Ecology And Plant Ecology
In this article examples are going to be discussed of the application of molecular biology in the field
of plant ecology, what molecular biology is as well as what plant ecology is. Plant ecology is one of
the branches in the scientific field of ecology that mainly focus on plant population and their
surroundings (McMahon, 2016). Plant ecologists also look at other factors that have an impact on the
plants and their environment. According to the MIT Department of Biology, plant molecular biology is
the study where biological data such as plants genetics, genomes, biochemical and the cell biologics is
inserted into computers to understand the development, growth and physiology of plants at a
molecular level. The examples that is going to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Researchers do not just look at the plant but keeps in mind how the plants interact with each other and
their environment. A Plant ecologist do not just look at plants but also the soil conditions, animals and
other influences that might have an impact on the plants environment. According to McMahon (2016)
plant ecology is not just a plant itself but, is everything from understanding the plants environment
functions as well as the interaction of humans with the natural environment. The area most focused on
in plant ecology is topics like climate change, plant diseases and the symbiotic relationship between
plant species and how plants spread in nature (McMahon, 2016). Plant ecology involves a lot of field
work because the plant needs to be viewed in their natural habitat to understand why the plant looks
like it does. Plant ecology covers a wide range of research for instance the study of plants growing in a
specific ecosystem for example the rainforest, or a specific area that is of interest, like a population of
plants that is growing next to a polluted river or dam. It can also help researchers to study endangered
ecosystems and plant populations including not vascular plants like mosses. Plants make up a very
large part of the natural environment. Plants do not just provide people and animals with food but also
with shelter for animals, prevents erosion and the most important part is that plants provide us with
oxygen (McMahon,

Freddie Mercury Research Paper
Most people know the name Freddie Mercury , who was best known as the lead singer of Queen . In
70 s and 80 s rock, he was known as one of the greatest performers and still leaves a name in popular
music today. His life spanned from 1945 1991, which ended short from AIDS complications. Within

and guitar), performer and a record producer. His 4 octave vocal range is from a bass low to a soprano
high (from F2 to F6), also he wrote many of Queen s greatest hits. His live performances were known
from around the world, with one music critic saying Those who compile lists of Great Rock Front men
and award the top spots to Mick Jagger, Robert Plant, etc. all are guilty of a terrible oversight. Freddie,
as evidenced by his Dionysian Live Aid performance, was easily the most godlike of them all. ...

Another company, Alfa, which has a 44 percent stake in VimpelCom, is pursuing a similar suit against
Telenor in Geneva. After revising the commission structure, Telenor has decreased its easyload
commissions from 3% to 2.80% for retailers, which is now industry s lowest commission rate offered
by any cellular company, but it didn t work in its favor and the retailers declared to boycott all telenor

operation in Russia and Bangladesh, Telenor is working hard in order to come up with ideas that can
help the company increase its market share and revenues. The approval of clearance for operating in

Essay on Are Video Games Really A Major Issue for This...
There are various problems facing the world such as health care, gun control, and concerns of how the
growing advances in technology will influence the generation. An issue that many people would not
think of is video games. Most people are one sided, either seeing the media s portray as fun and
playful or a danger to your kids and the cause of our generation s laziness. What most people don t
realize is how the smaller factors of our everyday lives, leisurely activities such as video games, is a
massive part to these even greater issues that make up the world today. News about video games today

Justice System, advertising of products and their effect on the masses, and lack educational resources.
Because of the unfair image of video games, the public does not understand how this weapon can
actually be a incredible resource and solution to the many troubles of society. In a University of Iowa
study, a group of individuals 50 and older played a specially designed video game and it improved
their speed and mental processing abilities by slowing their natural mental decline in some cases, up to
seven years. By using technology in this way, students can improve literary rate and mental skills, the
elderly can slow the aging process, and can serve as an effective relieve to depression and stress.
People from all walks of life access video games on a day to day basis. From the Call of Duty shooter
to the Candy Crushers to the online Sudoku masters, the influence to the masses and the capabilities of
video games has been diluted since the 1980s. Video games are one of the most important issues in
today s world because of how they ve rapidly influenced so many aspects of our daily lives, despite
being completely undermined as an issue at all. With further research, more can be understood about
the psychology of this technology through it s advances from pixels to CGI images as the world
advances with it. If more attention is put to the debate of video games, good or bad, at least some

Should Charlie Have The Operation In Flowers For Algernon
Should Charlie have had the operation? In the story Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes, Charlie
isn t very intelligent. His teacher Mrs. Kinnian thinks he would be good to get to operation. Charlie is
willing to lose his personality and everything about him already, just to get an operation that is
supposed to make you intelligent. It may be temporary, but he goes for it. If he never had gotten the
operation he wouldn t have lost everything he had, such as his personality and most of all Mrs.
Kinnian. First of all, Algernon, the mouse, dies and Charlie is very depressed. This mouse is very
smart. Charlie is devastated when Algernon dies and over time he slowly loses his intelligence. This
only happens because the mouse had the same operation as Charlie. He was so depressed because that
is really the only thing he has bonded with and now it was gone. At the end of the story Charlie says,

Serena Rodriguez PSY 215 03 01/30/2018 Chapter 3: Clinical Assessment, Diagnosis, and Treatment
1. What is the purpose of psychological assessment? The purpose of psychological assessment is to
figure out whether an individual exhibits abnormal behavior, what symptoms they have, why they are
demonstrating that behavior, and it there is a way to assist the individual. There are several
psychological or clinical tools that psychologists use to determine someone s abnormal behavior.
These tests include observations, tests, and clinical interviews. For a psychological assessment, the
tool used must be standardized, reliable, and valid. This means that when a particular assessment is
administered there must be certain procedures followed as well as set ways to interpret results. When

Ancient Roman And Greek Architecture
Modern Architecture around the globe had been influenced by ancient Roman and Greek architectural.
Although both ancient Romans and Greeks are recognized for their innovations in architecture having
both constructed a variety of buildings and structures that can still be appreciated today, they appear to
have concentrated mostly on the creation of temples which at first sight seem similar but in reality
they each diverged and had their own identity and served for different purposes. Ancient Greek and
Roman temples were both similarly built to carry out religious or spiritual happenings, and for the
adoration of their gods who were believed to protect and sustain their own community. Compared to
the Romans, the purpose of building the Greeks temples originated with the idea of constructing a
sacred precinct as a home for their gods which was represented by a colossal cult image placed in an
inner chamber called naos or cella . According to historians, the Greek not only worshiped their gods,
but they honored them as well by having daily offerings. Greek temples had servants who were in
charge of ensuring the needs and care of their deities. Symbolically, their temples were a
representation of their philosophy and civilization. Roman temples were somehow similar in that their
temples functioned as a sacred precinct to honor the Gods. Likewise, they were represented by statues,
however they had a more decorative purpose and were placed in apses instead. Equally important,

F. D. Salinger s Catcher Of The Rye
J. D. Salinger s Catcher in the Rye features a complex narrative surrounding a troubled young student,
Holden Caulfield. Difficulties he faces throughout the story force Holden to confront his fears of
adulthood and maturation and the responsibilities therein through the difficulties he faces throughout
the story. Academic controversy surrounds whether Holden learns from these confrontations and
adjust accordingly, maturing throughout the story. While initially this seems rather subjective, a
thorough analysis of Holden s actions throughout the story as well as of the symbolism injected by
Salinger makes it quite clear that Holden does undergo a significant maturity arc as the story
progresses. Holden s social development and maturation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite his longing for acceptance, His efforts to connect with any stereotypical kid his age result in
abject failure (Privitera 204). Salinger thoroughly emphasizes this through Holden s relationships with
Stradlater and Ackley, with both of whom he has a strenuous and artificial relationship, demonstrated
by his internal, flippant commentaries on his peers as he discusses them in the book (Salinger 31 40).
Holden s peers ostracize him due to his more introspective and introverted nature, as seen in Stradlater
s angry response to Holden s reflective response to this writing assignment, saying that he doesn t do
one damn thing the way [he s] supposed to (Salinger 47). These difficulties stem not from deficiencies
of his peers, but rather a problem of Holden s refusal to accept anything different from what he
expects, making excuses about his reasons throughout the book to cover his actions. His
rationalization of his internal wants and desires impedes any proper connection he could possibly
make with his peers. He, Subconsciously longs to be accepted yet feels he cannot make the connection
(Privitera 205). This directly correlates with Holden s dubbing of many people, practices, or labeling
things as phony. He refers to the school and each of the students individually as phony, and calling
out, Sleep tight, ya morons! (59) when he leaves Pencey for the last time. This demonstrates Holden s
use of phoniness to describe anything that doesn t meet his

How Is Imagery Used In The Renaissance
Imagery during the English Renaissance was used by cavalier and metaphysical poets in order to
portray their message, communicate easily to the readers, and reveal their personal lives and opinions
through word choice and figurative language. Imagery was used by poets like Ben Jonson, George
Herbert, and John Milton in order to convey complex messages through the comparison of spirituality
and the physical world in a way that everyday people could relate to and understand.
The cavalier poets came from the subservient class of the 17th century, who lived under the rule of
King Charles I a monarch known for his enforcement of the creation and appreciation of art. Written
in short, straight to the point verses, cavalier poetry was casual and focused on witty commentary,
eroticism, and the beauty of love and courtship. With this came straight forward and somewhat
unequivocal imagery. One famous poet of this time was Ben Jonson. Jonson lived a simplistic life ...

Homeless in America Essay
The problem of homelessness in America is growing dramatically. It s a problem that can strike
anyone when you least expect it. Therefore you should address this as a major crisis that affects our
society. I feel as Americans we should come together to create solutions to end a growing epidemic of
homeless people.
Statistics show people living in poverty are most at risk of becoming homeless. Economically they are
at a higher risk of losing what little they already have.

The elimination and cut backs of public mental hospitals resulted in the building of Community
Mental Health Centers. The serious mentally ill who were supposed to benefit by these developments
were replaced by people who were well off and thought they were sick. Making the problem worse the
serious mentally ill were unable to re enter hospitals because of tighter admissions standards (
Contemporary World Issues 1990). Without hospitalization or the ability to support themselves they
were forced to the streets.
Declining wages have put housing out of reach for many workers. In every state, more than minimum
wage is needed to afford a one or two bedroom apartment. A minimum wage worker would have to
work 87 hours a week to afford a two bedroom apartment (U.S Conference of Mayors 1998). Thus
insufficient income leaves many people homeless.
For families and individuals struggling to pay rent, a serious illness or disability can push them over
the edge into homelessness. This might begin with a lost job, reduction of savings to pay for care, and
eventual eviction.
I feel in writing this essay we should all help the homeless to get back on their feet. They are in
desperate need of a helping hand, to get through this. Other reasons for helping the homeless are, they
are human beings as well as you and I, it reduces our taxes if there were no homeless, and some crime
will be eliminated on the streets.

The Importance Of Building A Rapport And Earning Trust Is...
African American women generally have mistrust for therapists or a fear for being stigmatized when
being treated for mental illness or AOD disorders. Unfortunatly, almost 25% or 7.5 million African
Americans have been diagnosed with a mental illness (Ward, Clark, Heidrich, 2009, p.1589). The
scope of the problem will be discussed in this paper and statistical information will also be provided
regarding the African American population. Many African Americans, especially in rural
communities, do not seek treatment for psychiatric mental health disorders, including AOD disorders,
and when they do seek treatment it is often with primary care providers (Boyd, Berger, Baliko,
Tavakoli, 2009, p.383). This paper will provide information regarding the signs and symptoms of
addiction and the barriers to treatment for the African American population. The importance of
building a rapport and earning trust is essential for retaining the African American population in
treatment.
Scope of Problem African American women that have substance abuse issues are related to severe
problems that may stem from childhood. African American women are more likely to use the most
severely addictive drugs and incur the highest rate of drug use related emergencies and alcohol use
mortalities (Davis Ancis, 2012, p.662). Some research concluded that African American women use
substances as a response to stressful life events that may have been grounded in their adolescence.

YTM AND HPR
Yield to maturity (YTM) reflects the return required and set by the market on the assumption that the
bond is held to maturity. In equilibrium, it is also the return that investors can expect to earn over the
life of the bond. Holding Period Return (HPR) is the expected return over a future period, and is not
based on the assumption that the bond is held to maturity. SIMILARITIES    Both expressed as
annualised returns (not effective rates) Use the settlement price as cost base Total returns accounting
for both the coupon interest component and the capital gain/loss component
DIFFERENCES    YTM is observed and set by the market, HRP is not YTM assumes that
coupon interests are all invested at the same rate as quoted YTM, HPR allows for different
reinvestment interest rates received at different times YTM assumes that bond is held to maturity,
HPR assumes that bond is to be sold before maturity
CALCULATING HPR HRP is used for comparing the expected return among alternate investments
over the same predetermined holding period. However, to accomplish this task, future interest rates for
different lengths are required.

Artificial Intelligence Is Identified By Many Aspects
AI: Artificial Intelligence Artificial Intelligence is identified by many aspects. Some would say that it
is the ability to mimic or resemble human behavior in all of its forms (Unknown, 2016). What would
the implications of Artificial Intelligence mean to the existing definitions and moral conundrums
people find themselves in. These simple processes to us raise many questions. How is humanity
defined? The ability to communicate ideas, thoughts, or feelings help define humanity and the
perceptions held by them. Lying is the unique ability specific to humanity and is universally
understood as not telling the truth. Note that there are different variations of lies that require some
level of conceptual processing. White Lies are a good example of this, as they represent many
different facets of human thought and emotion. Should the ability to deviate from factual information
be given to Artificial Intelligence and what would the ramifications that can befall a lie. This is a
question that humanity should ask itself, as it should not be left to one person or sect to decide. By
teaching software to lie it can potentially give birth to something that may not be able to understand
the social concept of right and wrong. It only measures information by black and white, fact or fiction,
or navigating the gray area of morality. It would use a hypothetical algorithm that would determine the
information s potential risk. The detrimental implications that Artificial Intelligence has the

The population in DR Congo is around seventy five and a half million people with an average life

temperatures are cool and there is more fertile soil (The Washington Post Company, 2001). DR Congo
is ranked 107th (the worst) in the world (Global Food Security Index, 2013). This ranking is produced
by the lack of food affordability, food availability and more importantly the quality and safety of the
food (Global Food Security Index, 2013). Every country, whether it s DR Congo or America, have

Some challenges that DR Congo face, in terms of food security, can be put in three sections as stated

access to financing for farmers, Food consumption and the proportion of the population that are under

Natural Nail Polish Research Paper
Cosmetic chemist Melissa Christenson states , As a chemist who knows a thing or two about cosmetic

Speech About Mao s Last Dancer
Good morning ladies and gentlemen, today we will celebrate the life of an individual who achieved
the impossible through perseverance and mental strength. Also, I will convince you why the film Mao
s Last Dancer MUST be screened at this year s film festival. Franklin D. Roosevelt once said, In the
truest sense, freedom cannot be bestowed; it must be achieved. This insightful quote ultimately
embodies the notion of working hard for your freedom instead of waiting for it. So, precisely, one will
only have the strength to gain freedom by persevering throughout life s obstacles and hardships. Li
Cunxin did not expect freedom to arrive at his doorstep; he was acutely aware that freedom and
success are born from hard work; he suffered through blood, sweat and tears throughout his whole
journey to earn his freedom.
Li s ruthless childhood experiences taught him to persevere through difficult times. Throughout his
life, he had tolerated some enjoyable events like playing in the snow with his brothers, yet some
draining events like discovering that his Niang fainted whilst on her trip to the dam. Li s Niang was
his number one supporter. She continually gave him tough love and encouraged him to take this
chance to escape from this cruel world. (and) Go, and do something special with your (his) life!
(p.96). The world of poverty was tough to escape but Li s mental strength assisted him into doing so.
If it weren t for his Niang, he would not be where he is today. However, Li

Ionic Compounds Lab Report
Background Ionic compounds and covalent compounds have many similarities and differences. Ionic
compounds are only formed with metals and non metals. Covalent compounds are formed with non
metals. Ionic compounds have an overall neutral charge, but covalent compounds don t have charge.
Ionic compounds are formed when non metals take electrons from metals. This gives both of them
noble gas configuration. Covalent compounds are formed by two non metals sharing their unpaired
electrons, so they can mutually have noble gas configuration. What properties do compounds form
when forming ionic and covalent bonds? Procedure The compounds are placed in a tray. Tin foil was
fit into an empty tray to make the same shape. The compounds were placed into the tinfoil tray with a
scoopula. The tinfoil tray was placed over the metal tray, which was positioned over the bunsen
burner. A timer was then started to time how long it took each compound to start melting. DI water
was then placed into a plastic tray. Each compound was placed into different holes, and stirred to test

compounds also were more likely to dissolve in the water than the covalent compounds. Sodium
carbonate dissolved in the water, but the salicylic acid did not. The ionic compounds also were more

Hoover ran the U.S. Food Administration at the request of President Woodrow Wilson. Hoover did
quite well as the head of the U.S. Food Administration in leading the effort to preserve food and
essential supplies that helped aid European allies. During the war, Hoover had become a household
name and the verb Hooverize was used, and that meant to ration household supplies. World War 1
officially ended in November of 1918 when the armistice treaty was signed. President Wilson then
appointed Hoover to lead European Relief and Rehabilitation Administration in which he supplied
over 30 million tons of American supplies to help aid the war torn European countries. Hoover s
service during World War 1 helped him gain the trust of President Wilson. With that confidence well
established between both men, President Wilson relied on Hoover s knowledge of world affairs during
the Versailles Peace Conference. The next year, Hoover founded a Library named after himself at
Stanford University that served as an archive for World War 1 documents and records. The private
organization became the Hoover Institution, which was devoted to the study of war and peace. In the

The Debate Of Stem Cell Technology Essay
For my casebook, I decided to focus on the topic of stem cell technology. Stem cells are
nonspecialized cells that have the ability to divide for an indefinite length of time and develop into a
variety of cell types. This process primarily occurs early in a person s life while they are still growing.
Stem cells are also used regularly in some organs to repair damaged or worn out tissue. Stem cells
have been found to have many more clinical uses in recent years, though. Stem cells have been the
subject of much research in the scientific community. They have been looked at as potential cures for
everything from hair loss to paralysis. While many of these claims are promising looks at what the
future may hold, media has a tendency to exaggerate the current status of what is capable with stem
cells. This leaves many people guessing about what is true, and what is just science fiction. The
purpose of this casebook is to look at the gray area of stem cells and help differentiate fact from
fiction. I will do this by looking at three major media outlets that talk about stem cells, and compare
what I find with three definitive sources that have the true facts about stem cells. From my results, we
will be able to see how much major media stretches the truth about stem cells. I used three popular
news sources for my casebook. I used an article from Men s Journal titled Does Stem Cell Therapy

The Act That Ignited the Revolution Essay
Prior to gaining its independence, America endured various controlling methods brought on by the
Crown that were focused on directly benefiting Britain, rather than Britain providing much needed
support and assistance to the colonists attempting to settle the new rugged land. While attempts to
control every aspect of daily life in the colonies was nothing new, the most critical and obviously
selfish move was The Stamp Act of 1775 (Tindall Shi, 2010). This tax, proposed by Chief Minister of
Britain, George Grenville, and enforced by King George III, was the first law or tax passed without
allowing any voice or opportunity for repeal from the colonists. The Stamp Act was proposed by

without representation of the mainstream society, Britain did provide the larger cities with an
opportunity to voice concern to various Representatives and Governors appointed by the Crown
(Tindall Shi, 2010). The Stamp Act was different in that not only did it have the largest affect on day
to day life of the businessmen, who were the most vocal and influential colonists, it was imposed
without any opportunity to voice alternative solutions from the colonists or the appointed officials
present in the colonies (Tindall Shi, 2010). The famous quote, No taxation without representation

by King George III that showed that he intended to use Britain s new land for revenue building during
his reign and this patronizing and disrespectful act ignited a series of events that became the American
Revolution (Tindall Shi, 2010). Driven by their anger toward the Crown for implementing this
thoughtless tax, the colonists began to unite despite their varying religious and political views. This
was the first time the colonist came together and looked past their differences for the good of the
colonies as a whole. Bostonians displayed their outrage by hanging a disrespectful depiction

Effective Use Of Cinematic Techniques In Tim Burton s Films
Tim Burton, known for his movies that, most of the time, can fit into the horrific genre. As a result of
his troubled childhood, Tim Burton directed mostly horror movies. He is well known for his films
Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, Edward Scissorhands and Alice in Wonderland. Tim Burton was
looked at as weird when he was a little kid. He once said Everybody in the whole world has been
misperceived. At school, you wanted something to come across this way and it didn t come across... It
s why you struggle as a child and you draw and you want to create. There is an impulse to be seen. For
yourself: what you are. . He grew up to make his all of his movies with at least a bit of horror added
into the movie.
Tim Burton uses lighting to create a certain kind of mood depending on how the characters feel in a
lot of his movies. Three good examples would be Charlie and the Chocolate factory, Alice in
Wonderland, and Edward Scissorhands. In Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Tim Burton uses
lighting to show how poor and sad Charlie s life is. In the movie, The lighting turns darker when the
camera transitions into Charlie s house. When the camera focused on the inside of the factory, The
lighting turned bright to show the excitement. In the movie Alice in Wonderland, the lighting is always

is edited in there to remind the audience of how sharp and dangerous Edward would be. In Charlie and

When the girl is rolled, the people edit in a little ground sharing and the sound of breaking stone.
Those sounds are edited to show how large the girl was compared to what she was. As the girl is
stretching, it make kind of an inflating sound like someone is inflating a balloon. In Alice in

Living On This Planet Has Its Ups And Down
Living on this planet has its ups and down. When I noticed the #ReasonsToLeaveEarth trending on
twitter today, I thought to myself I have to write about that .
So, here you go.
My Top 6 Reasons to Leave Earth:
#6 BILLS
I mean, really, I hate to spend money.
My dad taught me a lot of thing about money: here are the top two.
Number one is to hold on to as much of it as you can, especially when you are young, because life isn
t just about today. You need to have some wiggle room when life throws you a curve ball and you
need to have a way to take care of yourself when you are old.
Number two is that even though you should save, you have to spend money to make money (I hate
dislike this very much). If you want to start a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Think of how much more productive we could be. Think of how much we miss while we are asleep
for eight hours of our day (if we are lucky, that is).
To be able to call somewhere home where I didn t need to sleep in order to survive and function?
Now, that would be a dream (pun intended  ).
#3 FOOD
I enjoy cooking, especially when I get to make something really delicious. But the need to have a
balance sometimes gets in the way of my fun in the kitchen.
I would be very much ok with leaving for a place where calories didn t count and everything tasted
amazing!
#2 PAIN AND SUFFERING
No one likes to be sick or suffer.
It breaks my heart to see my daughter fall and hurt herself or spend the night throwing up (and even
worse if my hubby and I are throwing up too).
And of course on this planet there is emotional suffering too. People are constantly fighting. No one
seems to be able to get along for more than ten seconds. It doesn t matter if you are leaders of
countries with opposing values or a husband and wife who can t decide on the color to pain the
shutters tension is everywhere.
I want to leave earth for a place where my family and I wouldn t have to deal with all the pain and
suffering that life on this planet has been dealing us all these years.
AND
#1 INCOMPLETE
I am incomplete here. Jesus Christ started a work in me when I chose to follow Him and make Him
LORD of my life. That work won t be finished until I am face to face with Him in

A Picture Bride By Yoshiko Uchida
A picture bride. The ideal idea of woman created by looks and age, specifically for a man overseas.
The book, Picture Bride by Yoshiko Uchida follows the life of Hana, a picture bride from Japan. As
Hana and her husband Taro experience life together, the newly wed couple struggle to live in an
America filled with racism and prejudice against people of a different skin color. Hana s fight for
acceptance within her community and even her own home reveals the difference in cultures between
the two countries. With strong roots in her Japanese culture, living and raising a child in America
proves difficult. Hana s own relationships with her husband and child are strained because of
decisions she makes, and it is up to her to attempt to repair them. The desire for acceptance in her
community and own home drives Hana, while she struggles with balancing a mix of Japanese and
American culture while raising a child, which in turn lead to a relationship that is on the brink of
failing with her husband and daughter. A desire for acceptance follows throughout the novel, while
differentiating cultures lead to tense family and community conflicts. When combined with a
relationships falling apart, the novel paints a picture of these themes from start to finish.
The growth from a young bride who settles in another country, to a mother is astounding, and this
progress is shown through the eyes of Hana. Hana is not without flaws though, as not even a picture
bride can be perfect. Hana vies for

of the actual description of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte s advertisement for the

Dominance correlates to competitiveness because it gives a sense of power. Power as discussed in
class can be described as ability to exercise one s will which can alter the attitude of the opponent
once defeated. In relation to the discussions in class power is gained by competitiveness. For example,
the tailgate encourages students to prepare for the battle against another opponent. In the Journal of
Consumer Psychology it states, ...competitiveness was guided by three situational contexts in which
the motivation to win and defeat others may impact consumer behavior (Mowen 54). Now this
competitiveness is universal but in terms of both men and women it differs slightly. I noticed at the
men were expressing their confidence and competitiveness in comparison to the women. Gender role
within the difference of competition is a factor due to the cultural norm that men are supposed to be
aggressive as a trait of masculinity and women are supposed to be submissive as a trait of femininity.
In the research article, Gender and Competition, stated, Laboratory studies have documented that
women often respond less favorably to competition than men...men are more eager to compete

The Influence Of Donald Trump s Mental Health
On November 4, 2008 history was made, the United States of America elected their first black
president. We as a nation had taken our first step towards improvement and had gain a new fond hope.
The years following this historical election, included moving forward and believing that America was
finally a country that accepted minorities and have left its racist/ homophobic history behind.
However, the 2016 presidential elections proved this to be all wrong. We have gone from being a
country who just elected their first black president, to a nation who has elected a misogynistic, racist,
sexist, homophobe.
This past election has shaken the nation as a whole, it has caused the the feelings of hate we all
thought were buried with our ancestors to resurface and become acceptable once again. Donald Trump

The Revolt Of The Cockroach People
Mexican Americans in Texas have a long and detailed history spanning from the arrival of Cortez all
the way to the present day. Through historical events, the culture and identity of Mexican Americans
have shifted, diverted, and adapted into what people chose to identify as. The rise of the Chicano
identity during the Mexican American Civil Rights Movement was an adaptation as a culture to
oppressive and unjust treatment from white, Anglos that had almost all political and social power over
all minorities. To stop the oppressive voices from silencing and oppressing the Mexican Americans,
they had to stand up to fight for their rights as American citizens that also had Mexican or Spanish
heritage to be proud of. In Oscar Zeta Acosta s novel, The Revolt of the Cockroach People, he dives
into the Chicano Movement as a witness and an active participant. His larger than life character is on
the front lines of the movement and examines the shift in identity among the group. It was particularly
rising of their Chicano identity that gave the people cause to organize politically and socially in order
to fight for a worthy cause. One aspect of the Chicano identity that gave rise to the Chicano
Movement is the power of reviving gender roles. The revival of the traditional roles gave Chicano
men the desire to assert themselves as the dominate gender to conquer the past oppressions from
whites. Traditional roles for men in Anglo, Spanish, and Mexican cultures dictate the men as the

Melisane Alternate Ending
Melisande gave her such a wide smile that another wave of gratification spread through Morgana s
chest. She straightened her shoulders and glanced at Merlin. He was looking at her with admiration
and she hastily turned back to Melisande before he saw how pleased Morgana was by his appreciative
gaze.
I m sorry to have intruded, my lady. The young woman lifted the green silk of her mended skirt and
executed a proper curtsey.
That s all right, Melisande. Morgana gave her a cool nod. I apologize our lesson today will be
postponed. Tomorrow, I promise, I ll make you work twice as hard.
A smile lit the young woman s round face. I look forward to it, my lady.

Morgana moved toward one of the withering rose bushes. She held out a hand and whispered a spell.
The leaves spread wider and greener and the wilted flowers opened again to display vibrant red
blooms.
They re beautiful. Merlin s eyes moved over the rows of bushes and stalks in square plots. Did you do
all this? His gesture encompassed the entire tiny garden.
Yes. The spark of pride that always warmed her when she surveyed her flower garden was redoubled
at the admiration in his gaze.
He looked around again at the stiffening plants. Then he crouched down, laid one hand on a patch of
bare earth, and spoke a spell similar to the one she had used.
Her eyes widened as every rose bush burst into blooms of all colours more colours than they had
displayed at the height of summer and every other flower awakened as if each had reached its peak
season. The cornflowers were bluer than the pale sky above and the lavender s scents competed with
lilacs in all shades from white to dark purple.
She looked at him in awe and then narrowed her gaze. Is this why you could always find flowers to
pick no matter what time of year it

Photorealism was a primarily American art movement that emerged in the late 1960 s and flourished
in the 1970 s. Photo realism grew out of the Pop and Minimalism movements that preceded it.Photo
realists typically projected a photographed image onto a canvas and then used an airbrush to reproduce
the effect of a photo printed on glossy paper.Photorealistic artists use photographs to creating
paintings that look extremely realistic. Pop Art and Photorealism were reactions to the abundant use of
photography in the media which, they felt, was diminishing the importance of imagery in art. John

He is an American painter who gained initial fame as a photorealist; but his recent works have veered
into the realm of metaphysics. In the 1970s, Eddy s works paid homage to cars and the urban
cityscape. In the 1980s, his work was more object oriented depicting glassware, silverware, and toys
on a reflective series of glass shelves. Often composed of diptychs or polyptychs, he juxtaposes
images in poetic relationship to one another echoing ecosystems, as the artist calls these connections
of structure. Richard Estes born May 14, 1932 in Kewanee, Illinois is an American artist, best known
for his photorealist paintings. The paintings generally consist of reflective, clean, and inanimate city
and geometric landscapes. He is regarded as one of the founders of the international photo realist
movement of the late 1960s, with such painters as John Baeder, Ralph Goings, Chuck Close, Audrey
Flack, and Duane Hanson. It is also called super realism or hyper realism and painters like Richard
Estes, Denis Peterson, Audrey Flack, and Chuck Close often worked from photographic stills to create
paintings that appeared to be photographs. Photorealism was a very influential art movement.
Something I learned from these famous artiste was that they all painted traditionally. These artworks
were highly appreciated because of their realistic qualities. Artist grow to fame really quickly and are

Plant ecology covers a wide range of research for instance the study of plants growing in a specific ecosystem for example the rainforest, or a specific area that is of interest, like a population of plants that is growing next to a polluted river or dam. Although both ancient Romans and Greeks are recognized for their innovations in architecture having both constructed a variety of buildings and structures that can still be appreciated today, they appear to have concentrated mostly on the creation of temples which at first sight seem similar but in reality they each diverged and had their own identity and served for different purposes. Ancient Greek and Roman temples were both similarly built to carry out religious or spiritual happenings, and for the adoration of their gods who were believed to protect and sustain their own community. Compared to the Romans, the purpose of building the Greeks temples originated with the idea of constructing a sacred precinct as a home for their gods which was represented by a colossal cult image placed in an inner chamber called naos or cella . According to historians, the Greek not only worshiped their gods, but they honored them as well by having daily offerings. Greek temples had servants who were in charge of ensuring the needs and care of their deities. Symbolically, their temples were a representation of their philosophy and civilization. Roman temples were somehow similar in that their temples functioned as a sacred precinct to honor the Gods. Likewise, they were represented by statues, however they had a more decorative purpose and were placed in apses instead. Equally important, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. F. D. Salinger s Catcher Of The Rye J. D. Salinger s Catcher in the Rye features a complex narrative surrounding a troubled young student, Holden Caulfield. Difficulties he faces throughout the story force Holden to confront his fears of adulthood and maturation and the responsibilities therein through the difficulties he faces throughout the story. Academic controversy surrounds whether Holden learns from these confrontations and adjust accordingly, maturing throughout the story. While initially this seems rather subjective, a thorough analysis of Holden s actions throughout the story as well as of the symbolism injected by Salinger makes it quite clear that Holden does undergo a significant maturity arc as the story progresses. Despite his longing for acceptance, His efforts to connect with any stereotypical kid his age result in abject failure (Privitera 204). Salinger thoroughly emphasizes this through Holden s relationships with Stradlater and Ackley, with both of whom he has a strenuous and artificial relationship, demonstrated by his internal, flippant commentaries on his peers as he discusses them in the book (Salinger 31 40). Holden s peers ostracize him due to his more introspective and introverted nature, as seen in Stradlater s angry response to Holden s reflective response to this writing assignment, saying that he doesn t do one damn thing the way [he s] supposed to (Salinger 47). These difficulties stem not from deficiencies of his peers, but rather a problem of Holden s refusal to accept anything different from what he expects, making excuses about his reasons throughout the book to cover his actions. His rationalization of his internal wants and desires impedes any proper connection he could possibly make with his peers. He, Subconsciously longs to be accepted yet feels he cannot make the connection (Privitera 205). This directly correlates with Holden s dubbing of many people, practices, or labeling things as phony. He refers to the school and each of the students individually as phony, and calling out, Sleep tight, ya morons! (59) when he leaves Pencey for the last time. This demonstrates Holden s use of phoniness to describe anything that doesn t meet his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. How Is Imagery Used In The Renaissance Imagery during the English Renaissance was used by cavalier and metaphysical poets in order to portray their message, communicate easily to the readers, and reveal their personal lives and opinions through word choice and figurative language. Imagery was used by poets like Ben Jonson, George Herbert, and John Milton in order to convey complex messages through the comparison of spirituality and the physical world in a way that everyday people could relate to and understand. The cavalier poets came from the subservient class of the 17th century, who lived under the rule of King Charles I a monarch known for his enforcement of the creation and appreciation of art. Written in short, straight to the point verses, cavalier poetry was casual and focused on witty commentary, eroticism, and the beauty of love and courtship. African American women generally have mistrust for therapists or a fear for being stigmatized when being treated for mental illness or AOD disorders. Unfortunatly, almost 25% or 7.5 million African Americans have been diagnosed with a mental illness (Ward, Clark, Heidrich, 2009, p.1589). The scope of the problem will be discussed in this paper and statistical information will also be provided regarding the African American population. Many African Americans, especially in rural communities, do not seek treatment for psychiatric mental health disorders, including AOD disorders, and when they do seek treatment it is often with primary care providers (Boyd, Berger, Baliko, Tavakoli, 2009, p.383). Stem cells are nonspecialized cells that have the ability to divide for an indefinite length of time and develop into a variety of cell types. This process primarily occurs early in a person s life while they are still growing. Stem cells are also used regularly in some organs to repair damaged or worn out tissue. Stem cells have been found to have many more clinical uses in recent years, though. Stem cells have been the subject of much research in the scientific community. They have been looked at as potential cures for everything from hair loss to paralysis. While many of these claims are promising looks at what the future may hold, media has a tendency to exaggerate the current status of what is capable with stem cells. Tim Burton was looked at as weird when he was a little kid. He once said Everybody in the whole world has been misperceived. At school, you wanted something to come across this way and it didn t come across... It s why you struggle as a child and you draw and you want to create. There is an impulse to be seen. For yourself: what you are. . He grew up to make his all of his movies with at least a bit of horror added into the movie. Tim Burton uses lighting to create a certain kind of mood depending on how the characters feel in a lot of his movies. Three good examples would be Charlie and the Chocolate factory, Alice in Wonderland, and Edward Scissorhands. In Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Tim Burton uses lighting to show how poor and sad Charlie s life is. In the movie, The lighting turns darker when the camera transitions into Charlie s house. When I noticed the #ReasonsToLeaveEarth trending on twitter today, I thought to myself I have to write about that . So, here you go. My Top 6 Reasons to Leave Earth: #6 BILLS I mean, really, I hate to spend money. My dad taught me a lot of thing about money: here are the top two. Number one is to hold on to as much of it as you can, especially when you are young, because life isn t just about today. You need to have some wiggle room when life throws you a curve ball and you need to have a way to take care of yourself when you are old. Number two is that even though you should save, you have to spend money to make money (I hate dislike this very much). If you want to start a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But the need to have a balance sometimes gets in the way of my fun in the kitchen. I would be very much ok with leaving for a place where calories didn t count and everything tasted amazing! #2 PAIN AND SUFFERING No one likes to be sick or suffer. It breaks my heart to see my daughter fall and hurt herself or spend the night throwing up (and even worse if my hubby and I are throwing up too). And of course on this planet there is emotional suffering too. People are constantly fighting. No one seems to be able to get along for more than ten seconds. It doesn t matter if you are leaders of countries with opposing values or a husband and wife who can t decide on the color to pain the shutters tension is everywhere.
