, sometimes catholic group objected because it violates their
belief. Since, everyone has only one faith but there is different ways to express their faith on their own
God. In school, student with different religious has their own way and own God to pray. Prayer that
we pray in school may come from one religious which may violate others belief. On June 25, 1962,
US Supreme court ruled against prayer in public school. (Engel v. Vitale case)

Metropolis, by Fritz Lang and Frankenstein, by Mary...
The idea of progress being inspired by the past is revisited in Fritz Lang s 1927 film Metropolis.
Though the film s titular city is a gleaming landscape of technological advancement it is through the
hands of the arcane inventor Rotwang that the film s most stunning creation comes into being. Like
Frankenstein revisiting outdated natural philosphers for his inspiration, Joh Frederson, the figurehead
of Metropolis and the man to whom technology means the most, turns to the aged inventor in hopes of
pushing technology even further. The visit to Rotwang is like a visit to the past: his house is the only
edifice we see that is in no way modern (in fact it has such a clapboard appearance when held against
the rest of Metropolis that ir ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When held up to the monster in Shelley s novel, Rotwang s creation serves as an indication of how far
the technology in Metropolis has come. Though the basic premise of the two scenarios is the same,
namely the cobbling together of a being and its homuncular bringing to life, Rotwang s creation is a
much colder affair. Whereas Frankenstein built his monster from human remains, dabbling among the
unhallowed damps of the grave and collecting bones from charnel houses (Shelley, p. 62), Rotwang s
creation is made entirely of cold metal, it is a being of bronze and bolts. There is no room in Lang s
vision of technology gone awry for even the barest hint of human involvement. Everything is cold,
mechanical, and calculated. Even the workers, the lowest citizens on the societal totem and the only
human contact the machinery necessitates is at risk of being forced from their jobs by Rotwang s
metallic creation. If technology and progress are expressed by a metaphysical quandary in Shelley s
novel then in Lang s film it is entirely mechanical. Humanity comes second to the technology that
allows

How Do Companies Best Create Lasting Connections with...
How Do Companies Best Create Lasting Connections with their Customers?
Initial answers could include the following: through highly creative advertising messages; through
innovative, value based pricing structures; through a constant array of compelling product upgrades;
or through spending more money than your competitors do on multiple distribution channels.
Wrong.
I am convinced that true, meaningful connectivity with customers and key stakeholders occurs in one
way: through authenticity at every level of the customer experience. And without this, a company or a
brand is incapable of achieving ultimate success.
So what is it exactly that creates devoted brand fans?
It s allowing yourself to follow your instincts and not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This allows them to think and act on that critical emotional level, and it challenges them to get to the
core of who they really are.
That core is what today s customers are really after, as they make decisions regarding who to hire or
buy from.
In recent years, consumer oriented marketing has dramatically changed. Years ago, companies used a
mix of print, radio and television to establish their brand.
Today, this model is proving difficult for most companies, due to the high cost, the dilution of media,
and the overabundance of commercial messages.
These days, many successful brands are created without an advertising budget, or with a relatively
modest one. They create a solid and believable identity, differentiate themselves from their
competitors and build a loyal customer base by putting an authentic face on their companies through
standing behind their promises on every level from the point of sale to customer service after the sale.
Customers respond positively to the notion that a real, answerable person is responsible for quality,
which is the reason that many successful companies put their CEO s front and center and avoid the
celebrity spokesperson trap.
Customers want to know who is really behind the brand and where the buck actually stops.
The combination of quality, caring, accountability and the human touch is what constitutes an
authentic brand.
Know what you stand for and proudly demonstrate that every day in every way to

Essay On Still Alice Howland
In Still Alice, a college professor Dr. Alice Howland is diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer s. We
see Alice struggle with slowly losing her memories and not being able to work anymore, something
Alice feels that defines her identity. Alice continues to try and remain herself by setting reminders and
taking a daily quiz. However, her mental faculties continue to decline drastically and her family
begins to treat her as something less than a person, and instead is viewed as a kind of burden on her
husband and children. By the end of the movie Alice is no longer the same, and fails to kill herself as
the former Alice instructed during a video instructing Alice kill herself when she could no longer

Thus with this bodily criterion there is no ethical dilemma of murder, since Alice never ceases to be
Alice. Thus, if taking this view to be valid then there is no ethical dilemma present with Alice
instructing herself to how to kill herself. I will now state my own thoughts on personal identity and
whether the psychological criterion with direct memory connection determines personal identity or the
bodily criterion. Then I will give reasons for the validity of my perspective, and how it is incorporated
with the films view. Although Still Alice supports the psychological criterion with direct memory
connection, this criterion does not actually determine personal identity. Instead, the bodily criterion
with normal cause of the brain is the factor of personal identity. This variation of the bodily criterion
includes the most important organ in the human body, the brain. The brain controls the entire body,
and how information is processed from stimuli in the environment. I also defend the idea that only
half the brain is needed for brain continuity and normal

Differences Between Generation And Generation
Anyone who is familiar with our generation knows that our generation is extremely different from our
parents generation. Thus, creates a gap between the two generations, and has been acknowledged by
many sociologists. Aside from today s young people inability to accomplish the millstones of
becoming an adult, there is lot more differences between this generation and the older generation.
Therefore, in this essay, I will be comparing and contrasting both generations. From how their career
expectations are different, what was their definition of happiness, and how their parents played a role
on making their dream or expectation turn into reality? To begin with, let me tell you a little bit about
my generation. We are the generations that zd6was born between the late 1970s and the mid 1990s.
The Gen Y has we are call, was raise by the baby boomers our parents generation. Growing up, as Tim

optimism and unbounded possibility (par 6). Moreover, what our parents didn t tell us, is that we have
to devote most of our entire life to achieve those possibility. However, our parents generation the baby
boomers, born in the 50s, raised by our grandparents. Were raised to build practical, secured careers
(Urban par 4) But another for them to get to stable career they have to go through hard time, bad
decisions and loss of love ones. And that brought us to career

When the earth began there was no life, it was a world of fire and oceans of lava, after thousands of
year s life began in the ocean and soon came onto land. The land creatures developed into dinosaurs
which ruled the world for thousands of years until a meteor wiped them out and a great ice age came.
Once the ice age ended monkeys came and from them humans. We have been around for two thousand
years and now we have created artificial intelligence which is becoming more and more integrated
into our ever increasingly complicated world to make it simpler but have humans also created the next
cycle of evolution? The AI Revolution is on by Steven Levy is about Artificial intelligence (AI). Levy
writes about how the AI came around and how it affects our daily life. Levy explains impeccably how
its developers strayed away from imitating human intelligence, and how it is integrated into our
society. Levy has been reporting on digital technology for over twenty five years and his articles have
been published in many distinguished magazines according to Writing and Reading Across the
Curriculum. Levy s article begins by talking about how robots are used in ware houses that are linked
to a main computer that tells the robots what they need to get. The ware house is organized in small
groups of products spread out threw out it, this way the robots don t have to travel as far to get the
product but to a human it looks like a random pile or stuff that isn t sorted at all. Levy goes on

Causes And Effects Of Tsunamis
Run for your life! screams a little Indonesian boy. An eighty foot tall water wave of pure terror barrels
towards him and millions of other people. On December 26, 2004, an enormous tsunami wrecked
Indonesia, killed nearly 200,000, and left over half a million more homeless. This is not the only time
something like this happens. Tsunamis happen all over the world, and they are common. They vary in
size and destruction but are all very similar. Tsunamis are unique natural disasters due to the way they
travel and form, as well as their effects of destruction.
The travel of tsunamis is always alike. They travel fast across the ocean and end up on the shore of
some country. Cited from National Geographic Tsunamis race across the sea at over 500 miles an
hour, about as fast as a jet plane. At that pace, they can cross the entire expanse of the Pacific Ocean in
less than a day. ( Tsunamis ). This goes to show just unbelievably fast tsunamis can rip across the
ocean. When tsunamis cross the ocean, they are not fully formed gigantic waves rolling across an
ocean. Instead, they are about five feet tall at the maximum, Gravity acts quickly against the waves it
appears flat on the surface. BrainPOP explained that although the water appears flat, waves are
constantly moving fast, and can extend thousands of feet deep. The deeper the ocean is, the faster the
tsunami travels. When the depth gets shallower as it reaches the shore, it increases in size and
becomes the big wave that many know as a tsunami. Scientists detect and measure tsunamis before
they reach their destination. Stated in an article by Steven Ward, By analyzing seismic waves,
scientists can determine when and where an undersea earthquake has occurred and calculate its
strength. Therefore, they can discover tsunamis and warn the area that will be hit. Warnings are
needed because tsunamis can happen at any coast in the world. Tsunamis form through various
different things. They can be started from volcanoes, asteroids, landslides, and many other things, but
the most common is an undersea earthquake. BrainPOP proclaimed that as two tectonic plates press
together, the heavier plate slides under the lighter one and causes a disruption above. When

Analytical Analysis Of Frost At Midnight By Samuel Coleridge
Analytical essay of Frost at Midnight by Samuel Coleridge
People think that nature brings a sort of calmness, happiness or peace, which is why most people
travel to places with beautiful sceneries, or build houses near beaches, or have a plant in their
surrounding or even just a painting of a tree, flower or mountain. The importance of nature is
subjective as it nature touches people in different ways. The poem Frost at Midnight, Samuel
Coleridge, is a monolingual conversation between the speaker and his sleeping infant. It is written in
blank verse, with little or no rhyme but in iambic pentameter. In this poem, the speaker emphasises the
importance of nature by equating it to God, he also speaks about the ability of nature to create
treasured memories, which he wants to use to plant himself in his child s future, therefore, he his
rallying against modernization because of this.
The speaker stresses the importance of nature by comparing it to God, he says that his child will be far
from God because he will not be able to hear God s voice which apparently is, The lovely shapes and
sounds intelligible / Of that eternal language... (65 66). I believe that this comparison is quite different
as most religions such as Christianity do not equate God with earth but instead suggests that God
created earth (New International Version, Gen. 1.1). This sentence makes me think that God can mean
different things to different people. The thing or person we worship the most or respect the most can
be a god, money can be a god, a popular music artist can be a god, and a tyrannical president can also
be a god. The speaker s definition of a God involved the ability to: from eternity doth teach Himself in
all... Great universal Teacher! (67 69).The speaker s definition of God entails the ability to be able to
teach one s self and be able to mold spirits. Thereby nature is important in this way because it can
mold people s spirits and lives.
Another way in which the speaker stresses the importance of nature is by stating benefits from nature.
He is sitting at home and staring out through the window, looking at the fluttering object and listening
to the owl while the rest of the residents in the house are asleep. He is in his

United States of America Land of Opportunity? United States of America is known as the land of

history, United States has focused more about equal opportunity than any other country. There are
many people who strongly believe that once they come to the United States it is almost guaranteed to

Analysis Of Rona Inc. Largest Canadian Distributor And...
RONA Inc is the largest Canadian distributor and retailer of hardware, home renovation and gardening
products. They employ 30,000 people at more than 800 corporate, franchise and affiliate locations
across Canada. Within the last year RONA has undergone significant changes, hiring a new CEO and
choosing to close down several locations, so it is a very interesting period moving forward for the
company. This report will outline RONA s current financial position, current issues that may affect
their position, and give a prediction as to the future performance of the company. It will also analyze
several of RONA s key financial ratios, and compare them to those of Home Depot, a major
competitor in the industry.
As of December 30, 2012, RONA reported $1,311,342,000 in current assets, a majority of which
being inventory and trade and other receivables. RONA carries a lot of inventory due to their
relatively low profit margin and high inventory turnover, who s numbers we explain further later in
this paper. RONA has $813,901,000 in fixed assets, which make up about 29% of their reported
$2,806,458,000 in total assets. This means that RONA does use a fair amount of operating leverage in
their business.
There are a few conclusions we can come to when looking at RONA s current debt and equity. Their
total debt of $922,882,000 and total equity of $1,883,576,000 give them a 0.49 debt to equity ratio.
Also, when comparing total debt to total assets, we come to a figure of 0.33. As is

How Does Ancient Egyptian Culture Affect Modern Day Society s?
Ancient Egypt was the first civilization to make use of the sciences, including math and medical uses.
Clocks, sports, a twelve month calendar, farming, building are also believed to originate in Ancient
Egypt. All of these influences our everyday lives.
The Egyptians created a decimal system that used seven different symbols. Mathematical text can be
traced back to around 2000 1800 BC. By then the Egyptians had a grasp of multiplication, division,
prime numbers, geometry and fractions.
Ancient Egypt was the first civilization to invent a way to measure time. Not only did they invent the
calendar, they were also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Obelisks can also be found as tombstones in U.S. cemeteries. The modern day alphabet is believed to
have been influenced by a complex system of hieroglyphs, which used 24 symbols for consonants,
along with many other symbols. The Egyptians invented the 354 day lunar calendar made up of 12
months that correlated with the lunar cycle. It was split into three seasons that reflected the natural
cycle of the River Nile, flood, spring and low water. The year started with the reappearance of the star
Sirius, which signaled the rising of the Nile River. A 365 day calendar was later invented, consisting
of 12 lunar months of 30 days, and then split into three seasons, and five extra days at the end of the
year. It was not until 30 BC that the Romans added an extra day to every fourth month to give us the
calendar we use today.
The Ancient Egyptians brought to us many inventions, such as Scissors, combs, toothbrushes and
toothpaste. They are also credited with creating the lock and key, the weaving loom, drums, and the
first oil lamps.
Wooden door locks were used to protect the property. A hollowed out bolt was connected to pins that
could be moved by inserting a key. Egyptian locks were more secure than spring locks later used by
the Romans. Like many of the ancient civilizations, ancient Egypt wasn t the most sophisticated when
it came to medicine, but they were ahead of the rest of the world in

Build Up of Suspense in the Film Jaws Essay
Build Up of Suspense in the Film Jaws
The film is called JAWS and is successfully directed by Steven Spielberg. I will be analyzing how
Spielberg builds up suspense and scares the audience throughout this film, considering how camera
shots, music and characters reactions help to build this effect. The film is purposely named JAWS as it
is about a supernatural predator that killed many people with his deadly jaws without prejudice and
discrimination. JAWS is a masterful, visceral and realistic science fiction suspense, horror disaster
film tapping into the most primal of human fear. The film is set in 1975 on a fictional island called

At the same moment, as the first note is played, we see the first images of the film like the shark
looming out of the darkness and catching its prey unaware. Spielberg again gives the idea of the
unseen enemy, hunting, scraping perfection in his domain. As the camera smoothly shows the point of
view of the shark moving throughout the weeds, the music gradually builds up and gets louder as well
as faster, giving the impression that this shark is gaining confidence pushing its way through the
weeds with force and determination. The music gradually increases and a brass instrument plays over
the deep cello. At the end of this sequence a screech is heard tearing our ears, which reminds us the
fate of helpless people caught in the jaws of misfortune. Instinctively we are made to remember this
music. Spielberg intelligently makes us see the point of view of the predator. By not seeing the shark,
suspense is created leaving our imagination to wonder. The music provides a sense of hostile presence
as if an unseen, persistent predator is around the corner and both the music and hunter cause panic and
chaos without being seen.
Music and silence is again used effectively to build up tension

2.3 John Boyd s Discourse
To succeed and grow in a diverse uncertain and constant changing world that surrounds us, we need to
make decisive decisions ourselves those many practices we have to meet the exigencies of that world.
The discourse thus consists of 5 sections:
1. Pattern of Conflict consists of thoughts and actions for winning and losing in a very competitive
environment.
2. The Strategic Game of ? also, ? stresses the different mental turns and twist that we deal with to

develop mental concepts to understand and cope to our surroundings;
5. Revelation makes noticeable the metaphorical message that streams from this Discourse

King Lear Evil Vs Evil
Second, there is nothing wrong with being a villain if society mistreats the evil character. Although
society should be against evilness, a villain may justifiably perform evil acts if he is not treated fairly
by society. King Lear, a play that involves the theme of man versus nature, is a perfect example of
this. Edmund, one of the main evil characters in the play, must overcome the social ridicule that comes
with being a bastard. In the beginning of the play, Edmund should not be blamed for how evil he acts
since society refuses to respect his dignity. It seems that since Edmund has no one with whom he can
reveal his evil deeds, he likes to express his feelings and plans out to the audience. As Cindy Erdin
explains:

In fact, some acts seem impossible to reenact in real life because it makes the audience think about if
some villains are really life like to them. In any case, exploring the villains purpose and development
throughout stories are important as they assist the audience in understanding why evil characters
deserve to be where they end up. For this reason, villains can still have the right motives to perform
evil acts as long as they are not too observed in themselves. In specific, the villains can only act evil
towards the characters that have done something unjustifiably against them. However, in most cases,
if villains are taking their evil out on characters that never wronged them, then they prove why evil
characters never triumph in the end. In Othello and King Lear, Iago and Edmund were fascinating
characters to dissect because they are both evil in their own way. With Iago, the audience can see that
he is the greatest manipulator of mankind and he enjoys interacting with them. Moreover, Iago is able
to entertain the audience with his practical jokes but in the end, he gets carried away with his hatred
on innocent women and causes a bloodbath. On the other hand, Edmund had a much serious conflict
to deal with as he is fighting for his social rights when it comes to being a bastard. Although he

Kaya Case Study
Looking at the data collected on Kaya, as a scholar practitioner, I would want to do an assessment to
find out what are Kaya strong points. Just looking at the data it appears that Kaya may have some
difficulty socializing with other children and the cause could be several things. I am supporting this
with the fact that the high frequency behaviors are those classified as off task, the fact that Kaya has
difficulty making eye contact for more than 3 consecutive seconds. Unfortunately, the interval data
does not give me the cause or antecedent of what could be causing this type of behavior. This child
could be bullied, she could have low self esteem, she could be shy, she could be homeless, and or she

ABSTRACT
Forensic accounting is the application of financial skills and an investigative mentality to unresolved
issues, conducted within the context of the rules of evidence. Organizations hire forensic accountants
for guidance when evaluating potential business transactions to look for suspicious signs of
accounting activity, provide expertise during litigations, look for signs of suspicious activity and fraud

If a dispute is brought to the courts notice, the forensic accountant can testify as a witness. The world
of forensic accounting involves grasping the seriousness of a situation and looking beyond numbers. It
is more than just your regular accounting or basic detective work. Because it has such unique
elements, it is an unusual combination that has been and will always be in demand. The forensic
market has seen a great deal of activity in recent years and is set to continue in the future. The growth
of regulatory compliance requirements and the increase in fraud has seen a related growth in demand
for forensic accountants and forensic technologists both within and outside the profession. Research
confirms that preventing fraud and revealing deceptive accounting practices are in strong demand.

The Impact Of Fashion On The Fashion Industry
In the 21st century, the fashion industry remains prominent as it continues to rise in an era of global
trade. Developing in the late 19th and early 20th century, the fashion industry was on the rise with
newer technologies that stimulated new manufacturing practices and further improved the growth of a
soon to be multibillion dollar global enterprise (Major). Fashion is a an art that conveys human
expression through clothing, in which many individuals are willing to spend money on and experience
whether upscale or simple. Therefore, parts of the fashion industry affect and influence the quantity
and quality of clothing as shown by the many manufacturing processes of both the ready to wear and
haute couture industries, the many types of commercial advertisements and media produced by the
marketing branch, and by the profit margins of different companies within the fashion industry.
It is evident that the quantity and quality of clothing is affected and influenced by the fashion industry
as shown by the many manufacturing processes of the haute couture branch of the fashion industry.
Originating in Europe, haute couture is defined as high sewing, in which clothing is made with
expensive fabrics and is hand tailored by professional artisans skilled in dressmaking, embroidery and
many more (Major). In the mid 19th and the early 20th century, the haute couture branch of fashion
was at its peak with the invention of fashion houses, companies that specialize in high fashion

African American History For The Past Century
The African American History from the Late 19th Century through the Present course was very
informative and educational. This course offered a broader view at looking and analyzing the history
of African American in the United States. Though, I have read extensively and possessed a small
collection of books on the subject, this course has affirmed what I have already knew as well as
elevating my knowledge on the subject. The course also opened up new ways to look and understand
certain facts about African American s experiences since Reconstruction.
There could not be a better textbook for this course than Freedom on My Mind. As I stated in a
previous assignment, the textbook is a mini reference encyclopedia of African American history for
the past century. The supporting documents throughout the textbook support the authors arguments as
well as providing the foundation for many unanswered questions that academics and intellectuals
should seek find answers from the government and people in leadership positions.
Parallel conclusions can be drawn to events involving African Americans in the late 19th century and
throughout the 20th century to current events with the exception that a few cases many end up in the
court. Discriminatory practices are wide spread in every sector of the American society. The fights for
school desegregation may have been won in the courtroom but segregationists found a way to
underfunded black schools. Affirmative Action may have provided a

What Intermolecular Forces Explain Why Propionic Acid Has...
Intermolecular forces explain why propionic acid has the highest boiling point because, the
relationship between boiling points and intermolecular forces is directly proportional. The stronger the
intermolecular forces, the higher the boiling point. The force of attraction between molecules is based
on the polarity of the molecule. Therefore, as bonds increase in polarity, intermolecular forces become
stronger.
There are four main types of intermolecular forces, the strongest force, first place, is ionic bonds,
second place hydrogen bond interactions, third place dipole interactions, last place London dispersion/
Van der Waals interactions. Ionic forces occur when a complete transfer of electrons takes place when
one interacting atom is much more electronegative than the other, causing atoms and molecules to take
on charges. Hydrogen bonding occurs when a hydrogen atom is bonded to a very electro negative
atom, specifically a nitrogen, oxygen or, fluorine atom. The third strongest is dipole interactions which
is a sharing of electrons also known as covalent bonding. Finally, London dispersion/ Van der ... Show

the molecule also has a hydrogen bond (O H) but, it differs because the second carbon on 1 propanol

also contains a strand of hydrocarbons which increases Van der Waals forces so to larger surface area.
Lastly propionaldehyde has a boiling point of 48oC because it does not contain any hydrogen
bonding. The only intermolecular interactions in propionaldehyde are dipole forces and Van der Waals

The Grasshopper And The Bell Cricket Analysis
A character an abundant of readers forget to point out are one of the most crucial ones there is in any
piece of literature. The setting makes the narrative come to life with vivid imagery that enhances the
experience of reading, especially when it can be much more than just a place or time. In The
Grasshopper and the Bell Cricket and A Pair of Tickets, the settings support the concept of a location
being connected to the stages of life. There is a correlation between the setting and the theme of each
of the short stories. Schools are a place where one receives and education; on the other hand, it is a
place where innocence blooms. Japan as a piece of the setting supports the concept even further.
Yasunari Kawabata s work, The Grasshopper and the Bell Cricket takes place in a school playground
where there s a group of children out insect hunting. Elements of children and the playground
represents the youthfulness of an individual s life as it begins pure. Ideas of the youth are presented in
the lines, Behind the white board fence of the school playground... (Kawabata, Yusanari, 1924). The
color white as stated in the previous line is correlated with innocence, goodness, softness, and
perfection. By choosing to describe the color of the fence, something that is redundant in our daily
lives, he is implementing further the idea of the purity when a life begins as well as relationships.
Correspondingly, the children in the playground play an important along with said

Bali Nine Argument Essay
1. Introduction
In 2005, nine young Australian men were arrested in Indonesia for attempting to smuggle 8.3kg of
heroin out of Indonesia. The group s two ringleaders, Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran, were
sentenced to death by the Indonesian court. With all appeals for clemency rejected, they were executed
by firing squad on the 29th April 2015 ( Bali Nine: Timeline of key events , 2015). Following the
execution, many members of the public questioned whether this decision by the Indonesian
Government was justified. Relating arguments from different perspective including the Indonesia s
sovereign right, debated the effect on the international relationship and the deterrent effect on the drug
trade in Indonesia. Although the men were already executed, it is important to understanding the
rationality of the justification behind this decision, as it determines whether to support or to prevent
similar decision, if and when the same situation happen again.
2. Historical development
In 2005, the discovery of the group was reported to the Indonesian Government by the Australian
Federal Police, resulting in their arrest at the Denpasar Airport in Bali. The media named these men

future capacity requirements over next five years the company should consider, how much they need
to produce, and think if they have the capability to meet the production goals. Furthermore the
suggested expansion strategy is match capacity strategy. For location for the assembly plant and
warehouses the company should consider: the infrastructure of the building and its area, cost of
labour, and location of the most attracted customer locations and the overall recommendation is the Mt

The Baroque Style
The Baroque style helped change the role of the viewers. Italian Renaissance kept viewers at a
distance from the work but played with varying perspectives making them reflect intellectually on
what they were seeing (714). Bernini helped develop the new Baroque style by allowing the viewer to
see the sculpture from all sides. The new three dimensional perspective helps give David more lifelike
qualities by allowing the viewer to see the lean, sinewy body, tightly clenched mouth, and straining

an unseen adversary somewhere behind the viewer recognizing the viewer as a part of the sculpture

Use Innis’s Concepts of “Time-Biased” and “Space-Biased”...
The 20th century has witnessed dramatic developments in the history of media communications as
well as human society. During the first half of the last century, electronic media such as the telegraph,
radio and television to name a few were invented and became prevalent. Afterwards, the internet came
into being and developed at an unprecedented rate to the point where it is now widely accepted that
human history has entered into an information age. As claimed by a number of scholars, the
appearance of new types of media can bring about dramatic influences on living conditions. Among
them, Harold Innis, pioneer in this area of communication studies, is influential, firstly by employing
two dimensions to media, namely time and space, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To clarify, the Internet adopts a distributed information storage model which means information is
saved in different computers in a distributed manner, so if some information is lost from one
computer, it still can be accessed in another (Kleinberg, 2006). Furthermore, along with the
development of computer technology, a series of new data storage devices further make up for its
duration, for example current popular data sharing softwares such as BT (ibid.). With enlarging
storage abilities, information stored on the Internet can last for long periods of time (ibid.). According
to Innis, in history, few empires with a notable exception of the Greek Empire can maintain a balanced
relationship between space and time. Often there is the likelihood that one will be given priority over
the other (Innis, 1950). Nonetheless, as analyzed above, the Internet has achieved a relatively stable
balance between space and time.
Following this, corresponding to the two biases of communication, there are both oral and written
media. Oral communication can be seen as time binding because in oral societies, knowledge can only
be passed through generations by word of mouth which generally take place within groups or
communities (Innis, 1990). Also, because memory is limited, it is necessary to be particularly selective
about knowledge, as a result of which, knowledge not related to maintaining tradition is difficult to be
handed down (ibid.).

How Does Shaw Present Eliza s Transformation

Ambition And Evil In Macbeth
Macbeth is a play written by William Shakespeare from 1599 1606. It is believed that it was first
performed in the year 1606 at Hampton Court Palace before King James I and his guests. One of the
unfamiliar facts about Macbeth is that the real Macbeth also existed. He was the king of Scotland
between 1040 1057. He also killed Duncan to become a king, but Shakespeare did not use all the
historical facts, just the basic elements. First print version of the play showed up in 1623. It is the last,
and the shortest one of four Shakespeare s big tragedies. Many critics consider it the darkest work of
Shakespeare in general.

The Great Gatsby Narrator Analysis
A narrator is a character who recounts the events of a novel. These characters narrate the novel in their
point of view and how they perceive the events that occur. Their narration may be unreliable due to
bias and dishonesty. F. Scott Fitzgerald s, The Great Gatsby, Nick Carraway, a first person narrator,
tells the story through his point of view and interprets the events and characters in the novel. Nick is
an unreliable narrator because he is biased on his interpretations of the characters and the events that
occur, like Gatsby s death. For example, he speaks negatively of Tom throughout the novel, and
speaks highly of Gatsby due to their relationship. Nick s interpretation of Gatsby s death is seen as
unreliable because Nick s morals change, and he focuses the event on himself.
Nick s interpretations of the characters in the novel are biased due to the relationships he has with
them. Nick describes himself as one of the few honest people that [he has] ever known (Fitzgerald 59).
Nick desperately tries to prove that he is reliable and trustworthy, showing that he is insecure. Early in
the book, Nick shares the piece of advice that his father gave to him when he was younger. He says,
Whenever you feel like criticizing anyone . . . just remember that all the people in this world haven t
had the advantages that you ve had . . . I m inclined to reserve all judgments (1). Nick s desire to be an
authentic narrator, compels people to trust him and his side of the story.

  • 3. Crime And Punishment By Raskolnikov Crime and Punishment timed write The most memorable scene of Crime and Punishment is Raskolnikov s first experience at the police station while being questioned about the debt he owes to his landlady. Throughout the scene, Raskolnikov is being torn apart by his desire to confess to the murder of the pawnbroker and relieve himself of the immense burden of his guilt while still seeking to preserve his innocence in the eyes of the law. The scene is marked by several memorable moments such as when raskolnikov cannot contain his guilt and stands up as if he will confess to the murder but then holds his tongue and remains silent. This scene in particular sets a precedent for the rest of the book and gives us insight on the frenzied mind and rationale of Raskolnikov. Raskolnikov cannot exist and appease both his desire to come clean and free himself of guilt and bring himself to the punishment that freedom would entail, which puts Raskolnikov in a variety of situations where he is forced to choose which aspect of ... It is entirely effective at showing the reader how he is forcing himself into more and more difficult situations by not fully choosing which aspect (either guilt or self preservation) he will serve. The scene encapsulated the very essence of raskolnikov s character and gave the reader what almost appeared to be a physical manifestation of his thoughts. Under US constitution also prayer in schools is constitutional as well as unconstitutional. Though the film s titular city is a gleaming landscape of technological advancement it is through the hands of the arcane inventor Rotwang that the film s most stunning creation comes into being. Like Frankenstein revisiting outdated natural philosphers for his inspiration, Joh Frederson, the figurehead of Metropolis and the man to whom technology means the most, turns to the aged inventor in hopes of pushing technology even further. The visit to Rotwang is like a visit to the past: his house is the only edifice we see that is in no way modern (in fact it has such a clapboard appearance when held against the rest of Metropolis that ir ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When held up to the monster in Shelley s novel, Rotwang s creation serves as an indication of how far the technology in Metropolis has come. Though the basic premise of the two scenarios is the same, namely the cobbling together of a being and its homuncular bringing to life, Rotwang s creation is a much colder affair. Whereas Frankenstein built his monster from human remains, dabbling among the unhallowed damps of the grave and collecting bones from charnel houses (Shelley, p. 62), Rotwang s creation is made entirely of cold metal, it is a being of bronze and bolts. There is no room in Lang s vision of technology gone awry for even the barest hint of human involvement. Everything is cold, mechanical, and calculated. Even the workers, the lowest citizens on the societal totem and the only human contact the machinery necessitates is at risk of being forced from their jobs by Rotwang s metallic creation. Initial answers could include the following: through highly creative advertising messages; through innovative, value based pricing structures; through a constant array of compelling product upgrades; or through spending more money than your competitors do on multiple distribution channels. Wrong. I am convinced that true, meaningful connectivity with customers and key stakeholders occurs in one way: through authenticity at every level of the customer experience. That core is what today s customers are really after, as they make decisions regarding who to hire or buy from. In recent years, consumer oriented marketing has dramatically changed. Years ago, companies used a mix of print, radio and television to establish their brand. Today, this model is proving difficult for most companies, due to the high cost, the dilution of media, and the overabundance of commercial messages. These days, many successful brands are created without an advertising budget, or with a relatively modest one. They create a solid and believable identity, differentiate themselves from their competitors and build a loyal customer base by putting an authentic face on their companies through standing behind their promises on every level from the point of sale to customer service after the sale. Customers respond positively to the notion that a real, answerable person is responsible for quality, which is the reason that many successful companies put their CEO s front and center and avoid the celebrity spokesperson trap. Aside from today s young people inability to accomplish the millstones of becoming an adult, there is lot more differences between this generation and the older generation. Therefore, in this essay, I will be comparing and contrasting both generations. From how their career expectations are different, what was their definition of happiness, and how their parents played a role on making their dream or expectation turn into reality? • 11. Causes And Effects Of Tsunamis Run for your life! screams a little Indonesian boy. An eighty foot tall water wave of pure terror barrels towards him and millions of other people. On December 26, 2004, an enormous tsunami wrecked Indonesia, killed nearly 200,000, and left over half a million more homeless. This is not the only time something like this happens. Tsunamis happen all over the world, and they are common. They vary in size and destruction but are all very similar. Tsunamis are unique natural disasters due to the way they travel and form, as well as their effects of destruction. The travel of tsunamis is always alike. They travel fast across the ocean and end up on the shore of some country. Cited from National Geographic Tsunamis race across the sea at over 500 miles an hour, about as fast as a jet plane. At that pace, they can cross the entire expanse of the Pacific Ocean in less than a day. ( Tsunamis ). This goes to show just unbelievably fast tsunamis can rip across the ocean. When tsunamis cross the ocean, they are not fully formed gigantic waves rolling across an ocean. Instead, they are about five feet tall at the maximum, Gravity acts quickly against the waves it appears flat on the surface. BrainPOP explained that although the water appears flat, waves are constantly moving fast, and can extend thousands of feet deep. The deeper the ocean is, the faster the tsunami travels. When the depth gets shallower as it reaches the shore, it increases in size and becomes the big wave that many know as a tsunami. Scientists detect and measure tsunamis before they reach their destination. Stated in an article by Steven Ward, By analyzing seismic waves, scientists can determine when and where an undersea earthquake has occurred and calculate its strength. Therefore, they can discover tsunamis and warn the area that will be hit. Warnings are needed because tsunamis can happen at any coast in the world. Tsunamis form through various different things. They can be started from volcanoes, asteroids, landslides, and many other things, but the most common is an undersea earthquake. BrainPOP proclaimed that as two tectonic plates press together, the heavier plate slides under the lighter one and causes a disruption above. When ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Analytical Analysis Of Frost At Midnight By Samuel Coleridge Analytical essay of Frost at Midnight by Samuel Coleridge People think that nature brings a sort of calmness, happiness or peace, which is why most people travel to places with beautiful sceneries, or build houses near beaches, or have a plant in their surrounding or even just a painting of a tree, flower or mountain. The importance of nature is subjective as it nature touches people in different ways. The poem Frost at Midnight, Samuel Coleridge, is a monolingual conversation between the speaker and his sleeping infant. It is written in blank verse, with little or no rhyme but in iambic pentameter. In this poem, the speaker emphasises the importance of nature by equating it to God, he also speaks about the ability of nature to create treasured memories, which he wants to use to plant himself in his child s future, therefore, he his rallying against modernization because of this. They employ 30,000 people at more than 800 corporate, franchise and affiliate locations across Canada. Within the last year RONA has undergone significant changes, hiring a new CEO and choosing to close down several locations, so it is a very interesting period moving forward for the company. This report will outline RONA s current financial position, current issues that may affect their position, and give a prediction as to the future performance of the company. It will also analyze several of RONA s key financial ratios, and compare them to those of Home Depot, a major competitor in the industry. As of December 30, 2012, RONA reported $1,311,342,000 in current assets, a majority of which being inventory and trade and other receivables. RONA carries a lot of inventory due to their relatively low profit margin and high inventory turnover, who s numbers we explain further later in this paper. RONA has $813,901,000 in fixed assets, which make up about 29% of their reported $2,806,458,000 in total assets. This means that RONA does use a fair amount of operating leverage in their business. There are a few conclusions we can come to when looking at RONA s current debt and equity. Their total debt of $922,882,000 and total equity of $1,883,576,000 give them a 0.49 debt to equity ratio. It was split into three seasons that reflected the natural cycle of the River Nile, flood, spring and low water. I will be analyzing how Spielberg builds up suspense and scares the audience throughout this film, considering how camera shots, music and characters reactions help to build this effect. The film is purposely named JAWS as it is about a supernatural predator that killed many people with his deadly jaws without prejudice and discrimination. At the same moment, as the first note is played, we see the first images of the film like the shark looming out of the darkness and catching its prey unaware. As the camera smoothly shows the point of view of the shark moving throughout the weeds, the music gradually builds up and gets louder as well as faster, giving the impression that this shark is gaining confidence pushing its way through the weeds with force and determination. The music gradually increases and a brass instrument plays over the deep cello. At the end of this sequence a screech is heard tearing our ears, which reminds us the fate of helpless people caught in the jaws of misfortune. Instinctively we are made to remember this music. Spielberg intelligently makes us see the point of view of the predator. By not seeing the shark, suspense is created leaving our imagination to wonder. The music provides a sense of hostile presence as if an unseen, persistent predator is around the corner and both the music and hunter cause panic and chaos without being seen. King Lear, a play that involves the theme of man versus nature, is a perfect example of this. Edmund, one of the main evil characters in the play, must overcome the social ridicule that comes with being a bastard. In the beginning of the play, Edmund should not be blamed for how evil he acts since society refuses to respect his dignity. In any case, exploring the villains purpose and development throughout stories are important as they assist the audience in understanding why evil characters deserve to be where they end up. For this reason, villains can still have the right motives to perform evil acts as long as they are not too observed in themselves. In specific, the villains can only act evil towards the characters that have done something unjustifiably against them. However, in most cases, if villains are taking their evil out on characters that never wronged them, then they prove why evil characters never triumph in the end. In Othello and King Lear, Iago and Edmund were fascinating characters to dissect because they are both evil in their own way. With Iago, the audience can see that he is the greatest manipulator of mankind and he enjoys interacting with them. Moreover, Iago is able to entertain the audience with his practical jokes but in the end, he gets carried away with his hatred on innocent women and causes a bloodbath. Intermolecular forces explain why propionic acid has the highest boiling point because, the relationship between boiling points and intermolecular forces is directly proportional. The stronger the intermolecular forces, the higher the boiling point. The force of attraction between molecules is based on the polarity of the molecule. Therefore, as bonds increase in polarity, intermolecular forces become stronger. There are four main types of intermolecular forces, the strongest force, first place, is ionic bonds, second place hydrogen bond interactions, third place dipole interactions, last place London dispersion/ Van der Waals interactions. Ionic forces occur when a complete transfer of electrons takes place when one interacting atom is much more electronegative than the other, causing atoms and molecules to take on charges. Hydrogen bonding occurs when a hydrogen atom is bonded to a very electro negative atom, specifically a nitrogen, oxygen or, fluorine atom. • 34. The Baroque Style The Baroque style helped change the role of the viewers. Italian Renaissance kept viewers at a distance from the work but played with varying perspectives making them reflect intellectually on what they were seeing (714). Bernini helped develop the new Baroque style by allowing the viewer to see the sculpture from all sides. The new three dimensional perspective helps give David more lifelike qualities by allowing the viewer to see the lean, sinewy body, tightly clenched mouth, and straining muscles (717). Incorporating the viewer into the surrounding space, Bernini, implies the presence of an unseen adversary somewhere behind the viewer recognizing the viewer as a part of the sculpture and the action, a major component of the Baroque ... • 35. Executive Member Of A Local Union Team Logan members certify that no one on this team is acquainted with, personally know, or have had any prior contact with Ms. Siggard before this project. Explain your Choice of Company and Industry and Provide a Summary of the Research You Conducted Prior to the Interview At the beginning of this project, it was our intention to interview an executive member of a local Union to gain the perspective of what unions face in modern society regarding membership and the benefits they provide. We initially planned and scheduled our interview with an executive member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 354, Russ Lamoreaux. After being rescheduled and dismissed multiple times, our team opted to find a different subject to interview who would be more responsive and willing to provide us with helpful information to further our education. This became an interesting lesson for us as a team and changed our perspective of unions because it was difficult to get anyone to answer the phone, respond to emails, commit to a scheduled time, or even just provide an honest answer if they wished not to participate. We wondered if this is how unions regularly conduct business and how difficult or frustrating it must be as a member of management in trying to negotiate with a union to come to an agreement if this is how they operate. Our connection with Ms. Siggard was completely by accident and while we anticipated a different direction with this assignment, she provided ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Use Innis’s Concepts of “Time-Biased” and “Space-Biased”... The 20th century has witnessed dramatic developments in the history of media communications as well as human society. During the first half of the last century, electronic media such as the telegraph, radio and television to name a few were invented and became prevalent. Afterwards, the internet came into being and developed at an unprecedented rate to the point where it is now widely accepted that human history has entered into an information age. As claimed by a number of scholars, the appearance of new types of media can bring about dramatic influences on living conditions. Among them, Harold Innis, pioneer in this area of communication studies, is influential, firstly by employing two dimensions to media, namely time and space, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To clarify, the Internet adopts a distributed information storage model which means information is saved in different computers in a distributed manner, so if some information is lost from one computer, it still can be accessed in another (Kleinberg, 2006). Furthermore, along with the development of computer technology, a series of new data storage devices further make up for its duration, for example current popular data sharing softwares such as BT (ibid.). With enlarging storage abilities, information stored on the Internet can last for long periods of time (ibid.). According to Innis, in history, few empires with a notable exception of the Greek Empire can maintain a balanced relationship between space and time. Often there is the likelihood that one will be given priority over the other (Innis, 1950). Nonetheless, as analyzed above, the Internet has achieved a relatively stable balance between space and time. Following this, corresponding to the two biases of communication, there are both oral and written media. Oral communication can be seen as time binding because in oral societies, knowledge can only be passed through generations by word of mouth which generally take place within groups or communities (Innis, 1990). Also, because memory is limited, it is necessary to be particularly selective about knowledge, as a result of which, knowledge not related to maintaining tradition is difficult to be handed down (ibid.). ... The real world is not full of happy endings, or at least not the expected ones. The Cinderella story of Eliza s transformation is paralleled by that of a Frankenstein creation of new life , or Higgins molding of Eliza and her speech (2). The romance presented in the production is centered on Eliza and her ability to overcome obstacles and achieve something that just months prior seemed insurmountable, despite a lack of true education, she can pass herself off as a woman of truly high stature. Shaw s work of art is not about the fairy tale happy ending but about something believable and sensible. Slowly over months Liza s tough, gutter , exterior was chipped away to reveal Eliza, a woman capable of being called a duchess, but not one willing to sit down and serve another. Independence races through her and the moment she throws the slippers at Higgins pieces are being restored, she no longer will be a servant of his nor does she want any position that would make her one for the rest of her life. Any form of relationship to Higgins involving romantic attachment does not allow Eliza to be herself or to feel superior to anyone. Freddy offers the companionship she needs, with support, love, and no shadow to stand in. Shaw s romance is more about the making of her person not of any relationship with another character, it is Eliza s relationship with herself. Although Eliza s self worth was not determined by her standing in life she realized that she deserved more, she respected herself enough to know that Higgins was not the kind of man she would want a relationship with. She needed someone who cared for her passionately, not one who treated her just as he treated everyone else badly. Scott Fitzgerald s, The Great Gatsby, Nick Carraway, a first person narrator, tells the story through his point of view and interprets the events and characters in the novel.
